and downhill mountain

first trip they went on

guys form the team?

of our experience and training

in Lincoln, Nebraska.

And it was a brand new
degree program at that time,

International Rescue and Relief.

And it was an incredible
degree because it was practical

and it was hands on.

And so young people
flocked to this degree

from all over the
world because like, wow,

I can do this with my education,

I can go and learn rescue skills

spend half my semester over
or my full semester overseas,

And so that's where we

And yet, you know, I walked away

from what I had learned

and what I've
been taught to live

a selfish existence in
college, and I did my own thing,

and that was just,

it was just an empty experience.

I mean, I not
only injured myself

but also harmed a
lot of people around me.

the Lord picked
up all those pieces

and finally got
through my thick skull

and a plan for you

where it all began.

struggled with this concept

to like pastoral work,

"Oh, that's just for the pastors

Like I wanna have
an adventurous life.

I want to do things
that are exciting and fun.

And here, God has just
blown us out of the water.

never been a dull mission.

the Lord has an incredible plan

lives, the clock starts ticking

in which they're in need

not only a
physical help perhaps,

but even more importantly
of spiritual help and guidance,

and they're open.

Yeah, it's interesting,
because it seems like,

you know, in the time
of a crisis or tragedy,

people either draw closer to God

or they blame

going further away.

individual that is, you know,

blaming God for tragedy?

That's such a big question
that you see a lot, you know.

If we serve a such a great God,

then why is it that
we see such great tragedy

and adversity in
the world around us?

honest, it's not an easy,

it's not an easy answer.

But biblically speaking,

we have an
incredible foundation.

Because when you
look at the Bible

from beginning to end,

what you see is this controversy

that is waging
between good and between evil,

between Christ
and between Satan.

And you begin to recognize that
God is not the author of evil,

but that He is the
one who wants to save us,

and be our rescuer,
if we would be willing.

to enter this conversation,

from that
perspective, and especially

examples in the Bible.

it's like, wow, like,

maybe there is a
controversy raging.

Maybe that's why

we're seeing such things happen.
