00:02:33.68\00:02:35.02 No blanket, no mattress pad 00:02:35.05\00:02:36.89 and I had to go to pretrial, so. 00:02:36.92\00:02:38.39 They ripped you off. 00:02:38.42\00:02:39.75 Yeah, I got back, 00:02:39.79\00:02:41.12 we were on lockdown and everything. 00:02:41.16\00:02:42.49 And I got in there and I just saw iron 00:02:42.52\00:02:44.76 and had a sheet. 00:02:44.79\00:02:47.20 And that was it. 00:02:47.23\00:02:48.56 That was it. 00:02:48.60\00:02:49.93 It was a rough night. 00:02:49.96\00:02:51.97 So I started, it started with weed, 00:02:52.00\00:02:53.77 I started smoking a little weed here and there. 00:02:53.80\00:02:56.30 And then I started smoking more weed and more. 00:02:56.34\00:02:59.41 And I was drinking 00:02:59.44\00:03:00.78 and then it started with the ecstasy 00:03:00.81\00:03:02.34 and all of that stuff like it just was a downward spiral. 00:03:02.38\00:03:07.55 And I got sick. 00:03:07.58\00:03:09.28 You see my appendix had ruptured inside of me 00:03:09.32\00:03:11.59 and it's sealed off my intestines 00:03:11.62\00:03:13.19 and those were about to go next. 00:03:13.22\00:03:15.72 I was sitting there lying in that bed, 00:03:15.76\00:03:19.03 in that hospital bed. 00:03:19.06\00:03:21.13 And I remember laying back down on that bed not knowing 00:03:21.16\00:03:23.67 whether or not I was going to live or die 00:03:23.70\00:03:25.30 and saying to God, "God, if you get me out of this, 00:03:25.33\00:03:28.64 I'll change, I'll do something different." 00:03:28.67\00:03:31.01 Because prior going into that hospital, 00:03:31.04\00:03:32.91 I'd started selling drugs too. 00:03:32.94\00:03:35.51 Because God was pulling, 00:03:35.54\00:03:37.05 the Holy Spirit was pulling at my heart 00:03:37.08\00:03:39.55 trying to get a hold of my life. 00:03:39.58\00:03:42.68 And I finally surrendered to Him, 00:03:42.72\00:03:44.79 which was the best decision that I could ever make. 00:03:44.82\00:03:48.29 What I would love to encourage you, 00:03:48.32\00:03:50.46 if you haven't done it already, 00:03:50.49\00:03:52.86 is to give God a chance, to accept God, 00:03:52.89\00:03:56.26 accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. 00:03:56.30\00:03:59.93 It will make all the difference. 00:03:59.97\00:04:02.60 And I guarantee and His Word guarantees 00:04:02.64\00:04:05.61 that you will not regret it. 00:04:05.64\00:04:07.61 Because look this, this life, 00:04:07.64\00:04:10.98 this is short in the eyes of eternity. 00:04:11.01\00:04:13.92 So where do you want to be? 00:04:13.95\00:04:16.32 Do you know that these people 00:04:16.35\00:04:18.52 that are incarcerated like this though, 00:04:18.55\00:04:20.49 their one goal, their one objective 00:04:20.52\00:04:22.76 is when I get out of here, 00:04:22.79\00:04:25.29 then it's going to be different. 00:04:25.33\00:04:27.10 But the difference got to start in here. 00:04:27.13\00:04:28.70 That's right. 00:04:28.73\00:04:30.07 Now you said a lot of people out there in society 00:04:30.10\00:04:32.13 they don't quite have it together either. 00:04:32.17\00:04:33.67 Mm-hmm. Yeah, we all need Jesus. 00:04:33.70\00:04:36.40 We all need Jesus. We all need Jesus. 00:04:36.44\00:04:37.77 There are some people that are incarcerated 00:04:37.81\00:04:39.67 that are freer inside 00:04:39.71\00:04:41.51 than people that are on the outside 00:04:41.54\00:04:43.75 because they're held in that bondage of sin. 00:04:43.78\00:04:45.98 Amen, brother. 00:04:46.01\00:04:47.35 You know, I went back to the prison 00:04:47.38\00:04:48.72 where I was incarcerated. 00:04:48.75\00:04:50.09 And I walked all the way down the range 00:04:50.12\00:04:51.45 and I went to the last cell 00:04:51.49\00:04:52.82 because it was my first time back 00:04:52.85\00:04:54.26 in the prison where I've been. 00:04:54.29\00:04:55.62 And I went to the last cell 00:04:55.66\00:04:56.99 and I didn't know what to tell the guy and I said, 00:04:57.03\00:04:58.83 "I am so sorry that you're in here 00:04:58.86\00:05:00.30 over the holidays." 00:05:00.33\00:05:01.66 He walked over to the back of his cell. 00:05:01.70\00:05:05.03 He picked up his Bible and he walked up to the front 00:05:05.07\00:05:07.97 and we were having the conversation. 00:05:08.00\00:05:09.37 He said, "I am thankful that I was incarcerated." 00:05:09.40\00:05:12.44 He said, "I now have a relationship with Jesus." 00:05:12.47\00:05:14.44 Yes. 00:05:14.48\00:05:15.81 And he was happier, just like you said inside 00:05:15.84\00:05:18.28 the facility rather than being free 00:05:18.31\00:05:20.18 and the society standards. 00:05:20.22\00:05:21.55 You know, Jason, you've went with us 00:05:21.58\00:05:23.02 to many jails and prisons 00:05:23.05\00:05:24.72 and we share analogies 00:05:24.75\00:05:26.39 to make the practical life's applications 00:05:26.42\00:05:29.19 of a relationship with Jesus. 00:05:29.22\00:05:30.63 That's right. And it's got to be simple. 00:05:30.66\00:05:32.23 And because I was a simple minded boy, 00:05:32.26\00:05:33.80 when I was coming up and if I didn't, 00:05:33.83\00:05:35.33 I just didn't get it, you know. 00:05:35.36\00:05:36.77 And so, if you were to give an inmate one of these cups 00:05:36.80\00:05:41.54 and you ask the whole audience, 200 inmates to come up, 00:05:41.57\00:05:44.31 which cup do you think they would take? 00:05:44.34\00:05:46.14 Well, considering the fact 00:05:46.17\00:05:47.51 that they've been stripped of everything. 00:05:47.54\00:05:48.88 Yeah. They're going to want the bigger cup. 00:05:48.91\00:05:50.28 The big cup because they could use that for a lot of things. 00:05:50.31\00:05:52.11 That's right. 00:05:52.15\00:05:53.48 Okay, so the individual chose the big cup. 00:05:53.52\00:05:55.65 Officer, there, you got some water available here. 00:05:55.68\00:05:58.22 I'd like you to fill this cup for me for this analogy. 00:05:58.25\00:06:01.06 So you get the big cup and we fill that baby up. 00:06:01.09\00:06:03.46 And we just, that's how it is. 00:06:03.49\00:06:04.96 So we got a big cup, we got what we wanted. 00:06:04.99\00:06:08.36 But wait a minute. 00:06:08.40\00:06:12.93 You know, in life sometimes we seek those kinds of things 00:06:12.97\00:06:17.44 and then we find it's empty. 00:06:17.47\00:06:19.91 That's right. 00:06:19.94\00:06:21.28 So all of the life we've been seeking to fill that big cup 00:06:21.31\00:06:24.65 but a relationship with Jesus 00:06:24.68\00:06:26.68 and maybe they've committed their life to Christ, 00:06:26.72\00:06:29.15 I know there are audience of 200, 300 inmates 00:06:29.18\00:06:31.42 and maybe they haven't. 00:06:31.45\00:06:32.79 So for those that haven't, if you just tell them to try, 00:06:32.82\00:06:35.39 try the little, try and ask Jesus for help. 00:06:35.42\00:06:37.79 Can you put some water in there for me, brother? 00:06:37.83\00:06:40.16 You know, as we begin a journey with Jesus, 00:06:40.20\00:06:42.73 it's a little bit at a time. 00:06:42.76\00:06:44.33 Yeah. 00:06:44.37\00:06:45.70 It's fresh water. 00:06:45.73\00:06:47.07 It's not broken, the cisterns aren't broken. 00:06:47.10\00:06:49.67 The cisterns of society are broken. 00:06:49.70\00:06:52.91 But our relationship with Jesus 00:06:52.94\00:06:54.58 continues to fill that inward part. 00:06:54.61\00:06:56.98 And then we as Christians, 00:06:57.01\00:06:58.85 we are able to reach out and share that hope 00:06:58.88\00:07:01.15 that we have with our children, 00:07:01.18\00:07:02.85 our families, our community. 00:07:02.88\00:07:04.69 And what 3ABN is doing 00:07:04.72\00:07:06.15 is sharing the hope of God around the world. 00:07:06.19\00:07:08.62 And Christmas Behind Bars, 00:07:08.66\00:07:09.99 we continue to go in to these places. 00:07:10.03\00:07:12.86 And our cup is overflowing. 00:07:12.89\00:07:14.36 We can promise each one of those individuals 00:07:14.40\00:07:16.70 to come out to the programs of Christmas Behind Bars, 00:07:16.73\00:07:19.40 that there is hope for their lives at all. 00:07:19.43\00:07:21.24 Do you have a scripture that goes along with that? 00:07:21.27\00:07:24.11 Absolutely. 00:07:24.14\00:07:26.41 Psalm 23:5-6, it says, "You prepare a table before me 00:07:26.44\00:07:32.31 in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil, 00:07:32.35\00:07:35.88 My cup runs over." 00:07:35.92\00:07:37.85 Cup runneth over. No. 00:09:15.62\00:09:18.72 Like if you know, God's bringing 00:09:18.75\00:09:20.66 about that genuine transformation 00:09:20.69\00:09:22.39 in the heart continued pressing down that path 00:09:22.42\00:09:24.79 and don't give up for sure. 00:09:24.83\00:09:26.16 Amen. 00:09:26.19\00:09:27.53 You know, brother, when I got out of prison, 00:09:27.56\00:09:28.90 after years in a maximum security prison. 00:09:28.93\00:09:30.87 I really want to change. 00:09:30.90\00:09:32.57 I got out and I really tried to change 00:09:32.60\00:09:35.60 and it lasted for a little bit. 00:09:35.64\00:09:37.77 I mean, the outward change was okay for a little bit. 00:09:37.81\00:09:42.48 But then I got to look around at all the people 00:09:42.51\00:09:44.68 that had fancy clothes and fancy cars and boats 00:09:44.71\00:09:47.55 and jet skis and all this stuff. 00:09:47.58\00:09:49.95 I said, "Man, I know how to get stuff." 00:09:49.98\00:09:52.52 But I was stuffless, I was hopeless. 00:09:52.55\00:09:55.19 At 35 years old, 00:09:55.22\00:09:56.56 I went to treatment for the first time in my life. 00:09:56.59\00:09:58.96 And the doctors they tell me 00:09:58.99\00:10:00.33 with all their college education, 00:10:00.36\00:10:02.36 they said, "You need to take this methadone pill, 00:10:02.40\00:10:04.83 you need to take this antabuse pill, 00:10:04.87\00:10:06.60 you need to." 00:10:06.63\00:10:07.97 I said, "No, dude, I don't need, 00:10:08.00\00:10:09.40 I want off this train to destruction." 00:10:09.44\00:10:12.81 So at that point in our lives 00:10:12.84\00:10:14.18 when we realize that it's internal change. 00:10:14.21\00:10:15.54 Yes. 00:10:15.58\00:10:16.91 When we realize 00:10:16.95\00:10:18.28 we can try and try and try and try to we just, 00:10:18.31\00:10:19.78 we so tired of trying, we give up, you know. 00:10:19.81\00:10:23.25 But our relationship with Jesus, 00:10:23.28\00:10:24.89 He accepts us right where we are, 00:10:24.92\00:10:26.82 no matter how deep it may seem, 00:10:26.86\00:10:28.59 no matter how yucky it may be, 00:10:28.62\00:10:30.66 no matter how empty you may feel. 00:10:30.69\00:10:32.73 When we come to Jesus and say, "Dear Jesus please help me. 00:10:32.76\00:10:34.93 I've messed up again. 00:10:34.96\00:10:36.77 I'm in a place I don't want to be. 00:10:36.80\00:10:38.13 Will You help me?" 00:10:38.17\00:10:39.50 And that's what we want our viewers to know. 00:10:39.53\00:10:40.87 Would you share with our viewers 00:10:40.90\00:10:42.24 that wherever they are on this spectrum, 00:10:42.27\00:10:43.61 they may not have to be incarcerated, 00:10:43.64\00:10:45.61 but that that joy may run and be filling their life. 00:10:45.64\00:10:48.44 Yeah, you know, Lemuel, 00:10:48.48\00:10:49.81 when I gave my heart to the Lord. 00:10:49.84\00:10:51.91 I felt a genuine joy, a genuine peace. 00:10:51.95\00:10:55.25 It wasn't just happiness, 00:10:55.28\00:10:57.02 which is like a fleeting emotion. 00:10:57.05\00:10:58.72 It was long lasting joy, it was peace. 00:10:58.75\00:11:02.42 It was purpose, 00:11:02.46\00:11:03.79 there was so much more that I felt and I experienced 00:11:03.83\00:11:08.00 as a result of my relationship with Christ. 00:11:08.03\00:11:10.07 And, you know, the world tries to fill us 00:11:10.10\00:11:13.27 with these temporary things 00:11:13.30\00:11:15.44 that, you know, may satisfy us for a moment. 00:11:15.47\00:11:18.51 But when we accept Christ 00:11:18.54\00:11:19.94 as our personal Lord and Savior, 00:11:19.97\00:11:21.34 when we walk in His ways, when we learn more about Him 00:11:21.38\00:11:24.48 and cultivate that relationship with Him, 00:11:24.51\00:11:27.75 we grow, we grow in that. 00:11:27.78\00:11:29.98 And to experience peace, 00:11:30.02\00:11:32.42 which passeth all understanding in a world 00:11:32.45\00:11:35.16 where so much is going on, so much struggle and strife, 00:11:35.19\00:11:38.03 so much pain, so much suffering so much sorrow. 00:11:38.06\00:11:40.43 Right. 00:11:40.46\00:11:41.80 But yet you still have peace. 00:11:41.83\00:11:43.33 It only comes from God. 00:11:43.37\00:11:44.70 We can't categorize peace. 00:11:44.73\00:11:46.74 We can't dictionary it. 00:11:46.77\00:11:48.10 We can't get it out of a college degree. 00:11:48.14\00:11:51.61 It's the peace that you said, that passes all understanding. 00:11:51.64\00:11:56.48 That's right. 00:11:56.51\00:11:57.85 When you gave your heart to the Lord, what happened? 00:11:57.88\00:12:01.28 Did you get that joy? 00:12:01.32\00:12:02.65 Did you get that peace? 00:12:02.68\00:12:04.02 What happened is I said, "Dear Jesus, please help me, 00:12:04.05\00:12:05.92 I want to quit but I can't." 00:12:05.95\00:12:07.29 Yeah. 00:12:07.32\00:12:08.66 And I was thinking drug addiction. 00:12:08.69\00:12:10.03 "Lord, will You help me with that?" 00:12:10.06\00:12:11.76 And He began to help me with that problem. 00:12:11.79\00:12:13.40 I still had withdrawals.
