Okay. 00:03:19.30\00:03:22.93 But here is a person asking question 00:03:22.94\00:03:24.71 about that very thing. 00:03:24.72\00:03:25.98 "I enjoy fish." This is Buddy and Mane. 00:03:25.99\00:03:28.70 Okay, Mane. "I enjoy fish. 00:03:28.71\00:03:30.91 Is there a real mercury risk in fish? 00:03:30.92\00:03:35.18 And then I want to add also, 00:03:35.19\00:03:36.68 is it then okay for us to eat farm grown fish?" 00:03:36.69\00:03:40.22 Yeah, and you know, this one buddy, 00:03:40.23\00:03:43.01 is a good better best one, okay. 00:03:43.02\00:03:45.81 We do know that mercury is in fish. 00:03:45.82\00:03:49.13 And there is this property called bioamplification, 00:03:49.14\00:03:53.04 where not only mercury but other chemicals 00:03:53.05\00:03:55.31 are amplified as it moves up to food chain 00:03:55.32\00:03:58.60 For instance a fish eats this animal that eats this animal 00:03:58.61\00:04:01.51 that eats this animal. 00:04:01.52\00:04:02.87 Well, way down to food chains it's not very amplified. 00:04:02.88\00:04:05.89 But it gets amplified up to food chains 00:04:05.90\00:04:07.87 the actual concentrations are actually very high in a fish. 00:04:07.88\00:04:10.88 Okay, all right. My uncle had this last year. 00:07:07.14\00:07:10.68 This is Jillian, Minnesota. 00:07:10.69\00:07:12.45 Yeah, Jill, this has nothing to do really with the birds 00:07:12.46\00:07:15.97 singing that we talked about early. 00:07:15.98\00:07:18.08 This is a disease that's passed on from birds 00:07:18.09\00:07:21.32 and it passes to humans. 00:07:21.33\00:07:23.06 And what I really want to let you know 00:07:23.07\00:07:24.85 is that we do contract diseases from animals. 00:07:24.86\00:07:28.29 And as we've eaten animals like chickens, 00:07:28.30\00:07:31.35 and you know, mad cow disease for instance, 00:07:31.36\00:07:33.25 you know, you don't get mad cow 00:07:33.26\00:07:34.53 disease unless you eat cows. 00:07:34.54\00:07:36.39 You know, and certain diseases that's passed on by birds. 00:07:36.40\00:07:39.04 You don't get those unless you eat birds. 00:07:39.05\00:07:41.18 So animals do carry diseases and germs 00:07:41.19\00:07:44.03 that can be passed on from person to person 00:07:44.04\00:07:45.98 that can cause problems. 00:07:45.99\00:07:47.77 So if you want, you know, avian flu is an infection 00:07:47.78\00:07:50.32 that's passed on from birds and it's something 00:07:50.33\00:07:52.66 that can be treated and it's something 00:07:52.67\00:07:54.40 that's very hard to diagnose. 00:07:54.41\00:07:56.31 So if you have flu like symptoms 00:07:56.32\00:07:58.33 you might want to see an infectious disease doctor 00:07:58.34\00:08:00.57 who wants to test you for that. 00:08:00.58\00:08:01.99 But almost every infectious 00:08:02.00\00:08:03.21 disease doctor regards the flu, 00:08:03.22\00:08:04.52 they gonna do a detailed history of everything 00:08:04.53\00:08:06.78 you've eaten and been in contact 00:08:06.79\00:08:08.48 with 'cause you gonna pass this viruses 00:08:08.49\00:08:10.57 that are within the animals that are changing. 00:08:10.58\00:08:12.91 That's why, you know, these things like mad cow disease 00:08:12.92\00:08:16.06 and avian flu, you know, people that eat 00:08:16.07\00:08:18.17 a plant-based diet just don't have problems 00:08:18.18\00:08:20.10 with this because they don't bring those things 00:08:20.11\00:08:21.95 into their lives so those viruses 00:08:21.96\00:08:23.57 can't get into their bodies. 00:08:23.58\00:08:24.92 Let's get to the source. 00:08:24.93\00:08:26.34 Let's find out how we can prevent the problem 00:08:26.35\00:08:29.38 not just cover it up. 00:08:29.39\00:08:30.98 This reminds me, Dr. Marcum, of something 00:08:30.99\00:08:33.18 I heard the other day. 00:08:33.19\00:08:34.51 You're saying that if you don't wanna have a avian flu 00:08:34.52\00:08:37.09 then don't eat birds, if you don't wanna have these problem 00:08:37.10\00:08:40.01 don't eat the animals. 00:08:40.02\00:08:42.36 We know that high cholesterol is a problem in this country 00:08:42.37\00:08:44.85 because of our diet and the standard American diet 00:08:44.86\00:08:47.68 is very high and saturated fat et cetera, et cetera. 00:08:47.69\00:08:50.82 So it was discussed. This is actually happening. 00:08:50.83\00:08:54.25 It has been discussed that maybe we should put some kind 00:08:54.26\00:08:57.91 of statin in the water supply, 00:08:57.92\00:09:00.95 so that when we have our cholesterol growing up, 00:09:00.96\00:09:05.28 the statins that we have put in the water supply 00:09:05.29\00:09:07.74 is actually helping keep the cholesterol down the-- 00:09:07.75\00:09:12.66 What are your statins in the water supply? 00:09:12.67\00:09:14.63 Here's a thought, don't eat animal products. 00:09:14.64\00:09:19.05 Don't eat cholesterol. 00:09:19.06\00:09:21.10 Let's talk about prevention here. 00:09:21.11\00:09:22.86 Yeah. They just can't turn it off, 00:09:33.16\00:09:34.90 all this marketing, the way they've been raised, 00:09:34.91\00:09:36.84 their culture, there's neural synapses in the brain 00:09:36.85\00:09:39.44 that brings pleasure had been turned on 00:09:39.45\00:09:41.42 since they were babies.
