the 70-week prophecy.

the first 7 weeks have to do

with the rebuilding
and restoring of Jerusalem.

And then 62 weeks
beyond that takes us

to the anointing of the Messiah,

and that's redundant

because the word
Messiah means anointed.

But anyway, Jesus is

Jesus says don't

city of the Samaritans,

sheep of the house of Israel."

Now why would Jesus
say something like that?

go to the Gentiles,

Jesus was speaking

or allotted for the Jews.

Here Jesus makes a statement
that appears to be calloused.

It appears that He's saying
that the salvation is basically

simply for the Jews
and not for the Gentiles.

really what Jesus is saying.

Now that appears to be careless.

Jesus is saying, "I said,
I was sent only to the Jews,

that wasn't sent

We need to understand, however,

that because the 70 weeks

By the way, Jesus did
bring salvation to Gentiles

during His ministry too.

This Canaanite woman, He said,

"Salvation has

kind of faith in Israel."

remember the centurion
that Jesus healed His servant?

The centurion was a Gentile.

We also have Jesus ministering
to the Samaritan woman.

So it's not that Jesus ignored

the salvation of the
Gentiles and the Samaritans.

was set specifically

which were allowed
it to the Jewish nation.

the scribes were the theologians

and the Pharisees
were the ministers.

concluding part of the woes

upon the scribes and Pharisees.

It says there

cup is gonna be full.

And now I want you to notice
something very interesting.

Jesus is saying these words

death on the cross,

and yet Jesus is going to say

gonna die in two or three days,

He is gonna send more
messengers after His death

to literal Israel

because the 70 weeks
have not yet come to an end.

Notice what He
continues saying in verse 34,

"Therefore, indeed,
I send you prophets,

wise men, and scribes."

What tense is the verb?

"Will kill and crucify.

So Jesus is saying,
"Even after My death,

I'm gonna send you, wise men,
I'm gonna to send you prophets,

and you are going to do

the same thing to them
that you're going to do to Me

to the messengers

And then notice that
Jesus next speaks about

the destruction of Jerusalem.

Once again, Matthew Chapter
23 and beginning with verse 37,

Jesus says, "O Jerusalem,
the one who kills the prophets

and stones those
who are sent to her.

How often I wanted to
gather your children together,

as a hen gathers her
chicks under her wings,
00:09:50.19\00:09:52.95
but you were not willing."

And then notice in verse
38, what Jesus has to say,

And then in the next chapter,

that Jesus departs the temple.

reject the Jewish theocracy.

destruction of Jerusalem

God used Nebuchadnezzar
to destroy the city,

the sanctuary, the walls,

and they went captive
for a period of 70 years.

After that, they
rebuilt their city

and they rebuilt the temple.

But in Daniel Chapter 9,

we find that at the
end of the 70 weeks,

actually beyond the
end of the 70 weeks,

Jerusalem was going to be
destroyed again, this time,

not by the Babylonians
but this time by the Romans

Jerusalem was gonna be destroyed

happened to the Messiah.
