Yeah. 00:02:30.98\00:02:32.41 I mean, I don't know why we don't see those. 00:02:32.45\00:02:34.05 Yeah. 00:02:34.08\00:02:35.42 I guess, there's no money to be made. 00:02:35.45\00:02:36.79 No, that's part of the reason. 00:02:36.82\00:02:38.15 No one's making money, 00:02:38.19\00:02:39.52 but you know God has told us, 00:02:39.55\00:02:40.89 you know, back in the scriptures 00:02:40.92\00:02:42.26 that the food we eat, 00:02:42.29\00:02:43.63 you know, this is the plant, things that grow, 00:02:43.66\00:02:45.69 and if you look at greens, greens are green, 00:02:45.73\00:02:48.66 and they have chlorophyll in it, 00:02:48.70\00:02:50.03 they take the energy from the sun 00:02:50.07\00:02:52.33 and they harness that energy from the sun, 00:02:52.37\00:02:54.70 and plants give to us, 00:02:54.74\00:02:56.30 you know, they give us oxygen, they give us food, 00:02:56.34\00:02:59.37 you know, 'cause harness is that energy 00:02:59.41\00:03:01.18 and it has carbohydrates and good things, 00:03:01.21\00:03:03.04 and we eat those greens, 00:03:03.08\00:03:04.68 we harness that good energy 00:03:04.71\00:03:06.45 and it does good things to the body. 00:03:06.48\00:03:07.88 But not only that, 00:03:07.92\00:03:09.35 but not only is there healthy sugars 00:03:09.38\00:03:11.35 and carbohydrates in these, 00:03:11.39\00:03:12.72 but if you look at the color, 00:03:12.75\00:03:14.52 they have different types of chlorophyll in it 00:03:14.56\00:03:16.62 that does special things. 00:03:16.66\00:03:17.99 We have things in greens called phytonutrients. 00:03:18.03\00:03:21.46 Greens have numerous... 00:03:21.50\00:03:23.33 they have trace elements that are important for a body, 00:03:23.37\00:03:26.13 they've chemicals called nitrates 00:03:26.17\00:03:28.14 which are important for our body. 00:03:28.17\00:03:29.70 So greens are very important for our whole system. 00:03:29.74\00:03:33.71 In fact, I had a patient not too long ago, 00:03:33.74\00:03:36.38 he came to the office 00:03:36.41\00:03:37.75 and he was having a lot of angina. 00:03:37.78\00:03:40.15 What is angina? Yeah. 00:03:40.18\00:03:41.72 Well, angina is the type of chest pain you get 00:03:41.75\00:03:44.92 when your heart doesn't get enough blood. 00:03:44.95\00:03:46.69 Okay. 00:03:46.72\00:03:48.06 So let's say you're doing something, 00:03:48.09\00:03:49.42 the heart doesn't get enough blood, 00:03:49.46\00:03:50.79 because we have blockages in the arteries of the heart. 00:03:50.83\00:03:53.03 Well, the heart doesn't get enough blood, 00:03:53.06\00:03:54.60 so you have a symptom, and usually it happens 00:03:54.63\00:03:56.63 when someone's doing things. 00:03:56.67\00:03:58.20 That's why I put people on treadmill test 00:03:58.23\00:04:00.00 to see if we can produce that symptom. 00:04:00.04\00:04:02.27 So this gentleman would just walk a short period, 00:04:02.30\00:04:04.31 again he get real tightness in his chest 00:04:04.34\00:04:06.44 that would go away when he walked, 00:04:06.47\00:04:07.84 we call that angina. 00:04:07.88\00:04:09.78 Well, he had been through numerous, 00:04:09.81\00:04:11.71 he had already been through bypass surgery, 00:04:11.75\00:04:14.22 he was a diabetic which makes arteries smaller. 00:04:14.25\00:04:17.55 Remember, the bypass doesn't take away the blockages, 00:04:17.59\00:04:20.02 there are still there. 00:04:20.06\00:04:21.39 And some of the blockages 00:04:21.42\00:04:22.76 through the years were getting worse 00:04:22.79\00:04:24.13 and now he's having chest pain, angina. 00:04:24.16\00:04:25.83 But he was on a lot of medicine 00:04:25.86\00:04:27.46 and we couldn't do any more procedures, 00:04:27.50\00:04:29.46 so I introduced him to the MET medicinal treatment of greens. 00:04:29.50\00:04:33.87 So he started eating greens three times a day, 00:04:33.90\00:04:37.41 and his angina started getting better. 00:04:37.44\00:04:39.57 I'm gonna stop you right there for a second. 00:04:39.61\00:04:40.94 Yeah. 00:04:40.98\00:04:42.31 How did he respond when you told him, 00:04:42.34\00:04:43.68 I want you to eat more greens? 00:04:43.71\00:04:45.05 Does that and it doesn't seem like maybe something that's 00:04:45.08\00:04:46.41 that significant to some people. 00:04:46.45\00:04:47.78 Good point, good point, because he didn't. 00:04:47.82\00:04:49.72 I had to show him the studies, 00:04:49.75\00:04:51.79 I had to show him the proof, and then I said, 00:04:51.82\00:04:53.92 "Well, listen, why don't you do it 00:04:53.96\00:04:55.62 for one week 00:04:55.66\00:04:57.69 and see how you feel, 00:04:57.73\00:04:59.06 and come back and let me know." 00:04:59.09\00:05:00.43 That's an easy enough thing to do. 00:05:00.46\00:05:01.80 Yeah, so what I did is I explain to him 00:05:01.83\00:05:03.37 how greens and spinach 00:05:03.40\00:05:05.27 had a chemical called nitrates in them. 00:05:05.30\00:05:08.30 And nitrates when it gets in the body 00:05:08.34\00:05:10.31 is converted to nitric oxide. 00:05:10.34\00:05:12.47 Right. 00:05:12.51\00:05:13.84 Nitric oxide makes the arteries get bigger, 00:05:13.88\00:05:16.01 in the heart they got bigger but it helps everywhere. 00:05:16.04\00:05:18.71 It helps in the brain, throughout the body, 00:05:18.75\00:05:20.95 it helps our blood vessels get bigger when we have, 00:05:20.98\00:05:22.78 more have nitric oxide. 00:05:22.82\00:05:25.05 And I also said, there is foods that we put in our bodies 00:05:25.09\00:05:27.76 that decrease the amount of nitric oxide that's made. 00:05:27.79\00:05:31.09 Fatty foods, you know, processed foods 00:05:31.13\00:05:33.70 that decreases nitric oxide, so when you eat those things, 00:05:33.73\00:05:36.77 the arteries don't get as big, 00:05:36.80\00:05:38.37 but when you eat these it gets big, 00:05:38.40\00:05:39.90 just like if I gave you nitroglycerin, 00:05:39.93\00:05:42.34 that's a nitrate. 00:05:42.37\00:05:43.74 And so I taught him to eat these things, 00:05:43.77\00:05:45.27 so he started eating just a handful. 00:05:45.31\00:05:47.41 He would just eat arugula, 00:05:47.44\00:05:49.08 a handful of this about three times a day. 00:05:49.11\00:05:52.38 And guess what? 00:05:52.41\00:05:53.75 All of a sudden he could start walking more. 00:05:53.78\00:05:56.28 Now the walking helped his health as well, 00:05:56.32\00:05:58.52 but when his arteries got a little bit bigger, 00:05:58.55\00:06:00.42 he notices that his angina got better quite a bit. 00:06:00.46\00:06:04.33 Now the arugula you said it has a nitrates in it 00:06:04.36\00:06:07.06 which make your blood vessel or your, what are they? 00:06:07.10\00:06:09.83 Not blood vessel bigger. 00:06:09.86\00:06:11.20 Well, it's nitric oxide to the endothelium 00:06:11.23\00:06:13.00 which is sort of the brains in the blood vessel, 00:06:13.03\00:06:15.10 it makes the artery start to get bigger. 00:06:15.14\00:06:17.14 If you remember, it's not how much blockage, 00:06:17.17\00:06:18.91 it's how much the arteries get bigger 00:06:18.94\00:06:20.44 when we need them to get bigger. 00:06:20.48\00:06:21.81 That was my question. Yeah. 00:06:21.84\00:06:23.18 Is the blockage still there? 00:06:23.21\00:06:24.55 Did the green helped to get rid of the blockage? 00:06:24.58\00:06:25.91 In certain situations if we get our cholesterol down, 00:06:25.95\00:06:28.88 and if we get our stress down, 00:06:28.92\00:06:30.42 if we eat a healthy enough diet, 00:06:30.45\00:06:31.92 get our fats out of the body, 00:06:31.95\00:06:34.06 it could help in the process of reversing it, 00:06:34.09\00:06:36.42 but for him it just gave 00:06:36.46\00:06:38.29 the endothelium nitric oxide more of that, 00:06:38.33\00:06:41.20 and it made the arteries get bigger. 00:06:41.23\00:06:43.16 Now he started, when he started eating greens, 00:06:43.20\00:06:45.17 Nick, he also started eating less 00:06:45.20\00:06:47.97 of the other bad foods he used to eat. 00:06:48.00\00:06:49.84 Okay. 00:06:49.87\00:06:51.21 He used to eat less of the fatty foods... 00:06:51.24\00:06:52.57 Okay. 00:06:52.61\00:06:53.94 The processed foods or things that would cause... 00:06:53.98\00:06:55.31 He liked ice cream a whole lot. Yeah. 00:06:55.34\00:06:58.75 And including the ice cream which had a lot of fat in it, 00:06:58.78\00:07:01.78 he started substituting greens 00:07:01.82\00:07:03.42 and he got fat and once he learned 00:07:03.45\00:07:05.12 the less fat he eats, the more greens he eats, 00:07:05.15\00:07:07.19 the better he feels. 00:07:07.22\00:07:08.56 Yeah. 00:07:08.59\00:07:09.92 The more he can do and he started enjoying his life. 00:07:09.96\00:07:11.96 But remember, greens, you know, this is arugula. 00:07:11.99\00:07:16.33 Okay. 00:07:16.36\00:07:17.70 And arugula is a very good concentrator of nitrates, 00:07:17.73\00:07:22.94 but lots of greens have beneficial, 00:07:22.97\00:07:24.57 you know, effects. 00:07:24.61\00:07:25.94 You know, spinach... 00:07:25.97\00:07:27.31 Right. 00:07:27.34\00:07:28.68 Kale, you know, collards, 00:07:28.71\00:07:30.51 you know, anything that's green has beneficial effects, 00:07:30.55\00:07:33.35 and there's lots of studies 00:07:33.38\00:07:34.72 that show that the arteries get bigger. 00:07:34.75\00:07:36.32 So not only does it help angina 00:07:36.35\00:07:38.65 but it can help lower blood pressure, 00:07:38.69\00:07:40.52 'cause the arteries get bigger. 00:07:40.56\00:07:42.36 It has also in addition to nitrates, 00:07:42.39\00:07:44.46 it has antioxidants in them. 00:07:44.49\00:07:46.26 Right. 00:07:46.29\00:07:47.63 You know, you've heard of oxidation in the body, 00:07:47.66\00:07:50.37 that's the body just getting older, 00:07:50.40\00:07:51.90 we say it's oxidizing. 00:07:51.93\00:07:53.37 Kind of like rusting in the inside. 00:07:53.40\00:07:54.74 Yes, rusting in the inside. 00:07:54.77\00:07:56.10 You know, how... 00:07:56.14\00:07:58.81 a good example of that is you eat a piece of fruit 00:07:58.84\00:08:01.44 and you see it get brown, that's oxidation. 00:08:01.48\00:08:03.88 Okay. It getting older. 00:08:03.91\00:08:05.31 That's happening inside of us all the time, 00:08:05.35\00:08:07.62 so these have things that counteract that process, 00:08:07.65\00:08:09.98 it's called antioxidants. 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.75 It helps with our, what we call free radicals in the body, 00:08:11.79\00:08:15.29 so greens can in theory help prevent slow down aging. 00:08:15.32\00:08:19.06 It helps make our arteries bigger. 00:08:19.09\00:08:21.30 And there's lots of good studies 00:08:21.33\00:08:22.86 that have been done it helps us. 00:08:22.90\00:08:24.23 One of the studies from the Annals of Internal Medicine 00:08:24.27\00:08:26.70 around 2000 00:08:26.74\00:08:28.07 show that people that ate greens regularly, 00:08:28.10\00:08:30.41 had a 20% reduction in strokes. 00:08:30.44\00:08:33.58 Really? 00:08:33.61\00:08:34.94 So greens help strokes and it probably helps 00:08:34.98\00:08:36.54 on many mechanisms, 00:08:36.58\00:08:37.95 it makes arteries bigger, 00:08:37.98\00:08:39.31 helps inflammation in the body, it does a lot of good things. 00:08:39.35\00:08:42.45 Another thing that the greens are very useful with 00:08:42.48\00:08:45.95 is the green, the green remember... 00:08:45.99\00:08:47.72 Have you heard that word chlorophyll? 00:08:47.76\00:08:49.42 Okay. Yeah. Yeah. 00:08:49.46\00:08:50.79 Chlorophyll helps many different things in our body. 00:08:50.83\00:08:53.23 Some people think it helps remove toxins from our body, 00:08:53.26\00:08:56.43 but one of the things it helps 00:08:56.46\00:08:57.80 is it decreases damage done to our DNA, 00:08:57.83\00:09:01.17 so when we have less mutations, 00:09:01.20\00:09:03.20 we have less chance of getting cancer. 00:09:03.24\00:09:06.11 So greens have been shown 00:09:06.14\00:09:07.48 to lower the risk of getting cancer. 00:09:07.51\00:09:10.11 One of the, another things that greens do 00:09:10.15\00:09:11.75 is when we eat greens, they go in our body. 00:09:11.78\00:09:14.62 Now sunlight hits greens and you know, that's, you know, 00:09:14.65\00:09:17.89 how the greens, you know, greens needs sun. 00:09:17.92\00:09:20.76 Yeah, chlorophyll needs sunshine. 00:09:20.79\00:09:22.32 But when greens are in our body, 00:09:22.36\00:09:23.96 we have a type of sunlight 00:09:23.99\00:09:25.49 called red sunlight hat hits in us, 00:09:25.53\00:09:28.26 that goes through us, it gets into our deep organs, 00:09:28.30\00:09:30.80 and actually studies have shown that it can activate 00:09:30.83\00:09:34.57 the greens in our body, 00:09:34.60\00:09:37.11 that activates a chlorophyll, 00:09:37.14\00:09:38.47 and the chlorophyll makes an antioxidant 00:09:38.51\00:09:40.21 called ubiquinone 00:09:40.24\00:09:41.58 which is turned into a substance 00:09:41.61\00:09:42.94 called coenzyme Q10. 00:09:42.98\00:09:44.81 So greens and sunlight tend to help us 00:09:44.85\00:09:47.65 even in ways we are just now learning. 00:09:47.68\00:09:49.55 Isn't that pretty cool? 00:09:49.58\00:09:50.92 So everybody has heard that the sun is good for your skin, 00:09:50.95\00:09:52.82 you need it to hit your skin, 00:09:52.85\00:09:54.19 but you're saying it goes deeper than the skin, 00:09:54.22\00:09:56.26 it goes into the organs even. 00:09:56.29\00:09:57.63 Yes, we're now learning that it can go into the organs, 00:09:57.66\00:09:59.89 it can also hit the greens that are already in your body 00:09:59.93\00:10:02.13 and the chlorophyll is already there 00:10:02.16\00:10:03.53 to do some wonderful things like make some antioxidants, 00:10:03.57\00:10:06.80 help your coenzyme Q10 00:10:06.84\00:10:08.54 which is needed for muscle health. 00:10:08.57\00:10:10.04 Wow. 00:10:10.07\00:10:11.41 These are antioxidant 00:10:11.44\00:10:12.77 so it does a lot of different things, 00:10:12.81\00:10:14.14 there's been studies done with kale. 00:10:14.18\00:10:15.94 Do you like kale? 00:10:15.98\00:10:17.31 You know, it's not my favorite green but... 00:10:17.35\00:10:18.85 Yeah, one up. 00:10:18.88\00:10:20.32 Well... I think it's... 00:10:20.35\00:10:21.68 I don't know it's just a little tougher. 00:10:21.72\00:10:23.05 Yes, I think so too. Yeah. 00:10:23.08\00:10:24.42 Yeah, but you know, you've heard a lot of, 00:10:24.45\00:10:25.79 lot of studies have been done on kale, 00:10:25.82\00:10:27.49 the kale industry realized, 00:10:27.52\00:10:28.86 "Hey, if we can do some studies, 00:10:28.89\00:10:30.46 we can sell more kale." 00:10:30.49\00:10:31.83 Yeah. Just like the drug companies. 00:10:31.86\00:10:34.00 So kale has been shown to improve the immune system. 00:10:34.03\00:10:37.87 Kale's been shown to decrease inflammation in the body, 00:10:37.90\00:10:41.74 improves the way our bowels work. 00:10:41.77\00:10:43.91 You know, greens have fiber, 00:10:43.94\00:10:46.07 fiber helps our bowels do better. 00:10:46.11\00:10:47.48 Right. 00:10:47.51\00:10:48.84 It helps everything in our body, 00:10:48.88\00:10:50.21 you know, improve, 00:10:50.25\00:10:51.71 so a lot of people have saw that, 00:10:51.75\00:10:53.58 you know, if I eat greens of any source, 00:10:53.62\00:10:55.75 it improves all of these different things, 00:10:55.78\00:10:57.52 I can lower my blood pressure, 00:10:57.55\00:10:59.15 make all the arteries bigger, 00:10:59.19\00:11:00.52 and all the arteries get bigger everywhere, 00:11:00.56\00:11:02.36 guess what happens? 00:11:02.39\00:11:03.73 The body gets more oxygen, better energy utilization, 00:11:03.76\00:11:07.23 less aging through the antioxidants, 00:11:07.26\00:11:09.43 so these studies have shown that 00:11:09.46\00:11:10.87 when we incorporate greens into our diets, 00:11:10.90\00:11:13.07 now when can we treat things 00:11:13.10\00:11:14.44 like high blood pressure, angina, help inflammation, 00:11:14.47\00:11:18.04 help speed up our bowels, change our bowel flora, 00:11:18.07\00:11:21.38 but not only we do that, 00:11:21.41\00:11:22.94 but we also can maybe 00:11:22.98\00:11:24.31 not eat as much of the bad stuff 00:11:24.35\00:11:26.28 which can damage our bodies. 00:11:26.31\00:11:28.65 You know, kale is not necessarily 00:11:28.68\00:11:30.02 my favorite green, 00:11:30.05\00:11:31.39 but when we do have it, 00:11:31.42\00:11:32.75 we like to put it in smoothies sometimes. 00:11:32.79\00:11:34.12 How do you like to have greens in your diet? 00:11:34.16\00:11:35.79 Yeah, well... 00:11:35.82\00:11:37.23 Listen, I will just pick this up 00:11:37.26\00:11:38.96 and I would just eat it now. 00:11:38.99\00:11:40.33 I just eat like it raw.
