how God can help

aware of my blessings.

that God gives me
and I've trained myself

to look for those blessings.

I'm not feeling
so great about life

and I'll sit down and
write a gratitude list,

physically
write a list of things

that I'm grateful for,

because I've learned that

my brain can't go
in opposite directions

It can go back and
forth pretty quickly.

focused on the good things

in this world

that God gives me,

that changes my outlook.

And it keeps me looking

One of the things that

say is that I believe that

difficult situations

and we get through them,

which we always
do with God's help.

He makes us uniquely
qualified to help another person

who's going
through that situation.

The person who goes through
a tragedy of losing a loved one

can help another
person going through that

in a way that maybe I can't.

A person that's going
through the loss of a job

can be helped by somebody

who made it
through that loss of a job

and was moved to
a different place,

I had a friend one time

when I lost my
job for 13 months.

don't worry about it.

It just means that God
needs you somewhere else."

And this was the somewhere else.

And I've been
here now for 27 years,

and this was the
best move of my life.

Applying the things that I know,

I should have lived my life
a lot differently than I did.

And it would have
probably been helpful

not to ignore some of the things

day when I recall that

other supplemental insurance.

I remember there was a time

where I was just one of
the most negative people

you've ever met.

And I just
couldn't break out of that,

I just looked at,

I mean, it didn't
matter what it was,

I had a problem for
every solution, you know,

and you couldn't
solve my problems

because I'd
find another problem.

And today, you know,

that has changed a lot.

And of course,

this experience has brought
me so much closer to the Lord

but most of everything, I mean,

at the core of what I
want to get across is that

I finally understand that peace
that passes all understanding.

And whereas it might have
been a river in the beginning,

it's now an ocean.

And it carried me
through the whole process.

Yes, there was pain.

Yes, it was
uncomfortable to get out of bed.

Yes, I was
grateful for my sister

and my brother-in-law to help me

through those first few days.

And for the doctors
and the people that saw me,

but I can tell you that
applying these principles

that you talked
about here, is important.

Within a week,

I was walking
almost a mile a day,

and within two weeks,
it was two miles a day,

Guess what that does for
my diabetes, for my heart?

I'm still working with that.

I'm in rehab now, cardio rehab,

and they're pushing me
and I'm grateful for that.

to just take it easy.

So I focus on the Lord

Now we saw that gigantic

I deal with words all day long,

but I had never read
the Bible as a story.

And I'll sit down and read five,

six chapters in one sitting
and not even realize the time

that's gone by, you know.

And so for me,

I believe it's important
to keep growing spiritually.

If I don't grow, I go.

They had sold him into

And now he was one of the

love for his brothers.

In his love he says to them,

"Do not be afraid for

You meant evil against me,

but God meant it for good

in order to bring it
about as it is this day

I remember thinking, I
can say this to the devil.

He meant evil.

He meant to kill me
through this process.

worst thing in my life
