So I got into the
entertainment industry

at a young age around 19.

I had this aspiration to
be in the hip hop industry,

and started working with
some different individuals.

And I came to find out
that I had some friends

I came to
understand very quickly,

that that's not true.

We were definitely made a
little lower than the angels.

not wrestling against flesh

and blood that we can just
tame at our own personal whims.

So what was
your upbringing like?

raised in the church?

I was raised in a
Christian household.

My parents were very much
so involved in the church,

very loving parents.

They tried to make sure that

my brother and
my sister, myself,

received Christian education.

We even had morning
worship, evening worship.

You know, they really did
try to inculcate within us

Christian
principles, biblical principles.

But unfortunately,
I had other plans.

how it is sometimes,

unfortunately, young
people in the church,

they're looking outside
of the church thinking that

there are things in
the world that are better

than the thing that had been
presented to us by our parents,

and that we're
getting in the church.

And so, there was a
series of events that took place

that pretty much
brought me to a position

where I became sour
on God, if you will.

You know, God
wasn't my magic genie.

He didn't do what
I wanted Him to do

when I wanted Him to do it.

And so I just made a
decision, in my mind,

at very young age that
I wasn't going to follow

that path anymore.

I did believe in
God, never denounced

the reality of the Creator,
it just logically made sense

that I didn't
come from an animal.

I had to be made by an

theory of evolution

was a non factor with me,

but I just made the decision
that even though God is real,

that's just not going
to be my path in this life.

for a good period
of time in my life.

a hold of your life?

transition take place?

where the contracts

and big opportunities

were being presented to me,

not only for the movie industry,

but also in the music industry,

which was really
what my heartbeat was for.

And because during that time,

just living a
particular lifestyle

really ministered
to you having the...

How could I say that?

The facade that was to
go along with all that,

that lifestyle entailed,
I was selling a lot of drugs

at that time as well.

And I was in uptown

Manhattan one day picking up
00:08:11.45\00:08:15.26
some drugs from a supplier.
00:08:15.29\00:08:19.43
And I just, I was
totally not at peace

with what was
going on in my life.
00:08:24.53\00:08:26.47
I knew that there was this power
00:08:26.50\00:08:29.74
that was in control of me that,
00:08:29.77\00:08:32.07
that I didn't have control of,
00:08:32.11\00:08:33.94
and every outside
00:08:33.98\00:08:39.11
to all of my friends,
00:08:39.15\00:08:40.48
everything was going
in the right direction.

But within I knew
everything was going

in the wrong direction.

And so that day, I
found myself in a very known,

well-known park
in uptown Manhattan.

I sat down and I went to
start smoking some marijuana.

But as I lit up,

I heard the voice
of the Spirit of God.

And, of course, now I
know it was the Spirit of God,

saying to me, "Chris, you
need to stop selling the drugs."

And I just said, "You know what,

I'm going to stop
selling the drugs."

to stop smoking."

And I said, "I'm going to school

to become a preacher."

And it was, it was really,
I always just describe it

as my Damascus Road experience,

because it was
that much of an abrupt

out of an ordinary series,
you know, situation for myself.

It wasn't something
that I was expecting.

But the Lord
evidently was just helping me

to see that the
path that I was going on

was not the path

that was going to
bring me the peace

and the joy that
I was looking for.

And so when the Spirit of
God began to speak with me,

I just had this firm
conviction in my heart

that if I just
responded in the affirmative

after you came to the Lord?

invested so much time and energy

successful in the music industry

that wasn't going to be my path.

That's the thought that I had.

And so now I
found myself trying to,

you know, make
a wave for myself,

but I really didn't
know where to begin.

events took place,

but ultimately, I
ended up homeless.

And so I started just

to me via messages on YouTube

And the Lord just
impressed in my mind and said,

that people in the world

were going to support me.
