Good idea. 00:01:18.98\00:01:20.12 You know, for me a deception is 00:01:20.13\00:01:21.64 when someone's not telling the truth. Yes. 00:01:21.65\00:01:23.53 And it's even more deception when they're sometimes 00:01:23.54\00:01:25.89 even doing it on purpose. 00:01:25.90\00:01:27.32 And it comes across as truth. 00:01:27.33\00:01:28.62 People say this is the truth. Exactly. 00:01:28.63\00:01:30.85 And these type of deceptions usually damage you in some way, 00:01:30.86\00:01:33.96 shape, or form. All right. 00:01:33.97\00:01:35.04 Here we go. Okay. 00:01:35.05\00:01:36.04 Number one. Okay. 00:01:36.05\00:01:37.59 Deception number one, caffeine makes you think better. 00:01:37.60\00:01:42.44 Yeah, Charles. 00:01:42.45\00:01:43.71 Caffeine is a substance that over 90% of people 00:01:43.72\00:01:47.57 take on a daily basis. We see it in soft drinks. 00:01:47.58\00:01:50.85 We see it in things like chocolate. 00:01:50.86\00:01:52.46 It's everywhere. But caffeine is a stimulant. 00:01:52.47\00:01:55.83 And what a stimulant does is it also constricts 00:01:55.84\00:01:58.42 the blood vessels in our brain. 00:01:58.43\00:02:00.62 When the blood vessels in our brain are constricted, 00:02:00.63\00:02:03.35 we don't get enough oxygen 00:02:03.36\00:02:04.74 as we would if they weren't constricted. 00:02:04.75\00:02:06.97 Another thing that caffeine does is it decreases 00:02:06.98\00:02:09.25 a very important chemical in our brain called dopamine. 00:02:09.26\00:02:13.24 Dopamine is a chemical that helps us think, 00:02:13.25\00:02:15.44 it helps us move, it helps our brain function. 00:02:15.45\00:02:18.02 When this chemical goes down, 00:02:18.03\00:02:19.66 of course, we can't think as well either. 00:02:19.67\00:02:22.50 Also caffeine is known to be an addictive substance. 00:02:22.51\00:02:26.42 And addictive substances are not good 00:02:26.43\00:02:28.17 on certain neural pathways in our brain. 00:02:28.18\00:02:30.55 So there is three ways 00:02:30.56\00:02:31.97 that caffeine for the brain is not so good. 00:02:31.98\00:02:34.70 Now we're gonna hear from lots of other health professionals 00:02:34.71\00:02:37.18 that caffeine is good for this or good for that. 00:02:37.19\00:02:39.78 But as far as the brain goes, 00:02:39.79\00:02:41.31 caffeine doesn't allow your brain get as much oxygen, 00:02:41.32\00:02:44.72 changes the amount of dopamine. 00:02:44.73\00:02:46.56 And I go back to this Biblical model, 00:02:46.57\00:02:48.81 did we have caffeine in our lives 00:02:48.82\00:02:51.91 when we first started the earth? We did not. 00:02:51.92\00:02:54.60 And I'm afraid that people put it into products to get us 00:02:54.61\00:02:57.60 addicted to products so we keep buying them again. 00:02:57.61\00:03:00.89 We have this lift that comes from caffeine 00:03:00.90\00:03:03.54 but that lift is an unnatural lift. 00:03:03.55\00:03:06.05 And it causes a lot of other problems. 00:03:06.06\00:03:07.89 So one of the deceptions that caffeine is good for you 00:03:07.90\00:03:10.31 I think that can definitely be debated. 00:03:10.32\00:03:12.69 Oh, my goodness. 00:03:12.70\00:03:13.69 And you go in to work and all your coworkers are, 00:03:13.70\00:03:18.42 you know, drinking that coffee and everything. 00:03:18.43\00:03:20.36 And then they're supposed to work 00:03:20.37\00:03:21.58 and do creative things all morning. Yeah. 00:03:21.59\00:03:23.32 And they have just done something 00:03:23.33\00:03:25.22 that will damage that process. 00:03:25.23\00:03:26.32 I'm gonna tell you a story here. Okay. 00:03:26.33\00:03:28.14 And this is about me. 00:03:28.15\00:03:29.62 And God's really changed me a lot. 00:03:29.63\00:03:31.23 I used to be addicted to caffeine. 00:03:31.24\00:03:34.08 Many doctors are addicted to caffeine 00:03:34.09\00:03:36.79 and what happened to me is 00:03:36.80\00:03:38.22 everyday I go to work and I get one cup of hazelnut. 00:03:38.23\00:03:41.65 I like the flavor. I love the smell of that. 00:03:41.66\00:03:44.47 And if I didn't have my hazelnut coffee, 00:03:44.48\00:03:47.02 I would get-- I couldn't function. 00:03:47.03\00:03:49.12 I would go and see a patient take a little sip 00:03:49.13\00:03:50.97 and it just made me feel good, you know. 00:03:50.98\00:03:52.99 And made me feel like that's what I need to do. 00:03:53.00\00:03:55.30 Well, one day I went to the doctor's rounds 00:03:55.31\00:03:57.67 and the coffee machine was broke. I went ballistic. 00:03:57.68\00:04:02.32 I go, "My friend, where is my friend 00:04:02.33\00:04:04.69 that goes with me everyday. 00:04:04.70\00:04:05.95 That comforts me. That takes me along life's way? 00:04:05.96\00:04:08.76 What do I do?" I went crazy, Charles. 00:04:08.77\00:04:11.30 And I got mad at the machine. 00:04:11.31\00:04:12.83 I got mad at the person that would maintain the machine 00:04:12.84\00:04:15.04 'cause I didn't have this substance. 00:04:15.05\00:04:17.09 And I said, "You know, what is wrong with you?" 00:04:17.10\00:04:19.28 What's going on here? What is wrong with you? 00:04:19.29\00:04:20.85 When this causes this emotional response 00:04:20.86\00:04:23.12 even to this day bringing it up causes an emotional response. 00:04:23.13\00:04:26.96 So I said to myself, "You know, Jim, 00:04:26.97\00:04:29.03 you are addicted to the substance. 00:04:29.04\00:04:30.54 And that's not good. It's controlling your life. 00:04:30.55\00:04:33.95 And it's changing all this chemistry about you." 00:04:33.96\00:04:36.65 So I prayed to God and said, "God, you know, 00:04:36.66\00:04:38.95 I should be depending on You 00:04:38.96\00:04:40.70 to help me through the mornings and not this cup of coffee 00:04:40.71\00:04:44.00 that's making me addicted to it and I'm clearly addicted to it." 00:04:44.01\00:04:46.74 So I gradually weaned myself off the coffee. 00:04:46.75\00:04:49.89 I replaced it with water and exercise in the morning. 00:04:49.90\00:04:53.48 And I said, "God, please help me to depend on You 00:04:53.49\00:04:56.34 for that feeling that this coffee was giving me." 00:04:56.35\00:04:59.03 And, you know, it happens slowly. 00:04:59.04\00:05:00.69 He answered that prayer. 00:05:00.70\00:05:02.17 I felt the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:05:02.18\00:05:04.03 I'm glad to say I'm no longer addicted to coffee and caffeine. 00:05:04.04\00:05:09.09 But a lot of people would say that caffeine is good for you. 00:05:09.10\00:05:11.78 And there're some people that will make some arguments 00:05:11.79\00:05:13.71 that certain forms of caffeine might be beneficial 00:05:13.72\00:05:16.55 but in the grand scheme of things, 00:05:16.56\00:05:18.51 I think that's a deception 00:05:18.52\00:05:19.79 to really say that it's great for us. Okay. 00:05:19.80\00:05:22.02 Very good. All right. 00:05:22.03\00:05:23.73 Deception number two. Are you sure about this? 00:05:23.74\00:05:27.83 Daylight saving time was sold by politicians 00:05:27.84\00:05:32.24 as an energy conservation measure. 00:05:32.25\00:05:34.66 Isn't that true? 00:05:34.67\00:05:35.66 Well, it might be true that it was sold for politicians 00:05:35.67\00:05:38.20 but daylight savings time is another example of something 00:05:38.21\00:05:41.61 that's not necessarily good for us. Really? 00:05:41.62\00:05:44.03 There was a New England Journal article 00:05:44.04\00:05:46.09 and I think I quoted it in the book. Yes. 00:05:46.10\00:05:48.20 That tells when we switch the different time zones 00:05:48.21\00:05:51.65 we put stress on our body. 00:05:51.66\00:05:53.69 And that stress causes extra adrenaline. 00:05:53.70\00:05:56.04 We actually have more heart attacks, 00:05:56.05\00:05:57.42 more health problems when we change back and forth. 00:05:57.43\00:05:59.92 We have more heart attacks 00:05:59.93\00:06:00.97 when we change to daylight saving times and back? Yeah. 00:06:00.98\00:06:03.12 If you'll look at that article, it says, 00:06:03.13\00:06:04.50 we've more health problems when that happened. 00:06:04.51\00:06:06.12 Now if you think about it, well what's the science behind it. 00:06:06.13\00:06:08.93 Well, we know that the more daylight we have, 00:06:08.94\00:06:11.37 the more we can be outside, the more biomedics. 00:06:11.38\00:06:13.39 But when we change back and forth, 00:06:13.40\00:06:14.83 and our body fluctuates and has these sudden changes 00:06:14.84\00:06:17.33 that puts stress on us. Okay. 00:06:17.34\00:06:18.94 Anything that causes stress can increase 00:06:18.95\00:06:21.65 the chance of having a heart attack. 00:06:21.66\00:06:23.03 This is the straw that breaks the camel's back. 00:06:23.04\00:06:25.75 I mean, a healthy person 00:06:25.76\00:06:26.90 will not be able to able to satisfy this? 00:06:26.91\00:06:28.33 No. It shouldn't be. 00:06:28.34\00:06:29.60 But it has been shown that all these little changes 00:06:29.61\00:06:32.00 that we make for no reason-- Yes. 00:06:32.01\00:06:33.82 Causes health problems. Okay. 00:06:33.83\00:06:35.20 And this New England Journal article, 00:06:35.21\00:06:36.73 it definitely said that the changing times 00:06:36.74\00:06:38.97 hurt our bodies. 00:06:38.98\00:06:40.46 And we see it when people travel from time zones, jet lag, 00:06:40.47\00:06:43.82 we know they have more problems 00:06:43.83\00:06:45.68 when people don't get enough sleep 00:06:45.69\00:06:47.22 or to disrupt it suddenly, they have more health problems, 00:06:47.23\00:06:50.00 bad dreams, they have more health problems. 00:06:50.01\00:06:52.26 So this is a deception that they try to sell daylight 00:06:52.27\00:06:54.67 savings time as being good for you 00:06:54.68\00:06:56.51 but it's not good for your health. 00:06:56.52\00:06:57.80 All right. Very good. 00:06:57.81\00:06:59.33 Deception number three. Oh, my. 00:06:59.34\00:07:01.52 Sugar is good for you. Yeah. 00:07:01.53\00:07:04.66 And the keyword is high fructose corn syrup. 00:07:04.67\00:07:08.93 And someone said if we could eliminate 00:07:08.94\00:07:10.66 high fructose corn syrup, 00:07:10.67\00:07:12.38 we'd take away most of America's 00:07:12.39\00:07:14.50 and worldwide health problems. 00:07:14.51\00:07:16.65 High fructose corn syrup contributes to obesity. 00:07:16.66\00:07:20.00 60% of people are now overweight. 00:07:20.01\00:07:22.47 All these health problems that we've talked about 00:07:22.48\00:07:24.56 from head up-- from sleep apnea, to headaches, 00:07:24.57\00:07:27.44 to diabetes, to problems with the blood pressure, 00:07:27.45\00:07:30.68 to heart attacks, to damage to our joints, 00:07:30.69\00:07:32.95 to depression, all this is related to extra weight, 00:07:32.96\00:07:36.31 which is directly correlated with high fructose corn syrup 00:07:36.32\00:07:39.63 which is in everything, Charles. Oh, it's everywhere. 00:07:39.64\00:07:41.51 You know, you look at any package 00:07:41.52\00:07:43.08 and it says, "High fructose corn." 00:07:43.09\00:07:44.71 And you know what, because it got some bad press. 00:07:44.72\00:07:46.81 They're even changing the names now. 00:07:46.82\00:07:49.17 It might not be it but it's still in there. 00:07:49.18\00:07:51.31 So you gotta look at the labels and try to stay away, 00:07:51.32\00:07:54.68 I try to stay away from most processed foods. 00:07:54.69\00:07:56.79 But the argument that sugar is good for you, 00:07:56.80\00:07:59.43 well, that's not true especially high fructose corn syrup. 00:07:59.44\00:08:02.36 Now the natural sugars that you get in-- Fruit. 00:08:02.37\00:08:05.53 Fruit that is good for you. Okay. 00:08:05.54\00:08:07.73 But this unnatural sugar that they're putting in everything 00:08:07.74\00:08:10.92 because it's cheap, it's quick. They can do it. 00:08:10.93\00:08:13.72 It is not good for you. It increases our weight. 00:08:13.73\00:08:17.42 It damages our health. All right. 00:08:17.43\00:08:18.97 Not good. All right. 00:08:18.98\00:08:20.66 Deception number four. 00:08:20.67\00:08:23.66 Bigger is better. Bigger is better. 00:08:23.67\00:08:25.72 And we see that in advertising and commercials, 00:08:25.73\00:08:28.82 they want you to super size. Yes. Super size. 00:08:28.83\00:08:30.73 You know, years ago, they didn't have 00:08:30.74\00:08:32.57 all these bonanza food bars 00:08:32.58\00:08:34.17 where you eat more and more and more. 00:08:34.18\00:08:36.12 You know, bigger the better. 00:08:36.13\00:08:37.33 You've heard this term, "Let's super size it. 00:08:37.34\00:08:39.36 The bigger the more." 00:08:39.37\00:08:40.36 Well, most people don't need to eat everything we eat. 00:08:40.37\00:08:43.73 We don't need more. We actually need less. 00:08:43.74\00:08:46.62 Studies have shown that people that eat less 00:08:46.63\00:08:49.56 and have less calories than they really need 00:08:49.57\00:08:51.81 actually live longer. 00:08:51.82\00:08:53.56 They do better than people that overeat 00:08:53.57\00:08:55.57 and this is such a major problem in our society. 00:08:55.58\00:08:58.73 But if we could, you know, because we're super sizing it, 00:08:58.74\00:09:01.33 we're extra calories, an extra calorie here 00:09:01.34\00:09:04.05 we're slowing down the metabolism as we age. 00:09:04.06\00:09:06.43 We're exercising less. This puts stress on our system. 00:09:06.44\00:09:09.60 We need more modern medicine and the cascade goes from there. 00:09:09.61\00:09:12.93 So bigger is not better, actually less is more. 00:09:12.94\00:09:17.60 How do you like that? Less is more-- 00:09:17.61\00:09:18.64 I like that. Okay. 00:09:18.65\00:09:19.67 Now, Dr Marcum, here is one that we're gonna 00:09:19.68\00:09:22.52 get some eyebrows raised here. 00:09:22.53\00:09:24.99 I would say probably this is a tough one 00:09:25.00\00:09:27.08 for a lot of people that are watching this show right now. 00:09:27.09\00:09:30.52 You're calling this a deception. 00:09:30.53\00:09:33.06 Cow's milk is good for you. Yeah. 00:09:33.07\00:09:36.89 And the dairy industry and people aren't gonna like me 00:09:36.90\00:09:39.91 for exposing this to them what it is. 00:09:39.92\00:09:42.18 But if you think about it for a second 00:09:42.19\00:09:44.77 we are the only species that drinks milk from another species 00:09:44.78\00:09:49.96 after the weaning period. No one else is doing it. 00:09:49.97\00:09:53.25 We've now learned from books like "The China Study" 00:09:53.26\00:09:56.17 T. Colin Campbell that dairy products 00:09:56.18\00:09:59.91 cause health problems. 00:09:59.92\00:10:01.44 It causes these antigens in our body, 00:10:01.45\00:10:03.43 which stimulate allergies. It brings fat into our body. 00:10:03.44\00:10:06.65 A lot of health issues comes from the milk. 00:10:06.66\00:10:09.00 And yet we see it everywhere, milk is good. 00:10:09.01\00:10:11.49 They have these big milk mustaches saying, 00:10:11.50\00:10:13.48 "It's the best thing ever for us." 00:10:13.49\00:10:15.28 But we're now proving that science shows us 00:10:15.29\00:10:17.68 that we don't necessarily-- 00:10:17.69\00:10:18.81 milk isn't necessarily good for our health. 00:10:18.82\00:10:21.98 It also hurts a lot of, you know, 00:10:21.99\00:10:23.69 the cardiovascular system especially these fatty milks 00:10:23.70\00:10:27.10 that we get. It just-- 00:10:27.11\00:10:29.03 it's not true. It's not true. 00:10:29.04\00:10:31.37 I heard it said that cow's milk is very good for you 00:10:31.38\00:10:35.46 if you are a calf. Yes. 00:10:35.47\00:10:37.89 But other than that not so much. Okay. 00:10:37.90\00:10:40.09 Deception number six, the media tells the truth 00:10:40.10\00:10:44.56 and wants the best for you. Yeah. 00:10:44.57\00:10:48.20 All those beautiful commercials 00:10:48.21\00:10:49.90 they're not taking good care of us? 00:10:49.91\00:10:52.68 Well, I'm hoping that people don't feel that way 00:10:52.69\00:10:54.97 about this the ultimate prescription. 00:10:54.98\00:10:56.67 I hope that we're honestly 00:10:56.68\00:10:58.39 trying to tell you the truth as we know it. 00:10:58.40\00:11:01.22 But nowadays, the media you have to question everything 00:11:01.23\00:11:05.02 all the prescriptions on that, 00:11:05.03\00:11:06.41 the food, you know, super size it. 00:11:06.42\00:11:08.44 You have to question everything you read, 00:11:08.45\00:11:10.42 everything you see on the internet, 00:11:10.43\00:11:12.31 and the only way that I like the testing is 00:11:12.32\00:11:14.28 against the Word of God. 00:11:14.29\00:11:16.17 Does this make sense from God's word? 00:11:16.18\00:11:18.71 And if it doesn't make sense spiritually from what God says, 00:11:18.72\00:11:22.62 then I really have to question everything that's read. 00:11:22.63\00:11:24.89 And sometimes you're gonna have to question 00:11:24.90\00:11:26.48 what doctors tell you or other healers, 00:11:26.49\00:11:28.76 "Does this really work for you?" 00:11:28.77\00:11:30.13 So I would try to question 00:11:30.14\00:11:31.75 almost everything that's out there. 00:11:31.76\00:11:33.74 If we don't question, we never can really find truth. 00:11:33.75\00:11:36.65 You have to ask why to understand, 00:11:36.66\00:11:38.53 "Does this make sense biblically?" 00:11:38.54\00:11:40.45 You know, do we talk to people. 00:11:40.46\00:11:41.63 So the media is I don't think it's trying to tell us-- 00:11:41.64\00:11:44.55 the purpose of the media nowadays 00:11:44.56\00:11:46.31 is to sell products. Yes. 00:11:46.32\00:11:47.74 To increase revenue that's their purpose. 00:11:47.75\00:11:50.34 Not necessarily giving us. 00:11:50.35\00:11:51.58 Do they tell the truth sometimes? Absolutely. 00:11:51.59\00:11:54.21 Do they mislead sometimes? Absolutely. 00:11:54.22\00:11:57.31 So this is a deception, Charles. 00:11:57.32\00:11:58.63 I guess we could say that we would not mind at all 00:11:58.64\00:12:02.01 if people after watching this program 00:12:02.02\00:12:05.05 hurried to their Bible to find truth in what we're saying. 00:12:05.06\00:12:07.73 You wouldn't mind that, would you? No. 00:12:07.74\00:12:08.84 And that's what led me down this journey, Charles, 00:12:08.85\00:12:11.66 is all the medical literature 00:12:11.67\00:12:13.13 out there wasn't giving me the answers 00:12:13.14\00:12:14.75 that I was hunting for. 00:12:14.76\00:12:16.19 I wasn't trained not that they were purposely 00:12:16.20\00:12:18.14 just trying to deceive me. 00:12:18.15\00:12:20.15 But sometimes 98% truth is still alive. Yeah. 00:12:24.50\00:12:26.24 They weren't trying to deceive me 00:12:26.25\00:12:27.32 but I didn't have the full picture. 00:12:27.33\00:12:28.74 And that's what I wanna give to people. 00:12:28.75\00:12:30.05 Give them that fuller picture of health. 00:12:30.06\00:12:32.38 Now here we go, deception number seven. 00:12:32.39\00:12:34.06 This is kind of surprising. 00:12:34.07\00:12:35.88 Is it a deception that we have a national healthcare crisis? 00:12:35.89\00:12:40.21 I thought we had one. Yeah. 00:12:40.22\00:12:41.50 Well, we--not only do we have a national healthcare crisis, 00:12:41.51\00:12:44.86 but I like to say we have a personal healthcare crisis. 00:12:44.87\00:12:48.63 If we could each individually take care of our own health 00:12:48.64\00:12:51.95 we wouldn't have a national. 00:12:51.96\00:12:53.04 There is no government 00:12:53.05\00:12:54.04 that's gonna be able to legislate health. 00:12:54.05\00:12:55.94 Tell you what to eat, what to think, 00:12:55.95\00:12:57.52 what to drink, what to do. 00:12:57.53\00:12:59.34 So we don't have a national healthcare crisis, 00:12:59.35\00:13:01.61 we have a personal healthcare crisis. 00:13:01.62\00:13:04.27 And it's being created by a plethora of factors. 00:13:04.28\00:13:07.35 And if we have a personal healthcare crisis 00:13:07.36\00:13:11.69 that would lead us to believe that we are the only answer 00:13:11.70\00:13:15.09 to that healthcare crisis. 00:13:15.10\00:13:16.43 We should not look to the government for the answer.
