Thank you, thank you. 00:01:14.30\00:01:16.14 Yes, yes, so everybody wants to know 00:01:16.17\00:01:19.47 what does NAPS stand for? 00:01:19.51\00:01:21.11 Well, NAPS stands for the 00:01:21.14\00:01:22.68 National Association for the Prevention of Starvation 00:01:22.71\00:01:25.61 and it basically just means it's an Organization 00:01:25.65\00:01:28.32 that's dedicated to meeting people's needs 00:01:28.35\00:01:30.59 not only their physical, but their spiritual as well. 00:01:30.65\00:01:33.09 Wow! that's deep. 00:01:33.12\00:01:34.46 Well, I've heard that you all have done 00:01:34.49\00:01:36.79 so many amazing things and we're going to get to that, 00:01:36.83\00:01:39.63 we're going to get to that in this Program 00:01:39.66\00:01:40.96 I want to hear the miracle stories, 00:01:41.00\00:01:42.43 I want to know, just everything that you guys 00:01:42.46\00:01:46.33 have witnessed as this Organization has progressed 00:01:46.37\00:01:48.97 but who is your ministry comprised of? 00:01:49.00\00:01:52.34 Well, our ministry is mostly comprised of 00:01:52.37\00:01:55.58 college students and graduates, 00:01:55.61\00:01:57.18 the Organization has been in existence since 1978 00:01:57.21\00:02:01.15 and honestly, whoever so willed, 00:02:01.18\00:02:04.52 we invite them to come out and serve. 00:02:04.55\00:02:06.39 Praise God, now, there's a common misconception 00:02:06.42\00:02:10.56 everybody... a lot of people... 00:02:10.63\00:02:12.96 I won't say "everybody" but a lot of people 00:02:12.99\00:02:14.73 think that NAPS is Oakwood and NAPS... 00:02:14.76\00:02:18.83 like what's the relationship there 00:02:18.87\00:02:20.74 because a lot of people think NAPS is a part of Oakwood. 00:02:20.80\00:02:23.77 Well, thank you so much, Jason, for asking that question, 00:02:23.81\00:02:26.74 actually NAPS was founded 00:02:26.78\00:02:29.08 at the wonderful campus of Oakwood University. 00:02:29.11\00:02:31.75 It was founded by the former 00:02:31.78\00:02:34.02 Dean of Biology there, Dr. Anthony Paul, 00:02:34.08\00:02:36.32 and it was there for about 35 years 00:02:36.35\00:02:39.09 but we've recently been able to have our own establishment 00:02:39.12\00:02:42.52 where we have a Wellness Center, we're about to have a school, 00:02:42.56\00:02:45.83 and so it was originally founded there, 00:02:45.86\00:02:48.03 however, we're now our own Institution, or Entity. 00:02:48.06\00:02:51.63 And so, how did NAPS start, 00:02:51.67\00:02:54.30 I want to direct this question to you Darnell, 00:02:54.34\00:02:56.84 how did NAPS start as far as, 00:02:56.87\00:02:59.31 what was the reasoning behind it, 00:02:59.37\00:03:01.84 who saw the need for it to come about 00:03:01.88\00:03:04.28 and how did it come into fruition? 00:03:04.31\00:03:06.72 That's a very good question, 00:03:06.75\00:03:08.35 so NAPS started off with college students 00:03:08.38\00:03:11.32 in 1978, they saw a need, they saw that there were people 00:03:11.35\00:03:18.66 who were under a bridge, who did not have any food, 00:03:18.69\00:03:21.73 who were in despair, 00:03:21.76\00:03:24.03 and they said, "You know what, we have so much" 00:03:24.07\00:03:26.37 I mean, it doesn't hurt us to go out 00:03:26.40\00:03:28.67 and give food to those who are hungry, 00:03:28.70\00:03:30.87 and so it started off small, you know, 00:03:30.91\00:03:32.94 they just started going out after church on Sabbath 00:03:32.97\00:03:35.61 and giving out food, and then they said, 00:03:35.64\00:03:37.91 "This is great, you know, we're making an impact, 00:03:37.95\00:03:40.08 but we want to do more," 00:03:40.12\00:03:41.48 and so they started saying, "You know what, 00:03:41.52\00:03:44.25 what if we went out into the Community 00:03:44.29\00:03:45.95 on Sabbaths and go out and... 00:03:45.99\00:03:47.96 go out and work with the children 00:03:47.99\00:03:50.03 teaching them more about the love of God, 00:03:50.09\00:03:52.73 working with them and telling them that 00:03:52.76\00:03:55.30 even though they may have been born in certain situations 00:03:55.33\00:03:57.70 or go through certain things that they still have hope, 00:03:57.73\00:04:00.44 they still can be successful" and that would give... 00:04:00.47\00:04:02.94 but then there was like... "You know, 00:04:02.97\00:04:04.91 this is great but we want to do more" 00:04:04.94\00:04:06.88 and so NAPS started going overseas to different countries, 00:04:06.91\00:04:09.94 our first mission trip was to Haiti 00:04:09.98\00:04:12.11 and now, we've been to over 23 different countries 00:04:12.18\00:04:15.52 across the globe, in Asia, South America, 00:04:15.55\00:04:18.89 in Africa, going around as missionaries for Christ. 00:04:18.92\00:04:22.29 Wow! that's huge, I love the fact that you guys 00:04:22.36\00:04:25.69 saw the need and by God's grace 00:04:25.73\00:04:30.07 you filled that need because, helping to develop the youth, 00:04:30.13\00:04:33.64 you know... it says... the Bible says, 00:04:33.70\00:04:35.60 "Train up a child in the way he should go... 00:04:35.64\00:04:37.37 or the way that they should go... " 00:04:37.41\00:04:39.54 and I think that that's so important 00:04:39.57\00:04:42.24 because you establish that foundation 00:04:42.28\00:04:44.88 which is very important 00:04:44.95\00:04:47.38 now, going through all these trips, 00:04:47.48\00:04:50.45 I know that it gets expensive, okay, 00:04:50.49\00:04:53.62 so, where is the financial support? 00:04:53.66\00:04:56.69 Well, one of the things that really helps our ministry, 00:04:56.73\00:05:02.36 we like to say, "It's a bunch of $5 bills," 00:05:02.40\00:05:05.00 Okay. but, it's different donors 00:05:05.03\00:05:07.84 from all over, different churches support us, 00:05:07.87\00:05:10.61 different schools, our parents, they support us, 00:05:10.64\00:05:13.24 we do a lot of canvassing, 00:05:13.31\00:05:15.04 we actually have a Pathfinder Band 00:05:15.08\00:05:16.75 that we'll use, and we'll march down the street 00:05:16.78\00:05:19.08 playing music, and people give... that way... 00:05:19.11\00:05:21.38 Well, that's a wonderful... 00:05:21.42\00:05:23.99 it's a blessing to support ministries 00:05:24.02\00:05:26.52 that are helping to further the gospel of Jesus Christ, 00:05:26.55\00:05:29.56 what disasters have you all helped people in? 00:05:29.59\00:05:34.83 So we've... we've been able to help with a lot of disasters 00:05:34.83\00:05:40.10 God has just really been good 00:05:40.14\00:05:41.47 and He just sets us up to be able to help 00:05:41.50\00:05:44.94 at the right time and so, we were able to go out 00:05:44.97\00:05:48.48 after 9/11, our team went... 00:05:48.51\00:05:50.81 all the way back in 2001 and our team went 00:05:50.85\00:05:54.32 and they hugged the families, we brought a Marching Band, 00:05:54.35\00:05:59.65 we were playing our Band, just encouraging families, 00:05:59.69\00:06:02.36 after Hurricane Katrina our team was there, 00:06:02.39\00:06:05.36 after the Haiti earthquake, our team was there, 00:06:05.39\00:06:08.16 and even after the Moore Oklahoma Tornadoes, 00:06:08.20\00:06:10.67 I was privileged to be a part of the mission 00:06:10.70\00:06:13.00 where we were able to go and help them with the rebuild 00:06:13.03\00:06:17.81 after their homes were destroyed, 00:06:17.84\00:06:19.37 I've never seen such destruction where I would look and see 00:06:19.44\00:06:22.91 miles and miles of houses destroyed 00:06:22.98\00:06:26.11 and places just really devastated, 00:06:26.15\00:06:29.22 and I'd see cars flipped over, everything... 00:06:29.25\00:06:32.99 and it was just a blessing to be able to go and be there 00:06:33.02\00:06:37.13 that time of hurting for those people 00:06:37.16\00:06:38.99 and we even sang at some of the funerals 00:06:39.03\00:06:40.83 of the children who died as well as the school there 00:06:40.90\00:06:43.57 so it was just a blessing. 00:06:43.63\00:06:45.07 One significant tragedy 00:06:45.10\00:06:47.20 that we were able to be a part of as well 00:06:47.24\00:06:48.94 was the Sandy Hook tragedy, 00:06:48.97\00:06:50.37 and we all know that many of those precious children 00:06:50.41\00:06:53.11 were killed but NAPS was actually privileged 00:06:53.14\00:06:56.08 not only to go and be among those who were mourning 00:06:56.11\00:06:59.05 but several of the families actually invited us 00:06:59.08\00:07:02.05 into their private moment, where at the funeral services 00:07:02.08\00:07:05.25 we were able to sing for those families 00:07:05.29\00:07:07.19 and not only that, but I'll never forget, 00:07:07.22\00:07:09.09 one of the families was actually an Atheist family, 00:07:09.12\00:07:11.59 and they were kind of saying, 00:07:11.63\00:07:13.03 "We don't why we've allowed you guys to come 00:07:13.06\00:07:15.16 but we just feel like this is the right thing to do" 00:07:15.20\00:07:17.17 and even at that Service, 00:07:17.20\00:07:18.77 we were able to give out some literature 00:07:18.80\00:07:21.34 and just to pray with the families and encourage them 00:07:21.37\00:07:24.01 so, it's just amazing how God will put His people 00:07:24.04\00:07:26.57 in the right places 00:07:26.61\00:07:28.01 when you step out for someone else. 00:07:28.04\00:07:30.98 Absolutely, now, with these disasters, 00:07:31.01\00:07:33.85 how do you guys come together as an Organization, 00:07:33.92\00:07:37.12 how do you strategize, how do you plan 00:07:37.19\00:07:39.29 how you're going to handle these situations? 00:07:39.32\00:07:43.43 Well, basically, 00:07:43.46\00:07:46.80 we've been training every Tuesday and Thursday morning, 00:07:46.83\00:07:50.23 and our training not only consists of Bible Study but also 00:07:50.27\00:07:54.14 in the event of a disaster what are we going to do, 00:07:54.20\00:07:56.97 even when we travel from different cities, 00:07:57.01\00:07:59.54 we may stay at churches or homes 00:07:59.61\00:08:02.31 where you basically have to be ready to rough it 00:08:02.34\00:08:05.08 because you don't know what kind of disaster situation 00:08:05.11\00:08:07.82 you're going to be in or when we go overseas on our trips, 00:08:07.85\00:08:10.52 we don't necessarily stay in a hotel, 00:08:10.55\00:08:12.35 we'll live with the people in huts where they live 00:08:12.39\00:08:16.59 is kind of where we're going to live 00:08:16.62\00:08:17.96 for six weeks, two months, 00:08:17.99\00:08:19.33 whatever the timeframe may be so a lot of times 00:08:19.36\00:08:22.33 going to those different churches 00:08:22.36\00:08:23.70 and cities, and, maybe sleeping on a church floor, 00:08:23.77\00:08:26.17 that is our best training for these types of scenarios. 00:08:26.20\00:08:29.67 Wow! wow, wow, 00:08:29.70\00:08:32.07 so it encompasses that self-sacrifice 00:08:32.11\00:08:36.75 you want to go, you want to live with the people 00:08:36.78\00:08:38.91 how they're living and you want to help bring them up 00:08:38.95\00:08:41.72 that is amazing, how does this... 00:08:41.75\00:08:45.39 how is this line of ministry... 00:08:45.42\00:08:47.89 how has this impacted your life, 00:08:47.92\00:08:49.76 let's start with you Darnell. 00:08:49.79\00:08:51.56 Yeah, well, this ministry has impacted my life 00:08:51.59\00:08:56.43 in ways that I cannot even put to words, 00:08:56.46\00:08:58.83 when I made the decision 00:08:58.87\00:09:01.84 after running for a while to come back to God, 00:09:01.87\00:09:05.01 to develop my relationship with Him, 00:09:05.04\00:09:08.54 I was in class 00:09:08.61\00:09:10.88 and my college professor, he was saying that 00:09:10.91\00:09:13.45 there was going to be food at his house, 00:09:13.48\00:09:15.88 and you can come, it was free dinner, free food, 00:09:15.92\00:09:19.15 and as a college student, I was like, 00:09:19.19\00:09:20.99 "This sounds like... something that 00:09:21.02\00:09:22.76 maybe in my best interest to go" 00:09:22.79\00:09:24.63 and so I went 00:09:24.66\00:09:28.70 and it was actually a NAPS meeting, okay, 00:09:28.73\00:09:31.27 but they did have food, but it was a NAPS Meeting 00:09:31.30\00:09:35.07 and Worship and while I was there 00:09:35.14\00:09:37.97 the Lord just kept impressing it upon my heart 00:09:38.01\00:09:40.61 to go... to go... and I'm just like, 00:09:40.68\00:09:42.61 "Lord... " I had so many excuses, 00:09:42.64\00:09:44.55 I felt like Moses when God was telling him to go and speak 00:09:44.58\00:09:48.35 and he was like, "But Lord... " that's how I felt 00:09:48.38\00:09:51.39 I'm like, "Lord, I'm inadequate, 00:09:51.42\00:09:53.25 I just came back to serving you again, 00:09:53.29\00:09:57.06 I need more time to develop my relationship, 00:09:57.13\00:09:59.49 I'm not holy enough, I'm not good enough, 00:09:59.53\00:10:01.83 I'm not trained enough," and God was just like, 00:10:01.86\00:10:04.17 "My grace is sufficient for you, just go... " 00:10:04.23\00:10:06.43 and I said, "Okay, I'm going to go on this mission," 00:10:06.47\00:10:09.34 and I went on that mission 00:10:09.37\00:10:10.87 and it was just a blessing to be on the mission field, 00:10:10.91\00:10:14.31 and to be able to minister to people 00:10:14.38\00:10:16.58 and it's just time and time again 00:10:16.61\00:10:18.75 their expression of joy 00:10:18.78\00:10:20.68 and really they just don't understand 00:10:20.72\00:10:23.69 a lot of times how we will go and give up 00:10:23.75\00:10:26.49 the comforts of our own homes and go and minister to them 00:10:26.52\00:10:29.72 to meet their needs and just seeing that 00:10:29.76\00:10:32.66 and experiencing that... 00:10:32.73\00:10:34.03 for me has really changed my life, 00:10:34.10\00:10:35.43 it really has deepened 00:10:35.46\00:10:37.53 my relationship with God 00:10:37.57\00:10:39.60 and really encouraged me to keep doing service 00:10:39.63\00:10:41.50 and even to add on to that, 00:10:41.54\00:10:43.34 I really believe that God had given me practical skills 00:10:43.37\00:10:46.94 even in being in this ministry to like... 00:10:47.01\00:10:49.54 we were able to build a Wellness Center 00:10:49.61\00:10:52.15 in Southern Alabama 00:10:52.18\00:10:53.55 and I was able to do some electrical work, 00:10:53.58\00:10:56.75 plumbing, putting on some carpentry, 00:10:56.82\00:10:59.15 all kinds of stuff, you know, 00:10:59.19\00:11:01.59 these are just basic skills that God has even given me 00:11:01.62\00:11:05.26 as I've been faithful to Him in this ministry. 00:11:05.29\00:11:07.60 Amen, now, what about you? 00:11:07.66\00:11:09.76 You know the truth is, Jason, what I've seen in this ministry 00:11:09.80\00:11:14.27 is that... if we, as young people, don't go 00:11:14.30\00:11:16.77 if we don't respond to the call of God's ministry, 00:11:16.81\00:11:19.64 then there is someone who is going to miss out, 00:11:19.67\00:11:22.48 you know, just like he was talking about 00:11:22.54\00:11:24.25 the Wellness Center, 00:11:24.28\00:11:25.61 we've been in a place where we've seen people 00:11:25.65\00:11:28.42 who basically have died for lack of medical care 00:11:28.48\00:11:31.45 and so that inspired us to have the Wellness Center, 00:11:31.49\00:11:34.46 we've been able to work with people 00:11:34.49\00:11:36.19 and help them reverse their Diabetes 00:11:36.22\00:11:37.83 and High Blood Pressure through natural remedies, 00:11:37.86\00:11:40.86 through NEWSTART, but the thing is, 00:11:40.90\00:11:42.60 if we weren't willing to go out and learn those skills, 00:11:42.66\00:11:45.23 if we weren't willing to just have 00:11:45.27\00:11:47.47 more than just a normal Christian life, 00:11:47.50\00:11:50.07 then we would be missing out on those testimonies, 00:11:50.14\00:11:53.07 but because God... He's calling all young people 00:11:53.11\00:11:55.98 to step out of your comfort zone and do something for him, 00:11:56.01\00:11:59.05 and it will be beyond your wildest dreams 00:11:59.11\00:12:01.02 and that's the one thing that I've learned 00:12:01.05\00:12:02.88 in being a part of this ministry, 00:12:02.92\00:12:04.82 is, if you just do what God says, 00:12:04.85\00:12:06.55 just respond to that conviction in your heart, 00:12:06.59\00:12:08.92 to step out... I mean, He has so much in store for you 00:12:08.96\00:12:12.93 it could be someone's very life. 00:12:12.96\00:12:14.40 Absolutely, absolutely, 00:12:14.46\00:12:16.40 I'm so glad that you all answered that call, 00:12:16.43\00:12:19.27 now, what can you tell me about the work you're doing in the... 00:12:19.30\00:12:22.77 is it the Black Belt? Yes, it is. 00:12:22.80\00:12:24.87 Is it Alabama and Mississippi? 00:12:24.91\00:12:26.94 Yes, actually, we're in a place called Sawyerville, Alabama, 00:12:26.98\00:12:29.58 which is between Mississippi and Alabama 00:12:29.61\00:12:31.85 and when you go there, it's almost sometimes 00:12:31.88\00:12:34.08 like going back in time, 00:12:34.12\00:12:35.45 just the education there is very, very poor, 00:12:35.48\00:12:37.89 the literacy rate is very low, 00:12:37.92\00:12:39.92 I mean, in terms of people 00:12:39.95\00:12:41.89 not really being able to read, we found, 00:12:41.92\00:12:43.89 also Medical Care is lacking 00:12:43.93\00:12:47.66 for most of the population there 00:12:47.73\00:12:50.00 and so it has been a blessing for NAPS to actually 00:12:50.03\00:12:53.17 to build a Wellness Center there, 00:12:53.20\00:12:54.54 we are also about to have what we call NALA., 00:12:54.57\00:12:57.04 NAPS Abundant Life Academy for those children 00:12:57.07\00:12:59.57 who've been having to bus 00:12:59.61\00:13:01.31 from like 4 in the morning 00:13:01.34\00:13:02.94 just to try to get an education they miss breakfast, 00:13:02.98\00:13:05.38 now they have a school a little bit closer to them, 00:13:05.41\00:13:07.98 so that they can get the type of Christian Education 00:13:08.02\00:13:10.59 that we've had the privilege to have. 00:13:10.62\00:13:12.09 Yes, yes, and see that's what's so great about NAPS 00:13:12.12\00:13:16.06 this is what I really like about NAPS is that 00:13:16.09\00:13:19.33 you guys, it's almost like 00:13:19.36\00:13:21.33 when NAPS walks into a room, 00:13:21.36\00:13:23.93 you don't have to go and announce 00:13:23.97\00:13:26.43 that you are a Christian, they can tell by your lifestyle 00:13:26.47\00:13:31.11 by the things that you're doing, 00:13:31.14\00:13:33.34 the fact that you make the choice 00:13:33.38\00:13:36.08 to live how these people live, 00:13:36.11\00:13:38.75 see, you go to the mission field and these people have... 00:13:38.81\00:13:41.85 they don't have the choice on whether or not 00:13:41.88\00:13:44.69 they can move from this hut to a mansion 00:13:44.72\00:13:47.52 or if they can move from this hut to an apartment 00:13:47.56\00:13:50.79 they don't have that choice, so you sacrificed your luxury 00:13:50.83\00:13:55.20 and you go over there and you live like them 00:13:55.23\00:13:57.93 and I know I said this earlier, but you live like them, 00:13:57.97\00:14:00.67 and sacrifice that lifestyle, 00:14:00.74\00:14:05.44 I mean, that's a true testament to me 00:14:05.47\00:14:08.18 of Christianity. 00:14:08.21\00:14:09.54 And you know, this is how I feel 00:14:09.58\00:14:10.95 that we as young people know Christ is real, 00:14:10.98\00:14:13.42 you know, there are so many young people 00:14:13.45\00:14:15.08 that are leaving the church now because they feel like... 00:14:15.12\00:14:17.42 "Is God even real, can I really believe the Bible, 00:14:17.49\00:14:20.36 I know I've grown up in this church 00:14:20.39\00:14:22.72 or going to church because somebody made me" 00:14:22.76\00:14:25.29 but honestly for me, Christ became real 00:14:25.33\00:14:27.60 when I started to go into the mission field 00:14:27.66\00:14:29.90 you know, when I started to see the Bible come to life, 00:14:29.93\00:14:32.57 I see people who are possessed of demons 00:14:32.60\00:14:35.00 and you pray for them in Jesus' name 00:14:35.04\00:14:37.37 and those demons have to flee, 00:14:37.41\00:14:38.74 people who could not walk for months and months, 00:14:38.77\00:14:41.91 we go there, do a simple remedy for them 00:14:41.94\00:14:44.48 and now they're standing on their feet walking 00:14:44.51\00:14:46.55 even ministries like Dare to Dream 00:14:46.58\00:14:49.18 you know, we actually play it at our Wellness Center, 00:14:49.22\00:14:51.49 and the 3ABN ministry, 00:14:51.52\00:14:53.32 We love that, we love that... 00:14:53.36\00:14:54.82 yes, it's making an impact, you know what I mean, 00:14:54.86\00:14:57.76 so, I know that Christ is real because we step out 00:14:57.79\00:15:00.76 of our comfort zone 00:15:00.83\00:15:02.13 and honestly, we say the word "sacrifice" 00:15:02.16\00:15:04.17 but it's really not a sacrifice 00:15:04.20\00:15:05.60 because Jesus has done all of this for us, 00:15:05.63\00:15:08.64 you know, and it's really more of a privilege 00:15:08.67\00:15:11.37 I'm seeing it now, than anything, you know. 00:15:11.41\00:15:14.94 Speaking of "privilege," being a part of 3ABN 00:15:15.01\00:15:18.51 has been a privilege 00:15:18.55\00:15:19.88 being a part of the Camp Meetings, 00:15:19.91\00:15:21.52 the different Camp Meetings that 3ABN has had 00:15:21.55\00:15:24.35 even them inviting us to come, 00:15:24.39\00:15:26.15 has really been a blessing, 00:15:26.19\00:15:27.89 and as we go out to do God's work, 00:15:27.92\00:15:30.76 and follow the call, 00:15:30.83\00:15:32.56 He opens up so many blessings for us, 00:15:32.59\00:15:34.60 one of the privilege that we have now 00:15:34.66\00:15:36.63 is now we have four new vans, Really? 00:15:36.67\00:15:38.67 we have four new vans that help us 00:15:38.70\00:15:40.90 and I'm going out to spread the gospel 00:15:40.94\00:15:42.97 and we want to give a special "thank you" to 3ABN 00:15:43.00\00:15:47.58 and all the different Viewers 00:15:47.61\00:15:49.41 and the people who've supported us 00:15:49.44\00:15:50.81 in being able to get that, 00:15:50.85\00:15:52.25 and it's just that, man, all God wants us to do 00:15:52.28\00:15:55.22 is to go... if you go, He'll provide the food, 00:15:55.25\00:15:58.12 he'll provide the transportation, 00:15:58.15\00:15:59.65 he'll give you the words to say, 00:15:59.69\00:16:01.49 everything you need, it's a package deal 00:16:01.52\00:16:04.66 all you have to do is "Go" and once you go, 00:16:04.69\00:16:07.76 all the different things will be added unto you. 00:16:07.83\00:16:10.17 And I think about your testimony, Jason, 00:16:10.20\00:16:12.70 like I was getting to read it in the magazine that... 00:16:12.73\00:16:15.10 I mean, I'm just appreciative of you 00:16:15.14\00:16:17.64 living transparently, 00:16:17.67\00:16:19.51 because somebody can benefit from your testimony 00:16:19.54\00:16:22.04 I think that's another thing, some young people feel 00:16:22.08\00:16:24.15 maybe they've gone too far, you know, like, 00:16:24.18\00:16:26.61 maybe God can't use me because I've done this thing 00:16:26.65\00:16:29.05 or this thing wrong... but look at you, 00:16:29.08\00:16:30.69 God is putting you to high places 00:16:30.72\00:16:32.29 and He's using your testimony to other young men 00:16:32.32\00:16:35.02 so that they can know, like know... 00:16:35.06\00:16:37.03 you know, this may have been where you started off 00:16:37.06\00:16:39.16 but you don't have to stay here, 00:16:39.19\00:16:40.80 "Just follow me and you will do 00:16:40.83\00:16:42.36 things that you never imagined. " 00:16:42.40\00:16:44.13 Yes, God is good, I mean, 00:16:44.23\00:16:45.67 I'm just happy that's He's still able to use me 00:16:45.73\00:16:49.44 and use us, if you look at the disciples 00:16:49.47\00:16:53.44 they weren't perfect by any means 00:16:53.48\00:16:56.14 but He helped them, He developed them, 00:16:56.18\00:17:01.98 He taught them, That's right. 00:17:02.02\00:17:04.32 and God can use anybody, anywhere at any time. 00:17:04.35\00:17:08.79 What do you think made you decide 00:17:08.82\00:17:17.17 to go into ministry? 00:17:17.20\00:17:19.47 Hmmm... wow! 00:17:19.50\00:17:21.30 for me, it's because someone actually came to my door, 00:17:21.34\00:17:25.01 I actually was 19 years old and I was an Atheist, 00:17:25.04\00:17:29.21 I didn't believe in God because 00:17:29.24\00:17:30.75 I couldn't understand why He would allow 00:17:30.78\00:17:32.91 certain things to happen, 00:17:32.95\00:17:34.32 being a survivor of rape and molestation, 00:17:34.35\00:17:36.89 I was like, "If God is real, 00:17:36.92\00:17:38.45 where was He when I was going through these things?" 00:17:38.49\00:17:40.39 But God sent Bible Workers to my door 00:17:40.46\00:17:44.13 and they started taking me to a Revelation Seminar 00:17:44.16\00:17:46.70 and they went out of their way 00:17:46.73\00:17:48.60 to make sure that I knew that Jesus actually loved me 00:17:48.63\00:17:51.60 and that that was not his original plan for my life 00:17:51.63\00:17:54.54 that there was actually a devil that was out to destroy me 00:17:54.60\00:17:58.24 and, now being a missionary, I feel that it is a privilege 00:17:58.27\00:18:01.94 to follow in their footsteps 00:18:01.98\00:18:03.58 doing the same thing for someone else 00:18:03.61\00:18:05.51 so that's what makes me do what I'm doing. 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.78 As I was saying earlier, when I did come back to God 00:18:07.82\00:18:12.89 from running, you know, 00:18:12.95\00:18:15.42 I went and started to do the mission work 00:18:15.49\00:18:18.16 but as I think back, four years later 00:18:18.19\00:18:20.76 I realize that... the different things that I... 00:18:20.83\00:18:23.60 the reason why I was even open to doing ministry 00:18:23.67\00:18:26.40 was because of the principles that my parents instilled in me 00:18:26.43\00:18:29.24 and I didn't see it then 00:18:29.27\00:18:30.61 but I remember there were many times 00:18:30.64\00:18:32.64 when my mom will be praying so much, 00:18:32.67\00:18:34.44 I'm just like, "Mom, why are you always praying?" 00:18:34.48\00:18:37.05 like, "why do you need to pray so much" 00:18:37.08\00:18:38.55 or my dad would give his time and his resources 00:18:38.58\00:18:41.75 when he didn't need to and in my opinion, 00:18:41.78\00:18:44.22 it wasn't necessary, 00:18:44.29\00:18:45.95 or there were times when my mom would be going out of her way 00:18:45.99\00:18:49.12 to help a needy soul, 00:18:49.16\00:18:50.73 and those things were instilled into me, 00:18:50.76\00:18:53.09 and that's really an encouragement to even parents 00:18:53.13\00:18:55.10 that your kids are watching and 00:18:55.13\00:18:58.00 they are watching the example that you set 00:18:58.07\00:19:00.67 and so I really attribute a lot of the reason why I'm here 00:19:00.70\00:19:04.47 today in ministry, 00:19:04.54\00:19:05.97 to my parents' example of Christ. 00:19:06.01\00:19:07.88 And praise the Lord for that, 00:19:07.91\00:19:09.74 now what are some of your current needs as a ministry, 00:19:09.78\00:19:12.88 what things do you need to help you with your ministry? 00:19:12.91\00:19:15.52 Thank you for asking that question... 00:19:15.58\00:19:17.32 No problem, we want to know. 00:19:17.35\00:19:18.99 Well, please... we are building a school, 00:19:19.02\00:19:22.42 like we said, 00:19:22.46\00:19:23.86 it's going to be in the Black Belt, 00:19:23.89\00:19:25.23 it's going to be serving K through 5 to start off 00:19:25.26\00:19:28.40 and we're really praying that we will be able to... 00:19:28.43\00:19:31.57 we've already started on the building, 00:19:31.60\00:19:33.54 we know God's going to bless, 00:19:33.57\00:19:35.10 but we need materials like, 00:19:35.14\00:19:36.60 materials to continue with the building 00:19:36.64\00:19:38.97 we need books, more books for our library 00:19:39.01\00:19:42.41 that we're going to have for them, 00:19:42.44\00:19:43.78 that's one of the huge challenges that we have 00:19:43.85\00:19:46.35 we also have a Wellness Center and it's already built, 00:19:46.38\00:19:49.38 we have dorms but we're now needing to add on 00:19:49.42\00:19:51.99 because there are so many people in that area 00:19:52.02\00:19:54.49 that want the Evangelistic Training 00:19:54.52\00:19:56.42 they want hands-on skills of plumbing, of agriculture, 00:19:56.46\00:20:00.10 how to grow their own food, and so... 00:20:00.13\00:20:01.93 even though we thought we'd built a big enough building, 00:20:01.96\00:20:04.47 we are finding that space is running out 00:20:04.50\00:20:06.23 so those are two major things that we're just praying, 00:20:06.27\00:20:10.67 "Lord, send people, and laborers" 00:20:10.71\00:20:13.74 we need more people 00:20:13.78\00:20:15.38 that are willing to volunteer for God 00:20:15.41\00:20:17.75 that are willing to make a sacrifice but then also 00:20:17.78\00:20:20.68 to realize that sacrifice comes with blessings 00:20:20.72\00:20:23.49 to come and give their time maybe doctors or dentists or 00:20:23.55\00:20:27.52 teachers that maybe can come down 00:20:27.56\00:20:29.42 and volunteer their services, cooks, all of that. 00:20:29.46\00:20:32.23 What are some of the things that you can think of 00:20:32.26\00:20:35.06 that maybe Mia might have missed? 00:20:35.10\00:20:37.40 Another big need that we have is 00:20:37.43\00:20:39.60 next summer we are going to Haiti on a mission trip 00:20:39.63\00:20:42.70 whenever we go to a Country to do a mission, 00:20:42.77\00:20:45.81 it's not just about doing the mission and leaving, 00:20:45.84\00:20:48.84 but we have to think about 00:20:48.88\00:20:50.78 after we've planted these seeds, how are they going to grow 00:20:50.81\00:20:54.42 if they're not taken care of and watered? 00:20:54.45\00:20:56.35 And so, whenever we go, we set up a branch 00:20:56.38\00:20:58.69 and we train other young people to do the work 00:20:58.72\00:21:01.06 in their own Countries but after a while, 00:21:01.09\00:21:03.96 as different discouragements come, 00:21:04.03\00:21:07.10 we see that sometimes... 00:21:07.13\00:21:09.23 there are branches... that... you know 00:21:09.26\00:21:11.07 they just need a little boost 00:21:11.10\00:21:12.80 now to go back and be like, "God is still with you" 00:21:12.83\00:21:15.27 and so we just go do re-visitations, 00:21:15.30\00:21:18.14 we go back and we visit the branch, encourage them, 00:21:18.21\00:21:20.84 remind them of why God... 00:21:20.94\00:21:22.81 remind them of why they're doing the work that they're doing 00:21:22.84\00:21:25.41 reminding them of the call that God has given 00:21:25.45\00:21:27.68 and encouraging them to press forward 00:21:27.72\00:21:29.42 and so we're going to be returning to Haiti next summer 00:21:29.45\00:21:31.95 and as you know, to go overseas, 00:21:31.99\00:21:35.22 to do a mission is not free, unless somebody sponsors you 00:21:35.26\00:21:40.00 so we do need help in that regard 00:21:40.06\00:21:41.93 towards our foreign mission and also prayers, 00:21:41.96\00:21:44.90 I know people may not always have the funds 00:21:44.93\00:21:47.84 to be able to support, but even if... 00:21:47.87\00:21:49.87 whenever we come to mind, pray for the mission there 00:21:49.94\00:21:52.41 even if you don't remember NAPS, 00:21:52.47\00:21:53.81 just remember the missionaries in blue 00:21:53.84\00:21:56.21 whatever will help just remembering 00:21:56.24\00:21:58.61 to pray for us as we go out. 00:21:58.68\00:22:00.32 Jason, I wanted to say too, 00:22:00.35\00:22:01.98 you know we travel around to different churches 00:22:02.02\00:22:04.45 and schools, so if you see the blue shirt, 00:22:04.49\00:22:07.16 we'd love to be able to do a Program for the youth there, 00:22:07.26\00:22:10.36 share testimonies, maybe go out with them 00:22:10.43\00:22:13.26 doing door-to-door or be able to do special music 00:22:13.29\00:22:16.50 and so, just look out for us as well. 00:22:16.53\00:22:18.60 Mia, what you said earlier is, 00:22:18.63\00:22:20.60 we're talking about the $5, what do you call it? 00:22:20.64\00:22:22.47 The five dollars... 00:22:22.50\00:22:23.87 Yes, yes, we survive by a lot of five dollar bills, 00:22:23.91\00:22:26.44 20s, 100s, everything. Yes, even a dollar, 00:22:26.51\00:22:28.58 sometimes people think that you have to give a whole lot 00:22:28.61\00:22:33.15 in order to... a dollar helps, 00:22:33.21\00:22:36.75 five dollars help, two dollars help, so... 00:22:36.79\00:22:38.12 Yes, it really does, it really does 00:22:38.15\00:22:39.59 we have people that have been giving for years 00:22:39.65\00:22:41.62 and we just are so thankful to the 3ABN 00:22:41.66\00:22:44.39 and Dare to Dream ministries 00:22:44.43\00:22:45.89 because of people like you, 00:22:45.93\00:22:47.36 we're able to share our ministry 00:22:47.40\00:22:49.50 and also share our testimonies, 00:22:49.56\00:22:51.70 and people always look out for us... so please look out for 00:22:51.73\00:22:54.74 Dare to Dream as well and for 3ABN. 00:22:54.80\00:22:56.50 Well, we are grateful for what you all do, 00:22:56.54\00:22:59.17 with the few minutes that we have left 00:22:59.24\00:23:01.68 I want you to look into this camera over here 00:23:01.71\00:23:04.68 and I want you to tell that young person 00:23:04.71\00:23:08.18 that is thinking about getting involved in ministry 00:23:08.22\00:23:10.89 why they should do it and tell them 00:23:10.92\00:23:14.06 a couple of your thoughts. 00:23:14.09\00:23:15.42 Wow! I'm speaking to you, whoever you are, 00:23:15.46\00:23:23.47 as a young person, 00:23:23.53\00:23:24.87 and I know how it feels to be a young person 00:23:24.90\00:23:29.14 and you want to do the right thing, 00:23:29.20\00:23:32.47 you want to follow God but there are always these 00:23:32.51\00:23:34.44 distractions, there are different reasons 00:23:34.48\00:23:35.84 there are different things that may stop you 00:23:35.88\00:23:37.21 but I want to say that doing ministry is worth it, 00:23:37.25\00:23:41.32 every sacrifice was worth it, 00:23:41.35\00:23:44.15 every friend that I lost was worth it, 00:23:44.19\00:23:46.92 every floor that I had to sleep on 00:23:46.96\00:23:49.09 in a foreign country was worth it, 00:23:49.12\00:23:51.23 it was all worth it for the sake of one soul 00:23:51.26\00:23:53.96 that will be in heaven, and I want to say that 00:23:54.00\00:23:56.63 all that is on this earth will pass away 00:23:56.70\00:24:00.57 these shoes, the latest shoes, the latest fashion trend, 00:24:00.64\00:24:03.51 even our highest educational pursuits, 00:24:03.54\00:24:07.48 one day, will be forgotten 00:24:07.51\00:24:09.94 but what will last in the end 00:24:09.98\00:24:11.81 is our relationship with Jesus Christ 00:24:11.85\00:24:13.52 and so I encourage you, if you have not already, 00:24:13.62\00:24:16.38 to develop that relationship day by day 00:24:16.42\00:24:18.59 to pray, read the Bible, 00:24:18.62\00:24:20.96 it may start with five minutes devotions in the morning 00:24:20.99\00:24:24.06 or even a minute, 00:24:24.13\00:24:25.46 but starting somewhere and developing what really matters 00:24:25.49\00:24:29.46 because what will it mean 00:24:29.50\00:24:31.43 if you gain this whole world but you lose your soul 00:24:31.47\00:24:34.00 and there are souls that are perishing right now 00:24:34.04\00:24:36.50 and God wants to use you. 00:24:36.54\00:24:38.54 Why do we give God... 00:24:38.61\00:24:40.54 a pastor was saying yesterday "Why do people give God 00:24:40.58\00:24:42.98 their later areas of life when they're older 00:24:43.01\00:24:45.91 and they can't do as much but want to use their 00:24:45.95\00:24:48.82 younger years of life for the devil?" 00:24:48.85\00:24:51.49 but I say, "Switch that around 00:24:51.52\00:24:53.32 and not waiting until you're too old 00:24:53.36\00:24:56.69 or waiting until you're older to start worshipping God 00:24:56.73\00:25:01.66 to start living for God, but even starting now 00:25:01.70\00:25:04.07 starting now, using the moments that you have today 00:25:04.10\00:25:07.77 because God wants to use you now 00:25:07.80\00:25:09.64 He wants to use the old person, He wants to use the young person 00:25:09.67\00:25:12.11 He wants to use everybody to do His work, 00:25:12.14\00:25:14.38 the commission was given, so...
