00:00:14.68\00:00:19.71 Hi. 00:00:19.75\00:00:21.08 Welcome to Your Favorites By Request. 00:00:21.12\00:00:22.82 We would probably agree that 00:00:22.85\00:00:24.32 one of the most popular verses in the Bible is John 3:16, 00:00:24.35\00:00:27.92 "For God so loved the world 00:00:27.96\00:00:29.36 that He gave His only begotten Son, 00:00:29.39\00:00:30.99 that whosoever believes in Him should not perish 00:00:31.03\00:00:33.80 but have everlasting life." 00:00:33.83\00:00:35.63 God so loved, 00:00:35.66\00:00:37.13 what an amazing intimate and personal gift. 00:00:37.17\00:00:39.53 If you've risked showing and sharing love, 00:00:39.57\00:00:42.54 hopefully you know the feeling of having love 00:00:42.57\00:00:44.97 genuinely poured back to you. 00:00:45.01\00:00:46.84 As you would imagine 00:00:46.88\00:00:48.21 one of my favorite song themes is love. 00:00:48.24\00:00:50.25 There are thousands of secular love songs, 00:00:50.28\00:00:52.61 some of my favorites are from the '40s era. 00:00:52.65\00:00:55.48 But nothing beats a good old gospel love song 00:00:55.52\00:00:58.05 or a hymn to my savior. 00:00:58.09\00:00:59.42 So imagine how thrilled I was this week 00:00:59.45\00:01:01.72 to hear from Michigan and New Jersey 00:01:01.76\00:01:03.99 and out Washington State with requests for songs 00:01:04.03\00:01:07.26 that express the love of our precious savior. 00:01:07.30\00:01:09.63 And this one, for Allen in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, 00:01:09.66\00:01:13.54 a great old convention style song 00:01:13.57\00:01:15.67 called I Love My Savior Too. 00:01:15.70\00:01:17.84 Jesus, my heavenly King, loves me, I know 00:01:23.95\00:01:28.68 Praises to Him I sing, onward I go 00:01:28.72\00:01:33.49 Closely to Him I cling, blessings still flow 00:01:33.52\00:01:38.26 I love my Savior, too 00:01:38.29\00:01:43.16 I love my Savior 00:01:43.20\00:01:47.87 He loves me, too 00:01:47.90\00:01:52.64 I seek His favor 00:01:52.67\00:01:57.45 In everything I do 00:01:57.48\00:02:02.38 Walking with Him each day Lovelight doth shine 00:02:02.42\00:02:07.06 Doing His will always, never repine 00:02:07.09\00:02:11.83 Kneeling to Him I pray Thy will, not mine 00:02:11.86\00:02:16.70 I love my Savior, too 00:02:16.73\00:02:21.44 I love my Savior 00:02:21.47\00:02:26.37 He loves me too 00:02:26.41\00:02:31.25 I seek His favor 00:02:31.28\00:02:36.18 In everything I do 00:02:36.22\00:02:39.45 I love my Savior 00:02:59.47\00:03:04.15 He loves me too 00:03:04.18\00:03:09.12 I seek his favor 00:03:09.15\00:03:13.89 In everything I do 00:03:13.92\00:03:18.69 I seek my savior too 00:03:18.73\00:03:24.10 That's a lot of fun if you like that kind of thing. 00:03:27.17\00:03:29.87 Here's a great song, 00:03:29.90\00:03:31.24 Isn't the Love of JESUS Something Wonderful. 00:03:31.27\00:03:33.41 There will never be a sweeter story 00:03:40.08\00:03:45.85 Story of the Savior's love divine 00:03:45.89\00:03:51.69 Love that bro't Him from the realms of glory 00:03:51.73\00:03:57.50 Just to save a sinful soul like mine 00:03:57.53\00:04:03.44 Isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful 00:04:03.47\00:04:09.18 Wonderful, wonderful 00:04:09.21\00:04:14.35 O, isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful 00:04:14.38\00:04:20.72 Wonderful it is to me 00:04:20.76\00:04:26.53 Boundless as the universe around me 00:04:26.56\00:04:32.20 Reaching to the farthest soul away 00:04:32.23\00:04:37.94 Saving, keeping love it was that found me 00:04:37.97\00:04:43.81 That is why my heart can truly say 00:04:43.85\00:04:49.65 Isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful 00:04:49.68\00:04:55.66 Wonderful, wonderful 00:04:55.69\00:05:01.03 O, isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful 00:05:01.06\00:05:07.50 Wonderful it is to me 00:05:07.54\00:05:11.17 Wonderful it is to me 00:05:16.18\00:05:20.55 I like that song, wonderful love. 00:05:24.59\00:05:28.06 A lot of times, we wonder 00:05:28.09\00:05:29.42 if the lyrics of songs can really touch our life 00:05:29.46\00:05:32.86 like maybe even a sermon can, 00:05:32.89\00:05:34.90 and it's not really up for debate. 00:05:34.93\00:05:37.37 With just words, if it touches you, 00:05:37.40\00:05:39.40 it touches you, and you can't help it. 00:05:39.43\00:05:41.30 But the next song 00:05:41.34\00:05:42.80 is a song written by a very prolific writer 00:05:42.84\00:05:47.88 Charles Wesley wrote several hymns. 00:05:47.91\00:05:50.45 And one of the viewers sent me a book, 00:05:50.48\00:05:52.25 it's a companion to hymns 00:05:52.28\00:05:55.52 and it talks about And Can It Be, 00:05:55.55\00:05:57.99 and it's an example of how the lyrics can touch lives. 00:05:58.02\00:06:02.69 This says that, "Charles Wesley often told in his journal 00:06:02.72\00:06:05.96 how he made use of hymns in his evangelistic ministry. 00:06:05.99\00:06:10.20 The August 22nd, 1739 entry in Charles' Journal 00:06:10.23\00:06:14.30 tells how this hymn was used by the Holy Spirit 00:06:14.34\00:06:17.01 in the conviction and conversion 00:06:17.04\00:06:19.07 of a drunken servant of a Mr. Stewart. 00:06:19.11\00:06:25.25 This morning..." 00:06:25.28\00:06:26.61 The journal says, 00:06:26.65\00:06:27.98 "The work upon poor Robin appear to be God's work. 00:06:28.02\00:06:31.45 The words that made the first impression 00:06:31.49\00:06:33.92 were from the second stanza of And Can It Be 00:06:33.96\00:06:36.79 'Tis mercy all immense and free, 00:06:36.83\00:06:40.16 for oh my God it found out me.'" 00:06:40.20\00:06:43.50 Charles writes that this servant must... 00:06:43.53\00:06:47.20 "He now seems full of sorrow and joy 00:06:47.24\00:06:49.90 and astonishment and love." 00:06:49.94\00:06:52.27 So he's talking about the impact 00:06:52.31\00:06:53.81 that these lyrics had on the singer, 00:06:53.84\00:06:57.35 the listener of the words. 00:06:57.38\00:06:59.35 So this song is full of words, 00:06:59.38\00:07:01.78 I had to tell somebody has more words 00:07:01.82\00:07:03.22 in the Webster dictionary. 00:07:03.25\00:07:05.02 But they are great words, 00:07:05.05\00:07:06.65 and I hope that you can make sense of it. 00:07:06.69\00:07:08.86 If it's a favorite of yours, you will sing along. 00:07:08.89\00:07:12.49 The rest of you can just read along 00:07:12.53\00:07:14.46 and take in the meaning of these words. 00:07:14.50\00:07:16.36 And can it be that I should gain 00:07:24.11\00:07:30.85 An int'rest in the Savior's blood? 00:07:30.88\00:07:38.79 Died He for me 00:07:38.82\00:07:42.36 Who caused His pain? 00:07:42.39\00:07:46.19 For me, who Him to death pursued? 00:07:46.23\00:07:52.63 Amazing love! 00:07:54.57\00:07:57.44 How can it be 00:07:57.47\00:08:01.34 That Thou, my God 00:08:01.38\00:08:04.95 should die for me? 00:08:04.98\00:08:09.22 Amazing love! 00:08:09.25\00:08:12.79 How can it be 00:08:12.82\00:08:16.76 That Thou, my God 00:08:16.79\00:08:20.16 Should die for me? 00:08:20.20\00:08:24.53 Amazing love! 00:09:05.51\00:09:09.08 How can it be 00:09:09.11\00:09:13.01 That Thou, my God 00:09:13.05\00:09:16.28 Should die for me? 00:09:16.32\00:09:22.96 Long my imprisoned spirit lay 00:09:22.99\00:09:29.76 Fast bound in sin 00:09:29.80\00:09:32.77 And nature's night 00:09:32.80\00:09:37.64 Thine eye diffused a quickening ray 00:09:37.67\00:09:44.15 I woke, the dungeon flamed with light 00:09:44.18\00:09:51.52 My chains fell off, my heart was free 00:09:51.55\00:09:58.06 I rose, went forth, and followed Thee 00:09:58.09\00:10:04.30 No condemnation now I dread 00:10:07.40\00:10:13.98 Jesus and all in Him is mine 00:10:14.01\00:10:20.82 Alive in Him, my living Head 00:10:20.85\00:10:27.49 And clothed in righteousness divine 00:10:27.52\00:10:35.23 Bold I approach the eternal throne 00:10:35.26\00:10:41.54 And claim the crown, through Christ my own 00:10:41.57\00:10:48.81 Amazing love! 00:10:48.84\00:10:52.48 How can it be 00:10:52.51\00:10:56.05 That Thou, my God 00:10:56.08\00:10:59.39 Should die for me? 00:10:59.42\00:11:04.99 And we'll be right back. 00:11:15.67\00:11:17.41
