00:01 Sabbath rest, how important it is to our health,
00:04 how vital it is to our well-being. 00:06 On that seventh day of creation, 00:09 God told us beyond the shadow of a doubt, 00:11 that He has one more thing to share, 00:14 we need to rest and that we need to worship. 00:17 And then He says you know what, 00:18 it's good everything you need to be healthy is in place. 00:23 And we can enjoy the benefits of each one of those health laws 00:26 in our own lives on a regular basis, 00:28 on a weekly basis, the fresh air, the sunshine, 00:32 the water, the exercise, the loving care of the animals, 00:36 loving each other, and then spending time with God. 00:40 And allowing the light of His love to shine 00:43 in the dark places of our lives. 00:45 What an amazing week that would have been. 00:47 Yeah, it was and I think you summarized it up very well. 00:51 And I want to encourage people, you know, 00:53 I've written a new book called 00:54 "The Ultimate Prescription." 00:56 And if you go to our website heartwiseministries.org, 01:00 it really sums up a lot of we've been 01:02 talking about today. Yes, it is. 01:04 We're hoping that this book will sweep the country 01:06 and become an evangelistic tool 01:09 where we can bring people into that saving relationship 01:12 as well as giving them a new way to think about medicine. 01:15 Yeah, Evangelistic tool, 01:16 interesting that you said that. Yeah. 01:18 We're talking about the end time coming up here 01:21 on this world. We don't have a lot of time left. 01:24 Is that what we should be talking about, 01:25 health with people? 01:26 Well, you know, anything that will bring them 01:28 into that saving relationship. Yes. 01:31 Anything and I think that health, 01:33 many people are interested in the health, 01:34 how they feel, they want to feel well. 01:37 And Charles, you know, I've a lot of gadgets 01:39 that I could spend a lot of time looking into your eyes. 01:42 You know, Charles, I can look into your ears. Yes. 01:44 You know, should I look in your ears? 01:46 Should I look into your ears right now? 01:47 I don't know what you'll find. I'm afraid. 01:48 No, no, but the point is that rather than doing all this, 01:52 there's also things that are even more important, 01:54 teaching people about the chemical changes 01:56 that come from a Sabbath day rest and worship. 01:59 Teaching them about the doctors don't necessarily 02:02 fix things, we treat symptoms. Yeah. 02:04 But only God, the great physician, 02:06 we have to look to Him for the real answers. 02:08 And people send us some questions 02:10 to our heartwiseministries.org site. 02:13 I want to get to those-- Let's do that. 02:15 So we can start answering people's questions 02:17 and helping serving them. 02:18 'Cause you know what, when we-- 02:20 this is great, Charles, when we serve them, 02:22 guess what, I give-- we can give love to them. 02:25 I improve my own chemistry 02:27 when I love them. Isn't that great? 02:29 A life of service, a life of love is actually 02:31 good for two people. Yeah. 02:32 The people who are receiving it 02:33 and the people who are giving it. 02:35 So when having to take a pain medicine for my back, 02:37 I just serve people some more and I start to feel better. 02:40 Another thing that we haven't talked about, 02:41 we're gonna have to throw the sin 02:43 somewhere is the importance of laughing. 02:45 Can you imagine God giving a big belly laugh? Absolutely. 02:48 I can imagine God giving a big belly-- 02:49 He made the hardwork, there you go. 02:51 Yeah, you know, when we laugh 02:53 that helps our chemistry so much. Yeah. 02:55 And--before we're done, I might tell a joke 02:57 or something to get you have a belly laugh, Charles, 03:00 and improve your endorphins. 03:01 I look forward to the belly laugh 03:03 with the endorphin improvement. 03:04 But now I'm gonna improve mine by helping 03:06 serve some of these people that have come to our website. 03:08 Okay, here's a question here from heartwiseministries.org. 03:11 "My blood pressure is constantly elevated." 03:13 Says Sarah in Illinois. 03:15 "What are the dangers of blood pressure going up?" 03:19 Okay, blood pressure is that pressure that's on 03:21 the inside lining of the blood vessels as the heart pumps. 03:25 The top number we call systole. 03:27 The bottom number we call diastole. 03:30 And in general, we like to keep that 03:32 top number below 140, the bottom number 03:35 when the heart's relaxing below 90. 03:37 What does happen if its-- you know happens 03:39 over and over and over, over long periods of time. 03:42 Well, we can damage the inside lining 03:43 of the blood vessels that's called the Endothelium. 03:46 We can get aneurysms or weak parts of the heart 03:50 and other blood vessels. 03:51 It increases the risk of stroke. 03:53 It increases the risk of kidney disease. 03:55 It increases the risk of lots of problems. 03:58 The blood pressure shouldn't be that high. 04:00 Now the question is, it is constantly elevated. 04:03 Now blood pressure can go up 04:05 under a scary situation. Yeah. 04:06 Like if I come and hit you or we start doing 04:09 some things back and forth, your blood pressure will go up 04:12 but usually it will come back down. 04:14 Lots of people go to the doctor, Charles, 04:16 and they get their blood pressure taken 04:18 and they found that it's high in the doctor's office. 04:20 Well, I don't want to give them 04:21 a medicine till we prove it's high. 04:23 Sometimes we call that 04:24 "White coat hypertension." Just being there. 04:26 Right, so we want to make sure a person 04:28 has a diagnosis of high blood pressure 04:30 before we treat him. Yeah. 04:31 Also in blood pressure, I want to know 04:33 what causes blood pressure. 04:34 You know pain can cause blood pressure problems, 04:37 kidney problems, sleep apnea 04:39 that we've talked about, kidney disease, 04:41 certain rare tumors can cause it. 04:43 One called a pheochromocytoma can cause it. 04:47 But we're gonna make sure people don't have that 04:49 'cause if we can get at that, we can fix the problem. 04:51 Extra weight can cause high blood pressure. 04:54 So we want to get at the cause 04:56 rather than treat a symptom. Yes. 04:57 So she asked what are the dangers. 04:59 Well, the dangers is heart attack, stroke, 05:02 aneurysms, damage the kidneys. This is serious stuff. 05:05 And what we want her to do, first make sure she has it. 05:07 And it's consistently albeit she has it. 05:08 she needs to see her doctor and the first place, 05:11 I would ask him--is Sarah, I would ask, you know, 05:14 ask your doctor, what do you think 05:15 is causing my blood pressure? 05:17 Sometimes they can't find it and sometimes, 05:18 this is a place where modern medicine is useful. 05:21 Sometimes you can bring your chemistry down 05:23 with lifestyle changes as well. Okay. 05:26 So now where does this all fit in with rest, okay. 05:29 Well, we know that one of the lifestyle changes, 05:32 stress raises the blood pressure. Yes. 05:34 Just by having a day of rest might bring down 05:37 the blood pressure, getting off 05:38 some of the stresses of the work. 05:39 During that day of rest, 05:40 you might have time to exercise, 05:42 which might bring your blood pressure down. 05:44 You might have time to go to the store 05:45 and make better food choices which might 05:47 help bring your blood pressure down. 05:49 So there's a lot of other things you might do 05:51 during that day of rest 05:52 that will also bring your blood pressure. 05:53 So a day of rest can also help 05:55 bring your blood pressure down. 05:56 And on that Sabbath day of rest. Yes. 05:58 If we chose to have that day of rest on our Sabbath, 06:01 you know, like you've said before 06:02 sometimes pastors can't do that. Right. 06:04 Sabbath is not their day of rest. 06:06 They have to have another day of rest. 06:07 But on this Sabbath day of rest, 06:10 what have you discovered in dealing with people 06:12 that actually is the most benefit to them, 06:15 something they can do that day, walk in the woods, 06:19 spend time with their family, what works? 06:21 It's very individual, Charles. 06:24 You know what works for me is being outdoors in nature 06:26 and having some special uninterrupted time 06:29 where I can talk to God and God can talk to me. 06:32 You know prayer is so valuable. 06:34 You know and we underestimate, 06:36 prayers are chance for us to be 06:37 in the presence of God in that relationship. 06:40 What a privilege just to have time 06:42 to pray and to pray. Yeah. 06:43 We might have some extra time to read 06:45 and becoming the word, what another privilege. 06:47 Some people don't have the ability to look at Bibles 06:49 and learn from God from the Bible. 06:51 We might have the opportunity to be outside 06:53 or be with family and enjoy them. 06:55 Remember it's--we might serve on our Sabbath day. 06:59 We might choose to do that. 07:00 If we don't have a chance to do that, we can-- 07:01 I've been to churches where they do that. 07:03 They go out in the community and they do things. 07:04 Yeah, we can do things. 07:05 Well, there's lots of different things 07:07 that God will lead us and how we should rest 07:10 based on our relationship with them. 07:12 And it might be different just like 07:14 how we eat food is different. Yes. 07:15 But as God brings us so long in that relationship, 07:18 the way we rest on the Sabbath might change dramatically. 07:21 So that's it, there's many different ways to do this, 07:23 but rest won't hurt your blood pressure. That's right. 07:26 Surely should--it should bring it down at least a little bit. 07:28 You make an interesting point there that 07:30 Sabbath is a very individual thing that we do 07:34 what we need to do, to enjoy the benefits 07:36 that God has in store for us on that day. 07:40 There are many options for us. 07:42 So don't think that you have to, you know, 07:45 tie yourself into one particular 07:46 type of observing the Sabbath day. 07:49 God wants to use it for healing. 07:51 God wants you to have a lower blood pressure. Right. 07:55 God wants to have you enjoy a relationship with Him. 07:59 So whatever it takes on that day, 08:01 whatever it works for you, that's what He wants you to do. 08:02 You know I would've loved to be an animal in the garden 08:05 and just watch the original plan 08:07 and see what God really had in store. 08:09 You know, and we could even increase 08:12 what we tell people. 08:13 But it's important, I think in the society 08:15 that we have where everyone's on the go all the time 08:18 that will we at least think about this day of rest 08:21 and try to incorporate it to our lives 08:23 and make it a treatment, part of the treatment plan. 08:26 Absolutely, okay. 08:27 Question here from Heartwise Ministries, 08:29 "How long does it take to heal after bypass surgery?" 08:33 This is Phillip in Mississippi. 08:35 Yeah, it usually takes 4 hours 3 minutes and 2 seconds. 08:40 See I got you to laugh. 08:41 Yes, you did. Got you the endorphins. I feel better. 08:45 Good, I'm glad you feel better. 08:47 That healing varies from individuals 08:49 based on their healing dynamics, 08:51 based on genetics, where they have 08:53 concomitant medical conditions like diabetes. 08:57 But after a bypass, I tell people, 08:59 you know, if it hurts you probably shouldn't do it. 09:02 That's common sense. Okay, all right. 09:03 You know if you are hurting something 09:04 and continue to hurt like back pain. Yeah. 09:06 If you don't quit moving it, 09:08 chances are it won't get better. 09:09 So that varies from individual 09:11 but when it usually stops hurting 09:13 that's a chance that it's getting better. Yeah. 09:15 On a bypass surgery, the first month is the worse, 09:18 but it can take up to six months 09:20 to get all those aches and pains gone. Yeah. 09:22 They cut through the nerves. 09:24 We cut through the sternum. 09:25 Open all that up. 09:26 And some people get back to work too soon 09:29 and when they work too soon, 09:30 they again aggravate it which brings us back 09:33 to this concept of rest again. 09:35 We have to rest to allow the body to heal. 09:38 We have to rest to allow the mind to heal. 09:42 We have to rest to have that mind be strong enough 09:44 so we can understand what truth is. 09:47 When we're busy all the time, 09:49 it's hard to make sense of the world 09:51 'cause we're so busy rushing from one, 09:52 we can't heal even he body or the mind. 09:55 This rest is important to give the body time to catch up 09:59 with all the worldly things that go on. 10:01 The mind to heal? What do you mean by that? 10:04 The mind to heal, do we have a lesion in there? 10:07 What is wrong with our mind that requires the healing? 10:10 Well, think about it, Charles, 10:11 you know, all this disease 10:13 and the stress comes from somewhere. Yeah. 10:16 It's originating somewhere. 10:17 A lot of it's originating in the brain. 10:20 And God wants our brains to be healthy too. 10:22 We sometimes don't have a blood test 10:24 to measure exactly how our brain is? Right. 10:26 But we now know that certain things damage the brain. 10:29 We talked earlier about 10:30 how worship strengthens the brain. 10:32 So you can make this argument that things 10:34 that--when we don't do things 10:35 that bring us closer to God 10:37 that He designed at the original, 10:39 all those things are hurting our brain. 10:41 For instance, we don't drink water, 10:43 we don't eat well, we don't exercise well, 10:45 we don't love well, we don't worship well. 10:47 All that damages our brain 10:49 and makes the bad part of the brain, 10:50 the stress part of the brain start to take over. 10:53 You talked about hydration there, 10:54 water get to the brain, 10:55 you talked about occulation, oxygen getting to the brain, 10:57 so we're actually physically affecting our brain 11:01 when we're not taking good care of it? 11:02 And that's how we communicate with God. 11:04 So when we don't rest appropriately, 11:06 our brains can't heal appropriately. 11:08 It can't communicate with God appropriately. 11:10 And a terrible cascade occurs. 11:13 And in this world, just think 11:14 are we taking care of our brain? 11:16 Who is in-charge of our brain? Our mind. 11:18 Is it, you know, I've read a statistic now 11:19 that shows some children are watching television 11:22 six to seven hours a day. 11:23 We know that directly hurts the part of the brain 11:27 that we want to develop. 11:28 We also know that other things hurt the brain. 11:30 Certain foods hurt the brains. 11:32 So lots of things are hurting our brain. 11:34 And it only makes sense that if we don't follow 11:36 anything that doesn't follow God's original health plan 11:38 can damage the brain. 11:40 So if we don't rest and we don't worship, 11:42 I can make the argument that, 11:43 that is damaging your brain. Absolutely. 11:45 'Cause that's the way we were originally designed to be. 11:48 And as I've said many times and as Dr. Marcum has said 11:52 many times in this program, healing is required. 11:57 Healing is essential and the way we heal is to go back 12:02 to this wonderful, wonderful week of creation. 12:06 And we find the laws. 12:07 We find the tools that God has made available to us 12:11 to bring that healing to us. 12:14 Modern medicine can keep us alive 12:16 long enough so we can go back to Eden 12:19 and find out what God had in mind. 12:21 So there's a place for modern medicine. 12:23 But God is saying to us and I've enjoyed the study 12:26 we've had here of the seven days of creation. 12:29 God is saying to us, here's what you need. 12:32 Here's what I made available. 12:33 Here's what you can use to enjoy optimum health. 12:39 The ultimate prescription is going back to the way 12:43 God intended for us to live 12:45 and enjoying the benefits of doing it. 12:47 We'll have prayer with you 12:49 in just a minute, so stay tuned. 12:57 Are you taking the time that you need to rest? 13:00 Not only a day to rest but a weekly rest? 13:04 I think that you'll agree 13:05 that it's very important for chemistry. 13:08 Are these truths touching your heart in some way, 13:11 shape, or form? Many of you have needs of healing. 13:15 And we've gotten those calls into our website. 13:18 And believe me, we read each one of them. 13:20 And we want to pray for healing 13:22 in your life right now. 13:23 We also want to pray for healing, 13:26 the power of that relationship to help us 13:28 implement these things we've been learning about, 13:31 to get back to this creation plan for our health 13:34 and to incorporate this with modern medicine 13:36 and the lifestyle changes we might be making. 13:39 Let's bow our heads right now. 13:43 Father God, we ask for Your Holy Spirit 13:47 to inhabit us right now. 13:50 Through this power, we hope and we trust 13:54 that You will change us into the way You designed 13:57 us at the very beginning. 13:59 Help those of us to need to rest 14:00 more to start doing this, Father. 14:02 And there might be someone out there 14:04 that hasn't entered into a relationship with You. 14:07 But we want them to come to You as a great heal, 14:10 Father, 'cause we know that ultimate healing 14:12 will come from this relationship. 14:15 Those out there that need healing, 14:16 Father, we pray especially for them, 14:18 those who've written into the website, 14:20 those that have called us. 14:21 We pray for special healing and anointing on them. 14:24 This is our humble prayer, amen. 14:29 Prayer is a valuable tool for healing. 14:33 I can't tell you how many times 14:36 I've gone to pray and see miracles happen. 14:38 We must continue to pray. 14:40 Thank you for joining us today 14:42 on the "Ultimate Prescription." 14:43 May God be with you always. Thank you. |
