Welcome back to the program 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.70 I'm Nick Evenson here with Dr. Marcum. 00:00:02.73\00:00:04.60 And today we're discussing back pain 00:00:04.63\00:00:06.40 and in the first half of the show, 00:00:06.43\00:00:08.07 in case you're just joining us we talked about back pain, 00:00:08.10\00:00:11.21 and how it can be a issue that deals, 00:00:11.24\00:00:14.38 comes from posture 00:00:14.41\00:00:15.84 or maybe we'll lift something wrong 00:00:15.88\00:00:19.11 and often the nerves send signals 00:00:19.15\00:00:22.05 from our muscles to our brain, 00:00:22.08\00:00:23.65 telling us hey, there is a problem here. 00:00:23.69\00:00:25.45 And sometimes we don't listen. 00:00:25.49\00:00:27.12 And sometimes we don't listen, that's right. 00:00:27.16\00:00:28.49 And that's a bigger problem 00:00:28.52\00:00:29.86 and we're talking about pain all over the body, 00:00:29.89\00:00:33.03 in most of time, back pain is not life threatening, 00:00:33.06\00:00:36.26 like we see in chest pain, 00:00:36.30\00:00:37.70 but back pain is not life threatening, 00:00:37.73\00:00:39.83 but if it's not attended to 00:00:39.87\00:00:41.60 it can become a chronic problem which can be worse. 00:00:41.64\00:00:44.14 That's right. 00:00:44.17\00:00:45.51 And unfortunately too many people with back pain 00:00:45.54\00:00:47.58 don't rest and get the attention to 00:00:47.61\00:00:49.48 and at the cost, 00:00:49.51\00:00:50.85 so they end up on the medicine path. 00:00:50.88\00:00:52.51 Right. 00:00:52.55\00:00:53.88 They're on anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, 00:00:53.92\00:00:56.42 pain pills that really don't solve the problem 00:00:56.45\00:00:59.35 and there is still out working and doing things 00:00:59.39\00:01:01.52 where they just had some posture, 00:01:01.56\00:01:03.66 some exercises, some stretching, 00:01:03.69\00:01:06.39 maybe work on their nutrition, you know, for their muscles, 00:01:06.43\00:01:09.13 maybe work on some massage, maybe some heat, 00:01:09.16\00:01:12.50 maybe something else, then the problem would go away 00:01:12.53\00:01:15.60 but I've seen so many people with a little back pain 00:01:15.64\00:01:17.67 that the don't take it seriously, 00:01:17.71\00:01:19.94 they just take the medicines and it becomes big, 00:01:19.97\00:01:21.64 and before long, it is possible 00:01:21.68\00:01:23.75 to become addicted to these pain medications. 00:01:23.78\00:01:26.45 Right, yeah. 00:01:26.48\00:01:27.82 The narcotics, people start taking them 00:01:27.85\00:01:29.55 and then all of a sudden they had to have it to survive. 00:01:29.58\00:01:32.12 And that's one of the points we want to bring out 00:01:32.15\00:01:34.26 is be careful with the treatment for back pain, 00:01:34.29\00:01:36.76 because if you're chronic on narcotics, 00:01:36.79\00:01:38.79 this can be something that's addicted 00:01:38.83\00:01:40.30 and what you're gonna do Nick, if you're 30 years old, 00:01:40.33\00:01:42.06 and taking narcotics, 00:01:42.10\00:01:43.43 you're gonna take it the rest of your life. 00:01:43.47\00:01:44.87 I hope not. 00:01:44.90\00:01:46.23 So that's why you know we made the point is early 00:01:46.27\00:01:47.94 if you're having a little back pain 00:01:47.97\00:01:49.30 don't put it off, even though it's not life threatening 00:01:49.34\00:01:51.64 get it looked at now. 00:01:51.67\00:01:53.14 Learn the things and take the time, 00:01:53.17\00:01:54.74 take the time to learn how to stretch 00:01:54.78\00:01:56.51 to learn how to take care of your body, 00:01:56.54\00:01:58.65 and to eat a better diet so we get better blood flow, 00:01:58.68\00:02:01.52 to drink more water, so our muscles hydrated, 00:02:01.55\00:02:04.05 to stretch more, or if you're working at a desk, 00:02:04.09\00:02:06.79 every hour walk around your desk, 00:02:06.82\00:02:09.26 you know to stretch before you lift up things, 00:02:09.29\00:02:11.63 just throw something up if you can't do it. 00:02:11.66\00:02:14.73 Those are the type of preventive measures 00:02:14.76\00:02:16.83 that might save a serious problem down the road. 00:02:16.87\00:02:20.34 Now do we have some questions that have come in? 00:02:20.37\00:02:21.70 Yeah, yeah. 00:02:21.74\00:02:23.07 If you go to our website heartwiseministries.org 00:02:23.10\00:02:25.61 there's a number of things we want you to do there. 00:02:25.64\00:02:27.34 If you have a pre-request, 00:02:27.38\00:02:28.71 if you're experiencing back pain, 00:02:28.74\00:02:30.41 we want to hear about it and pray for you. 00:02:30.45\00:02:31.78 So go to our website at heartwiseministries.org 00:02:31.81\00:02:34.92 and ask for prayer there. 00:02:34.95\00:02:36.48 You can also ask the doctor for medical advice 00:02:36.52\00:02:38.75 and we encourage you to do that. 00:02:38.79\00:02:40.42 And we got a list of questions today 00:02:40.46\00:02:41.79 that have come from our viewers 00:02:41.82\00:02:43.16 and the first one is from someone who asks 00:02:43.19\00:02:45.69 what is a kyphoplasty, I don't even know, 00:02:45.73\00:02:48.76 what that is, I never heard of it. 00:02:48.80\00:02:50.13 What is a kyphoplasty? 00:02:50.17\00:02:51.50 I'm gonna sort of make it simple, 00:02:51.53\00:02:52.87 but sometimes as people get older, 00:02:52.90\00:02:54.84 everything in the body gets old at different speeds, 00:02:54.87\00:02:57.41 you know, some people. 00:02:57.44\00:02:58.97 My feet are getting older faster than the rest of me. 00:02:59.01\00:03:01.88 Some people unfortunately it's their brain gets older 00:03:01.91\00:03:04.31 and they have, you know, dementias, 00:03:04.35\00:03:06.48 some people their bones get older, 00:03:06.51\00:03:08.85 and some people, the bones of the back get old 00:03:08.88\00:03:11.59 and if we don't watch it, 00:03:11.62\00:03:13.05 if we don't take care of our back well with nutrition, 00:03:13.09\00:03:16.36 you know, sometimes if you heard 00:03:16.39\00:03:17.76 this term osteoporosis when the bones get old, 00:03:17.79\00:03:21.56 they get weaker. 00:03:21.60\00:03:23.16 In fact then when the bones get old 00:03:23.20\00:03:25.53 sometimes they can crack and they break, 00:03:25.57\00:03:27.84 and if they broken in the back, 00:03:27.87\00:03:29.40 that can be very painful. 00:03:29.44\00:03:31.07 Bone pain is some of the most terrible pain there is Nick, 00:03:31.11\00:03:35.01 it's just terrible pain, and if the spine has bone pains 00:03:35.04\00:03:38.65 because of osteoporosis, if we have a fracture, 00:03:38.68\00:03:42.22 some people, when they get older 00:03:42.25\00:03:43.92 they do get osteoporosis, the bones are weak. 00:03:43.95\00:03:45.72 So, it's just little movements, little trauma, 00:03:45.75\00:03:48.12 that normally they do fine with 00:03:48.16\00:03:49.82 can cause a micro fracture of the spine. 00:03:49.86\00:03:53.40 And if you have a fracture of the spine, 00:03:53.43\00:03:55.23 that's really painful situation. 00:03:55.26\00:03:57.70 Well kyphoplasty okay, is actually a procedure 00:03:57.73\00:04:01.60 where a radiologists or some type of interventions 00:04:01.64\00:04:04.61 will go in and help that fracture 00:04:04.64\00:04:07.48 by pointing sort of like cement, 00:04:07.51\00:04:09.24 like super glow so the bones, sort of, comes together. 00:04:09.28\00:04:12.81 So it's the procedure that can help really compression 00:04:12.85\00:04:15.55 fractures do a lot better. 00:04:15.58\00:04:17.79 But I want people not to have compression fractures 00:04:17.82\00:04:21.42 and I'm gonna ask a question, Nick, who do you, you know, 00:04:21.46\00:04:24.56 fractures that causes pain especially in the spine, 00:04:24.59\00:04:27.50 and I'm what animal you think has the most healthy bones? 00:04:27.53\00:04:31.53 I'm gonna say the elephant. Perfect. 00:04:31.57\00:04:33.74 Elephants have very healthy bones. 00:04:33.77\00:04:36.40 What did elephants do? 00:04:36.44\00:04:37.91 Okay, well elephants, 00:04:37.94\00:04:39.27 they had these big strong tusks, 00:04:39.31\00:04:40.64 they don't have fractures in their back, 00:04:40.68\00:04:42.91 they get out and exercise, they move. 00:04:42.94\00:04:44.75 They move all the time. 00:04:44.78\00:04:46.11 They drink lots of water, okay. 00:04:46.15\00:04:48.48 They eat lots of greens, calcium, and magnesium. 00:04:48.52\00:04:51.45 In fact they eat about 200 pounds of greens a day 00:04:51.49\00:04:54.86 and they get out in the sunshine, 00:04:54.89\00:04:56.89 vitamin D helps the bone, that's a prohormone. 00:04:56.93\00:04:59.19 So, those things keep the bones of the back 00:04:59.23\00:05:02.66 of an elephant well also helps the tusk and other things. 00:05:02.70\00:05:06.13 So, if it's good enough for an elephant 00:05:06.17\00:05:08.34 these are some things that people can do for their back, 00:05:08.37\00:05:11.17 that might prevent them in their lateral years 00:05:11.21\00:05:13.74 from having osteoporosis, and having a micro fracture 00:05:13.78\00:05:17.15 and having the knee for modern medicine 00:05:17.18\00:05:18.91 which could be a kyphoplasty. 00:05:18.95\00:05:20.95 But if you haven't done this, 00:05:20.98\00:05:22.32 and you had these micro fractures 00:05:22.35\00:05:23.79 and it might be genetic a kyphoplasty 00:05:23.82\00:05:26.39 is a place for modern medicine, 00:05:26.42\00:05:27.76 it's can help with chronic pain, 00:05:27.79\00:05:29.29 'cause we don't want chronic pain, 00:05:29.32\00:05:31.09 'cause it makes adrenaline, 00:05:31.13\00:05:32.73 and it makes inflammatory markers in cortisol, 00:05:32.76\00:05:35.00 which raises a chance of us having heart attacks 00:05:35.03\00:05:37.80 and weakens our immune system, 00:05:37.83\00:05:39.43 hurts our brains, effects our entire body. 00:05:39.47\00:05:41.84 So chronic pain is not good either. 00:05:41.87\00:05:43.71 So that's what a kyphoplasty is, big name, 00:05:43.74\00:05:46.84 basically thinking about putting glue, 00:05:46.88\00:05:48.44 glue the back together. 00:05:48.48\00:05:51.25 Super glue for the vertebra, huh? 00:05:51.28\00:05:52.61 Super glue for the vertebra so it doesn't hurt as much. 00:05:52.65\00:05:54.72 And really the procedure has very few risks, 00:05:54.75\00:05:57.29 so it's a good procedure. 00:05:57.32\00:05:58.95 Good, good. 00:05:58.99\00:06:00.32 We've got somebody else writes in, 00:06:00.36\00:06:01.69 "I have had two surgeries on my back 00:06:01.72\00:06:03.63 and now take chronic pain medications, 00:06:03.66\00:06:06.23 how can I get off of these medications?" 00:06:06.26\00:06:08.10 Well, first I want to applaud that person 00:06:08.13\00:06:10.73 for wanting to come off medications. 00:06:10.77\00:06:12.97 And chronic back pain is one of the worst causes 00:06:13.00\00:06:16.14 of chronic pain there is, 00:06:16.17\00:06:17.51 especially they've had couple of operations, 00:06:17.54\00:06:19.71 sometimes the cause might not have been addressed 00:06:19.74\00:06:23.11 whether that be nerve damage or vertebral damage. 00:06:23.14\00:06:27.35 And if that's the case sometimes there's scar tissue 00:06:27.38\00:06:30.45 that forms around the nerves and things hurt a lot. 00:06:30.49\00:06:33.09 But a couple of things you know 00:06:33.12\00:06:34.76 most doctors don't want you to be on narcotics forever. 00:06:34.79\00:06:38.59 And so if you're willing to do it, they say, 00:06:38.63\00:06:40.90 listen maybe you can try some physical therapy, 00:06:40.93\00:06:43.60 maybe there is a device that they put in the back 00:06:43.63\00:06:45.87 called a TENS Unit that's electrical stimuli 00:06:45.90\00:06:49.07 that takes some pain away from the nerves. 00:06:49.10\00:06:51.81 Sometimes it can do things like anti- inflammatories, 00:06:51.84\00:06:54.94 there's an anti-inflammatory that we can actually a cream 00:06:54.98\00:06:58.01 that we can rub on the back 00:06:58.05\00:06:59.65 and it doesn't get into the blood stream, 00:06:59.68\00:07:01.38 which make it less risky. 00:07:01.42\00:07:03.72 There are some foods that have anti-inflammatory properties, 00:07:03.75\00:07:07.02 you know, especially we heard about ginger, 00:07:07.06\00:07:09.46 they might be able to have improve back pain 00:07:09.49\00:07:12.03 by improving their blood vessels 00:07:12.06\00:07:13.86 by getting on a whole food plant based diet 00:07:13.90\00:07:16.87 get some greens which makes nitric oxide, 00:07:16.90\00:07:19.37 which makes our arteries bigger, 00:07:19.40\00:07:20.74 so they get a better blood supply to that area. 00:07:20.77\00:07:22.97 Right, yeah. 00:07:23.00\00:07:24.34 They might do some exercises with the physical therapist 00:07:24.37\00:07:27.08 or chiropractor that might help their back 00:07:27.11\00:07:29.24 and their doctor might be able to taper down some medications. 00:07:29.28\00:07:33.31 And I tell people sometimes 00:07:33.35\00:07:34.68 it's better to have a little pain 00:07:34.72\00:07:36.12 than have no pain and be on too much medication 00:07:36.15\00:07:39.25 'cause all the medicines you have to balance the risk 00:07:39.29\00:07:42.49 versus the benefit. 00:07:42.52\00:07:43.89 I don't know if any medication or procedure 00:07:43.93\00:07:47.13 that doesn't have at least some risk. 00:07:47.16\00:07:49.46 And you have to balance the risk versus the benefit. 00:07:49.50\00:07:51.57 So it sounds like, 00:07:51.60\00:07:53.00 if we do things like the elephant, 00:07:53.03\00:07:54.87 get some light, eat foods 00:07:54.90\00:07:57.41 that don't increase inflammation, 00:07:57.44\00:07:59.11 these are lot of things that are found 00:07:59.14\00:08:00.48 in God's original design for our lives, right? 00:08:00.51\00:08:02.81 Yup, and guess what, more people than ever 00:08:02.84\00:08:05.41 are sitting at computer desks, 00:08:05.45\00:08:07.25 more people that ever have these cell phones 00:08:07.28\00:08:09.12 and are doing this. 00:08:09.15\00:08:10.59 And they're bending over, and as they put strain 00:08:10.62\00:08:12.99 on their spinal cord 00:08:13.02\00:08:14.52 and on the muscles of their back, 00:08:14.56\00:08:15.89 they're gonna have chronic back pain. 00:08:15.92\00:08:18.19 And then if they don't deal with it so much better 00:08:18.23\00:08:20.83 to nip it in the bud and not let it progress. 00:08:20.86\00:08:24.17 But I see our society doesn't do things 00:08:24.20\00:08:26.40 that promote back health. 00:08:26.43\00:08:28.10 So we're gonna have more problems 00:08:28.14\00:08:29.57 and that's why it's so important 00:08:29.60\00:08:31.01 to educate on prevention 00:08:31.04\00:08:32.54 as well as what to do in emergency. 00:08:32.57\00:08:34.51 Right, we got someone else who wrote in and asks, 00:08:34.54\00:08:37.25 "Is there a difference between Oxycodone and Fentanyl?" 00:08:37.28\00:08:40.28 Yeah, those are both narcotic pain medications. 00:08:40.32\00:08:43.28 Okay. 00:08:43.32\00:08:44.85 And those are used for extreme pain, 00:08:44.89\00:08:47.69 and both of them have 00:08:47.72\00:08:49.06 their very effective in taking away pain. 00:08:49.09\00:08:51.89 Fentanyl was one that can come in a patch, 00:08:51.93\00:08:54.46 so you don't necessarily have to swallow it, 00:08:54.50\00:08:57.07 Oxycodone is a pill. 00:08:57.10\00:08:58.43 But they're both very strong narcotic pain medications. 00:08:58.47\00:09:02.07 And if you are on those, 00:09:02.10\00:09:03.54 hopefully your doctors talk to you 00:09:03.57\00:09:05.34 about how to take them correctly 00:09:05.37\00:09:07.24 about the risk and benefits. 00:09:07.28\00:09:08.84 But these are very strong pain medicines. 00:09:08.88\00:09:11.11 We frequently see them used in people with bone pains, 00:09:11.15\00:09:14.92 people with advanced cancers, 00:09:14.95\00:09:17.29 people with pain that we can't do anything with. 00:09:17.32\00:09:19.95 And in that case, sometimes these narcotics, 00:09:19.99\00:09:22.72 the benefits are worth the risk. 00:09:22.76\00:09:24.56 Yeah. 00:09:24.59\00:09:25.93 Because sometimes the pain is so bad 00:09:25.96\00:09:27.50 and the stress from the pain is so bad 00:09:27.53\00:09:29.66 and damaging to the body 00:09:29.70\00:09:31.03 that is worth taking the risk with these pain medicines. 00:09:31.07\00:09:33.03 Right. 00:09:33.07\00:09:34.40 So there's some people that benefit from them. 00:09:34.44\00:09:35.84 Now there are other new classes of the medicines, 00:09:35.87\00:09:38.64 I don't know if you heard for chronic cancer pain 00:09:38.67\00:09:41.38 some people around the world are using marijuana now, 00:09:41.41\00:09:44.38 some people are using other deep breathing techniques. 00:09:44.41\00:09:47.12 So there's other ways to look at it 00:09:47.15\00:09:49.48 and you have to talk to your provider 00:09:49.52\00:09:51.25 and who knows your whole medical history 00:09:51.29\00:09:53.52 and they will decide 00:09:53.56\00:09:54.89 what is the best regiment for you 00:09:54.92\00:09:57.66 and if the risk is worth the benefits of each of these 00:09:57.69\00:10:00.10 powerful pain pills. 00:10:00.13\00:10:01.46 Yeah. 00:10:01.50\00:10:02.83 You know we have somebody else write in and ask 00:10:02.86\00:10:04.20 about the side effects. 00:10:04.23\00:10:05.57 "What are the side effects of these narcotic medications?" 00:10:05.60\00:10:07.44 Yeah, and there are many. 00:10:07.47\00:10:09.04 Okay, I had someone come to me 00:10:09.07\00:10:11.47 that's been on some narcotics for a long period of time 00:10:11.51\00:10:14.28 and now he's having bowel problems, 00:10:14.31\00:10:16.75 the bowel slow down the bacterial floor 00:10:16.78\00:10:19.31 has changed, he subject to more infections 00:10:19.35\00:10:22.28 like diverticulitis, the bowels can slow, 00:10:22.32\00:10:25.59 you can just get a small bowel obstruction 00:10:25.62\00:10:27.49 it can depress your respiratory system, 00:10:27.52\00:10:30.69 okay, so you don't breathe as well, 00:10:30.73\00:10:32.59 some people that are on really, really high doses, 00:10:32.63\00:10:35.03 can actually quit breathing. 00:10:35.06\00:10:36.87 It effects your brain Nick, 00:10:36.90\00:10:38.33 Narcotics effect the way you think 00:10:38.37\00:10:40.30 and everyone that's been on narcotics, 00:10:40.34\00:10:42.54 you know, even if they're just done little bit 00:10:42.57\00:10:44.04 it does affect the way you think. 00:10:44.07\00:10:45.74 And mix and match and it can effect, 00:10:45.77\00:10:47.44 it lowers your blood pressure, it slows your heart rate down, 00:10:47.48\00:10:50.71 it slows that and sometimes 00:10:50.75\00:10:52.41 another thing about narcotics is 00:10:52.45\00:10:54.45 if you have pain from another source, 00:10:54.48\00:10:56.58 that you need to recognize, 00:10:56.62\00:10:58.05 all the sudden you say, I don't recognize it, 00:10:58.09\00:11:00.26 because you're on pain medicines. 00:11:00.29\00:11:01.62 Covered up. 00:11:01.66\00:11:02.99 Yeah, like, if you're on so much pain medicine, 00:11:03.02\00:11:04.36 guess what, you have a heart attack 00:11:04.39\00:11:05.73 and you might not notice it as much, 00:11:05.76\00:11:07.10 'cause you're on so much chronic back pain medicine. 00:11:07.13\00:11:09.60 So that's another thing that's a risk, 00:11:09.63\00:11:11.77 but these medicines have risk, I'm not saying 00:11:11.80\00:11:13.47 that they never should be used. 00:11:13.50\00:11:15.67 But we should be smart about and if we can get it the cause, 00:11:15.70\00:11:19.24 and use less of that 00:11:19.27\00:11:20.61 and if there is other modalities natural remedies, 00:11:20.64\00:11:23.38 different diets, we can induce to use as little as possible 00:11:23.41\00:11:26.92 that I think is gonna be the best plan. 00:11:26.95\00:11:29.22 And as you know what, 00:11:29.25\00:11:30.59 there are a lot of people out there 00:11:30.62\00:11:31.95 that are in chronic pain. 00:11:31.99\00:11:33.32 That their pains never gonna go away 00:11:33.36\00:11:34.92 and that they do need to take these medicines 00:11:34.96\00:11:37.16 and that's why I'm so glad that we can have a healer, 00:11:37.19\00:11:41.26 we can have a relationship with Christ 00:11:41.30\00:11:43.10 who will bring us to healing in our lives. 00:11:43.13\00:11:45.53 So we always have that hope 00:11:45.57\00:11:46.90 that no matter how bad our pain is, 00:11:46.94\00:11:48.50 no matter how bad our suffering is, 00:11:48.54\00:11:50.54 that some day that will be better. 00:11:50.57\00:11:52.81 In fact, you know, 00:11:52.84\00:11:54.58 I think of the study in the Bible about Stephen, 00:11:54.61\00:11:57.08 remember him? 00:11:57.11\00:11:58.45 Okay, at the end of his life they were stoning him, 00:11:58.48\00:12:00.98 and I don't think he was feeling a lot of pain, 00:12:01.02\00:12:03.99 because his worship was so good, okay, 00:12:04.02\00:12:06.82 he up shifted his brain 00:12:06.86\00:12:08.19 turned down some of those inflammatory stress mediators 00:12:08.22\00:12:11.09 triggers of pain, 00:12:11.13\00:12:12.46 so I definitely think everyone in chronic pain 00:12:12.49\00:12:15.20 needs to be on a good worship regiment. 00:12:15.23\00:12:18.10 And I think I can make an argument 00:12:18.13\00:12:19.73 that worship is a great treatment 00:12:19.77\00:12:21.84 for chronic pain. 00:12:21.87\00:12:23.20 whether that worship be enviable study and prayer 00:12:23.24\00:12:25.97 by singing and praising God, by serving other people, 00:12:26.01\00:12:29.34 there's many ways to worship. 00:12:29.38\00:12:30.71 But I think worship should be 00:12:30.75\00:12:32.58 a treatment of every chronic pain, 00:12:32.61\00:12:34.58 especially back pain regiment. 00:12:34.62\00:12:36.12 Yeah. 00:12:36.15\00:12:37.49 Now if people want to learn more about that idea of worship 00:12:37.52\00:12:40.66 and maybe nutrition, 00:12:40.69\00:12:42.52 and other things that are from the Bible. 00:12:42.56\00:12:44.93 What's your thoughts on that? 00:12:44.96\00:12:46.39 I know you have new program called Biblical Prescription. 00:12:46.43\00:12:47.76 Yeah, we had just finished Heart Wise Ministries, 00:12:47.80\00:12:50.57 a new seven week Bible study program 00:12:50.60\00:12:53.57 called Biblical Prescriptions for Life. 00:12:53.60\00:12:56.64 And what we do is we take the biblical prescription, 00:12:56.67\00:12:59.71 we find the science behind it, 00:12:59.74\00:13:01.81 and teach people how to apply it to their lives 00:13:01.84\00:13:04.41 one step at a time. 00:13:04.45\00:13:06.31 And a biblical prescription of life 00:13:06.35\00:13:08.68 will help every chronic pain, 00:13:08.72\00:13:10.65 you know no matter where it's from the body, 00:13:10.69\00:13:12.02 because it treats every cell, it improves every cell. 00:13:12.05\00:13:15.29 And we talk in that series about how to drink water, 00:13:15.32\00:13:18.36 and then we focus on living water. 00:13:18.39\00:13:20.10 But the exciting thing is at the end, 00:13:20.13\00:13:21.73 we show the physiology of worship. 00:13:21.76\00:13:24.23 How worship independent of anything else 00:13:24.27\00:13:26.70 changes the brain, turns down inflammation, 00:13:26.74\00:13:30.21 turns down adrenaline, and things that cause pain 00:13:30.24\00:13:32.81 and help create us a new mind 00:13:32.84\00:13:34.61 which can retrain neuron- pathways, 00:13:34.64\00:13:36.64 that maybe deal with pain better. 00:13:36.68\00:13:38.58 So I think it's a great series 00:13:38.61\00:13:40.45 for people that have pain in the back, 00:13:40.48\00:13:42.35 that have pain anywhere. 00:13:42.38\00:13:43.72 Now acute pain in the chest, 00:13:43.75\00:13:45.25 we know we get the help right way, 00:13:45.29\00:13:46.76 then we fall back but chronic back pain, 00:13:46.79\00:13:48.96 for chronic anything pain, 00:13:48.99\00:13:50.33 this is another treatment regiment 00:13:50.36\00:13:52.16 that I think is very valuable. 00:13:52.19\00:13:53.53 Yeah. 00:13:53.56\00:13:54.90 Doing these lifestyle changes 00:13:54.93\00:13:56.26 and doing them not just for ourselves, 00:13:56.30\00:13:58.30 if we're doing them, 00:13:58.33\00:13:59.67 because this is the way that God designed us to live 00:13:59.70\00:14:01.10 and we want to honor him, 00:14:01.14\00:14:02.47 that's the best path to heal, anyway. 00:14:02.50\00:14:04.67 Yeah, and I think, you know, yes it is the best path, 00:14:04.71\00:14:07.24 and getting back to original design, moving, 00:14:07.28\00:14:09.48 if we do have back pain, 00:14:09.51\00:14:10.85 get it treated right away, get it evaluated, 00:14:10.88\00:14:12.71 if you need special testing, do that, 00:14:12.75\00:14:15.15 and if we do that early on 00:14:15.18\00:14:16.52 we might save ourselves some grief down the road, 00:14:16.55\00:14:19.02 I think it's very important. 00:14:19.05\00:14:20.39 Well, Dr. Marcum, thank you for sharing. 00:14:20.42\00:14:21.76 My pleasure. 00:14:21.79\00:14:23.12 If you have 00:14:55.72\00:14:57.73 Father God, we want to pray for all those that are in pain, 00:14:57.76\00:15:00.20 whether it'd be the back pain or anywhere else 00:15:00.23\00:15:02.26 that you'd be close to them 00:15:02.30\00:15:04.10 and enhance their worship Father 00:15:04.13\00:15:06.03 because worship is a treatment for pain. 00:15:06.07\00:15:09.00 Be close to them Father 00:15:09.04\00:15:10.44 and thank you for your promises and for being our friend. 00:15:10.47\00:15:13.61 These things we ask in thy name, Amen. 00:15:13.64\00:15:17.85 Well, if you have more
