00:01 The following program presents principles
00:02 designed to promote good health 00:04 and is not intended to take 00:05 the place of personalized professional care. 00:07 The opinions and ideas expressed 00:09 are those of the speaker. 00:10 Viewers are encouraged to draw 00:12 their own conclusions about the information presented. 00:17 You know, we're literally surrounded 00:19 by two vital elements for life. 00:21 But scientists say that we're not getting 00:23 enough of either one. That can be dangerous. Stay tuned. 00:30 I'm Dr. James Marcum. 00:32 Are you interested in discovering the reason why? 00:36 You want solutions to your healthcare problems. 00:38 Are you tired of taking medications? 00:41 Well, you're about to be given 00:43 the Ultimate Prescription. 00:47 You know, we really should be embarrassed 00:49 by the fact that many of us are facing medical challenges 00:51 not because of heredity 00:53 or injury or even unhealthy food. 00:56 We're sick because we're dehydrated. 00:58 That's right. We don't drink enough water. 01:01 We're drowning in soda pop, alcohol, 01:04 coffee and cow's milk but we're dehydrated. 01:08 Why is water so important 01:10 and why did God create ample amounts of it 01:12 on the second day of creation week? 01:14 Dr. Marcum, tell us what we need to know. 01:17 Well, you know, we've talked previously 01:19 about how when we don't follow God's template-- 01:22 it puts stress on our body. 01:25 And lo behold, Charles, what it-- 01:26 what is 70 percent of the world made of? 01:28 Water. Right.Water. 01:30 And a lot of people don't realize that 01:32 70 percent of their body is made of water 01:34 and all the chemical reactions, 01:36 everything depends on having 01:38 the adequate amount of water in the body. 01:41 For instance, I was taking care of an elderly patient 01:45 that came to the hospital 01:47 and she was taking a fluid pill. 01:49 And she was taking a pill for diabetes. 01:51 And she was taking a pill for high blood pressure. 01:53 But she got sick, Charles. 01:55 And when she got sick, she did not drink enough water. 01:58 She became dehydrated. 02:00 When she became dehydrated, 02:02 her kidney functions got worse very quickly. 02:05 So all the medicines that she was putting in her, 02:08 of course, the diuretic, 02:09 even dehydrated her more. Absolutely. 02:11 But the other pills did not get metabolized 02:14 like they should. So they stayed much longer. 02:16 So her blood sugar went much lower 02:18 than it was supposed to. 02:19 The blood pressure much lower. 02:21 So by the time she came into the emergency room, 02:24 just that act of dehydration is what caused 02:27 all these medicines to be amplified in the body. 02:30 So if you think about it, Charles, 02:32 water is one of the most important things 02:35 we need in the treatment for every disease. 02:37 We talked about this stress response before. 02:40 When we don't get enough water, we become dehydrated. 02:43 And it's like you're walking around 02:45 in the desert, Charles. 02:46 You get tired out there. 02:47 You get dehydrated and guess what? 02:49 Sooner or later, you don't think right. Yes. 02:51 'Cause your brain needs water. Yes, yes. 02:52 All of a sudden, the stress chemistry is turned on 02:55 'cause you're trying to conserve things. 02:57 Your adrenaline and cortisol and inflammation goes up. 03:00 Your blood becomes thicker and wants to clot more. 03:03 So when you're dehydrated, 03:04 a host of bad things happen to the body. 03:07 Not only, you don't think well, 03:08 so you can't make good decisions, 03:10 but you're more likely to have a heart attack. 03:13 When you're dehydrated, the blood pressure changes. 03:15 You start to metabolize things different. 03:18 So without having adequate water, 03:20 it's really a terrible thing. 03:21 And do you think we drink enough water today? 03:23 No, absolutely not. Absolutely not. Yeah. 03:25 We're drinking everything but water. Exactly. 03:28 So a liquid isn't just a liquid. 03:30 We have to know that there are liquids 03:32 and that there are liquids 03:33 that water has something specific for us. 03:36 If we are not drinking water, 03:38 we are missing something vital for our health. 03:40 And I like what you said 03:41 there about the ability to think. 03:43 If we are dehydrated, 03:46 we can't think straight. Correct. 03:48 And how does God communicate with us? 03:50 How do we communicate with God? Through our thoughts. 03:54 So if we are dehydrated, we are actually affecting 03:56 our communication with the Almighty. That's right. 03:58 And everyone throughout time 04:00 has focused on modern medicine. 04:02 You know, how we have to take pills 04:04 and there're certain procedures 04:05 and there's a place for that. Yeah. 04:06 But when we don't have enough water in our system 04:09 that God gave us back at creation, 04:11 where not only our world runs on water, 04:14 but our bodies run on water. 04:16 The master designer knew we needed water. 04:18 And when we ignore this natural law, 04:21 things start to break just like we talked before. 04:23 You know, when you don't follow 04:25 the natural law, things break. 04:27 When we don't drink enough water, 04:28 things start to break in our bodies. 04:30 We have this chronic stress and if we're dehydrated 04:33 day in day out, year in and year out, 04:35 soon or later guess what happens? Things break. 04:38 We have the need for modern medicine, 04:40 a bunch of procedures and maybe even more pills 04:42 and it could've been traced way back to years ago 04:45 when we gave up drinking water 04:47 something that was so vital to our existence. 04:49 And one of those things that breaks 04:50 can possibly be our connection with God. 04:52 That's what just floors me 04:55 that what affects us physically 04:59 also affects us spiritually and mentally. 05:01 The same principles that God put in place for us 05:04 in creation for our physical health 05:06 are essential for our mental and spiritual health. 05:10 This is truly biblical technology. 05:12 Yes, it is. There it is. 05:13 You know, God gave us that prescription. Yeah. 05:15 Way back at creation that we needed to drink water. 05:19 We needed to stay hydrated. 05:20 It was essential for everything. 05:22 And when you go to an emergency room, 05:23 the first thing I want to do 05:24 is make sure someone has a good IV, 05:26 and make sure they're hydrated. 05:28 Before my medicines and procedures will be optimum, 05:31 they have to be hydrated. 05:33 And we see every year, Charles, 05:34 I see people that actually die 05:37 not only of the acute phase of dehydration 05:39 as well as chronic dehydration. 05:41 You know, the chronic dehydration causes 05:42 all these stress reactions that, you know, headaches 05:46 and, you know, blood clots, and, you know, dizziness 05:49 and all these symptoms 05:50 where the body just breaks down slowly. 05:51 But people also die of dehydration acutely. 05:54 Runners that are getting out, they get overheated. 05:57 Water is very important to maintain our temperature 06:00 to maintain what we call homeostasis. 06:03 When you don't drink enough water, you can actually die. 06:06 You know, we have a condition 06:07 in medicine called rhabdomyolysis. 06:10 What happens when we don't get enough water? 06:12 The muscles start to breakdown. 06:13 The kidneys don't work. 06:15 We can't excrete these things. 06:16 And we actually can physically die from lack of water. 06:19 You know, people in the desert, 06:21 die if they don't get water. 06:23 You know, you can live a long time 06:25 without a lot of things for food, 06:27 but how long can you live without water? 06:29 A matter of days, I mean, we're talking-- 06:32 measuring in hours here as far as water is concerned. 06:33 Yes. Water is essential to our care. 06:36 Okay, now we know about the guy in the desert 06:40 who is just struggling through the sands 06:43 and his lips are parched 06:44 and his throat is tight and his tongue is thick. 06:48 We're not wandering through the desert in our lives. 06:51 We are going off to work. We're driving our cars. 06:53 We are playing with our kids. 06:55 We're sleeping in our beds. 06:57 Our life is very different. 06:58 What are some of the signs, Dr. Martin--Dr. Marcum, 07:01 that we are lacking water in our normal everyday lives? 07:06 That is a great question, Charles. 07:08 And couple things, you know, 07:10 you might notice that your mouth is getting dry, 07:13 that you do not make tears, that you're getting dizzy. 07:17 One thing if you're dehydrated, 07:19 the heart will go faster. 07:21 You might see the blood pressure go down. 07:24 You might not have the energy. 07:25 In fact, one of the leading causes 07:27 of fatigue now is dehydration. 07:30 One of the causes of not sleeping 07:32 well at night is dehydration. 07:34 You just described most people 07:35 in this country right now. Yes. 07:36 One of the causes of reflux disease is dehydration. 07:40 Dehydration has been associated 07:41 with things like depression. 07:43 Because, you know, the brain doesn't think right. 07:45 So just simple things that I tell people is the skin dry? 07:48 Are they dizzy? Is the heart's getting faster? 07:50 Now we have some blood work to do. Yeah. 07:52 But, you know, what the best way to tell 07:54 if you're dehydrated, I think, go to the bathroom 07:57 and look at the color of your urine. 08:00 If it is really, really dark, 08:02 chances are you're not getting enough water. 08:04 If its light--lightens up, chances are, 08:07 you are getting enough water. 08:09 So that's a simple test. 08:10 Now we can actually measure the specific gravity in urine 08:14 to tell exactly where you are at. 08:15 In the hospital, I can adjust you 08:17 just perfectly to get your hydration status perfect. 08:20 But, you know, we're gonna talk today about 08:22 this treatment of water and exactly 08:24 how much a person needs. 08:25 And how they can make sure they have that. 08:27 And the reason we want people to have water is so, 08:30 we don't break into this chronic chemical stress 08:33 cascade that we've talked about. Yes, yes. 08:35 And we're going through each of-- 08:37 when things were perfect. 08:39 God gave us water to drink. 08:40 And now things are not perfect. 08:41 And if I was the evil one wanting to destroy health 08:44 and wanting to destroy someone's well being, 08:46 what I would do? I'd make them focus not from water. 08:49 Two hundred years ago, what did we drink? 08:51 We drank water. 08:52 Yeah, we didn't go up to the store 08:54 and put a dime in to get a-- 08:56 Get a little can of something-- 08:57 No, we did not do that. 08:59 You know, we were designed to drink water. 09:01 And another thing you asked about 09:03 the symptoms is when you need water, 09:05 your body will tell you. Yes. 09:07 You'll say, "Man, I'm thirsty." Thirsty. 09:09 "I need to drink." 09:10 But nowadays, we're getting 09:12 a lot of slick marketing that says, 09:14 "Well, you can have this drink, or this drink, 09:16 or you can, you know, substitute this." 09:18 Have the high energy version of water. Exactly. Yes. 09:20 But nothing, Charles, nothing is better 09:23 than a good old glass of water from the earth 09:25 that God gave us back at creation. 09:27 This was a template for our health. 09:29 Something that God gave us, 09:31 a biblical prescription from the great physician 09:34 that made our body, knew what it needed to run on. 09:36 And if we take this most vital substance 09:38 out of our body, we get sick. 09:41 And, yet we don't dwell enough on what we can do. 09:44 You know, we can drink water everyday. 09:46 If we don't, bad things are gonna happen, Charles. 09:49 I'm just talking right now 09:50 and I'm starting to get thirsty. 09:51 Because I'm talking about so much water. 09:53 But we're gonna have to go a few more minutes 09:54 before we get some water here. 09:56 You know, that is pretty amazing 09:59 that the very first thing God put on this earth 10:03 at the very first part after He made light possible 10:06 in this dark hole, this void of earth, 10:09 God brought about water and air. 10:11 And He knew that all life, 10:14 this is before He made plants and animals. 10:15 This is before He made us. 10:16 This is before He made everything. He made water. 10:20 And, okay, how much water this is-- 10:23 I know this is something that a lot of people debate, 10:26 should I have six glasses? Should I have eight glasses? 10:29 If I am a total vegetarian, do I need less of water? 10:33 Because I'm getting my water in my food. 10:35 And can I have water that's in tea 10:38 or how about the water in coffee? 10:40 Coffee is mostly water there. 10:41 You just put some coffee grounds in there. Yeah. 10:44 If you do that, are you keeping with God's ideal 10:48 when you used with what I call? Messed with water. 10:51 Yeah, and messed with water, as you put it, 10:54 is never as good as the real stuff. 10:56 You know, it's never quite as good as the real thing. 10:59 They have substitutes. 11:00 And throughout this world, there's always been 11:02 substitutes for God's perfect plan. So well put. Yes. 11:05 And unfortunately, these substitutes 11:07 are causing deceptions 11:09 and one little deception after another, 11:10 pretty soon they're gonna say this energy drink, 11:12 you know, they're not necessarily bad. 11:14 But they're not as good as water. 11:15 And then you say, well, maybe I can 11:17 substitute this drink or this soda pop 11:19 and before long, you get in the habit 11:21 where you're not drinking this most vital element 11:23 for a body, and before long, things go crazy. 11:27 Now what I tell people is, you know, everyone says, 11:30 well, I get so many questions at our website. 11:32 What type of water should I drink? 11:34 Or would this work? Would this work? 11:36 Well, some people get so stressed out 11:38 about what they should drink. 11:39 And the type they should drink. 11:40 Yes, you know, just drink water. 11:42 You know, come on, you know. 11:43 Go to the garden hose and just enjoy-- 11:44 Yes, start there and as that-- 11:47 as you get in the habit of that, 11:49 your chemistry will start to change. 11:51 You'll start thinking clear. 11:52 All the chemical reactions in the body will do better. 11:55 It's a treatment for arthritis now 11:57 to drink water because it turns down your inflammation. 12:00 It's a treatment for pain, Charles. Yeah. 12:02 If you want to have less pain, 12:03 make sure you're well hydrated. 12:05 And you have to be so careful 12:06 with your hydration status, 12:08 if you do take prescription medicines. Yes. 12:10 'Cause like I said, if you get dehydrated, 12:12 your kidneys and organs don't work like they should. 12:15 When they designed these medications for you to take, 12:17 they designed them based on normal bodily function, 12:20 normal hydration status. 12:22 And right now, they estimate in the United States, 12:25 and grab this one, Charles. Okay. 12:27 Seven out of ten Americans are dehydrated. 12:30 And we're drinking all the time. Yes. 12:32 We have something in our car. 12:34 We have a drawer out there. 12:35 We have the coffee pot. We have the tea pot. Yes. 12:38 We are constantly drinking 12:39 and seven out of ten of us are thirsty. 12:42 And if I wanted to keep a business going 12:44 I would, I would cause 12:46 chronic problems to occur. Yes, you would. 12:47 You know, I would throw in. 12:48 I'd say, "You know, you don't really need 12:49 to drink water, you can drink everything else." 12:52 And when you drink everything else, 12:53 it puts this chronic stressor on the body, 12:55 which sooner or later is gonna cause a problem, 12:57 which might require hospitalizations, pills, 13:00 or trip to the doctor's office. 13:02 So water is very important, you know, 13:04 I guess we need to talk about air as we go on to. Yeah. 13:07 On that same day God created water, He also created, 13:10 well, almost the opposite of water and that is air. 13:14 And, well, okay, we have air to drink--air to breathe. 13:18 We have no problem there. 13:20 Are we not getting enough air, 13:22 like we're not getting enough water? 13:23 Yeah, and we could talk a long time about this. 13:26 And, you know, just think about it, 13:27 we're designed to breathe, to take deep breaths. 13:29 When we're stressed out, we take shallow breaths. 13:32 Our pollutant world is full of things 13:34 that we can't get well. 13:35 Our houses aren't ventilated well. 13:37 There is a host of problems. 13:38 And we're gonna have to talk more about this. Absolutely. 13:41 I'm gonna talk more about the air 13:43 that we should be breathing 13:44 and answer your questions on our return. 13:46 So stay right where you are. |
