Yeah. 00:01:44.86\00:01:46.71 John I hear that all the time. 00:01:46.72\00:01:49.19 I don't think anyone really likes 00:01:49.20\00:01:51.15 to exercise, some people do. 00:01:51.16\00:01:52.77 But if you think back 00:01:52.78\00:01:53.87 the way we were designed originally at, at creation. 00:01:53.88\00:01:56.95 We were designed to be up and moving around 00:01:56.96\00:01:58.97 all day long and rest at night. 00:01:58.98\00:02:01.29 So the first thing I want to tell you 00:02:01.30\00:02:02.75 that exercise is good for you. 00:02:02.76\00:02:04.48 It does a lot of chemistry in the body 00:02:04.49\00:02:07.12 It's worth about 10 or 15 medications, 00:02:07.13\00:02:09.60 makes you brain think good or makes you more efficient, 00:02:09.61\00:02:11.89 lowers the rate of diabetes even if you have normal weight 00:02:11.90\00:02:14.67 helps your blood pressure, helps prevent heart attacks, 00:02:14.68\00:02:17.12 helps prevent inflammation, helps prevent sleep apnea, 00:02:17.13\00:02:20.90 helps fight cancer, all most every condition exercises helps. 00:02:20.91\00:02:24.37 So exercise is--didn't a treatment 00:02:24.38\00:02:26.65 and I would like to write to write you a prescription 00:02:26.66\00:02:28.36 for exercise on the pad right now. 00:02:28.37\00:02:30.21 But lot of people know they should do it, but the how? 00:02:30.22\00:02:33.57 We always wonder how? 00:02:33.58\00:02:35.32 How do we make the changes? 00:02:35.33\00:02:36.41 Well, first is education and try not to make it too complex, 00:02:36.42\00:02:40.38 you know that you should you do it. 00:02:40.39\00:02:41.49 The first thing I would do is ask God 00:02:41.50\00:02:43.07 to help me to get into a simple exercise programme 00:02:43.08\00:02:45.57 for a month and you can do simple things 00:02:45.58\00:02:48.03 like I tell people well you know, 00:02:48.04\00:02:49.38 you can get up from your desk 00:02:49.39\00:02:50.75 and do this for a minute or two. Okay. 00:02:50.76\00:02:53.70 It doesn't have to be all at once, 00:02:53.71\00:02:55.27 it doesn't have to be in a fancy gym. 00:02:55.28\00:02:57.48 And what I try to tell people to do is change speeds 00:02:57.49\00:03:00.29 no matter what they're doing, 00:03:00.30\00:03:01.52 you know, because that's the way we were made. 00:03:01.53\00:03:02.82 We weren't made to work at the same speed all day long. 00:03:02.83\00:03:04.89 Right, right. We're made to do a little bit there, 00:03:04.90\00:03:06.60 may be little faster here change speeds 00:03:06.61\00:03:09.07 and what I do on a treadmill is I walk three miles an hour, 00:03:09.08\00:03:11.75 speed it up every five minutes It's that changing 00:03:11.76\00:03:14.11 that helps our cardiovascular system 00:03:14.12\00:03:16.16 and also changes our metabolism. 00:03:16.17\00:03:18.10 And some people think it's probably better 00:03:18.11\00:03:20.37 we call that interval training. Yes. 00:03:20.38\00:03:22.10 It's better to do short intervals 00:03:22.11\00:03:23.65 three or four times a day then all at once, 00:03:23.66\00:03:25.57 but for people who don't exercise 00:03:25.58\00:03:27.64 I would just get into a exercise program. 00:03:27.65\00:03:29.49 So John the first thing 00:03:29.50\00:03:30.57 I like you to do is dedicate this, this test to God 00:03:30.58\00:03:33.80 get that power in your body and get up three times a day 00:03:33.81\00:03:37.20 at your desk and do this for at least two or three minutes. 00:03:37.21\00:03:41.37 Do that for a week and then if you can get on a treadmill, 00:03:41.38\00:03:44.96 you can add that if you can park your car far away and walk 00:03:44.97\00:03:48.16 maybe you have stairs that you can take up 00:03:48.17\00:03:50.67 anything that has movement will help your cardiovascular system. 00:03:50.68\00:03:54.52 If you like to talk move around. 00:03:54.53\00:03:56.58 If you do watch television 00:03:56.59\00:03:58.50 during the commercial never sit down 00:03:58.51\00:04:00.49 you know, walk you know, if you gonna watch a sporting event 00:04:00.50\00:04:03.57 buy a treadmill and walk over the treadmill. 00:04:03.58\00:04:05.88 Try to incorporate movement into your day as much as you can. 00:04:05.89\00:04:09.52 Now we start doing movement, it will become a habit for you. 00:04:09.53\00:04:13.00 And you gonna have some good chemical results 00:04:13.01\00:04:15.14 the best one is probably this chemical called endorphin, 00:04:15.15\00:04:17.87 that's a feel good hormone. 00:04:17.88\00:04:19.62 When you start making more endorphins 00:04:19.63\00:04:21.23 after you exercise you gonna have that rush of feeling good, 00:04:21.24\00:04:24.00 and then you gonna know that God's 00:04:24.01\00:04:25.43 helping you wants to make you feel better 00:04:25.44\00:04:27.19 and then you're gonna be able to take the next step. 00:04:27.20\00:04:29.19 But you don't necessarily have to go to a gym and work out 00:04:29.20\00:04:31.80 even though some people can jump to that. 00:04:31.81\00:04:33.45 Some people can start and do it everyday. 00:04:33.46\00:04:35.17 But it really takes the power of God 00:04:35.18\00:04:36.79 to break these habits and doing something which you can stick 00:04:36.80\00:04:39.47 with till it becomes a habit. 00:04:39.48\00:04:40.82 So John that might be a place to start, 00:04:40.83\00:04:43.06 you know, and just move around. 00:04:43.07\00:04:44.73 If you're behind a television camera, 00:04:44.74\00:04:47.22 you know, may be you can move 00:04:47.23\00:04:48.37 your legs back and forth you know. 00:04:48.38\00:04:50.06 If you're, you know, there's lot of people 00:04:50.07\00:04:51.82 that can do things exercise all over. 00:04:51.83\00:04:53.69 If you're watching TV right now, well get up, get started, 00:04:53.70\00:04:57.76 you know, sit in front of the screen 00:04:57.77\00:04:59.10 and do some exercise here, jogging out get few things done 00:04:59.11\00:05:01.56 with once learn a little bit while you exercise. 00:05:01.57\00:05:03.90 Did you know that if you exercise and learn 00:05:03.91\00:05:06.71 the learning is more effective? 00:05:06.72\00:05:07.87 Why is that? 00:05:07.88\00:05:09.13 Well you have the oxygen going up there. Yeah. 00:06:17.30\00:06:20.08 Is this dangerous? 00:06:20.09\00:06:21.52 Well, Daniel that's probably one of the most common questions 00:06:21.53\00:06:24.88 I get in my office is people feel their heart skipping. 00:06:24.89\00:06:27.88 And again whenever a person has a symptom 00:06:27.89\00:06:30.24 whether it be chest pain, I can't breathe 00:06:30.25\00:06:32.40 when something doesn't feel right in your body 00:06:32.41\00:06:34.52 we call it a symptom that needs to evaluated. 00:06:34.53\00:06:37.85 And some people can--are smart enough 00:06:37.86\00:06:39.64 and their own bodies could tell what it means, 00:06:39.65\00:06:41.09 some people need the help of a professional. 00:06:41.10\00:06:43.42 So lot of people come to me and they say, listen my heart 00:06:43.43\00:06:45.77 skipping and the first thing 00:06:45.78\00:06:47.47 I ask them right away is how long does it last? 00:06:47.48\00:06:50.11 Does it last a long time? 00:06:50.12\00:06:51.89 Are you passing out? Okay. 00:06:51.90\00:06:54.55 Does it go with anything else? 00:06:54.56\00:06:56.16 You know like my heart starts skipping 00:06:56.17\00:06:57.96 when, when, when someone is hitting me. 00:06:57.97\00:06:59.49 Well then the solution 00:06:59.50\00:07:00.50 to that is they have not someone sitting. 00:07:00.51\00:07:02.38 When the heart skips it could be one of many different things. 00:07:02.39\00:07:05.47 It could be extra adrenaline 00:07:05.48\00:07:07.27 in your body which is caused by stress. 00:07:07.28\00:07:09.89 So I start looking for things that might cause stress in life, 00:07:09.90\00:07:12.55 are you, are you dehydrated? 00:07:12.56\00:07:14.64 Are you sleeping enough? 00:07:14.65\00:07:15.70 Are you having pain in your body? 00:07:15.71\00:07:17.58 Or have you drank too much caffeine. 00:07:17.59\00:07:20.18 Are you worried about things? 00:07:20.19\00:07:21.33 Is work not going well? 00:07:21.34\00:07:23.29 Those are all things that cause stress. 00:07:23.30\00:07:25.85 Do you perhaps have an abnormal heart rhythm in there? 00:07:25.86\00:07:28.79 That's you know that's triggered. 00:07:28.80\00:07:30.41 And in that case we evaluate that by a monitor 00:07:30.42\00:07:33.26 we look at a hole through monitor 00:07:33.27\00:07:34.63 we can actually see what that rhythm is. Right. 00:07:34.64\00:07:36.55 There are some abnormal rhythms that people get no matter, 00:07:36.56\00:07:39.96 no matter if they don't have any stress. 00:07:39.97\00:07:41.71 And those we can help with medicine, 00:07:41.72\00:07:43.37 we have a procedure called an ablation 00:07:43.38\00:07:45.33 where we can actually actually destroy 00:07:45.34\00:07:46.59 that rhythm and sometimes we can give medicines, 00:07:46.60\00:07:48.80 so that's a great place for modern medicine. 00:07:48.81\00:07:50.96 But most people I can find most people with palpitations, 00:07:50.97\00:07:55.13 we can usually make some lifestyle changes, 00:07:55.14\00:07:57.53 make their stress chemistry go down 00:07:57.54\00:07:59.39 and they are usually much better. 00:07:59.40\00:08:00.98 Ah, in this the cares of this world 00:08:00.99\00:08:03.15 can sometimes cause palpitation, 00:08:03.16\00:08:04.70 but I wanna let you know if you're passing out, okay. 00:08:04.71\00:08:08.10 That's dangerous, that's usually a sign 00:08:08.11\00:08:09.84 that this is very serious. 00:08:09.85\00:08:11.44 If it last for a long time, 00:08:11.45\00:08:12.98 you know, more than 5 or 10 minutes 00:08:12.99\00:08:14.60 that could be a more dangerous sign 00:08:14.61\00:08:16.74 that means there's not enough blood getting to your head. 00:08:16.75\00:08:19.61 Also certain medications that you might be on over 00:08:19.62\00:08:22.23 the counter medication, certain prescription mediicnes 00:08:22.24\00:08:24.78 can cause dangerous heart rhythm that makes it skip too. 00:08:24.79\00:08:27.76 So those are situations 00:08:27.77\00:08:28.90 where you definitely want a medical professional 00:08:28.91\00:08:30.81 to look at why, why your heart skips. 00:08:30.82\00:08:32.85 But everyone every now and then has a little skip, 00:08:32.86\00:08:35.16 you know, here or there. 00:08:35.17\00:08:36.19 I hate those when they have because, you know, 00:08:36.20\00:08:38.04 you figure this you have a heart. Yeah. 00:08:38.05\00:08:39.86 And the heart is keeping you alive and it just stopped. 00:08:39.87\00:08:42.76 Even if it's just one or two beats it just stopped 00:08:42.77\00:08:44.69 and that's kind of scary, because you just feel 00:08:44.70\00:08:47.15 that you know things aren't happening right in here. 00:08:47.16\00:08:49.04 Yeah, it's even more scarier if it doesn't restart. 00:08:49.05\00:08:52.58 That's true. 00:08:52.59\00:08:53.58 You know, or it doesn't quit doing that. 00:08:53.59\00:08:55.50 So the palpitations are very common 00:08:55.51\00:08:57.98 and you got to know know why you have the palpitations, 00:08:57.99\00:09:01.34 but the simple things that I would say 00:09:01.35\00:09:02.66 if your not drinking enough water, not getting rest do that. 00:09:02.67\00:09:05.30 Exercise actually helps palpitation due to stress. 00:09:05.31\00:09:08.61 So exercise might be another thing 'cause it makes endorphins 00:09:08.62\00:09:11.26 the opposite of the stress chemistry. 00:09:11.27\00:09:13.93 Taking deep breaths can sometimes help with that. 00:09:13.94\00:09:16.76 If a person has an abnormal heart rhythm Charles, 00:09:16.77\00:09:19.19 sometimes taking, rubbing the carotid arteries 00:09:19.20\00:09:22.15 can help break abnormal fast heart rhythm. 00:09:22.16\00:09:24.87 Sometimes straining down like they have to go to the bathroom 00:09:24.88\00:09:27.63 can break in an abnormal fast rhythm as well. All right. 00:09:27.64\00:09:30.71 So sounds like you're making some changes there, 00:09:30.72\00:09:32.87 you're going down and your forcing 00:09:32.88\00:09:34.25 the blood pressure to go up. 00:09:34.26\00:09:35.34 Well, you're activating 00:09:35.35\00:09:36.39 different parts of the nervous system. 00:09:36.40\00:09:37.85 Oh I see, okay. 00:09:37.86\00:09:39.08 This is the carotid sinus, turns on the parasympathetic. 00:09:39.09\00:09:42.04 Left side, right side? 00:09:42.05\00:09:43.12 It doesn't matter they both have that, you know, you can rub 00:09:43.13\00:09:45.66 that and it helps turn on the parasympathetic system 00:09:45.67\00:09:49.09 which can override this stress symptoms. 00:09:49.10\00:09:52.04 Same thing as deep breathing Yeah. 00:09:52.05\00:09:53.68 You also can sometimes over right. 00:09:53.69\00:09:54.98 Okay, very good. Yeah. 00:10:05.13\00:10:06.72 I also have a hard time concentrating. 00:10:06.73\00:10:09.01 How can I make my mind stronger? 00:10:09.02\00:10:11.49 Good question. 00:10:11.50\00:10:12.56 Yeah., and we talked about this earlier in the program 00:10:12.57\00:10:15.54 is I think the greatest thing is to plug into this word 00:10:15.55\00:10:18.39 called love and as we have more love, 00:10:18.40\00:10:21.05 we'll have less selfishness. 00:10:21.06\00:10:23.13 Love casts out fear as we have more love we'll have less fear 00:10:23.14\00:10:26.96 and all that stress chemistry will get better. 00:10:26.97\00:10:29.61 Other specific ways to make the mind stronger 00:10:29.62\00:10:32.30 since it is made of physical stuff, lets give the brain 00:10:32.31\00:10:35.88 the physical stuff it needs water, 00:10:35.89\00:10:38.72 good oxygen good circulation with exercises. 00:10:38.73\00:10:42.60 We know that some of the alpha omega 3 fatty acids 00:10:42.61\00:10:45.73 it's been shown to be very useful for brain health. 00:10:45.74\00:10:48.53 We also know that diet 00:10:48.54\00:10:50.22 filled with fresh vegetables 00:10:50.23\00:10:51.81 nuts and grains is very useful for that. 00:10:51.82\00:10:54.15 We also know that the diet 00:10:54.16\00:10:56.23 filled with saturated fats is bad for the brain. 00:10:56.24\00:10:59.33 We also know that too much process sugar 00:10:59.34\00:11:01.65 is bad for the brain. 00:11:01.66\00:11:02.92 Things like caffeine might be bad for the brain. 00:11:02.93\00:11:05.98 Being outside is good for the brain 00:11:05.99\00:11:08.53 being in the dark outside is bad for the brain. 00:11:08.54\00:11:11.02 Getting enough rest both the weekly rest 00:11:11.03\00:11:13.21 and the nightly rest is good for the brain, 00:11:13.22\00:11:15.45 thinking is good for the brain.
