00:00:33.82\00:00:37.08 You want solutions to your healthcare problems. 00:00:37.11\00:00:39.90 Are you tired of taking medications? 00:00:39.93\00:00:42.78 Well, you are about to be given "Ultimate Prescription." 00:00:42.81\00:00:49.39 I like what the Bible says about asking. 00:00:49.42\00:00:52.30 Ask and you'll receive. 00:00:52.33\00:00:55.23 You have not because you ask not. 00:00:55.26\00:00:58.50 New testament writer James gets it right to the point 00:00:58.53\00:01:01.07 when he says in the King James Version 00:01:01.10\00:01:03.34 of the Bible 4:3, "Ye ask, and receive not, 00:01:03.37\00:01:07.93 because ye ask amiss." 00:01:07.96\00:01:11.06 Well, today we dig into the frequently asked questions 00:01:11.09\00:01:13.86 section of the heartwiseministries.org website 00:01:13.89\00:01:16.66 for the queries you've been sending in 00:01:16.69\00:01:18.29 on the subject of cancer and nutrition. 00:01:18.32\00:01:20.87 I can guarantee you that 00:01:20.90\00:01:22.05 no one has asked amiss on this subject. 00:01:22.08\00:01:25.47 Everyone has real and in some cases vital concerns. 00:01:25.50\00:01:29.79 Dr. Marcum, let's get right here to the very first question. 00:01:29.82\00:01:32.91 This is a common one. 00:01:32.94\00:01:34.79 The viewer wants to know, 00:01:34.82\00:01:36.18 why are cancer rates so very high? 00:01:36.21\00:01:39.25 Okay, well before we answer that, 00:01:39.28\00:01:41.15 we don't want to forget that question. 00:01:41.18\00:01:43.29 Let's spend a little bit of time, 00:01:43.32\00:01:44.89 making sure everyone knows and understand what cancer is. 00:01:44.92\00:01:47.96 Good idea. 00:01:47.99\00:01:49.45 Cancer is a group of cells that starts dividing crazily. 00:01:49.48\00:01:54.46 It just divides over and over, they start multiplying 00:01:54.49\00:01:57.72 and unfortunately cancer is not a friendly thing to have. 00:01:57.75\00:02:02.01 Cancer is a selfish cancer and they want to steal things, 00:02:02.04\00:02:05.35 they want to steal nutrients from other things. 00:02:05.38\00:02:07.64 They want to make blood vessels, 00:02:07.67\00:02:09.03 that just promote what it does, 00:02:09.06\00:02:10.36 so cancer is a very selfish type of disease. 00:02:10.39\00:02:12.63 It just wants to grow and grow and grow. 00:02:12.66\00:02:15.09 We don't want cancers, and sooner or later, 00:02:15.12\00:02:16.77 not only does it steal nutrition from the body 00:02:16.80\00:02:19.28 but it can also impact other organs, 00:02:19.31\00:02:21.30 it can grow into other organs, they can squish other organs, 00:02:21.33\00:02:25.21 frequently we see it squishing blood vessels, 00:02:25.24\00:02:27.95 so it can squish if it's in the brain, 00:02:27.98\00:02:29.85 it can squish the brain, if it's in the prostate, 00:02:29.88\00:02:31.92 it can squish organs that go through there, 00:02:31.95\00:02:33.68 compresses them. 00:02:33.71\00:02:35.00 So cancer is a group of cells, 00:02:35.03\00:02:36.65 different cells that are dividing uncontrollably. 00:02:36.68\00:02:40.13 Now we ask ourselves. 00:02:40.16\00:02:41.38 Well, what causes that to happen? 00:02:41.41\00:02:43.53 You know, I don't want that to happen to me. 00:02:43.56\00:02:45.81 And some cancers are clearly genetics, 00:02:45.84\00:02:48.69 we have it in us, but sometimes 00:02:48.72\00:02:50.49 it just sits there, it's dormant, okay. 00:02:50.52\00:02:53.49 And other cancers get turned on, 00:02:53.52\00:02:56.33 and actually when cancer gets turned on 00:02:56.36\00:02:58.00 there's some things we can do that actually feed cancers. 00:02:58.03\00:03:01.03 There are some things we can do to turn on cancers 00:03:01.06\00:03:03.54 and we heard this word, carcinogen, okay. 00:03:03.57\00:03:06.85 People sometimes have you know, cancer genes 00:03:06.88\00:03:09.78 and they have the carcinogen which turns on that gene 00:03:09.81\00:03:12.58 and that cancer might not be doing much, 00:03:12.61\00:03:14.60 but then we might feed it some things 00:03:14.63\00:03:15.99 that help it go grow like crazy. 00:03:16.02\00:03:18.16 And that's called the promotion stage of cancer. 00:03:18.19\00:03:21.13 And sometimes it can grow really, really quick. 00:03:21.16\00:03:23.50 So cancer is a group of cells that divide, 00:03:23.53\00:03:27.29 you know, over and over that shouldn't be doing that 00:03:27.32\00:03:30.00 and different things we have both in our genetics 00:03:30.03\00:03:32.63 as well as in our environment 00:03:32.66\00:03:34.26 can seem to turn on these cells. 00:03:34.29\00:03:35.85 And unfortunately, Charles, 00:03:35.88\00:03:37.54 these cancer rates are continuing to go up. 00:03:37.57\00:03:41.13 You know, everyone says well, why is this so. 00:03:41.16\00:03:43.07 Why is the cancer rates going up. 00:03:43.10\00:03:44.43 Some people say, well, we are just living longer. 00:03:44.46\00:03:47.46 I don't really buy that. 00:03:47.49\00:03:48.52 They say, every man that he gets old enough, 00:03:48.55\00:03:50.33 he will have prostate cancer. 00:03:50.36\00:03:52.37 Some say, well, we are now checking, 00:03:52.40\00:03:54.26 everyone is checked for cancer, 00:03:54.29\00:03:55.32 before people used to die, but that's not even true. 00:03:55.35\00:03:58.13 Even in the modern era when we can do these things, 00:03:58.16\00:04:01.01 we still see cancer rates continue to rise. 00:04:01.04\00:04:04.00 And right now, it's either number 1 or 2 00:04:04.03\00:04:06.37 in the United States every year, 00:04:06.40\00:04:08.03 and cancer is also a worldwide problem. 00:04:08.06\00:04:10.40 And everyone's concerned when they hear the word, 00:04:10.43\00:04:12.83 'you have cancer.' 00:04:12.86\00:04:14.34 Another word that people might use is, 00:04:14.37\00:04:15.85 'you've got malignancy' or you have a tumor. 00:04:15.88\00:04:18.86 Now sometimes tumor can be benign, 00:04:18.89\00:04:20.81 that means, they aren't, you know growing crazy 00:04:20.84\00:04:23.48 and some times they can be a malignant, 00:04:23.51\00:04:25.16 those malignant ones are growing rapidly, 00:04:25.19\00:04:27.02 they start squishing organs. 00:04:27.05\00:04:28.75 So back to the question, Charles. 00:04:28.78\00:04:30.20 I wanted to give that little bitty background 00:04:30.23\00:04:32.51 before we start to answer these questions. 00:04:32.54\00:04:34.06 But even by what you said, 00:04:34.09\00:04:35.60 it sounds like cancer rates are going up 00:04:35.63\00:04:38.36 because we are doing something either in our bodies 00:04:38.39\00:04:41.36 or in our environment that is making cancer possible. 00:04:41.39\00:04:44.76 Something that we weren't doing 100 or 200 years ago. 00:04:44.79\00:04:48.96 Well, I've been on the right track then? 00:04:48.99\00:04:50.02 That's right. And what was our question again. 00:04:50.05\00:04:52.29 Why are the cancer rates still high 00:04:52.32\00:04:54.42 even though we have all these medicines 00:04:54.45\00:04:56.39 and all these knowledge, it's still there? 00:04:56.42\00:04:59.03 Yeah, because we are not getting 00:04:59.06\00:05:00.33 at the cause of cancer, that's the key. 00:05:00.36\00:05:02.74 We are not getting, of course we can't change 00:05:02.77\00:05:04.55 our genetics, okay. 00:05:04.58\00:05:05.99 But we can change the things 00:05:06.02\00:05:07.57 that make cancers grow in the carcinogens. 00:05:07.60\00:05:10.17 And I like this word, prolong exposures, you know. 00:05:10.20\00:05:13.54 Prolong exposures to sun light can lead to skin cancer. 00:05:13.57\00:05:18.43 I mean on women, prolonged exposure to estrogen, 00:05:18.46\00:05:21.64 lots of estrogen leads to breast cancer, 00:05:21.67\00:05:25.76 in smokers, prolonged exposure to smoke leads to lung cancer. 00:05:25.79\00:05:30.64 In fact if you smoke you are 750 times 00:05:30.67\00:05:33.05 more likely to get lung cancer 00:05:33.08\00:05:35.48 and it's rare that I see lung cancer 00:05:35.51\00:05:37.02 in someone who doesn't smoke. 00:05:37.05\00:05:40.29 Exposure to animal products, 00:05:40.32\00:05:42.50 lots of fats and animal products in our GI tract, 00:05:42.53\00:05:45.59 prolonged exposure to that leads 00:05:45.62\00:05:47.12 to a higher relevance of colon cancer. 00:05:47.15\00:05:51.11 So a lot of these cancers that we have are prolonged exposures 00:05:51.14\00:05:54.45 to things in our environment that wasn't so good. 00:05:54.48\00:05:57.10 And why-- And it wasn't there 200 years ago. 00:05:57.13\00:05:59.25 And why nutrition comes into this formula here is 00:05:59.28\00:06:03.60 we are not eating now, 00:06:03.63\00:06:05.40 like we used to do years and years and years ago. 00:06:05.43\00:06:08.94 Now years and years ago, we ate more fresh fruits, 00:06:08.97\00:06:11.72 vegetables, nuts and grains. 00:06:11.75\00:06:13.66 Nowadays we eat a lot more of a animal based diet. 00:06:13.69\00:06:18.23 In fact if you look at the average American diet, 00:06:18.26\00:06:20.90 30% to 40% of the calories we take now are fat, okay. 00:06:20.93\00:06:25.37 And where do we get a lot or our fats from? 00:06:25.40\00:06:27.01 From animal products, from meat, eggs, cheese, 00:06:27.04\00:06:29.51 that kind of thing, from processed foods. 00:06:29.54\00:06:31.84 Also we bring in a lot of proteins that we eat. 00:06:31.87\00:06:35.24 We eat a lot more proteins than we really need. 00:06:35.27\00:06:37.74 So this nutrient composition 00:06:37.77\00:06:39.89 in our diets have changed over the years 00:06:39.92\00:06:43.67 and this nutrient composition that we get actually can affect 00:06:43.70\00:06:48.15 if we have cancer genes in our body 00:06:48.18\00:06:50.26 and it can also trigger things 00:06:50.29\00:06:51.90 and also we have a lot more of chemicals 00:06:51.93\00:06:54.20 in our environments. 00:06:54.23\00:06:55.26 Unfortunately right now people still smoke cigarettes, 00:06:55.29\00:06:58.54 and that's a carcinogen. 00:06:58.57\00:07:00.05 We have a lot of chemicals 00:07:00.08\00:07:01.36 that we don't even know what they do. 00:07:01.39\00:07:03.08 You know, you look on the labels, 00:07:03.11\00:07:04.55 labels on some of the food we eat, and we say, 00:07:04.58\00:07:06.69 wow this has this in it. 00:07:06.72\00:07:08.58 Do we even know if it's a carcinogen or not, Yeah. 00:07:08.61\00:07:11.60 The answer is no. 00:07:11.63\00:07:12.69 So we have all these things in our environment 00:07:12.72\00:07:14.32 that we did not have or perhaps feeding these 00:07:14.35\00:07:17.34 with the diets that's not how we were designed to do 00:07:17.37\00:07:20.15 and then the last factor is our immune systems. 00:07:20.18\00:07:23.62 Our immune systems are not stronger than they used to be. 00:07:23.65\00:07:26.79 Our immune systems which are able to knock these things down 00:07:26.82\00:07:29.39 are actually getting weaker and weaker. 00:07:29.42\00:07:31.42 And that's whole another talk. 00:07:31.45\00:07:33.01 But because of all the stress on our bodies, 00:07:33.04\00:07:35.42 the way we take care of our self is making, 00:07:35.45\00:07:37.21 the way we rest, the way we take care-- 00:07:37.24\00:07:39.51 The way we don't rest. 00:07:39.54\00:07:40.57 Yes, and all of that is putting 00:07:40.60\00:07:42.23 enormous strains on our immune system, 00:07:42.26\00:07:44.34 so our immune system is not able to take care of itself either. 00:07:44.37\00:07:47.70 Now these are just a few of the factors 00:07:47.73\00:07:49.49 that I wanted to let everyone know about. 00:07:49.52\00:07:51.38 But cancer is a problem. 00:07:51.41\00:07:52.64 It's a very scary thing 00:07:52.67\00:07:54.66 and that's why the rates are continued to go up 00:07:54.69\00:07:57.49 and they are not going to go down 00:07:57.52\00:07:58.74 I am afraid, unless we as individuals 00:07:58.77\00:08:01.13 can do things that lower our risk of beating this cancer, 00:08:01.16\00:08:05.16 staying away from carcinogens, 00:08:05.19\00:08:06.86 that's the real solution to the problem. 00:08:06.89\00:08:08.97 You know the cancer research is huge. 00:08:09.00\00:08:10.92 I mean there are millions 00:08:10.95\00:08:12.74 and probably billions of dollars being spent, 00:08:12.77\00:08:14.82 even as we speak there are people 00:08:14.85\00:08:16.90 in laboratories right now, studying 00:08:16.93\00:08:19.12 and they are trying to figure out 00:08:19.15\00:08:20.45 what is causing it and what to do about it, 00:08:20.48\00:08:23.77 and there are medicines being developed. 00:08:23.80\00:08:25.87 But from what I hear you're saying right now, 00:08:25.90\00:08:28.01 they are on the wrong track. Exactly. 00:08:28.04\00:08:30.15 Remember years ago, President Nixon said, 00:08:30.18\00:08:33.35 you know we put a man on the moon, 00:08:33.38\00:08:35.03 we're going to eliminate cancer. 00:08:35.06\00:08:37.18 And since that time, 00:08:37.21\00:08:38.57 the cancer rates continue to rise 00:08:38.60\00:08:40.83 and yet we're spending lots of money. 00:08:40.86\00:08:43.12 So if I were thinking about this problem of cancer 00:08:43.15\00:08:46.54 and I look and say, we're spending more money, 00:08:46.57\00:08:48.70 our society is getting sicker and sicker, 00:08:48.73\00:08:51.02 well I continue on the same pathway. 00:08:51.05\00:08:54.14 Well, I say, well may be we need to come up 00:08:54.17\00:08:56.12 with another chemotherapy regimen. 00:08:56.15\00:08:58.81 May be we need to do this. That's after the facts. 00:08:58.84\00:09:01.05 Yeah, that's what I am saying. 00:09:01.08\00:09:02.94 You know the real solution is not in this. 00:09:02.97\00:09:04.67 And you look at the numbers and that was in the 70s. 00:09:04.70\00:09:07.55 You know, that was long time ago, 00:09:07.58\00:09:09.19 40 years later the numbers are going up, 00:09:09.22\00:09:11.18 the plan is not working. 00:09:11.21\00:09:12.29 Now the plan does put a lot of people to work, 00:09:12.32\00:09:15.48 there's a lot of people working on these things. 00:09:15.51\00:09:17.16 And I am not saying that all of it is bad, 00:09:17.19\00:09:19.29 but I think we are on the wrong track, 00:09:19.32\00:09:21.70 when it comes to cancer. 00:09:21.73\00:09:23.27 I think we have to think more about preventing cancer, 00:09:23.30\00:09:27.21 detecting it early, treating our immune systems 00:09:27.24\00:09:31.01 and doing things that don't stimulate cancer to grow. 00:09:31.04\00:09:34.22 You know you are a big fan of T. Colin Campbell. 00:09:34.25\00:09:36.52 Yes, I am. I'm trying to study. 00:09:36.55\00:09:37.61 In fact we got his book there. 00:09:37.64\00:09:39.46 And he has made very clear that 00:09:39.49\00:09:41.77 it is possible to turn on and off cancer genes 00:09:41.80\00:09:45.14 in cancer problems in your body. 00:09:45.17\00:09:48.81 If that is true and I believe it is true, 00:09:48.84\00:09:51.86 why on earth would someone still insist on 00:09:51.89\00:09:55.32 doing what he says 00:09:55.35\00:09:56.38 we shouldn't do that causes cancer. 00:09:56.41\00:09:59.35 Why are we still doing that? 00:09:59.38\00:10:00.43 Well, because I don't think 00:10:00.46\00:10:01.62 people have all the data, you know. 00:10:01.65\00:10:03.46 And also we hear on the media that you have to do this, 00:10:03.49\00:10:06.21 this is the way you do it. 00:10:06.24\00:10:07.27 My doctor says, this is the way you treat it. 00:10:07.30\00:10:09.71 So I believe him. 00:10:09.74\00:10:10.88 The internet says, this is what I need to do. 00:10:10.91\00:10:12.67 Our government says, this is what we need to do. 00:10:12.70\00:10:13.91 There are all about treating it 00:10:13.94\00:10:15.05 as opposed to preventing it. Exactly. 00:10:15.08\00:10:18.11 And if you look at the studies that are being done 00:10:18.14\00:10:20.24 and Dr. Campbell looked at all these 00:10:20.27\00:10:22.25 and he noticed that people from China, 00:10:22.28\00:10:25.16 you know, when they ate in certain ways, 00:10:25.19\00:10:27.01 you know, when they move to the States 00:10:27.04\00:10:28.50 and they do westernized diet all of the sudden 00:10:28.53\00:10:30.80 their rates of cancer started to go up. 00:10:30.83\00:10:33.50 So just, may be wonders well there's something going on 00:10:33.53\00:10:36.07 with the environment, with the food 00:10:36.10\00:10:37.93 that may be this is the path we should be taking. 00:10:37.96\00:10:40.46 And now I think the new revolution in cancer 00:10:40.49\00:10:43.78 is not going to be coming up 00:10:43.81\00:10:44.93 with another chemotherapy medicine, 00:10:44.96\00:10:46.77 even though that's needed at time, 00:10:46.80\00:10:48.27 not going to be coming up with radiation, 00:10:48.30\00:10:50.24 even though that's needed. 00:10:50.27\00:10:51.91 And that's the standard way of treating. 00:10:51.94\00:10:53.51 Chemo, radiation but it's going to be in prevention, 00:10:53.54\00:10:57.60 prevention with nutrition 00:10:57.63\00:10:59.19 and perhaps even using nutrition to treat. 00:10:59.22\00:11:02.46 I would love to see studies 00:11:02.49\00:11:04.03 that someone that they thought cancer at. 00:11:04.06\00:11:06.70 For example breast cancer in a woman. 00:11:06.73\00:11:08.63 That they found a breast cancer early on and they treated it, 00:11:08.66\00:11:12.65 you know aggressively got the tumor out, 00:11:12.68\00:11:14.20 make sure they wasn't any spread, 00:11:14.23\00:11:15.97 and then they used that woman 00:11:16.00\00:11:17.57 and said listen, we are going to treat them 00:11:17.60\00:11:19.87 with a really healthy diet, not an American diet, 00:11:19.90\00:11:22.51 a really healthy diet, fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains. 00:11:22.54\00:11:25.29 Eliminate the things that we think 00:11:25.32\00:11:26.61 might be turning on cancer. 00:11:26.64\00:11:28.14 And study that group with may be a group 00:11:28.17\00:11:30.17 that does not get traditional nutrition 00:11:30.20\00:11:32.23 and I guarantee you, that we would see dramatic, 00:11:32.26\00:11:35.50 we've already known that people who eat well, 00:11:35.53\00:11:37.32 some of the studies have shown in breast cancer, 00:11:37.35\00:11:39.66 that the recurrence rate is much, much less. 00:11:39.69\00:11:42.11 Well, you know, we can look at that study 00:11:42.14\00:11:44.24 that hasn't happened yet. 00:11:44.27\00:11:45.45 But we can sort of look at it 00:11:45.48\00:11:46.52 because we know that we didn't have the problem 00:11:46.55\00:11:49.30 and now we do have the problem. 00:11:49.33\00:11:51.00 What's the difference between when we didn't have the problem 00:11:51.03\00:11:53.41 and when we do have the problem? 00:11:53.44\00:11:55.11 And a lot of things you talked about 00:11:55.14\00:11:57.42 the lack of rest, the lack of good nutrition, 00:11:57.45\00:12:00.52 the increase in our environment of toxins 00:12:00.55\00:12:04.21 that promote cancer growth. 00:12:04.24\00:12:06.92 The use of high fat foods, animal products, 00:12:06.95\00:12:10.39 what not, so it just makes sense to me 00:12:10.42\00:12:13.07 that if we want to keep from having cancer 00:12:13.10\00:12:15.68 or even if we have cancer and we want to reverse it, 00:12:15.71\00:12:18.71 it would make sense to me that 00:12:18.74\00:12:19.80 we would start doing those very things 00:12:19.83\00:12:23.32 that were necessary for caner not to exist. 00:12:23.35\00:12:26.02 Well I'll be too far off to say that. 00:12:26.05\00:12:27.59 Charles, I think you've got it perfectly, okay. 00:12:27.62\00:12:30.50 I think you've got it purposely. 00:12:30.53\00:12:31.89 And remember, you know, there is a place 00:12:31.92\00:12:34.19 for what we have in modern medicine for cancer 00:12:34.22\00:12:36.38 but when you see the rates going up every year, 00:12:36.41\00:12:39.11 we are doing something wrong. 00:12:39.14\00:12:40.73 There needs to be a refocus 00:12:40.76\00:12:42.20 and a rethinking about this thing. 00:12:42.23\00:12:43.92 Dr. Hippocrates said, let food be thy medicine. 00:12:43.95\00:12:47.84 And medicine be thy food. 00:12:47.87\00:12:49.75 You know he wasn't so far off base 00:12:49.78\00:12:52.17 and yet as our nutrition has changed, 00:12:52.20\00:12:54.61 as marketing has changed, 00:12:54.64\00:12:56.06 you know no one out there is going to tell you, 00:12:56.09\00:12:58.12 you know not to eat this way 00:12:58.15\00:12:59.22 because a lot of people are making money there's FDA, 00:12:59.25\00:13:01.34 a lot of people are marketing this 00:13:01.37\00:13:02.81 because there's a lot of jobs at stake, 00:13:02.84\00:13:04.29 so each one of us as individuals 00:13:04.32\00:13:06.22 have to take the time to learn about cancer 00:13:06.25\00:13:09.15 or learn about our bodies. 00:13:09.18\00:13:10.64 You are your own best physician, Charles. Not me. 00:13:10.67\00:13:13.31 You are your best physician, 00:13:13.34\00:13:14.75 with God as the ultimate physician. 00:13:14.78\00:13:16.30 Well, we are going to take a short break now 00:13:16.33\00:13:17.53 and when we come back, 00:13:17.56\00:13:18.59 we'll talk more about some of the questions 00:13:18.62\00:13:20.33 that have come in to heartwiseministries.org 00:13:20.36\00:13:22.70 concerning cancer and nutrition. 00:13:22.73\00:13:24.94 What I guess the message we're trying to say is, 00:13:24.97\00:13:27.69 here that they are connected. Yes. 00:13:27.72\00:13:29.09 Cancer and nutrition, there is a connection there, 00:13:29.12\00:13:31.01 a very viable connection. 00:13:31.04\00:13:32.80 People like T Colin Campbell have shown this 00:13:32.83\00:13:34.88 to be very conclusive, that when you change your diet, 00:13:34.91\00:13:37.84 you change not only your chances of having cancer 00:13:37.87\00:13:41.73 but you can also deal with cancer with nutrition. 00:13:41.76\00:13:44.46 So we'll talk more about that 00:13:44.49\00:13:45.52 and your questions for heartwiseministries.org, 00:13:45.55\00:13:47.87 so stay right where you are. 00:13:47.90\00:13:49.20
