Tell me about that. 00:01:03.24\00:01:04.58 Let's talk about how we need to look at food 00:01:04.59\00:01:07.77 and how we need to look at health? 00:01:07.78\00:01:09.78 I went to a shopping for a hood 00:01:09.79\00:01:13.87 that goes above the stove, 00:01:13.88\00:01:15.25 my wife's kitchen there and the hood broke, 00:01:15.26\00:01:19.34 the fan and the light everything broke. 00:01:19.35\00:01:20.83 So I'd to go buying new one. 00:01:20.84\00:01:21.85 So I went to the store 00:01:21.86\00:01:23.65 and I found the hood section of the store 00:01:23.66\00:01:28.16 and there I found that I had three choices for hoods. 00:01:28.17\00:01:31.81 I could buy a good hood, 00:01:31.82\00:01:34.02 a better hood, and a best hood. 00:01:34.03\00:01:36.13 A good, better, and best. 00:01:36.14\00:01:37.50 And they had different features of what not 00:01:37.51\00:01:39.08 and I made the choice based on what I needed there. 00:01:39.09\00:01:41.50 But this concept of good, better, best, 00:01:41.51\00:01:43.75 stuck in my mind as I was driving home. 00:01:43.76\00:01:45.94 I thought, you know, that's very much like health 00:01:45.95\00:01:48.62 when we talk about health. 00:01:48.63\00:01:50.11 There is good health. 00:01:50.12\00:01:51.56 There is better health and there is best health. 00:01:51.57\00:01:54.96 Now our program is called Ultimate Prescription 00:01:54.97\00:01:57.53 which means we're trying to move 00:01:57.54\00:01:58.63 you to that best health section. 00:01:58.64\00:02:01.79 We want to make sure that you have the absolute best health. 00:02:01.80\00:02:05.53 But some people it will be a real task 00:02:05.54\00:02:08.00 for them to have good health. 00:02:08.01\00:02:09.46 And so let's move into that. Yeah. 00:02:09.47\00:02:10.76 So here is an example. 00:02:10.77\00:02:12.14 Right here in front of me of three ways 00:02:12.15\00:02:14.41 that you can eat apples 00:02:14.42\00:02:16.79 and we're gonna go good, better, best, here. Right. 00:02:16.80\00:02:20.04 The first way is, these are health bars. 00:02:20.05\00:02:22.97 There are apples in there, these are health bars. 00:02:22.98\00:02:26.03 And these are supposed to be very nutrition 00:02:26.04\00:02:29.06 and I suppose they are. 00:02:29.07\00:02:31.00 But the thing about these 00:02:31.01\00:02:32.34 is that there's a lot of sugar in here as well. 00:02:32.35\00:02:35.18 There are a few chemicals as preservatives 00:02:35.19\00:02:37.34 and that you can leave this out and probably 00:02:37.35\00:02:38.98 look just like this in about 30 years. 00:02:38.99\00:02:42.45 You can use this as a way of getting good health, 00:02:42.46\00:02:46.26 if you have bad health, 00:02:46.27\00:02:47.53 you can go to good health with this. 00:02:47.54\00:02:48.85 Okay, that's fine and good. 00:02:48.86\00:02:49.94 Now the next one here, let's go to little bit better. 00:02:49.95\00:02:53.23 Here are some dehydrated apples. 00:02:53.24\00:02:56.46 There's apples in here, here are some dehydrated apples. 00:02:56.47\00:02:59.39 This is simply a Fuji apples, 00:02:59.40\00:03:01.25 my favorite, that have been dehydrated. 00:03:01.26\00:03:03.00 The only ingredient for this, I suppose to the ingredient 00:03:03.01\00:03:05.86 for the other thing, is organic apples. 00:03:05.87\00:03:08.41 So we have some nice 00:03:08.42\00:03:09.48 dehydrated apples and they're delicious. 00:03:09.49\00:03:11.15 You can have better health 00:03:11.16\00:03:12.75 when you eat this. That's fantastic. 00:03:12.76\00:03:15.01 But you know we want to go one step further. 00:03:15.02\00:03:17.51 We want to go from good to better to best. 00:03:17.52\00:03:20.82 If you want to have the best health, 00:03:20.83\00:03:25.87 here you go, the whole apple. Yeah. 00:03:25.88\00:03:28.54 Just go to the store and buy an apple. 00:03:28.55\00:03:31.07 You know, there's no ingredient list on an apple, 00:03:31.08\00:03:34.41 doesn't have to be there for two reasons. 00:03:34.42\00:03:36.93 Number one it's just an apple. 00:03:36.94\00:03:39.28 And number two if we showed all the ingredients 00:03:39.29\00:03:43.04 and all the nutrition of this apple, it would be a book. 00:03:43.05\00:03:48.82 There would be page after page after page 00:03:48.83\00:03:51.58 of all the nutrients that are in this simple apple. 00:03:51.59\00:03:55.01 This is un-messed with. This is the way God intended. 00:03:55.02\00:03:57.58 You pick it off the tree and you eat it. 00:03:57.59\00:03:59.49 That's what God had in mind. 00:03:59.50\00:04:00.94 So we have good, better, and best. 00:04:00.95\00:04:04.20 So when we talk to you on this program about your health, 00:04:04.21\00:04:08.29 we want you to make the steps if necessary to that, 00:04:08.30\00:04:10.83 you may have to go through the good, 00:04:10.84\00:04:12.32 the better, eat a little bit better, 00:04:12.33\00:04:13.92 drink a little bit more water, breath a little bit better, 00:04:13.93\00:04:18.06 eat more plant based, then you move into the better, 00:04:18.07\00:04:22.70 you know, let's have more raw foods, 00:04:22.71\00:04:24.82 fruits as grown, and the best. 00:04:24.83\00:04:27.88 Let's just have foods 00:04:27.89\00:04:29.13 as God had it in the Garden of Eden for us. 00:04:29.14\00:04:32.26 Good, better, best, you can't lose. 00:04:32.27\00:04:34.04 You know, Charles, and I hear though 00:04:34.05\00:04:35.72 patients in the practical world, 00:04:35.73\00:04:37.27 they come into my office. 00:04:37.28\00:04:39.01 They've had their bypass surgery and they say listen, 00:04:39.02\00:04:42.07 I just can't eat this way. I just can't do it. 00:04:42.08\00:04:44.46 I know, I was raised on this type of food. I can't do it. 00:04:44.47\00:04:47.91 Dr. Marcum, I agree 00:04:47.92\00:04:49.36 that this type of diet is the best for me, 00:04:49.37\00:04:52.22 but I can't do it because it upsets me. 00:04:52.23\00:04:54.17 My wife can't cook that way. 00:04:54.18\00:04:55.87 They have a lot of different things. 00:04:55.88\00:04:57.59 So they what we do? You know, what we do? 00:04:57.60\00:04:59.46 And I've given this a lot of thought and prayer. 00:04:59.47\00:05:01.89 And the first thing I said, listen, 00:05:01.90\00:05:03.62 you know, first thing I want you to do 00:05:03.63\00:05:05.19 is to have this relationship with the great physician. 00:05:05.20\00:05:08.29 Let him teach you and ask for the power 00:05:08.30\00:05:10.51 and I've actually done this in my life, Charles. 00:05:10.52\00:05:12.73 And as I made changes, 00:05:12.74\00:05:13.90 I'll make changes one at a time. 00:05:13.91\00:05:16.23 And it might be as simple as drinking water. 00:05:16.24\00:05:18.53 We're not eating big at night or eating little bit of fresh 00:05:18.54\00:05:21.52 and then through that relationship 00:05:21.53\00:05:23.43 and the power that comes 00:05:23.44\00:05:24.49 with that after the getting about this, 00:05:24.50\00:05:25.90 you know, I do feel better. 00:05:25.91\00:05:27.73 And after a while some of the foods 00:05:27.74\00:05:29.18 that used to taste so good, doesn't taste as good. 00:05:29.19\00:05:31.81 And they realize that the power of God 00:05:31.82\00:05:34.07 through the Holy Spirit is changing the way they think, 00:05:34.08\00:05:36.65 the way they live and they're making changes one at a time. 00:05:36.66\00:05:39.70 They're moving up this line towards great health, 00:05:39.71\00:05:42.66 the good, better, best. 00:05:42.67\00:05:43.84 Not everyone moves at the same speed. That's right. 00:05:43.85\00:05:46.35 And like I said, these are things 00:05:46.36\00:05:48.92 that have to be done slowly in some people. 00:05:48.93\00:05:50.96 And we have to wrap truth and love 00:05:50.97\00:05:52.66 and we've to nurture them and encourage them. 00:05:52.67\00:05:55.24 I do a weight management program 00:05:55.25\00:05:57.64 and I had some really big fellows 00:05:57.65\00:05:59.19 that weigh about 400 pounds each. 00:05:59.20\00:06:01.85 And these fellows, you know, 00:06:01.86\00:06:03.78 they ate out this restaurant every single night 00:06:03.79\00:06:05.94 there had a big buffet, do you seen those? 00:06:05.95\00:06:07.64 Oh, my God, yes. And they ate late at night. 00:06:07.65\00:06:09.41 They ate three or four plates full each 00:06:09.42\00:06:11.58 and it wasn't the best food. 00:06:11.59\00:06:13.35 And they had--they both had some problems 00:06:13.36\00:06:15.08 and they were come into this program 00:06:15.09\00:06:16.59 and we gonna help them lose weight 00:06:16.60\00:06:17.75 to change their chemistry 00:06:17.76\00:06:18.88 because they don't want to take pills. 00:06:18.89\00:06:20.37 So the first place we started was in truth. 00:06:20.38\00:06:22.84 The next thing I taught them 00:06:22.85\00:06:23.98 about was relationship with God, 00:06:23.99\00:06:25.91 you know, so they can learn things 00:06:25.92\00:06:27.05 and God will give them the power to make changes. 00:06:27.06\00:06:28.99 And then the first thing I said, 00:06:29.00\00:06:30.03 well, why don't instead of eating five nights a week, 00:06:30.04\00:06:32.12 why don't we only go four nights a week? 00:06:32.13\00:06:34.85 Well, they started doing that and they said. 00:06:34.86\00:06:36.47 Well, we're so hungry 00:06:36.48\00:06:37.51 that we have to go to fast food breakfast place 00:06:37.52\00:06:39.32 and I go, wait a second. 00:06:39.33\00:06:41.45 So but they did that for a month and that, 00:06:41.46\00:06:43.73 God gave him the power not to go every night 00:06:43.74\00:06:45.85 and sooner or later, you know, 00:06:45.86\00:06:47.18 they felt better on the nights and they didn't go. 00:06:47.19\00:06:49.09 So we made that step the first month. 00:06:49.10\00:06:51.21 The next month I said, let's try-- 00:06:51.22\00:06:52.84 since water is so important in nutrition 00:06:52.85\00:06:54.93 let's try drinking water. Yeah. 00:06:54.94\00:06:56.73 So they started drinking water and guess 00:06:56.74\00:06:58.76 what after two months they at least lost 10 or 15 pounds. 00:06:58.77\00:07:01.69 And they go, well, would it be possible 00:07:01.70\00:07:03.28 not to eat that big meal at night? 00:07:03.29\00:07:05.48 So they tried doing that and now after two years, 00:07:05.49\00:07:08.92 after two years they're starting 00:07:08.93\00:07:10.90 to like eat vegetables and it taste good 00:07:10.91\00:07:13.10 and when they go back to their old habits 00:07:13.11\00:07:14.96 there chemistry gets worse and they feel bad. 00:07:14.97\00:07:17.40 That's been the power and God's worked in their life 00:07:17.41\00:07:19.32 to make little changes one at a time. 00:07:19.33\00:07:21.27 They feel His power, they feel that relationship 00:07:21.28\00:07:24.15 and they're growing in Him. 00:07:24.16\00:07:25.64 Now they know that the God 00:07:25.65\00:07:26.83 saves them regardless of what they do. 00:07:26.84\00:07:28.58 He's gonna save them. Yes, he's gonna save them. 00:07:28.59\00:07:30.31 But they followed these laws 00:07:30.32\00:07:32.28 just like we've talked in previous programs. 00:07:32.29\00:07:34.34 The law of water, the law of drinking air, 00:07:34.35\00:07:36.89 the law of--even the food we were designed. 00:07:36.90\00:07:39.43 As we do that we feel better, 00:07:39.44\00:07:41.24 we have more energy, our bodies-- 00:07:41.25\00:07:43.37 God really changes our minds and starts working with us, 00:07:43.38\00:07:46.52 and these changes are possible. 00:07:46.53\00:07:47.77 So we go good, better, and best. 00:07:47.78\00:07:50.62 Not everyone in this life might be the best, 00:07:50.63\00:07:52.91 but we wanna be on that line heading that direction. 00:07:52.92\00:07:55.85 And there is so much people can read about nutrition, 00:07:55.86\00:07:58.44 but we had to say, 00:07:58.45\00:07:59.82 how important nutrition is. Absolutely. 00:07:59.83\00:08:01.90 You know, you make an important point there 00:08:01.91\00:08:03.47 that in time when you move 00:08:03.48\00:08:06.70 from the good to the better to the best, 00:08:06.71\00:08:08.99 your taste buds adjust. 00:08:09.00\00:08:10.84 Anyone there's been on this journey-- 00:08:10.85\00:08:12.22 they're shaking their heads right now. 00:08:12.23\00:08:14.10 They understand this. Your taste buds adjust. 00:08:14.11\00:08:16.96 It can take up to three weeks, 00:08:16.97\00:08:18.77 sometimes four weeks for the taste buds to say 00:08:18.78\00:08:20.55 okay I like the apple better than I like the energy bar. 00:08:20.56\00:08:24.51 Or I like the apple better than I like this version of apple. 00:08:24.52\00:08:28.59 So as you make this journey 00:08:28.60\00:08:30.98 your body goes along and then finally, 00:08:30.99\00:08:33.37 I know, for a fact that if I were to eat this energy bar 00:08:33.38\00:08:36.07 it would just be way too sweet for me. 00:08:36.08\00:08:38.10 It would be too much chemical taste in there. 00:08:38.11\00:08:39.90 I would taste it all because the taste buds 00:08:39.91\00:08:42.14 for all these years when you've been eating all the stuff 00:08:42.15\00:08:44.93 that wasn't good for you, kinda gets dent, 00:08:44.94\00:08:47.74 but when it becomes alive 00:08:47.75\00:08:50.04 and your taste buds suddenly realize good from bad 00:08:50.05\00:08:54.10 and your taste buds are really enjoying this. 00:08:54.11\00:08:57.18 Now let's get to a question 00:08:57.19\00:08:58.25 where we have Dr. Marcum from Heartwiseministries.org, 00:08:58.26\00:09:01.90 people send in questions that you need to answer. 00:09:01.91\00:09:03.76 And we have one hear from a mother 00:09:03.77\00:09:05.70 she says, she's now 93. 00:09:05.71\00:09:08.06 Her mother lives next door, 00:09:08.07\00:09:09.13 some sort, mother lives next door. 00:09:09.14\00:09:10.29 She is 93. And she is independent. 00:09:10.30\00:09:12.85 She often feels tired. Well, she is 93 years old-- 00:09:12.86\00:09:15.68 Yeah, I would really get tired too. 00:09:15.69\00:09:16.89 Yeah, her skin is dry. Oh, she get dizzy a lot. 00:09:16.90\00:09:21.14 She's on medication and for blood pressure 00:09:21.15\00:09:24.11 and swollen legs and she was wondering 00:09:24.12\00:09:26.55 if there is anything you can do nutritionally 00:09:26.56\00:09:29.34 for that person, do you have some ideas for her? 00:09:29.35\00:09:31.66 So run this bar, Charles, once more time. 00:09:31.67\00:09:33.96 She is--how she is feeling again? 00:09:33.97\00:09:35.46 She is tired. Okay. 00:09:35.47\00:09:37.16 She has dry skin. Okay. 00:09:37.17\00:09:38.93 And she has blood pressure problem and swollen legs. 00:09:38.94\00:09:42.53 Anything nutritional going on there? Absolutely. 00:09:42.54\00:09:45.09 First of all, you know, 00:09:45.10\00:09:46.13 the dry skin might be just a hydration problem. Yes. 00:09:46.14\00:09:49.21 So drinking of water might help that tremendously. 00:09:49.22\00:09:52.54 Now we know that people that don't get good nutrition 00:09:52.55\00:09:54.98 they might be missing some vitamins, some phytochemicals. 00:09:54.99\00:09:58.29 So just try to eat two or three fresh fruits 00:09:58.30\00:10:00.52 and vegetables a day will definitely help. 00:10:00.53\00:10:02.65 Sometimes as people get older, you know, 00:10:02.66\00:10:05.05 it's harder to chew. They have dentures. 00:10:05.06\00:10:07.18 It's harder to get good nutrition. 00:10:07.19\00:10:09.09 Sometimes it's hard for people to get out 00:10:09.10\00:10:10.85 and choose their foods. 00:10:10.86\00:10:12.29 So, you know, in good, better, best, 00:10:12.30\00:10:13.99 we say, well, if you can't drink water every day 00:10:14.00\00:10:16.21 your thirst goes down the older you get. 00:10:16.22\00:10:18.91 Another thing we can if we can get fresh fruits 00:10:18.92\00:10:21.21 and vegetables that would be great 00:10:21.22\00:10:22.68 if we could eat that during the day. 00:10:22.69\00:10:24.29 We also--as our digestion slows down as we age, 00:10:24.30\00:10:27.48 we need more fiber to keep those bowels moving, you know-- 00:10:27.49\00:10:31.65 Well, let me just ask you a quick question. 00:10:31.66\00:10:33.04 How much fiber is in animal products? 00:10:33.05\00:10:34.98 No, nil. That's not what we wanna do. 00:10:34.99\00:10:37.26 None? Yeah. 00:10:37.27\00:10:38.86 Let me give you a short example. 00:10:38.87\00:10:41.24 You know, if I eat a big heavy meal at night, 00:10:41.25\00:10:45.32 with lots of animal products 00:10:45.33\00:10:46.67 that stays in my body a long period of time. 00:10:46.68\00:10:49.11 Normally we keep animal products in the refrigerator 00:10:49.12\00:10:52.20 because if we don't keep it in refrigerator it spoils. Yeah. 00:10:52.21\00:10:55.36 Well, when you put that in a body at 98.6 late at night 00:10:55.37\00:10:58.99 that literally spoils in our bodies, 00:10:59.00\00:11:01.26 not only do we get all the chemicals 00:11:01.27\00:11:02.87 but it doesn't move through our system. 00:11:02.88\00:11:04.78 It sort of spoils, it absorbs bad stuff. 00:11:04.79\00:11:06.86 We get everything that the animal has in it. 00:11:06.87\00:11:08.97 It absorbs just the chemicals 00:11:08.98\00:11:10.46 that bring it to market the steroids and diseases. 00:11:10.47\00:11:13.21 But when we eat more plants, guess what? 00:11:13.22\00:11:15.51 It moves through our system quicker, 00:11:15.52\00:11:17.81 it keeps our bodies going quicker 00:11:17.82\00:11:19.61 and we don't absorb as much. 00:11:19.62\00:11:21.20 So I would tell her drink some more water, 00:11:21.21\00:11:23.77 first start with some fruits and vegetables, 00:11:23.78\00:11:25.69 try not to eat big at night, 00:11:25.70\00:11:27.23 see how you feel at the end of the month 00:11:27.24\00:11:28.95 and then we can move on to step two. 00:11:28.96\00:11:30.61 All right, very good. 00:11:30.62\00:11:31.72 Nutrition, so very, very important to us. 00:11:31.73\00:11:34.50 And again when we're talking about nutrition as the Bible, 00:11:34.51\00:11:38.87 as Genesis, as the creation story tells us. 00:11:38.88\00:11:41.54 We're talking about whole foods, plant-based diet. 00:11:41.55\00:11:45.91 You know, you can be a, 00:11:45.92\00:11:46.95 you can be a Vegan and eat potato chips. 00:11:46.96\00:11:50.19 You can be a Vegan and drink soda pop. 00:11:50.20\00:11:53.47 We're talking about eating fruits as growing, 00:11:53.48\00:11:55.45 whole foods, plant-based diet, so important to us all. 00:11:55.46\00:11:59.10 We've been talking about nutrition today 00:12:05.09\00:12:07.37 and we have a template that was given to us back at creation. 00:12:07.38\00:12:11.24 A diet in a garden that was filled with fruits, 00:12:11.25\00:12:13.83 vegetables, nuts, and grains, 00:12:13.84\00:12:15.48 that's the best diet for us to eat. 00:12:15.49\00:12:18.28 Now we also have talked about how the problems in the world, 00:12:18.29\00:12:21.58 doesn't necessarily give us that food anymore 00:12:21.59\00:12:23.67 and I admit it's hard for all of us to eat the right food. 00:12:23.68\00:12:27.75 And we can't do this without extra power 00:12:27.76\00:12:30.13 I think and that comes from the power 00:12:30.14\00:12:31.74 in that relationship with the Holy Spirit. 00:12:31.75\00:12:34.70 That relationship with God that gives us 00:12:34.71\00:12:36.51 the ability to make changes one at a time 00:12:36.52\00:12:39.15 to do it in a loving manner, 00:12:39.16\00:12:40.51 and not judge other peoples as well as ourselves. 00:12:40.52\00:12:43.73 But we also need the spiritual power 00:12:43.74\00:12:45.88 and how do we get the spiritual power?
