Welcome back to the program. 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.70 We've been covering pain in the series 00:00:02.73\00:00:04.10 on the Ultimate Prescription. 00:00:04.13\00:00:05.47 And today's topic we're talking about oral pain, 00:00:05.50\00:00:07.64 and that's pain in the mouth, 00:00:07.67\00:00:09.00 sometimes your teeth and the nerves, 00:00:09.04\00:00:10.71 or your tongue, everything's in the mouth. 00:00:10.74\00:00:12.41 And we've got a bunch of questions 00:00:12.44\00:00:13.78 that have come in from our website. 00:00:13.81\00:00:15.14 And we want you to visit, 00:00:15.18\00:00:16.51 if you have a question visit HeartwiseMinistries.org. 00:00:16.54\00:00:19.08 And there's a lot of good health resources there, 00:00:19.11\00:00:21.35 you can also request prayer for your health issues, 00:00:21.38\00:00:23.59 and you can also ask the doctor for personal health advice, 00:00:23.62\00:00:27.22 and, Dr Markham, 00:00:27.26\00:00:28.59 welcome back to the program. 00:00:28.62\00:00:29.96 Well, it's nice to talk about pain, 00:00:29.99\00:00:31.33 and you've got some little ones at the home 00:00:31.36\00:00:33.29 that's going to be having oral pain soon, too. 00:00:33.33\00:00:34.66 Yeah. 00:00:34.70\00:00:36.03 In fact just recently, just last week my son Hayden, 00:00:36.06\00:00:38.37 he's 18 almost 19 months old now. 00:00:38.40\00:00:41.17 He's been teething again and, you know, 00:00:41.20\00:00:43.30 just kind of fussy and cranky and... 00:00:43.34\00:00:45.04 So I remember what I used to do with my kids, 00:00:45.07\00:00:47.48 what do you do with your kid what's the newest, 00:00:47.51\00:00:49.38 latest way to treat oral pains. 00:00:49.41\00:00:52.01 Lots of snuggles and cuddles and then there's actually... 00:00:52.05\00:00:54.65 Oral gel or something? 00:00:54.68\00:00:56.02 Yeah, there's a gel 00:00:56.05\00:00:57.39 and there's also just a medication 00:00:57.42\00:00:58.79 that we just drop and it helps numb 00:00:58.82\00:01:00.49 some of the pain. 00:01:00.52\00:01:01.86 Yeah, well, that's, that's 00:01:01.89\00:01:03.22 because they don't know what the pain is coming from. 00:01:03.26\00:01:05.03 Right. 00:01:05.06\00:01:06.39 And I think that's an important concept 00:01:06.43\00:01:07.76 and a pain from anywhere, especially oral pain, 00:01:07.80\00:01:10.60 if you don't know what's causing the pain, 00:01:10.63\00:01:12.60 it always increases your anxiety and stress 00:01:12.63\00:01:15.07 which makes the pain worse. 00:01:15.10\00:01:17.04 If you have control over the pain 00:01:17.07\00:01:18.61 and know about it, 00:01:18.64\00:01:19.97 you know, know when to worry, 00:01:20.01\00:01:21.34 when not to worry, who to go to? 00:01:21.38\00:01:23.61 I think that we know that helps lower the stress 00:01:23.65\00:01:25.81 of the body 00:01:25.85\00:01:27.18 which turns off some of those chemicals 00:01:27.22\00:01:28.85 which makes the pain even more pronounced 00:01:28.88\00:01:31.12 and that's what we're trying to do here, 00:01:31.15\00:01:32.49 you know, I bet, I'm not an expert, 00:01:32.52\00:01:34.29 I don't know a lot of, 00:01:34.32\00:01:35.66 you know, I don't see a lot of people 00:01:35.69\00:01:37.03 with oral pain every day 00:01:37.06\00:01:38.39 but by learning some basic principles 00:01:38.43\00:01:40.26 and sharing 00:01:40.30\00:01:41.63 hopefully this will let them know 00:01:41.66\00:01:43.00 what to do, who to go to, where to go to for help. 00:01:43.03\00:01:45.07 That's right. 00:01:45.10\00:01:46.43 Now we talked a little bit 00:01:46.47\00:01:47.80 after break about processed sugar. 00:01:47.84\00:01:49.50 Yeah. 00:01:49.54\00:01:50.87 I mean everyone struggles with processed sugar. 00:01:50.91\00:01:52.24 You know a couple of years ago my wife was pregnant, 00:01:52.27\00:01:55.11 we didn't have any kids yet, my wife was pregnant 00:01:55.14\00:01:56.75 and we went on vacation 00:01:56.78\00:01:58.35 and I had tried to join this ten day challenge 00:01:58.38\00:02:01.28 where I was going to learn about all the different kinds 00:02:01.32\00:02:03.05 of refined sugars and learn all 00:02:03.08\00:02:04.52 the different names cos it comes 00:02:04.55\00:02:05.89 in a ton of different names, 00:02:05.92\00:02:07.39 and I was trying to avoid it for ten days 00:02:07.42\00:02:08.99 but that ten days overlapped the vacation 00:02:09.02\00:02:11.49 and that's not a good strategy. 00:02:11.53\00:02:12.96 Let me tell you 00:02:12.99\00:02:14.73 I made it to the fifth day. 00:02:14.76\00:02:16.33 And I was avoiding sugar pretty well. 00:02:16.36\00:02:18.43 And we were on vacation, my wife was pregnant, 00:02:18.47\00:02:21.60 she wanted an ice cream cone. 00:02:21.64\00:02:23.10 Yeah. 00:02:23.14\00:02:24.47 And I couldn't let her eat alone. 00:02:24.51\00:02:26.14 So we shared an ice cream cone and I ended my challenge there. 00:02:26.17\00:02:29.31 But since then, it was a good experience 00:02:29.34\00:02:31.28 because I've learned more about where sugar is 00:02:31.31\00:02:33.98 eats and foods you don't even think it's in. 00:02:34.02\00:02:36.58 And so I have reduced my intake of sugar from that experience. 00:02:36.62\00:02:40.49 My struggle is with donuts, 00:02:40.52\00:02:42.32 oh, man, donuts processed sugar, 00:02:42.36\00:02:44.59 so I'm trying to find substitutes 00:02:44.63\00:02:46.29 you know hopefully you can find 00:02:46.33\00:02:47.66 good healthy substitutes for the bad 00:02:47.70\00:02:49.66 healthy sugars instead of processed sugars. 00:02:49.70\00:02:51.03 Yeah, 00:02:51.07\00:02:52.40 You know just recently 00:02:52.43\00:02:53.77 we've had some really good pears 00:02:53.80\00:02:55.14 at our house 00:02:55.17\00:02:56.50 and they're pretty sweet, pretty tasty, pretty good. 00:02:56.54\00:02:58.37 Yeah, I guess you could cut it up 00:02:58.41\00:02:59.74 like a donut and you'd be happy with it huh. 00:02:59.77\00:03:01.14 Yeah, that'll be great, that'll be great. 00:03:01.18\00:03:03.71 We've had some questions and I guess, you know, 00:03:03.75\00:03:06.65 if I can't handle this I'm going to call 00:03:06.68\00:03:08.95 Dr Davis on my cell phone 00:03:08.98\00:03:10.99 and maybe he could break away from a patient 00:03:11.02\00:03:12.82 and help me out with these here, 00:03:12.85\00:03:14.19 but we will do the best we can 00:03:14.22\00:03:15.92 to answer these questions about oral pain. 00:03:15.96\00:03:18.33 And we like to thank people who have visited our website 00:03:18.36\00:03:20.60 to submit these questions 00:03:20.63\00:03:21.96 and our first question is, "Why is my throat always sore?" 00:03:22.00\00:03:25.90 Dr Markham. 00:03:25.93\00:03:27.27 Well, sore throats I would think 00:03:27.30\00:03:28.90 the most logical thing is would be an infection. 00:03:28.94\00:03:31.37 We talked about the infections, the bacterial flexions, 00:03:31.41\00:03:34.71 that can be treated with antibiotics, 00:03:34.74\00:03:36.85 the viral flexions that we usually do to with the time 00:03:36.88\00:03:41.12 but other things that might cause 00:03:41.15\00:03:42.52 a sore throat is sinus drainage. 00:03:42.55\00:03:44.79 Yeah. 00:03:44.82\00:03:46.15 You know post nasal drip can cause a sore throat 00:03:46.19\00:03:48.02 and unfortunately I've seen a few people 00:03:48.06\00:03:50.03 that have reflux, 00:03:50.06\00:03:51.39 you know, we talked about acid bubbling up. 00:03:51.43\00:03:53.70 Acid can bubble up all the way to the mouth 00:03:53.73\00:03:56.30 and I saw one fellow once, 00:03:56.33\00:03:58.27 he was really sick retching 00:03:58.30\00:03:59.90 and he actually the bad stuff came up so much 00:03:59.93\00:04:03.20 that it caused damage to the back of his throat. 00:04:03.24\00:04:05.67 He had a sore throat for a long period of time. 00:04:05.71\00:04:08.18 So those are some things that can cause a sore throat, 00:04:08.21\00:04:12.31 if, of course, if you're dehydrated ok, 00:04:12.35\00:04:14.52 that can sometimes cause a sore throat. 00:04:14.55\00:04:17.15 But when you have a sore throat what do you do? 00:04:17.19\00:04:19.32 Ok, well, 00:04:19.35\00:04:20.69 have someone look in the back to see if it's an infection, 00:04:20.72\00:04:23.16 see if you can know what the cause of it is. 00:04:23.19\00:04:25.36 And if it doesn't go away 00:04:25.39\00:04:26.73 sometimes it needs an antibiotic 00:04:26.76\00:04:28.16 but usually something that will make it 00:04:28.20\00:04:29.53 feel better right away 00:04:29.56\00:04:30.90 is gargling warm salt water that usually helps hydrate it, 00:04:30.93\00:04:35.07 salt so they relieve the pain. 00:04:35.10\00:04:36.81 They also make some lozenges that will help numb the pain. 00:04:36.84\00:04:40.34 And sometimes that's all that's needed till the body 00:04:40.38\00:04:42.94 can heal itself. 00:04:42.98\00:04:44.35 Now if acid or post nasal drip or bad infection. 00:04:44.38\00:04:47.08 You want to treat the underlying cause 00:04:47.12\00:04:49.12 and that will help the pain 00:04:49.15\00:04:50.49 so that's some of the things that causes a sore throat. 00:04:50.52\00:04:53.05 Now here's one thing that I saw one time 00:04:53.09\00:04:55.52 I saw one kid that had a stick 00:04:55.56\00:04:58.26 and he shoved the stick in his mouth 00:04:58.29\00:04:59.83 and it went back of his throat and that caused him 00:04:59.86\00:05:02.46 we know kids are putting stuff in their mouth all the time, 00:05:02.50\00:05:05.23 you'll be surprised. 00:05:05.27\00:05:06.77 Your kids will put pins in their mouth, 00:05:06.80\00:05:08.64 they'll put toys in their mouth. 00:05:08.67\00:05:10.11 They'll put things in their mouth 00:05:10.14\00:05:11.47 and if they come to you and have a sore throat 00:05:11.51\00:05:13.74 you might just want to say, 00:05:13.78\00:05:15.11 "Hey, Haden did you stick some in mouth 00:05:15.14\00:05:16.75 and shove it in there?" 00:05:16.78\00:05:18.11 And there is some trauma. Yeah, they do funny things. 00:05:18.15\00:05:19.48 Tinker toys I've seen before. 00:05:19.51\00:05:21.12 So that might be something you put in the back 00:05:21.15\00:05:23.42 of your mind especially if you have kids. 00:05:23.45\00:05:24.95 Adults usually we don't have that problem. 00:05:24.99\00:05:26.52 You know when I was a kid 00:05:26.55\00:05:27.89 if we had a sore throat or cough, 00:05:27.92\00:05:29.26 my dad always have us drink 00:05:29.29\00:05:30.63 lots of water and take vitamin C. 00:05:30.66\00:05:31.99 is vitamin C. helpful for sore throat or... 00:05:32.03\00:05:34.36 It's not going to hurt I mean, 00:05:34.40\00:05:35.86 it's an anti-oxidant that might help a little bit 00:05:35.90\00:05:38.93 but a lot of people think 00:05:38.97\00:05:40.30 it helps boost your immune system. 00:05:40.34\00:05:42.50 But anything that will boost your immune system will help. 00:05:42.54\00:05:45.21 So vitamin D in the sun, 00:05:45.24\00:05:47.48 exercise will boost your immune system, 00:05:47.51\00:05:49.68 eating the right foods, anti-oxidants. 00:05:49.71\00:05:51.48 So anything that will make your immune system stronger 00:05:51.51\00:05:53.95 will help infections quite a bit. 00:05:53.98\00:05:56.08 Now here's an interesting we talk about sore throat 00:05:56.12\00:05:58.05 this was not a sore throat but I knew someone once 00:05:58.09\00:06:00.29 the chewed toothpicks all the time. 00:06:00.32\00:06:02.26 Always had a tooth pick in his mouth. 00:06:02.29\00:06:04.29 When he had that toothpick one time 00:06:04.33\00:06:05.83 and he got in a bad position 00:06:05.86\00:06:07.30 and it can cause quite a bit of oral pain. 00:06:07.33\00:06:09.36 I guess a little bit of that. 00:06:09.40\00:06:10.73 So if you're a toothpick chewer. 00:06:10.77\00:06:12.60 Be careful. 00:06:12.63\00:06:13.97 Because anything you stick in your mouth 00:06:14.00\00:06:15.47 could cause some type of oral pain 00:06:15.50\00:06:17.11 and especially if it has sharp ends, 00:06:17.14\00:06:18.67 so I try not to stick anything in the mouth 00:06:18.71\00:06:20.84 unless it's heading south to the stomach. 00:06:20.88\00:06:23.28 Alright that sounds like great advice. 00:06:23.31\00:06:24.65 Wait, wait here's another one. 00:06:24.68\00:06:26.01 Alright. A pearl, a pearl. 00:06:26.05\00:06:27.52 If people chew gum, 00:06:27.55\00:06:29.08 if they chew gum sometimes you're not paying attention 00:06:29.12\00:06:31.75 and you chew your tongue, 00:06:31.79\00:06:33.15 another cause of oral pain. 00:06:33.19\00:06:35.06 Have you ever bitten your tongue? 00:06:35.09\00:06:36.42 Yeah, and it's the one of the worst things 00:06:36.46\00:06:37.79 like I don't have too much pain in my body generally 00:06:37.83\00:06:39.33 but if I bite the side of my cheek 00:06:39.36\00:06:40.70 or if I bite my tongue. 00:06:40.73\00:06:42.06 That seems to be 00:06:42.10\00:06:43.43 one of those most painful things I get. 00:06:43.47\00:06:44.80 Yeah, tongues are very vascular too. 00:06:44.83\00:06:46.57 They heal up and I had a person that bit their tongue so bad 00:06:46.60\00:06:49.60 once they had to have a stitch in their tongue. 00:06:49.64\00:06:50.97 Oh, my... 00:06:51.01\00:06:52.34 That's when it gets really bad. 00:06:52.37\00:06:53.71 In tongues you have to be careful 00:06:53.74\00:06:55.08 with because tongues believe it or not 00:06:55.11\00:06:56.44 are dirty organs 00:06:56.48\00:06:57.81 because there's so much bacteria 00:06:57.85\00:06:59.18 in the mouth 00:06:59.21\00:07:00.55 and they can get infected pretty easy. 00:07:00.58\00:07:01.92 So those are some preventive medicines 00:07:01.95\00:07:03.28 that you can do and tongues bleed a lot 00:07:03.32\00:07:06.15 if you're if you have a bite your tongue 00:07:06.19\00:07:08.36 or get something wrong with your tongue 00:07:08.39\00:07:09.72 and is a cause oral pain. 00:07:09.76\00:07:11.09 It's going to bleed quite a bit. 00:07:11.13\00:07:12.56 Yeah, well let's take a look at another question here. 00:07:12.59\00:07:14.53 Someone writes in, 00:07:14.56\00:07:15.90 "What is the function of your tonsils." 00:07:15.93\00:07:17.63 Well, no one really knows that, 00:07:17.67\00:07:19.27 we can, I actually had my tonsils removed 00:07:19.30\00:07:21.37 but some people think it has something to do 00:07:21.40\00:07:23.44 with detoxifying, you know, 00:07:23.47\00:07:24.94 sort of an organ that helps with infections 00:07:24.97\00:07:27.38 but you can live without them. 00:07:27.41\00:07:28.74 So I'm not really sure what the tonsils do 00:07:28.78\00:07:32.25 but they do seem to be a place 00:07:32.28\00:07:33.72 where infections tend to deposit 00:07:33.75\00:07:35.82 and some people thought it was immune tissue 00:07:35.85\00:07:37.75 and had something to do with your immune system. 00:07:37.79\00:07:40.19 But if you're having lots of sore throats, 00:07:40.22\00:07:42.19 lots of oral pain from that, 00:07:42.22\00:07:43.76 sometimes the tonsils pick up bacteria 00:07:43.79\00:07:46.46 and infections more than other parts. 00:07:46.49\00:07:48.56 So you have a tonsillectomy, 00:07:48.60\00:07:50.77 that's where they removed the tonsils. 00:07:50.80\00:07:52.33 I had mine removed 00:07:52.37\00:07:53.70 when I was five or six because, 00:07:53.74\00:07:55.07 I kept getting frequent strep throats. 00:07:55.10\00:07:57.11 Ok. 00:07:57.14\00:07:58.47 So I had mine removed when I was young 00:07:58.51\00:07:59.84 and I had it done in Nashville, Tennessee. 00:07:59.87\00:08:01.71 My tonsils were out and I could remember 00:08:01.74\00:08:03.14 it was great because afterwards. 00:08:03.18\00:08:04.51 Now they weren't... 00:08:04.55\00:08:05.88 this was years ago, 00:08:05.91\00:08:07.25 Nick and afterwards guess 00:08:07.28\00:08:08.62 what they gave you after you had 00:08:08.65\00:08:09.98 your tonsils removed. 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.35 Was that ice cream? Yes. 00:08:11.39\00:08:12.72 Probably not the best in processed sugar 00:08:12.75\00:08:14.09 but they didn't know everything back 00:08:14.12\00:08:15.46 then you know we probably should give me 00:08:15.49\00:08:17.13 some sorbet or something. 00:08:17.16\00:08:18.49 Although, it probably helped you be happy, 00:08:18.53\00:08:20.53 which probably was a good thing.' 00:08:20.56\00:08:21.90 Yeah, they got me over the hump of having my tonsils out 00:08:21.93\00:08:25.30 but if you haven't done tonsils out at a younger age, 00:08:25.33\00:08:27.60 it's a little bit easier 00:08:27.64\00:08:28.97 than waiting till you're older to have em out. 00:08:29.00\00:08:30.54 Now, educate us a little bit where is the tonsils? 00:08:30.57\00:08:32.87 Is it in the back of the throat or what? 00:08:32.91\00:08:34.84 It's usually to the sides 00:08:34.88\00:08:36.21 and if you open your mouth and look to your sides 00:08:36.24\00:08:38.61 if you still have them you can usually see them 00:08:38.65\00:08:40.65 and I don't want to do it on air 00:08:40.68\00:08:42.02 but this is one go to Wikipedia. 00:08:42.05\00:08:45.15 Wikipedia. Yeah, check it out on that. 00:08:45.19\00:08:46.52 And look at out where your tonsils 00:08:46.55\00:08:47.89 are but it's over here to the... 00:08:47.92\00:08:49.26 Kind of back of the side... 00:08:49.29\00:08:50.63 Yeah, back on the side, you can see em, 00:08:50.66\00:08:51.99 if you still have them. 00:08:52.03\00:08:53.36 And, but the main thing is if it causes, 00:08:53.40\00:08:54.73 if you have lots of infections in your throat 00:08:54.76\00:08:56.36 that might be 00:08:56.40\00:08:57.73 something you might want to have removed. 00:08:57.77\00:08:59.77 Alright, 00:08:59.80\00:09:01.14 our next viewer writes in and asks, 00:09:01.17\00:09:02.50 "What could be causing lip pain?" 00:09:02.54\00:09:04.54 Pain in your lips. 00:09:04.57\00:09:06.64 Wow, that's a good question. 00:09:06.68\00:09:08.54 Well, I'd have to talk to that person 00:09:08.58\00:09:10.28 because dry lips I guess could. 00:09:10.31\00:09:11.65 Yeah. 00:09:11.68\00:09:13.01 Sores could cause pain in the lips, 00:09:13.05\00:09:14.85 using your lips too much ok, 00:09:14.88\00:09:17.52 if you're a big, 00:09:17.55\00:09:18.89 big time kisser I guess Nick if you kept kissing 00:09:18.92\00:09:21.29 persons over and over I guess that could 00:09:21.32\00:09:22.82 you know wear your lips out 00:09:22.86\00:09:24.19 but that is a good question 00:09:24.23\00:09:25.56 that I'm going to have to defer to a dentist, 00:09:25.59\00:09:27.60 but sores I would guess could cause it. 00:09:27.63\00:09:30.87 You know those would be some of the more common things... 00:09:30.90\00:09:32.73 So let's say... 00:09:32.77\00:09:34.10 ...Lip pain other than sores and cankers 00:09:34.14\00:09:35.57 and things like that, 00:09:35.60\00:09:36.94 that they're usually viral infections 00:09:36.97\00:09:38.44 and immune system like reactions. 00:09:38.47\00:09:40.71 Sometimes of course, 00:09:40.74\00:09:42.08 if the lips gets too dry 00:09:42.11\00:09:43.45 they're more prone to cracking 00:09:43.48\00:09:44.95 and that can hurt as well so water would help the lips. 00:09:44.98\00:09:48.32 So I'm guessing this person probably 00:09:48.35\00:09:49.68 only had severely chapped lips 00:09:49.72\00:09:51.15 or some kind of sore 00:09:51.19\00:09:52.52 and you said a sore is a viral infection? 00:09:52.55\00:09:54.19 Usually the viral, 00:09:54.22\00:09:55.56 usually viral infections trigger it 00:09:55.59\00:09:56.99 and here's another thing 00:09:57.03\00:09:58.36 when we're talking about oral and mouth health. 00:09:58.39\00:10:00.33 Never put your mouth, 00:10:00.36\00:10:01.70 we talked about putting sharp things 00:10:01.73\00:10:03.06 in your mouth. 00:10:03.10\00:10:04.43 That's a no, no. 00:10:04.47\00:10:05.80 Another thing is putting your mouth 00:10:05.83\00:10:07.17 on very cold things, 00:10:07.20\00:10:08.54 don't do that you know 00:10:08.57\00:10:09.90 if you hear this occasionally... 00:10:09.94\00:10:11.27 Your stories with kids... 00:10:11.31\00:10:13.74 Even adults, you know the teenagers. 00:10:13.78\00:10:15.28 I dare you to stick your tongue on this cold, ice cube. 00:10:15.31\00:10:18.58 I dare you to kiss this cold ice cube... 00:10:18.61\00:10:20.55 And end up with some trauma. 00:10:20.58\00:10:21.92 That's not good and that's a traumatic thing... 00:10:21.95\00:10:23.72 Right. 00:10:23.75\00:10:25.09 I tell this because it does happen. 00:10:25.12\00:10:26.45 I don't think these things happen 00:10:26.49\00:10:27.82 but occasionally these things happen 00:10:27.86\00:10:29.19 and this is a way to lower your risk 00:10:29.22\00:10:30.56 and anything, you know, that's a good point. 00:10:30.59\00:10:32.09 Anything that we put in our, 00:10:32.13\00:10:33.86 our mouth that's too hot or too cold could cause damage. 00:10:33.90\00:10:37.53 That's right. 00:10:37.57\00:10:38.90 Think about it, you eat some hot foods 00:10:38.93\00:10:40.77 and it can cause oral pain as well. 00:10:40.80\00:10:42.84 Yeah, you know with young kids it's something we're always 00:10:42.87\00:10:45.07 trying to be aware of make sure 00:10:45.11\00:10:46.44 we don't give something that's too hot because, 00:10:46.47\00:10:48.31 inevitably I'm sure everybody does at once 00:10:48.34\00:10:49.81 and you realize oh, oh, 00:10:49.84\00:10:51.18 that's too hot for him and it end up 00:10:51.21\00:10:52.78 in a bad time. 00:10:52.81\00:10:54.15 A lot of adults drink hot drinks 00:10:54.18\00:10:55.68 and that causes acute damage 00:10:55.72\00:10:57.49 and you don't want to burn yourself 00:10:57.52\00:10:58.85 because that can cause oral pain so that's, 00:10:58.89\00:11:00.49 that could cause lip pain if it got in your lip. 00:11:00.52\00:11:02.62 But I don't see a lot of lip pain 00:11:02.66\00:11:03.99 in my practice. 00:11:04.03\00:11:05.83 That's good. I'm glad people are... 00:11:05.86\00:11:07.20 Usually not life threatening. 00:11:07.23\00:11:09.23 So who would you see it if you had, 00:11:09.26\00:11:10.60 if had lip pain, 00:11:10.63\00:11:11.97 you see a dermatologist maybe your dentist. 00:11:12.00\00:11:13.44 I'd see my dentist first, 00:11:13.47\00:11:14.80 because he probably sees more lip pains 00:11:14.84\00:11:16.17 than other people, 00:11:16.20\00:11:17.54 some people I guess bite their lips, you know. 00:11:17.57\00:11:18.91 Yeah, right. 00:11:18.94\00:11:20.28 You know, if they're nervous type of person. 00:11:20.31\00:11:22.51 Let's move on to another question, 00:11:22.54\00:11:25.28 "What is the best tooth brush to use." 00:11:25.31\00:11:26.65 Ok. 00:11:26.68\00:11:28.02 The best tooth brush to use 00:11:28.05\00:11:29.38 is anything that you actually use on a regular basis. 00:11:29.42\00:11:31.29 The one that you'll use right? 00:11:31.32\00:11:32.65 But I actually asked Dr Davis that question some others 00:11:32.69\00:11:34.52 and they say the one that's the best is the one 00:11:34.56\00:11:37.69 you know not the manual one 00:11:37.73\00:11:39.06 but they sort of the ones that spring put the water, 00:11:39.09\00:11:42.06 it's more like a water pick one. 00:11:42.10\00:11:43.43 Ok. Or the electric ones. 00:11:43.47\00:11:44.80 And the electric ones? 00:11:44.83\00:11:46.17 Electric ones and the ones 00:11:46.20\00:11:47.54 that have water come out the same time, 00:11:47.57\00:11:48.90 those are very good. 00:11:48.94\00:11:50.27 I don't know why I never I got the habit of using 00:11:50.31\00:11:51.64 just a regular one myself, 00:11:51.67\00:11:53.01 but some people that use the electric one 00:11:53.04\00:11:55.01 say that's great, 00:11:55.04\00:11:56.38 but I think the key is just to use the toothbrush, 00:11:56.41\00:11:59.31 floss on a regular basis 00:11:59.35\00:12:01.25 that's probably the best thing 00:12:01.28\00:12:02.62 that we can do not only for oral health 00:12:02.65\00:12:04.42 but it can prevent how halitosis, 00:12:04.45\00:12:06.35 keeping the mouth clean can get rid of sores in the mouth, 00:12:06.39\00:12:09.89 drinking lots of water all those things 00:12:09.92\00:12:11.83 are just great for the mouth 00:12:11.86\00:12:13.73 and I hope no one out there has mouth oral pain. 00:12:13.76\00:12:16.73 Well, Dr Markham thank you for sharing your thoughts 00:12:16.77\00:12:19.13 and thank you for watching this program. 00:12:19.17\00:12:20.70 If you're having serious mouth pain, 00:12:20.74\00:12:22.84 please go see your dentist. 00:12:22.87\00:12:24.21 And then if you have other questions, 00:12:24.24\00:12:25.87 go to our website at Hearwiseministries.org. 00:12:25.91\00:12:28.14 And we'll get you the best information we can. 00:12:28.18\00:12:30.25 Dr Markham will close the program 00:12:30.28\00:12:31.61 with prayer in just a moment. 00:12:31.65\00:12:32.98 So stay with us. 00:12:33.01\00:12:34.35 I hope no one in our viewing audience 00:12:43.86\00:12:45.99 is having mouth or oral pain. 00:12:46.03\00:12:48.76 It's not fun to have but remember 00:12:48.80\00:12:50.57 if you have pain in your mouth or anywhere, 00:12:50.60\00:12:53.37 that's your signal that something's wrong 00:12:53.40\00:12:55.50 so pay attention to that symptom. 00:12:55.54\00:12:58.01 Pain is a way that we learn that something's not going well 00:12:58.04\00:13:01.11 with our body and sometimes just common sense 00:13:01.14\00:13:04.11 is what we need to help prevent 00:13:04.15\00:13:06.15 episodes of pain. 00:13:06.18\00:13:07.52 Let's pray together. 00:13:07.55\00:13:09.48 Father in heaven, 00:13:09.52\00:13:10.85 there are some out there that are having pain. 00:13:10.89\00:13:13.09 We want you to be with them. 00:13:13.12\00:13:14.46 There's both the physical pain 00:13:14.49\00:13:15.89 and also the mental pains of life 00:13:15.92\00:13:17.89 and we know that you're the ultimate physician 00:13:17.93\00:13:20.10 who wants to be a part of every aspect. 00:13:20.13\00:13:22.46 Thank you for being with us today, 00:13:22.50\00:13:24.77 and guiding us in knowledge and truth. 00:13:24.80\00:13:27.20 This is our prayer. 00:13:27.24\00:13:28.77 Amen. 00:13:28.80\00:13:31.21 Well, if you have more questions. 00:13:31.24\00:13:33.01 I'm going to get them to Dr. Davis, 00:13:33.04\00:13:34.54 you can go to our website that's Heartwiseministries.org. 00:13:34.58\00:13:38.81 And I'm Dr James Markham, wishing you the best of health. 00:13:38.85\00:13:43.45
