00:01 Welcome back to the program,
00:02 I'm Charles Mills here with Dr. James Marcum. 00:04 Now Dr. Marcum, I know for a fact that you would not 00:06 be saying what you're saying here if you didn't 00:10 have an alternative... because there are people 00:12 out there who are taking medicines... 00:14 they are spending a lot of money, a lot of time, 00:17 and a lot of energy doing what their doctor says, 00:20 and you're saying, "Now wait a minute... 00:22 be careful, medicines can kill" 00:23 Give them some encouragement that there may be something 00:27 they're missing in all of this. 00:29 What would that be? Right 00:30 You know, medicines can change a body's chemistry, 00:33 can help things work out okay. 00:35 But a long time ago, there was someone that said, 00:37 "Listen, have this apple, EAT it you're going to live FOREVER!" 00:42 You know, what's said is not always entirely true. 00:47 and 98% truth can still be a lie. 00:51 And so medications do change our chemistry, 00:54 and some medications are needed, 00:55 but what I want our listeners and our viewers 00:58 to understand today, is these same medications 01:01 that can help us are also killing us. 01:04 Not because we choose that, we don't want that to happen, 01:07 but a lot of people don't realize that these medications 01:10 can cause addictions. 01:12 There are mistakes that can be made. 01:14 There are adverse reactions. 01:16 There are all sorts of things that can happen with 01:18 these medications that can make a body go poorly. 01:22 Now what's the alternative if we don't take our medicines? 01:25 Well, I want people to ask and say, 01:26 "Listen, why am I on this medication, 01:28 do I need to take it?" 01:30 Now luckily for us, when I was struggling with 01:33 all this medication, when people were dying 01:35 not only from medications, from many other things, 01:38 I think about chemotherapy... 01:40 I had a patient once, Charles, that had a bone marrow 01:43 transplant and before we do that we gave him very 01:48 powerful chemotherapy to treat a condition 01:50 called "multiple myeloma" a bone marrow disease... 01:53 Well, the chemotherapy, everyone knows that 01:57 is a very dangerous thing. 01:58 It drops your blood counts. 02:00 It makes you susceptible to infections. 02:04 It wipes you out basically. 02:06 But we give that in order to hopefully have 02:08 the good cells rise up and take charge, 02:11 but no matter what we did on this gentleman, 02:13 the medicine killed him, and he didn't have a chance. 02:17 He knew that was a side-effect, we knew it was a side-effect. 02:21 We looked at the risks and benefits in this treatment... 02:24 But I felt so bad that we didn't have 02:25 something more to offer him, 02:27 and in that soul-searching, looking for answers, 02:31 that's when I realized, the real answers are in the Bible. 02:36 The real answers, the Biblical technologies are there, 02:38 and I wish I had known what I know now then... 02:42 because I would have said, "Listen, the medicines 02:45 this chemotherapy is risky and it might take your life" 02:48 "It also might help save your life. " 02:50 "But at the same time, I know a person, 02:54 a GOD that can give you life, that can heal you 02:57 no matter what happens here. " 02:59 I wish I had given that. 03:00 And then as I studied, I realized there's Biblical 03:03 technology, there are Biblical prescriptions 03:05 that God has given us that changes our chemistry 03:08 and can treat the very same things that these 03:11 medications can do and yet we've gotten far away from that! 03:15 If I was an evil one, wanting to 03:17 destroy the world, that's what I would do... 03:19 I'd give everyone a bunch of quick fixes; 03:21 I would get them depending on us, depending on doctors, 03:24 and not looking at the Great Physician. 03:26 If I was out there and I had a bunch of television shows 03:29 about a bunch of doctors that could have 03:31 all this fancy technology, and we could do a 03:33 brain transplant, we could do this medicine 03:35 and that medicine and look at what we can do... 03:38 Or better yet, I'd have a bunch of lifestyle people 03:40 telling people, "Listen if you exercise and eat the right foods 03:43 you can live forever! Eat this you'll never die!" 03:46 And yet, I would take everyone's attention off the true God, 03:50 the Master Physician and His Plan 03:52 that He gave us way back then. 03:54 Well our alternative is to get back to the way 03:57 God wanted us to live, 03:58 the way God wanted us to think, 04:01 the way God wanted us to eat, 04:03 the way God wanted us to love and serve each other. 04:05 That's the real solution to healthcare dilemma. 04:08 And as we look at these medications, 04:10 it's not only the medications that are destroying us, Charles, 04:13 EVERYTHING ELSE is destroying us too! 04:16 It's just not ONE thing, 04:17 but we need to look at the big picture, 04:18 and we need to get back and look at God's picture, 04:20 and God's Plan for each one of us. 04:22 This can never be legislated. 04:24 You can never go in a doctor's office and get a magic pill, 04:27 but this comes from God and your relationship with Him. 04:30 And that's why I want to point out to everyone 04:32 that this is the ultimate prescription that we have. 04:34 That's why we named this program "The Ultimate Prescription" 04:37 We wanted to be the ONLY health program out there 04:40 ...we don't want to be the only one, but I think we are 04:42 that points to God as the Prescription FIRST that we go to 04:45 before we even go to modern medicine 04:47 even though there's a place for it... 04:49 Because we want to have LIFE! 04:52 We want to know the SOURCE of life... 04:53 And it only makes sense, if you want real answers to the world, 04:57 you go back to the One that created us. 04:59 You don't go to the one that's trying to DESTROY US! 05:01 So anyway, in this battle with medicines, 05:05 I've learned that - and I know that medicines can kill, 05:08 but also know that there are many other things that can kill 05:10 and there's only one thing that can give LIFE, 05:12 and that's the ultimate prescription with our Creator... 05:15 and that's what I want to take our viewers back to... 05:17 To realize medicines have its place, 05:20 but let's get back to Biblical technology 05:22 and learn from our Creator, 05:23 and let Him HEAL US! 05:25 Maybe He can take us off these medicines. 05:27 Maybe He can help us realize that this is DANGEROUS for me. 05:29 Maybe there is another way I can get off of it. 05:32 And even if we are killed some day, 05:34 we could have TOTAL peace 05:36 and we can have ultimate healing in that relationship. 05:38 Hmm-mmm, my, my, my 05:40 I'm sorry I got off on my soapbox here! 05:42 I LOVE that soapbox! That's a wonderful soapbox. 05:44 But you know what... how many times are we talking like that? 05:47 Are we afraid to say things like that? 05:49 You know, why not when you go to the doctor's office... 05:52 you have doctors that say, 05:53 "Listen the Great Creator, the One I serve, 05:56 let's deal with what He says FIRST, 05:58 and THEN we'll go to modern medicine, 06:00 then we'll go to lifestyle second. 06:02 And you can be safe in that every single time. 06:04 We don't hear that enough and that's what we want to give 06:06 AN ALTERNATIVE... 06:08 Another way for people to think about their health and healing. 06:11 Well, let's look at some of the questions that have come into 06:14 heartwiseministries. org on this subject 06:18 First question - What is anaphylactic reaction, 06:21 and what causes it? I've heard about this. 06:23 Yeah... Pretty bad stuff. 06:24 Anaphylaxis is probably the most dangerous thing 06:27 that can happen when a person takes a medicine, Charles 06:30 And we normally see it with antibiotics, 06:33 but any medication can cause anaphylaxis... 06:36 And that's literally when you put something into your body 06:40 your immune system has not seen it, 06:42 and literally some antibiotics, specifically the body attacks it 06:46 and you have the worse reaction you can imagine. 06:48 the body attacks and in the process of attacking, 06:51 your blood pressure goes low, 06:52 all sorts of bad organ systems happen... 06:54 We call this anaphylactic SHOCK 06:56 because the blood pressure... 06:58 the system attacks this foreign object 07:00 it sees this as DANGEROUS. 07:01 So the body, in all of its immune system, 07:03 and all of its power, attacks this foreign object 07:06 and then it can lead to all sorts of organ system damage. 07:09 Unfortunately, every year people die from anaphylaxis. 07:13 This terrible reaction that comes when they put something 07:15 in their body that they don't know what it is. 07:18 And we see that in other substances too.. 07:19 you get a shot or some vaccination. 07:22 Sometimes there are other reactions, 07:23 so any medication that you take, 07:25 there's always a chance that your own immune system 07:28 might attack it. 07:29 So what do you do as a doctor when you prescribe something, 07:32 how do you watch them? 07:33 Well first of all, we'd say that there's always a chance 07:36 So if you have this, go to the emergency room. 07:38 If we get them right away sometimes we can reverse it 07:41 with medications to support the circulatory system 07:44 which goes into collapse when this happens, 07:46 and then of course, if they've ever had this, 07:48 they never ever can take that medication again... 07:51 because the body is just going to attack again. 07:53 We see this quite a bit and, you know, 07:56 some people have reactions to 07:57 blood products that were given them. 07:58 Some people have reactions to common things like shellfish 08:01 or a certain antibiotic. 08:02 We see that in penicillin quite a bit. 08:04 They have anaphylactic shock. 08:06 So anaphylaxis is an extreme body attack 08:09 to a foreign object that can be life-threatening. 08:13 Okay - all right! Question number 2... 08:15 I know where you're going with thing and this is going to 08:21 surprise a lot of people too. 08:22 Are there any medications that have absolutely NO side effects? 08:26 Let me think... Not that I know of - okay 08:33 I don't know any medication that never has had 08:36 a handout with zero side-effects. 08:38 I was trying to think... 08:39 Well, you know, a placebo, a sugar pill, 08:42 but then I started thinking, 08:43 well, a sugar pill could change your sugar, 08:45 and it could change the way you think, 08:47 so there's really no medicine that doesn't have 08:49 at least A side effect. 08:51 And you think of some side effects that 08:52 aren't too dangerous, but almost any one could 08:54 cause anaphylaxis, some of them can 08:56 lower your blood pressure. 08:57 some of them could cause bad rashes, 08:59 they interact with other medicines... 09:00 So there isn't any medicine that I KNOW of 09:02 ...even oxygen - some people say that's a medication 09:05 but you can give too much oxygen to some people too 09:08 ...THAT could be toxic! 09:10 So no, I don't know any medicine that DOESN'T have 09:12 at least A side effect. All right! 09:14 I guess what we're trying to say is that.. 09:17 Be careful... When you take a medication 09:19 talk to your doctor about it; 09:21 find out what's possible here, and what might happen, 09:24 and be prepared for it. 09:25 Don't just simply... take that little bag home 09:27 open it up and swallow it down and think everything's fixed! 09:30 That's not true - not yet. 09:31 So just make sure you're careful about that - 09:33 I guess is the message you're trying to say here. 09:35 All right - question #3 here... 09:37 I am on a statin and have muscle aches, 09:39 should I stop the medication? 09:41 I would say, "yes you should" 09:43 One of the side effects of statins is "myositis" 09:47 or muscle weakness. 09:48 Muscle weakness - if it's severe enough can make a chemical 09:51 called "CPK" creatine phosphokinase 09:54 If that's in a high enough level that can shut down your kidneys 09:58 So the absolute - if you're having muscle aches, 10:00 that could be a sign of myositis that could be 10:02 a dangerous side effect of medicines. 10:04 In fact, some of the statins have been pulled off the market 10:07 because it caused these dangerous side-effects. 10:09 All right, very good. 10:10 I think we have time for one more - yes! 10:12 Very quickly, when I read the information on a 10:14 medication handout, it scares me to death. 10:16 How do I know if a medication is really SAFE? 10:18 Is it possible to be safe? 10:20 Yeah - No medicine is entirely safe, 10:23 and that's why you have to balance the risk of the 10:25 medication versus the benefits, 10:28 and you have to look at that very closely. 10:30 And if you're bouncing your head against the wall... 10:33 over and over, you're smacking your head... 10:35 Well, is the treatment to give you morphine for that? 10:38 ...Or to quit banging your head on the wall? 10:40 So the real treatment might be to quit banging 10:42 your head on the wall. 10:44 So unfortunately, as a society, 10:45 we're banging our heads on the wall. 10:48 We're taking medicines and we're not 10:49 getting at the problem. 10:51 So no medicine is absolutely safe. 10:53 See if you can be on as little as you can, 10:55 and see if there are natural things you can, 10:56 based on the Biblical technology, 10:58 and your relationship with the Creator, 11:00 to change your chemistry. 11:02 And that Biblical technology is put God 11:04 put in place during Creation week. 11:06 We'll be talking about that on other programs. 11:08 We'll take a short break and when we come back, 11:10 let's talk - the Master physician 11:14 Stay where you are... 11:15 We've been talking about medications, 11:18 and I hope you realize the fact that medications 11:21 can kill you. 11:22 Medications can be dangerous. 11:25 Medications do have a place in treatment. 11:28 And as you can see, I'm very passionate about this subject. 11:32 Well why am I so passionate? 11:33 Well I've been seeing first-line over the last 20 years 11:37 what medications can do, what they don't do... 11:40 and it's time for someone to 11:41 step up to the plate and tell the truth! 11:44 Medications have a place but they can kill. 11:47 And I hope each one of you today realizes, 11:49 if you're taking medications, LOOK at them, 11:51 and be very careful. 11:53 Learn what they interact with. 11:55 Learn what these medications do. 11:57 And also, ask the person that put you on these medications 12:00 whether there are any way you can be off 1 or 2 of them 12:03 Perhaps you can make some lifestyle changes 12:06 and improve your chemistry. 12:08 There might be someone out there that needs prayer today. 12:10 They might be on a medication, 12:12 they might need special help from God, the Master Physician, 12:15 and on this program, "The Ultimate Prescription," 12:18 we want to always look for the ultimate source of healing, 12:21 the ultimate source of power - Our God. 12:23 Let's bow our heads together... 12:25 Father God... We want to thank you for leading us, 12:28 and help us ALL to look to You as the Ultimate Physician, 12:31 the Ultimate Source of Healing, 12:33 and to use Your Bible as the 12:35 source of healing us, Father... 12:37 And if someone else out there might need healing, Father, 12:40 please step into their life and be the salve, 12:43 be the Ultimate Physician for them... 12:45 Is our humble prayer... Amen 12:49 Well I hope you've learned something today 12:51 about medications. 12:52 I hope that you take this home and if nothing else, 12:55 realize that medications are a source of problems 12:58 in the United States and the world. 13:00 God be with you today. |
