Thank you. 00:00:48.11\00:00:49.81 Yes, this is your first time on Dare to Dream. 00:00:49.84\00:00:52.25 So this is exciting. 00:00:52.28\00:00:53.62 Our viewers are going to get to know you, 00:00:53.65\00:00:55.48 find out about your background, and just all of that. 00:00:55.52\00:00:59.39 You know, I met you, probably years ago 00:00:59.42\00:01:02.52 at one of these events, ASI or GYC, 00:01:02.56\00:01:06.33 or one of these things, but I got a chance 00:01:06.36\00:01:09.30 to hear your testimonies 00:01:09.33\00:01:11.43 the other night at a concert. 00:01:11.47\00:01:15.37 And that was I was very impressed. 00:01:15.40\00:01:17.57 And I knew that we needed to share this 00:01:17.61\00:01:19.94 with our Dear to Dream viewers. 00:01:19.97\00:01:22.54 So let's jump into your background. 00:01:22.58\00:01:24.98 Ernie, let's start with you. 00:01:25.01\00:01:26.35 Okay, yeah, my background, 00:01:26.38\00:01:27.95 I grew up in a family that didn't have like 00:01:27.98\00:01:30.42 a religious background at all. 00:01:30.45\00:01:31.79 Okay. 00:01:31.82\00:01:33.15 So religious things and spiritual things are just, 00:01:33.19\00:01:35.09 they weren't in the cards for me kind of thing. 00:01:35.12\00:01:37.03 Yes. 00:01:37.06\00:01:38.39 Some other big things about me, I'm an adopted child. 00:01:38.43\00:01:40.43 So I didn't grow up with my biological family, 00:01:40.46\00:01:43.03 I grew up with a step family, 00:01:43.06\00:01:44.40 but I didn't go through the foster care. 00:01:44.43\00:01:45.83 So I was adopted within the family. 00:01:45.87\00:01:47.87 It may sound really confusing, 00:01:47.90\00:01:49.24 but I just understand that I didn't know my mom 00:01:49.27\00:01:52.21 and my dad and that kind of stuff. 00:01:52.24\00:01:53.61 Yeah. 00:01:53.64\00:01:54.98 I did not live with them because my mother was addicted 00:01:55.01\00:01:56.54 to methamphetamine, 00:01:56.58\00:01:57.91 she has a substance addiction problem. 00:01:57.95\00:01:59.31 So, left me with a lot of questions, 00:01:59.35\00:02:02.55 like, wondering, it's just like, who am I? 00:02:02.58\00:02:04.42 And why am I here? 00:02:04.45\00:02:05.95 And why am I not worthy of love and that kind of stuff? 00:02:05.99\00:02:07.96 And that'll it'll weigh on you as we grow up, 00:02:07.99\00:02:10.16 and you get older and older. 00:02:10.19\00:02:11.53 So, yeah. Yes. Yes. 00:02:11.56\00:02:13.09 And, Laura, what about you? 00:02:13.13\00:02:15.93 Well, I guess you could say I was the opposite. 00:02:15.96\00:02:18.57 I grew up in a really good Christian home, 00:02:18.60\00:02:20.90 and had a good upbringing. 00:02:20.94\00:02:23.00 But the world had a very strong pull on me pretty quick. 00:02:23.04\00:02:28.21 Yes. 00:02:28.24\00:02:29.58 And so by the time I was in my early teens, 00:02:29.61\00:02:30.95 I was like, completely rebelling against God, 00:02:30.98\00:02:33.05 I didn't want anything to do with God. 00:02:33.08\00:02:36.38 One reason, because I just found myself 00:02:36.42\00:02:40.06 wanting to do my own thing, you know? 00:02:40.09\00:02:41.96 Yes, yes. 00:02:41.99\00:02:43.32 And then, you know, another reason too 00:02:43.36\00:02:45.13 is getting so caught up, 00:02:45.16\00:02:47.10 looking at all the negative things 00:02:47.13\00:02:48.56 that can go on in Christianity. 00:02:48.60\00:02:50.33 I got so caught up on seeing that everywhere around me 00:02:50.37\00:02:54.17 that I associated that with God. 00:02:54.20\00:02:57.71 And that's how I started to see God. Yes. 00:02:57.74\00:02:59.71 And so I just wanted to go as far away from Him as I could. 00:02:59.74\00:03:03.24 See, you just brought out something 00:03:03.28\00:03:04.91 that's quite profound. 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.28 You know, a lot of times people look at people 00:03:06.31\00:03:08.98 as opposed to the message. 00:03:09.02\00:03:10.39 So people get caught up on the messenger, 00:03:10.42\00:03:12.42 as opposed to the message, the gospel, 00:03:12.45\00:03:16.36 and they fall off of course. 00:03:16.39\00:03:19.23 So that's, yeah, that's a profound point. 00:03:19.26\00:03:22.13 Ernie, I want to transition back to you and talk about, 00:03:22.16\00:03:24.80 you know, how those things impacted you, 00:03:24.83\00:03:27.87 the being adopted within the family, 00:03:27.90\00:03:30.64 which it was a blessing 00:03:30.67\00:03:32.01 that you were still within the family, for sure. 00:03:32.04\00:03:34.91 But what role did that play in your development? 00:03:34.94\00:03:39.05 Yeah, the truth of the matter is it just, 00:03:39.08\00:03:42.18 it really crushed me because as an adopted child, 00:03:42.22\00:03:44.95 even though I had every opportunity to excel, 00:03:44.99\00:03:47.72 to succeed, I was taken out of a circumstance 00:03:47.76\00:03:49.79 that otherwise would have been terrible. 00:03:49.82\00:03:52.56 But you don't grasp concepts like that, 00:03:52.59\00:03:54.30 you don't grasp love that way when you're little. 00:03:54.33\00:03:57.53 I mean, I was two years old when I was adopted. 00:03:57.57\00:03:58.93 So by the time I got into middle school, 00:03:58.97\00:04:00.97 into high school, those kind of things, 00:04:01.00\00:04:02.87 I just felt like I didn't belong anywhere. 00:04:02.90\00:04:04.71 And I think I mentioned in my testimony the other day 00:04:04.74\00:04:07.84 that my skin color was a little bit lighter 00:04:07.88\00:04:09.54 than my adopted family. 00:04:09.58\00:04:11.28 So I just felt like I didn't belong even within the family, 00:04:11.31\00:04:14.02 just time and time again, it was just like, 00:04:14.05\00:04:16.62 I am alone in the world, I'm not worthy of love, 00:04:16.65\00:04:19.25 and there's nothing I can do about it. 00:04:19.29\00:04:21.42 So I would take it out on myself, 00:04:21.46\00:04:24.19 I developed like self-destructive behaviors, 00:04:24.23\00:04:26.90 and one was self-mutilation. 00:04:26.93\00:04:28.93 And that's a clinical term but I would lash out at myself 00:04:28.96\00:04:32.30 and I would cut myself 00:04:32.33\00:04:34.30 or hurt myself in certain ways and whatnot. 00:04:34.34\00:04:36.44 All it was I was in so much pain, 00:04:36.47\00:04:39.01 but had no way to release it or to fill that void. 00:04:39.04\00:04:43.45 You know that kind of thing. Yeah. 00:04:43.48\00:04:44.81 No healthy outlet. No healthy outlet. 00:04:44.85\00:04:46.51 Yeah, exactly. Yes. Yes. 00:04:46.55\00:04:48.28 And, so you were in a very dark place in your life. 00:04:48.32\00:04:54.09 What were some of the other things 00:04:54.12\00:04:55.46 that you were into at that time? 00:04:55.49\00:04:57.86 Yeah. Oh, I just embraced the world. 00:04:57.89\00:05:00.23 So I mean, I took on the darkest types of things, 00:05:00.26\00:05:02.96 I would watch terrible movies, horror movies, 00:05:03.00\00:05:05.23 I was really into that genre. 00:05:05.27\00:05:06.74 I got into the punk rock scene. 00:05:06.77\00:05:08.10 So very anti-establishment, anti-everything, 00:05:08.14\00:05:10.41 anti the world, you know? 00:05:10.44\00:05:12.21 And I just thought that that would empower me 00:05:12.24\00:05:15.24 in some way, shape or form. 00:05:15.28\00:05:17.21 And I thought it did, 00:05:17.25\00:05:19.45 but it really didn't bring me any more sense 00:05:19.48\00:05:21.78 of fulfillment or purpose. 00:05:21.82\00:05:23.49 It just gave me an outlet for all that aggression and anger. 00:05:23.52\00:05:26.72 And then from there, there was no healing. 00:05:26.76\00:05:29.32 Yeah. 00:05:29.36\00:05:30.69 So it sounds like you were searching for principles. 00:05:30.73\00:05:33.09 Oh, yeah. 00:05:33.13\00:05:34.80 But you were searching for the principles in the wrong areas. 00:05:34.83\00:05:37.37 Absolutely. 00:05:37.40\00:05:38.73 Laura, you were gravitating towards the world. 00:05:38.77\00:05:43.91 What was your pull? Was it music, then too? 00:05:43.94\00:05:47.44 Did you want to become like famous singer 00:05:47.48\00:05:51.35 of maybe I don't know what genre. 00:05:51.38\00:05:54.65 But did you want to become a famous singer was that? 00:05:54.68\00:05:57.59 Yeah, that was the goal. Okay. 00:05:57.62\00:06:00.36 My plan actually, as an early teen was 00:06:00.39\00:06:04.06 I wanted to run away from home, 00:06:04.09\00:06:06.16 I wanted to go to LA, 00:06:06.19\00:06:07.63 which is actually where my parents left from 00:06:07.66\00:06:09.83 as soon as I was born, because they didn't want me 00:06:09.86\00:06:11.57 to be raised in LA. 00:06:11.60\00:06:12.93 Okay. 00:06:12.97\00:06:14.30 So I was going to go back there. 00:06:14.34\00:06:15.67 And I was so determined that, you know, 00:06:15.70\00:06:17.11 I could join the music industry, 00:06:17.14\00:06:19.11 become a famous singer. 00:06:19.14\00:06:21.28 I wanted to be the next Sarah Brightman. 00:06:21.31\00:06:23.14 Okay. That was my thing. 00:06:23.18\00:06:26.58 So yeah, that was my goal pretty early on. 00:06:26.61\00:06:29.25 Got you. 00:06:29.28\00:06:30.92 And so when did God grab ahold of your life? 00:06:30.95\00:06:35.26 Well, what happened 00:06:35.29\00:06:38.36 is there was a time 00:06:38.39\00:06:42.06 when I actually did know somebody 00:06:42.10\00:06:44.37 that was quite influential in the music industry. 00:06:44.40\00:06:47.44 And I just remember several times him sitting down 00:06:47.47\00:06:50.14 with me and basically saying, 00:06:50.17\00:06:52.94 "Is this what you want? 00:06:52.97\00:06:54.31 Do you want success? 00:06:54.34\00:06:55.68 Do you want fame? 00:06:55.71\00:06:57.28 Because, you know, you can have it?" 00:06:57.31\00:07:00.25 And that's exactly what I wanted, right? 00:07:00.28\00:07:02.18 But it was just like, I could never say yes, 00:07:02.22\00:07:05.12 there's always this feeling like, "No, this is not for you. 00:07:05.15\00:07:08.49 This is going to take you down a really dark road." 00:07:08.52\00:07:10.79 So I never would say yes to that. 00:07:10.83\00:07:12.56 And so right in the middle of this, 00:07:12.59\00:07:14.50 I was sent to Fountainview Academy. 00:07:14.53\00:07:16.03 Oh, wow. Wow. 00:07:16.06\00:07:17.70 Some of the viewers may know what that is. 00:07:17.73\00:07:19.20 Yes. Yes. 00:07:19.23\00:07:21.40 So it sounds like there was a great controversy going on. 00:07:21.44\00:07:24.91 There was a battle, and praise God 00:07:24.94\00:07:27.84 that He intervened on your behalf, 00:07:27.88\00:07:30.58 and you went to Fountainview. 00:07:30.61\00:07:32.18 Right. Yes, to shift that focus. 00:07:32.21\00:07:35.98 What about you, Ernie? 00:07:36.02\00:07:37.35 When did you grab hold of the gospel? 00:07:37.39\00:07:39.39 That is, that's really a long journey to tell you the truth. 00:07:39.42\00:07:43.19 After middle school, high school, 00:07:43.22\00:07:44.56 after being institutionalized, after therapy, 00:07:44.59\00:07:47.13 after all these things, 00:07:47.16\00:07:48.60 it wasn't until like my tail end of high school, 00:07:48.63\00:07:51.47 when I got in argument with my step family, 00:07:51.50\00:07:54.00 my family, you know, kind of thing. 00:07:54.04\00:07:56.07 But Steve's, my mom threw me out, 00:07:56.10\00:07:58.57 and I was homeless for like two and a half years. 00:07:58.61\00:08:00.28 Wow. 00:08:00.31\00:08:01.64 And I just, again, 00:08:01.68\00:08:03.01 I took on more self-destructing behaviors 00:08:03.04\00:08:04.88 and picked up smoking, drinking, I went right 00:08:04.91\00:08:07.45 to substance abuse, just like my biological mother. 00:08:07.48\00:08:10.19 And I said that in my testimony, 00:08:10.22\00:08:12.32 it pains me to say that, but this is the truth, 00:08:12.35\00:08:14.19 I was given every opportunity to succeed 00:08:14.22\00:08:16.32 and to live that life, and that's exactly 00:08:16.36\00:08:18.49 where I went when I had freedom. 00:08:18.53\00:08:21.46 But God really intervened. 00:08:21.50\00:08:23.10 There's two stories within that, 00:08:23.13\00:08:24.47 but God really intervened. 00:08:24.50\00:08:25.83 The first time that I can recollect very powerfully 00:08:25.87\00:08:28.54 when a certain individual came into the gas station 00:08:28.57\00:08:30.67 where it worked. 00:08:30.71\00:08:32.04 And he asked to pray with me. 00:08:32.07\00:08:33.41 That was a really simple request. 00:08:33.44\00:08:34.78 That's all he asked of me and me not having a background, 00:08:34.81\00:08:37.85 religious things and growing up in a respectable home, 00:08:37.88\00:08:40.78 I thought it'd be fine. 00:08:40.82\00:08:42.15 You know, there was something about who he was, 00:08:42.18\00:08:43.52 he looked happy, he looked, the good purpose, 00:08:43.55\00:08:45.55 all that kind of stuff. 00:08:45.59\00:08:46.92 So I let him pray for me. 00:08:46.96\00:08:48.29 He handed me a little tiny, like, tiny Bible, 00:08:48.32\00:08:50.36 little pocket edition, and then he just left 00:08:50.39\00:08:52.63 and I never saw him again. 00:08:52.66\00:08:54.36 But after that, I decided there was something about him 00:08:54.40\00:08:58.53 and like, just his the way he was living his life. 00:08:58.57\00:09:00.47 He was just happy. 00:09:00.50\00:09:01.84 So I thought maybe it's his relationship with God. 00:09:01.87\00:09:04.31 So I think it's my testimony again Yes. 00:09:04.34\00:09:06.27 But I took a quarter out of the register, 00:09:06.31\00:09:07.64 and I go out and I say heads is going to be yes 00:09:07.68\00:09:09.54 and tails is going to be no. 00:09:09.58\00:09:11.11 And I get really, really firm with God. 00:09:11.15\00:09:13.52 I was like, if you're really going to talk to me, 00:09:13.55\00:09:15.75 you're going to reveal to me now 00:09:15.78\00:09:17.12 because I don't know what I'm doing, 00:09:17.15\00:09:18.49 I feel lost, I feel hopeless, all these things, 00:09:18.52\00:09:20.66 and obviously, this man just has all those things. 00:09:20.69\00:09:23.96 So you can give me those things, too. Yes. 00:09:23.99\00:09:26.09 So I started out with all those questions, are you real? 00:09:26.13\00:09:28.56 And I would flip that quarter, and would land on heads, 00:09:28.60\00:09:30.83 you know, time and time again. And I thought I'd be smart. 00:09:30.87\00:09:33.57 Like, I'd throw it through the same question, 00:09:33.60\00:09:36.14 just a different way. 00:09:36.17\00:09:37.51 It will still land on heads, you know, that kind of thing. 00:09:37.54\00:09:39.04 Wow. He was being that direct with me in those moments. 00:09:39.07\00:09:41.54 Yes. And it was really powerful. 00:09:41.58\00:09:44.25 And there's lots of great detail I can go into, 00:09:44.28\00:09:45.88 but that's when I really saw 00:09:45.91\00:09:48.02 that God had a purpose for me 00:09:48.05\00:09:50.89 that He wanted something more than when I was, 00:09:50.92\00:09:53.02 you know, going through at the moment. 00:09:53.05\00:09:55.46 But even then I wasn't ready, 00:09:55.49\00:09:56.86 and I kind of stepped away from it. 00:09:56.89\00:09:58.39 Yeah. Yeah. 00:09:58.43\00:09:59.76 We actually have a picture of you 00:09:59.79\00:10:01.30 when you were going through some dark times. 00:10:01.33\00:10:04.60 I want us to take a look. Yeah, there. 00:10:04.63\00:10:06.67 I would never, looking at you today, I don't see that guy. 00:10:06.70\00:10:10.64 But that is what's amazing about Christ. 00:10:10.67\00:10:13.44 Oh, yes. 00:10:13.48\00:10:14.81 You know, your countenance has changed 00:10:14.84\00:10:16.95 so much since that picture that we just saw. 00:10:16.98\00:10:19.45 And that's powerful the transformational power 00:10:19.48\00:10:22.98 of Christ in our lives. 00:10:23.02\00:10:25.32 So, Laura, what took place? 00:10:25.35\00:10:29.09 So you transition, you sat down with the guy, 00:10:29.12\00:10:32.39 you didn't want the fame, he was asking you, 00:10:32.43\00:10:34.83 you couldn't decide to go down that route, 00:10:34.86\00:10:37.17 you got sent to Fountainview Academy, 00:10:37.20\00:10:39.37 now take us from there? 00:10:39.40\00:10:41.54 So at Fountainview, you know, we had the choir, 00:10:41.57\00:10:44.44 the orchestra, the touring all the time. 00:10:44.47\00:10:46.81 So this is where I really was able to gain 00:10:46.84\00:10:48.94 a good foundation in music, and what you know, 00:10:48.98\00:10:52.71 traveling and all that would be like. 00:10:52.75\00:10:54.08 I didn't realize, 00:10:54.12\00:10:55.52 you know, what the plan was for the future 00:10:55.55\00:10:57.49 that I would be doing full time music ministry. 00:10:57.52\00:11:00.52 But I can look back at that now I can see 00:11:00.56\00:11:02.52 that God was completely preparing me for that. 00:11:02.56\00:11:05.06 Yes. And He taught me so many things there. 00:11:05.09\00:11:08.50 But, after I graduated, 00:11:08.53\00:11:13.17 all those feelings started to come back. 00:11:13.20\00:11:15.30 All that bitterness that I'd held on to before 00:11:15.34\00:11:18.57 getting so caught up in all the negatives, and just again, 00:11:18.61\00:11:21.94 not wanting anything to do with Christianity. 00:11:21.98\00:11:24.71 And so I spiraled into this extreme depression, 00:11:24.75\00:11:28.38 I became suicidal. 00:11:28.42\00:11:31.19 Just kind of like Ernie not really feeling like 00:11:31.22\00:11:35.12 I knew where I was going, or what my purpose was, 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.16 or anything like that. 00:11:37.19\00:11:39.89 But all the time, though, 00:11:39.93\00:11:41.43 you know, God was trying to speak to me, to reach me. 00:11:41.46\00:11:44.47 I can look back at it now and see it so clearly 00:11:44.50\00:11:47.04 how He was all the time, 00:11:47.07\00:11:48.90 you know, working to bring me back to Him. 00:11:48.94\00:11:51.74 And I regret so much now 00:11:51.77\00:11:55.04 that it took me so long to listen. 00:11:55.08\00:11:56.81 Yes. 00:11:56.85\00:11:58.58 But my coming back to Him wasn't in a single moment. 00:11:58.61\00:12:02.08 I can't say like, this is when it happened. 00:12:02.12\00:12:04.15 Yes. 00:12:04.19\00:12:05.52 But over several years, He worked on my heart. 00:12:05.55\00:12:08.02 And when I saw my brother gave His life to God, 00:12:08.06\00:12:12.19 that's what really sealed it for me 00:12:12.23\00:12:14.46 because I had prayed for my brother for years. 00:12:14.50\00:12:17.53 Whoa, whoa, whoa. 00:12:17.57\00:12:19.23 I got to slow it down right there. 00:12:19.27\00:12:20.84 So you were praying for your brother for years, 00:12:20.87\00:12:23.00 but you weren't right with the Lord at that time, 00:12:23.04\00:12:25.61 but you wanted to. 00:12:25.64\00:12:26.98 It's interesting how that works. 00:12:27.01\00:12:28.51 It is. Our brains are so funny sometimes as we are. 00:12:28.54\00:12:33.21 It's so hard to explain, 00:12:33.25\00:12:35.52 but what I can boil it down to 00:12:35.55\00:12:37.69 is that even though for myself, I wanted my own way, 00:12:37.72\00:12:41.29 and I was, you know, running away from God. 00:12:41.32\00:12:44.39 In my heart, I knew it was what was right, 00:12:44.43\00:12:46.90 and I still wanted it for him. 00:12:46.93\00:12:48.76 Yes. 00:12:48.80\00:12:50.33 But and then in the long run, you saw his conversion... 00:12:50.37\00:12:53.47 I saw his conversion. 00:12:53.50\00:12:54.87 And that led to you being converted 00:12:54.90\00:12:57.47 as well which is incredible. 00:12:57.51\00:12:59.67 How did you two meet? 00:12:59.71\00:13:01.34 Yeah, so ironically it picks up right there. 00:13:01.38\00:13:04.48 So Jeremy, your half brother. 00:13:04.51\00:13:07.38 He gave his life to God like a week before 00:13:07.42\00:13:09.55 and my best friend that I lived with when I was homeless, 00:13:09.58\00:13:12.89 those two years everything we went through thick and thin, 00:13:12.92\00:13:15.26 he got a job next door at the smoke shop. 00:13:15.29\00:13:17.99 So I was an avid pot smoker 00:13:18.03\00:13:19.39 then because obviously self-destructive behaviors, 00:13:19.43\00:13:21.90 but he ends up in a conversation 00:13:21.93\00:13:25.03 with Laura's brother in the back 00:13:25.07\00:13:27.14 while he's closing up shop. 00:13:27.17\00:13:28.64 And he talked for like three and a half hours. 00:13:28.67\00:13:30.84 So I'm up in the front and I decided to go over 00:13:30.87\00:13:33.51 to those front lobby of the pizza place. 00:13:33.54\00:13:35.94 And me and Laura start talking, and then Minda, 00:13:35.98\00:13:38.61 her brother's wife comes out, we just sat there 00:13:38.65\00:13:41.48 and we just all connected for like 00:13:41.52\00:13:42.85 that three and a half hours 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.22 and because I was going to college at the time, 00:13:44.25\00:13:46.12 and I needed a place to stay, 00:13:46.15\00:13:47.79 you know I would go there wait for him to get off work, 00:13:47.82\00:13:49.69 but I would spend all my time with at pizzeria, 00:13:49.72\00:13:51.63 you know, that's why I always get around. 00:13:51.66\00:13:53.76 So it wasn't the pizza that kept you in the pizzeria. 00:13:53.80\00:13:56.56 Yeah. I hear you. 00:13:56.60\00:13:59.33 That's incredible. 00:13:59.37\00:14:01.74 So how long have you all been in full time ministry? 00:14:01.77\00:14:04.97 Yeah. 00:14:05.01\00:14:06.34 So for me, it's been about 10 years 00:14:06.37\00:14:07.98 at full time music ministry. 00:14:08.01\00:14:10.21 And I've had Ernie with me. 00:14:10.25\00:14:11.68 We got married about five years ago. 00:14:11.71\00:14:14.05 And it's been a lot better, let me tell you. 00:14:14.08\00:14:16.58 It's much better that way. Nice. 00:14:16.62\00:14:18.22 You got your partner in your corner. 00:14:18.25\00:14:20.56 Right. 00:14:20.59\00:14:21.92 We actually have a picture of you two in action 00:14:21.96\00:14:23.29 and you can tell us where you are 00:14:23.32\00:14:24.66 and what's going on here. 00:14:24.69\00:14:26.23 It looks like Ernie is playing the guitar. 00:14:26.26\00:14:28.10 Yep. That's one of our concerts. 00:14:28.13\00:14:29.66 It's actually had a Revelation seminar 00:14:29.70\00:14:31.83 that we were closing up closing weekend 00:14:31.87\00:14:33.70 doing a concert for that. 00:14:33.74\00:14:35.07 Nice. 00:14:35.10\00:14:37.04 I want to transition back into your testimonies 00:14:37.07\00:14:40.51 and kind of finish that up 00:14:40.54\00:14:42.04 because I want people to see 00:14:42.08\00:14:44.88 the totality of what God has been doing in your lives. 00:14:44.91\00:14:49.15 Let's go to you, Laura. All right. 00:14:49.18\00:14:51.59 So I got to see my brother's life changed. 00:14:51.62\00:14:54.42 I saw that even while I was running from Him, 00:14:54.46\00:14:56.83 God was still hearing, 00:14:56.86\00:14:58.19 He was still answering my prayer, 00:14:58.23\00:14:59.66 and that just really solidified me coming back to Him. 00:14:59.69\00:15:03.50 And I realized that we can never look 00:15:03.53\00:15:07.87 at other people as our examples of Christ. 00:15:07.90\00:15:11.07 Christians can give Christianity a bad name. 00:15:11.11\00:15:13.91 I think we all know that. 00:15:13.94\00:15:15.54 But it's not about that. 00:15:15.58\00:15:16.91 It's not about looking at them. 00:15:16.95\00:15:18.28 It's we have to keep our eyes on Christ. 00:15:18.31\00:15:19.65 Yes. 00:15:19.68\00:15:21.02 And when we do that, we reflect His character to others, 00:15:21.05\00:15:23.92 and that's what it's all about. 00:15:23.95\00:15:25.35 And I saw that it is so much more satisfying to sing music 00:15:25.39\00:15:29.79 that can change a person's life 00:15:29.82\00:15:31.76 that can have an impact on them for eternity, 00:15:31.79\00:15:34.20 rather than maybe just a feel good song. 00:15:34.23\00:15:36.56 Amen. 00:15:36.60\00:15:38.77 And what about you, Ernie? 00:15:38.80\00:15:40.17 Yeah, my transition was when I kept coming 00:15:40.20\00:15:42.40 around the pizzeria, Laura would minister to me, 00:15:42.44\00:15:45.31 she tried to give me a Bible, 00:15:45.34\00:15:46.68 and I was still really reluctant about it. 00:15:46.71\00:15:48.94 But she invited me to some of her concerts in the area. 00:15:48.98\00:15:52.48 And that was just ministry of music 00:15:52.51\00:15:54.58 is just amazing to tell you the truth. 00:15:54.62\00:15:57.25 But there was a particular event 00:15:57.29\00:15:58.85 where she had to sing for a Revival seminar 00:15:58.89\00:16:02.96 put on by a pastor by the name of Jeremiah Davis. 00:16:02.99\00:16:05.29 Okay. 00:16:05.33\00:16:06.66 And I don't know if any viewers are familiar with him 00:16:06.70\00:16:08.40 and his ministry. 00:16:08.43\00:16:09.76 But the way he goes about preaching is very, 00:16:09.80\00:16:12.23 very aggressive. 00:16:12.27\00:16:13.70 It's like very militant drill sergeant, 00:16:13.74\00:16:15.60 kind of aggressive. 00:16:15.64\00:16:17.01 And that's what I needed to hear. 00:16:17.04\00:16:19.34 Because the way I was living my life was also aggressive, 00:16:19.37\00:16:22.74 it was abrasive, it was harsh, 00:16:22.78\00:16:24.41 you know, all that kind of stuff. 00:16:24.45\00:16:25.78 So when he was presenting the Word of God in the way 00:16:25.81\00:16:28.02 that I could understand, in the way 00:16:28.05\00:16:29.78 that I've always understood the world, 00:16:29.82\00:16:31.69 you know, it was powerful, and it was transformative. 00:16:31.72\00:16:34.32 And then Laura took me home 00:16:34.36\00:16:36.39 to meet her parents for the first time, 00:16:36.42\00:16:38.23 put me through a 10 day detox, full body detox kind of thing. 00:16:38.26\00:16:41.73 And it was terrible. 00:16:41.76\00:16:43.20 It was awful, you know, five days of not eating food 00:16:43.23\00:16:45.80 and charcoal and parasite killers 00:16:45.83\00:16:48.67 and bug killers and all this kind of stuff. 00:16:48.70\00:16:50.64 But sure enough, you know, as bad as I felt, 00:16:50.67\00:16:53.71 and I really did feel terrible during that detox. 00:16:53.74\00:16:56.64 I needed to get rid of all the substance abuse 00:16:56.68\00:16:59.05 that I was doing with my body and the drinking, 00:16:59.08\00:17:00.82 the smoking, all that kind of stuff. 00:17:00.85\00:17:02.82 But the fifth day I kneeled next to the bed, 00:17:02.85\00:17:05.59 and I just started to talk to God again, 00:17:05.62\00:17:07.29 like I did when I was flipping the quarter. 00:17:07.32\00:17:09.26 But this time, I was all in. 00:17:09.29\00:17:11.06 I wasn't trying to run away from Him anymore. 00:17:11.09\00:17:13.43 I knew He had a purpose, and I knew He was leading. 00:17:13.46\00:17:15.80 And I was ready to embrace Him, and He was ready to embrace me, 00:17:15.83\00:17:18.93 and I've never been the same. 00:17:18.97\00:17:20.50 That's beautiful. That is beautiful. 00:17:20.54\00:17:22.94 Did you ever think that you would be doing 00:17:22.97\00:17:25.47 what you do right now? 00:17:25.51\00:17:28.41 What do you think? 00:17:28.44\00:17:30.08 Not like this. No. 00:17:30.11\00:17:33.15 It's been amazing. 00:17:33.18\00:17:34.52 You kind of imagine God always has a better plan for us 00:17:34.55\00:17:36.99 than we have for ourselves. 00:17:37.02\00:17:38.72 Amen. 00:17:38.75\00:17:40.49 And then did you ever think that you would have a wife 00:17:40.52\00:17:43.79 that you could be in full time ministry with as well? 00:17:43.83\00:17:46.16 Yeah, no, I've never thought about that. 00:17:46.19\00:17:48.36 I don't know where I would be without God. 00:17:48.40\00:17:50.57 I think I would be in the music industry 00:17:50.60\00:17:52.30 just doing live sound or something. 00:17:52.33\00:17:54.37 But this is so much more fulfilling. 00:17:54.40\00:17:58.01 And you know, that kind of thing. 00:17:58.04\00:17:59.37 It really filled the void I was trying to fill with the world. 00:17:59.41\00:18:02.78 Jesus has come and done so much for both of our lives. 00:18:02.81\00:18:05.71 Praise God. There's no better story. 00:18:05.75\00:18:08.72 What are some, maybe some miracle stories 00:18:08.75\00:18:11.72 that you can share with me as far as like, 00:18:11.75\00:18:16.93 you know, you've been traveling, 00:18:16.96\00:18:18.29 you've been going to different places, 00:18:18.33\00:18:20.60 and you've taken that journey of faith? 00:18:20.63\00:18:23.93 What are some things that you've noticed in that journey? 00:18:23.97\00:18:27.44 Oh, man, there's so many stories. 00:18:27.47\00:18:30.04 We be here for hours, countless stories. 00:18:30.07\00:18:34.14 But what we have learned through experience 00:18:34.18\00:18:36.61 after experience is that we can always rely on God. 00:18:36.64\00:18:40.72 If we are focused on serving Him, 00:18:40.75\00:18:43.22 working for Him, putting our best, 00:18:43.25\00:18:46.29 He takes care of the rest. 00:18:46.32\00:18:47.82 We don't need to worry about things He provides, 00:18:47.86\00:18:50.29 and He makes a way 00:18:50.33\00:18:51.96 where it doesn't seem like there is one. 00:18:51.99\00:18:54.30 Wow. Amen. 00:18:54.33\00:18:56.73 And, Ernie, you've covered a lot of miles 00:18:56.77\00:18:59.00 driving all of that stuff. 00:18:59.03\00:19:01.57 In fact, the transmission went out then. 00:19:01.60\00:19:04.47 Tell us a little bit about that? 00:19:04.51\00:19:06.74 Yeah. 00:19:06.78\00:19:08.11 And not even a little while ago. 00:19:08.14\00:19:09.48 That's kind of why we're here is 00:19:09.51\00:19:10.85 because our transmission failed. 00:19:10.88\00:19:12.21 So glad you brought us on the show. 00:19:12.25\00:19:13.58 But yeah, that just came out of left field for us, 00:19:13.62\00:19:15.85 and we needed to know what we were going to do 00:19:15.88\00:19:18.42 all that kind of stuff. 00:19:18.45\00:19:19.79 But the way God set everything up for us to be here. 00:19:19.82\00:19:21.86 We did the concert, and whatnot. 00:19:21.89\00:19:24.23 I mean, it was providential. 00:19:24.26\00:19:25.59 We needed some downtime, because we have future albums 00:19:25.63\00:19:28.50 that me and Laura working on that we're trying to finish, 00:19:28.53\00:19:30.67 you know. Yes. 00:19:30.70\00:19:32.03 And I didn't have any time with a tour. 00:19:32.07\00:19:33.60 We're booked three, five times a week sometimes. 00:19:33.64\00:19:37.01 Wow. 00:19:37.04\00:19:38.37 We're on the road for the next seven months. 00:19:38.41\00:19:39.74 So it's... Wow. 00:19:39.77\00:19:41.11 Got long ways to go. Yeah. 00:19:41.14\00:19:42.48 Very intense. 00:19:42.51\00:19:43.85 It's not the first time the car has given us problems. 00:19:43.88\00:19:45.21 Before we even left on the store, 00:19:45.25\00:19:46.75 we had a timing belt problem. 00:19:46.78\00:19:48.82 We had no way to pay for it. We had nothing. 00:19:48.85\00:19:51.39 And we made the appointment, we figured out the price, 00:19:51.42\00:19:54.59 and the next day somebody had given us donation 00:19:54.62\00:19:56.79 to cover the cost. 00:19:56.83\00:19:58.16 Exact same price. Exact same price. 00:19:58.19\00:19:59.53 Wow. 00:19:59.56\00:20:00.90 So like we've had that time and time again 00:20:00.93\00:20:02.26 and in other in different ways, 00:20:02.30\00:20:03.63 but God is always there for about doing His work. 00:20:03.67\00:20:06.77 Praise God. 00:20:06.80\00:20:09.14 Let's talk about some of the projects that are taking place. 00:20:09.17\00:20:11.97 What are some projects, upcoming projects, 00:20:12.01\00:20:14.48 and maybe projects that you've done in the past? 00:20:14.51\00:20:17.51 Well, our upcoming projects, there's just so many. 00:20:17.55\00:20:23.28 We actually have three CDs 00:20:23.32\00:20:24.85 that are on the verge of coming out. 00:20:24.89\00:20:26.22 Okay. 00:20:26.25\00:20:27.59 'Cause I have a hard time 00:20:27.62\00:20:28.96 sticking to one thing in a time. 00:20:28.99\00:20:30.33 But the CD that is just, 00:20:30.36\00:20:31.93 you know, almost within days 00:20:31.96\00:20:33.29 of completion is a fully original album. 00:20:33.33\00:20:36.53 That's all songs that I've written, 00:20:36.56\00:20:38.37 that Ernie has written. 00:20:38.40\00:20:39.73 And the other one right behind it is a scripture song CD. 00:20:39.77\00:20:43.71 So it's specifically made scripture songs 00:20:43.74\00:20:46.47 for the last days. 00:20:46.51\00:20:47.84 Nice. 00:20:47.88\00:20:49.21 So that 'cause I think it's so important, 00:20:49.24\00:20:50.58 you know, right now, especially for people to be able 00:20:50.61\00:20:52.55 to memorize these scriptures, these promises. 00:20:52.58\00:20:55.02 Yes. 00:20:55.05\00:20:56.38 So we're trying to get that one out. 00:20:56.42\00:20:57.75 Absolutely. 00:20:57.79\00:20:59.12 I think we have a picture if I'm not mistaken. 00:20:59.15\00:21:00.52 We have a picture of those. 00:21:00.56\00:21:02.36 I love the covers on the album. 00:21:02.39\00:21:04.56 It's such a peaceful type of scene. 00:21:04.59\00:21:06.49 What are some other aspects of your ministry? 00:21:06.53\00:21:10.83 Do you want to take that? Sure, I'll take that. 00:21:10.87\00:21:12.23 Yeah, we do kind of two things primarily, obviously, 00:21:12.27\00:21:15.64 Laura does music. 00:21:15.67\00:21:17.01 She's a fantastic singer, whatnot. 00:21:17.04\00:21:18.41 But the Lord impressed upon me to get into video work 00:21:18.44\00:21:20.64 and photography. 00:21:20.68\00:21:22.01 And that involves doing music videos, 00:21:22.04\00:21:24.55 promos, working with other evangelists and pastors, 00:21:24.58\00:21:27.88 getting stories and testimonies and like the raw movies, 00:21:27.92\00:21:32.25 kind of cinematic way kind of filmed 00:21:32.29\00:21:34.59 and the Lord has been good to us and that kind of thing. 00:21:34.62\00:21:37.26 Praise God. 00:21:37.29\00:21:38.63 You look like you're going to say something, Laura? 00:21:38.66\00:21:40.20 Yeah. 00:21:40.23\00:21:41.56 We tend to travel more than we're home. 00:21:41.60\00:21:43.30 So we stay on the road probably eight to nine months out 00:21:43.33\00:21:46.53 of the year, typically, and just do concerts 00:21:46.57\00:21:49.07 and evangelistic meetings, things like that. 00:21:49.10\00:21:52.07 Nice. Yes. 00:21:52.11\00:21:53.44 What would you say is your favorite thing 00:21:53.48\00:21:55.14 about doing ministry? 00:21:55.18\00:21:56.51 Yeah. 00:21:56.54\00:21:57.88 I mean, just seeing people's lives transformed, I mean... 00:21:57.91\00:22:01.42 That's it, yeah. 00:22:01.45\00:22:02.78 We've heard so many testimonies. 00:22:02.82\00:22:04.15 And I mean, it just, if you think about it, 00:22:04.19\00:22:07.32 I mean, if I were to think about it, 00:22:07.36\00:22:08.69 I'd just get overwhelmed with how many incredibly cool people 00:22:08.72\00:22:11.76 we've met, and like, their stories 00:22:11.79\00:22:14.03 and what they've gone through, and how God has, 00:22:14.06\00:22:15.66 you know, redeemed them and changed them just like me, 00:22:15.70\00:22:17.63 like my story, you know? 00:22:17.67\00:22:19.00 Yes. And it's just powerful. 00:22:19.03\00:22:20.54 And that's the best part. 00:22:20.57\00:22:22.60 There's nothing like finishing a concert 00:22:22.64\00:22:24.47 and having someone come up to you in tears and saying, 00:22:24.51\00:22:26.64 like, "I just really related to what you shared here," 00:22:26.68\00:22:29.48 or they have a similar story. 00:22:29.51\00:22:31.85 But they just, they weren't sure 00:22:31.88\00:22:33.42 if they wanted to fully commit. 00:22:33.45\00:22:34.78 Yes. 00:22:34.82\00:22:36.15 And then, but they decide to, like things like that, 00:22:36.18\00:22:38.39 it's just, 00:22:38.42\00:22:39.75 there's a lot of discouraging days in ministry. 00:22:39.79\00:22:41.62 Yes. But it's things like that just, it's so worth it. 00:22:41.66\00:22:45.03 And it's always worth it. 00:22:45.06\00:22:46.39 Amen. Absolutely. 00:22:46.43\00:22:47.76 And ministry is one of those things 00:22:47.80\00:22:49.33 where you don't see the full impact until we get to heaven. 00:22:49.36\00:22:54.30 Right. Yes. 00:22:54.34\00:22:55.67 And that's going to be a beautiful, beautiful day. 00:22:55.70\00:22:58.07 Absolutely. 00:22:58.11\00:22:59.44 What are some of the needs of your ministry? 00:22:59.47\00:23:01.71 Because I know there's a lot 00:23:01.74\00:23:03.65 that goes into making all of this happen. 00:23:03.68\00:23:06.61 What are some of the needs? 00:23:06.65\00:23:08.68 Well, right now we're actually just about 00:23:08.72\00:23:10.75 to finish building our own home and studio. 00:23:10.79\00:23:13.82 So we're going to have a full studio, video and audio. 00:23:13.86\00:23:17.13 So right now we're working to start equipping that studio. 00:23:17.16\00:23:21.53 At the same time, you know, 00:23:21.56\00:23:22.93 to produce all these projects that we have, 00:23:22.96\00:23:25.27 we have our own recording equipment. 00:23:25.30\00:23:26.70 So that saves a ton. Yes. 00:23:26.74\00:23:29.14 It's incredible. 00:23:29.17\00:23:30.77 But you know, the production costs, 00:23:30.81\00:23:32.61 the copyrights, all that kind of thing. 00:23:32.64\00:23:34.01 Yes. Yes. 00:23:34.04\00:23:35.64 Okay. 00:23:35.68\00:23:37.01 And if someone wants to, 00:23:37.05\00:23:38.45 let's say they want to book you, 00:23:38.48\00:23:40.78 or if they want to help support, 00:23:40.82\00:23:42.75 we have your contact information. 00:23:42.78\00:23:44.95 We're going to put that up. 00:23:44.99\00:23:46.32 And, Laura, I'll have you read that for us. 00:23:46.35\00:23:49.22 So we'll take a look at that. Yeah. 00:23:49.26\00:23:51.63 So if you want to reach out to us for any reason, 00:23:51.66\00:23:54.36 booking, donations, you can visit my website, 00:23:54.40\00:23:58.00 laurawilliamsmusic.com 00:23:58.03\00:24:00.50 You can write to us at PO Box 58, 00:24:00.54\00:24:02.94 Addy, Washington 99101. 00:24:02.97\00:24:06.78 Ernie's website for New Creation Media 00:24:06.81\00:24:08.88 is also newcreation. media 00:24:08.91\00:24:12.45 All right. 00:24:12.48\00:24:13.82 How has being, in full time ministry 00:24:13.85\00:24:16.02 how has it strengthened your faith? 00:24:16.05\00:24:18.32 Ernie? Oh my, that is another tough question. 00:24:18.35\00:24:21.56 To tell the truth, 00:24:21.59\00:24:22.92 I think the best part of our traveling ministry 00:24:22.96\00:24:25.59 is that I've gotten to work 00:24:25.63\00:24:27.66 closely with really strong speakers. 00:24:27.70\00:24:29.96 It's really amazing, you know, 00:24:30.00\00:24:31.67 ministers and evangelists and all that kind of stuff. 00:24:31.70\00:24:34.64 And being around that environment all the time, 00:24:34.67\00:24:37.37 it rubs off on you. 00:24:37.41\00:24:38.74 Yes. 00:24:38.77\00:24:40.11 And I've seen even sometimes when I speak 00:24:40.14\00:24:41.48 or share something you know, I picked it up 00:24:41.51\00:24:43.35 because I witness someone else do it that kind of thing. 00:24:43.38\00:24:45.78 The edifying of the work, you know, 00:24:45.81\00:24:47.28 because of others you know, commitment to Christ. 00:24:47.32\00:24:49.75 This has been an amazing but there's so much like just 00:24:49.78\00:24:53.15 to hearing the stories from others is strengthening 00:24:53.19\00:24:55.12 my faith that what I'm sharing 00:24:55.16\00:24:57.13 and I do get very vulnerable in our concert. 00:24:57.16\00:24:59.83 I most of the time cry, you know, that kind of thing, 00:24:59.86\00:25:01.83 but it's so real to me. 00:25:01.86\00:25:03.77 And it's so real to people that listen to. 00:25:03.80\00:25:05.33 And there's a lot of people that are experiencing, 00:25:05.37\00:25:07.94 you know, those hardships, and there's a lot of young kids 00:25:07.97\00:25:10.01 that are still self-hurting, 00:25:10.04\00:25:12.27 you know, things like the same way I did, 00:25:12.31\00:25:14.88 and that kind of thing. 00:25:14.91\00:25:16.28 So, ministry will change you. 00:25:16.31\00:25:18.05 If you're not already changed, it will continue to change you. 00:25:18.08\00:25:20.38 Amen. What about you, Laura? 00:25:20.42\00:25:23.02 How has being in full time ministry 00:25:23.05\00:25:24.85 strengthened your faith? 00:25:24.89\00:25:26.99 Just with all the experiences, all those moments, 00:25:27.02\00:25:30.33 you know, where you come to a point 00:25:30.36\00:25:31.73 where you don't know what's going to happen next, 00:25:31.76\00:25:34.13 you know, you can't of yourself, 00:25:34.16\00:25:37.03 you know, fix the problem. 00:25:37.07\00:25:38.40 Yes.
