A lighthouse

it's a structure containing

you know, it goes
out, so it helps ships.

So as they're coming around

happened to that light.

today when we talk about

the lighthouse that you think,

the spiritual lighthouse

and how important that light is.

You know, some of
the first lighthouses,

I mean, really, you
know, somebody had to sit down,

just start thinking,
how are we going to warn

these ships that are sailing by?

How are we going today

to warn those out in
the world that you know,

this world is just
we're passing through it.

There's a lot of dangers there.

If the light is
not shining on it

what's maybe might happen to us.

But some of those
early lighthouses,

they were put upon a hill,

vessels of the coming danger.

But over time, the signals
and the power began to change.

They began to burn coal
and then they had oil lamps,

and still, you
know, that was good,

but it wasn't good
enough in real time of darkness,

in time of a
storm, in time of danger

and many ships
were still wrecking,

but that lamp power
began to increase over time.

And by, you know, 1820s,

all of a sudden
they already had lights

that could shine for
many nautical miles out

that the ships could see

or run into the rocks.
