And different types of apples. 00:01:45.63\00:01:48.14 There's different types of grapes. 00:01:48.17\00:01:49.84 I'm not a fan of the seedful grapes. 00:01:49.87\00:01:52.47 I like the seedless grapes. 00:01:52.51\00:01:53.84 The seedless when they're... 00:01:53.88\00:01:55.21 Different types of melons, you know? 00:01:55.24\00:01:56.75 There's just a great variety. 00:01:56.78\00:01:58.11 So when you walk into a store, I want you to see that you're 00:01:58.15\00:02:00.98 walking into a pharmacy. 00:02:01.02\00:02:02.42 And you want to pick out grapefruits and vegetables, 00:02:02.45\00:02:05.72 nuts and grains, that make your body chemistry as good as 00:02:05.75\00:02:09.22 it can possibly be. 00:02:09.26\00:02:10.59 And also, if you have a chronic disease condition, learn about 00:02:10.63\00:02:14.30 these fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains, that might help 00:02:14.33\00:02:16.93 treat chronic disease. 00:02:16.97\00:02:18.43 That sounds like a great plan, huh Nick? Yeah. 00:02:18.47\00:02:20.40 You, know, I'm going to go home and look in my refrigerator, 00:02:20.44\00:02:22.27 and if I don't see a rainbow variety of colors, 00:02:22.30\00:02:25.27 I'm going to go right to the shopping market and get 00:02:25.31\00:02:27.18 some new things to try. 00:02:27.21\00:02:28.68 You know, I said the word goji berry, 00:02:28.71\00:02:30.65 because I was thinking goji. Yeah. 00:02:30.68\00:02:32.58 I've never, I can't remember ever eating a goji berry. 00:02:32.61\00:02:35.92 I've heard of goji juice, but I've never seen a goji berry. 00:02:35.95\00:02:38.92 A couple of times I go goji berry, and the seeds, too. 00:02:38.95\00:02:42.36 You know, there's all sorts of seeds. 00:02:42.39\00:02:43.83 There's, you know, we eat pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds. 00:02:43.86\00:02:46.26 It's quite a variety. 00:02:46.29\00:02:47.86 Yes. Lots of different types of seeds you can eat. 00:02:47.90\00:02:49.76 And so there's a wide variety. 00:02:49.80\00:02:51.13 And it's usually all, they will all sort of keep the healthy 00:02:51.17\00:02:53.50 foods in one section. Uh huh. 00:02:53.54\00:02:55.37 And you want to spend more time in that section, 00:02:55.40\00:02:57.37 and the less time in things that are packaged in wrap. 00:02:57.41\00:03:00.54 And if you do have to go to the package and wrap section, 00:03:00.58\00:03:03.45 look at the labels, and try to get things with the least 00:03:03.48\00:03:06.28 amount of chemicals, the least amount of sodium, 00:03:06.31\00:03:08.98 the least amount of whole fructose corn syrup. 00:03:09.02\00:03:11.92 The least of that you can, and work that way. 00:03:11.95\00:03:14.66 And these are great steps to get you feeling better. 00:03:14.69\00:03:17.23 And, you know, just one step at a time. 00:03:17.26\00:03:18.83 You don't have to do everything at once. 00:03:18.86\00:03:20.60 That's right, just one step. 00:03:20.63\00:03:21.96 And that's the way you climb a ladder, right? 00:03:22.00\00:03:23.33 One step at a time. 00:03:23.37\00:03:24.70 I guess so, unless you can really jump up like a frog. 00:03:24.73\00:03:27.44 Yeah, sure. Not me, I don't go up on ladders much anymore. 00:03:27.47\00:03:30.44 Well, we've got some questions that are 00:03:30.47\00:03:31.81 coming from our website. 00:03:31.84\00:03:33.17 That's HeartwiseMinistries. org and we encourage you 00:03:33.21\00:03:35.74 to visit the website. 00:03:35.78\00:03:37.11 You can ask the doctor a question there. 00:03:37.15\00:03:39.05 You can request prayer for your health issue, 00:03:39.08\00:03:42.42 or you can pray for other people. 00:03:42.45\00:03:43.82 And there's lots of good health resources there. 00:03:43.85\00:03:45.59 So visit HeartwiseMinistries.org 00:03:45.62\00:03:47.82 And this viewer writes, My cholesterol is slightly elevated 00:03:47.86\00:03:51.49 and my doctor wants me to try a statin. 00:03:51.53\00:03:54.16 Are there any foods that I can eat to naturally 00:03:54.20\00:03:56.60 lower my cholesterol? 00:03:56.63\00:03:57.97 The answer to that question is, Yes. 00:03:58.00\00:03:59.83 But before I answer that question, you know, cholesterol 00:03:59.87\00:04:02.24 has been tied in to cardiovascular disease. 00:04:02.27\00:04:05.31 But a lot of people think, If my cholesterol's 00:04:05.34\00:04:07.44 perfect, I'm perfect. 00:04:07.48\00:04:09.04 Well, that's not necessarily true. 00:04:09.08\00:04:11.68 A lot of people think that if, you know, the cholesterol pill, 00:04:11.71\00:04:14.95 if there, you know, if they take that that's all they need 00:04:14.98\00:04:17.09 to do to prevent cardiovascular disease. 00:04:17.12\00:04:19.02 Well, that's not true either. 00:04:19.05\00:04:21.02 Now I put people on these type of medicines, statins, 00:04:21.06\00:04:24.49 based on their risk and benefits. 00:04:24.53\00:04:26.93 Unfortunately, some people have side effects on these statins. 00:04:26.96\00:04:30.23 It can hurt the liver, it can have memory problems, 00:04:30.27\00:04:33.37 there are different things that can happen with the statin. 00:04:33.40\00:04:35.60 It can also cause muscle pains. 00:04:35.64\00:04:38.04 So if you can get your cholesterol down naturally, 00:04:38.07\00:04:41.41 in your appropriate risk group, that's the best way to be. 00:04:41.44\00:04:45.08 Uh huh. Now what are things that increase the fats in the blood? 00:04:45.11\00:04:49.35 Animals increase it; has lots of fat. 00:04:49.38\00:04:53.52 Also we know that other things in the animal increase 00:04:53.56\00:04:57.49 the cholesterol as well. 00:04:57.53\00:04:58.86 So if you can stay away from animals, stay away from 00:04:58.89\00:05:01.56 processed foods, that will have you at the lowest risk. 00:05:01.60\00:05:05.53 But still some people have bad genes. 00:05:05.57\00:05:08.10 Their cholesterol is still high. 00:05:08.14\00:05:09.47 Well, there's some specific foods that have 00:05:09.50\00:05:11.47 been shown to help. 00:05:11.51\00:05:12.84 We talked about Brazil nuts. 00:05:12.87\00:05:14.41 Brazil nuts can lower cholesterol. 00:05:14.44\00:05:16.85 Flax can lower cholesterol. 00:05:16.88\00:05:19.21 Fiber, in different types of fiber foods, like greens, 00:05:19.25\00:05:23.02 can help lower cholesterol. 00:05:23.05\00:05:24.39 There is a substance out there called red yeast rice that has 00:05:24.42\00:05:28.42 this same chemical, HMG coenzyme reductase inhibitor, 00:05:28.46\00:05:32.29 that lowers it, too. 00:05:32.33\00:05:33.73 So there's lots of ways. 00:05:33.76\00:05:35.30 Oatmeal, fiber again can lower cholesterol. 00:05:35.33\00:05:39.43 So there's lots of ways we can lower cholesterol. 00:05:39.47\00:05:42.07 Exercise can help lower cholesterol. 00:05:42.10\00:05:44.61 And some people that are under lots of stress; stress tends to 00:05:44.64\00:05:48.38 cause problems as well. 00:05:48.41\00:05:49.88 So all of these are simple things, but even if everyone 00:05:49.91\00:05:52.65 does everything right, they still might have some bad genes. 00:05:52.68\00:05:55.72 And then that person sometimes the risk of a cholesterol 00:05:55.75\00:05:59.12 medicine is worth it. 00:05:59.15\00:06:00.49 You'll have to talk to your doctor. 00:06:00.52\00:06:01.86 Which of the patients I've put them on? 00:06:01.89\00:06:03.76 Well, people that don't have a side effect, that have bad 00:06:03.79\00:06:06.59 genes in their body. 00:06:06.63\00:06:07.96 I think it would help that type of person. 00:06:08.00\00:06:09.93 Or if you've had heart disease, and you don't have any 00:06:09.96\00:06:12.43 other risk factors. 00:06:12.47\00:06:13.80 Now you mentioned high fat diets, animal meat diets, 00:06:13.84\00:06:17.94 can cause problems for cholesterol. 00:06:17.97\00:06:20.28 Are nuts a problem, too? 00:06:20.31\00:06:21.64 Cause there's fats in nuts, but... 00:06:21.68\00:06:23.75 Usually if you eat plant based fats it's not a problem as long 00:06:23.78\00:06:28.02 as you don't overdue it. Okay. 00:06:28.05\00:06:30.22 Any, you know, they say you shouldn't eat more than about 00:06:30.25\00:06:32.12 15% of your total calories in fats. Okay. 00:06:32.15\00:06:35.22 Now you're going to talk to different nutritionists, 00:06:35.26\00:06:37.09 and read different sources, and it's going to tell you 00:06:37.13\00:06:39.39 everything in the book. Sure. 00:06:39.43\00:06:40.76 But this is sort of my understanding, and I sort of 00:06:40.80\00:06:43.40 have hung out with T. Colin Campbell. 00:06:43.43\00:06:46.10 I sort of agree with what he says, because it makes sense, 00:06:46.13\00:06:49.10 and also goes along with the Bible and other things 00:06:49.14\00:06:51.64 that we've learned. 00:06:51.67\00:06:53.01 Yep. We've got another question from a viewer who writes in and 00:06:53.04\00:06:55.31 asks, How can I treat nausea when I ride in the car? 00:06:55.34\00:06:58.68 Yeah. That's not a fun thing to experience. 00:06:58.71\00:07:01.25 No, it's never fun to be sick. 00:07:01.28\00:07:02.72 But ginger is a great way of treating nausea, okay? 00:07:02.75\00:07:07.16 Eat some, you know, a little slice of ginger. 00:07:07.19\00:07:09.92 You have different forms that you can put ginger in your body. 00:07:09.96\00:07:13.90 Ginger's also good for headaches, too. 00:07:13.93\00:07:16.26 It's good for inflammation. 00:07:16.30\00:07:17.63 So ginger has a lot of powerful benefits. 00:07:17.67\00:07:19.90 You know, you've heard of ginger ale when someone's 00:07:19.93\00:07:22.07 sick at your stomach. 00:07:22.10\00:07:23.44 Yep, I've had that. 00:07:23.47\00:07:24.81 It's the active ingredient is the ginger, not the sugar 00:07:24.84\00:07:26.17 in the drink. Right. 00:07:26.21\00:07:27.54 But it's the ginger that does it. 00:07:27.58\00:07:28.91 So if you get nauseated a lot, if you're pregnant, 00:07:28.94\00:07:31.05 if you're taking drugs that make you sick at the stomach, 00:07:31.08\00:07:33.88 if you're in a car that makes you sick at the stomach, 00:07:33.92\00:07:36.92 well taking in a little ginger might help you quite a bit. 00:07:36.95\00:07:40.06 And the ginger's not likely to interact with other 00:07:40.09\00:07:42.09 medications you might be on? 00:07:42.12\00:07:43.46 Well, if you're taking lots of it, and you're on medicines, 00:07:43.49\00:07:45.99 check with your doctor, because some of these can effect certain 00:07:46.03\00:07:49.06 medications, especially blood thinners. 00:07:49.10\00:07:51.93 So always check with your doctor just to be safe. 00:07:51.97\00:07:54.14 Alright, sounds like some good advice there. 00:07:54.17\00:07:56.20 And we know that there's a lot of other things that we can do, 00:07:56.24\00:07:59.04 other things that can help us achieve better health. 00:07:59.07\00:08:01.88 And we've got a short video by Dr. Marcum sharing another 00:08:01.91\00:08:05.35 Biblical Prescription for Life. 00:08:05.38\00:08:06.72 Let's have a look. 00:08:06.75\00:08:08.08 I'm Dr. James Marcum with your Biblical Prescription for Life. 00:08:08.75\00:08:12.92 Did you know that there's a Biblical prescription that 00:08:12.95\00:08:16.12 lowers your chance of depression, and also helps lower 00:08:16.16\00:08:19.36 your chance of having a heart attack. 00:08:19.39\00:08:21.03 Well, that Biblical prescription is found in the book of Genesis, 00:08:21.06\00:08:24.80 and that's animals. 00:08:24.83\00:08:26.17 Animals help lower your risk of heart attack, and help improve 00:08:26.20\00:08:30.14 and prevent depression. 00:08:30.17\00:08:31.87 This is my dog Daphne, and she helps lower my risk. 00:08:31.91\00:08:35.54 Did you know we were supposed to take care of the animals, 00:08:35.58\00:08:38.45 and they were supposed to take care of us? 00:08:38.48\00:08:40.75 The Centers for Disease Control, the National Institute of Health 00:08:40.78\00:08:44.15 that publish articles which showed those with pets like 00:08:44.29\00:08:47.19 Daphne help lower those risks. 00:08:47.26\00:08:49.69 Well, who would have thought that God gave us Biblical 00:08:49.72\00:08:52.89 prescriptions at creation? 00:08:52.93\00:08:54.66 Well, He did, and I hope you have an animal that can improve 00:08:54.70\00:08:57.73 your chemistry today. 00:08:57.77\00:08:59.63 I'm Dr. James Marcum, and this is your 00:08:59.67\00:09:02.70 Biblical Prescription for Life. 00:09:02.74\00:09:04.67 You know, we've shared that clip in a few other places, 00:09:08.44\00:09:10.81 and people love to see the dogs. 00:09:10.85\00:09:13.75 They love your dogs. 00:09:13.78\00:09:15.12 I like my dogs, Maxwell and Daphne. 00:09:15.15\00:09:17.25 They are Shorkie's.
