" so to speak, 00:02:13.63\00:02:16.26 so we absolutely had no religious kind of... 00:02:16.30\00:02:18.53 or Christian kind of upbringing, 00:02:18.57\00:02:20.14 wonderful, wonderful parents, though, 00:02:20.20\00:02:22.17 I had amazing, amazing parents but they just... 00:02:22.20\00:02:24.54 they had come from homes where 00:02:24.57\00:02:26.21 Christianity was kind of shoved down their throats, 00:02:26.24\00:02:28.84 so they were kind of really... 00:02:28.88\00:02:31.15 had a very unpleasant view of it 00:02:31.18\00:02:33.38 so, they kind of... and since they grew up 00:02:33.42\00:02:34.85 they left kind of that... that experience, so... 00:02:34.88\00:02:36.72 It's so sad, right, that many times 00:02:36.75\00:02:40.76 Christianity does get forced 00:02:40.82\00:02:43.12 and instead of people understanding 00:02:43.16\00:02:45.36 and having a relationship with Jesus, 00:02:45.39\00:02:47.76 the rules get really forced on them. 00:02:47.83\00:02:50.13 I know, I see a lot of parents get very tough on their kids 00:02:50.17\00:02:52.07 with... you know... "you must do this... do this... 00:02:52.10\00:02:54.30 do this... " and you kind of got to have that balance 00:02:54.34\00:02:56.64 because they're going to make their own decisions 00:02:56.67\00:02:58.44 at the end of the day and you got to kind of delay them, 00:02:58.47\00:03:00.81 I think, and it's a very hard balance, but... yes. 00:03:00.88\00:03:03.71 Yeah, yeah, so, you weren't in a Christian home, 00:03:03.75\00:03:06.55 but you became a Christian, how? 00:03:06.58\00:03:09.12 That's right... well I went to a High School, 00:03:09.15\00:03:10.69 I went to a secular High School in New Zealand 00:03:10.72\00:03:12.59 and I met a friend there who was an Adventist, 00:03:12.62\00:03:14.09 and we got along really well 00:03:14.12\00:03:15.76 and he invited me to some Youth activities... 00:03:15.79\00:03:17.43 and I really enjoyed them, got to know some new friends 00:03:17.46\00:03:20.56 and while I was there he dragged me along 00:03:20.60\00:03:21.96 to some prophecy seminars and things like that... 00:03:22.03\00:03:23.83 and really enjoyed them and about that time, 00:03:23.87\00:03:25.77 I kind of was thinking... 00:03:25.83\00:03:27.17 you know, "What's the point of life? 00:03:27.20\00:03:28.54 I mean, we just die and it's just blankness 00:03:28.57\00:03:30.61 and there's death and there's nothing and I was like, 00:03:30.67\00:03:32.17 what's the point of life?" 00:03:32.21\00:03:33.54 and so the times I was thinking that... 00:03:33.58\00:03:35.41 I... you know... this great message came along 00:03:35.44\00:03:37.75 all the prophecies of the Bible just came clear, 00:03:37.78\00:03:40.02 so I was like, "Hey, these guys have got it together... " 00:03:40.05\00:03:41.58 and so it really clear message as to what's happening 00:03:41.62\00:03:43.52 in this world I get saved, I live forever, 00:03:43.59\00:03:46.55 and I just signed up, I was sold. 00:03:46.59\00:03:48.39 Oh man! that's beautiful, that's beautiful, 00:03:48.42\00:03:50.86 it's amazing isn't it how the Holy Spirit will woo you 00:03:50.89\00:03:54.26 how He'll work on you because you had begun to think about, 00:03:54.30\00:03:57.80 "What's the meaning of life?" Jeremy: Exactly... 00:03:57.83\00:03:59.43 "Why am I here... like... what?" 00:03:59.47\00:04:01.04 And at that time, your friend invited you 00:04:01.07\00:04:04.44 to Seminars and stuff like that. Jeremy: Yes. 00:04:04.47\00:04:07.48 It's like God just knows what we need... when we need it 00:04:07.51\00:04:11.98 and He knows how to bring us from this point to this point. 00:04:12.01\00:04:15.05 He does... 00:04:15.08\00:04:16.42 But influence is critical... 00:04:16.45\00:04:18.32 and you are using your influence in cooking... 00:04:18.35\00:04:21.92 Jeremy: Yes. 00:04:21.96\00:04:23.29 Yvonne: Tell us about that... tell us about that. 00:04:23.32\00:04:26.59 So, I worked for a... after I finished University... 00:04:26.63\00:04:30.73 I worked for an Adventist company 00:04:30.77\00:04:32.10 in New Zealand called Sanitarium... 00:04:32.13\00:04:33.47 I don't know if you've heard of it or not, it's a... 00:04:33.50\00:04:34.84 it's kind of like the Kellogg's of New Zealand and Australia. 00:04:34.87\00:04:36.50 Yvonne: Oh... okay... 00:04:36.54\00:04:37.87 It's run by the Adventist Church, 00:04:37.91\00:04:39.24 wonderful, wonderful company to work through... for... 00:04:39.27\00:04:41.48 so, I worked for them for about ten years in Marketing roles 00:04:41.51\00:04:43.98 and Executive-type roles and had a lot of fun there. 00:04:44.01\00:04:47.22 Now, were you cooking at that time? 00:04:47.25\00:04:49.15 No, no, I was just doing... kind of marketing stuff 00:04:49.18\00:04:50.89 and business stuff... 00:04:50.92\00:04:52.25 but then I kind of started getting interested in health, 00:04:52.29\00:04:54.66 the Company was a... had a big health focus, 00:04:54.69\00:04:57.03 and I kind of went to a point where I kind of wanted 00:04:57.09\00:04:58.73 a bit more of a reach-out with God, 00:04:58.76\00:05:00.10 kind of, you hear all these... inspired... you know these... 00:05:00.13\00:05:02.43 you read these books of people who did amazing things in life, 00:05:02.46\00:05:04.80 well, I want a life like that... 00:05:04.83\00:05:06.40 so I kind of said, "I want to go and do something risky 00:05:06.43\00:05:08.54 and take the plunge and give it a go... I love that smell... 00:22:32.41\00:22:34.02 Then I'll think, "Okay, what shall I cook now?" 00:22:34.05\00:22:36.08 that's just my starting point, and I'll add some ginger, 00:22:36.12\00:22:38.62 some Thai curry paste and just some nice vegetables... 00:22:38.65\00:22:41.19 whatever I bought from the veggie shop that day... 00:22:41.22\00:22:43.69 some nice protein like some tofu, 00:22:43.73\00:22:45.86 just some beautiful flavors, some nice wholesome foods 00:22:45.89\00:22:48.83 with fresh vegetables 00:22:48.86\00:22:50.20 and to finish it off, I love a smoothie. 00:22:50.23\00:22:52.20 Oh... 00:22:52.23\00:22:53.57 That's my favorite thing to have as dessert... 00:22:53.60\00:22:54.94 just some frozen fruit from the freezer, 00:22:54.97\00:22:56.34 a banana, a little bit of almond milk, 00:22:56.37\00:22:58.07 you got yourself an instant healthy dessert, 00:22:58.11\00:23:00.41 so that's kind of my go-to combination at home. 00:23:00.44\00:23:02.68 Yeah... yeah... yeah... what about... 00:23:02.74\00:23:04.48 what about your wife, what does she like? 00:23:04.51\00:23:05.85 She likes everything that I cook, 00:23:05.88\00:23:07.42 well, she says she does, anyway... 00:23:07.45\00:23:08.95 Yvonne: Does she cook at home? 00:23:08.98\00:23:10.32 She does, she's a wonderful cook. 00:23:10.35\00:23:11.69 I'm normally trying to get in there, 00:23:11.72\00:23:13.42 trying to get something new for my next cookbook 00:23:13.46\00:23:15.02 so, I kind of take over the kitchen... 00:23:15.06\00:23:16.39 which she loves... no worries, 00:23:16.42\00:23:17.79 she loves to eat, she loves things very fresh, 00:23:17.83\00:23:20.60 so she loves lots of fresh vegetables and things... 00:23:20.66\00:23:23.37 she's always like, "Jeremy, put some more 00:23:23.43\00:23:24.77 fruits and vegetables" she goes to the fridge 00:23:24.80\00:23:26.13 and dredges it... put some broccoli in, 00:23:26.17\00:23:27.50 put some of this as well so... 00:23:27.54\00:23:28.87 that's... I think she's wonderful. 00:23:28.90\00:23:30.34 Ah, that's good, now you have another product 00:23:30.41\00:23:33.38 called... something that I have fallen in love with, 00:23:33.41\00:23:37.25 I have to tell you, I love Frooze Balls... 00:23:37.28\00:23:40.32 tell our Viewers what those are. 00:23:40.35\00:23:42.82 And this is another little adventure that came, 00:23:42.85\00:23:44.42 so I started this Cafe and we made this product called 00:23:44.45\00:23:46.65 "Bliss Balls" which is a fruit and nut ball 00:23:46.69\00:23:48.32 and in the Cafe my staff would put 00:23:48.36\00:23:50.63 fruit and nuts in a food processor, 00:23:50.66\00:23:52.89 you see... much like this one over here, 00:23:52.93\00:23:54.30 and basically blend it up and roll it into little balls 00:23:54.33\00:23:56.97 and so you've got these lovely little... kind of 00:23:57.00\00:23:58.33 you have truffle-type things... fruit and nut balls 00:23:58.37\00:24:01.90 and they sell really well in the Cafe 00:24:01.97\00:24:04.21 but my staff hated rolling them 00:24:04.27\00:24:06.01 and we were breaking all those food processors 00:24:06.04\00:24:07.84 with the hard nuts and I had a friend, 00:24:07.88\00:24:09.51 a pretty good friend who said to me, 00:24:09.54\00:24:11.25 "I can make a machine to make those... " 00:24:11.28\00:24:12.91 so he did... and we started a little company and... 00:24:12.95\00:24:16.79 He made a machine to actually crush the nuts 00:24:16.82\00:24:20.22 that are in there and... 00:24:20.26\00:24:21.59 Yes... so we blend them up first 00:24:21.62\00:24:22.96 and we put them in this little machine that basically 00:24:22.99\00:24:24.89 forms them and presses them 00:24:24.93\00:24:26.26 and all these little balls come out of them, 00:24:26.29\00:24:27.63 it's an amazing little machine. Yvonne: Wow. 00:24:27.66\00:24:29.40 And we started a little company and started selling them 00:24:29.43\00:24:31.53 in some of the health shops, and a couple of years later 00:24:31.60\00:24:33.67 we started selling them to the Super Markets 00:24:33.70\00:24:35.20 and it's now a big selling product in New Zealand 00:24:35.24\00:24:37.71 so, and they come in... you would do a cranberry one, 00:24:37.74\00:24:40.14 a banana one, an apricot... 00:24:40.18\00:24:41.51 an original one and we've now got a peanut butter one 00:24:41.54\00:24:43.98 and they are just amazing little snacks. 00:24:44.01\00:24:46.15 I'll tell you what... the cranberry ones... 00:24:46.18\00:24:48.28 oh my goodness...
