Now don't get mad at us. 00:58 We're just the messengers. 01:00 Dr. Marcum in your book "The Ultimate Prescription" 01:03 you have identified what you call 01:04 deadly deceptions in this world. 01:06 Deadly deceptions that are very dangerous to us 01:09 and our families and to even our country 01:12 from time to time. 01:13 I'm gonna tell you what the deception is 01:15 and you tell us why they're dangerous, okay? 01:16 Well, first let's talk about what a deception is. 01:19 Okay. Good idea. 01:20 You know, for me a deception is 01:21 when someone's not telling the truth. Yes. 01:23 And it's even more deception when they're sometimes 01:25 even doing it on purpose. 01:27 And it comes across as truth. 01:28 People say this is the truth. Exactly. 01:30 And these type of deceptions usually damage you in some way, 01:33 shape, or form. All right. 01:35 Here we go. Okay. 01:36 Number one. Okay. 01:37 Deception number one, caffeine makes you think better. 01:42 Yeah, Charles. 01:43 Caffeine is a substance that over 90% of people 01:47 take on a daily basis. We see it in soft drinks. 01:50 We see it in things like chocolate. 01:52 It's everywhere. But caffeine is a stimulant. 01:55 And what a stimulant does is it also constricts 01:58 the blood vessels in our brain. 02:00 When the blood vessels in our brain are constricted, 02:03 we don't get enough oxygen 02:04 as we would if they weren't constricted. 02:07 Another thing that caffeine does is it decreases 02:09 a very important chemical in our brain called dopamine. 02:13 Dopamine is a chemical that helps us think, 02:15 it helps us move, it helps our brain function. 02:18 When this chemical goes down, 02:19 of course, we can't think as well either. 02:22 Also caffeine is known to be an addictive substance. 02:26 And addictive substances are not good 02:28 on certain neural pathways in our brain. 02:30 So there is three ways 02:32 that caffeine for the brain is not so good. 02:34 Now we're gonna hear from lots of other health professionals 02:37 that caffeine is good for this or good for that. 02:39 But as far as the brain goes, 02:41 caffeine doesn't allow your brain get as much oxygen, 02:44 changes the amount of dopamine. 02:46 And I go back to this Biblical model, 02:48 did we have caffeine in our lives 02:51 when we first started the earth? We did not. 02:54 And I'm afraid that people put it into products to get us 02:57 addicted to products so we keep buying them again. 03:00 We have this lift that comes from caffeine 03:03 but that lift is an unnatural lift. 03:06 And it causes a lot of other problems. 03:07 So one of the deceptions that caffeine is good for you 03:10 I think that can definitely be debated. 03:12 Oh, my goodness. 03:13 And you go in to work and all your coworkers are, 03:18 you know, drinking that coffee and everything. 03:20 And then they're supposed to work 03:21 and do creative things all morning. Yeah. 03:23 And they have just done something 03:25 that will damage that process. 03:26 I'm gonna tell you a story here. Okay. 03:28 And this is about me. 03:29 And God's really changed me a lot. 03:31 I used to be addicted to caffeine. 03:34 Many doctors are addicted to caffeine 03:36 and what happened to me is 03:38 everyday I go to work and I get one cup of hazelnut. 03:41 I like the flavor. I love the smell of that. 03:44 And if I didn't have my hazelnut coffee, 03:47 I would get-- I couldn't function. 03:49 I would go and see a patient take a little sip 03:51 and it just made me feel good, you know. 03:53 And made me feel like that's what I need to do. 03:55 Well, one day I went to the doctor's rounds 03:57 and the coffee machine was broke. I went ballistic. 04:02 I go, "My friend, where is my friend 04:04 that goes with me everyday. 04:05 That comforts me. That takes me along life's way? 04:08 What do I do?" I went crazy, Charles. 04:11 And I got mad at the machine. 04:12 I got mad at the person that would maintain the machine 04:15 'cause I didn't have this substance. 04:17 And I said, "You know, what is wrong with you?" 04:19 What's going on here? What is wrong with you? 04:20 When this causes this emotional response 04:23 even to this day bringing it up causes an emotional response. 04:26 So I said to myself, "You know, Jim, 04:29 you are addicted to the substance. 04:30 And that's not good. It's controlling your life. 04:33 And it's changing all this chemistry about you." 04:36 So I prayed to God and said, "God, you know, 04:38 I should be depending on You 04:40 to help me through the mornings and not this cup of coffee 04:44 that's making me addicted to it and I'm clearly addicted to it." 04:46 So I gradually weaned myself off the coffee. 04:49 I replaced it with water and exercise in the morning. 04:53 And I said, "God, please help me to depend on You 04:56 for that feeling that this coffee was giving me." 04:59 And, you know, it happens slowly. 05:00 He answered that prayer. 05:02 I felt the power of the Holy Spirit. 05:04 I'm glad to say I'm no longer addicted to coffee and caffeine. 05:09 But a lot of people would say that caffeine is good for you. 05:11 And there're some people that will make some arguments 05:13 that certain forms of caffeine might be beneficial 05:16 but in the grand scheme of things, 05:18 I think that's a deception 05:19 to really say that it's great for us. Okay. 05:22 Very good. All right. 05:23 Deception number two. Are you sure about this? 05:27 Daylight saving time was sold by politicians 05:32 as an energy conservation measure. 05:34 Isn't that true? 05:35 Well, it might be true that it was sold for politicians 05:38 but daylight savings time is another example of something 05:41 that's not necessarily good for us. Really? 05:44 There was a New England Journal article 05:46 and I think I quoted it in the book. Yes. 05:48 That tells when we switch the different time zones 05:51 we put stress on our body. 05:53 And that stress causes extra adrenaline. 05:56 We actually have more heart attacks, 05:57 more health problems when we change back and forth. 05:59 We have more heart attacks 06:01 when we change to daylight saving times and back? Yeah. 06:03 If you'll look at that article, it says, 06:04 we've more health problems when that happened. 06:06 Now if you think about it, well what's the science behind it. 06:08 Well, we know that the more daylight we have, 06:11 the more we can be outside, the more biomedics. 06:13 But when we change back and forth, 06:14 and our body fluctuates and has these sudden changes 06:17 that puts stress on us. Okay. 06:18 Anything that causes stress can increase 06:21 the chance of having a heart attack. 06:23 This is the straw that breaks the camel's back. 06:25 I mean, a healthy person 06:26 will not be able to able to satisfy this? 06:28 No. It shouldn't be. 06:29 But it has been shown that all these little changes 06:32 that we make for no reason-- Yes. 06:33 Causes health problems. Okay. 06:35 And this New England Journal article, 06:36 it definitely said that the changing times 06:39 hurt our bodies. 06:40 And we see it when people travel from time zones, jet lag, 06:43 we know they have more problems 06:45 when people don't get enough sleep 06:47 or to disrupt it suddenly, they have more health problems, 06:50 bad dreams, they have more health problems. 06:52 So this is a deception that they try to sell daylight 06:54 savings time as being good for you 06:56 but it's not good for your health. 06:57 All right. Very good. 06:59 Deception number three. Oh, my. 07:01 Sugar is good for you. Yeah. 07:04 And the keyword is high fructose corn syrup. 07:08 And someone said if we could eliminate 07:10 high fructose corn syrup, 07:12 we'd take away most of America's 07:14 and worldwide health problems. 07:16 High fructose corn syrup contributes to obesity. 07:20 60% of people are now overweight. 07:22 All these health problems that we've talked about 07:24 from head up-- from sleep apnea, to headaches, 07:27 to diabetes, to problems with the blood pressure, 07:30 to heart attacks, to damage to our joints, 07:32 to depression, all this is related to extra weight, 07:36 which is directly correlated with high fructose corn syrup 07:39 which is in everything, Charles. Oh, it's everywhere. 07:41 You know, you look at any package 07:43 and it says, "High fructose corn." 07:44 And you know what, because it got some bad press. 07:46 They're even changing the names now. 07:49 It might not be it but it's still in there. 07:51 So you gotta look at the labels and try to stay away, 07:54 I try to stay away from most processed foods. 07:56 But the argument that sugar is good for you, 07:59 well, that's not true especially high fructose corn syrup. 08:02 Now the natural sugars that you get in-- Fruit. 08:05 Fruit that is good for you. Okay. 08:07 But this unnatural sugar that they're putting in everything 08:10 because it's cheap, it's quick. They can do it. 08:13 It is not good for you. It increases our weight. 08:17 It damages our health. All right. 08:19 Not good. All right. 08:20 Deception number four. 08:23 Bigger is better. Bigger is better. 08:25 And we see that in advertising and commercials, 08:28 they want you to super size. Yes. Super size. 08:30 You know, years ago, they didn't have 08:32 all these bonanza food bars 08:34 where you eat more and more and more. 08:36 You know, bigger the better. 08:37 You've heard this term, "Let's super size it. 08:39 The bigger the more." 08:40 Well, most people don't need to eat everything we eat. 08:43 We don't need more. We actually need less. 08:46 Studies have shown that people that eat less 08:49 and have less calories than they really need 08:51 actually live longer. 08:53 They do better than people that overeat 08:55 and this is such a major problem in our society. 08:58 But if we could, you know, because we're super sizing it, 09:01 we're extra calories, an extra calorie here 09:04 we're slowing down the metabolism as we age. 09:06 We're exercising less. This puts stress on our system. 09:09 We need more modern medicine and the cascade goes from there. 09:12 So bigger is not better, actually less is more. 09:17 How do you like that? Less is more-- 09:18 I like that. Okay. 09:19 Now, Dr Marcum, here is one that we're gonna 09:22 get some eyebrows raised here. 09:25 I would say probably this is a tough one 09:27 for a lot of people that are watching this show right now. 09:30 You're calling this a deception. 09:33 Cow's milk is good for you. Yeah. 09:36 And the dairy industry and people aren't gonna like me 09:39 for exposing this to them what it is. 09:42 But if you think about it for a second 09:44 we are the only species that drinks milk from another species 09:49 after the weaning period. No one else is doing it. 09:53 We've now learned from books like "The China Study" 09:56 T. Colin Campbell that dairy products 09:59 cause health problems. 10:01 It causes these antigens in our body, 10:03 which stimulate allergies. It brings fat into our body. 10:06 A lot of health issues comes from the milk. 10:09 And yet we see it everywhere, milk is good. 10:11 They have these big milk mustaches saying, 10:13 "It's the best thing ever for us." 10:15 But we're now proving that science shows us 10:17 that we don't necessarily-- 10:18 milk isn't necessarily good for our health. 10:22 It also hurts a lot of, you know, 10:23 the cardiovascular system especially these fatty milks 10:27 that we get. It just-- 10:29 it's not true. It's not true. 10:31 I heard it said that cow's milk is very good for you 10:35 if you are a calf. Yes. 10:37 But other than that not so much. Okay. 10:40 Deception number six, the media tells the truth 10:44 and wants the best for you. Yeah. 10:48 All those beautiful commercials 10:49 they're not taking good care of us? 10:52 Well, I'm hoping that people don't feel that way 10:55 about this the ultimate prescription. 10:56 I hope that we're honestly 10:58 trying to tell you the truth as we know it. 11:01 But nowadays, the media you have to question everything 11:05 all the prescriptions on that, 11:06 the food, you know, super size it. 11:08 You have to question everything you read, 11:10 everything you see on the internet, 11:12 and the only way that I like the testing is 11:14 against the Word of God. 11:16 Does this make sense from God's word? 11:18 And if it doesn't make sense spiritually from what God says, 11:22 then I really have to question everything that's read. 11:24 And sometimes you're gonna have to question 11:26 what doctors tell you or other healers, 11:28 "Does this really work for you?" 11:30 So I would try to question 11:31 almost everything that's out there. 11:33 If we don't question, we never can really find truth. 11:36 You have to ask why to understand, 11:38 "Does this make sense biblically?" 11:40 You know, do we talk to people. 11:41 So the media is I don't think it's trying to tell us-- 11:44 the purpose of the media nowadays 11:46 is to sell products. Yes. 11:47 To increase revenue that's their purpose. 11:50 Not necessarily giving us. 11:51 Do they tell the truth sometimes? Absolutely. 11:54 Do they mislead sometimes? Absolutely. 11:57 So this is a deception, Charles. 11:58 I guess we could say that we would not mind at all 12:02 if people after watching this program 12:05 hurried to their Bible to find truth in what we're saying. 12:07 You wouldn't mind that, would you? No. 12:08 And that's what led me down this journey, Charles, 12:11 is all the medical literature 12:13 out there wasn't giving me the answers 12:14 that I was hunting for. 12:16 I wasn't trained not that they were purposely 12:18 just trying to deceive me. 12:20 But sometimes 98% truth is still alive. Yes. 12:23 They weren't telling me 12:24 everything I needed to know. Yeah. 12:26 They weren't trying to deceive me 12:27 but I didn't have the full picture. 12:28 And that's what I wanna give to people. 12:30 Give them that fuller picture of health. 12:32 Now here we go, deception number seven. 12:34 This is kind of surprising. 12:35 Is it a deception that we have a national healthcare crisis? 12:40 I thought we had one. Yeah. 12:41 Well, we--not only do we have a national healthcare crisis, 12:44 but I like to say we have a personal healthcare crisis. 12:48 If we could each individually take care of our own health 12:51 we wouldn't have a national. 12:53 There is no government 12:54 that's gonna be able to legislate health. 12:55 Tell you what to eat, what to think, 12:57 what to drink, what to do. 12:59 So we don't have a national healthcare crisis, 13:01 we have a personal healthcare crisis. 13:04 And it's being created by a plethora of factors. 13:07 And if we have a personal healthcare crisis 13:11 that would lead us to believe that we are the only answer 13:15 to that healthcare crisis. 13:16 We should not look to the government for the answer. No. 13:18 They're not gonna fix this problem or legislate this. 13:21 Your doctor's not gonna be able to fix this. 13:23 It's gonna become to you and that relationship you have 13:26 with the ultimate physician that helps you 13:28 see truth and make the changes you need to do. 13:31 Well, these are deceptions from the book, 13:32 "The Ultimate Prescription" by Dr James Marcum. 13:35 I recommend that you get a copy of this and check it out. 13:37 heartwiseministries.org is the place where you can do that. 13:40 We have more for your health on our return. 13:42 So stay right where you are. |
