Did you know that there were 00:00:01.33\00:00:02.66 ancient African secrets unlocked 00:00:02.70\00:00:04.03 even as the slave trade was expanding 00:00:04.07\00:00:06.27 from Europe to the Americas? 00:00:06.30\00:00:08.20 Do you wanna hear some of those secrets? 00:00:08.24\00:00:10.94 Well, stay tune to hear about that and more. 00:00:10.97\00:00:13.84 My name is Yvonne Lewis 00:00:13.88\00:00:15.48 and you're watching Urban Report. 00:00:15.51\00:00:17.61 Hello, and welcome to Urban Report. 00:00:44.61\00:00:46.81 My guest today is Dr. Joel Freeman, 00:00:46.84\00:00:49.54 co-author along with Don Griffin 00:00:49.58\00:00:51.45 of "Return to Glory, 00:00:51.48\00:00:53.45 the Powerful Stirring of the Black Man." 00:00:53.48\00:00:56.08 Dr. Freeman is a historian 00:00:56.12\00:00:57.75 and committed to sharing the truth 00:00:57.79\00:00:59.85 about the black man's role and contributions to our world. 00:00:59.89\00:01:03.69 Welcome to Urban Report, Dr. Joel. 00:01:03.73\00:01:06.43 Yay! 00:01:06.46\00:01:07.93 It's good to be here with you. 00:01:07.96\00:01:09.70 I can't believe, I finally, have you. 00:01:09.73\00:01:13.13 If the viewers knew how hard I've been trying to get to you, 00:01:13.17\00:01:15.94 you are such a busy man. 00:01:15.97\00:01:18.04 But we appreciate you being here. Thank you. 00:01:18.07\00:01:20.54 Even if it's by Skype, we've got you. 00:01:20.61\00:01:25.15 So may I call you Joe? I'm looking forward to it. 00:01:25.18\00:01:27.18 Thank you. May I call you Joe? 00:01:27.25\00:01:30.02 Absolutely. Can I call you Yvonne? 00:01:30.05\00:01:31.39 Absolutely, for sure. My pleasure. 00:01:31.42\00:01:33.59 So okay, Joel, 00:01:33.62\00:01:34.96 let's just get rid of the elephant in the room. 00:01:34.99\00:01:37.46 What's a white guy doing, 00:01:37.49\00:01:39.89 really digging into black history? 00:01:39.93\00:01:42.53 What led you into that? 00:01:42.56\00:01:45.63 Well, it's... 00:01:45.67\00:01:47.04 A number of years ago I got involved in... 00:01:47.07\00:01:50.81 I was from Canada, left home when I was 17. 00:01:50.84\00:01:54.31 Long haired hippie, hitchhiked by five or six thousand miles 00:01:54.34\00:01:58.01 around North America. 00:01:58.05\00:01:59.61 When I came to United States, it was kind of, like, 00:01:59.65\00:02:04.79 what's going on down here? 00:02:04.82\00:02:06.45 I couldn't quite grasp how it all fit together. 00:02:06.49\00:02:10.46 And so what happened is I became a pastor, 00:02:10.49\00:02:14.66 I became chaplain for 00:02:14.73\00:02:16.03 the Washington Bullets/Wizards in the NBA. 00:02:16.06\00:02:19.17 And some of the players, what they would do is, 00:02:19.20\00:02:22.97 they would ask me questions about, 00:02:23.00\00:02:24.81 you know, 'cause they're in a position 00:02:24.84\00:02:27.58 where they're kind of in a spot 00:02:27.61\00:02:30.58 where people are looking at them funny 00:02:30.65\00:02:33.08 and their position attracts sincere people 00:02:33.11\00:02:35.95 and insincere agendas. 00:02:35.98\00:02:37.79 And so they were kind of testing me out. 00:02:37.82\00:02:40.56 And so one of the things that they looked at is, 00:02:40.59\00:02:44.43 "what did Jesus look like?" 00:02:44.46\00:02:45.86 They want to know about that. 00:02:45.89\00:02:47.23 They want to know about some other things 00:02:47.30\00:02:48.63 about ancient African history 00:02:48.66\00:02:50.07 and how people of African descent 00:02:50.13\00:02:51.93 fit into Biblical history, and also external history. 00:02:51.97\00:02:56.30 What happened with me is that I just became 00:02:56.34\00:03:00.81 a very intervention or I didn't have a clue, 00:03:00.84\00:03:04.28 I didn't know what to say to them. 00:03:04.35\00:03:06.25 And so what happened was, I began to research. 00:03:06.28\00:03:10.29 I began to study very hard about these things 00:03:10.32\00:03:14.26 because they would ask questions, 00:03:14.29\00:03:15.62 I don't know what response to that and... 00:03:15.66\00:03:18.06 but, you know, maybe next time we get together 00:03:18.09\00:03:19.96 I might have some type of response. 00:03:20.00\00:03:22.50 Then that's really what happened. 00:03:22.53\00:03:24.43 And later, we fast forward to, when I met Don Griffin, 00:03:24.47\00:03:28.00 who was the co-author as you mentioned of book, 00:03:28.04\00:03:30.91 the film, "Return to Glory." 00:03:30.97\00:03:32.97 And what happened is that 00:03:33.01\00:03:34.44 Don began to share some things with me, 00:03:34.48\00:03:37.65 I was doing some leadership training 00:03:37.71\00:03:39.68 for his company up in New York City. 00:03:39.71\00:03:43.28 And so it was a program called 00:03:43.32\00:03:45.09 "Dealing with People Who Drive You Crazy." 00:03:45.12\00:03:47.96 I like that. 00:03:47.99\00:03:50.13 And between sessions, I've found out very quickly 00:03:50.19\00:03:53.96 that he was a follower of Jesus as I was. 00:03:54.00\00:03:57.70 And then he began to communicate with me 00:03:57.73\00:04:00.64 some things from Isaiah Chapter 18. 00:04:00.67\00:04:04.07 Now I had done a series on the Book of Isaiah 00:04:04.11\00:04:06.47 and I never saw what he communicated. 00:04:06.51\00:04:09.24 Isaiah 18 talks, 00:04:09.28\00:04:12.05 this is in the Freeman translation. 00:04:12.08\00:04:13.88 It talks about people from beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, 00:04:13.92\00:04:17.45 tall, smoother skin, awesome to be feared 00:04:17.49\00:04:21.12 from the beginning onwards. 00:04:21.16\00:04:22.49 Of course, Jimmy says, they are terrible 00:04:22.52\00:04:25.99 from the beginning on the word. 00:04:26.03\00:04:27.40 So that particular phrase 00:04:27.46\00:04:29.43 is what's really, really grabbed me, 00:04:29.46\00:04:32.13 terrible from the beginning on. 00:04:32.17\00:04:34.10 So I began to look in original Hebrew. 00:04:34.17\00:04:36.67 And I know enough original Hebrew 00:04:36.71\00:04:38.71 and Greek to be dangerous. 00:04:38.74\00:04:40.41 And so what happened is I began to take a look 00:04:40.44\00:04:45.48 at what that phrase meant because I figured the Bible 00:04:45.51\00:04:48.85 is not given to hyperbole or exaggeration, 00:04:48.88\00:04:51.52 and so there must be some extra Biblical information 00:04:51.55\00:04:54.86 that corroborates that they're terrible, 00:04:54.89\00:04:58.03 to be feared from the beginning onward. 00:04:58.06\00:05:00.90 So that's really what hunched me. 00:05:00.93\00:05:02.40 It wasn't the social or the justice issue 00:05:02.43\00:05:04.23 that pulled me in, 00:05:04.30\00:05:05.63 that was the caboose of the train. 00:05:05.67\00:05:07.00 The engine was Biblical dynamics. 00:05:07.04\00:05:09.60 And that's where it all began. All that stuff came later. 00:05:09.64\00:05:12.41 I love it. 00:05:12.44\00:05:13.81 You know, one of the things that 00:05:13.84\00:05:18.91 I'm impressed with is the abs... 00:05:18.95\00:05:24.02 I'm not impressed by it in a positive way, 00:05:24.05\00:05:26.05 I'm concerned. 00:05:26.09\00:05:27.89 I think that's a better word. 00:05:27.92\00:05:29.26 Concerned about the seeming absence 00:05:29.29\00:05:35.00 of black presence in the Bible. 00:05:35.03\00:05:38.30 Now there, it's not absent, 00:05:38.33\00:05:43.91 it's just that it's never been taught. 00:05:43.94\00:05:46.01 I think, I need to specify that 00:05:46.04\00:05:48.34 because it makes it seem as though, 00:05:48.38\00:05:51.15 we're not there, now we are there 00:05:51.18\00:05:53.62 but been taught that way. 00:05:53.65\00:05:56.75 And so, it's very interesting to hear, 00:05:56.79\00:06:01.72 and unless you really do your own digging 00:06:01.76\00:06:04.39 and study for yourself 00:06:04.46\00:06:05.79 and then you realize certain things 00:06:05.83\00:06:07.23 about various groups of people in the Bible. 00:06:07.23\00:06:10.03 If you don't do that, 00:06:10.07\00:06:11.40 you think black people weren't even in the Bible, 00:06:11.43\00:06:13.17 that everybody was white. 00:06:13.20\00:06:14.54 That is the way it's presented 00:06:14.57\00:06:17.41 in our schools and institutions. 00:06:17.44\00:06:21.31 And so that's why I find it very fascinating 00:06:21.38\00:06:23.95 that you as a white man 00:06:23.98\00:06:25.75 have really dug into this and you found out 00:06:25.78\00:06:28.65 more than just what, you know, the surface information is. 00:06:28.68\00:06:33.89 So what did you find 00:06:33.96\00:06:36.29 when you did some more digging on this Isaiah 18? 00:06:36.32\00:06:41.06 What did you find? 00:06:41.10\00:06:43.53 Well, in the beginning it talks about a rise of 00:06:43.57\00:06:47.34 and then a fall of epic proportion. 00:06:47.40\00:06:50.57 And of course, it's talking about 00:06:50.61\00:06:52.31 an ethnically specific group of people, 00:06:52.34\00:06:54.68 a geographically specific group of people. 00:06:54.71\00:06:57.51 And this rise and fall, 00:06:57.55\00:06:59.48 and then it talks later on about a return to glory. 00:06:59.51\00:07:03.39 And I don't know what that looks like, 00:07:03.42\00:07:05.92 or what that means, but all I know is that there, 00:07:05.95\00:07:09.62 that coupled with a verse in Zephaniah and Psalm 68, 00:07:09.66\00:07:13.26 some other passages of scripture. 00:07:13.29\00:07:15.70 It seems to indicate that the Lord has not forgotten 00:07:15.73\00:07:19.07 the people from African descent 00:07:19.10\00:07:21.04 with all the terrible things that have happened. 00:07:21.10\00:07:24.27 And it's, by the way its impossible to exaggerate 00:07:24.31\00:07:27.84 when trying to describe 00:07:27.88\00:07:29.21 the horrific nature of the slave trade, 00:07:29.24\00:07:31.41 slavery, Jim Crow laws, 00:07:31.45\00:07:34.78 The Black Code Laws lynching 00:07:34.82\00:07:37.65 and these other thing that have happened. 00:07:37.69\00:07:40.06 But it is just God is one that has not forgotten 00:07:40.09\00:07:45.69 and is very much involved 00:07:45.73\00:07:47.76 I believe in bringing and return to glory. 00:07:47.86\00:07:51.20 So that, I began to then study about people of nations 00:07:51.23\00:07:55.40 in Genesis Chapter 10. 00:07:55.44\00:07:57.24 There are 70 nations in all. 00:07:57.27\00:07:59.61 And actually, Ham, and Shem, and Japheth, 00:07:59.64\00:08:03.71 you have more nations with Ham than the other two combined. 00:08:03.75\00:08:10.12 And what's fascinating is that, 00:08:10.15\00:08:12.05 you can see the way gene flow loose. 00:08:12.09\00:08:15.32 And then, of course, we have the whole Lemba people. 00:08:15.36\00:08:20.56 I don't know if you have done any research about the Lemba, 00:08:20.60\00:08:24.90 but there is this theory, the Eve, the common Eve theory. 00:08:24.93\00:08:31.37 Now we believe in Eve as a theological, 00:08:31.44\00:08:33.78 from the theological perspective, 00:08:33.81\00:08:35.71 but just from biological perspective, 00:08:35.74\00:08:38.01 mother of all living. 00:08:38.08\00:08:40.12 How the gene flow has moved through Eve, to Noah, 00:08:40.15\00:08:44.85 to his wife, Misses Noah, and the kids, 00:08:44.89\00:08:47.39 and then you begin to move throughout the entire earth. 00:08:47.42\00:08:50.69 It's a whole another fascinating discussion. 00:08:50.76\00:08:52.79 Wow! 00:08:52.83\00:08:54.13 So, okay, so what do you say to people who say that, 00:08:54.20\00:08:59.37 you know, Ham was cursed, 00:08:59.40\00:09:02.30 and so then the whole black race 00:09:02.34\00:09:05.31 was cursed? 00:09:05.34\00:09:06.91 What do you say about that? 00:09:06.94\00:09:09.61 Well, actually the curse was not on Ham, 00:09:09.64\00:09:12.41 it was on Canaan. 00:09:12.45\00:09:14.45 And it's a, the situation where, 00:09:14.48\00:09:18.89 you look now in the scriptures. 00:09:18.92\00:09:20.92 Well, even you just pick up the newspaper today 00:09:20.99\00:09:23.79 and you have Ham, Shem, and Japheth, 00:09:23.83\00:09:27.03 and then you have the sons, you know, of Ham, 00:09:27.10\00:09:32.27 and you have the Phut, P-H-U-T, 00:09:32.30\00:09:37.34 he ended up dwelling in the area around Libya. 00:09:37.41\00:09:42.94 And then you have Kanan or Canaan, all the ites, 00:09:42.98\00:09:49.05 the Amorites, the Arvadites, and the Hittites, 00:09:49.08\00:09:52.35 and all those ites, sons of Kanan or Canaan. 00:09:52.39\00:09:56.86 And you can see that all, the Holy Land here, 00:09:56.89\00:10:00.70 that whole region. 00:10:00.73\00:10:02.36 And then have a Kush. 00:10:02.40\00:10:05.27 And Kush was in the region around Ethiopia and Somalia, 00:10:05.30\00:10:11.87 that whole region there. 00:10:11.91\00:10:14.04 And you pick the paper and you can see 00:10:14.08\00:10:17.41 that Libya is still around 00:10:17.45\00:10:20.88 and you have also, Ethiopia still around, 00:10:20.92\00:10:25.42 and then Mizraim, 00:10:25.45\00:10:26.89 which literally means two Egypt's, 00:10:26.92\00:10:29.66 Upper, and Lower Egypt. 00:10:29.69\00:10:31.49 And Egypt is still existing, but Canaan is not existing. 00:10:31.53\00:10:36.06 And when one looks at the scripture 00:10:36.10\00:10:37.80 about sins of father going down 00:10:37.83\00:10:39.83 to the third, fourth, fifth generation, this curse, 00:10:39.87\00:10:44.14 it seems to me, and I don't know for sure 00:10:44.17\00:10:47.41 but it seems to me that somehow Canaan, 00:10:47.44\00:10:50.58 somehow wiped out, 00:10:50.61\00:10:52.21 that lineage was wiped out because we don't see anymore. 00:10:52.25\00:10:56.02 That's just my theory, my idea. 00:10:56.05\00:10:59.15 I won't go to jail over it. 00:10:59.19\00:11:00.59 But, yeah, that's, that direction I leave. 00:11:00.66\00:11:03.89 Yeah, you know, I think it's important 00:11:03.93\00:11:08.16 for people to understand that, 00:11:08.23\00:11:12.60 that whole group of people were not cursed. 00:11:12.63\00:11:16.27 I mean, this is kind of an idea that still exists today 00:11:16.30\00:11:21.71 among certain churches that, you know, 00:11:21.74\00:11:25.01 that the whole black race was cursed 00:11:25.05\00:11:27.25 and, or that the mark of Cain, 00:11:27.28\00:11:30.29 that Cain received after killing Abel 00:11:30.32\00:11:33.76 was that he was black. 00:11:33.79\00:11:35.12 I mean, these are things and it's so bizarre to me, 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.79 but this is what some people are taught. 00:11:37.86\00:11:40.73 And I think it's so important to dispel this, not just for, 00:11:40.76\00:11:46.23 just for truth sake. 00:11:46.27\00:11:47.97 I mean, just to really get to 00:11:48.04\00:11:50.07 what the truth is about 00:11:50.11\00:11:52.27 what has happened with the Bible 00:11:52.31\00:11:55.34 and how people have misused the Bible, 00:11:55.38\00:11:58.85 because the Bible itself is God's inerrant word. 00:11:58.88\00:12:02.95 It's how it's been used, that's been an issue. 00:12:02.98\00:12:06.96 And I think even... 00:12:06.99\00:12:10.13 Oh, go ahead. Oh, yeah. 00:12:10.16\00:12:11.56 That's good, I'm sorry. 00:12:11.59\00:12:12.93 I just want to say something here that, that could be... 00:12:12.96\00:12:16.63 I developed a whole website about this 00:12:16.67\00:12:20.14 which maybe I can share with you later, 00:12:20.17\00:12:21.77 but and you can include in the program 00:12:21.80\00:12:24.31 once you look at it. 00:12:24.34\00:12:25.67 But it's a whole website dealing with how this happened. 00:12:25.71\00:12:30.38 And it all started with Table of Nations 00:12:30.41\00:12:33.52 in the 1500s. 00:12:33.55\00:12:36.25 Because I've done a whole study around 00:12:36.28\00:12:37.69 how the King James Version came about 00:12:37.72\00:12:39.89 and the scholars that were at Cambridge, 00:12:39.92\00:12:42.06 Oxford, Westminster, 00:12:42.09\00:12:43.79 and how they separated different parts of scripture 00:12:43.83\00:12:46.43 to translate it so that we could have this 00:12:46.46\00:12:48.60 particular King James Version of the Bible. 00:12:48.63\00:12:51.63 But around the same time, there was a whole situation 00:12:51.67\00:12:56.04 that they had developed called the table of, 00:12:56.07\00:12:58.27 called the, not the Table of Nations, 00:12:58.31\00:13:02.44 but it's the "Order of Being." 00:13:02.48\00:13:04.45 I'm sorry. 00:13:04.48\00:13:05.81 Where the king was at the top, 00:13:05.85\00:13:08.25 and then you had these layers 00:13:08.32\00:13:09.85 of individuals animate, inanimate objects, 00:13:09.88\00:13:13.19 they're all in this great chain of being, 00:13:13.22\00:13:16.69 then they added God and angels about five layers of above. 00:13:16.73\00:13:20.46 And then of course when you get to white man, 00:13:20.50\00:13:23.30 the black man from Africa 00:13:23.33\00:13:25.67 is two layers below the white man. 00:13:25.70\00:13:28.97 And so what happened is that the Linnaeus 00:13:29.00\00:13:33.81 and others him up with all of this. 00:13:33.84\00:13:35.84 They said that the place of the people 00:13:35.88\00:13:39.81 and entities that are in the chain beneath 00:13:39.85\00:13:42.48 are there to serve the ones that are above 00:13:42.52\00:13:45.05 in order to keep calm and pious 00:13:45.09\00:13:48.59 and in society you could not break 00:13:48.62\00:13:50.99 this great chain of being. 00:13:51.03\00:13:52.83 Then you can take a look at 00:13:52.86\00:13:54.93 when Charles Darwin came along and the origin of the species. 00:13:54.96\00:14:00.24 And you have this whole thing, 00:14:00.27\00:14:03.51 this fall in the middle of the culture, 00:14:03.54\00:14:06.21 the whole idea of the black race 00:14:06.24\00:14:08.68 being at least two points, 00:14:08.71\00:14:10.75 two layers under the white male. 00:14:10.78\00:14:13.21 And so what happened is that, 00:14:13.25\00:14:15.62 of course, you have apes 00:14:15.65\00:14:17.99 and animals trying to figure out 00:14:18.05\00:14:20.16 how people came into existence. 00:14:20.19\00:14:23.66 There is no creation, so we got to figured this out 00:14:23.69\00:14:26.06 from a natural perspective. 00:14:26.09\00:14:28.03 And so, then the whole idea of black people 00:14:28.06\00:14:31.00 coming from apes, 00:14:31.03\00:14:32.37 and then humans come from apes, 00:14:32.40\00:14:35.14 you know, all this, this little thing. 00:14:35.17\00:14:37.44 It became a situation that was very challenging 00:14:37.47\00:14:41.71 for people who fight against. 00:14:41.74\00:14:43.98 And so then you have the economic engine 00:14:44.01\00:14:47.28 of the slave trade developing. 00:14:47.32\00:14:50.19 Because initially people just came a naval, 00:14:50.22\00:14:54.39 a navies came and people, boats came 00:14:54.42\00:14:57.86 the outer part of Africa. 00:14:57.89\00:15:00.56 And then, of course, 00:15:00.60\00:15:02.60 with folks like David Livingston and others, 00:15:02.63\00:15:04.73 they went into the interior of Africa. 00:15:04.80\00:15:07.54 And then the King of Belgium, 00:15:07.57\00:15:12.24 terrible man, Leopold took over the Congo 00:15:12.27\00:15:15.54 and that whole region. 00:15:15.58\00:15:17.05 And then that set it up for Africa to be viewed 00:15:17.08\00:15:20.25 as kind of a cake to be cut up into the pies, 00:15:20.28\00:15:22.85 where the French get this, 00:15:22.88\00:15:24.35 German get this, the English get this, 00:15:24.42\00:15:26.29 Portuguese get that, 00:15:26.32\00:15:27.79 and it becomes, then transcend the geopolitical lines... 00:15:27.82\00:15:33.16 I'm sorry, the ancient African kingdom lines, 00:15:33.19\00:15:38.53 the boundary lines, and you put in these geopolitical lines. 00:15:38.57\00:15:41.44 And you're putting these artificial countries in place 00:15:41.47\00:15:45.54 in Africa, all across the continent of Africa. 00:15:45.57\00:15:48.18 So all of this was set up. 00:15:48.21\00:15:51.15 And then of course, you have Sir Galton, 00:15:51.18\00:15:54.55 who was a second cousin to Charles Darwin. 00:15:54.62\00:15:58.95 He came up with the whole concept of "Eugenic," 00:15:58.99\00:16:01.06 some years later and he wrote about it. 00:16:01.12\00:16:03.49 And, of course, eugenics, you have the word euphoria. 00:16:03.53\00:16:07.03 It's good gene if you will. 00:16:07.03\00:16:09.83 And so the whole idea of... 00:16:09.86\00:16:12.53 There are bad genes, there are good genes, 00:16:12.57\00:16:14.54 and there are certain facial features 00:16:14.57\00:16:16.47 and certain things, a certain structures 00:16:16.50\00:16:18.54 that are deemed to be superior. 00:16:18.61\00:16:21.78 And, of course, then intellectual capacity 00:16:21.81\00:16:24.65 is aligned with the place a person is in the genetic code 00:16:24.68\00:16:29.02 if you will. 00:16:29.05\00:16:30.39 And then that set up this whole thing 00:16:30.42\00:16:32.39 for Hitler later, 00:16:32.42\00:16:34.39 who was an avid reader of Charles Darwin 00:16:34.46\00:16:37.36 and Sir Francis Galton. 00:16:37.39\00:16:40.03 And then eugenics, the reality of eugenics 00:16:40.06\00:16:43.80 came into being in Nazi Germany. 00:16:43.83\00:16:47.90 It wasn't just a theoretical idea anymore, 00:16:47.94\00:16:51.77 now it was real, it was reality. 00:16:51.81\00:16:54.34 And now the whole concept of ethnic cleansing... 00:16:54.38\00:16:57.75 Comes in to play. Yes, yeah. 00:16:57.81\00:17:01.18 So racism really... 00:17:01.25\00:17:03.28 People have tried to say, the King James Version, 00:17:03.32\00:17:05.89 you know, they weren't black but comely. 00:17:05.92\00:17:07.69 You know, you're black but you're smart. 00:17:07.72\00:17:09.32 You know that kind of thing. 00:17:09.36\00:17:12.36 All the racist ideas about the Bible, 00:17:12.39\00:17:16.40 all were brought about saying that the Bible was translated 00:17:16.43\00:17:20.87 during this period of time 00:17:20.90\00:17:23.27 when the Great Chain of Being was bound to plates. 00:17:23.30\00:17:25.67 And one of the things in my dreams 00:17:25.71\00:17:27.04 is to create a film about this 00:17:27.08\00:17:28.98 and to maybe write a book about it. 00:17:29.01\00:17:30.88 Because the Bible is, 00:17:30.91\00:17:33.01 when you start looking at the essence of the Bible, 00:17:33.05\00:17:36.18 it is not racist, in fact, it's egalitarian, 00:17:36.22\00:17:38.95 it is opened up to slaves and to women, 00:17:38.99\00:17:42.62 and all the different morals and values and culture. 00:17:42.66\00:17:47.76 We're definitely dealt with Jesus Christ 00:17:47.86\00:17:52.43 in a way that was unbelievable. 00:17:52.47\00:17:54.87 Because you have the ancients believe 00:17:54.90\00:17:56.84 that you had the air and the fire, 00:17:56.87\00:17:59.77 you know, tending upwards, 00:17:59.81\00:18:01.61 and the water and Earth tending downwards, 00:18:01.68\00:18:06.41 and that's where Jesus came at water level, at Earth level 00:18:06.45\00:18:10.22 and he revealed divinity to the Earth 00:18:10.25\00:18:14.16 to show that there is a different way to do things. 00:18:14.19\00:18:17.13 There's a different way to be, and there's a different destiny 00:18:17.16\00:18:20.20 that is available. 00:18:20.23\00:18:21.96 Wow! Wow! 00:18:22.03\00:18:23.83 I want to come back to the concept of 00:18:23.87\00:18:30.51 what Jesus looked like in just a second. 00:18:30.54\00:18:32.84 But I think, again, you know, you made a really good point 00:18:32.87\00:18:39.11 that the Bible itself, it transcends race. 00:18:39.15\00:18:42.58 I mean, the Bible says, "There's no Jew, nor Greek, 00:18:42.62\00:18:45.32 male, nor female." 00:18:45.35\00:18:46.69 I mean, so it's, 00:18:46.72\00:18:49.16 the Bible teaches an equality of men. 00:18:49.19\00:18:53.09 But man has taken the Bible and has taken... 00:18:53.13\00:18:56.56 it's just like that, that whole order of being 00:18:56.60\00:18:59.37 and the whole concept of eugenics. 00:18:59.40\00:19:01.60 Man has taken all of that and twisted it so much that, 00:19:01.64\00:19:06.54 you know, all groups of people have felt oppressed 00:19:06.57\00:19:10.45 by those whole concepts of superiority 00:19:10.48\00:19:16.28 and all of that. 00:19:16.32\00:19:17.65 And it's ingrained in the psyche of men and women. 00:19:17.69\00:19:23.63 And it's to me right now 00:19:23.66\00:19:26.66 with all that's going on in society, 00:19:26.70\00:19:28.80 we have these culture wars happening. 00:19:28.83\00:19:33.10 And at the root I think, 00:19:33.13\00:19:35.67 is a spiritual issue, of course, 00:19:35.70\00:19:39.67 but also this whole concept of value. 00:19:39.71\00:19:45.45 What is valued? 00:19:45.48\00:19:46.98 Who is valued? 00:19:47.02\00:19:48.82 And I think, we really as Christians 00:19:48.85\00:19:53.05 have to step back and look at what's going on, 00:19:53.09\00:19:58.13 not let it dominate our psyche, 00:19:58.16\00:20:00.80 but certainly be aware of what's going on. 00:20:00.83\00:20:04.33 That it is another trap of the enemy 00:20:04.37\00:20:07.60 to divide us, to keep us down. 00:20:07.64\00:20:10.27 It's all the trap. 00:20:10.31\00:20:12.14 And if we just stay focused on Jesus 00:20:12.17\00:20:16.91 and really do some digging, 00:20:16.95\00:20:18.81 like what you've done and what you're sharing. 00:20:18.85\00:20:21.28 I think it can clear up a lot of misconceptions. 00:20:21.32\00:20:24.65 Like for example, 00:20:24.69\00:20:26.89 when you look at television now, 00:20:26.92\00:20:29.49 when you look at Africa. 00:20:29.52\00:20:32.99 If anything's on TV about Africa, 00:20:33.03\00:20:35.76 most of what you say, it's the jungle. 00:20:35.80\00:20:37.80 It's like there are no cities over there. 00:20:37.83\00:20:39.83 There are no wealthy people over there. 00:20:39.87\00:20:41.80 There are no people who are achieving over there. 00:20:41.87\00:20:43.91 It's all the jungle. 00:20:43.94\00:20:45.34 And it's like, it just kind of blows me away 00:20:45.37\00:20:49.71 that we're still kind of stuck in that place of looking. 00:20:49.74\00:20:55.68 And certainly there are areas in Africa that are just jungle. 00:20:55.72\00:20:59.72 But I think, you know, we have no idea 00:20:59.75\00:21:02.52 of what Africa has contributed to society at large. 00:21:02.56\00:21:07.13 Would you share a little bit of that? 00:21:07.20\00:21:08.90 What has Africa given to society? 00:21:08.93\00:21:12.10 Because according to TV, it's nothing. 00:21:12.13\00:21:16.30 It's basically nothing. 00:21:16.34\00:21:19.84 It just blows me away that people think that, 00:21:19.87\00:21:23.55 you know, King Tut for example, he was African, 00:21:23.58\00:21:27.08 but nobody talks about that. 00:21:27.12\00:21:29.18 You know, they just think, "Oh, he was King Tut." 00:21:29.22\00:21:31.42 What do you think about that, Joe? 00:21:31.45\00:21:33.76 Well, I want to go back just for a moment 00:21:33.79\00:21:35.62 to what you said about equality and everything. 00:21:35.66\00:21:38.39 I see, I believe that in the scripture it says that, 00:21:38.46\00:21:41.20 when we get to heaven, every tongue, every kindred, 00:21:41.23\00:21:44.10 every nation is going to be there. 00:21:44.13\00:21:46.03 So there is going to be 00:21:46.07\00:21:47.57 some type of distinctiveness I think, even in heaven. 00:21:47.60\00:21:51.01 Yes. Which I think is wonderful. 00:21:51.04\00:21:52.91 Yes. 00:21:52.94\00:21:54.28 And I think, also like the writer of Acts, Luke said, 00:21:54.31\00:22:00.35 talked about one blood. 00:22:00.38\00:22:02.12 Then also we see great pains throughout the scripture 00:22:02.18\00:22:05.52 to say that, it's a Syrophoenician woman. 00:22:05.55\00:22:08.52 You know, that she's not just a woman, 00:22:08.59\00:22:10.33 she's a Syrophoenician. 00:22:10.36\00:22:11.69 All right. 00:22:11.76\00:22:13.29 A woman from Samaria. 00:22:13.33\00:22:14.73 It's a man from, you know, wherever. 00:22:14.73\00:22:18.00 It is the whole idea 00:22:18.07\00:22:19.63 I think of the scriptures showing the difference 00:22:19.67\00:22:24.11 and how important it is for us to have those distinctive. 00:22:24.14\00:22:27.68 You know, I think it comes from a good place 00:22:27.71\00:22:29.98 in someone's heart when they say 00:22:30.01\00:22:31.35 they are colorblind, but I'm not colorblind. 00:22:31.38\00:22:33.68 I really, I'm thank for the variety that is there. 00:22:33.72\00:22:37.89 And I think that the Lord works in and through that. 00:22:37.92\00:22:40.92 And I'm not even concerned even with churches be, 00:22:40.96\00:22:44.16 you know, a black church or white church. 00:22:44.19\00:22:46.36 And we say that the greatest divide 00:22:46.39\00:22:47.73 is on Sunday, or Saturday, or someone worships. 00:22:47.76\00:22:51.93 That's the greatest divide on the planet. 00:22:51.97\00:22:54.50 But, you know, what? 00:22:54.54\00:22:55.87 I think that there's different distinct of music, 00:22:55.90\00:22:58.47 of taste, of types of preaching, 00:22:58.51\00:23:01.51 and understanding. 00:23:01.54\00:23:03.51 And so I'm not even against that merely. 00:23:03.55\00:23:06.58 I think it's good we get together. 00:23:06.61\00:23:08.72 But I think it's also it's good to understand this natives. 00:23:08.75\00:23:12.42 It's just my idea about it 00:23:12.45\00:23:14.02 and through great respect to seek to understand 00:23:14.06\00:23:16.99 before seeking to be understood, 00:23:17.03\00:23:18.76 it doesn't preclude that, need to be understood. 00:23:18.83\00:23:21.00 This means there's a chronological sequence 00:23:21.03\00:23:23.10 involved. 00:23:23.13\00:23:24.47 Now to get to your question about Africa 00:23:24.50\00:23:27.57 and what it's brought. 00:23:27.60\00:23:29.57 I just think, you know, 00:23:29.60\00:23:31.14 there are things that I'm hoping to develop. 00:23:31.17\00:23:33.21 I have a pretty huge black history collection, 00:23:33.24\00:23:35.71 over 3,000 pieces. 00:23:35.74\00:23:37.08 I missed that. 00:23:37.11\00:23:38.45 I'm sorry, with the Skype, I missed. 00:23:38.51\00:23:39.85 You have a pretty big...? 00:23:39.88\00:23:41.72 Black history collection. 00:23:41.78\00:23:43.42 It's over 3,000 pieces. 00:23:43.45\00:23:45.55 The oldest piece staged about 1553. 00:23:45.59\00:23:48.62 And one of the things that my goal is to do 00:23:48.66\00:23:52.29 is to help develop galleries around the country 00:23:52.33\00:23:54.96 and even internationally. 00:23:55.03\00:23:56.46 Now one of the first things 00:23:56.50\00:23:57.83 I want to put in these galleries, 00:23:57.87\00:23:59.20 is the Rosetta Stone. 00:23:59.23\00:24:01.30 I'm only one in the world that has developed 00:24:01.34\00:24:03.71 the full size, 00:24:03.74\00:24:05.07 three dimensional replica of the famous Rosetta Stone 00:24:05.11\00:24:07.34 that was used to crack code to hieroglyphics, 00:24:07.38\00:24:09.94 which then unlocked the secrets of Ancient Egypt. 00:24:09.98\00:24:12.45 Without the Rosetta Stone, you would not... 00:24:12.48\00:24:14.42 We'd see all the hieroglyphics 00:24:14.45\00:24:16.95 on obelisks and temples and papyrus 00:24:16.99\00:24:20.69 and we would not understand anything about the morals, 00:24:20.72\00:24:24.23 the values and, you know, 00:24:24.26\00:24:26.39 the different aspects of culture of ancient Egypt. 00:24:26.43\00:24:29.56 But the thing about it is, 00:24:29.60\00:24:31.40 "why would I put the Rosetta Stone 00:24:31.43\00:24:33.40 is the first thing in a gallery." 00:24:33.44\00:24:35.37 The reason why is because 00:24:35.40\00:24:36.84 I don't want to support the notion, 00:24:36.87\00:24:38.67 "black history started with slavery 00:24:38.74\00:24:40.44 and the slave trade." 00:24:40.48\00:24:41.84 I want to have something that isn't, 00:24:41.91\00:24:44.11 almost a literal touched to ancient Egypt 00:24:44.15\00:24:48.35 which happens in Africa. 00:24:48.38\00:24:50.35 And then from there we can then segue, 00:24:50.39\00:24:53.09 we can talk about all the other ancient African Kingdoms, 00:24:53.12\00:24:56.56 Songhay Kingdom, the Ghanian Kingdom, 00:24:56.59\00:24:59.83 the Malawian Kingdom, 00:24:59.86\00:25:02.00 and then the different people groups at the house, 00:25:02.06\00:25:04.73 the Igbo, the Luo, 00:25:04.77\00:25:06.84 and different other people 00:25:06.87\00:25:09.17 throughout the continent of Africa. 00:25:09.20\00:25:12.14 And all the bonds were developed, 00:25:12.17\00:25:14.81 especially in West Africa. 00:25:14.84\00:25:18.08 The different things that we have learned 00:25:18.11\00:25:20.52 about communication with drums, 00:25:20.55\00:25:23.39 and all these different other aspects 00:25:23.42\00:25:26.22 of technology that have been developed in ancient times. 00:25:26.25\00:25:31.76 And in fact there is a place in Zimbabwe called, 00:25:31.79\00:25:34.63 a city called Great Zimbabwe. 00:25:34.66\00:25:36.93 That is made of stone without mortar. 00:25:36.97\00:25:40.30 Now I will dare anyone to go out, 00:25:40.34\00:25:43.57 just get a bunch of stones, 00:25:43.61\00:25:45.87 build a fence, and then live for 40 years. 00:25:45.91\00:25:49.21 And you'll find that the movement of the Earth 00:25:49.24\00:25:52.35 will cause that stone fence to fall and crumble 00:25:52.38\00:25:55.25 over a period of time. 00:25:55.32\00:25:56.82 And yet somehow, someway, the ancient Africans 00:25:56.85\00:25:59.85 had something in their understanding a building, 00:25:59.89\00:26:03.93 to create this city Great Zimbabwe 00:26:03.96\00:26:06.49 without mortar that still stands today, 00:26:06.53\00:26:09.20 just made of a large stone. 00:26:09.23\00:26:12.20 Wow! That is amazing. 00:26:12.27\00:26:16.27 And there's something else additional to that 00:26:16.30\00:26:19.91 is the pyramids were built 00:26:19.94\00:26:24.38 1.5 ton per block. 00:26:24.41\00:26:28.45 They were all put together in a way 00:26:28.52\00:26:31.12 that you could not fit a piece of paper through them. 00:26:31.15\00:26:35.06 Just the mathematical tolerances, 00:26:35.09\00:26:37.59 it's like one, one millions 00:26:37.63\00:26:39.46 or one, one thousandth of an inch. 00:26:39.49\00:26:41.66 And to think that they put them... 00:26:41.70\00:26:43.90 How did they put them in place? 00:26:43.93\00:26:46.03 Once scholar sat down with a mathematician 00:26:46.07\00:26:49.70 and figured out the number of blocks. 00:26:49.74\00:26:51.17 If it was 20 years with 100,000 workers 00:26:51.21\00:26:54.31 working X number of hours a week, 00:26:54.34\00:26:56.95 they figured, it took one block 00:26:56.98\00:26:58.71 would have to be set in place in 20 years. 00:26:58.75\00:27:01.95 Each block would be set in place every 96.5 seconds. 00:27:01.98\00:27:08.06 And I don't know how that would happen in 20 years 00:27:08.09\00:27:10.23 because the volume of blocks. 00:27:10.26\00:27:11.73 And the volume of a block is enough to build a fence, 00:27:11.76\00:27:15.16 10 feet tall 00:27:15.20\00:27:16.53 around the entire country of France. 00:27:16.56\00:27:17.90 That gives an idea 00:27:17.93\00:27:19.40 of what has come out of the continent of Africa. 00:27:19.43\00:27:22.00 Wow! 00:27:22.04\00:27:23.37 Thank you so much for sharing all this. 00:27:23.41\00:27:25.51 This is some powerful, powerful information 00:27:25.57\00:27:29.31 that most people don't know. 00:27:29.34\00:27:31.61 And I'm just so happy and thankful 00:27:31.65\00:27:34.15 that we had you on today. 00:27:34.18\00:27:36.35 Do you have a five second closing thought 00:27:36.38\00:27:38.95 for our viewers? 00:27:38.99\00:27:41.59 I just go back to the... 00:27:41.62\00:27:42.99 St. Augustine said, he said, "Seek to understand 00:27:43.02\00:27:46.96 before seeking to be understood." 00:27:47.00\00:27:48.83 And I think if every one of us tried that 00:27:48.86\00:27:50.63 for 30 seconds, 30 days, it would change the world. 00:27:50.67\00:27:54.60 It is so much. 00:27:54.64\00:27:55.97 Now, Joe, I try to get you here. 00:27:56.00\00:27:58.74 I got you here this time. 00:27:58.77\00:28:00.61 I've got to get you next time too for an hour. 00:28:00.64\00:28:04.35 Thank you for being here. Let's work on that. 00:28:04.38\00:28:06.21 We will. And thank you. 00:28:06.25\00:28:07.72 Join us next time 00:28:07.75\00:28:09.08 'cause it's just wouldn't be the same without you. 00:28:09.12\00:28:11.19
