Did you know that cardiovascular disease is a 00:00:17.15\00:00:20.02 leading cause of death in America? 00:00:20.05\00:00:22.02 Stay tuned to learn how you can live heart attack free! 00:00:22.05\00:00:25.92 I'm Dr. James Marcum, are you interested in 00:00:26.76\00:00:29.96 discovering the reason why? 00:00:29.99\00:00:31.79 Do you want solutions to your health care problem? 00:00:31.83\00:00:35.03 Are you tired of taking medications? 00:00:35.06\00:00:37.73 Well, you're about to be given "The Ultimate Prescription" 00:00:37.77\00:00:42.60 Every year more people are experiencing heart attack; 00:00:43.91\00:00:48.24 more people are having bypass surgeries, 00:00:48.28\00:00:50.35 and more people are experiencing hypertension. 00:00:50.38\00:00:52.78 Dr. Marcum, why is this occurring? 00:00:52.81\00:00:54.98 Well Nick, that's a very good question, 00:00:55.02\00:00:57.32 and we cannot stop there. 00:00:57.35\00:00:59.45 If you look at the health of the world, 00:00:59.49\00:01:00.86 every year, like you said, more heart attacks, 00:01:00.89\00:01:02.92 more strokes, more people with diabetes, 00:01:02.96\00:01:05.89 more people with obesity, 00:01:05.93\00:01:07.70 more people with mental health illnesses. 00:01:07.73\00:01:10.63 If we look, clearly, something is not right, 00:01:10.67\00:01:13.84 and, unfortunately, our medical system primarily 00:01:13.87\00:01:17.34 treats symptoms and not causes. Correct 00:01:17.37\00:01:20.68 And cardiovascular disease is a disease that we're now 00:01:20.71\00:01:23.85 learning more and more about and I was recently 00:01:23.88\00:01:26.61 up at the "Cleveland Clinic" with my friend, Dr. Esselstyn, 00:01:26.65\00:01:29.92 and he had a group of people there that he was giving 00:01:29.95\00:01:34.32 a special diet to and it was a diet that had basically 00:01:34.36\00:01:38.23 no fat in it and he has followed these patients 00:01:38.26\00:01:41.03 for years and he showed that they can reverse heart disease 00:01:41.06\00:01:44.57 and also become heart attack free. Wow! 00:01:44.60\00:01:47.84 Now, I think it's more than just the food... 00:01:47.87\00:01:50.14 I think the food is a very important component of this, 00:01:50.17\00:01:52.94 but I also think it's the stress that's involved, 00:01:52.97\00:01:56.18 and a few people have bad genetics. 00:01:56.21\00:01:58.65 But there's one or two things that we can do today 00:01:58.68\00:02:01.92 to help everyone out there lower their risk of having 00:02:01.95\00:02:05.02 cardiovascular disease or heart attacks. 00:02:05.05\00:02:07.02 What are a couple of things that we can do? 00:02:07.06\00:02:09.36 Well if you look here, I'm going to show a picture 00:02:09.39\00:02:12.76 of an artery and in this artery, 00:02:12.79\00:02:16.23 this is a really healthy artery here, 00:02:16.26\00:02:18.80 and this group of cells that goes around the artery there 00:02:18.83\00:02:22.47 is called the "endothelium," and the endothelium is 00:02:22.50\00:02:25.81 what regulates the size of the artery, 00:02:25.84\00:02:28.04 makes it bigger or smaller. 00:02:28.08\00:02:29.51 Now, unfortunately, let's go to a person that doesn't have 00:02:29.54\00:02:33.25 a very healthy artery and that's 00:02:33.28\00:02:35.25 what a standard American artery looks like. 00:02:35.28\00:02:38.09 Lots of fat in there, lipids, fat gets in there. 00:02:38.12\00:02:41.16 In fact, if you eat more than 10 to 15% of your total 00:02:41.19\00:02:46.39 food that you eat in fat... fat is stored, 00:02:46.43\00:02:49.10 either in the arteries or around the waist and that's not good. 00:02:49.13\00:02:53.03 Years ago, they looked at the Korean soldiers, 00:02:53.07\00:02:56.71 and they noticed that almost all of them had significant 00:02:56.74\00:02:59.41 plaquing in their body and these fellows were just in their 20s. 00:02:59.44\00:03:03.21 So we've discovered that about 90% of heart disease 00:03:03.24\00:03:07.65 is related to the food we eat. Sure 00:03:07.68\00:03:09.98 We eat too much fat... 00:03:10.02\00:03:11.35 The fat has to be stored somewhere. 00:03:11.39\00:03:13.09 It damages this vessel called the "endothelium." 00:03:13.12\00:03:16.46 A doctor named, Dr. Vogel, a few years ago, did a study 00:03:16.49\00:03:20.50 and he looked at the brachial artery, 00:03:20.53\00:03:22.16 that's the artery that's in the arm, 00:03:22.20\00:03:23.70 and he fed these young fellows a high-fat, fast food diet... 00:03:23.73\00:03:29.87 And he found out that when he fed them this diet, 00:03:29.90\00:03:32.47 the artery could not get bigger. Really? 00:03:32.51\00:03:34.81 It could not get bigger and they hypothesized 00:03:34.84\00:03:37.55 that there's something in fat that made a chemical called 00:03:37.58\00:03:40.65 "nitric oxide" go down. 00:03:40.68\00:03:43.02 And nitric oxide is a chemical that makes the arteries bigger. 00:03:43.05\00:03:46.72 So one of the things in cardiovascular disease... 00:03:46.76\00:03:48.86 we have determined fat is our enemy. 00:03:48.89\00:03:51.93 Now, in modern medicine, 00:03:51.96\00:03:53.29 if someone is having a symptom, Nick, 00:03:53.33\00:03:54.73 I'd send them for a heart attack, you know, 00:03:54.76\00:03:56.20 if you're having a heart attack, 00:03:56.23\00:03:57.57 I'd want to have a stent in. A stent - okay. 00:03:57.60\00:03:59.60 Yeah, if you're having a lot of pain when you walk, 00:03:59.63\00:04:01.60 and it's from your heart, I'd want you to have a bypass, 00:04:01.64\00:04:04.24 give them extra blood, but it doesn't fix the problem, 00:04:04.27\00:04:07.94 it treats the symptom. Right 00:04:07.98\00:04:10.58 But we want to get at the cause of the problem... 00:04:10.61\00:04:12.38 One of the causes is too much fat in the diet. 00:04:12.41\00:04:15.52 So simply, what people can do one step at a time is 00:04:15.55\00:04:18.59 try to remove fat from their diet. 00:04:18.62\00:04:21.12 Now that's not so easy is it? 00:04:21.16\00:04:22.89 No, it's really not... in fact, it's quite difficult, 00:04:22.92\00:04:25.19 particularly if you eat out of restaurants, 00:04:25.23\00:04:27.46 and you're not preparing your own food. 00:04:27.50\00:04:29.03 Right, so I think the first thing that I want everyone 00:04:29.06\00:04:31.30 to know is to be aware that you can be your own 00:04:31.33\00:04:33.64 best doctor when you get fat out of the diet... 00:04:33.67\00:04:35.87 because when you get fat out of the diet, 00:04:35.90\00:04:37.61 the nitric oxide levels go up. 00:04:37.64\00:04:40.74 And guess what, the arteries get bigger, 00:04:40.78\00:04:43.11 and if you eat well enough, Dr. Esselstyn, in his study 00:04:43.14\00:04:46.35 that was published just recently, 00:04:46.38\00:04:48.58 has shown that you can actually, in many cases, 00:04:48.62\00:04:51.05 reverse disease. 00:04:51.09\00:04:52.42 Take the plaque and fat out of the arteries. 00:04:52.45\00:04:54.96 It's pretty amazing research, and if we think back 00:04:54.99\00:04:58.59 through the years, there's a famous Dr. Hippocrates 00:04:58.63\00:05:02.43 that says, "Let food be thy medicine, 00:05:02.46\00:05:04.93 and medicine be thy food." 00:05:04.97\00:05:06.84 And it only makes sense that as we eat better, 00:05:06.87\00:05:09.50 it changes the chemistry of the entire body. 00:05:09.54\00:05:11.44 It's like putting the appropriate gas 00:05:11.47\00:05:13.17 in the machine. That's right! 00:05:13.21\00:05:14.54 We weren't made to rely on fat. 00:05:14.58\00:05:17.08 Fat was sort of an emergency storage fuel. 00:05:17.11\00:05:19.61 So the more fat we eat now, we get it stored. 00:05:19.65\00:05:21.98 Now 200 years ago, Nick, we used to exercise 00:05:22.02\00:05:24.62 and burn a lot of fat off, but nowadays, 00:05:24.65\00:05:26.89 we just sit around, we don't do anything. 00:05:26.92\00:05:28.69 We take large amounts of food in fat, 00:05:28.72\00:05:31.46 and it gets stored in our arteries. 00:05:31.49\00:05:33.16 Now Dr. Esselstyn, in his book "Reversing Heart Disease," 00:05:33.19\00:05:36.30 has suggested that we have... virtually if you have 00:05:36.33\00:05:39.63 active disease, zero fat in the diet. 00:05:39.67\00:05:42.34 And he has showed that people can be healthy 00:05:42.37\00:05:44.57 by eliminating fat. 00:05:44.61\00:05:45.94 Most people cannot do that, and I still think that 00:05:45.97\00:05:48.68 if you eat fats from plants, 00:05:48.71\00:05:51.48 that's actually very good for you. 00:05:51.51\00:05:53.01 I was just going ask... what types of fats 00:05:53.05\00:05:55.32 are good for you, what are healthy? 00:05:55.35\00:05:57.25 Well if you have active disease, if you're having 00:05:57.29\00:05:59.42 lots of chest pain, heart attacks. 00:05:59.45\00:06:01.62 I try to get zero fat. Okay 00:06:01.66\00:06:04.73 Now if you just want to stay, 00:06:04.76\00:06:06.36 if you're not having active symptoms, 00:06:06.39\00:06:07.90 I let people eat... I recommend that they eat 00:06:07.93\00:06:10.87 any fat that's not from animals, so from plants. Right 00:06:10.90\00:06:17.04 What are some examples? 00:06:17.07\00:06:19.01 Coconuts, almonds, walnuts, soy has fat in it. 00:06:19.04\00:06:24.25 In fact, even a potato has some amount of fat. 00:06:24.28\00:06:27.22 And if you look at a potato, for instance, 00:06:27.25\00:06:29.55 a potato is about 80% carbohydrates, 00:06:29.58\00:06:32.02 10% protein, 10% fat and that's what the nutrient composition 00:06:32.05\00:06:38.13 that people that are like Peruvians, 00:06:38.19\00:06:40.50 you know, they were people of potatoes. 00:06:40.53\00:06:42.90 You know, they eat lots of potatoes. 00:06:42.93\00:06:44.37 If you think about the Aztecs, they were people of corn, 00:06:44.40\00:06:47.70 and predominantly in corn, it's about 80% carbs, 00:06:47.74\00:06:52.44 10% fat, 10% protein. 00:06:52.47\00:06:55.14 If you think about the people that live in China... 00:06:55.18\00:06:57.41 they like to eat lots of rice. 00:06:57.45\00:06:59.75 Rice is predominantly carbohydrates, 00:06:59.78\00:07:02.55 not much protein, not much fat. Right 00:07:02.58\00:07:05.35 But as the eating of the world has changed, guess what? 00:07:05.39\00:07:09.09 We've acquired more disease because we eat things... 00:07:09.12\00:07:12.09 we mess up this composition that our body is made to handle. 00:07:12.13\00:07:15.33 So why do you think that's been the case in North America, 00:07:15.36\00:07:17.43 we don't eat a diet similar to what you just described, 00:07:17.47\00:07:20.27 why has the change occurred? 00:07:20.30\00:07:21.77 Well, if you look at it, a lot of change happened when 00:07:21.80\00:07:24.57 we - the modern industrial revolution moved in. 00:07:24.61\00:07:27.64 People moved away from the farms into the cities. 00:07:27.68\00:07:31.18 When they moved into the cities, guess what? 00:07:31.21\00:07:33.98 They wanted to have things that were convenient. 00:07:34.02\00:07:36.15 Then all of a sudden things became packaged; 00:07:36.18\00:07:38.62 animals became a big staple of food; 00:07:38.65\00:07:41.56 people began to eat less of the real foods. 00:07:41.59\00:07:45.09 And then the marketing got involved, 00:07:45.13\00:07:47.33 and you know, people market fast food. 00:07:47.36\00:07:49.30 They market these types of animal-based foods. 00:07:49.33\00:07:52.27 And through the years, we've seen more and more 00:07:52.30\00:07:53.87 people eat it and we haven't had alternatives, 00:07:53.90\00:07:56.71 and people have not thought about it. 00:07:56.74\00:07:58.17 But the way we eat, Nick, is not sustainable. 00:07:58.21\00:08:01.44 The reason it's not sustainable is because so many people 00:08:01.48\00:08:04.51 right now are getting diseases from the food they eat. 00:08:04.55\00:08:07.82 That's not a very healthy thing at all. Not at all... 00:08:07.85\00:08:10.49 So in talking about heart disease, 00:08:10.52\00:08:13.15 now a lot of people say, "I can't do this." 00:08:13.19\00:08:15.12 "I can't do this all at once because 00:08:15.16\00:08:17.36 we grew up eating this way." 00:08:17.39\00:08:20.66 So what I tell people is try to make one step at a time, 00:08:20.70\00:08:23.67 and we found out that one of the best foods for the body 00:08:23.70\00:08:26.50 is GREENS! Right 00:08:26.53\00:08:28.17 So greens, when people eat greens it increases a chemical 00:08:28.20\00:08:31.37 called, "nitric oxide." 00:08:31.41\00:08:33.51 It makes the arteries bigger. 00:08:33.54\00:08:34.98 Another thing that greens do, you know, green is chlorophyll, 00:08:35.01\00:08:37.55 because it's green. Sure 00:08:37.58\00:08:38.91 Chlorophyll helps absorb toxins, it has magnesium, 00:08:38.95\00:08:42.02 it helps the bowels work quicker - so you don't absorb 00:08:42.05\00:08:45.15 as many as the bad things. 00:08:45.19\00:08:46.62 So I tell all my heart patients, "Try to eat more greens." 00:08:46.65\00:08:50.69 Kale, spinach, arugula, anything that's green can help, 00:08:50.73\00:08:55.80 and the fresher, the better. Sure 00:08:55.83\00:08:57.67 And if you start eating greens and fill up with that, 00:08:57.70\00:09:00.07 maybe you won't eat as much of the fatty foods 00:09:00.10\00:09:02.27 which trigger disease to come on. 00:09:02.30\00:09:04.41 But, when people start doing this and they realize that 00:09:04.44\00:09:06.84 they can change the chemistry of the body; 00:09:06.88\00:09:08.88 they can change the endothelium from the food they eat. 00:09:08.91\00:09:11.88 Now if you want to learn more, 00:09:11.91\00:09:13.35 there's lot of material out there... 00:09:13.38\00:09:15.15 "The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine," 00:09:15.18\00:09:17.89 pcrm.org if you go to the website by Dr. Esselstyn, 00:09:17.92\00:09:23.93 also the website by Dr. T. Colin Campbell... 00:09:23.96\00:09:27.63 All of these have suggestions that you can start changing 00:09:27.66\00:09:30.47 your diet and thus, taking the disease out of the arteries 00:09:30.50\00:09:34.20 and Dr. Esselstyn, if you can get on his program, 00:09:34.24\00:09:36.94 he can almost guarantee you, you'll make yourself 00:09:36.97\00:09:39.57 heart attack free. 00:09:39.61\00:09:40.98 So one of the best things we can do to help reduce our chance of 00:09:41.01\00:09:44.18 cardiovascular disease, it's put the right 00:09:44.21\00:09:46.08 fuel in our bodies. 00:09:46.11\00:09:47.45 Yes and get fat out of the body, and of course, 00:09:47.48\00:09:50.02 we want to do other things that help the 00:09:50.05\00:09:51.59 cardiovascular system. 00:09:51.62\00:09:53.09 Basically the things that help our arteries are things that 00:09:53.12\00:09:56.09 lower chronic stress. 00:09:56.12\00:09:58.03 We don't want the stress of sitting too many hours. 00:09:58.06\00:10:00.66 We don't want the stress of being dehydrated. 00:10:00.70\00:10:03.67 Also, we don't want mental stress on the body. 00:10:03.70\00:10:06.50 So any type of the stress makes these chemicals 00:10:06.53\00:10:08.84 adrenalin, cortisol which gradually damaged the 00:10:08.87\00:10:12.47 lining of the blood vessel which raises a chance of 00:10:12.51\00:10:15.11 us having cardiovascular disease. 00:10:15.14\00:10:16.78 Now in some countries, they never had heart attacks at all. 00:10:16.81\00:10:20.65 For instance, there are some in the New Guinea highlanders. 00:10:20.68\00:10:23.05 They eat, pretty much, sweet potatoes. 00:10:23.08\00:10:25.19 They don't have heart attacks. 00:10:25.22\00:10:26.55 People in countries like Uganda, where they eat, 00:10:26.59\00:10:29.06 really all they eat is carbohydrates. 00:10:29.09\00:10:31.66 They don't eat fat, they don't have these problems. 00:10:31.69\00:10:34.13 In rural China, we didn't have this problem. 00:10:34.16\00:10:36.80 We also have noted that as parts of the world become 00:10:36.83\00:10:39.33 Westernized, eating more fat, guess what they get? 00:10:39.37\00:10:42.84 They have more cardiovascular disease. 00:10:42.87\00:10:45.24 And guess what, sooner or later, they have a symptom; 00:10:45.27\00:10:48.11 they have to go to the hospital; they have to get a stent; 00:10:48.14\00:10:50.35 they have to have a bypass... 00:10:50.38\00:10:51.71 That's nice and that's a place for that, 00:10:51.75\00:10:54.48 but that doesn't solve the problem. 00:10:54.52\00:10:56.65 Doesn't get at the root of the problem. 00:10:56.69\00:10:58.22 We're just treating the symptoms and if we can get at the 00:10:58.25\00:11:00.72 cause of the problem, we can get at cardiovascular disease. 00:11:00.76\00:11:04.16 Now we've had several questions 00:11:04.19\00:11:06.36 that have come in to our website, 00:11:06.39\00:11:08.10 the heartwiseministries.org site, 00:11:08.13\00:11:10.20 but before we go there, you know, we're working on 00:11:10.23\00:11:12.43 helping everyone with a first aid kit. 00:11:12.47\00:11:14.80 That's right and, you know, first aid is something 00:11:14.84\00:11:16.87 that's important - you want to be 00:11:16.91\00:11:18.34 prepared to serve other people 00:11:18.37\00:11:19.94 when they have a need. Right 00:11:19.97\00:11:21.44 So what are we going to talk about 00:11:22.28\00:11:23.61 out of the first aid kit today. 00:11:23.65\00:11:24.98 What I have today, this is called an "EpiPen," 00:11:25.01\00:11:26.35 right here, this is an EpiPen, this has epinephrine in it, 00:11:26.38\00:11:29.75 and this might be a good thing for people to put in their kit 00:11:29.78\00:11:33.19 because of the fact that a lot of people have allergies 00:11:33.25\00:11:37.13 to peanuts - if you have what we call an 00:11:37.16\00:11:39.36 "anaphylactic reaction" the whole cardiovascular 00:11:39.39\00:11:42.20 system shuts down. 00:11:42.23\00:11:43.60 So this is specifically used for people that have 00:11:43.63\00:11:46.03 lots of allergies. 00:11:46.07\00:11:47.80 I've used it for other things in my history before 00:11:47.84\00:11:50.61 in people that have severe shock. 00:11:50.64\00:11:51.97 Now I wouldn't advise you to do that, 00:11:52.01\00:11:53.61 but mainly it's for people with allergies, peanut allergies, 00:11:53.64\00:11:56.75 a child that gets what we call an "anaphylactic-type reaction." 00:11:56.78\00:12:01.18 And the way this is used, Nick, I'm going to let you do that... 00:12:01.22\00:12:04.65 What you do here is - here are the real examples of it here... 00:12:04.69\00:12:09.12 This is a training module that we can do and it has 00:12:09.16\00:12:13.60 instructions... it says, "Pull off the blue safety release." 00:12:13.63\00:12:16.77 So, you would have that and this one has it too... 00:12:16.80\00:12:18.83 So we pull that off like that and the next thing we do 00:12:18.87\00:12:23.84 is swing firmly and push orange against the outer thigh." 00:12:23.87\00:12:29.48 So you would want to actually 00:12:29.51\00:12:30.98 push this against your outer thigh 00:12:31.01\00:12:33.82 and then you would hold it tight for 10 seconds. 00:12:33.85\00:12:36.58 Now I'm going to pretend this is my thigh. 00:12:36.62\00:12:38.69 Why don't you do it and you need to push it there 00:12:38.72\00:12:40.49 and hold it for 10 seconds. 00:12:40.52\00:12:41.86 Go ahead and push it against your arm 00:12:41.89\00:12:43.46 and hold it for 10 seconds. Push it into my thigh... 00:12:43.49\00:12:45.33 And hold - did you hear it click? 00:12:45.36\00:12:47.10 1- 2- 3- 4- 5, the medicine is going in... 00:12:47.13\00:12:51.93 6- 7- 8- 9- 10... and at that time you're delivering 00:12:51.97\00:12:56.84 adrenalin or epinephrine and that's going to support the 00:12:56.87\00:13:00.31 cardiovascular system and help prevent 00:13:00.34\00:13:02.81 an anaphylactic reaction. 00:13:02.84\00:13:04.65 And you've heard of peanut allergies... 00:13:04.68\00:13:06.51 You've heard of a lot of people being allergic 00:13:06.55\00:13:08.35 to certain things, bees, wasps. 00:13:08.38\00:13:11.19 These are things and this is called an "EpiPen." 00:13:11.22\00:13:13.56 Now, it requires a prescription from your doctor. 00:13:13.59\00:13:16.26 So not anybody can buy this? Not anyone... 00:13:16.29\00:13:17.83 But this might be something good for someone that had kids 00:13:17.86\00:13:21.16 or people that had allergies to bees or insects 00:13:21.20\00:13:24.83 that they would want in their supply. 00:13:24.87\00:13:27.47 Now I had one person that I knew once that had 00:13:27.50\00:13:29.57 such a bad reaction to poison ivy... 00:13:29.60\00:13:34.14 They would almost get anaphylactic, 00:13:34.18\00:13:35.94 and they had to require one of these because what happens 00:13:35.98\00:13:38.35 is they have this extreme systemic reaction; 00:13:38.38\00:13:41.25 a lot of stress chemicals go on because the body is trying to 00:13:41.28\00:13:44.25 fight off this foreign object and the whole 00:13:44.29\00:13:47.42 cardiovascular system collapses; the blood pressure goes down; 00:13:47.46\00:13:50.56 the heart rate goes down; they have this terrible reaction 00:13:50.59\00:13:54.03 and this helps negate that reaction, 00:13:54.06\00:13:56.83 and supports the cardiovascular system. 00:13:56.87\00:13:58.90 Adrenalin is a stress chemical. 00:13:58.93\00:14:00.84 It raises the blood pressure, it constricts the arteries, 00:14:00.87\00:14:03.81 it keeps the blood pressure off 00:14:03.84\00:14:05.47 so people can fight off this bad reaction that they get 00:14:05.51\00:14:08.54 from whatever that offending agent was. 00:14:08.58\00:14:10.85 We see a lot of it with peanuts, a lot of it with bees. 00:14:10.88\00:14:13.55 Those are probably the most common types. 00:14:13.58\00:14:15.22 Now can this be dangerous if it's not used at the 00:14:15.25\00:14:17.59 appropriate time and in the correct person? 00:14:17.62\00:14:19.05 Anything that's not used correctly can be dangerous. 00:14:19.09\00:14:21.49 So yes, if you're just giving it for fun, 00:14:21.52\00:14:24.19 this can be very dangerous because this is adrenalin. Right 00:14:24.23\00:14:26.96 And you wouldn't want to give it to someone unless certain. 00:14:27.00\00:14:29.30 but it's mainly used for people that are having 00:14:29.33\00:14:31.53 anaphylactic reactions, peanut allergies, bee allergy, 00:14:31.57\00:14:35.47 an insect allergy - these people are extremely ill. 00:14:35.50\00:14:39.71 I've seen it used a few times in people that have severe asthma. 00:14:39.74\00:14:43.45 They get an anaphylactic reaction, 00:14:43.48\00:14:45.48 something triggers severe asthma. 00:14:45.51\00:14:47.22 This is in a life-saving situation. 00:14:47.25\00:14:51.09 So then after - say I'm allergic to peanuts and I 00:14:51.12\00:14:53.49 accidentally ingest some peanuts, 00:14:53.52\00:14:54.86 we've administered the EpiPen, what should we do next? 00:14:54.89\00:14:57.06 Well, I would head to the emergency room. Okay 00:14:57.09\00:15:00.00 That would be the next place or get chronic care for this 00:15:00.03\00:15:03.13 in case - you know, this buys you time. That's right 00:15:03.16\00:15:05.57 It doesn't necessarily fix the problem, 00:15:05.60\00:15:07.40 hopefully it will get you over the hump. 00:15:07.44\00:15:09.77 Okay, well I think that's a great piece to have 00:15:09.80\00:15:11.97 in your first aid kit. Yes, another piece to add. 00:15:12.01\00:15:13.98 And if you're allergic to something - peanuts, 00:15:14.01\00:15:15.88 or if your kids are allergic to something, 00:15:15.91\00:15:17.25 talk to your doctor and if see if they would recommend 00:15:17.28\00:15:19.31 that you have an EpiPen in your first aid kit. 00:15:19.35\00:15:21.88 We're going to be right back with some questions 00:15:21.92\00:15:23.62 from our website and Dr. Marcum is going to 00:15:23.65\00:15:25.95 tell us more about how we can avoid cardiovascular disease. 00:15:25.99\00:15:28.82 We'll be back in just a moment... 00:15:28.86\00:15:30.19
