Great, great. 00:01:06.73\00:01:08.70 You have a very interesting story 00:01:08.73\00:01:12.23 and I love for the Dare to Dream viewers 00:01:12.27\00:01:15.04 to know about our guest. 00:01:15.07\00:01:17.57 Now you are no stranger to Dare to Dream. 00:01:17.61\00:01:20.38 That's correct. 00:01:20.41\00:01:21.74 Because you were on the first season 00:01:21.78\00:01:23.91 of Pure Choices. 00:01:23.95\00:01:25.28 Yes, I am. 00:01:25.31\00:01:26.65 And that was such a blessing with you 00:01:26.68\00:01:28.95 and all the other pastors, Pastor Seth Yelorda 00:01:28.98\00:01:31.79 and just everybody that was there 00:01:31.82\00:01:33.76 was just really a blessing, 00:01:33.79\00:01:35.26 you guys did a wonderful job. 00:01:35.29\00:01:37.03 So thank you. 00:01:37.06\00:01:38.39 And it feels good to be here, thank you very much. 00:01:38.43\00:01:39.76 Yes, yes, and now you have written a book? 00:01:39.79\00:01:43.67 That's correct. 00:01:43.70\00:01:45.03 So before we get to the book, 00:01:45.07\00:01:46.84 let's talk about your journey 00:01:46.87\00:01:48.20 and how you got to the place of writing a book. 00:01:48.24\00:01:51.47 Where were you raised? 00:01:51.51\00:01:52.84 Absolutely, I was raised in the state of New Jersey. 00:01:52.87\00:01:56.61 Yes. 00:01:56.64\00:01:57.98 And my parents, my grandparents were lovers of the word 00:01:58.01\00:02:01.12 and so from a very young age 00:02:01.15\00:02:03.75 we were introduced to reading the Bible. 00:02:03.79\00:02:06.55 And my grandmother, especially, was a lover of the stories. 00:02:06.59\00:02:10.96 So she would act out all of the stories with, 00:02:10.99\00:02:13.09 I mean, some great energy and gave us a love 00:02:13.13\00:02:16.33 of wanted to just see what the word said. 00:02:16.36\00:02:18.73 So we really enjoy sharing the Bible together. 00:02:18.77\00:02:22.54 How many siblings that you have? 00:02:22.57\00:02:24.21 Well, I have two younger sisters, 00:02:24.24\00:02:26.64 who also learn to love the word along with me. 00:02:26.68\00:02:29.61 That's so good. 00:02:29.64\00:02:30.98 So you grew up in a Christian household 00:02:31.01\00:02:33.31 and the focus was on the word? 00:02:33.35\00:02:35.78 Absolutely. 00:02:35.82\00:02:37.15 Did you ever have, 00:02:37.19\00:02:38.52 during your high school or college experience, 00:02:38.55\00:02:41.49 did you ever have any time 00:02:41.52\00:02:43.19 when you were pulled away from the word 00:02:43.22\00:02:45.49 or were you always just pretty focused on love 00:02:45.53\00:02:49.50 in the Lord solely? 00:02:49.53\00:02:50.87 Well, I mean, I would love to say 00:02:50.90\00:02:52.23 that I was never pulled away. 00:02:52.27\00:02:54.34 But, I mean, as a teenager 00:02:54.37\00:02:56.40 there are so many different things 00:02:56.44\00:02:57.77 to get into and to enjoy, 00:02:57.81\00:02:59.84 I have developed a love for music, 00:02:59.87\00:03:02.98 was very active in school, but thank God, 00:03:03.01\00:03:05.91 I was always also involved in my Church, 00:03:05.95\00:03:09.08 and still learnt to, as a young teenager, 00:03:09.12\00:03:13.42 to navigate the word in the best way 00:03:13.46\00:03:15.76 that I could at that time. 00:03:15.79\00:03:17.13 Yes, and I'm glad you said that 00:03:17.16\00:03:18.96 because that's probably one of the things 00:03:18.99\00:03:22.63 that led you to write this book. 00:03:22.66\00:03:24.00 What led you to write this book? 00:03:24.03\00:03:25.37 Well. 00:03:25.40\00:03:26.74 You know, I was sharing with some friends 00:03:26.77\00:03:29.70 my personal love for the word. 00:03:29.74\00:03:31.94 But I was realizing that not many people, 00:03:31.97\00:03:35.01 who are young, 00:03:35.04\00:03:36.38 could navigate the word with ease. 00:03:36.41\00:03:38.85 Number one, they were intimidated 00:03:38.88\00:03:41.25 because the Bible sometimes has a language 00:03:41.28\00:03:43.99 that's hard to navigate. 00:03:44.02\00:03:46.05 And then sometimes 00:03:46.09\00:03:47.42 there are a lot of different points of view. 00:03:47.46\00:03:49.96 There are people who believe that you have to be scholar 00:03:49.99\00:03:52.49 in order to understand the word. 00:03:52.53\00:03:54.50 But I understand that the Holy Spirit 00:03:54.53\00:03:56.40 has promised to give wisdom to anybody who tries. 00:03:56.43\00:03:58.73 Mm-hm. 00:03:58.77\00:04:00.10 And so I wanted to create a tool for individuals 00:04:00.14\00:04:02.90 who wanted to get started on the journey. 00:04:02.94\00:04:05.54 That's so good. 00:04:05.57\00:04:06.91 You know, when I was looking at the book 00:04:06.94\00:04:09.31 I thought this is such a necessary tool 00:04:09.34\00:04:13.72 to help people to get into deeper Bible study. 00:04:13.75\00:04:17.52 Because so many people, as you say, are intimidated by, 00:04:17.55\00:04:20.72 they don't understand like where do I start? 00:04:20.76\00:04:24.49 Like, this is, it's 66 books, you know, 00:04:24.53\00:04:27.93 do I start with the New Testament 00:04:27.96\00:04:29.73 or I start with the Old Testament, 00:04:29.76\00:04:31.80 where do I start? 00:04:31.83\00:04:33.17 So you decided to write a book to help. 00:04:33.20\00:04:35.60 Is it more targeted toward younger people? 00:04:35.64\00:04:38.81 Who is the intended audience? 00:04:38.84\00:04:40.58 Actually, my audience is anyone 00:04:40.61\00:04:44.05 who has a trouble or has some trouble 00:04:44.08\00:04:46.82 navigating the words. 00:04:46.85\00:04:48.18 So it doesn't have to be a young person. 00:04:48.22\00:04:49.98 I find that even some of our older people 00:04:50.02\00:04:52.32 are trying to get deeper in the word 00:04:52.35\00:04:54.46 and having a hard time. 00:04:54.49\00:04:55.82 So anybody who's just trying to get a start 00:04:55.86\00:04:58.33 can get started with that tool. 00:04:58.36\00:05:00.30 That's so good. 00:05:00.33\00:05:01.66 You know, one of the things 00:05:01.70\00:05:03.03 that I'm seeing in the Church is this, 00:05:03.06\00:05:07.14 there are different things from Eastern Mysticism 00:05:07.17\00:05:09.77 and things trying to creep into the Church 00:05:09.80\00:05:12.37 and we really, really have to get deeper into the word 00:05:12.41\00:05:16.14 so that we recognize the truth from counterfeit. 00:05:16.18\00:05:20.65 And one of the things 00:05:20.68\00:05:22.72 that I love about this book is you give everyday 00:05:22.75\00:05:26.79 there is some new story or a miracle 00:05:26.82\00:05:29.16 or something for people to get into. 00:05:29.19\00:05:31.86 Let's talk about the book and the way it's laid out. 00:05:31.89\00:05:35.20 How did you lay it out? Sure. 00:05:35.23\00:05:36.60 Well, we had a fun way of starting the book. 00:05:36.63\00:05:40.67 I did a live challenge online. Okay. 00:05:40.70\00:05:44.51 So I walked a group of 500 people 00:05:44.54\00:05:46.98 from the beginning of the Gospels to the end 00:05:47.01\00:05:50.65 over a 30-day period. 00:05:50.68\00:05:52.58 And we decided that we could use some sizable chunks, 00:05:52.61\00:05:56.72 about three chapters a day that we could read through 00:05:56.75\00:06:00.22 and pick out the stories that jumped out the most. 00:06:00.26\00:06:03.56 So each day you have some miracle of Jesus, 00:06:03.59\00:06:06.90 some sermon of Jesus that we, 00:06:06.93\00:06:09.70 you know, pick apart and talk through. 00:06:09.73\00:06:12.87 And actually I would like to go back and say that 00:06:12.90\00:06:15.70 that's how I started reading the Bible in high school. 00:06:15.74\00:06:18.77 I had a reading assignment in my advanced English class 00:06:18.81\00:06:23.28 to read anything 30 minutes a day. 00:06:23.31\00:06:25.95 And I decided it will be a good opportunity 00:06:25.98\00:06:27.92 to read the Bible and that's how I started myself, 00:06:27.95\00:06:30.95 right in the tenth grade. 00:06:30.99\00:06:32.32 Were you in public school? I was in public school. 00:06:32.35\00:06:34.79 And there was no push back on that? 00:06:34.82\00:06:36.99 Not at all, we could read anything. 00:06:37.03\00:06:38.76 They really just wanted us to read something. 00:06:38.79\00:06:40.20 Right, right. 00:06:40.23\00:06:41.56 And so I choose to read that. 00:06:41.60\00:06:44.63 And by Gods grace I got through the whole Old Testament 00:06:44.67\00:06:47.60 in my high school, tenth grade class. 00:06:47.64\00:06:50.54 But I thought that the gospels would be a non-invasive, 00:06:50.57\00:06:54.64 non-scary way for people to jump in. 00:06:54.68\00:06:57.35 I mean, what better way to get into the Bible and Jesus, 00:06:57.38\00:06:59.38 right? 00:06:59.41\00:07:00.75 That's what I was going to say. 00:07:00.78\00:07:02.12 I mean, really, the first step is introducing them to Jesus 00:07:02.15\00:07:06.02 and I love that about the book. 00:07:06.05\00:07:07.39 Absolutely. 00:07:07.42\00:07:08.76 You introduce people to Jesus and what He did and how He was. 00:07:08.79\00:07:13.29 And to me, 00:07:13.33\00:07:14.76 it's like once you establish that connection with Him 00:07:14.80\00:07:19.00 everything else just falls in the place. 00:07:19.03\00:07:20.74 Absolutely. 00:07:20.77\00:07:22.10 So when you did this in a high school did this, 00:07:22.14\00:07:26.44 kind of, create in you a desire 00:07:26.47\00:07:29.18 to get into the Bible more deeply 00:07:29.21\00:07:32.25 or what, how did it impact you? 00:07:32.28\00:07:34.48 Absolutely, God was merciful to me. 00:07:34.52\00:07:38.55 And one thing that I tell people 00:07:38.59\00:07:40.39 who want to get into the Bible is the first step, 00:07:40.42\00:07:43.16 is finding an easy reading translation. 00:07:43.19\00:07:45.76 Good. 00:07:45.79\00:07:47.13 Read something that you can understand. 00:07:47.16\00:07:50.07 No slide on the King James Version, 00:07:50.10\00:07:53.03 we love the King James Version for what it has done for us, 00:07:53.07\00:07:56.24 but sometimes the thee's and thou's and, you know, 00:07:56.27\00:07:59.91 the language can be a little intimidating. 00:07:59.94\00:08:03.31 So I'll choose an easy reading translation 00:08:03.35\00:08:06.15 as a tenth grader. 00:08:06.18\00:08:07.58 And seeing how plainly some other stories came out, 00:08:07.62\00:08:11.05 I mean it's a page-turner, 00:08:11.09\00:08:12.92 it's better than anything you wanted in me. 00:08:12.95\00:08:14.96 And so it was the same way when I've read the Gospel, 00:08:14.99\00:08:17.23 you know, you're just fallen in love everyday 00:08:17.26\00:08:19.66 when you see Jesus talking to individuals 00:08:19.69\00:08:22.53 just like you, you know, 00:08:22.56\00:08:23.90 people who have challenges just like you 00:08:23.93\00:08:26.23 and just like a shepherd He is gently leading His people 00:08:26.27\00:08:29.54 to love Him more. 00:08:29.57\00:08:30.91 I just, you just can get enough of Him. 00:08:30.94\00:08:33.04 It was so beautiful. 00:08:33.07\00:08:34.44 I remember, in my own experience, 00:08:34.48\00:08:38.71 I had drifted away from the Lord 00:08:38.75\00:08:40.82 and a friend came to visit me 00:08:40.85\00:08:42.25 and she had her Living Bible with her 00:08:42.28\00:08:44.59 and I had grown up with the King James 00:08:44.62\00:08:46.96 and you know the thee and thou's I was used to it, 00:08:46.99\00:08:49.02 that's what I knew. 00:08:49.06\00:08:50.39 But when she sent me a card 00:08:50.43\00:08:52.49 and in it was Philippians 4:3 I think or 4:13 and it was, 00:08:52.53\00:08:59.00 don't worry about anything instead pray about everything. 00:08:59.03\00:09:02.04 It was in from the Living Bible and I thought, wow, 00:09:02.07\00:09:06.88 I had never seen another version 00:09:06.91\00:09:09.74 so what you're saying is so true. 00:09:09.78\00:09:12.31 You need to have a version that is readable for you, 00:09:12.35\00:09:17.39 that's comfortable 00:09:17.42\00:09:18.75 so that you understand what you're reading 00:09:18.79\00:09:20.59 'cause lot of are will be, 00:09:20.62\00:09:21.96 I mean, that thee and thou thing 00:09:21.99\00:09:23.53 just put some off. 00:09:23.56\00:09:24.89 They can't, they just can't get with it. 00:09:24.93\00:09:26.59 So the first step, 00:09:26.63\00:09:27.96 'cause you're giving your steps now, 00:09:28.00\00:09:29.33 so the first step 00:09:29.36\00:09:30.93 in getting into a deeper study of the Bible 00:09:30.97\00:09:35.34 is to find a translation that is more readable. 00:09:35.37\00:09:40.54 Which ones do you recommend? 00:09:40.58\00:09:42.54 Well, there's quite a few out there, 00:09:42.58\00:09:44.51 my personal favorite is the New Living Translation. 00:09:44.55\00:09:49.32 Now, it's important, we're on the Urban Report 00:09:49.35\00:09:51.79 so I'm thinking that these statistics would be important, 00:09:51.82\00:09:55.02 that in the United States 00:09:55.06\00:09:56.39 that most adult read at about a seventh-grade reading level. 00:09:56.42\00:10:00.96 And so at the beginning of each Bible, 00:10:01.00\00:10:04.73 it will actually tell you 00:10:04.77\00:10:06.67 what grade reading level is appropriate 00:10:06.70\00:10:10.84 for this actual book. 00:10:10.87\00:10:13.38 So you have the New International Version 00:10:13.41\00:10:16.64 some challenges with that 00:10:16.68\00:10:18.61 but the Holman Christian Standard Bible 00:10:18.65\00:10:20.62 is a more advanced Bible. 00:10:20.65\00:10:23.12 It's also a plain reading Bible 00:10:23.15\00:10:25.35 but it's more scholarly in its presentation. 00:10:25.39\00:10:28.49 So those two Bibles, the New Living Translation 00:10:28.52\00:10:30.99 for just devotional reading, 00:10:31.03\00:10:33.26 and then if you wanted to do some deeper study, 00:10:33.29\00:10:35.40 Holman Christian Standard Bible, 00:10:35.43\00:10:37.73 the New American Standard Bible is also a very good Bible 00:10:37.77\00:10:41.54 for scholarly reading. 00:10:41.57\00:10:43.10 That's good. 00:10:43.14\00:10:44.47 So what happens when you read, 00:10:44.51\00:10:48.78 though, like let's say, in one translation 00:10:48.81\00:10:55.28 it won't emphasize certain things 00:10:55.32\00:10:57.65 the way another will. 00:10:57.69\00:10:59.69 Like is the New Living, is that more of a paraphrase 00:10:59.72\00:11:03.63 or is that an actual translation? 00:11:03.66\00:11:06.63 Well, so when you look at the title of a Bible 00:11:06.66\00:11:11.20 it will tell you 00:11:11.23\00:11:12.57 what the answer to your question is. 00:11:12.60\00:11:13.94 Okay. Good. Good. 00:11:13.97\00:11:15.30 So there are translations and there are versions. 00:11:15.34\00:11:17.01 Okay. 00:11:17.04\00:11:18.37 So translations contain to be more paraphrased 00:11:18.41\00:11:22.11 and versions are gonna be your deeper, 00:11:22.14\00:11:24.61 exact from the text derivative of the Bible. 00:11:24.65\00:11:30.09 So even from looking at the title of a Bible 00:11:30.12\00:11:33.92 you can tell which one is gonna give you a more of a, 00:11:33.96\00:11:38.39 like I said, devotional, a surface reading, 00:11:38.43\00:11:40.86 and a deeper reading. 00:11:40.90\00:11:42.56 See, that's so good. Yeah. 00:11:42.60\00:11:43.93 I never even knew that. 00:11:43.97\00:11:45.30 So it's important actually I would think to have both. 00:11:45.33\00:11:51.27 Absolutely. Right? 00:11:51.31\00:11:52.64 Absolutely, and I think that 00:11:52.67\00:11:54.04 this is where maturity comes in for all of us. 00:11:54.08\00:11:58.41 You know, everyone is in different places 00:11:58.45\00:12:01.02 but there is a little bit here and there 00:12:01.05\00:12:02.92 that can be beneficial for everyone. 00:12:02.95\00:12:05.75 If you can think about any story 00:12:05.79\00:12:08.39 where there are eye witnesses, 00:12:08.42\00:12:10.06 everyone has their own vantage point 00:12:10.09\00:12:12.63 and from each vantage point there are things that you get 00:12:12.66\00:12:15.43 and things that you miss. 00:12:15.46\00:12:16.90 And so it's a collaboration of the perspectives 00:12:16.93\00:12:21.37 that gives you more of a full picture. 00:12:21.40\00:12:23.91 And so if you think about it that way 00:12:23.94\00:12:25.77 you can actually use a series of Bibles 00:12:25.81\00:12:28.88 to help you to see a fuller picture 00:12:28.91\00:12:31.11 of what God's word is really saying. 00:12:31.15\00:12:33.92 This is so good. 00:12:33.95\00:12:35.88 Okay, so the first thing is find a readable Bible. 00:12:35.92\00:12:39.82 Yes. What's the second strategy for digging deeper? 00:12:39.85\00:12:42.69 Well, you know when you're digging 00:12:42.72\00:12:44.06 you have to use some good tools. 00:12:44.09\00:12:45.43 Right. 00:12:45.46\00:12:46.80 And so it's not like, you know, 00:12:46.83\00:12:49.53 some times in the 70s and the 60s, you know, 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.73 you had to buy these larger volume of tools 00:12:51.77\00:12:55.40 in order to be able to, 00:12:55.44\00:12:56.77 you know, understand concordances, 00:12:56.81\00:12:58.94 and encyclopedias, and dictionaries. 00:12:58.97\00:13:01.64 Now you can find everything online. 00:13:01.68\00:13:03.08 Right. 00:13:03.11\00:13:04.45 And so for free you can actually find 00:13:04.48\00:13:06.55 some very good Bible tools 00:13:06.58\00:13:09.15 that will help you to understand 00:13:09.18\00:13:10.52 where Jesus was when he was talking. 00:13:10.55\00:13:13.15 You can see some words and some descriptions 00:13:13.19\00:13:16.12 of His parables posts to help us to know 00:13:16.16\00:13:18.39 what He was really saying 00:13:18.43\00:13:19.93 and how the regional people would have read it. 00:13:19.96\00:13:22.43 Get some good tools to dig with. 00:13:22.46\00:13:25.80 And I wouldn't say dig in whole chapters, 00:13:25.83\00:13:28.50 if you read a chapter for the day 00:13:28.54\00:13:30.14 there might be one verse that stuck out to you. 00:13:30.17\00:13:32.81 You take sometime and study that one verse. 00:13:32.84\00:13:36.88 And find a word in there 00:13:36.91\00:13:39.61 that's interesting and look up the, 00:13:39.65\00:13:41.55 you know, meaning of the word 00:13:41.58\00:13:43.12 look up the meaning of the parable. 00:13:43.15\00:13:45.52 That's how we really grow muscles in the word. 00:13:45.55\00:13:48.22 It's not enough to devotionally read 00:13:48.26\00:13:50.16 over the scripture, 00:13:50.19\00:13:51.56 you have to also dig 00:13:51.59\00:13:53.46 so that you'll get a deeper picture 00:13:53.50\00:13:54.86 what God is saying. 00:13:54.90\00:13:56.23 See, that's such a good point because you can read something, 00:13:56.26\00:14:01.87 it's kind of like, okay, this is my devotional time, 00:14:01.90\00:14:05.74 I'm gonna give 30 minutes or whatever it is. 00:14:05.77\00:14:08.64 So I'm reading that scripture and I'm reading this scripture, 00:14:08.68\00:14:11.81 like depending on which your devotional plan is. 00:14:11.85\00:14:15.48 But you're not really digging, you just kind of, 00:14:15.52\00:14:18.75 it's just that surface reading which, you know, I mean, 00:14:18.79\00:14:22.42 there's something to be said for reading 00:14:22.46\00:14:24.46 but when you want to get into it deeper, 00:14:24.49\00:14:27.26 you're saying read over that scripture 00:14:27.30\00:14:29.80 and then see 00:14:29.83\00:14:31.20 how the Holy Spirit is impressing you. 00:14:31.23\00:14:33.54 Because there might be something in that passage 00:14:33.57\00:14:36.94 that applies to you, so read it, read it, 00:14:36.97\00:14:42.28 and read it over again. 00:14:42.31\00:14:43.65 Yeah, and the thing about scripture 00:14:43.68\00:14:45.65 that it's so lovely is that you can go 00:14:45.68\00:14:48.02 to the same scripture multiple times 00:14:48.05\00:14:50.39 and get different things from it. 00:14:50.42\00:14:51.75 Yes. 00:14:51.79\00:14:53.12 The Holy Spirit can inspire you 00:14:53.15\00:14:54.49 a new way in the same old place, 00:14:54.52\00:14:57.59 so I love that. 00:14:57.63\00:14:58.99 So, you know, sometimes we read over things and, 00:14:59.03\00:15:02.90 you know, we get bored with it, but if you trust God, 00:15:02.93\00:15:06.30 I believe that God has new and fresh living water 00:15:06.33\00:15:09.70 that he can bring from the same old text. 00:15:09.74\00:15:11.81 I love that. 00:15:11.84\00:15:13.17 Okay, so get a good version, get the right tools, 00:15:13.21\00:15:17.91 and then read more deeply, 00:15:17.95\00:15:21.38 go over a passage there is no time limit on it, 00:15:21.42\00:15:24.99 you can just sit with the passage 00:15:25.02\00:15:27.52 and go through it. 00:15:27.56\00:15:28.89 And I love the idea of like getting a dictionary, 00:15:28.92\00:15:31.73 looking up some words. 00:15:31.76\00:15:33.09 I think it's so easy to just kind of superficially read 00:15:33.13\00:15:37.90 and feel like you've done 00:15:37.93\00:15:39.27 which you've had a do for the day, 00:15:39.30\00:15:40.70 the obligatory thing. 00:15:40.74\00:15:42.14 But what you're saying is dig deeper. 00:15:42.17\00:15:45.97 Okay, so give us some more. 00:15:46.01\00:15:48.08 I think a big key that we didn't start with 00:15:48.11\00:15:52.25 but I think should be infused 00:15:52.28\00:15:53.82 in your entire Bible study is prayer. 00:15:53.85\00:15:55.88 Yes. 00:15:55.92\00:15:57.65 Often times, you know, 00:15:57.69\00:15:59.02 we can use an academic approach to scripture, 00:15:59.05\00:16:01.79 you know it's there and you can read it, 00:16:01.82\00:16:03.93 and, you know, take a blade, 00:16:03.96\00:16:05.53 you know something quickly. 00:16:05.56\00:16:06.90 But it is the Holy Spirit who gives us the eyes to see 00:16:06.93\00:16:11.40 and so I have learnt to pray and ask the Lord 00:16:11.43\00:16:14.47 to show me what the Lord has for me in a text, 00:16:14.50\00:16:18.11 in the scripture. 00:16:18.14\00:16:19.57 There are some revelations 00:16:19.61\00:16:20.94 that will come without a dictionary, 00:16:20.98\00:16:23.31 without an encyclopedia. 00:16:23.35\00:16:25.61 Of course, we have to test all things 00:16:25.65\00:16:27.68 and prove all things. 00:16:27.72\00:16:29.08 But there's something 00:16:29.12\00:16:30.45 that God wants to also communicate with us. 00:16:30.49\00:16:33.25 So we have to take some time with the Lord in prayer 00:16:33.29\00:16:35.99 and allow Him to personally communicate to us 00:16:36.02\00:16:39.09 what He has for us in that scripture. 00:16:39.13\00:16:41.63 And then ultimately I think that 00:16:41.66\00:16:43.26 all of this is meant for us to share with someone else. 00:16:43.30\00:16:47.84 There have been sometimes 00:16:47.87\00:16:49.20 when the Lord would give a message 00:16:49.24\00:16:50.81 but that message really wasn't for me, it was for a co-worker, 00:16:50.84\00:16:53.78 it was for a friend, it was for a family member. 00:16:53.81\00:16:56.24 And so I believe in sharing good news, 00:16:56.28\00:16:59.18 I believe the Bible is good news, 00:16:59.21\00:17:00.85 the gospel is good news 00:17:00.88\00:17:02.48 and I believe that when we derive good news 00:17:02.52\00:17:05.52 from a scripture that God is hoping for us to share 00:17:05.55\00:17:07.59 that with someone else. 00:17:07.62\00:17:08.96 Oh, that's great, that is so good. 00:17:08.99\00:17:10.99 This... we have a cover up for you, 00:17:11.03\00:17:16.50 we wanna put the cover up so that you can see the book, 00:17:16.53\00:17:19.93 The Gospels Challenge, 00:17:19.97\00:17:21.30 30 days Through the Words and Miracles of Jesus. 00:17:21.34\00:17:25.11 And talk about the social media platforms 00:17:25.14\00:17:31.05 that you used this book were. 00:17:31.08\00:17:32.98 Absolutely, there is no secret 00:17:33.01\00:17:35.62 that most people are connected with at least one social media, 00:17:35.65\00:17:40.36 social media interface. 00:17:40.39\00:17:42.62 Facebook is I think my favorite. 00:17:42.66\00:17:45.69 But we used several of them to connect with people 00:17:45.73\00:17:49.66 who like the audience 00:17:49.70\00:17:52.33 that I hope the book would bless 00:17:52.37\00:17:54.67 and we're looking for a deeper walk with the Lord. 00:17:54.70\00:17:57.81 And we were able, through social media, 00:17:57.84\00:18:00.14 to do live broadcasts, speaking to people, 00:18:00.18\00:18:04.35 taking their questions, 00:18:04.38\00:18:05.71 sometimes just praising God over the text, 00:18:05.75\00:18:08.65 thanking Him for His revelation. 00:18:08.68\00:18:10.45 We talk about, you know, 30 minutes, 00:18:10.49\00:18:12.42 40 minutes a day in group Bible study, 00:18:12.45\00:18:15.96 but what I was hoping to do is to translate that love 00:18:15.99\00:18:20.33 and passion that I have for scripture for others. 00:18:20.36\00:18:23.83 Sometimes the last thing people wanna do 00:18:23.87\00:18:25.73 is pickup a Bible there. 00:18:25.77\00:18:27.17 You know, already yawning 00:18:27.20\00:18:28.54 and thinking that is gonna be boring, 00:18:28.57\00:18:30.74 but I realized that, you know, 00:18:30.77\00:18:32.34 sometimes you have to have a spark to get a fire going. 00:18:32.37\00:18:35.48 So I was just hoping to be that spark over social media 00:18:35.51\00:18:38.18 and praise God it actually worked for some of our people. 00:18:38.21\00:18:41.25 That's so great. 00:18:41.28\00:18:42.62 So it is actually a 30-day challenge... 00:18:42.65\00:18:45.09 Yes, it is. 00:18:45.12\00:18:46.45 That anybody can, 00:18:46.49\00:18:48.36 you can hand this at your Church 00:18:48.39\00:18:50.33 with your youth group 00:18:50.36\00:18:52.16 and with your Sabbath school class, 00:18:52.19\00:18:54.23 AY whatever. 00:18:54.26\00:18:55.60 Absolutely. 00:18:55.63\00:18:56.97 And get people to get more involved in the word. 00:18:57.00\00:19:00.24 I just think this is a wonderful tool. 00:19:00.27\00:19:02.20 You're available to come to different Churches, 00:19:02.24\00:19:05.54 we have your website, we'll put your website up 00:19:05.57\00:19:08.34 so that people can contact you, 00:19:08.38\00:19:10.78 and you can go to their Churches 00:19:10.81\00:19:12.55 and kind of get them started on the challenge. 00:19:12.58\00:19:15.58 Gladly and inside the book that information is all there 00:19:15.62\00:19:18.65 so when they get their copy of the book... 00:19:18.69\00:19:20.86 Right, that's right. 00:19:20.89\00:19:22.22 ..they can also have all that information if they want that. 00:19:22.26\00:19:23.73 Where can they, can they get it of the website? 00:19:23.76\00:19:25.26 Absolutely, yes, they can. Good. 00:19:25.29\00:19:27.03 And they can have as many copies, 00:19:27.06\00:19:28.66 you know, all of it is available for them. 00:19:28.70\00:19:31.23 Yeah, order it for your Church, for your Church groups, 00:19:31.27\00:19:33.94 I mean, this is so important 00:19:33.97\00:19:35.30 that we can't even emphasize enough 00:19:35.34\00:19:38.57 how important it is to get into the word 00:19:38.61\00:19:41.44 and we need tools that help us to get into the word 00:19:41.48\00:19:45.18 and that's what this is. 00:19:45.21\00:19:46.55 And when I saw this I thought 00:19:46.58\00:19:48.12 we had to have you on here to talk about this. 00:19:48.15\00:19:49.65 Oh, thank you. 00:19:49.68\00:19:51.02 ..to talk about this. 00:19:51.05\00:19:52.39 So tell us some of the challenges 00:19:52.42\00:19:55.19 that people come to you with, 00:19:55.22\00:19:58.26 like in things that, 00:19:58.29\00:20:01.90 excuses that they make about getting into the word, 00:20:01.93\00:20:05.43 and why they can't do it, 00:20:05.47\00:20:06.90 and then what you tell them. 00:20:06.94\00:20:09.17 Well, we live in a society that is being overwhelmed. 00:20:09.20\00:20:15.58 And we're overwhelmed with stimuli from our families 00:20:15.61\00:20:20.58 and our responsibility to them, 00:20:20.62\00:20:22.68 our work and our responsibilities there, 00:20:22.72\00:20:25.39 but then there is also media everywhere 00:20:25.42\00:20:28.32 that's clamoring for our attention 00:20:28.36\00:20:30.56 and makes for a time 00:20:30.59\00:20:32.19 where we seldom have any space to meditate on anything. 00:20:32.23\00:20:37.40 You know. 00:20:37.43\00:20:38.77 And so, most people are trying to find anytime 00:20:38.80\00:20:43.17 to be able to do it. 00:20:43.20\00:20:45.17 And I realize that with making time for the Lord 00:20:45.21\00:20:50.61 you have to actually carve out, designate a time. 00:20:50.65\00:20:55.62 Sometimes having to wake up 30 minutes ahead of time, 00:20:55.65\00:20:59.15 sometimes having to go to bed a little earlier, 00:20:59.19\00:21:02.66 but it is the fight of our life to just make time. 00:21:02.69\00:21:07.90 And I believe that it's intentional, 00:21:07.93\00:21:09.96 our enemy who will like to choke out any connection 00:21:10.00\00:21:13.90 that we have to heaven so that we're powerless. 00:21:13.94\00:21:17.14 This is something I've been talking to people 00:21:17.17\00:21:19.14 about as of late 00:21:19.17\00:21:20.74 that because that hour is short 00:21:20.78\00:21:23.38 and our Savior is coming back soon 00:21:23.41\00:21:25.65 that we are more and more inundated with stimuli 00:21:25.68\00:21:29.02 to cut us off from heaven. 00:21:29.05\00:21:31.09 It is myth so that we will be powerless 00:21:31.12\00:21:33.59 against the enemy. 00:21:33.62\00:21:35.32 It is not something that 00:21:35.36\00:21:36.69 we're gonna be able to do haphazardly, 00:21:36.73\00:21:39.73 it's something that we have to fight for, 00:21:39.76\00:21:41.76 we have to fight for the time 00:21:41.80\00:21:43.87 to spin with heaven in the same way 00:21:43.90\00:21:46.10 that you will fight for breath if you were drowning, 00:21:46.13\00:21:48.30 we have to fight for the time to connect with heaven 00:21:48.34\00:21:51.27 so that we can be effective in warfare. 00:21:51.31\00:21:54.21 I love that, I love that because that's so true. 00:21:54.24\00:21:57.78 Distraction... 00:21:57.81\00:21:59.15 Absolutely. 00:21:59.18\00:22:00.52 ..is one of His primary tools 00:22:00.55\00:22:03.08 and I'm noticing like, I like to watch television, 00:22:03.12\00:22:06.86 it's just true confessions is good for the soul. 00:22:06.89\00:22:09.09 As Danny says, 00:22:09.12\00:22:10.46 "Good for the soul bad for the reputation". 00:22:10.49\00:22:12.09 So... 00:22:12.13\00:22:13.46 And I noticed there are more and more programs coming on 00:22:13.50\00:22:17.63 that I really like and I have to make 00:22:17.67\00:22:20.27 a conscious decision 00:22:20.30\00:22:21.64 that I'm not gonna watch so much television that, 00:22:21.67\00:22:24.81 except 3ABN of course. 00:22:24.84\00:22:28.14 Of course, they're all... 00:22:28.18\00:22:29.51 The spiritual television, that's one thing, 00:22:29.54\00:22:30.91 secular is another. 00:22:30.95\00:22:32.65 And... 00:22:32.68\00:22:34.22 But it's a conscious decision, 00:22:34.25\00:22:36.55 it's where we yield our will to God 00:22:36.58\00:22:39.75 because otherwise as you said, as you said, 00:22:39.79\00:22:42.92 the enemy is doing all he can do now 00:22:42.96\00:22:45.89 to turn us away from heaven, 00:22:45.93\00:22:48.56 to disconnect us from the power source. 00:22:48.60\00:22:51.67 And if we don't get into that word, 00:22:51.70\00:22:54.30 we won't have anything to fight with. 00:22:54.34\00:22:56.04 Absolutely. 00:22:56.07\00:22:57.41 Nothing to fight with. 00:22:57.44\00:22:58.77 So that's I totally agree 00:22:58.81\00:23:02.34 that we have to make a conscious decision to do it. 00:23:02.38\00:23:06.08 Are you finding that young people 00:23:06.11\00:23:07.75 are getting into the word more deeply 00:23:07.78\00:23:10.39 as a result of the book? 00:23:10.42\00:23:11.82 Yes. 00:23:11.85\00:23:13.32 I've had so many testimonials of individuals 00:23:13.36\00:23:16.39 who would enjoy the book enough 00:23:16.42\00:23:18.73 to start their own devotional life. 00:23:18.76\00:23:20.56 It's been beautiful to hear 00:23:20.60\00:23:22.80 how the small spark that God started in me 00:23:22.83\00:23:25.47 has started flames and fires in other people. 00:23:25.50\00:23:27.90 It's been incredible. 00:23:27.94\00:23:29.40 That's great. 00:23:29.44\00:23:30.77 How has writing this book changed the way you write, 00:23:30.81\00:23:34.44 your whole approach to writing? 00:23:34.48\00:23:36.08 And you're writing another book right now? 00:23:36.11\00:23:37.61 You know, I'm working on a couple of things. 00:23:37.65\00:23:42.18 That it taught me that 00:23:42.22\00:23:45.52 if you start little by little that it comes together. 00:23:45.55\00:23:49.99 I had always assumed that you had to sit down 00:23:50.03\00:23:52.89 and write in the entire book in about three or four days, 00:23:52.93\00:23:55.83 I don't know why but I was made that assumption. 00:23:55.86\00:23:57.47 Did you really? 00:23:57.50\00:23:58.83 I did, but God allowed me to write that book 00:23:58.87\00:24:02.27 one devotional at a time. 00:24:02.30\00:24:04.27 I sat down to my computer 00:24:04.31\00:24:05.87 and just wrote one day at a time. 00:24:05.91\00:24:08.08 I didn't overwhelm myself with two or three days, 00:24:08.11\00:24:10.61 just one day at a time based upon the reading 00:24:10.65\00:24:13.52 that I had done that day. 00:24:13.55\00:24:15.48 And when I did it that way, it was manageable. 00:24:15.52\00:24:19.52 I would love and when I'm working on, 00:24:19.55\00:24:22.39 it's a project about Hope. 00:24:22.42\00:24:24.46 We have so many people who have lost hope 00:24:24.49\00:24:26.86 because of mistakes they've made in life. 00:24:26.90\00:24:29.36 And I believe that God can use my testimony 00:24:29.40\00:24:32.00 along with the testimony of so many other people 00:24:32.03\00:24:34.17 in scripture to show that 00:24:34.20\00:24:35.90 as long you have God you have hope. 00:24:35.94\00:24:38.34 That's so good. 00:24:38.37\00:24:39.71 Indeed. 00:24:39.74\00:24:41.08 So your focus right now is on giving people hope 00:24:41.11\00:24:46.31 that they can begin again in Christ? 00:24:46.35\00:24:48.38 Absolutely. That's so good. 00:24:48.42\00:24:49.75 Because so many people feel as though I've gone too far, 00:24:49.78\00:24:54.72 God can't forgive me, I'm not good enough, 00:24:54.76\00:24:58.03 I'll never be good enough that kind of thing. 00:24:58.06\00:25:00.23 So you're giving them the one thing 00:25:00.26\00:25:02.90 that people need, yeah, 00:25:02.93\00:25:04.77 of course, besides Jesus, of course, 00:25:04.80\00:25:07.27 people need hope of a better tomorrow. 00:25:07.30\00:25:10.64 Yes. So how are you approaching this project? 00:25:10.67\00:25:13.11 Well, my major focus is that 00:25:13.14\00:25:16.58 Jesus Christ represents the hope that we need. 00:25:16.61\00:25:20.32 In scripture there are so many pictures 00:25:20.35\00:25:23.28 right in those gospels of Jesus coming to people 00:25:23.32\00:25:26.65 who were at the end of a bad decision 00:25:26.69\00:25:29.99 and infusing them with the hope 00:25:30.03\00:25:31.99 that because He was a part of their life 00:25:32.03\00:25:34.13 so they can start again. 00:25:34.16\00:25:36.06 It's like the woman at the well who has, you know, 00:25:36.10\00:25:39.43 basically spent all with her reputation, 00:25:39.47\00:25:42.34 she is out there by herself and Jesus lets her know, 00:25:42.37\00:25:45.37 you know, if you know 00:25:45.41\00:25:46.74 who I was you'd ask me for living water. 00:25:46.78\00:25:49.44 I can put a well inside of you 00:25:49.48\00:25:51.08 that will spring up into eternal life. 00:25:51.11\00:25:53.05 I mean, isn't that beautiful? Yes, yes. 00:25:53.08\00:25:54.92 I'll not only give you the resource 00:25:54.95\00:25:56.58 but I will make you a source of the resource for others. 00:25:56.62\00:25:59.59 Yes. 00:25:59.62\00:26:00.96 And God wants to do that for all of us 00:26:00.99\00:26:03.46 to take us from our dry places 00:26:03.49\00:26:06.46 and put inside of us the very thing 00:26:06.49\00:26:08.50 we were searching for. 00:26:08.53\00:26:09.96 Now we become a tributary to other people. 00:26:10.00\00:26:12.33 Just beautiful. I love it, I love it. 00:26:12.37\00:26:14.60 And I love your passion for the word 00:26:14.64\00:26:16.71 and your passion for Jesus, 00:26:16.74\00:26:18.81 and your passion for your ministry. 00:26:18.84\00:26:20.61 Thank you. Praise God. 00:26:20.64\00:26:21.98 How are things going in South Central Conference 00:26:22.01\00:26:24.35 with Youth Ministries? 00:26:24.38\00:26:25.71 Absolutely fabulous. 00:26:25.75\00:26:27.88 We've been doing some wonderful things 00:26:27.92\00:26:29.62 we have some conferences coming up, 00:26:29.65\00:26:32.52 namely one for young women. 00:26:32.55\00:26:34.62 We're hoping to inject and infuse hope 00:26:34.66\00:26:38.03 and good decisions in them. 00:26:38.06\00:26:40.76 So we're working on some things. 00:26:40.80\00:26:42.33 It's been really good, the response has been great. 00:26:42.36\00:26:45.43 We've been fighting for our young adults as you know, 00:26:45.47\00:26:48.07 they are disappearing demographic in our Churches 00:26:48.10\00:26:50.97 across the board, 00:26:51.01\00:26:52.34 Protestant Churches across the board 00:26:52.37\00:26:54.01 are losing our young adults. 00:26:54.04\00:26:56.98 We're trying to find some solutions 00:26:57.01\00:26:58.45 to get them integrating into our churches. 00:26:58.48\00:27:00.75 So please pray for us 00:27:00.78\00:27:02.72 as we work on those initiatives. 00:27:02.75\00:27:04.25 Yes. Yes, we will. 00:27:04.29\00:27:06.29 And I also have to say that 00:27:06.32\00:27:09.36 your name is no longer just Lola Moore. 00:27:09.39\00:27:12.49 Indeed.
