Yeah. 00:01:38.73\00:01:41.39 We used to say listen, you rest, don't do anything. 00:01:41.40\00:01:43.75 Let the body rest, let it heal. 00:01:43.76\00:01:46.55 If you had a race horse, Charles, okay? 00:01:46.56\00:01:49.08 And you race that horse, race after race after race, 00:01:49.09\00:01:51.76 you would sooner or later let that horse 00:01:51.77\00:01:53.79 rest or you'll wear it out. Yes. 00:02:05.15\00:02:07.27 When we don't rest, when we violate this law, 00:02:07.28\00:02:09.98 even the Lord of the universe 00:02:09.99\00:02:11.30 who didn't have any health problems, 00:02:11.31\00:02:12.99 He knew that He designed us to rest. Yeah. 00:02:13.00\00:02:15.37 Work six days, have a rest cycle. 00:02:15.38\00:02:18.28 The research is just now understanding 00:02:18.29\00:02:20.25 a little bit more about this six day, 00:02:20.26\00:02:22.20 you know, work cycle then rest one day. 00:02:22.21\00:02:25.39 But God knows a lot about it. 00:02:25.40\00:02:26.93 I can't wait to talk to Him about how this cycle 00:02:26.94\00:02:29.81 was meant to be because we know it's true. 00:02:29.82\00:02:32.41 We have to believe that if God did it, 00:02:32.42\00:02:35.24 there was a reason why he did it. Right. 00:02:35.25\00:02:37.03 Six days on, one day off. 00:02:37.04\00:02:39.91 We may not understand it now 00:02:39.92\00:02:41.17 but it's got to be a reason for being that way. 00:02:41.18\00:02:44.69 Absolutely and if I had the money to fund a study, 00:02:44.70\00:02:47.73 what I would do is I would take 00:02:47.74\00:02:49.18 may be 10,000 or 15,000 people 00:02:49.19\00:02:51.69 and I would match them up, perfect matches. 00:02:51.70\00:02:54.78 And I would have one that worked seven days a week 00:02:54.79\00:02:57.00 that worked hard all the time, busy 24x7, 00:02:57.01\00:03:00.91 that watched TV, that stayed up late at night, 00:03:00.92\00:03:03.23 that never rested, that kept go, go, go. Yeah. 00:03:03.24\00:03:05.61 Got to work hard. Got to achieve 00:03:05.62\00:03:07.32 the almighty dollar. Got to stay busy. Yeah. 00:03:07.33\00:03:09.74 And then I take another group 00:03:09.75\00:03:11.57 that specifically rested one day a week. 00:03:11.58\00:03:14.85 Within that group, I would like to have a group 00:03:14.86\00:03:17.21 that would not only rest one day, 00:03:17.22\00:03:19.23 but would rest and have another group 00:03:19.24\00:03:20.88 within that group rest and worship. 00:03:20.89\00:03:22.84 Oh, my, okay. And I'll teach them 00:03:22.85\00:03:24.19 different ways of worship. And then I would like 00:03:24.20\00:03:25.73 to study a lot of different parameters. 00:03:25.74\00:03:28.20 Blood, pressure, heart rate, 00:03:28.21\00:03:29.67 inflammation and disease rates, 00:03:29.68\00:03:31.82 all these inflammatory stress 00:03:31.83\00:03:33.85 related problems that we have. 00:03:33.86\00:03:35.57 And I would like to study those different groups 00:03:35.58\00:03:37.71 and see who had the best chemistry 00:03:37.72\00:03:39.41 at the end of the period. 00:03:39.42\00:03:41.16 I think, based on everything I know, 00:03:41.17\00:03:44.09 I know what the results would be. 00:03:44.10\00:03:45.49 Yes, you would. It's inherently logical. 00:03:45.50\00:03:47.87 And I think that study will be done someday 00:03:47.88\00:03:50.36 and we'll be able to prescribe a weekly rest 00:03:50.37\00:03:52.79 for people as well as some of these other things 00:03:52.80\00:03:54.79 that we prescribe. Just like we give the people 00:03:54.80\00:03:56.86 who have a heart-attack a beta blocker, 00:03:56.87\00:03:58.74 I would like to give them a prescription 00:03:58.75\00:04:00.34 for a day of rest and add worship to that. 00:04:00.35\00:04:03.17 So there is something remarkable 00:04:03.18\00:04:04.96 about resting does. 00:04:04.97\00:04:06.10 It gives our body a chance to catch up a chance to heal. 00:04:06.11\00:04:09.54 But not only our bodies, Charles, 00:04:09.55\00:04:11.47 our control centers have a chance to rest. 00:04:11.48\00:04:14.48 Our brains need rest time to rejuvenate the neurons, 00:04:14.49\00:04:18.25 the neural pathways, we need downtime. 00:04:18.26\00:04:21.28 You know, you can't think all the time. 00:04:21.29\00:04:23.41 You know, and we have some literature behind this. 00:04:23.42\00:04:25.58 We know that people that are studying for test, 00:04:25.59\00:04:27.84 the people that learn slowly 00:04:27.85\00:04:29.55 and have rest times assimilate 00:04:29.56\00:04:31.33 that better than people that just study all the time. 00:04:31.34\00:04:34.08 They cram for tests that-- so we also know 00:04:34.09\00:04:36.54 that this rest is important for our brain 00:04:36.55\00:04:38.85 and that brain is our control center 00:04:38.86\00:04:40.71 of the whole body. Yeah. 00:04:40.72\00:04:41.95 So that rest is also important 00:04:41.96\00:04:43.90 for our brain function, which controls everything. 00:04:43.91\00:04:46.83 So we are not only talking about resting our muscles, 00:04:46.84\00:04:49.41 we are also talking 00:04:49.42\00:04:50.42 about resting our brain up here. 00:04:50.43\00:04:53.38 You said something significant 00:04:53.39\00:04:54.81 there that there is a rest, 00:04:54.82\00:04:57.91 a Sabbath rest and the Bible makes it very clear 00:04:57.92\00:05:00.23 that God created a rest day. Absolutely. 00:05:00.24\00:05:02.86 Bible says that God rested on that day. 00:05:02.87\00:05:06.09 But then we have to say, "Well, how did He do that?" 00:05:06.10\00:05:08.27 What did Adam and Eve do on that rest day? 00:05:08.28\00:05:11.75 Yes, they rested but there was something else 00:05:11.76\00:05:15.04 significant that happened on that day 00:05:15.05\00:05:16.78 that I think that we can replicate 00:05:16.79\00:05:18.56 in our own lives and we should replicate 00:05:18.57\00:05:20.49 if we want to make sure 00:05:20.50\00:05:21.55 we have that full benefit of the rest. 00:05:21.56\00:05:24.63 And as they rested, but they also spent 00:05:24.64\00:05:27.99 some time with God-- Yes. 00:05:28.00\00:05:30.19 Is that really important part of this? 00:05:30.20\00:05:31.82 Well, you know, it must be because God 00:05:31.83\00:05:34.42 set it up at the beginning. Yes. 00:05:34.43\00:05:36.10 And who are we to question that? 00:05:36.11\00:05:37.25 We have got to start believing in our own hearts 00:05:37.26\00:05:39.88 and when God does something, 00:05:39.89\00:05:41.19 there is a reason for it 00:05:41.20\00:05:42.28 and that reason is good for us. 00:05:42.29\00:05:43.77 Even though we can't always explain it scientifically. 00:05:43.78\00:05:46.38 Yeah. Now let's think about the other thing, 00:05:46.39\00:05:48.15 He said not to work. 00:05:48.16\00:05:49.66 You know, that's a good thing 00:05:49.67\00:05:50.71 but during that day, they spent a special time 00:05:50.72\00:05:54.14 where they had together, 00:05:54.15\00:05:55.21 where they worshiped and praised. 00:05:55.22\00:05:56.86 They developed this friendship even more. 00:05:56.87\00:05:59.32 They had special time to share with each other 00:05:59.33\00:06:01.42 and to learn each other. 00:06:01.43\00:06:02.53 And during this time, I'm sure Adam and Eve 00:06:02.54\00:06:04.56 learned about these principles 00:06:04.57\00:06:06.03 that God set up the universe. 00:06:06.04\00:06:07.35 They learned about love. 00:06:07.36\00:06:08.77 They developed love between the two. 00:06:08.78\00:06:10.92 And as that love developed, the chemistry got better. 00:06:10.93\00:06:13.59 They helped understand this. 00:06:13.60\00:06:15.11 But at the same time, they always had that choice 00:06:15.12\00:06:17.57 to love or not to love. 00:06:17.58\00:06:19.17 And I think that was important part 00:06:19.18\00:06:21.03 about this rest. And this was set up 00:06:21.04\00:06:23.15 at the beginning of time on earth. Yes. 00:06:23.16\00:06:25.13 And God knew this was important, 00:06:25.14\00:06:27.48 very important. Not only for our brains, 00:06:27.49\00:06:29.59 for our spiritual life, for our relationship 00:06:29.60\00:06:32.19 with the ultimate physician as well as the ways 00:06:32.20\00:06:34.57 to keep us healthy. 00:06:34.58\00:06:35.69 Now likewise now here we go again. 00:06:35.70\00:06:38.19 You've heard this before on previous shows, 00:06:38.20\00:06:40.26 when we do what God says, 00:06:40.27\00:06:41.76 our chemistry gets better. Yes. 00:06:41.77\00:06:43.34 It improves because that was God's way. 00:06:43.35\00:06:45.95 But if we don't do what God says, 00:06:45.96\00:06:48.00 if we don't rest, if we don't take that time 00:06:48.01\00:06:50.59 to be with Him, if we don't take 00:06:50.60\00:06:51.88 that special love relationship time inherently, 00:06:51.89\00:06:54.80 our chemistry gets worse. Yeah. 00:06:54.81\00:06:56.62 And if I was the evil one, 00:06:56.63\00:06:58.02 I would want to take us away from rest. 00:06:58.03\00:07:00.05 I would want us to worship everything else. 00:07:00.06\00:07:02.74 I would want us to worship football games, 00:07:02.75\00:07:05.13 and fancy houses, and jobs, and internet. 00:07:05.14\00:07:07.51 Worship everything else but the true God 00:07:07.52\00:07:09.91 and as I got away from truth, 00:07:09.92\00:07:12.19 I would damage their chemistry 00:07:12.20\00:07:13.58 so their brains wouldn't work right. 00:07:13.59\00:07:15.45 So they won't even be able to think correctly. 00:07:15.46\00:07:17.37 That reminds me of a study on--there is a doctor 00:07:17.38\00:07:21.24 at the University of Pennsylvania 00:07:21.25\00:07:22.60 that's doing studies on brains. 00:07:22.61\00:07:24.93 And what he does, Charles, 00:07:24.94\00:07:26.05 is he takes MRIs and looks at brains, 00:07:26.06\00:07:28.30 the metabolic activity that's what MRIs do. 00:07:28.31\00:07:31.67 And he has took some people 00:07:31.68\00:07:32.96 and he had them worship 00:07:32.97\00:07:34.45 for a short period of time everyday 00:07:34.46\00:07:36.65 and then he scanned their brains 00:07:36.66\00:07:37.99 with this MRIs both before and after worship 00:07:38.00\00:07:41.21 at the University of Pennsylvania. 00:07:41.22\00:07:42.27 This is scientific study. Yeah. 00:07:42.28\00:07:44.05 After a short period of worship time, 00:07:44.06\00:07:46.08 he demonstrated that the front part of the brain, 00:07:46.09\00:07:48.66 the part that communicates with God, 00:07:48.67\00:07:50.95 the thinking part started to grow. 00:07:50.96\00:07:53.69 So that part-- Physically grow? 00:07:53.70\00:07:55.19 Yes, it started to grow. Wow. 00:07:55.20\00:07:56.36 Become more developed. 00:07:56.37\00:07:57.90 So he is proving that worship, 00:07:57.91\00:08:01.45 just like God said, 00:08:01.46\00:08:02.85 is developing the front part of our brain, 00:08:02.86\00:08:04.51 the good part of our brain 00:08:04.52\00:08:05.51 where we communicate with God. 00:08:05.52\00:08:07.29 So worship is a treatment 00:08:07.30\00:08:08.85 for the development of our brain. 00:08:08.86\00:08:10.39 Conversely, when we don't worship, 00:08:10.40\00:08:12.50 when we don't rest, 00:08:12.51\00:08:14.04 it stresses our bodies including our brain, 00:08:14.05\00:08:17.12 the stress part of our brain, 00:08:17.13\00:08:18.44 the limbic system and all those fancy parts 00:08:18.45\00:08:20.78 become overly developed. 00:08:20.79\00:08:22.09 We can't make rational decisions. 00:08:22.10\00:08:24.25 We think on that part of our brain 00:08:24.26\00:08:26.29 and the front part of our brain 00:08:26.30\00:08:27.47 become smaller and less useful. 00:08:27.48\00:08:29.58 We know--we see this in literature. 00:08:29.59\00:08:31.26 We see people that take drugs 00:08:31.27\00:08:32.60 and a lot of other stressors, 00:08:32.61\00:08:34.53 the part of the brain that does the thinking gets-- 00:08:34.54\00:08:36.91 looks like cheddar cheese sometimes. Yes. 00:08:36.92\00:08:39.15 So this is some strong data that what God said 00:08:39.16\00:08:42.90 at the very beginning when we take a day of rest, 00:08:42.91\00:08:45.20 when we develop this worship with Him on that day of rest, 00:08:45.21\00:08:48.31 we have some important chemical implications 00:08:48.32\00:08:50.86 as well as love implications. 00:08:50.87\00:08:52.90 So, Dr. Marcum, could we safely say 00:08:52.91\00:08:55.44 that if we are struggling 00:08:55.45\00:08:58.47 with our relationship with God, 00:08:58.48\00:09:00.06 if we are saying, "I can't seem 00:09:00.07\00:09:03.07 to connect with Him, I can't seem to get through 00:09:03.08\00:09:06.28 and I can't seem to find Him in my life." 00:09:06.29\00:09:10.50 Is it possible that the reason 00:09:10.51\00:09:13.01 is that we are not developing that part of our brain 00:09:13.02\00:09:17.13 where God communicates with us? 00:09:17.14\00:09:18.87 And that the answer for that is to develop 00:09:18.88\00:09:21.14 that part of our brain. 00:09:21.15\00:09:22.33 Don't wait for God just to simply come 00:09:22.34\00:09:24.43 busting in and make changes. 00:09:24.44\00:09:26.76 We need to create a change in our brain patterns 00:09:26.77\00:09:30.35 where God can actually be part 00:09:30.36\00:09:32.77 of our lives and communicate with us. 00:09:32.78\00:09:34.64 Charles, I'm proud of you, you know? 00:09:34.65\00:09:36.87 You're getting this good. 00:09:36.88\00:09:37.96 Sometimes you don't get my name right, 00:09:37.97\00:09:40.06 but you're definitely getting this right, Charles. 00:09:40.07\00:09:42.71 You've got this and I'm so proud 00:09:42.72\00:09:44.67 and I'm hoping our listeners 00:09:44.68\00:09:47.20 and viewers get this as well. Yes. 00:10:03.70\00:10:05.08 Maybe the things that we used to do no longer 00:10:05.09\00:10:07.13 is fun for us to do. 00:10:07.14\00:10:08.63 And we can only do that power through the Holy Spirit. 00:10:08.64\00:10:10.59 And that's why we want to talk 00:10:10.60\00:10:12.25 about this as treatment in this healing plan. 00:10:12.26\00:10:15.47 And sometimes I feel like we don't talk about, 00:10:15.48\00:10:17.48 we talk about all the fancy stuff, 00:10:17.49\00:10:19.08 the treatments for cancer, 00:10:19.09\00:10:20.83 we talk about the blood pressure medicines, 00:10:20.84\00:10:22.81 the blood thinners. 00:10:22.82\00:10:23.83 We talk about how important it is to exercise 00:10:23.84\00:10:26.25 and eat all the right foods. 00:10:26.26\00:10:27.61 Sometimes we do that at the expense 00:10:27.62\00:10:29.38 of everything else. Yes. 00:10:29.39\00:10:30.51 But when we talk about this relationship, 00:10:30.52\00:10:32.38 the way that we get the power 00:10:32.39\00:10:33.87 to do things for the right reasons, 00:10:33.88\00:10:35.92 to change our brain, to grow our brain, 00:10:35.93\00:10:38.51 to be a part our brain, to change us, 00:10:38.52\00:10:41.14 to be in us. That is the key. 00:10:41.15\00:10:44.55 That is the key to changing our chemistry. 00:10:44.56\00:10:46.68 We do it for the right reasons. 00:10:46.69\00:10:48.07 So that's why this day of rest, 00:10:48.08\00:10:49.63 this worship is so important. 00:10:49.64\00:10:51.57 And now we're proving it scientifically. 00:10:51.58\00:10:53.31 This isn't a bunch of theories 00:10:53.32\00:10:54.53 that are just thrown out. 00:10:54.54\00:10:55.61 This is something you can take to the bank, 00:10:55.62\00:10:57.43 it's true, you can believe it. Yeah. 00:10:57.44\00:10:59.53 And that's why I'm trying to corporate 00:10:59.54\00:11:01.51 into a treatment plan this idea of rest 00:11:01.52\00:11:04.83 and this idea of worship. 00:11:04.84\00:11:06.12 And people worship in many different ways. 00:11:06.13\00:11:08.45 You know some people worship in church. 00:11:08.46\00:11:09.90 Some people worship in prayer. 00:11:09.91\00:11:11.89 Some people worship out in nature. 00:11:11.90\00:11:14.80 You know the original church was a garden. Yes. 00:11:14.81\00:11:17.84 And I think I do my best communing with God 00:11:17.85\00:11:19.78 when I'm out in nature. 00:11:19.79\00:11:21.12 I had one fellow, he says he worships 00:11:21.13\00:11:23.41 in a fishing boat, you know? In a fishing boat? 00:11:23.42\00:11:25.62 He worships in a fishing boat. Okay, all right. 00:11:25.63\00:11:27.13 But, you know, the point is we connect with God, 00:11:27.14\00:11:29.78 IHe connects with us in that relationship. 00:11:29.79\00:11:32.15 And that's the important thing 00:11:32.16\00:11:33.27 and that's what we're trying to get through. 00:11:33.28\00:11:34.89 And I think God was telling us 00:11:34.90\00:11:36.20 it's important for our physical, 00:11:36.21\00:11:38.02 mental and spiritual health to follow this law 00:11:38.03\00:11:40.57 that He created the universe to be run on. 00:11:40.58\00:11:43.58 You know Dr. Marcum, one of the most amazing things 00:11:43.59\00:11:46.24 in my mind is a scene that I like to go to often. 00:11:46.25\00:11:50.14 And that is that scene 00:11:50.15\00:11:52.07 on the seventh day of creation, 00:11:52.08\00:11:54.15 when Adam and Eve 00:11:54.16\00:11:55.41 were walking through the garden 00:11:55.42\00:11:57.20 and the Lord joined them. 00:11:57.21\00:11:58.88 And they were enjoying the beauty, 00:11:58.89\00:12:00.59 and they were seeing the birds, 00:12:00.60\00:12:01.99 and they were hearing the tinkle of the water, 00:12:02.00\00:12:04.45 and the stream, and the fish and everything was there. 00:12:04.46\00:12:08.42 On that seventh day of creation, 00:12:08.43\00:12:09.86 at that moment, everything they 00:12:09.87\00:12:11.57 needed to be healthy existed. It was right there. 00:12:11.58\00:12:14.49 Nothing was missing. 00:12:14.50\00:12:16.14 God's health plan was in place 00:12:16.15\00:12:19.12 and complete at that moment. 00:12:19.13\00:12:22.68 The further we get away from that moment, 00:12:22.69\00:12:25.57 from that health plan, the sick we become. 00:12:25.58\00:12:29.55 The closer we get back to that moment, 00:12:29.56\00:12:32.10 into that health plan, health returns to us.
