Thank you, thank you. 00:01:14.37\00:01:16.20 Yes, yes, so everybody wants to know 00:01:16.24\00:01:19.54 what does NAPS stand for? 00:01:19.57\00:01:21.18 Well, NAPS stands for the 00:01:21.21\00:01:22.74 National Association for the Prevention of Starvation 00:01:22.78\00:01:25.68 and it basically just means it's an Organization 00:01:25.71\00:01:28.38 that's dedicated to meeting people's needs 00:01:28.42\00:01:30.65 not only their physical, but their spiritual as well. 00:01:30.69\00:01:33.15 Wow! that's deep. 00:01:33.19\00:01:34.52 Well, I've heard that you all have done 00:01:34.56\00:01:36.86 so many amazing things and we're going to get to that, 00:01:36.89\00:01:39.69 we're going to get to that in this Program 00:01:39.73\00:01:41.06 I want to hear the miracle stories, 00:01:41.10\00:01:42.53 I want to know, just everything that you guys 00:01:42.56\00:01:46.43 have witnessed as this Organization has progressed 00:01:46.47\00:01:49.07 but who is your ministry comprised of? 00:01:49.10\00:01:52.44 Well, our ministry is mostly comprised of 00:01:52.47\00:01:55.68 college students and graduates, 00:01:55.71\00:01:57.28 the Organization has been in existence since 1978 00:01:57.31\00:02:01.18 and honestly, whoever so willed, 00:02:01.22\00:02:04.55 we invite them to come out and serve. 00:02:04.59\00:02:06.42 Praise God, now, there's a common misconception 00:02:06.45\00:02:10.59 everybody... a lot of people... 00:02:10.63\00:02:12.99 I won't say "everybody" but a lot of people 00:02:13.03\00:02:14.80 think that NAPS is Oakwood and NAPS... 00:02:14.83\00:02:18.90 like what's the relationship there 00:02:18.93\00:02:20.80 because a lot of people think NAPS is a part of Oakwood. 00:02:20.84\00:02:23.81 Well, thank you so much, Jason, for asking that question, 00:02:23.84\00:02:26.78 actually NAPS was founded 00:02:26.81\00:02:29.14 at the wonderful campus of Oakwood University. 00:02:29.18\00:02:31.81 It was founded by the former 00:02:31.85\00:02:34.08 Dean of Biology there, Dr. Anthony Paul, 00:02:34.12\00:02:36.38 and it was there for about 35 years 00:02:36.42\00:02:39.15 but we've recently been able to have our own establishment 00:02:39.19\00:02:42.59 where we have a Wellness Center, we're about to have a school, 00:02:42.62\00:02:45.89 and so it was originally founded there, 00:02:45.93\00:02:48.13 however, we're now our own Institution, or Entity. 00:02:48.16\00:02:51.73 And so, how did NAPS start, 00:02:51.77\00:02:54.40 I want to direct this question to you Darnell, 00:02:54.44\00:02:56.91 how did NAPS start as far as, 00:02:56.97\00:02:59.41 what was the reasoning behind it, 00:02:59.47\00:03:01.88 who saw the need for it to come about 00:03:01.91\00:03:04.31 and how did it come into fruition? 00:03:04.35\00:03:06.72 That's a very good question, 00:03:06.75\00:03:08.38 so NAPS started off with college students 00:03:08.42\00:03:11.35 in 1978, they saw a need, they saw that there were people 00:03:11.39\00:03:18.69 who were under a bridge, who did not have any food, 00:03:18.73\00:03:21.80 who were in despair, 00:03:21.83\00:03:24.07 and they said, "You know what, we have so much" 00:03:24.10\00:03:26.43 I mean, it doesn't hurt us to go out 00:03:26.47\00:03:28.74 and give food to those who are hungry, 00:03:28.77\00:03:30.91 and so it started off small, you know, 00:03:30.94\00:03:33.01 they just started going out after church on Sabbath 00:03:33.04\00:03:35.68 and giving out food, and then they said, 00:03:35.71\00:03:37.98 "This is great, you know, we're making an impact, 00:03:38.01\00:03:40.15 but we want to do more," 00:03:40.18\00:03:41.55 and so they started saying, "You know what, 00:03:41.58\00:03:44.32 what if we went out into the Community 00:03:44.35\00:03:46.02 on Sabbaths and go out and... 00:03:46.05\00:03:48.02 go out and work with the children 00:03:48.06\00:03:50.09 teaching them more about the love of God, 00:03:50.13\00:03:52.79 working with them and telling them that 00:03:52.83\00:03:55.40 even though they may have been born in certain situations 00:03:55.43\00:03:57.80 or go through certain things that they still have hope, 00:03:57.83\00:04:00.47 they still can be successful" and that would give... 00:04:00.50\00:04:02.97 but then there was like... "You know, 00:04:03.00\00:04:04.94 this is great but we want to do more" 00:04:04.97\00:04:06.88 and so NAPS started going overseas to different countries, 00:04:06.91\00:04:09.98 our first mission trip was to Haiti 00:04:10.01\00:04:12.15 and now, we've been to over 23 different countries 00:04:12.21\00:04:15.55 across the globe, in Asia, South America, 00:04:15.58\00:04:18.92 in Africa, going around as missionaries for Christ. 00:04:18.95\00:04:22.32 Wow! that's huge, I love the fact that you guys 00:04:22.39\00:04:25.73 saw the need and by God's grace 00:04:25.76\00:04:30.13 you filled that need because, helping to develop the youth, 00:04:30.17\00:04:33.70 you know... it says... the Bible says, 00:04:33.74\00:04:35.67 "Train up a child in the way he should go... 00:04:35.70\00:04:37.41 or the way that they should go... " 00:04:37.44\00:04:39.61 and I think that that's so important 00:04:39.64\00:04:42.31 because you establish that foundation 00:04:42.34\00:04:44.95 which is very important 00:04:45.01\00:04:47.45 now, going through all these trips, 00:04:47.52\00:04:50.52 I know that it gets expensive, okay, 00:04:50.55\00:04:53.66 so, where is the financial support? 00:04:53.69\00:04:56.73 Well, one of the things that really helps our ministry, 00:04:56.76\00:05:02.40 we like to say, "It's a bunch of $5 bills," 00:05:02.43\00:05:05.03 Okay. but, it's different donors 00:05:05.07\00:05:07.87 from all over, different churches support us, 00:05:07.90\00:05:10.61 different schools, our parents, they support us, 00:05:10.64\00:05:13.27 we do a lot of canvassing, 00:05:13.34\00:05:15.08 we actually have a Pathfinder Band 00:05:15.11\00:05:16.78 that we'll use, and we'll march down the street 00:05:16.81\00:05:19.11 playing music, and people give... that way... 00:05:19.15\00:05:21.42 Well, that's a wonderful... 00:05:21.45\00:05:24.02 it's a blessing to support ministries 00:05:24.05\00:05:26.55 that are helping to further the gospel of Jesus Christ, 00:05:26.59\00:05:29.59 what disasters have you all helped people in? 00:05:29.62\00:05:34.86 So we've... we've been able to help with a lot of disasters 00:05:34.90\00:05:40.14 God has just really been good 00:05:40.17\00:05:41.50 and He just sets us up to be able to help 00:05:41.54\00:05:45.01 at the right time and so, we were able to go out 00:05:45.04\00:05:48.54 after 9/11, our team went... 00:05:48.58\00:05:50.85 all the way back in 2001 and our team went 00:05:50.88\00:05:54.38 and they hugged the families, we brought a Marching Band, 00:05:54.42\00:05:59.72 we were playing our Band, just encouraging families, 00:05:59.75\00:06:02.36 after Hurricane Katrina our team was there, 00:06:02.39\00:06:05.36 after the Haiti earthquake, our team was there, 00:06:05.39\00:06:08.20 and even after the Moore Oklahoma Tornadoes, 00:06:08.23\00:06:10.67 I was privileged to be a part of the mission 00:06:10.70\00:06:13.03 where we were able to go and help them with the rebuild 00:06:13.07\00:06:17.84 after their homes were destroyed, 00:06:17.87\00:06:19.41 I've never seen such destruction where I would look and see 00:06:19.47\00:06:22.94 miles and miles of houses destroyed 00:06:23.01\00:06:26.15 and places just really devastated, 00:06:26.18\00:06:29.25 and I'd see cars flipped over, everything... 00:06:29.28\00:06:33.02 and it was just a blessing to be able to go and be there 00:06:33.05\00:06:37.13 that time of hurting for those people 00:06:37.16\00:06:39.03 and we even sang at some of the funerals 00:06:39.06\00:06:40.86 of the children who died as well as the school there 00:06:40.90\00:06:43.63 so it was just a blessing. 00:06:43.67\00:06:45.13 One significant tragedy 00:06:45.17\00:06:47.24 that we were able to be a part of as well 00:06:47.30\00:06:49.00 was the Sandy Hook tragedy, 00:06:49.04\00:06:50.41 and we all know that many of those precious children 00:06:50.44\00:06:53.17 were killed but NAPS was actually privileged 00:06:53.21\00:06:56.14 not only to go and be among those who were mourning 00:06:56.18\00:06:59.11 but several of the families actually invited us 00:06:59.15\00:07:02.05 into their private moment, where at the funeral services 00:07:02.08\00:07:05.25 we were able to sing for those families 00:07:05.29\00:07:07.19 and not only that, but I'll never forget, 00:07:07.22\00:07:09.09 one of the families was actually an Atheist family, 00:07:09.12\00:07:11.59 and they were kind of saying, 00:07:11.63\00:07:13.03 "We don't why we've allowed you guys to come 00:07:13.06\00:07:15.20 but we just feel like this is the right thing to do" 00:07:15.23\00:07:17.17 and even at that Service, 00:07:17.20\00:07:18.80 we were able to give out some literature 00:07:18.83\00:07:21.37 and just to pray with the families and encourage them 00:07:21.40\00:07:24.04 so, it's just amazing how God will put His people 00:07:24.07\00:07:26.61 in the right places 00:07:26.64\00:07:28.04 when you step out for someone else. 00:07:28.08\00:07:31.01 Absolutely, now, with these disasters, 00:07:31.05\00:07:33.88 how do you guys come together as an Organization, 00:07:33.92\00:07:37.15 how do you strategize, how do you plan 00:07:37.19\00:07:39.32 how you're going to handle these situations? 00:07:39.35\00:07:43.43 Well, basically, 00:07:43.46\00:07:46.80 we've been training every Tuesday and Thursday morning, 00:07:46.86\00:07:50.30 and our training not only consists of Bible Study but also 00:07:50.33\00:07:54.20 in the event of a disaster what are we going to do, 00:07:54.24\00:07:57.04 even when we travel from different cities, 00:07:57.07\00:07:59.61 we may stay at churches or homes 00:07:59.67\00:08:02.31 where you basically have to be ready to rough it 00:08:02.34\00:08:05.08 because you don't know what kind of disaster situation 00:08:05.11\00:08:07.82 you're going to be in or when we go overseas on our trips, 00:08:07.85\00:08:10.49 we don't necessarily stay in a hotel, 00:08:10.52\00:08:12.35 we'll live with the people in huts where they live 00:08:12.39\00:08:16.59 is kind of where we're going to live 00:08:16.62\00:08:17.96 for six weeks, two months, 00:08:17.99\00:08:19.33 whatever the timeframe may be so a lot of times 00:08:19.36\00:08:22.36 going to those different churches 00:08:22.40\00:08:23.73 and cities, and, maybe sleeping on a church floor, 00:08:23.77\00:08:26.20 that is our best training for these types of scenarios. 00:08:26.23\00:08:29.70 Wow! wow, wow, 00:08:29.74\00:08:32.11 so it encompasses that self-sacrifice 00:08:32.14\00:08:36.75 you want to go, you want to live with the people 00:08:36.78\00:08:38.95 how they're living and you want to help bring them up 00:08:38.98\00:08:41.75 that is amazing, how does this... 00:08:41.78\00:08:45.42 how is this line of ministry... 00:08:45.45\00:08:47.92 how has this impacted your life, 00:08:47.96\00:08:49.79 let's start with you Darnell. 00:08:49.82\00:08:51.59 Yeah, well, this ministry has impacted my life 00:08:51.63\00:08:56.50 in ways that I cannot even put to words, 00:08:56.53\00:08:58.90 when I made the decision 00:08:58.93\00:09:01.84 after running for a while to come back to God, 00:09:01.87\00:09:05.01 to develop my relationship with Him, 00:09:05.04\00:09:08.54 I was in class 00:09:08.61\00:09:10.88 and my college professor, he was saying that 00:09:10.91\00:09:13.42 there was going to be food at his house, 00:09:13.45\00:09:15.88 and you can come, it was free dinner, free food, 00:09:15.92\00:09:19.15 and as a college student, I was like, 00:09:19.19\00:09:20.96 "This sounds like... something that 00:09:20.99\00:09:22.76 maybe in my best interest to go" 00:09:22.79\00:09:24.63 and so I went 00:09:24.66\00:09:28.73 and it was actually a NAPS meeting, okay, 00:09:28.76\00:09:31.30 but they did have food, but it was a NAPS Meeting 00:09:31.33\00:09:35.10 and Worship and while I was there 00:09:35.17\00:09:38.01 the Lord just kept impressing it upon my heart 00:09:38.04\00:09:40.64 to go... to go... and I'm just like, 00:09:40.68\00:09:42.64 "Lord... " I had so many excuses, 00:09:42.68\00:09:44.58 I felt like Moses when God was telling him to go and speak 00:09:44.61\00:09:48.38 and he was like, "But Lord... " that's how I felt 00:09:48.42\00:09:51.42 I'm like, "Lord, I'm inadequate, 00:09:51.45\00:09:53.29 I just came back to serving you again, 00:09:53.32\00:09:57.09 I need more time to develop my relationship, 00:09:57.13\00:09:59.53 I'm not holy enough, I'm not good enough, 00:09:59.56\00:10:01.90 I'm not trained enough," and God was just like, 00:10:01.93\00:10:04.23 "My grace is sufficient for you, just go... " 00:10:04.27\00:10:06.50 and I said, "Okay, I'm going to go on this mission," 00:10:06.53\00:10:09.40 and I went on that mission 00:10:09.44\00:10:10.94 and it was just a blessing to be on the mission field, 00:10:10.97\00:10:14.38 and to be able to minister to people 00:10:14.44\00:10:16.64 and it's just time and time again 00:10:16.68\00:10:18.81 their expression of joy 00:10:18.85\00:10:20.72 and really they just don't understand 00:10:20.75\00:10:23.75 a lot of times how we will go and give up 00:10:23.79\00:10:26.55 the comforts of our own homes and go and minister to them 00:10:26.59\00:10:29.79 to meet their needs and just seeing that 00:10:29.82\00:10:32.73 and experiencing that... 00:10:32.79\00:10:34.13 for me has really changed my life, 00:10:34.16\00:10:35.53 it really has deepened 00:10:35.56\00:10:37.63 my relationship with God 00:10:37.67\00:10:39.70 and really encouraged me to keep doing service 00:10:39.73\00:10:41.60 and even to add on to that, 00:10:41.64\00:10:43.44 I really believe that God had given me practical skills 00:10:43.47\00:10:47.04 even in being in this ministry to like... 00:10:47.08\00:10:49.64 we were able to build a Wellness Center 00:10:49.71\00:10:52.25 in Southern Alabama 00:10:52.28\00:10:53.62 and I was able to do some electrical work, 00:10:53.65\00:10:56.85 plumbing, putting on some carpentry, 00:10:56.89\00:10:59.25 all kinds of stuff, you know, 00:10:59.29\00:11:01.62 these are just basic skills that God has even given me 00:11:01.66\00:11:05.29 as I've been faithful to Him in this ministry. 00:11:05.33\00:11:07.66 Amen, now, what about you? 00:11:07.70\00:11:09.83 You know the truth is, Jason, what I've seen in this ministry 00:11:09.86\00:11:14.34 is that... if we, as young people, don't go 00:11:14.37\00:11:16.84 if we don't respond to the call of God's ministry, 00:11:16.87\00:11:19.71 then there is someone who is going to miss out, 00:11:19.74\00:11:22.54 you know, just like he was talking about 00:11:22.61\00:11:24.31 the Wellness Center, 00:11:24.35\00:11:25.68 we've been in a place where we've seen people 00:11:25.71\00:11:28.48 who basically have died for lack of medical care 00:11:28.55\00:11:31.52 and so that inspired us to have the Wellness Center, 00:11:31.55\00:11:34.52 we've been able to work with people 00:11:34.56\00:11:36.26 and help them reverse their Diabetes 00:11:36.29\00:11:37.89 and High Blood Pressure through natural remedies, 00:11:37.93\00:11:40.90 through NEWSTART, but the thing is, 00:11:40.93\00:11:42.70 if we weren't willing to go out and learn those skills, 00:11:42.76\00:11:45.33 if we weren't willing to just have 00:11:45.37\00:11:47.54 more than just a normal Christian life, 00:11:47.57\00:11:50.17 then we would be missing out on those testimonies, 00:11:50.21\00:11:53.17 but because God... He's calling all young people 00:11:53.21\00:11:56.08 to step out of your comfort zone and do something for him, 00:11:56.11\00:11:59.15 and it will be beyond your wildest dreams 00:11:59.21\00:12:01.05 and that's the one thing that I've learned 00:12:01.08\00:12:02.92 in being a part of this ministry, 00:12:02.95\00:12:04.85 is, if you just do what God says, 00:12:04.89\00:12:06.59 just respond to that conviction in your heart, 00:12:06.62\00:12:08.96 to step out... I mean, He has so much in store for you 00:12:08.99\00:12:12.96 it could be someone's very life. 00:12:12.99\00:12:14.46 Absolutely, absolutely, 00:12:14.50\00:12:16.46 I'm so glad that you all answered that call, 00:12:16.50\00:12:19.33 now, what can you tell me about the work you're doing in the... 00:12:19.37\00:12:22.84 is it the Black Belt? Yes, it is. 00:12:22.87\00:12:24.94 Is it Alabama and Mississippi? 00:12:24.97\00:12:26.98 Yes, actually, we're in a place called Sawyerville, Alabama, 00:12:27.01\00:12:29.64 which is between Mississippi and Alabama 00:12:29.68\00:12:31.91 and when you go there, it's almost sometimes 00:12:31.95\00:12:34.12 like going back in time, 00:12:34.15\00:12:35.48 just the education there is very, very poor, 00:12:35.52\00:12:37.95 the literacy rate is very low, 00:12:37.99\00:12:39.99 I mean, in terms of people 00:12:40.02\00:12:41.96 not really being able to read, we found, 00:12:41.99\00:12:43.93 also Medical Care is lacking 00:12:43.96\00:12:47.76 for most of the population there 00:12:47.80\00:12:50.07 and so it has been a blessing for NAPS to actually 00:12:50.10\00:12:53.27 to build a Wellness Center there, 00:12:53.30\00:12:54.64 we are also about to have what we call NALA., 00:12:54.67\00:12:57.11 NAPS Abundant Life Academy for those children 00:12:57.14\00:12:59.67 who've been having to bus 00:12:59.71\00:13:01.34 from like 4 in the morning 00:13:01.38\00:13:02.98 just to try to get an education they miss breakfast, 00:13:03.01\00:13:05.41 now they have a school a little bit closer to them, 00:13:05.45\00:13:08.02 so that they can get the type of Christian Education 00:13:08.05\00:13:10.59 that we've had the privilege to have. 00:13:10.62\00:13:12.12 Yes, yes, and see that's what's so great about NAPS 00:13:12.15\00:13:16.09 this is what I really like about NAPS is that 00:13:16.12\00:13:19.36 you guys, it's almost like 00:13:19.39\00:13:21.40 when NAPS walks into a room, 00:13:21.43\00:13:23.97 you don't have to go and announce 00:13:24.00\00:13:26.50 that you are a Christian, they can tell by your lifestyle 00:13:26.53\00:13:31.17 by the things that you're doing, 00:13:31.21\00:13:33.41 the fact that you make the choice 00:13:33.44\00:13:36.14 to live how these people live, 00:13:36.18\00:13:38.81 see, you go to the mission field and these people have... 00:13:38.88\00:13:41.92 they don't have the choice on whether or not 00:13:41.95\00:13:44.75 they can move from this hut to a mansion 00:13:44.79\00:13:47.56 or if they can move from this hut to an apartment 00:13:47.59\00:13:50.83 they don't have that choice, so you sacrificed your luxury 00:13:50.89\00:13:55.30 and you go over there and you live like them 00:13:55.33\00:13:58.03 and I know I said this earlier, but you live like them, 00:13:58.07\00:14:00.70 and sacrifice that lifestyle, 00:14:00.74\00:14:05.47 I mean, that's a true testament to me 00:14:05.51\00:14:08.21 of Christianity. 00:14:08.24\00:14:09.58 And you know, this is how I feel 00:14:09.61\00:14:10.95 that we as young people know Christ is real, 00:14:10.98\00:14:13.42 you know, there are so many young people 00:14:13.48\00:14:15.12 that are leaving the church now because they feel like... 00:14:15.15\00:14:17.45 "Is God even real, can I really believe the Bible, 00:14:17.49\00:14:20.39 I know I've grown up in this church 00:14:20.42\00:14:22.76 or going to church because somebody made me" 00:14:22.79\00:14:25.33 but honestly for me, Christ became real 00:14:25.36\00:14:27.66 when I started to go into the mission field 00:14:27.70\00:14:29.96 you know, when I started to see the Bible come to life, 00:14:30.00\00:14:32.63 I see people who are possessed of demons 00:14:32.67\00:14:35.07 and you pray for them in Jesus' name 00:14:35.10\00:14:37.44 and those demons have to flee, 00:14:37.47\00:14:38.81 people who could not walk for months and months, 00:14:38.84\00:14:41.98 we go there, do a simple remedy for them 00:14:42.01\00:14:44.55 and now they're standing on their feet walking 00:14:44.58\00:14:46.61 even ministries like Dare to Dream 00:14:46.65\00:14:49.25 you know, we actually play it at our Wellness Center, 00:14:49.28\00:14:51.55 and the 3ABN ministry, 00:14:51.59\00:14:53.36 We love that, we love that... 00:14:53.39\00:14:54.89 yes, it's making an impact, you know what I mean, 00:14:54.92\00:14:57.83 so, I know that Christ is real because we step out 00:14:57.86\00:15:00.76 of our comfort zone 00:15:00.80\00:15:02.13 and honestly, we say the word "sacrifice" 00:15:02.16\00:15:04.17 but it's really not a sacrifice 00:15:04.20\00:15:05.63 because Jesus has done all of this for us, 00:15:05.67\00:15:08.67 you know, and it's really more of a privilege 00:15:08.70\00:15:11.41 I'm seeing it now, than anything, you know. 00:15:11.44\00:15:14.98 Speaking of "privilege," being a part of 3ABN 00:15:15.04\00:15:18.55 has been a privilege 00:15:18.58\00:15:19.91 being a part of the Camp Meetings, 00:15:19.95\00:15:21.55 the different Camp Meetings that 3ABN has had 00:15:21.58\00:15:24.39 even them inviting us to come, 00:15:24.42\00:15:26.19 has really been a blessing, 00:15:26.22\00:15:27.92 and as we go out to do God's work, 00:15:27.96\00:15:30.79 and follow the call, 00:15:30.83\00:15:32.59 He opens up so many blessings for us, 00:15:32.63\00:15:34.66 one of the privilege that we have now 00:15:34.73\00:15:36.67 is now we have four new vans, Really? 00:15:36.70\00:15:38.73 we have four new vans that help us 00:15:38.77\00:15:40.94 and I'm going out to spread the gospel 00:15:40.97\00:15:43.04 and we want to give a special "thank you" to 3ABN 00:15:43.07\00:15:47.64 and all the different Viewers 00:15:47.68\00:15:49.48 and the people who've supported us 00:15:49.51\00:15:50.85 in being able to get that, 00:15:50.88\00:15:52.31 and it's just that, man, all God wants us to do 00:15:52.35\00:15:55.28 is to go... if you go, He'll provide the food, 00:15:55.32\00:15:58.19 he'll provide the transportation, 00:15:58.22\00:15:59.72 he'll give you the words to say, 00:15:59.75\00:16:01.49 everything you need, it's a package deal 00:16:01.52\00:16:04.66 all you have to do is "Go" and once you go, 00:16:04.69\00:16:07.80 all the different things will be added unto you. 00:16:07.83\00:16:10.17 And I think about your testimony, Jason, 00:16:10.20\00:16:12.73 like I was getting to read it in the magazine that... 00:16:12.77\00:16:15.14 I mean, I'm just appreciative of you 00:16:15.17\00:16:17.67 living transparently, 00:16:17.71\00:16:19.54 because somebody can benefit from your testimony 00:16:19.57\00:16:22.08 I think that's another thing, some young people feel 00:16:22.11\00:16:24.18 maybe they've gone too far, you know, like, 00:16:24.21\00:16:26.65 maybe God can't use me because I've done this thing 00:16:26.68\00:16:29.08 or this thing wrong... but look at you, 00:16:29.12\00:16:30.69 God is putting you to high places 00:16:30.72\00:16:32.32 and He's using your testimony to other young men 00:16:32.35\00:16:35.06 so that they can know, like know... 00:16:35.09\00:16:37.03 you know, this may have been where you started off 00:16:37.06\00:16:39.19 but you don't have to stay here, 00:16:39.23\00:16:40.83 "Just follow me and you will do 00:16:40.86\00:16:42.43 things that you never imagined. " 00:16:42.46\00:16:44.20 Yes, God is good, I mean, 00:16:44.27\00:16:45.73 I'm just happy that's He's still able to use me 00:16:45.80\00:16:49.50 and use us, if you look at the disciples 00:16:49.54\00:16:53.48 they weren't perfect by any means 00:16:53.51\00:16:56.21 but He helped them, He developed them, 00:16:56.24\00:17:01.98 He taught them, That's right. 00:17:02.02\00:17:04.32 and God can use anybody, anywhere at any time. 00:17:04.35\00:17:08.79 What do you think made you decide 00:17:08.82\00:17:17.20 to go into ministry? 00:17:17.23\00:17:19.50 Hmmm... wow! 00:17:19.53\00:17:21.34 for me, it's because someone actually came to my door, 00:17:21.37\00:17:25.04 I actually was 19 years old and I was an Atheist, 00:17:25.07\00:17:29.24 I didn't believe in God because 00:17:29.28\00:17:30.75 I couldn't understand why He would allow 00:17:30.78\00:17:32.95 certain things to happen, 00:17:32.98\00:17:34.32 being a survivor of rape and molestation, 00:17:34.35\00:17:36.89 I was like, "If God is real, 00:17:36.92\00:17:38.49 where was He when I was going through these things?" 00:17:38.52\00:17:40.42 But God sent Bible Workers to my door 00:17:40.46\00:17:44.16 and they started taking me to a Revelation Seminar 00:17:44.19\00:17:46.70 and they went out of their way 00:17:46.73\00:17:48.66 to make sure that I knew that Jesus actually loved me 00:17:48.70\00:17:51.67 and that that was not his original plan for my life 00:17:51.70\00:17:54.60 that there was actually a devil that was out to destroy me 00:17:54.67\00:17:58.31 and, now being a missionary, I feel that it is a privilege 00:17:58.34\00:18:01.94 to follow in their footsteps 00:18:01.98\00:18:03.55 doing the same thing for someone else 00:18:03.58\00:18:05.51 so that's what makes me do what I'm doing. 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.78 As I was saying earlier, when I did come back to God 00:18:07.82\00:18:12.89 from running, you know, 00:18:12.95\00:18:15.42 I went and started to do the mission work 00:18:15.49\00:18:18.16 but as I think back, four years later 00:18:18.19\00:18:20.76 I realize that... the different things that I... 00:18:20.80\00:18:23.63 the reason why I was even open to doing ministry 00:18:23.67\00:18:26.43 was because of the principles that my parents instilled in me 00:18:26.47\00:18:29.27 and I didn't see it then 00:18:29.30\00:18:30.64 but I remember there were many times 00:18:30.67\00:18:32.67 when my mom will be praying so much, 00:18:32.71\00:18:34.48 I'm just like, "Mom, why are you always praying?" 00:18:34.51\00:18:37.05 like, "why do you need to pray so much" 00:18:37.11\00:18:38.58 or my dad would give his time and his resources 00:18:38.61\00:18:41.78 when he didn't need to and in my opinion, 00:18:41.82\00:18:44.25 it wasn't necessary, 00:18:44.29\00:18:45.99 or there were times when my mom would be going out of her way 00:18:46.02\00:18:49.16 to help a needy soul, 00:18:49.19\00:18:50.73 and those things were instilled into me, 00:18:50.76\00:18:53.13 and that's really an encouragement to even parents 00:18:53.16\00:18:55.16 that your kids are watching and 00:18:55.20\00:18:58.07 they are watching the example that you set 00:18:58.13\00:19:00.67 and so I really attribute a lot of the reason why I'm here 00:19:00.70\00:19:04.47 today in ministry, 00:19:04.54\00:19:05.97 to my parents' example of Christ. 00:19:06.01\00:19:07.88 And praise the Lord for that, 00:19:07.91\00:19:09.74 now what are some of your current needs as a ministry, 00:19:09.78\00:19:12.88 what things do you need to help you with your ministry? 00:19:12.91\00:19:15.52 Thank you for asking that question... 00:19:15.58\00:19:17.32 No problem, we want to know. 00:19:17.35\00:19:18.99 Well, please... we are building a school, 00:19:19.02\00:19:22.42 like we said, 00:19:22.46\00:19:23.83 it's going to be in the Black Belt, 00:19:23.89\00:19:25.23 it's going to be serving K through 5 to start off 00:19:25.26\00:19:28.43 and we're really praying that we will be able to... 00:19:28.46\00:19:31.60 we've already started on the building, 00:19:31.63\00:19:33.57 we know God's going to bless, 00:19:33.60\00:19:35.14 but we need materials like, 00:19:35.17\00:19:36.64 materials to continue with the building 00:19:36.67\00:19:39.01 we need books, more books for our library 00:19:39.04\00:19:42.44 that we're going to have for them, 00:19:42.48\00:19:43.81 that's one of the huge challenges that we have 00:19:43.85\00:19:46.38 we also have a Wellness Center and it's already built, 00:19:46.41\00:19:49.42 we have dorms but we're now needing to add on 00:19:49.45\00:19:52.02 because there are so many people in that area 00:19:52.05\00:19:54.52 that want the Evangelistic Training 00:19:54.56\00:19:56.46 they want hands-on skills of plumbing, of agriculture, 00:19:56.49\00:20:00.10 how to grow their own food, and so... 00:20:00.13\00:20:02.00 even though we thought we'd built a big enough building, 00:20:02.03\00:20:04.53 we are finding that space is running out 00:20:04.57\00:20:06.30 so those are two major things that we're just praying, 00:20:06.33\00:20:10.71 "Lord, send people, and laborers" 00:20:10.74\00:20:13.81 we need more people 00:20:13.84\00:20:15.44 that are willing to volunteer for God 00:20:15.48\00:20:17.81 that are willing to make a sacrifice but then also 00:20:17.85\00:20:20.72 to realize that sacrifice comes with blessings 00:20:20.75\00:20:23.55 to come and give their time maybe doctors or dentists or 00:20:23.59\00:20:27.56 teachers that maybe can come down 00:20:27.59\00:20:29.49 and volunteer their services, cooks, all of that. 00:20:29.52\00:20:32.29 What are some of the things that you can think of 00:20:32.33\00:20:35.16 that maybe Mia might have missed? 00:20:35.20\00:20:37.47 Another big need that we have is 00:20:37.50\00:20:39.70 next summer we are going to Haiti on a mission trip 00:20:39.73\00:20:42.80 whenever we go to a Country to do a mission, 00:20:42.87\00:20:45.91 it's not just about doing the mission and leaving, 00:20:45.94\00:20:48.94 but we have to think about 00:20:48.98\00:20:50.85 after we've planted these seeds, how are they going to grow 00:20:50.88\00:20:54.52 if they're not taken care of and watered? 00:20:54.55\00:20:56.45 And so, whenever we go, we set up a branch 00:20:56.48\00:20:58.79 and we train other young people to do the work 00:20:58.82\00:21:01.09 in their own Countries but after a while, 00:21:01.12\00:21:03.99 as different discouragements come, 00:21:04.03\00:21:07.10 we see that sometimes... 00:21:07.13\00:21:09.30 there are branches... that... you know 00:21:09.33\00:21:11.13 they just need a little boost 00:21:11.17\00:21:12.87 now to go back and be like, "God is still with you" 00:21:12.90\00:21:15.34 and so we just go do re-visitations, 00:21:15.37\00:21:18.21 we go back and we visit the branch, encourage them, 00:21:18.27\00:21:20.91 remind them of why God... 00:21:20.98\00:21:22.88 remind them of why they're doing the work that they're doing 00:21:22.91\00:21:25.48 reminding them of the call that God has given 00:21:25.51\00:21:27.75 and encouraging them to press forward 00:21:27.78\00:21:29.48 and so we're going to be returning to Haiti next summer 00:21:29.52\00:21:32.02 and as you know, to go overseas, 00:21:32.05\00:21:35.29 to do a mission is not free, unless somebody sponsors you 00:21:35.32\00:21:40.06 so we do need help in that regard 00:21:40.10\00:21:42.03 towards our foreign mission and also prayers, 00:21:42.06\00:21:45.00 I know people may not always have the funds 00:21:45.03\00:21:47.94 to be able to support, but even if... 00:21:47.97\00:21:49.97 whenever we come to mind, pray for the mission there 00:21:50.01\00:21:52.51 even if you don't remember NAPS, 00:21:52.57\00:21:53.91 just remember the missionaries in blue 00:21:53.94\00:21:56.31 whatever will help just remembering 00:21:56.34\00:21:58.71 to pray for us as we go out. 00:21:58.78\00:22:00.35 Jason, I wanted to say too, 00:22:00.38\00:22:02.02 you know we travel around to different churches 00:22:02.05\00:22:04.49 and schools, so if you see the blue shirt, 00:22:04.52\00:22:07.19 we'd love to be able to do a Program for the youth there, 00:22:07.26\00:22:10.39 share testimonies, maybe go out with them 00:22:10.43\00:22:13.29 doing door-to-door or be able to do special music 00:22:13.33\00:22:16.56 and so, just look out for us as well. 00:22:16.60\00:22:18.67 Mia, what you said earlier is, 00:22:18.70\00:22:20.67 we're talking about the $5, what do you call it? 00:22:20.70\00:22:22.54 The five dollars... 00:22:22.57\00:22:23.91 Yes, yes, we survive by a lot of five dollar bills, 00:22:23.94\00:22:26.51 20s, 100s, everything. Yes, even a dollar, 00:22:26.57\00:22:28.64 sometimes people think that you have to give a whole lot 00:22:28.68\00:22:33.21 in order to... a dollar helps, 00:22:33.28\00:22:36.79 five dollars help, two dollars help, so... 00:22:36.82\00:22:38.15 Yes, it really does, it really does 00:22:38.19\00:22:39.65 we have people that have been giving for years 00:22:39.72\00:22:41.69 and we just are so thankful to the 3ABN 00:22:41.72\00:22:44.46 and Dare to Dream ministries 00:22:44.49\00:22:45.96 because of people like you, 00:22:45.99\00:22:47.40 we're able to share our ministry 00:22:47.43\00:22:49.60 and also share our testimonies, 00:22:49.66\00:22:51.80 and people always look out for us... so please look out for 00:22:51.83\00:22:54.84 Dare to Dream as well and for 3ABN. 00:22:54.90\00:22:56.60 Well, we are grateful for what you all do, 00:22:56.64\00:22:59.27 with the few minutes that we have left 00:22:59.34\00:23:01.71 I want you to look into this camera over here 00:23:01.74\00:23:04.71 and I want you to tell that young person 00:23:04.75\00:23:08.22 that is thinking about getting involved in ministry 00:23:08.25\00:23:10.92 why they should do it and tell them 00:23:10.95\00:23:14.06 a couple of your thoughts. 00:23:14.12\00:23:15.46 Wow! I'm speaking to you, whoever you are, 00:23:15.49\00:23:23.53 as a young person, 00:23:23.57\00:23:24.90 and I know how it feels to be a young person 00:23:24.93\00:23:29.20 and you want to do the right thing, 00:23:29.27\00:23:32.54 you want to follow God but there are always these 00:23:32.57\00:23:34.51 distractions, there are different reasons 00:23:34.54\00:23:35.91 there are different things that may stop you 00:23:35.94\00:23:37.28 but I want to say that doing ministry is worth it, 00:23:37.31\00:23:41.38 every sacrifice was worth it, 00:23:41.42\00:23:44.19 every friend that I lost was worth it, 00:23:44.25\00:23:46.96 every floor that I had to sleep on 00:23:46.99\00:23:49.16 in a foreign country was worth it, 00:23:49.19\00:23:51.29 it was all worth it for the sake of one soul 00:23:51.33\00:23:54.03 that will be in heaven, and I want to say that 00:23:54.06\00:23:56.73 all that is on this earth will pass away 00:23:56.77\00:24:00.60 these shoes, the latest shoes, the latest fashion trend, 00:24:00.64\00:24:03.54 even our highest educational pursuits, 00:24:03.57\00:24:07.48 one day, will be forgotten 00:24:07.51\00:24:09.98 but what will last in the end 00:24:10.01\00:24:11.85 is our relationship with Jesus Christ 00:24:11.88\00:24:13.55 and so I encourage you, if you have not already, 00:24:13.62\00:24:16.42 to develop that relationship day by day 00:24:16.45\00:24:18.62 to pray, read the Bible, 00:24:18.65\00:24:20.96 it may start with five minutes devotions in the morning 00:24:20.99\00:24:24.09 or even a minute, 00:24:24.13\00:24:25.46 but starting somewhere and developing what really matters 00:24:25.49\00:24:29.53 because what will it mean 00:24:29.56\00:24:31.50 if you gain this whole world but you lose your soul 00:24:31.53\00:24:34.07 and there are souls that are perishing right now 00:24:34.10\00:24:36.57 and God wants to use you. 00:24:36.60\00:24:38.61 Why do we give God... 00:24:38.67\00:24:40.58 a pastor was saying yesterday "Why do people give God 00:24:40.61\00:24:43.04 their later areas of life when they're older 00:24:43.08\00:24:45.98 and they can't do as much but want to use their 00:24:46.01\00:24:48.88 younger years of life for the devil?" 00:24:48.92\00:24:51.55 but I say, "Switch that around 00:24:51.59\00:24:53.39 and not waiting until you're too old 00:24:53.42\00:24:56.76 or waiting until you're older to start worshipping God 00:24:56.79\00:25:01.70 to start living for God, but even starting now 00:25:01.73\00:25:04.07 starting now, using the moments that you have today 00:25:04.10\00:25:07.80 because God wants to use you now 00:25:07.84\00:25:09.67 He wants to use the old person, He wants to use the young person 00:25:09.70\00:25:12.14 He wants to use everybody to do His work, 00:25:12.17\00:25:14.41 the commission was given, so...
