Welcome back to the program, I'm your host Nick Evenson, 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.70 here with Dr. James Marcum. 00:00:02.73\00:00:04.07 And on today's pain series, 00:00:04.10\00:00:05.83 we're talking about abdominal pain. 00:00:05.87\00:00:08.04 And Dr. Marcum, just a review 00:00:08.07\00:00:10.04 what we talked about in the last segment. 00:00:10.07\00:00:11.47 We talked about how important nutrition is 00:00:11.51\00:00:14.61 to make sure that we don't overtax 00:00:14.64\00:00:16.58 our digestive tract, right. 00:00:16.61\00:00:18.65 And the food goes in, it's processed in the stomach 00:00:18.68\00:00:21.18 by all these bacteria and the microbiome... 00:00:21.22\00:00:23.62 In the bowels. 00:00:23.65\00:00:24.99 In the bowels and then excreted. 00:00:25.02\00:00:26.35 And what are some other sources of pain 00:00:26.39\00:00:30.03 that can come in the abdomen 00:00:30.06\00:00:32.19 aside from the digestive tracts? 00:00:32.23\00:00:33.56 Well, we talked about the big tube, 00:00:33.60\00:00:34.93 but there, you know, it pulls energy out 00:00:34.96\00:00:36.33 but there is a lot of organs that support this big tube. 00:00:36.36\00:00:39.20 For instance, the gall bladder, 00:00:39.23\00:00:40.70 its function is to digest fat. 00:00:40.74\00:00:42.84 Okay. 00:00:42.87\00:00:44.21 So the gall bladder frequently malfunctions 00:00:44.24\00:00:45.57 if a person brings in too much fat, 00:00:45.61\00:00:47.54 the gallbladder has to overwork. 00:00:47.58\00:00:49.74 Sometime the gallbladder develop stones. 00:00:49.78\00:00:52.55 And stones get in the ducts 00:00:52.58\00:00:54.35 that help where the gallbladder works 00:00:54.38\00:00:58.22 and it can cause gallstones and it needs surgery. 00:00:58.25\00:01:00.92 The pancreas is involved there, 00:01:00.96\00:01:02.72 and the pancreas's function is to help with digest proteins 00:01:02.76\00:01:05.96 and it also helps in insulin and things of that nature. 00:01:05.99\00:01:09.80 And the liver is there, which is a detoxifying agent 00:01:09.83\00:01:13.13 in the abdominal cavity as well you have the aorta 00:01:13.17\00:01:16.20 which feeds it with blood. 00:01:16.24\00:01:17.57 And we can have, you know, we can have vascular disease, 00:01:17.61\00:01:20.18 you know, aneurysms can happen there 00:01:20.21\00:01:22.21 in the abdomen area. 00:01:22.24\00:01:24.05 We gonna have problems with the liver 00:01:24.08\00:01:25.55 or we could talk about the gallbladder, 00:01:25.58\00:01:27.15 the pancreas and then the big tube itself. 00:01:27.18\00:01:30.42 So those are about 00:01:30.45\00:01:31.79 all of the structures that are there. 00:01:31.82\00:01:33.66 But all those, lot of the structures 00:01:33.69\00:01:35.36 there are to help with energy, you know. 00:01:35.39\00:01:38.73 The big tube helps us get energy into the body, 00:01:38.76\00:01:40.96 the right type, the right foods and the right things 00:01:41.00\00:01:43.90 that our body needs to survive 00:01:43.93\00:01:46.03 and the pancreas the liver that helps, 00:01:46.07\00:01:48.54 you know, to get rid of the bad things 00:01:48.57\00:01:50.57 as well as you know, helps us digest as well. 00:01:50.61\00:01:53.31 So there's a lot of interesting things going 00:01:53.34\00:01:56.21 and you know, we talked about 00:01:56.24\00:01:57.58 how we look at the tube you know, 00:01:57.61\00:01:58.95 both with colonoscopy and EGD if it malfunctions, 00:01:58.98\00:02:01.88 if it's causing pain. 00:02:01.92\00:02:03.35 Now if it's not the big tube that's causing pain, 00:02:03.39\00:02:06.05 let's says it's a gallbladder or pancreas or the liver, 00:02:06.09\00:02:09.92 we can use blood work to look at those 00:02:09.96\00:02:11.86 to see if the blood is changed. 00:02:11.89\00:02:13.60 We can look at ultrasound, CAT scans 00:02:13.63\00:02:16.50 and in some rare instances we can't figure out anything, 00:02:16.53\00:02:18.87 sometimes we still do exploratory surgery 00:02:18.90\00:02:21.77 to look at the organ itself to see if it's malfunctioning, 00:02:21.80\00:02:24.91 if something one of these tests don't pick up something. 00:02:24.94\00:02:27.98 But these are people 00:02:28.01\00:02:29.34 that have pretty serious abdominal pains 00:02:29.38\00:02:30.95 that have that pains that usually 00:02:30.98\00:02:34.38 a doctor can talk to the patient, 00:02:34.42\00:02:35.98 examine the patient, 00:02:36.02\00:02:37.65 get a good history and figure out 00:02:37.69\00:02:39.39 what's causing the pain, whether it's something serious 00:02:39.42\00:02:42.32 that needs to be addressed right away 00:02:42.36\00:02:44.36 or something can wait. 00:02:44.39\00:02:45.96 Now, the serious conditions are things, of course, 00:02:45.99\00:02:48.83 an aneurysm would be serious, you know, 00:02:48.86\00:02:50.70 that's a blood vessel that gets big. 00:02:50.73\00:02:53.00 If the tube gets a hole in it, that's a medical emergency. 00:02:53.03\00:02:57.61 And there's some conditions 00:02:57.64\00:02:58.97 that cause the tube to get a hole in it. 00:02:59.01\00:03:00.58 Because if the tube get a hole in it 00:03:00.61\00:03:02.01 anywhere along the way, guess what? 00:03:02.04\00:03:04.18 Things leak out of that tube. Right. 00:03:04.21\00:03:06.18 And there's lots of bacteria and the bacteria leaks out 00:03:06.21\00:03:09.12 we have big infection problems. 00:03:09.15\00:03:11.25 If the esophagus has lots of acid in the stomach 00:03:11.29\00:03:13.66 then we have lots of acid leaking out. 00:03:13.69\00:03:15.82 So getting a hole along this process 00:03:15.86\00:03:17.89 from different things is a big problem as well. 00:03:17.93\00:03:20.20 But usually those are accompanied 00:03:20.23\00:03:22.36 by severe abdominal pain. 00:03:22.40\00:03:24.23 The belly gets tight, nausea, vomiting, 00:03:24.27\00:03:27.14 you are very very sick, 00:03:27.17\00:03:29.10 very very ill when those things happen. 00:03:29.14\00:03:31.21 So that's sort of a general overview 00:03:31.24\00:03:33.51 of abdominal pain. 00:03:33.54\00:03:34.88 And we can never cover everything in a few minutes. 00:03:34.91\00:03:36.48 That's right, yeah. 00:03:36.51\00:03:37.85 So if people have specific questions, 00:03:37.88\00:03:39.21 I want to invite you to go to the website 00:03:39.25\00:03:40.58 heartwiseministries.org 00:03:40.62\00:03:43.05 and we can get into this further their specific needs. 00:03:43.08\00:03:45.85 That's right. 00:03:45.89\00:03:47.22 And you know we've got a list of questions 00:03:47.26\00:03:48.59 that have come through the website, 00:03:48.62\00:03:49.96 so we wanna get to these today. 00:03:49.99\00:03:51.33 Yeah. 00:03:51.36\00:03:52.69 And the first question someone writes in is, 00:03:52.73\00:03:54.06 is there a possibility 00:03:54.10\00:03:55.43 of curing gastroesophageal reflux? 00:03:55.46\00:03:57.00 Yeah, well, first gastroesophageal reflux, 00:03:57.03\00:04:00.00 that's a stomach. 00:04:00.04\00:04:01.37 Esophageal reflux, that means things are refluxing 00:04:01.40\00:04:04.31 from the stomach up into the esophagus. 00:04:04.34\00:04:06.17 Right. 00:04:06.21\00:04:07.54 You've heard the term heartburn. 00:04:07.58\00:04:08.91 Mm-hmm. Okay, it's a very common term. 00:04:08.94\00:04:10.75 It's the acid gets up in the esophagus, 00:04:10.78\00:04:12.75 it damages the esophagus. 00:04:12.78\00:04:14.25 In fact if enough acid gets up in there, 00:04:14.28\00:04:16.58 sooner or later you can't swallow. 00:04:16.62\00:04:18.45 It can become sticky, 00:04:18.49\00:04:19.89 it can also even induce some certain types of cancers. 00:04:19.92\00:04:23.06 Mm-hmm. 00:04:23.09\00:04:24.43 We have a term called the Barrett's esophagus, 00:04:24.46\00:04:25.93 but anyway, so this is a problem. 00:04:25.96\00:04:28.96 Many people give acid medications for this 00:04:29.00\00:04:31.90 but some of the causes of this if they can get at the cause, 00:04:31.93\00:04:35.04 maybe you can cure it. 00:04:35.07\00:04:36.40 Yeah, sure. 00:04:36.44\00:04:37.77 For instance, if a person's eating late at night 00:04:37.81\00:04:39.47 and laying down, then the valve doesn't close, 00:04:39.51\00:04:42.64 gravity is not there and you get acid up there. 00:04:42.68\00:04:45.78 Sometimes a person is just not in good shape. 00:04:45.81\00:04:47.98 Sometimes exercise will help this. 00:04:48.02\00:04:50.22 Okay. 00:04:50.25\00:04:51.59 Sometimes losing weight will help this. 00:04:51.62\00:04:53.42 If it's due to eating too much caffeine 00:04:53.46\00:04:55.96 or diet that's heavy in protein, 00:04:55.99\00:04:58.16 sometimes that will help it. 00:04:58.19\00:05:00.16 Sometimes there's an infection in the stomach 00:05:00.20\00:05:02.63 called H. Pylori, that can cause it 00:05:02.66\00:05:05.33 and there's test we can do to see 00:05:05.37\00:05:06.94 if you have an infection in your stomach. 00:05:06.97\00:05:08.77 So yes, in some instances it can be cured, 00:05:08.80\00:05:11.87 in some instances if there's a severe problem 00:05:11.91\00:05:14.24 like hiatal hernia, 00:05:14.28\00:05:16.34 that the hernia changes the position of the stomach 00:05:16.38\00:05:18.71 so the stomach puts out more acid. 00:05:18.75\00:05:20.48 Sometimes it can't be cured in certain situations. 00:05:20.52\00:05:23.05 But now we even have surgeries to work with hiatal hernias. 00:05:23.08\00:05:26.79 So in many cases gastroesophageal reflux, 00:05:26.82\00:05:29.39 if you can get at the cause, this condition can be cured. 00:05:29.42\00:05:33.83 All right, how about this question, 00:05:33.86\00:05:35.76 what are the risks and benefits of screening for colonoscopy? 00:05:35.80\00:05:38.73 Yeah, well, anytime we talked about the big tube, you know, 00:05:38.77\00:05:41.74 anytime that the cells mutate and they start growing 00:05:41.77\00:05:45.24 the wrong type of cells we can have a malignancy. 00:05:45.27\00:05:48.24 Okay. 00:05:48.28\00:05:49.61 We know that colon cancer 00:05:49.64\00:05:51.31 if caught early is very easily treated 00:05:51.35\00:05:53.95 but if it caught late where it spread 00:05:53.98\00:05:55.95 the cancer's got out of the colon, 00:05:55.98\00:05:57.52 it's very hard to treat. 00:05:57.55\00:05:59.05 So a screening colonoscopy is very good 00:05:59.09\00:06:02.06 and very good for people that have family histories. 00:06:02.09\00:06:04.86 And if you have a family history 00:06:04.89\00:06:06.53 of colon cancer 00:06:06.56\00:06:07.90 they say you should get screened about 10 years 00:06:07.93\00:06:09.40 before the member of your family had it. 00:06:09.43\00:06:11.53 Okay. 00:06:11.57\00:06:12.90 So if your dad had colon cancer at the age 40, 00:06:12.93\00:06:14.27 you should start screening at 30. 00:06:14.30\00:06:16.54 It's pretty much recommended that you have 00:06:16.57\00:06:19.17 a screening colonoscopy at age 50. 00:06:19.21\00:06:22.28 Now some people don't like to get a screening colonoscopy 00:06:22.31\00:06:25.41 and there's other tests that can do it. 00:06:25.45\00:06:27.75 They are little bit more involved 00:06:27.78\00:06:29.18 than including measuring blood in your stool 00:06:29.22\00:06:31.35 for several times over and over. 00:06:31.39\00:06:33.86 Some of those tests are probably reasonable 00:06:33.89\00:06:36.02 in a person that's at a low risk. 00:06:36.06\00:06:38.53 I had mine done recently, 00:06:38.56\00:06:41.00 screened for colonoscopy and it wasn't that bad, 00:06:41.03\00:06:44.53 the prep where it cleans you out 00:06:44.57\00:06:46.03 was a little bit tough, 00:06:46.07\00:06:47.50 but I was glad that they looked in my bowels to make sure 00:06:47.54\00:06:49.84 I didn't have any type of problem going on. 00:06:49.87\00:06:52.64 No precancerous lesions which are called polyps. 00:06:52.67\00:06:56.71 It was pretty clean so I was happy about that, 00:06:56.75\00:06:58.71 but if you nip it in the bud, if you catch it early, 00:06:58.75\00:07:01.48 screening colonoscopies are very beneficial 00:07:01.52\00:07:03.75 and especially in high risk groups. 00:07:03.79\00:07:05.65 What are high risk groups? 00:07:05.69\00:07:07.02 People that have had cancer before, 00:07:07.06\00:07:08.62 people that eat high fat, 00:07:08.66\00:07:10.13 high protein diets are at higher risks. 00:07:10.16\00:07:12.93 Did you know that, Nick, people in Africa 00:07:12.96\00:07:15.66 that ate pretty much plants, they've never had colon cancer. 00:07:15.70\00:07:18.27 Wow. 00:07:18.30\00:07:19.63 Yeah, Burkitt study, they'll never 00:07:19.67\00:07:21.00 because they eat high fiber diets. 00:07:21.04\00:07:22.47 Yeah. 00:07:22.50\00:07:23.84 The carcinogens don't sit in the gut. 00:07:23.87\00:07:25.57 Now we know that people that eat 00:07:25.61\00:07:26.94 more animal based diet, guess what? 00:07:26.98\00:07:29.58 The gut because they don't have fiber, 00:07:29.61\00:07:31.01 the gut doesn't move the toxins through as quick, 00:07:31.05\00:07:33.38 the carcinogens stay in contact with the bowel gut longer 00:07:33.42\00:07:37.09 and they're more prone to have cancer. 00:07:37.12\00:07:39.22 So one of the treatments to lower your risk for cancer 00:07:39.25\00:07:41.72 is just move towards a high fiber, 00:07:41.76\00:07:43.69 whole food plant based diet. 00:07:43.73\00:07:45.29 So I would recommend 00:07:45.33\00:07:47.00 those are the benefits of the risks. 00:07:47.03\00:07:48.66 Of any procedure there is a risk of anesthesia, 00:07:48.70\00:07:51.73 and there's a risk of something going wrong 00:07:51.77\00:07:53.64 and you have to talk your doctor. 00:07:53.67\00:07:55.00 In your case, the risk versus the benefit, 00:07:55.04\00:07:57.54 lot of it has to do with family history, 00:07:57.57\00:07:59.14 your diet as well as your age. 00:07:59.17\00:08:01.08 You know, the theme that comes back over and over 00:08:01.11\00:08:03.14 as we discuss this pain series 00:08:03.18\00:08:05.08 is if we live more in harmony with our creator's design. 00:08:05.11\00:08:09.02 If we follow the biblical prescriptions, 00:08:09.05\00:08:10.89 we can avoid a lot of the issues 00:08:10.92\00:08:12.52 that we experience these days. 00:08:12.55\00:08:13.89 Lot of pain because less stress on the system, 00:08:13.92\00:08:15.96 long term chronic stress 00:08:15.99\00:08:17.76 eventually wears out the organs. 00:08:17.79\00:08:19.39 You're exactly right. 00:08:19.43\00:08:20.76 Nick, I'm glad you've been listening. 00:08:20.80\00:08:22.13 I have been, I have been, I'm taking notes. 00:08:22.16\00:08:23.60 I'm glad that you listened. 00:08:23.63\00:08:25.17 We've got another question about probiotics. 00:08:25.20\00:08:27.64 Should I take one or what's it gonna do for me? 00:08:27.67\00:08:29.90 Yeah, well, a probe... 00:08:29.94\00:08:31.31 Remember we talked about a trillion bacteria. 00:08:31.34\00:08:33.84 Probiotic is basically bacteria that you introduce 00:08:33.88\00:08:37.01 into the gut, good bacteria. 00:08:37.05\00:08:39.88 So a person let's say that takes an antibiotic. 00:08:39.91\00:08:42.52 Antibiotic disrupts the microbiome, 00:08:42.55\00:08:45.95 so that person might want to take a probiotic. 00:08:45.99\00:08:48.46 If a person has bowel problems 00:08:48.49\00:08:50.23 and they think that the microbiome, 00:08:50.26\00:08:52.59 the gut bacteria's involved, yes. 00:08:52.63\00:08:54.43 If you don't eat a healthy diet, 00:08:54.46\00:08:56.30 maybe you should take a probiotic 00:08:56.33\00:08:57.93 to help regulate the flora. 00:08:57.97\00:08:59.77 What are people that disrupt the flora? 00:08:59.80\00:09:01.37 People that don't eat fiber, 00:09:01.40\00:09:02.74 people that eat a lot of toxins, 00:09:02.77\00:09:04.17 a lot of animal products, 00:09:04.21\00:09:05.54 a lot of dairy those can disrupt this. 00:09:05.57\00:09:08.31 People eat a lot of processed foods 00:09:08.34\00:09:10.25 can disrupt this microbiome. 00:09:10.28\00:09:12.05 Change the entire chemistry, 00:09:12.08\00:09:13.58 changes the way nutrients get in the body, 00:09:13.62\00:09:16.12 what's gets in and out. 00:09:16.15\00:09:17.49 So those type of people might get a bit. 00:09:17.52\00:09:18.95 Now if you eat a whole food plant based diet, 00:09:18.99\00:09:21.29 your bowels work well, 00:09:21.32\00:09:22.92 then you probably don't need one. 00:09:22.96\00:09:24.66 If your stools, the bowel movements 00:09:24.69\00:09:26.63 are well formed, 00:09:26.66\00:09:28.06 you do well, you probably don't need it. 00:09:28.10\00:09:29.73 If you're a person that has 00:09:29.76\00:09:31.13 lots of chronic diarrhea or loose stools, 00:09:31.17\00:09:34.17 that tells me that maybe the microbiome is not effective 00:09:34.20\00:09:37.84 and maybe if you took a probiotic that would help. 00:09:37.87\00:09:39.84 But better yet eat the right food 00:09:39.87\00:09:41.91 so you don't need it. 00:09:41.94\00:09:43.28 So yes, so certain people should 00:09:43.31\00:09:45.61 and the doctor will help you determine what you needed. 00:09:45.65\00:09:48.48 But those are some general principals 00:09:48.52\00:09:49.85 I use on that. 00:09:49.88\00:09:51.52 Now as far as heart goes yes, 00:09:51.55\00:09:53.12 it contributes the heart disease 00:09:53.15\00:09:54.56 because an unhappy bowel that the microbiome is unhappy, 00:09:54.59\00:09:57.96 it turns on inflammation. 00:09:57.99\00:10:00.06 Inflammation and stress 00:10:00.10\00:10:01.50 activates a higher risk of heart disease. 00:10:01.53\00:10:04.13 So I actually screened to see if I think they need to take 00:10:04.17\00:10:06.74 a probiotic as well. 00:10:06.77\00:10:08.14 And if they're not eating well, they're at high risk group, 00:10:08.17\00:10:10.41 I suggest that they might want to take a probiotic. 00:10:10.44\00:10:12.74 All right. 00:10:12.77\00:10:14.11 We got another viewer who writes in 00:10:14.14\00:10:15.48 about constipation and they ask, 00:10:15.51\00:10:17.25 how much pain can be caused by constipation? 00:10:17.28\00:10:20.28 Is this... Yeah. 00:10:20.32\00:10:21.65 It's really painful or...? 00:10:21.68\00:10:23.02 Yes, I've never had it 00:10:23.05\00:10:24.39 but the patients who do have it. 00:10:24.42\00:10:25.75 What happens is this the bowel is blocked, 00:10:25.79\00:10:28.62 nothing gets through 00:10:28.66\00:10:30.16 and if it's a severe enough 00:10:30.19\00:10:31.53 you can have a bowel obstruction, 00:10:31.56\00:10:33.16 that means nothing gets through. 00:10:33.19\00:10:34.53 And that's not good and when the traffic stops 00:10:34.56\00:10:38.87 things back up behind the traffic. 00:10:38.90\00:10:40.24 Right. 00:10:40.27\00:10:41.60 And if things back up far enough, 00:10:41.64\00:10:42.97 you get sick at your stomach, you get nausea, 00:10:43.00\00:10:44.34 you get throw up. 00:10:44.37\00:10:45.71 Sometimes, of course you can't get nourishment. 00:10:45.74\00:10:47.98 Right. 00:10:48.01\00:10:49.34 So yes, constipation can cause pain 00:10:49.38\00:10:51.51 because things can't get through the gut, 00:10:51.55\00:10:53.08 it's a very common thing. 00:10:53.11\00:10:54.78 Some of the causes of it, the most common are probably 00:10:54.82\00:10:57.29 not drinking enough water and fiber, 00:10:57.32\00:10:59.22 not moving around very well, certain medications 00:10:59.25\00:11:03.02 especially pain medications can slow down the bowels. 00:11:03.06\00:11:06.09 The narcotics can slow down the bowels a lot as well. 00:11:06.13\00:11:09.93 There's some disease conditions that can also slow down 00:11:09.96\00:11:12.73 the motility of the bowel and we can slow it down 00:11:12.77\00:11:15.40 to the point where it gets backed up as well. 00:11:15.44\00:11:18.54 We see it a lot in after surgery you know, 00:11:18.57\00:11:20.91 anesthesia can slow down the bowels, 00:11:20.94\00:11:22.98 the patients laying in bed after bowel. 00:11:23.01\00:11:24.85 Sometimes the bowel doesn't get going 00:11:24.88\00:11:26.61 as quick as we like it to as well. 00:11:26.65\00:11:28.58 So constipation, bowel obstructions 00:11:28.62\00:11:31.19 serious stuff and it does cause pain. 00:11:31.22\00:11:33.59 How about this question. 00:11:33.62\00:11:34.96 What is the difference between diverticulitis 00:11:34.99\00:11:36.49 and diverticulosis? 00:11:36.52\00:11:37.86 Now what is diverticulitis? 00:11:37.89\00:11:39.29 Yeah, well, let's start with diverticulosis. 00:11:39.33\00:11:41.73 Okay. 00:11:41.76\00:11:43.10 Well, the big tube has out pocket, 00:11:43.13\00:11:44.47 well, sometimes it can get out pockets. 00:11:44.50\00:11:45.83 Okay. Okay. 00:11:45.87\00:11:47.20 Is that normal, or it's... No, it's not abnormal. 00:11:47.24\00:11:48.60 Okay, for instance, if you put lots of pressure in the tube, 00:11:48.64\00:11:51.81 things can poke out. 00:11:51.84\00:11:53.17 Okay. 00:11:53.21\00:11:54.54 Like a basketball, you know how basketball of the shell 00:11:54.58\00:11:55.91 you have pokes out. 00:11:55.94\00:11:57.28 Sure. 00:11:57.31\00:11:58.65 That's sort of what the tube does. 00:11:58.68\00:12:00.02 Okay. 00:12:00.05\00:12:01.38 And these pockets are called diverticulosis, okay. 00:12:01.42\00:12:02.75 Well, when there's pockets 00:12:02.78\00:12:04.12 and you get bacteria in those pockets, guess what? 00:12:04.15\00:12:06.96 The bacteria can cause an infection. 00:12:06.99\00:12:09.16 That's called diverticulitis. 00:12:09.19\00:12:11.49 Well, the infection is very serious 00:12:11.53\00:12:13.33 because if there's lots of inflammation, 00:12:13.36\00:12:15.16 the tube is at higher risk to have a hole poked in it. 00:12:15.20\00:12:17.63 Right. 00:12:17.67\00:12:19.00 And if a hole poked in it, guess where that bacteria goes? 00:12:19.03\00:12:20.60 Throughout the abdominal cavity which is called the perineum 00:12:20.64\00:12:24.11 and then you get a condition called peritonitis, 00:12:24.14\00:12:26.64 which is life threatening. 00:12:26.68\00:12:28.31 Okay. So yes, diverti... 00:12:28.34\00:12:30.01 and we can make this diagnosis by a CAT scans, 00:12:30.05\00:12:32.78 we can see these areas on colonoscopies. 00:12:32.81\00:12:35.58 On diverticulosis the way we keep that down 00:12:35.62\00:12:38.25 as we keep the pressure down in the bowel. 00:12:38.29\00:12:40.26 And you know, we don't strain a lot, 00:12:40.29\00:12:42.06 we eat lots of fiber, lots of water, 00:12:42.09\00:12:44.19 those type of things help 00:12:44.23\00:12:45.56 lower the risk of diverticulosis 00:12:45.59\00:12:47.10 and diverticulitis is of course painful 00:12:47.13\00:12:49.13 that usually needs an antibiotic. 00:12:49.16\00:12:51.43 So it sounds like 00:12:51.47\00:12:53.23 the main key point from today's program 00:12:53.27\00:12:55.44 is to eat a plant based diet 00:12:55.47\00:12:57.71 like God gave Adam and Eve in the garden. 00:12:57.74\00:12:59.57 And that's gonna help things pass through faster. 00:12:59.61\00:13:01.11 Yeah. 00:13:01.14\00:13:02.48 And that's gonna keep you from having a lot of these 00:13:02.51\00:13:03.85 different issues that we've discussed. 00:13:03.88\00:13:05.21 And when you do have an issue, 00:13:05.25\00:13:06.58 get it addressed to make sure it's not a serious issue 00:13:06.61\00:13:09.48 and then do that, you know, 00:13:09.52\00:13:10.89 get the acute problem taken care of 00:13:10.92\00:13:13.25 and then get back to the original plan 00:13:13.29\00:13:15.32 and see if you can figure out the stressor 00:13:15.36\00:13:17.56 on the abdominal system 00:13:17.59\00:13:18.93 that cause the pain in the first place. 00:13:18.96\00:13:20.76 Excellent, Dr. Marcum, thank you very much. 00:13:20.80\00:13:22.56 My pleasure. 00:13:22.60\00:13:23.93 You know we believe that one day 00:13:23.97\00:13:25.30 God will provide healing for everyone 00:13:25.33\00:13:26.67 when He takes us home, 00:13:26.70\00:13:28.04 there will be no more pain, no more sorrow 00:13:28.07\00:13:29.40 and we look forward to that day. 00:13:29.44\00:13:30.77 Stay with us as Dr. Marcum will close the program 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.14 with prayer. 00:13:32.17\00:13:33.51 Well, let's bow our heads for a moment in prayer. 00:13:41.08\00:13:44.99 Dear Heavenly Father, 00:13:45.02\00:13:46.35 I want to pray for each person out there 00:13:46.39\00:13:47.72 that might be having pain. 00:13:47.76\00:13:49.59 Help them to find the solutions 00:13:49.62\00:13:51.06 but also help them to turn to you first 00:13:51.09\00:13:53.29 for healing, Father. 00:13:53.33\00:13:54.93 We want to thank You for being with us 00:13:54.96\00:13:56.97 and stay and helping us to learn 00:13:57.00\00:13:58.33 a little bit more about your creation. 00:13:58.37\00:14:00.47 Now go with us Father and give us strength 00:14:00.50\00:14:03.04 and happiness is our prayer, amen. 00:14:03.07\00:14:06.44 Well, I hope you've learnt 00:14:06.47\00:14:07.81 something about abdominal pain today. 00:14:07.84\00:14:09.68 It's a big topic but if you're having pain, 00:14:09.71\00:14:12.21 I want you to get it checked out. 00:14:12.25\00:14:14.02 If I can help answer a question, 00:14:14.05\00:14:15.55 go to our website 00:14:15.58\00:14:16.92 and our website is heartwiseministries.org. 00:14:16.95\00:14:20.16
