00:01:11.56\00:01:13.26 And is it a good alternative in our healthcare practices? 00:01:13.57\00:01:17.86 Sure, I believe it is an important alternative 00:01:19.05\00:01:24.22 among many in the healthcare practices. 00:01:24.23\00:01:28.74 And it is very, very common. 00:01:29.53\00:01:31.45 According to World Healthful Organization data, 00:01:32.65\00:01:35.53 4 billion people are using the botanical medicines globally. 00:01:35.54\00:01:44.61 Wow, here in this country in America 00:01:44.62\00:01:48.20 over 60 million Americans are using some type of 00:01:48.21\00:01:56.02 alternative medical care including botanical medicines. 00:01:56.03\00:02:00.13 And are very happy with the results. 00:02:01.64\00:02:05.08 And it's not just among the laity, the lay people, 00:02:07.20\00:02:10.63 the health practitioners are becoming aware of 00:02:10.64\00:02:16.64 the benefits of these agents. 00:02:16.65\00:02:19.42 Dr. Heber from the UCLA Medical School, 00:02:20.96\00:02:24.73 who is a university professor there, 00:02:25.47\00:02:28.25 and professor in public health, 00:02:28.26\00:02:30.49 has termed the botanical medicines 00:02:30.50\00:02:33.52 as probably the medicine of the 21st century. 00:02:33.53\00:02:37.59 Looking at their lack of toxicity 00:02:38.39\00:02:40.99 their benefits both for prevention 00:02:41.00\00:02:43.60 and treatment of common lifestyle diseases. 00:02:43.61\00:02:46.88 We are using these more and more 00:02:48.15\00:02:50.63 and we were seeing the benefits. 00:02:50.64\00:02:52.58 What do you think causes the average person on the street 00:02:52.85\00:02:55.92 to even considering an option to use botanical agents? 00:02:55.93\00:03:00.48 Well, I think there are many reasons. 00:03:01.59\00:03:03.32 If you look at what has happened 00:03:04.20\00:03:06.51 in just the regular healthcare line. 00:03:06.52\00:03:10.10 Many people have lost faith in conventional medicine alone. 00:03:10.11\00:03:16.16 They've either not been benefited as they had hoped for, 00:03:16.48\00:03:20.12 or they have been possibly harmed by 00:03:20.13\00:03:23.77 some of the drugs that have been given. 00:03:23.78\00:03:25.55 And they're looking for something that's safer, 00:03:26.47\00:03:29.00 they're looking for something that is not so expensive 00:03:29.62\00:03:33.41 and something that they consider in their mind as more natural. 00:03:34.03\00:03:38.24 And so here comes the botanical agents. 00:03:38.96\00:03:42.37 And the industry now, the herbal industry 00:03:42.38\00:03:48.72 has coming into, to help advocate 00:03:48.73\00:03:54.21 the use of these agents and it is now, 00:03:54.22\00:03:57.32 the information is everywhere, magazines, internet. 00:03:57.33\00:04:00.84 You know, just wherever you go, 00:04:01.48\00:04:03.94 this is the hot topic is botanical medicine. 00:04:03.95\00:04:07.07 You know, we know that whenever we look at anything 00:04:07.38\00:04:10.83 that has a potential to help with the health. 00:04:10.84\00:04:14.02 There's gotta to be an obvious concern about, 00:04:14.03\00:04:16.59 is this something that's really money making? 00:04:16.60\00:04:20.02 What is the motive behind the people who are doing it? 00:04:20.03\00:04:22.96 And many people are questioning 00:04:22.97\00:04:25.04 the scientific validity of using herbal agents. 00:04:25.05\00:04:28.69 Do we have the data to sustain our confidence 00:04:28.97\00:04:34.52 that these botanical agents really work. 00:04:34.53\00:04:36.90 Lee, in my opinion, 00:04:36.91\00:04:38.75 we have more information on the botanicals 00:04:38.76\00:04:42.44 than even we do about the pharmaceuticals. 00:04:42.45\00:04:44.51 You just have to know where to look for them. 00:04:44.79\00:04:46.54 Even in our own country, the US agricultural service 00:04:46.83\00:04:50.72 has a data base, where you can go, 00:04:51.46\00:04:55.26 you can ask questions of a certain herb. 00:04:55.27\00:04:58.45 They will give you all of the 00:04:58.46\00:05:00.64 phytochemical constituents of that herb. 00:05:00.65\00:05:04.08 They will tell you not only what's in it, 00:05:04.46\00:05:06.73 but how many parts per million are in that herb. 00:05:06.74\00:05:10.77 They will give you the balancing 00:05:10.78\00:05:15.25 of these phytochemicals in the herb. 00:05:15.26\00:05:18.02 So it's not just a unidirectional action, 00:05:18.03\00:05:20.31 it is balanced by others. 00:05:20.32\00:05:22.33 They will tell you what every phytochemical 00:05:24.27\00:05:27.36 that has been identified, that we know 00:05:27.37\00:05:29.45 what is its action in the human organism. 00:05:29.46\00:05:33.08 I mean, this is science at its best. 00:05:33.87\00:05:36.91 And so the practitioner who wants to know 00:05:37.22\00:05:39.86 he is not left to say, oh, well, grandma will try that 00:05:39.87\00:05:42.96 or Uncle George try that. 00:05:42.97\00:05:44.51 We have the knowledge now and we should study, 00:05:44.79\00:05:48.19 and we should now put that knowledge 00:05:48.73\00:05:50.74 to practical usefulness in benefiting patients 00:05:50.75\00:05:54.86 with this other alternative arm 00:05:54.87\00:05:59.11 that God has given us to help mankind. 00:05:59.12\00:06:02.77 And do you think over the last few years as there's been 00:06:03.31\00:06:06.36 more awareness of the importance of prevention. 00:06:06.37\00:06:10.01 Do you think that more people are willing to even 00:06:10.36\00:06:14.43 take a risk so to speak, in using these agents? 00:06:14.44\00:06:18.14 Oh I think so, I think they are open 00:06:18.15\00:06:20.37 and especially as we see at the same time 00:06:20.38\00:06:24.27 this light coming us on the botanical, 00:06:24.28\00:06:28.32 we see the rising incidence of adverse drug affects 00:06:28.33\00:06:35.98 resulting in many cases in death. 00:06:35.99\00:06:39.96 In fact, you're aware now that just as, 00:06:39.97\00:06:43.45 just recently The Institute of Medicine quoted 00:06:43.46\00:06:48.38 in the AARP general has identified healthcare harm 00:06:48.39\00:06:54.86 as the third leading cause of death in this country. 00:06:54.87\00:06:57.76 Amazing. 00:06:57.77\00:06:58.74 And so, when people see that 00:06:58.75\00:07:00.50 they are saying well, is there something else? 00:07:01.66\00:07:03.72 Can I try something that's not so dangerous? 00:07:04.36\00:07:06.83 And so they're open to this. 00:07:07.36\00:07:10.76 Let's talk for a minute about the safety aspect. 00:07:10.77\00:07:13.39 You know, sometimes we hear of people 00:07:13.40\00:07:16.12 who were overdosing or have used an herbal agent, 00:07:16.13\00:07:20.59 perhaps unintelligently and it's caused a negative side effect. 00:07:20.60\00:07:25.78 Are these things common or are they a rarity? 00:07:25.79\00:07:29.23 They are not nearly as common 00:07:29.24\00:07:30.77 as they would be with the regular pharmaceuticals. 00:07:30.78\00:07:33.36 Right. But they can occur and if people do not use 00:07:33.37\00:07:37.26 a product in harmony with the prescribing information, 00:07:37.27\00:07:44.59 then yes there can be some potential harm. 00:07:44.60\00:07:46.84 But, the potential for that is much less 00:07:46.85\00:07:49.15 then with the pharmaceuticals. 00:07:49.16\00:07:50.61 Right, right, now how do we know what herbs are good, 00:07:50.94\00:07:53.73 obviously tobacco is not gonna be on the same par 00:07:53.74\00:07:56.87 as something like Red Clover. 00:07:56.88\00:07:59.21 How do they differentiate what herb is safe and what isn't? 00:08:00.06\00:08:04.67 The same way that we have identified 00:08:04.68\00:08:06.92 what drugs are safe and what are not. 00:08:06.93\00:08:08.94 By scientific study, the same agency, 00:08:09.48\00:08:12.91 The US Agricultural Service has already put 00:08:12.92\00:08:16.41 all that informant together for us. 00:08:16.42\00:08:18.01 We have classified herbs, those that are safe 00:08:18.55\00:08:22.18 those that are poisonous, 00:08:22.19\00:08:24.10 those that can be used for foods, 00:08:24.11\00:08:26.13 those that can be use for medicines, 00:08:26.14\00:08:28.16 there is no question, we should know if we're studying. 00:08:28.17\00:08:31.49 And how do we know, how much is safe? 00:08:32.34\00:08:34.11 Obviously a little child is not going to need 00:08:34.45\00:08:37.38 the same amount as an adult and do we have 00:08:37.39\00:08:41.05 enough information for the dosage of each individual. 00:08:41.06\00:08:45.39 Oh, yes, that's already been worked out. 00:08:45.40\00:08:47.33 Okay, in terms of the amounts 00:08:47.34\00:08:49.20 for children at various age groups 00:08:49.21\00:08:51.33 David Hoffmann, the English investigator 00:08:51.34\00:08:55.70 in herbal science has done all that. 00:08:55.71\00:08:57.61 He's got that formula for us. 00:08:57.62\00:08:59.75 He's recommended the dosages 00:08:59.76\00:09:01.88 for these various common plants. 00:09:01.89\00:09:03.77 And so, I don't believe that we need to fear 00:09:04.70\00:09:08.70 so much about dosings and things. 00:09:08.71\00:09:12.33 And even on the standardized products. 00:09:12.34\00:09:14.48 If you're getting products from reputable manufacturers 00:09:14.64\00:09:18.77 of the herbs, they will even have 00:09:18.78\00:09:21.12 recommended suggested dosages to use. 00:09:21.13\00:09:24.79 Now, lets say a healthcare practitioner, 00:09:24.80\00:09:27.76 who knows that or he may go outside 00:09:27.77\00:09:30.70 of that generally recommended, 00:09:30.71\00:09:32.89 only if he knows the range of therapy. 00:09:32.90\00:09:37.96 common person without any medical knowledge 00:09:41.28\00:09:43.36 can safely follow those standards from the industry. 00:09:43.37\00:09:47.25 Okay. Now what are some of the agents, 00:09:47.43\00:09:49.92 the chemicals in the herbs that brings about 00:09:49.93\00:09:53.78 are they phytochemicals, are they minerals, 00:09:53.79\00:09:56.56 what exactly are they? 00:09:56.57\00:09:57.83 Yes. They are plant substances 00:09:57.84\00:09:59.62 that the God of heaven put there. 00:09:59.63\00:10:01.69 Okay. 00:10:01.70\00:10:02.67 In other words, and he knows exactly what needs to be there. 00:10:02.68\00:10:07.74 An herb is truly an example of polypharmacy. 00:10:07.75\00:10:13.21 You know, you've heard that term. Yes. 00:10:13.22\00:10:15.13 Now, in the regular drug line 00:10:15.14\00:10:17.53 that has a negative connotation. 00:10:17.54\00:10:19.29 But in the matter of herbal agents that 00:10:19.30\00:10:24.08 God has created with infinite wisdom, 00:10:24.09\00:10:27.26 He is the one who has put this together. 00:10:27.27\00:10:29.65 And there are many, many agents in there 00:10:30.22\00:10:32.75 that balance one another. 00:10:32.76\00:10:34.77 So that when you take them 00:10:34.78\00:10:36.72 you can get the benefits without the toxicity 00:10:36.73\00:10:39.85 of extracting from that plant, concentrating it 00:10:39.86\00:10:43.50 and then giving it back to a human being 00:10:43.51\00:10:45.99 and having that potential toxic reaction. 00:10:46.00\00:10:48.80 Now, many of these herbal agents, 00:10:48.81\00:10:50.89 are they found locally, could they be in our backyard. 00:10:50.90\00:10:54.77 Of course, do we have go to a supermarket to get them. 00:10:54.78\00:10:57.77 If you know, the herbs and you study 00:10:57.78\00:10:59.77 then you can find many, many plants growing 00:10:59.78\00:11:02.12 just where you are in the natural habituate 00:11:02.13\00:11:04.84 that you can use, or even you can start to grow 00:11:04.85\00:11:08.22 your own in an herb garden. 00:11:08.23\00:11:09.64 And do you have any herbs in your garden 00:11:10.10\00:11:12.44 that you've just gone out there and picked 00:11:12.45\00:11:14.52 and made an herbal tea or some concoction? 00:11:14.53\00:11:17.64 We have in our own little environment there at our home. 00:11:17.65\00:11:20.87 We have Mullein, which is a nice herb 00:11:20.88\00:11:23.61 that we use for respiratory tract infection. 00:11:23.62\00:11:25.88 We've got plantain, which is another nice agent 00:11:25.89\00:11:29.63 that we use as a demulcent in various inflammatory disease, 00:11:29.64\00:11:33.29 Red Clover, Chickweed, I mean just on and on. 00:11:33.30\00:11:37.61 Thistle, I mean it's, it's growing 00:11:37.62\00:11:39.84 and God has placed in every locale, 00:11:39.85\00:11:43.44 the plants that he knew in his fore-knowledge 00:11:43.45\00:11:46.64 man would need when they became ill. 00:11:46.65\00:11:49.24 So, no matter where we are in the world, 00:11:49.25\00:11:50.89 what country we're in, we can find something 00:11:50.90\00:11:54.83 that God has placed there. Exactly. 00:11:54.84\00:11:56.61 So he's made provision. Sure. 00:11:56.62\00:11:59.25 When we go overseas Lee, and we are teaching people 00:11:59.59\00:12:02.57 how to use the botanicals and, and other simple remedies 00:12:02.58\00:12:09.22 that God has given in the hygenic line. 00:12:09.23\00:12:11.14 We don't, we can't tell them now 00:12:11.46\00:12:14.35 you use all of these that we have in this country 00:12:14.36\00:12:16.84 because they may not have them. 00:12:16.85\00:12:18.11 Right, we have to learn what is indigenous 00:12:18.12\00:12:20.55 to that populations and learn what those agents do 00:12:20.56\00:12:25.16 and work with those who are knowledgeable 00:12:25.17\00:12:28.27 about the plants in that area. 00:12:28.28\00:12:29.84 Now, do you use botanical agents in the Lifestyle Center 00:12:30.26\00:12:34.23 when guests come with various conditions? 00:12:34.24\00:12:36.28 Do you start to incorporate some of these agents 00:12:36.29\00:12:39.25 as part of their treatment? Yes, certainly. 00:12:39.26\00:12:40.84 And what effect do you see it having upon the patients? 00:12:41.60\00:12:44.41 As it takes some of these agents, do you see a shift 00:12:44.42\00:12:49.60 towards a great improvement of health? 00:12:49.61\00:12:51.72 Well, of course, in other words 00:12:51.73\00:12:53.95 because this is after God's wisdom. 00:12:53.96\00:12:56.31 The plants, Psalms 104:14, 00:12:57.35\00:13:02.42 the plants God placed here for the service of man. 00:13:03.25\00:13:06.44 And so in a therapeutic regiment obviously 00:13:07.15\00:13:11.27 there is a place for the plant medicines 00:13:11.28\00:13:14.13 and as we use them in conjunction first 00:13:14.14\00:13:17.34 with lifestyle change, 00:13:17.35\00:13:18.79 correcting the abnormal behavior in, in habits. 00:13:18.80\00:13:24.75 So that now we have removed the block, 00:13:25.58\00:13:28.59 the Lord can now bring in the right lifestyle, 00:13:28.60\00:13:31.52 then we assist nature in her recovery. 00:13:31.53\00:13:35.09 And in that assisting nature we use a lot of the 00:13:35.10\00:13:38.47 hygienic methods, hydrotherapy, botanical medicines. 00:13:38.48\00:13:41.96 And as those changes now began to take place 00:13:42.47\00:13:45.33 in the individual, then it often results in much 00:13:45.34\00:13:49.94 less need for the medicine that they were taking. 00:13:49.95\00:13:52.70 So we can gradually under observation 00:13:52.98\00:13:55.79 start to withdraw those pharmaceuticals 00:13:55.80\00:13:59.04 and rely more and more upon the simple plants. 00:13:59.05\00:14:02.72 So someone is on a bad lifestyle 00:14:03.71\00:14:05.93 and they, they don't wanna make these changes 00:14:05.94\00:14:07.87 but they're interested in using botanical agents, 00:14:07.88\00:14:10.66 will it have an affect on those individuals? 00:14:10.67\00:14:13.33 I would not say it wouldn't have any affect, 00:14:13.34\00:14:15.99 but I would tell them 00:14:16.00\00:14:17.36 they're not going to experience the healing, 00:14:17.37\00:14:20.39 that you are hoping for just by using herbs. 00:14:20.40\00:14:23.85 You have got to go back to what cause of the problem 00:14:24.17\00:14:27.41 and correct that with lifestyle intervention. 00:14:27.42\00:14:30.79 And then you can anticipate that the Lord 00:14:30.80\00:14:33.76 will work through the simple things 00:14:33.77\00:14:35.36 that He has made to bring us health. 00:14:35.37\00:14:37.59 So we don't use the herbal agents like a magic pill 00:14:37.60\00:14:40.61 to fix this problem and that problem. 00:14:40.62\00:14:43.16 No. Dr. Grivas, you've been trained in 00:14:43.17\00:14:46.62 Conventional Medical School, was this something 00:14:46.63\00:14:49.95 that they taught you in medical school 00:14:49.96\00:14:52.98 or how did you get involved in this? I'm curious. 00:14:52.99\00:14:56.27 No. We did not learn that when I was in school 00:14:56.28\00:14:59.88 and that was a number of years ago. 00:14:59.89\00:15:01.10 We were taught conventional pharmacology. 00:15:01.83\00:15:04.00 And as we've talked before in other programs, 00:15:05.37\00:15:07.56 there is a place for that. But to transition from 00:15:07.57\00:15:12.44 the total reliance on drug medications in a 00:15:12.45\00:15:16.20 therapeutic regiment, over to lifestyle change 00:15:16.21\00:15:19.96 and the use of hygienic methods, that do not tax 00:15:19.97\00:15:24.67 or debilitate the system. That takes a retraining 00:15:24.68\00:15:28.34 even for physicians. And that's what we do 00:15:28.57\00:15:31.81 a lot at our lifestyle center. 00:15:31.82\00:15:33.32 Those physicians that are interested in 00:15:33.33\00:15:35.51 learning God's plan for ministry will often 00:15:35.52\00:15:39.05 come to the institution and work with our 00:15:39.06\00:15:41.40 physicians to be able to see how to transitions 00:15:41.41\00:15:45.54 from this complete reliance on the traditional 00:15:45.55\00:15:48.49 pharmacologic agents to other hygienic methods. 00:15:48.50\00:15:52.22 Now, how hard was it for you as a physician 00:15:52.59\00:15:55.81 not having a background in this, 00:15:55.82\00:15:57.76 trying to even get involved. 00:15:58.14\00:15:59.67 I mean, it was a leap of faith, what actually 00:15:59.68\00:16:03.65 happened to get you that point. 00:16:03.66\00:16:05.13 Well, certainly faith is necessary, 00:16:05.96\00:16:08.77 because faith motivates, right? 00:16:08.78\00:16:10.49 That's right. And when I would read the 00:16:10.74\00:16:13.72 miracles of healing that are recorded here. 00:16:13.73\00:16:17.72 Like with King Hezekiah, you remember when he 00:16:18.32\00:16:20.99 was dying and God directed the prophet 00:16:21.00\00:16:24.32 Isaiah to take the plaster of figs and place upon that, 00:16:24.41\00:16:28.33 we think a malignant boil. 00:16:28.47\00:16:30.62 We read about how Jesus healed the blind 00:16:32.00\00:16:34.20 man with the water, the clay, you know, 00:16:34.21\00:16:37.04 Naaman, how he was healed with water therapy, 00:16:38.01\00:16:41.21 you know. That's right. Dipping in the Jordan. 00:16:41.22\00:16:43.30 That challenged me, because I certainly 00:16:43.67\00:16:47.08 didn't know anything about that, but I was 00:16:47.09\00:16:49.40 wanting to learn. God put that burning 00:16:49.95\00:16:51.94 in my heart to, Lord, how can we do this 00:16:51.95\00:16:55.14 working with you and there is a science to this. 00:16:56.05\00:16:58.54 Just like there is a science to salvation. 00:16:58.55\00:17:00.55 And so, I started with not a whole lot in hand. 00:17:01.58\00:17:05.94 I had different herb books but they were 00:17:07.36\00:17:10.36 books that were written not by professional 00:17:10.94\00:17:13.28 people at all, but by local native people. 00:17:13.29\00:17:16.78 And I was a little reluctant to just grab those. 00:17:17.63\00:17:20.41 Now if I wanted to use them that was okay, 00:17:20.42\00:17:23.12 but that's my choice, but to take those 00:17:23.57\00:17:26.11 and then give them to patients who were coming to me. 00:17:26.12\00:17:29.27 That I could not do until I had more information. 00:17:30.25\00:17:33.47 Right, and then I began to investigate in the 00:17:33.61\00:17:36.94 earliest book I can remember obtaining 00:17:36.95\00:17:39.51 was written with some bibliographies at the 00:17:40.07\00:17:44.29 end from European literature where they 00:17:44.56\00:17:47.24 studied these herbs a lot more than we have in this country. 00:17:47.25\00:17:50.81 And I was so thankful, because now I had 00:17:51.26\00:17:53.83 some science behind this. And then I could feel 00:17:53.84\00:17:56.85 more confident that I could tell a patient, 00:17:56.86\00:17:58.78 now this has been studied, this has been 00:17:58.79\00:18:00.73 investigated, this is the dose and here 00:18:00.74\00:18:02.89 should be the expected outcome. 00:18:02.90\00:18:04.39 Now, I feel comfortable with that. 00:18:04.64\00:18:06.06 Did you ever get to a point where you started 00:18:07.33\00:18:09.96 to introduce certain things and maybe had a 00:18:09.97\00:18:12.54 bad reaction, and it sort of took you back a little 00:18:12.55\00:18:16.43 bit by surprise with any experiences like that or 00:18:16.44\00:18:20.28 did you see a consistent progression of health 00:18:20.66\00:18:26.03 for the individuals who were taking. 00:18:26.04\00:18:27.60 I think any, any ill affects would probably 00:18:28.21\00:18:31.92 not be because of the agent, but because of 00:18:31.93\00:18:34.72 my inexperience, I see it being able 00:18:34.73\00:18:36.90 to use it wisely, right, okay. 00:18:36.91\00:18:39.00 Right, so, it took probably a number of 00:18:39.01\00:18:40.91 years to get that background and that 00:18:40.92\00:18:44.05 confidence before you can start to withdraw 00:18:44.06\00:18:49.05 certain things and to or so offer suggestions of 00:18:49.06\00:18:52.93 even treatments for these botanical agents. 00:18:53.38\00:18:55.47 That's why they call it medical practice. Okay. 00:18:55.71\00:18:58.77 And you are still practicing. 00:18:59.24\00:19:00.28 Still practicing and still praying. 00:19:00.29\00:19:02.38 Okay. Alright, I don't want to make any 00:19:02.86\00:19:04.41 mistakes, I want people to get better, right, 00:19:04.42\00:19:07.52 under every therapeutic plant that the Lord has. 00:19:07.53\00:19:10.29 So you really study your herbs, 00:19:10.30\00:19:12.32 really well before you even recommend them. 00:19:12.54\00:19:15.10 You have to, you have to know this. 00:19:15.11\00:19:17.92 And how do the patients respond when 00:19:19.06\00:19:21.52 you start to even mention about herbal 00:19:21.53\00:19:23.48 agents, are they as excited in these things as you are. 00:19:23.49\00:19:27.37 Many are. In fact they come to our center 00:19:27.76\00:19:30.88 many of them because they have heard that we 00:19:30.89\00:19:33.06 use more natural remedies. 00:19:33.65\00:19:35.79 But others come, and they're not so sure. 00:19:36.47\00:19:39.54 But with giving them time not forcing, 00:19:40.26\00:19:43.20 we are not pushing anything on people. 00:19:43.37\00:19:45.35 Whatever, they have if they wanna stay with it, 00:19:46.13\00:19:48.14 we certainly allow that too. But we are educating, 00:19:48.15\00:19:51.87 right, we are trying to help people to 00:19:52.14\00:19:54.29 understand God's plan for total health recovery 00:19:54.46\00:19:58.98 and restoration to a whole being. 00:19:59.68\00:20:03.78 Right, so our role as, as in your situation dealing 00:20:03.79\00:20:08.87 with these patients as a physician is to, 00:20:08.88\00:20:12.63 increase the education rather than just give 00:20:12.64\00:20:16.02 them medication. And I think that's 00:20:16.03\00:20:17.51 important for us to remember that if we can 00:20:17.52\00:20:19.51 swallow a little education. We can't avoid a lot of 00:20:19.52\00:20:22.96 medication that may not be required, 00:20:22.97\00:20:26.28 because we're following a healthier lifestyle. 00:20:26.44\00:20:29.18 Exactly. And so these botanical 00:20:29.31\00:20:31.42 agents have powerful properties too, 00:20:31.43\00:20:35.22 in many cases reversed not just prevent, 00:20:35.23\00:20:37.57 we're not using it for preventative role so 00:20:37.58\00:20:40.21 much shall we? We're use in a more 00:20:40.22\00:20:42.19 as way of treatment. Well, we also use in 00:20:42.58\00:20:45.29 preventive; they can be used for immune enhancement. 00:20:45.30\00:20:48.94 Okay. Okay, and things like that, 00:20:48.95\00:20:50.88 if we like will be shortly taking a trip to Africa 00:20:51.28\00:20:56.38 and I will use some of these in terms of 00:20:56.49\00:20:58.73 preventions of some of these disease that are there. 00:20:58.74\00:21:02.65 I see, okay now there were maybe someone watching, 00:21:03.15\00:21:05.71 maybe thinking you probably have to have 00:21:06.17\00:21:09.71 faith for these things to work. 00:21:09.86\00:21:11.64 Is that the case, if the person doesn't have any 00:21:12.20\00:21:16.11 faith at all, maybe they're not even interest 00:21:16.12\00:21:18.81 in using these items? Well, I think faith 00:21:18.82\00:21:22.14 always is helpful in healing. 00:21:22.15\00:21:24.99 You remember when Jesus told the lady that 00:21:25.00\00:21:27.14 touched his garment, Daughter; thy faith has 00:21:27.15\00:21:30.04 made thee whole. And frequently He would 00:21:30.05\00:21:32.49 say according to your faith let it be unto you. 00:21:32.50\00:21:34.95 Right. But no, God has put antidotes 00:21:35.21\00:21:39.18 for disease in the plants. Now, I believe that if 00:21:39.19\00:21:42.86 we use those plants in a faith connection with 00:21:42.87\00:21:47.09 Christ asking Him to bless these, then we will 00:21:47.10\00:21:50.82 see far greater advantage. 00:21:50.83\00:21:52.65 Then if we tried to use them without inviting 00:21:52.89\00:21:56.43 his presence there for the healing you see. 00:21:56.61\00:21:59.89 Yes, because well it's like a seed, 00:21:59.90\00:22:02.39 when you put seed in a ground. 00:22:03.00\00:22:04.30 Often people just think well it just grows right, 00:22:04.52\00:22:06.83 it just grows. But now God 00:22:07.21\00:22:09.09 has to call forth the life of that seed. Right. 00:22:09.10\00:22:12.20 Okay, to spring forth to bring the fruit to feed 00:22:12.21\00:22:15.18 the people, right. And we should recognize 00:22:15.19\00:22:18.10 that behind every good intervention God is there. 00:22:18.11\00:22:24.15 Right, amen. Trying to bring healing and health. 00:22:24.24\00:22:26.68 Amen, now for those who are listening 00:22:26.69\00:22:29.60 and starting to get a little encouragement 00:22:29.61\00:22:31.57 towards the use of botanical agents, 00:22:32.05\00:22:34.87 how would you suggest they get started? 00:22:36.09\00:22:37.85 What resources could they use? 00:22:38.46\00:22:40.04 Where would they go? Many of the health stores, 00:22:40.05\00:22:47.47 the libraries now, the books stores will have 00:22:47.48\00:22:51.76 plants, herbal plants available in book form 00:22:51.77\00:22:55.80 with a lot of the scientific information 00:22:55.81\00:22:58.44 about it, listed. The common book 00:22:58.68\00:23:01.26 stores even, Barnes & Nobles and some of 00:23:01.27\00:23:03.41 these like will, it will have them. 00:23:03.42\00:23:05.12 So, I would suggest that they try to get a book 00:23:06.62\00:23:09.87 on the herbal medicines that is scientific; 00:23:10.40\00:23:14.51 it's backed up by true science. 00:23:14.70\00:23:16.68 And it for the viewers, if you would like to 00:23:17.54\00:23:20.12 have a website that you can go to, to explore the 00:23:20.13\00:23:24.74 agricultural database, the USA agricultural 00:23:24.95\00:23:28.71 service database. You can just simply 00:23:28.72\00:23:30.52 go to your search engine whatever it is 00:23:30.53\00:23:32.59 and type in James Duke, D-U-K-E. 00:23:32.60\00:23:35.98 He was the Primary Investigator. 00:23:36.47\00:23:38.22 And then you click into that 00:23:39.17\00:23:40.82 and up will come a phytochemical, 00:23:40.83\00:23:44.34 ethnobotanical base there you flick in. 00:23:44.35\00:23:48.87 And then you enter that, and you can explore as 00:23:48.88\00:23:51.88 much as you want these herbal medicines. 00:23:51.89\00:23:53.81 And that gives you this scientific information. 00:23:53.90\00:23:55.90 Oh! Yes. How these work, what chemicals 00:23:55.91\00:23:58.04 are in what plants? Exactly. 00:23:58.05\00:24:00.11 And so on. Dr. Grivas when we're looking at 00:24:00.12\00:24:04.34 using a simple botanical agents and especially if 00:24:04.59\00:24:09.94 we haven't use them before do, 00:24:09.95\00:24:12.36 do you recommend milder herb in the 00:24:12.56\00:24:16.16 beginning, you know a herb that is well known, 00:24:16.17\00:24:18.88 is quite popular. Sure. 00:24:18.89\00:24:20.21 Rather than something that is maybe a little more. 00:24:20.97\00:24:24.01 Abstract, not much scientific 00:24:24.66\00:24:26.75 studies being done there. Exactly, 00:24:26.76\00:24:28.21 and only those herbs that we know are safe. 00:24:28.43\00:24:31.13 Right. We don't want to experiment on patients 00:24:31.77\00:24:35.54 with unsafe agents. We want to know those 00:24:35.99\00:24:38.84 that have been tried and tested and here is 00:24:38.85\00:24:41.53 the affect, toxicity data is available and if there 00:24:41.54\00:24:46.38 is any problem, we know about it ahead of time. 00:24:46.39\00:24:49.38 So, if we stay with that and we stay within the 00:24:49.80\00:24:53.27 dosages that are recommended. 00:24:53.28\00:24:55.82 I think that there is minimal risk to patients. 00:24:56.36\00:25:00.16 It's when we start experimenting in, 00:25:00.53\00:25:03.06 in dosages that are not recommended or with 00:25:03.26\00:25:05.93 plants that we know have not been tested for 00:25:05.94\00:25:08.67 safety, then we get into trouble. 00:25:08.68\00:25:10.62 Right I see, so really we need to use them 00:25:10.82\00:25:13.50 intelligently. Yes, we need, need to follow 00:25:13.51\00:25:16.33 safe guidelines, make sure the perimeters are 00:25:16.34\00:25:19.42 covered and if you are and need to 00:25:19.43\00:25:23.38 know more information about plants. 00:25:23.61\00:25:25.39 So you have a question mark over. 00:25:25.40\00:25:27.10 What you're really saying is, there's 00:25:27.41\00:25:28.44 enough information out there to find out 00:25:29.02\00:25:31.55 whether these herbal agents are safe or not. 00:25:31.56\00:25:34.45 And we need a correct diagnosis; 00:25:34.60\00:25:36.80 this is where physicians are very important. 00:25:37.26\00:25:40.05 We don't go to the corner herb shop to find 00:25:40.67\00:25:45.16 out what's wrong with us. Right, all right we need 00:25:45.17\00:25:48.05 physicians that understand this body to 00:25:48.06\00:25:50.83 make correct diagnosis and then if we chose to 00:25:50.84\00:25:54.24 use a simpler agent then we can do so. 00:25:54.25\00:25:57.51 But always with an understudying of what 00:25:57.90\00:26:01.86 is the problem and how can 00:26:02.07\00:26:04.07 we then go about to correct it. 00:26:04.08\00:26:05.86 Right, so herbal agents have a useful place in 00:26:05.87\00:26:10.03 the treatment, although we don't, 00:26:10.04\00:26:11.70 it doesn't cause us to neglect 00:26:11.71\00:26:14.47 other message of healing. And especially using 00:26:15.12\00:26:19.07 medical professionals, who have 00:26:19.84\00:26:21.36 experience in diagnosis. And sometimes it may 00:26:21.37\00:26:25.00 not be that we need that herbal agent. 00:26:25.01\00:26:27.42 That's right. And we could use something 00:26:27.43\00:26:29.41 that's more appropriate. Now, are there several 00:26:29.72\00:26:34.30 different kinds of herbs that we could take that 00:26:34.31\00:26:36.50 produce the same affect. Oh! Yes, it's like food. 00:26:36.51\00:26:39.26 In other words the Lord has placed in the, 00:26:40.22\00:26:42.81 the herbal agents, multiplicity 00:26:42.99\00:26:45.26 of things that overlap. So you'll find one herb 00:26:45.27\00:26:47.81 having these phytochemicals, 00:26:47.82\00:26:50.03 another herb will have a few different, 00:26:50.04\00:26:51.81 but the same that some as the same that we find 00:26:51.82\00:26:55.55 in another and they'll overlap. 00:26:55.56\00:26:57.18 And so, it's not that every, it's just every 00:26:57.83\00:27:00.60 herb is distinct, it has nothing in common, no, 00:27:00.61\00:27:03.17 there is a lot of overlap in the plants. 00:27:03.18\00:27:05.21 As we've discussed the useful treatment, 00:27:05.73\00:27:09.11 well the intelligent use of treatment when it 00:27:10.10\00:27:11.92 comes to botanical agents. I hope it's been an 00:27:11.93\00:27:14.82 encouragement to you, as you've looked at 00:27:14.83\00:27:17.27 some of the things that you can do, 00:27:17.28\00:27:18.71 maybe some of these agents in your backyard. 00:27:18.87\00:27:21.25 I hope it's encouraged you to educate yourself 00:27:21.31\00:27:24.60 towards learning more about these things that 00:27:25.05\00:27:27.69 you can help yourself in the recovery towards health. 00:27:27.70\00:27:30.91 And please be aware that if you are 00:27:31.34\00:27:33.43 introducing botanical agents and you have 00:27:34.05\00:27:36.52 a chronic illness and you've been treated by 00:27:36.88\00:27:39.13 a physician. Please make sure that 00:27:39.14\00:27:41.43 you let that physician know of any botanical 00:27:41.44\00:27:44.44 agents that you are introducing. 00:27:44.45\00:27:46.15 We wanna make sure we're following safe 00:27:46.67\00:27:48.57 guidelines as it comes to using 00:27:48.58\00:27:50.80 these botanical agents.
