Well, welcome back. 00:00:10.91\00:00:13.34 The title of our study for this session is 00:00:13.38\00:00:16.78 "Are Protestants an Endangered Species." 00:00:16.81\00:00:21.05 But before we study, 00:00:21.08\00:00:22.42 we want to ask for the Lord's blessing. 00:00:22.45\00:00:24.49 So let's bow our heads for prayer. 00:00:24.52\00:00:27.02 Father in heaven, we're going to study 00:00:27.06\00:00:28.49 a very important subject. 00:00:28.52\00:00:31.06 And we need the help of your Holy Spirit. 00:00:31.09\00:00:33.90 So we ask that You will be present here 00:00:33.93\00:00:35.76 with us through Your Holy Spirit. 00:00:35.80\00:00:38.13 You will give us understanding and You will help us, Lord, 00:00:38.17\00:00:42.04 to see the urgency of the times that we're living in, 00:00:42.07\00:00:44.91 certainly prophecies being fulfilled 00:00:44.94\00:00:47.01 before our very eyes, right and left. 00:00:47.04\00:00:50.31 Help us, Lord, to stand for You in these times. 00:00:50.35\00:00:54.72 We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer, 00:00:54.75\00:00:57.09 what we ask it in Jesus' name. 00:00:57.12\00:00:59.25 Amen. 00:00:59.29\00:01:03.59 There are two things that will eventually bring 00:01:03.63\00:01:08.26 Protestants back to the Mother Church, 00:01:08.30\00:01:11.47 as the Roman Catholic Church is known. 00:01:11.50\00:01:14.87 Number one is that the Protestant denominations 00:01:14.90\00:01:20.38 never have been able 00:01:20.41\00:01:22.61 to sever their doctrinal relationship 00:01:22.64\00:01:26.41 with the Roman Catholic Church 00:01:26.45\00:01:28.42 in several doctrines. 00:01:28.45\00:01:30.59 I'm speaking particularly of two doctrines 00:01:30.62\00:01:34.12 that Protestants were never able to get rid of. 00:01:34.16\00:01:38.73 Number one, the observance of Sunday as the day of rest, 00:01:38.76\00:01:44.20 and number two, the idea of immortality of the soul. 00:01:44.23\00:01:49.74 Protestants, beginning with a Protestant reformers 00:01:49.77\00:01:52.94 were never able to deliver or free themselves 00:01:52.97\00:01:57.45 from these two great errors of the papacy. 00:01:57.48\00:02:01.95 That's the reason why Ellen White explains 00:02:01.98\00:02:04.95 that these two doctrines are going to join Protestants, 00:02:04.99\00:02:09.19 Catholics and worldings. 00:02:09.22\00:02:11.59 I read from Great Controversy, page 588. 00:02:11.63\00:02:15.63 "Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul 00:02:15.66\00:02:19.67 and Sunday sacredness, 00:02:19.70\00:02:22.30 Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. 00:02:22.34\00:02:26.11 While the former 00:02:26.14\00:02:27.48 lays the foundation of spiritualism," 00:02:27.51\00:02:29.48 that is that state of dead, 00:02:29.51\00:02:31.65 "the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome..." 00:02:31.68\00:02:34.95 That Sunday. 00:02:34.98\00:02:36.55 "The Protestants of the United States 00:02:36.58\00:02:39.19 will be foremost 00:02:39.22\00:02:41.12 in stretching their hands across the gulf 00:02:41.16\00:02:43.96 to grasp the hand of spiritualism, 00:02:43.99\00:02:46.90 they will reach over the abyss 00:02:46.93\00:02:48.56 to clasp the hands with the Roman power, 00:02:48.60\00:02:52.57 and under the influence of this threefold union, 00:02:52.60\00:02:55.57 this country, the United States, 00:02:55.60\00:02:58.07 will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling 00:02:58.11\00:03:01.61 on the rights of conscience." 00:03:01.64\00:03:04.51 So, you notice that she mentions two doctrines 00:03:04.55\00:03:07.85 that will eventually join Protestantism, 00:03:07.88\00:03:10.59 Catholicism and spiritualism, the state of the dead, 00:03:10.62\00:03:15.66 the idea that the Roman Catholic Church has 00:03:15.69\00:03:18.06 along with Protestants that the dead aren't dead, 00:03:18.09\00:03:20.80 the immortality of the soul. 00:03:20.83\00:03:22.66 And secondly, the idea that Sunday 00:03:22.70\00:03:25.40 is God's sacred day of worship. 00:03:25.43\00:03:28.97 So doctrinally because 00:03:29.00\00:03:30.41 Protestants were not able to get rid of everything, 00:03:30.44\00:03:34.14 all of the false teachings of Roman Catholic Church, 00:03:34.18\00:03:36.81 they will come back to mother. 00:03:36.85\00:03:38.91 I want to read you a statement by John O'Bryan. 00:03:38.95\00:03:43.92 For many years he was a theology professor 00:03:43.95\00:03:46.62 at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. 00:03:46.65\00:03:50.79 And in this statement, 00:03:50.83\00:03:52.76 he makes a very interesting remark 00:03:52.79\00:03:56.13 about Protestants and the Mother Church. 00:03:56.16\00:04:00.77 This is how it reads. 00:04:00.80\00:04:02.90 "But since Saturday, not Sunday, 00:04:02.94\00:04:06.78 is specified in the Bible, 00:04:06.81\00:04:09.24 isn't it curious that non-Catholics 00:04:09.28\00:04:12.58 who profess to take 00:04:12.61\00:04:13.95 their religion directly from the Bible, 00:04:13.98\00:04:16.08 and not from the church, 00:04:16.12\00:04:18.05 observe Sunday instead of Saturday? 00:04:18.09\00:04:21.16 Yes, of course, it is inconsistent, 00:04:21.19\00:04:23.83 but this change was made about 15 centuries 00:04:23.86\00:04:27.06 before Protestantism was born, and by that time, 00:04:27.10\00:04:30.67 the custom was universally observed. 00:04:30.70\00:04:33.87 They, that is Protestants, 00:04:33.90\00:04:35.70 have continued the custom of gaping Sunday, 00:04:35.74\00:04:38.71 even though it rests upon the authority 00:04:38.74\00:04:42.08 of the Catholic Church, 00:04:42.11\00:04:43.61 and not upon an explicit text in the Bible. 00:04:43.65\00:04:47.25 And now, here comes the key portion. 00:04:47.28\00:04:50.12 That observance of Sunday by Protestants, 00:04:50.15\00:04:54.59 remains as a reminder of the Mother Church 00:04:54.62\00:04:58.83 from which the non-Catholic sects broke away, 00:04:58.86\00:05:03.06 like a boy running away from home, 00:05:03.10\00:05:06.03 but still carrying in his pocket 00:05:06.07\00:05:08.90 a picture of his mother or a lock of her hair. 00:05:08.94\00:05:14.01 Are you understanding the point? 00:05:14.04\00:05:16.64 When you don't run away from home for good, 00:05:16.68\00:05:21.08 you're bound to return because you have the tokens 00:05:21.12\00:05:24.39 of remembrance of a mother. 00:05:24.42\00:05:26.96 The second reason 00:05:26.99\00:05:28.32 why Protestants will return to mother 00:05:28.36\00:05:31.03 is because they have not stood for that 00:05:31.06\00:05:33.63 which their ancestors were willing to die. 00:05:33.66\00:05:37.00 They have shifted their interpretation 00:05:37.03\00:05:39.43 of Bible prophecy. 00:05:39.47\00:05:41.04 Not only do they reflect the papacy 00:05:41.07\00:05:43.30 in certain key doctrines, 00:05:43.34\00:05:44.74 the state of the dead and the Sabbath, 00:05:44.77\00:05:47.04 but they also have adopted a counterfeit system 00:05:47.08\00:05:50.05 of interpreting Bible prophecy. 00:05:50.08\00:05:52.68 They no longer believe that the Man of Sin, 00:05:52.71\00:05:54.95 The Abomination of Desolation, the Harlot, the Little Horn, 00:05:54.98\00:05:59.49 the King of the North, the Beast, 00:05:59.52\00:06:01.39 the Antichrist represents the Roman Catholic Church. 00:06:01.42\00:06:05.16 And because they don't believe that 00:06:05.19\00:06:07.26 all of these prophecies were fulfilled in 00:06:07.30\00:06:09.76 with the Roman Catholic papacy, 00:06:09.80\00:06:12.10 they no longer fear the papacy, 00:06:12.13\00:06:15.37 because they have forgotten their roots. 00:06:15.40\00:06:17.91 You see, they believe that the papacy has changed, 00:06:17.94\00:06:21.48 but let me say that a system and a person 00:06:21.51\00:06:25.08 never changes its DNA. 00:06:25.11\00:06:28.75 Where it has its DNA, 00:06:28.78\00:06:30.19 it has that DNA once and for all. 00:06:30.22\00:06:33.56 Ellen White explained, the genius if you please, 00:06:33.59\00:06:38.59 used in a qualified sense of the papacy. 00:06:38.63\00:06:42.26 In Great Controversy, page 571, she wrote, 00:06:42.30\00:06:45.87 "It is part of Rome's policy to assume the character 00:06:45.90\00:06:50.34 which will best accomplish her purpose, 00:06:50.37\00:06:53.34 but beneath the variable appearance 00:06:53.38\00:06:56.24 of the chameleon, 00:06:56.28\00:06:57.71 she hides the invariable venom of the serpent." 00:06:57.75\00:07:02.58 So you notice that the Roman Catholic papacy 00:07:02.62\00:07:05.09 uses camouflage. 00:07:05.12\00:07:07.36 And Protestants have bought into the doctrines, 00:07:07.39\00:07:11.39 some of the doctrines of Roman Catholicism, 00:07:11.43\00:07:13.93 and they have adopted her prophetic method 00:07:13.96\00:07:17.37 of interpreting the prophecies of the Bible. 00:07:17.40\00:07:20.84 Now the relationships between Roman Catholics and Protestants 00:07:20.87\00:07:24.61 began to seriously thaw at Vatican Council II, 00:07:24.64\00:07:29.68 the various Protestant denominations 00:07:29.71\00:07:31.45 were invited to be there as observers. 00:07:31.48\00:07:34.85 Vatican Council II took place between 1962 and 1965. 00:07:34.88\00:07:40.72 And I want to read a couple of statements. 00:07:40.76\00:07:43.43 One is by John XXIII, who was the one 00:07:43.46\00:07:46.43 who started the council, then he died. 00:07:46.46\00:07:49.20 And Pope Paul VI finished this Ecumenical Council 00:07:49.23\00:07:52.87 from 1962 to 1965. 00:07:52.90\00:07:55.74 I want to read the words of Pope John XXIII 00:07:55.77\00:07:59.31 to the Protestants that came to Vatican II. 00:07:59.34\00:08:02.51 This is what he said. 00:08:02.54\00:08:04.88 "The Roman Catholic Church 00:08:04.91\00:08:07.78 desires to be an affectionate, 00:08:07.82\00:08:11.55 kind and patient mother, 00:08:11.59\00:08:15.39 she is moved by compassion and goodness 00:08:15.42\00:08:18.76 towards her alienated children." 00:08:18.79\00:08:23.57 Referring to the Protestants. 00:08:23.60\00:08:25.77 And, of course, the Protestants were carrying 00:08:25.80\00:08:27.40 a lock of her hair, 00:08:27.44\00:08:29.87 a memento to remind them of their mother. 00:08:29.90\00:08:35.64 Pope Paul VI, 00:08:35.68\00:08:38.11 who took the place of Pope John XXIII, 00:08:38.15\00:08:41.55 also referred to Protestants and the Mother Church. 00:08:41.58\00:08:47.52 This is how his words were given to the Protestants. 00:08:47.56\00:08:53.36 "Because of their position, separated brethren 00:08:53.40\00:08:58.27 are the object of deep and tender affection 00:08:58.30\00:09:01.20 on the part of the Mother Church. 00:09:01.24\00:09:04.67 It is a love that feels grief and sadness, 00:09:04.71\00:09:08.01 the love of a heart wounded by estrangement, 00:09:08.04\00:09:11.25 because the estrangement prevents our brethren, 00:09:11.28\00:09:14.58 that is Protestants, 00:09:14.62\00:09:15.95 from enjoying so many privileges and rights, 00:09:15.98\00:09:18.72 and makes them lose so much grace. 00:09:18.75\00:09:21.46 But perhaps for this very reason its love, 00:09:21.49\00:09:24.76 the Roman Catholic Church's love, 00:09:24.79\00:09:26.70 is all the deeper 00:09:26.73\00:09:28.46 and more burning towards Protestants." 00:09:28.50\00:09:32.43 So notice that this is a case of two popes 00:09:32.47\00:09:36.37 speaking about the mother and the alienated children 00:09:36.40\00:09:41.08 of the mother and the separated brethren. 00:09:41.11\00:09:44.31 As a result of Vatican Council II, 00:09:44.35\00:09:47.45 Protestants began to change their view 00:09:47.48\00:09:51.29 of the Roman Catholic papacy. 00:09:51.32\00:09:53.36 Before that, they held the papacy 00:09:53.39\00:09:56.42 under great suspicion, but after that, 00:09:56.46\00:09:59.86 they began having dialogues and studies 00:09:59.89\00:10:02.56 this on a scholarly level between Protestants 00:10:02.60\00:10:05.67 and Roman Catholics. 00:10:05.70\00:10:07.37 Now what I want to do in the next several minutes 00:10:07.40\00:10:10.54 is read you statements 00:10:10.57\00:10:12.24 from several prominent Protestants, 00:10:12.27\00:10:16.85 after Vatican Council II about the Mother, 00:10:16.88\00:10:20.65 about the Roman Catholic Church. 00:10:20.68\00:10:22.15 This never would have happened in the times of Ellen White. 00:10:22.18\00:10:25.92 This never would have happened in the days of Martin Luther 00:10:25.95\00:10:28.42 and Calvin and Zwingli. 00:10:28.46\00:10:31.13 But Protestantism had changed after Vatican II. 00:10:31.16\00:10:36.10 Let me read you from Chuck Colson. 00:10:36.13\00:10:39.13 Maybe you've never heard of Chuck Colson. 00:10:39.17\00:10:41.00 He was one of the individuals 00:10:41.04\00:10:42.80 involved in the Watergate affair, 00:10:42.84\00:10:46.71 and he actually spent several years in prison 00:10:46.74\00:10:49.78 and he's head 00:10:49.81\00:10:51.15 of Prison Ministries International, 00:10:51.18\00:10:53.21 which is a good work that he has done. 00:10:53.25\00:10:56.48 But he wrote in Keith Fournier's book, 00:10:56.52\00:10:59.79 Evangelical Catholics, 00:10:59.82\00:11:01.16 Keith Fournier was actually Roman Catholic, 00:11:01.19\00:11:03.66 and he wrote a book Evangelical Catholics. 00:11:03.69\00:11:06.36 I want to read your three statements 00:11:06.39\00:11:08.10 that Chuck Colson 00:11:08.13\00:11:09.46 wrote in the introduction to this book 00:11:09.50\00:11:11.00 written by a Roman Catholic. 00:11:11.03\00:11:13.40 "It's high time that all of us 00:11:13.44\00:11:16.34 who are Christians come together 00:11:16.37\00:11:19.67 regardless of the differences of our confessions 00:11:19.71\00:11:23.01 and our traditions and make common cause 00:11:23.04\00:11:27.28 to bring Christian values to bear in our society. 00:11:27.32\00:11:30.99 When the barbarians are scaling the walls, 00:11:31.02\00:11:33.89 there is no time for petty quarreling in the camp." 00:11:33.92\00:11:38.79 So he's saying, we need to come together 00:11:38.83\00:11:41.36 regardless of our differences, 00:11:41.40\00:11:44.07 to embrace a common cause. 00:11:44.10\00:11:47.30 He also wrote, "But at root, those who are called of God, 00:11:47.34\00:11:52.64 whether Catholic or Protestant, 00:11:52.67\00:11:55.14 are part of the same body." 00:11:55.18\00:11:57.78 Interesting that he would say 00:11:57.81\00:11:59.15 we're all part of the same body. 00:11:59.18\00:12:01.42 "What they share is a belief in the basics." 00:12:01.45\00:12:04.95 Now that Protestants and Catholics 00:12:04.99\00:12:06.62 share a belief in the basics, what are those basics? 00:12:06.65\00:12:09.22 He says, "The virgin birth, the deity of Christ, 00:12:09.26\00:12:12.69 His bodily resurrection, His imminent return, 00:12:12.73\00:12:15.63 and the authority of His infallible word. 00:12:15.66\00:12:19.03 They also share the same mission, 00:12:19.07\00:12:21.30 presenting Christ as Savior and Lord to a needy world." 00:12:21.34\00:12:24.84 I beg to differ that 00:12:24.87\00:12:26.37 Protestants have the same mission 00:12:26.41\00:12:27.74 as the Roman Catholic Church. 00:12:27.78\00:12:29.68 And I seriously beg to differ 00:12:29.71\00:12:32.35 that Catholics and Protestants share the same view 00:12:32.38\00:12:35.32 on these doctrines that he mentions. 00:12:35.35\00:12:37.59 The Roman Catholic Church does not believe that 00:12:37.62\00:12:40.19 the Bible is God's authoritative word. 00:12:40.22\00:12:42.19 They believe that tradition has to be added 00:12:42.22\00:12:44.69 to have the complete picture. 00:12:44.73\00:12:46.93 In another statement, Chuck Colson, 00:12:46.96\00:12:49.03 this very influential person wrote, 00:12:49.06\00:12:52.23 "I pray that this book," the book written by 00:12:52.27\00:12:55.50 this Roman Catholic Keith Fournier, 00:12:55.54\00:12:57.67 the name of the book is Evangelical Catholics. 00:12:57.71\00:12:59.64 He says, "I pray that this book will be read 00:12:59.67\00:13:03.55 by Catholics and Protestants alike, 00:13:03.58\00:13:06.28 that it will be a bridge 00:13:06.31\00:13:08.75 across many of the historic divisions in the church 00:13:08.78\00:13:12.12 that have weakened our stand in today's culture. 00:13:12.15\00:13:16.22 Interesting, build a bridge. 00:13:16.26\00:13:19.86 Ellen White talks about 00:13:19.89\00:13:21.23 reaching the hand across the gulf 00:13:21.26\00:13:24.10 to clasp the hands of Protestants, 00:13:24.13\00:13:27.44 Catholics and spiritualists. 00:13:27.47\00:13:30.27 Let me say a few things about Ralph Reed. 00:13:30.31\00:13:33.07 He was actually the first president 00:13:33.11\00:13:35.84 of the Christian Coalition, which was established 00:13:35.88\00:13:38.88 by Pat Robertson's organization. 00:13:38.91\00:13:42.25 He gave a speech 00:13:42.28\00:13:43.62 to the Catholic campaign for America, 00:13:43.65\00:13:46.15 which is a Catholic organization. 00:13:46.19\00:13:47.82 He was invited to give a speech there. 00:13:47.86\00:13:50.03 I want to read you some of the statements 00:13:50.06\00:13:52.03 by this evangelical Ralph Reed. 00:13:52.06\00:13:55.53 By the way, he's very influential. 00:13:55.56\00:13:56.93 Now, he is a lobbyist in Washington D.C. 00:13:56.97\00:14:00.00 for Christian causes. 00:14:00.04\00:14:01.77 I'm gonna read 00:14:01.80\00:14:03.14 several statements that he made. 00:14:03.17\00:14:04.51 Here is one, "The truth is, 00:14:04.54\00:14:09.28 you and I are uniting." 00:14:09.31\00:14:11.95 He's saying to these Protestants, 00:14:11.98\00:14:13.88 "We are coming together 00:14:13.92\00:14:15.85 because whatever theological differences there are, 00:14:15.88\00:14:19.79 there is far more that unites us 00:14:19.82\00:14:22.62 and brings us together 00:14:22.66\00:14:24.56 than divides us and separates us. 00:14:24.59\00:14:27.66 The good news is that the chasm is being bridged 00:14:27.70\00:14:31.33 and that those walls are crumbling." 00:14:31.37\00:14:34.04 The walls between Protestants and Catholics he's saying. 00:14:34.07\00:14:37.67 And then he states, "The truth my friends is this. 00:14:37.71\00:14:42.44 Catholicism never has been, is not today, 00:14:42.48\00:14:47.28 never will be a threat to American democracy. 00:14:47.32\00:14:52.62 It was and remains the most colorful 00:14:52.65\00:14:55.96 and most vibrant thread running through the tapestry 00:14:55.99\00:14:59.89 of American democracy." 00:14:59.93\00:15:03.03 In another statement, he refers to Cardinal Gibbons, 00:15:03.06\00:15:05.70 a great Cardinal renowned in the United States. 00:15:05.73\00:15:09.20 And he wrote this. 00:15:09.24\00:15:11.01 "Cardinal Gibbons said this: he said, 00:15:11.04\00:15:15.58 No constitution is more in harmony 00:15:15.61\00:15:20.02 with Catholic principles than the American Constitution, 00:15:20.05\00:15:24.45 and no religion is more in accord 00:15:24.49\00:15:27.26 with that constitution than the Catholic religion." 00:15:27.29\00:15:31.16 That's amazing. 00:15:31.19\00:15:32.59 He's quoting Gibbons and he's approving 00:15:32.63\00:15:35.00 of what Cardinal Gibbons had to say. 00:15:35.03\00:15:37.60 Either Ralph Reed is suffering of historical amnesia 00:15:37.63\00:15:43.04 or else he's openly prevaricating and lying. 00:15:43.07\00:15:47.54 In the Amarillo Sunday News Globe 00:15:47.58\00:15:51.15 for December 10, 1995. 00:15:51.18\00:15:54.35 Ralph Reed wrote the following, 00:15:54.38\00:15:56.79 "We can no longer afford to be divided. 00:15:56.82\00:15:59.99 It is a luxury that is no longer ours." 00:16:00.02\00:16:04.03 So division is a luxury, he says, 00:16:04.06\00:16:06.63 then it continues his statement, 00:16:06.66\00:16:09.06 "The left, the political left, wants you and I to be divided. 00:16:09.10\00:16:13.87 Nothing frightens the left more than Christians 00:16:13.90\00:16:18.01 shattering the barriers of denomination." 00:16:18.04\00:16:22.88 One last statement by Ralph Reed, he stated, 00:16:22.91\00:16:26.48 "Obviously, some teachings are 00:16:26.51\00:16:28.98 more important than others, 00:16:29.02\00:16:31.45 and there has to be an agreement 00:16:31.49\00:16:33.66 on those essential points." 00:16:33.69\00:16:35.26 I want you to remember these statements, 00:16:35.29\00:16:37.06 because at the end, I'm gonna read you 00:16:37.09\00:16:38.43 some statements from Ellen White 00:16:38.46\00:16:39.79 that were written 130 years ago. 00:16:39.83\00:16:42.73 So once again, "Obviously, some teachings 00:16:42.76\00:16:45.13 are more important than others 00:16:45.17\00:16:46.70 and there has to be an agreement 00:16:46.74\00:16:48.40 on those essential points, 00:16:48.44\00:16:51.01 while leaving considerable latitude 00:16:51.04\00:16:53.38 on other points that are less essential 00:16:53.41\00:16:56.34 to the faith." 00:16:56.38\00:16:58.55 Let me read you what W.A. Criswell had to say. 00:16:58.58\00:17:03.22 W.A. Criswell pastored one of the largest churches 00:17:03.25\00:17:07.92 in the United States, 00:17:07.96\00:17:09.69 the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. 00:17:09.72\00:17:13.53 And he wrote the following. 00:17:13.56\00:17:14.96 This is quoted in Dave Hunt's book, 00:17:15.00\00:17:17.17 A Woman Rides the Beast, page 388. 00:17:17.20\00:17:20.34 This Protestant pastor, Baptist mind you, wrote, 00:17:20.37\00:17:25.04 "I don't know of anyone more dedicated 00:17:25.07\00:17:28.44 to the great fundamental doctrines of Christianity 00:17:28.48\00:17:32.68 than the Catholics." 00:17:32.71\00:17:35.52 Let me tell you a few things 00:17:35.55\00:17:36.89 about the late Billy Graham, you know, 00:17:36.92\00:17:38.25 he's gonna be buried very soon. 00:17:38.29\00:17:42.16 I don't know if you're aware, 00:17:42.19\00:17:43.53 but the assistant evangelist to Billy Graham, 00:17:43.56\00:17:46.26 when Billy Graham couldn't go to a place 00:17:46.29\00:17:48.46 was Emilio Knechtle. 00:17:48.50\00:17:50.47 And he converted 00:17:50.50\00:17:51.93 to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:17:51.97\00:17:54.40 And so he knew Billy Graham very well 00:17:54.44\00:17:57.01 and several times he said that Billy Graham knew very well, 00:17:57.04\00:18:01.54 the Adventist view of the Sabbath 00:18:01.58\00:18:03.68 as well as other doctrines. 00:18:03.71\00:18:05.51 Let me and, of course, he knew about 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.22 the Seventh-day Adventist view of the papacy and so on. 00:18:07.25\00:18:10.72 Billy Graham, of course, 00:18:10.75\00:18:13.22 was the most admired Protestant minister 00:18:13.25\00:18:15.32 in the United States until the moment of his death, 00:18:15.36\00:18:17.63 he counseled presidents, all of the presidents. 00:18:17.66\00:18:21.33 I don't know which president it begins with, 00:18:21.36\00:18:23.83 but he was always in the White House, 00:18:23.87\00:18:25.83 praying for presidents and giving spiritual advice. 00:18:25.87\00:18:30.17 Let me read you what Billy Graham had to say. 00:18:30.21\00:18:33.21 "I've found that my beliefs are essentially the same 00:18:33.24\00:18:39.11 as those of Orthodox Roman Catholics." 00:18:39.15\00:18:42.42 That is quoted in A Women Rides the Beast, 00:18:42.45\00:18:45.25 page 388. 00:18:45.29\00:18:47.36 In 1981, Billy Graham held the pope, 00:18:47.39\00:18:51.99 who was John Paul II at that time, 00:18:52.03\00:18:54.26 "As the greatest moral leader of the world 00:18:54.30\00:18:58.13 and the world's greatest evangelist." 00:18:58.17\00:19:01.70 In US News and World Report, 00:19:01.74\00:19:04.47 we find these words spoken by Billy Graham. 00:19:04.51\00:19:08.71 And this is for December 19, 1988. 00:19:08.74\00:19:12.38 He said, "World travel and getting to know 00:19:12.41\00:19:16.89 the clergy of all denominations has helped mold me 00:19:16.92\00:19:21.76 into an ecumenical being. 00:19:21.79\00:19:25.26 We're separated by theology and, 00:19:25.29\00:19:28.03 in some instances by culture and race, 00:19:28.06\00:19:31.30 but all that means nothing to me anymore." 00:19:31.33\00:19:36.47 On the program Good Morning America 00:19:36.50\00:19:38.94 for August 12, 1993, 00:19:38.97\00:19:41.71 Billy Graham stated, "I admire the pope. 00:19:41.74\00:19:44.55 We address the same moral issues." 00:19:44.58\00:19:48.58 And the program Larry King Live on CNN, 00:19:48.62\00:19:53.09 in Salt Lake City, January 21, 1998. 00:19:53.12\00:19:57.86 Larry King interviewed Billy Graham. 00:19:57.89\00:20:02.66 The pope had just been named... 00:20:02.70\00:20:05.97 John Paul II have just been named the pope. 00:20:06.00\00:20:09.10 And Billy Graham was in Salt Lake City. 00:20:09.14\00:20:10.71 So Larry King interviewed him. 00:20:10.74\00:20:12.81 And here's the question and answers. 00:20:12.84\00:20:16.28 And Larry King asked, "Do you feel comfortable 00:20:16.31\00:20:18.61 with Salt Lake City? 00:20:18.65\00:20:20.22 Do you feel comfortable with the Vatican?" 00:20:20.25\00:20:23.08 Graham answered, "Oh, I'm very comfortable 00:20:23.12\00:20:25.09 with the Vatican. 00:20:25.12\00:20:26.45 I've been to see the pope several times, 00:20:26.49\00:20:29.22 and, in fact, the day he was inaugurated, 00:20:29.26\00:20:32.86 then is made pope, 00:20:32.89\00:20:34.23 I was preaching in his Cathedral in Krakow. 00:20:34.26\00:20:37.47 I was his guest." 00:20:37.50\00:20:40.27 Larry King then asked, 00:20:40.30\00:20:42.54 "You were preaching in his church, 00:20:42.57\00:20:44.77 the day he was made pope?" 00:20:44.81\00:20:47.41 Billy Graham answered, "That is correct, in Krakow." 00:20:47.44\00:20:50.65 And Billy Graham chuckled when he said that. 00:20:50.68\00:20:55.08 King then asked him, "You must have been shocked?" 00:20:55.12\00:20:58.95 Billy Graham answered, "Of course, I was. 00:20:58.99\00:21:01.06 They were shouting on the streets, you know, 00:21:01.09\00:21:03.32 the next day, 'Polish pope, Polish pope.'" 00:21:03.36\00:21:07.40 And then Larry King asked Billy Graham, 00:21:07.43\00:21:09.36 "Do you like the pope?" 00:21:09.40\00:21:11.30 Billy Graham answered, "I like him very much. 00:21:11.33\00:21:14.44 He's very conservative. 00:21:14.47\00:21:16.34 He and I agree on almost everything." 00:21:16.37\00:21:22.31 The dean of evangelists for the last 80 years, 00:21:22.34\00:21:27.92 or the last 70 years at least. 00:21:27.95\00:21:30.85 Let me mention an ecumenical meeting 00:21:30.89\00:21:33.02 that took place when Pope Benedict 00:21:33.05\00:21:34.89 visited the United States. 00:21:34.92\00:21:37.03 This event took place on Friday, April 18, 2008, 00:21:37.06\00:21:41.93 at St. Joseph's Church in Manhattan, New York. 00:21:41.96\00:21:46.47 The Vatican had invited to come there 00:21:46.50\00:21:49.30 250 Protestant leaders from all denominations, 00:21:49.34\00:21:54.54 represented there were United Methodist, 00:21:54.58\00:21:57.88 Evangelical Lutherans, 00:21:57.91\00:21:59.65 the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, 00:21:59.68\00:22:01.85 the National Association of Evangelicals, 00:22:01.88\00:22:04.52 Presbyterians, the Reformed Church, 00:22:04.55\00:22:07.06 the National Baptist Convention, 00:22:07.09\00:22:09.16 various Pentecostal groups, the Greek Orthodox, 00:22:09.19\00:22:12.36 Armenian and Episcopalian, 00:22:12.39\00:22:14.43 even the Mormons were represented there. 00:22:14.46\00:22:17.73 The Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:22:17.77\00:22:19.10 was not represented at the ecumenical meeting. 00:22:19.13\00:22:22.27 Fifteen of the prominent leaders 00:22:22.30\00:22:24.54 were invited to go and greet the pope, 00:22:24.57\00:22:27.91 as he stood there on the platform, 00:22:27.94\00:22:29.98 these 15 leaders filed one by one to go by the pope. 00:22:30.01\00:22:34.95 I saw this with my own eyes, it was unbelievable. 00:22:34.98\00:22:38.72 These leaders would come and they would shake his hand, 00:22:38.75\00:22:41.99 some of them would bow and then they would whisper 00:22:42.02\00:22:45.79 kind words to Benedict XVI. 00:22:45.83\00:22:49.73 In spite of the fact that Benedict XVI 00:22:49.76\00:22:52.67 wrote very clearly that Protestant churches 00:22:52.70\00:22:55.67 are not real Christian churches, 00:22:55.70\00:22:58.24 and yet you have these 250 prominent religious leaders 00:22:58.27\00:23:02.84 in the United States going to that meeting. 00:23:02.88\00:23:07.78 And by the way, Pope Francis... 00:23:07.82\00:23:12.25 If you go to the internet, you'll be able to find this. 00:23:12.29\00:23:15.59 In Rome, in two different events, 00:23:15.62\00:23:19.29 he sat on a throne, a white throne, 00:23:19.33\00:23:23.70 and on each side of the throne, 00:23:23.73\00:23:26.63 there was a cherub. 00:23:26.67\00:23:29.50 Now, isn't that interesting? 00:23:29.54\00:23:31.61 Because Psalm 80:1 says, 00:23:31.64\00:23:34.04 that God sits between the cherubim, 00:23:34.08\00:23:38.68 and here these Protestants are going there, 00:23:38.71\00:23:42.95 and not fearing the papacy at all, 00:23:42.98\00:23:45.75 because they are returning to the papacy 00:23:45.79\00:23:49.02 on common points of doctrine, 00:23:49.06\00:23:51.29 Sunday as well as the state of the dead, 00:23:51.33\00:23:53.93 the two great doctrines, 00:23:53.96\00:23:55.53 and because they no longer fear the papacy, 00:23:55.56\00:23:57.57 because they have adopted 00:23:57.60\00:23:59.43 the Roman Catholic view of Bible prophecy. 00:23:59.47\00:24:03.81 Let me mention a meeting that took place 00:24:03.84\00:24:09.24 at a convention that was organized by a man 00:24:09.28\00:24:12.51 by the name of Kenneth Copeland. 00:24:12.55\00:24:15.28 Have you ever heard of Kenneth Copeland? 00:24:15.32\00:24:17.39 I'm sure that you've heard about the Tony Palmer affair. 00:24:17.42\00:24:20.82 I'm gonna share those details with you 00:24:20.86\00:24:22.39 because there might be some people here 00:24:22.42\00:24:24.59 who don't know all of the details about this. 00:24:24.63\00:24:28.06 Tony Palmer, 00:24:28.10\00:24:29.50 he died in a motorcycle accident 00:24:29.53\00:24:31.13 shortly after this was an Anglican clergyman 00:24:31.17\00:24:34.60 of the Celtic tradition. 00:24:34.64\00:24:37.04 And he lamented the fact that his own church, 00:24:37.07\00:24:39.81 the Anglican Church, had splintered into many, 00:24:39.84\00:24:43.18 many different groups. 00:24:43.21\00:24:44.65 The Anglican Church was divided into 00:24:44.68\00:24:46.55 all kinds of factions, offshoots everywhere. 00:24:46.58\00:24:49.62 And so he longed for not only the Anglican Church, 00:24:49.65\00:24:53.25 but also for the Protestant churches 00:24:53.29\00:24:55.42 to come together. 00:24:55.46\00:24:57.89 And so he was invited in February of 2014, 00:24:57.93\00:25:03.30 to a conference that was organized 00:25:03.33\00:25:05.07 by Kenneth Copeland. 00:25:05.10\00:25:06.43 Now you need to understand 00:25:06.47\00:25:07.80 that Kenneth Copeland has a lot of clout 00:25:07.84\00:25:09.77 in the United States. 00:25:09.80\00:25:11.54 He has millions of followers. 00:25:11.57\00:25:13.91 He's one of these television evangelists. 00:25:13.94\00:25:17.01 And so Palmer was invited to give a speech there 00:25:17.05\00:25:21.02 at Kenneth Copeland's convention. 00:25:21.05\00:25:23.49 And this took place, February 25, 2014. 00:25:23.52\00:25:28.42 Tony Palmer began by saying that 00:25:28.46\00:25:30.33 he had come in the spirit and power of Elijah, 00:25:30.36\00:25:33.90 to bring the hearts of the sons to the fathers, 00:25:33.93\00:25:36.67 and the fathers to their sons, in other words, 00:25:36.70\00:25:39.43 with the intention of uniting Protestants and Catholics. 00:25:39.47\00:25:44.47 In his address, he lamented that 500 years 00:25:44.51\00:25:49.21 after the reformation, 00:25:49.24\00:25:51.31 Protestantism had split into 33,000 00:25:51.35\00:25:55.02 different denominations and religious entities. 00:25:55.05\00:25:58.65 And then he said, diversity is divine, 00:25:58.69\00:26:02.62 division is diabolic. 00:26:02.66\00:26:06.13 And then he went on to affirm 00:26:06.16\00:26:08.23 that God had given charismatics, the glory, 00:26:08.26\00:26:12.27 so that they might be one. 00:26:12.30\00:26:14.34 And by the way, when I say charismatics, 00:26:14.37\00:26:16.57 a Kenneth Copeland is a charismatic on television. 00:26:16.60\00:26:20.48 Sometimes he actually speaks 00:26:20.51\00:26:22.48 in a language that no one understands. 00:26:22.51\00:26:25.21 And I believe that God Himself 00:26:25.25\00:26:26.65 doesn't understand the language he's speaking in. 00:26:26.68\00:26:29.12 But anyway, 00:26:29.15\00:26:30.49 Tony Palmer continues saying this, 00:26:30.52\00:26:33.09 "It is the glory that glues us together, 00:26:33.12\00:26:36.79 not the doctrine." 00:26:36.83\00:26:39.49 Interesting. 00:26:39.53\00:26:40.86 In other words, we all have a common experience, 00:26:40.90\00:26:43.67 doctrine doesn't matter. 00:26:43.70\00:26:45.03 So he says, 00:26:45.07\00:26:46.40 "It is the glory that glues us together, 00:26:46.43\00:26:47.90 not the doctrine. 00:26:47.94\00:26:49.27 It's the glory. 00:26:49.30\00:26:50.64 If you accept that the glory of God is living in me 00:26:50.67\00:26:54.58 and the presence of God is in you, 00:26:54.61\00:26:56.95 that's all we need, 00:26:56.98\00:26:58.41 because God will sort out 00:26:58.45\00:27:00.42 all our doctrine later upstairs. 00:27:00.45\00:27:04.55 Christian unity is the basis of our credibility 00:27:04.59\00:27:07.92 because Jesus said 00:27:07.96\00:27:09.72 that until we are one the world will not believe." 00:27:09.76\00:27:14.83 Now 1999, Roman Catholics and Protestants, 00:27:14.86\00:27:20.44 specifically the Lutherans had signed, 00:27:20.47\00:27:23.67 what is known as the Joint Declaration 00:27:23.71\00:27:25.91 on righteousness by faith. 00:27:25.94\00:27:27.84 And basically, the Lutheran said, you know, 00:27:27.88\00:27:30.61 the debate between Lutheran, 00:27:30.65\00:27:32.35 the Roman Catholic Church was mostly 00:27:32.38\00:27:34.65 on a debate over semantics. 00:27:34.68\00:27:37.02 But really, there wasn't that much difference between 00:27:37.05\00:27:39.72 Luther and the Roman Catholic Church. 00:27:39.75\00:27:41.26 Interesting that it would, 00:27:41.29\00:27:42.62 they would wait till 1999 to say such a thing. 00:27:42.66\00:27:46.59 And so he lamented in his speech, 00:27:46.63\00:27:49.23 Palmer did that only the Lutherans 00:27:49.26\00:27:54.24 and at that point, 00:27:54.27\00:27:55.60 the Methodist had signed the Joint Declaration 00:27:55.64\00:27:57.91 on righteousness by faith. 00:27:57.94\00:27:59.27 He says, "Where are all of the other Protestant groups 00:27:59.31\00:28:02.54 in signing this declaration, this joint declaration?" 00:28:02.58\00:28:06.61 And then he stated, 00:28:06.65\00:28:08.68 speaking about Luther's Protestant movement. 00:28:08.72\00:28:11.45 He said, "Brothers and sisters, 00:28:11.49\00:28:13.86 Luther's protest is over. 00:28:13.89\00:28:16.96 Is yours?" 00:28:16.99\00:28:19.13 And then after lamenting as I mentioned that 00:28:19.16\00:28:21.63 no evangelical church 00:28:21.66\00:28:23.37 had signed this joint declaration 00:28:23.40\00:28:25.40 between Catholics and Lutherans. 00:28:25.43\00:28:28.40 He said, "This must be fixed. 00:28:28.44\00:28:31.07 The protest has been over for 15 years. 00:28:31.11\00:28:36.61 If there is no longer any protest, 00:28:36.64\00:28:39.58 how can there be a Protestant Church? 00:28:39.61\00:28:42.18 Maybe now we are all Catholics again." 00:28:42.22\00:28:47.69 Isn't this amazing? 00:28:47.72\00:28:51.09 Then, of course, we know that Tony Palmer 00:28:51.13\00:28:53.53 was a good friend of Pope Francis I. 00:28:53.56\00:28:56.77 He visited him many times. 00:28:56.80\00:28:59.23 And so before this convention, 00:28:59.27\00:29:00.90 he had gone to visit Pope Francis I, 00:29:00.94\00:29:04.21 and he told him, you're not gonna have this, 00:29:04.24\00:29:05.74 they're gonna be at this big convention, 00:29:05.77\00:29:07.34 this best big charismatic convention, 00:29:07.38\00:29:09.24 I would like you to send a message 00:29:09.28\00:29:11.08 to the people that are coming, hundreds of them, 00:29:11.11\00:29:12.91 leaders of the charismatic movement. 00:29:12.95\00:29:15.48 And so Tony Palmer took out his cell phone, 00:29:15.52\00:29:18.55 and he recorded on the cell phone 00:29:18.59\00:29:20.26 a message from Francis I, 00:29:20.29\00:29:22.86 to those who are attending this convention. 00:29:22.89\00:29:26.93 And I want to read here what the pope had to say 00:29:26.96\00:29:31.47 to those who came to the convention. 00:29:31.50\00:29:33.70 He said, "I am yearning 00:29:33.74\00:29:36.14 that this separation comes to an end 00:29:36.17\00:29:39.81 and gives us communion. 00:29:39.84\00:29:42.08 I am yearning for that embrace." 00:29:42.11\00:29:45.78 At the end of his message, the pope spoke to those 00:29:45.81\00:29:48.75 who had come to 00:29:48.78\00:29:50.12 Kenneth Copeland's convention saying this, 00:29:50.15\00:29:52.92 "Please pray for me, I need your prayers. 00:29:52.95\00:29:56.36 And I will pray for you, but I need your prayers. 00:29:56.39\00:30:00.00 And let's pray that the Lord that He unites us all. 00:30:00.03\00:30:03.63 Come on, we are brothers. 00:30:03.67\00:30:06.10 Let's give each other a spiritual hug, 00:30:06.13\00:30:08.97 and let God complete the work that He has begun. 00:30:09.00\00:30:12.17 And this is a miracle, the miracle of unity has begun. 00:30:12.21\00:30:17.05 I ask you to bless me, I bless you. 00:30:17.08\00:30:20.75 From brother to brother I embrace you." 00:30:20.78\00:30:25.89 After the pope delivered his message, 00:30:25.92\00:30:29.46 the delegates stood and clapped and cheered. 00:30:29.49\00:30:33.50 And Kenneth Copeland went to the stage, 00:30:33.53\00:30:37.80 repeating the same phrase over and over again, 00:30:37.83\00:30:40.97 glory, glory, glory, glory. 00:30:41.00\00:30:44.84 And he stated, we do not know how to pray for him, 00:30:44.87\00:30:50.48 as we ought referring to the pope. 00:30:50.51\00:30:52.95 He says, we don't really know how to pray for the pope. 00:30:52.98\00:30:56.25 And so now, Kenneth Copeland 00:30:56.28\00:30:59.25 begins praying in an unknown tongue 00:30:59.29\00:31:03.99 for the pope. 00:31:04.03\00:31:08.76 At the end of his prayer, he said to Tony Palmer, Tony, 00:31:08.80\00:31:12.83 bring your cell-phone 00:31:12.87\00:31:14.37 because I wanna record a message 00:31:14.40\00:31:15.90 for you to take to the pope. 00:31:15.94\00:31:18.41 And let me read the message that was recorded 00:31:18.44\00:31:22.64 by Kenneth Copeland to send back to the pope 00:31:22.68\00:31:25.38 with Tony Palmer. 00:31:25.41\00:31:26.85 I quote, "These leaders, 00:31:26.88\00:31:30.09 the ones that were at the convention, 00:31:30.12\00:31:31.85 represent literally tens of thousands 00:31:31.89\00:31:34.66 that love you, 00:31:34.69\00:31:37.63 that believe that God is with you, 00:31:37.66\00:31:40.76 and in answer to your request we have just prayed for you 00:31:40.80\00:31:44.03 and with you, and we did so in the spirit. 00:31:44.07\00:31:48.00 We do bless you, we receive your blessing. 00:31:48.04\00:31:52.61 It is very, very important to us. 00:31:52.64\00:31:55.31 And we bless you with all our hearts, 00:31:55.34\00:31:58.21 we bless you with all our souls, 00:31:58.25\00:32:00.58 we bless you with all our might..." 00:32:00.62\00:32:03.55 By the way, who does that apply to? 00:32:03.59\00:32:05.89 God. God. 00:32:05.92\00:32:08.19 And he ended by saying, "And we thank you sir, 00:32:08.22\00:32:11.63 we thank God for you, and so all of us declare: 00:32:11.66\00:32:16.53 'Be blessed.'" 00:32:16.56\00:32:19.30 Would something like this have happened 00:32:19.33\00:32:20.87 in the period of the Reformation? 00:32:20.90\00:32:23.64 Absolutely not. 00:32:23.67\00:32:25.54 But because Protestants share many of the common views 00:32:25.57\00:32:29.68 with the papacy, Sunday, the immortality of the soul, 00:32:29.71\00:32:33.15 among other things, and because 00:32:33.18\00:32:35.15 they have totally forgotten that 00:32:35.18\00:32:37.29 the Antichrist would appear 00:32:37.32\00:32:39.15 when the Roman Empire was divided, 00:32:39.19\00:32:41.12 and that points to the papacy, 00:32:41.16\00:32:42.69 they have a different system of interpreting prophecy. 00:32:42.72\00:32:45.23 They no longer have any fear of the Roman Catholic papacy, 00:32:45.26\00:32:49.46 and therefore, they see no reason 00:32:49.50\00:32:51.73 not to unite with the papacy. 00:32:51.77\00:32:54.94 You know, after this specific episode 00:32:54.97\00:32:57.84 between Tony Palmer and Kenneth Copeland 00:32:57.87\00:33:00.84 and the pope, 00:33:00.88\00:33:02.44 the pope started inviting prominent Protestant leaders 00:33:02.48\00:33:06.08 to come and visit him at the Vatican. 00:33:06.11\00:33:08.35 One of those was James Robison. 00:33:08.38\00:33:11.22 He is a very influential television personality. 00:33:11.25\00:33:15.06 He has a program called Life Today. 00:33:15.09\00:33:17.39 He has thousands and thousands 00:33:17.43\00:33:19.56 of followers across the United States. 00:33:19.59\00:33:22.36 He was invited to go visit the pope, Pope Francis I. 00:33:22.40\00:33:26.60 I want to read you 00:33:26.63\00:33:28.90 what James Robison said to the pope. 00:33:28.94\00:33:32.94 "Pope Francis, let me say to you 00:33:32.97\00:33:37.15 that I see Jesus in you, and in Christ, 00:33:37.18\00:33:41.25 we are brothers, we are family. 00:33:41.28\00:33:45.15 Thank you for speaking the language of love 00:33:45.19\00:33:48.46 that all may come to know him and love him 00:33:48.49\00:33:51.89 and love one another." 00:33:51.93\00:33:54.63 And then he asked for permission 00:33:54.66\00:33:57.17 whether the pope will be willing to give him 00:33:57.20\00:33:59.50 a high-five. 00:33:59.53\00:34:01.60 And for the first time in history, 00:34:01.64\00:34:04.41 Pope Francis I and James Robison 00:34:04.44\00:34:09.08 hit each other's hands in a high-five. 00:34:09.11\00:34:13.82 On May 5, 2014, Tony Palmer was invited to be 00:34:13.85\00:34:18.49 at the program Life Today with James Robison. 00:34:18.52\00:34:23.46 And this is what Tony Palmer 00:34:23.49\00:34:25.09 had to say at James Robison's program. 00:34:25.13\00:34:28.63 "Diversity is divine, 00:34:28.66\00:34:30.93 it is division that is diabolic. 00:34:30.97\00:34:34.07 Jesus' theology..." 00:34:34.10\00:34:36.57 Notice how superficial he sees Jesus' theology. 00:34:36.60\00:34:39.94 "Jesus' theology is that if God is in you 00:34:39.97\00:34:43.78 and you are in God and God is in me 00:34:43.81\00:34:47.52 and I am in God, 00:34:47.55\00:34:49.55 we are one together in God." 00:34:49.58\00:34:52.02 Well, that's profound, isn't it? 00:34:52.05\00:34:55.02 I'm being sarcastic in case you didn't catch it. 00:34:55.06\00:34:58.29 And then he said, "Our sin is that we don't make 00:34:58.33\00:35:01.40 our unity visible 00:35:01.43\00:35:03.43 because we allow our diversities to divide us 00:35:03.47\00:35:07.74 and if we elevate anything to divide us 00:35:07.77\00:35:10.64 we are elevating it above the cross. 00:35:10.67\00:35:13.24 So, whether it is a doctrine or a dogma or an expression, 00:35:13.27\00:35:18.25 if you use that to divide our unity 00:35:18.28\00:35:21.12 you have elevated that doctrine or whatever it may be 00:35:21.15\00:35:24.62 above the cross. 00:35:24.65\00:35:26.22 Now, we are not saying 'put doctrine aside, 00:35:26.25\00:35:29.89 certainly not!' 00:35:29.92\00:35:31.49 Pope Francis recognizes only two fundamental doctrines, 00:35:31.53\00:35:35.06 love for God and love for your neighbor, 00:35:35.10\00:35:37.87 end of doctrine!'" 00:35:37.90\00:35:40.07 So, what he's saying is that the only doctrines 00:35:40.10\00:35:42.10 that are important our love for God 00:35:42.14\00:35:43.54 and love for your fellowman, 00:35:43.57\00:35:45.77 and Protestants and Catholics need to join together 00:35:45.81\00:35:48.91 and just set aside all of the other differences. 00:35:48.94\00:35:52.31 Another individual that was invited to go 00:35:52.35\00:35:55.12 visit the Pope was Joel Osteen. 00:35:55.15\00:35:58.95 Ever heard of him? 00:35:58.99\00:36:00.62 He fills a former basketball Coliseum 00:36:00.66\00:36:05.69 of the Houston Rockets three times on Sundays 00:36:05.73\00:36:08.86 to maximum capacity. 00:36:08.90\00:36:10.63 He has three services at least there. 00:36:10.67\00:36:13.57 And he was invited to go to the Vatican as well, 00:36:13.60\00:36:16.94 after Kenneth Copeland's convention. 00:36:16.97\00:36:19.54 He was a pope's guest. 00:36:19.57\00:36:21.51 And in an interview, 00:36:21.54\00:36:22.88 Joel Osteen said about his visit, 00:36:22.91\00:36:25.71 "I just felt very honored and very humbled." 00:36:25.75\00:36:30.95 He continued, "It was amazing. 00:36:30.99\00:36:33.62 And even to go back into that part of the Vatican, 00:36:33.66\00:36:37.13 there's so much history there," 00:36:37.16\00:36:38.86 you better believe there is, "there's so much history there, 00:36:38.89\00:36:43.00 the place that they took us through, 00:36:43.03\00:36:45.30 you feel that deep respect and reverence for God." 00:36:45.33\00:36:50.54 And then Joel Osteen attended a mass 00:36:50.57\00:36:53.81 that was celebrated in St. Peter's Square. 00:36:53.84\00:36:57.35 There were about 100,000 people gathered there 00:36:57.38\00:36:59.98 when Pope Francis celebrated the mass. 00:37:00.02\00:37:02.62 And this is what Joel Osteen said about that experience. 00:37:02.65\00:37:06.39 "Afterward, the pope spent an hour 00:37:06.42\00:37:09.66 and a half going through the crowd 00:37:09.69\00:37:12.69 with the pope mobile, 00:37:12.73\00:37:14.23 greeting the people. 00:37:14.26\00:37:15.96 It was very heartwarming to see him caring for people. 00:37:16.00\00:37:20.74 I love the fact that he's made the Church 00:37:20.77\00:37:23.10 more inclusive. 00:37:23.14\00:37:25.07 Not trying to make it smaller, 00:37:25.11\00:37:27.44 but to try to make it larger to take everybody in. 00:37:27.48\00:37:33.11 So that just resonates with me." 00:37:33.15\00:37:37.02 Do you think, folks, that if Protestantism 00:37:37.05\00:37:40.09 had stuck to its prophetic principles, 00:37:40.12\00:37:43.36 that any of these individuals 00:37:43.39\00:37:44.93 would be saying things such as this? 00:37:44.96\00:37:48.36 They would never say this, if they believe that 00:37:48.40\00:37:50.43 the papacy was the Antichrist. 00:37:50.47\00:37:52.13 They don't believe that anymore. 00:37:52.17\00:37:54.37 They forsaken their roots of the Protestant Reformation, 00:37:54.40\00:37:58.47 Lutherans, all of the churches have forsaken their roots. 00:37:58.51\00:38:03.45 And that's why I said that 00:38:03.48\00:38:04.81 if Martin Luther resurrected today, 00:38:04.85\00:38:07.48 he would die of a heart attack, 00:38:07.52\00:38:09.62 when he saw what has happened to the church that he founded. 00:38:09.65\00:38:13.46 Let me mention a few things about Rick Warren, 00:38:13.49\00:38:15.89 ever heard about him? 00:38:15.92\00:38:17.93 He wrote two bestsellers, 00:38:17.96\00:38:21.60 The Purpose Driven Church 00:38:21.63\00:38:23.77 and The Purpose Driven Life, 00:38:23.80\00:38:26.03 which by the way are used very prominently 00:38:26.07\00:38:28.50 in many Seventh-day Adventist churches, 00:38:28.54\00:38:30.77 I might say. 00:38:30.81\00:38:32.37 He's the pastor of a large mega church 00:38:32.41\00:38:35.34 in Southern California. 00:38:35.38\00:38:37.28 Time magazine several years ago 00:38:37.31\00:38:40.02 said that Rick Warren was the ideal individual 00:38:40.05\00:38:43.55 to take the place of Billy Graham, 00:38:43.59\00:38:45.99 when Billy Graham passed away. 00:38:46.02\00:38:49.09 Rick Warren was also invited to go 00:38:49.12\00:38:51.09 to the Vatican to visit the pope. 00:38:51.13\00:38:53.73 In November of 2014, Rick Warren said this 00:38:53.76\00:38:59.33 about the relationship between Catholics and Protestants, 00:38:59.37\00:39:03.20 he said, "We have far more in common 00:39:03.24\00:39:06.98 than what divides us." 00:39:07.01\00:39:09.68 And then he stated this, "Catholics and Protestants 00:39:09.71\00:39:13.11 would all say, we believe in the Trinity. 00:39:13.15\00:39:16.42 We believe in the Bible. 00:39:16.45\00:39:18.05 We believe in the resurrection. 00:39:18.09\00:39:20.16 We believe in salvation through Jesus Christ. 00:39:20.19\00:39:22.86 These are the big issues." 00:39:22.89\00:39:25.43 He went on. 00:39:25.46\00:39:26.86 "Sometimes Protestants 00:39:26.90\00:39:28.46 think that Catholics worship Mary 00:39:28.50\00:39:30.67 like she's another god, 00:39:30.70\00:39:32.47 but that's not exactly Catholic doctrine. 00:39:32.50\00:39:35.77 Believe me, it might not be the doctrines of the scholars, 00:39:35.80\00:39:41.04 but the common folk do believe 00:39:41.08\00:39:43.35 that they're worshipping Mary. 00:39:43.38\00:39:45.08 I have gone to many Roman Catholic cathedrals, 00:39:45.11\00:39:47.68 as I see faithful Roman Catholics bowing 00:39:47.72\00:39:50.32 before images of Mary and praying to her. 00:39:50.35\00:39:54.06 He continues saying, "People say: 00:39:54.09\00:39:57.23 'What are the saints all about? 00:39:57.26\00:39:59.53 Why are you praying to the saints?' 00:39:59.56\00:40:02.26 And when you understand what they mean 00:40:02.30\00:40:04.40 by what they're saying, 00:40:04.43\00:40:05.97 there's a whole lot of commonality 00:40:06.00\00:40:08.57 that we have with Catholics." 00:40:08.60\00:40:10.84 There still are real differences, 00:40:10.87\00:40:12.74 no doubt about that, 00:40:12.77\00:40:14.24 but the most important thing is, 00:40:14.28\00:40:16.58 if you love Jesus, we are on the same team. 00:40:16.61\00:40:20.78 When it comes to the family, 00:40:20.82\00:40:22.75 we are coworkers in this field 00:40:22.78\00:40:27.66 for the protection of the sanctity of life, 00:40:27.69\00:40:30.19 the sanctity of sex and the sanctity of marriage. 00:40:30.23\00:40:34.06 So there's a great commonality and there's no division 00:40:34.10\00:40:39.60 on any of those three." 00:40:39.63\00:40:43.81 There have also been ecumenical documents 00:40:43.84\00:40:45.74 that have been signed. 00:40:45.77\00:40:47.71 The pope went to Malmo, 00:40:47.74\00:40:52.91 Sweden, 00:40:52.95\00:40:54.28 a year before the anniversary of the Protestant Reformation 00:40:54.32\00:40:58.12 and there, the Lutheran 00:40:58.15\00:41:00.32 and the pope signed an agreement. 00:41:00.36\00:41:04.46 Furthermore, the Joint Declaration 00:41:04.49\00:41:07.33 and Righteousness by faith was signed between 00:41:07.36\00:41:09.40 Lutherans and Roman Catholics in 1999. 00:41:09.43\00:41:14.27 A little bit earlier, a document was signed 00:41:14.30\00:41:16.71 Evangelicals and Catholics together, 00:41:16.74\00:41:19.51 saying that they should all cooperate 00:41:19.54\00:41:21.61 in sharing the gospel. 00:41:21.64\00:41:23.58 And as we know, Pope Francis gave a speech 00:41:23.61\00:41:27.95 before a Joint Sense Session of the Congress 00:41:27.98\00:41:30.45 of the United States without a single ounce of fear 00:41:30.49\00:41:34.12 on the part of any of the politicians 00:41:34.16\00:41:35.99 who were present there. 00:41:36.02\00:41:38.19 As it's known, Pope Francis has made it 00:41:38.23\00:41:40.43 the top of his agenda to try and unite the Christian world, 00:41:40.46\00:41:45.43 to try and unite Protestants. 00:41:45.47\00:41:47.70 He has had meeting after meeting, 00:41:47.74\00:41:49.64 he has visited country after country 00:41:49.67\00:41:51.71 with the intention 00:41:51.74\00:41:53.17 of joining Protestants together. 00:41:53.21\00:41:57.25 Now, let me read you before we come to 00:41:57.28\00:41:59.68 the conclusion of our study 00:41:59.71\00:42:01.78 some statements that were written by 00:42:01.82\00:42:03.69 Ellen G. White. 00:42:03.72\00:42:05.99 They were written in 1888, 00:42:06.02\00:42:11.26 when Protestants and Catholics 00:42:11.29\00:42:13.09 did not get along at all. 00:42:13.13\00:42:16.13 Protestants looked at Roman Catholics 00:42:16.16\00:42:18.07 with tremendous suspicion. 00:42:18.10\00:42:20.97 Ellen White prophetically said, 00:42:21.00\00:42:23.84 this is going to change. 00:42:23.87\00:42:28.11 It's like she's writing now, 00:42:28.14\00:42:31.68 what she wrote back then. 00:42:31.71\00:42:33.78 I'm gonna take the time 00:42:33.82\00:42:36.25 to read several statements of Ellen White 00:42:36.28\00:42:39.29 from the Book Great Controversy. 00:42:39.32\00:42:42.19 And one of them will be from the Book Maranatha. 00:42:42.22\00:42:44.79 "Protestants have tampered with 00:42:49.40\00:42:52.47 and patronized popery. 00:42:52.50\00:42:55.84 They have made compromises and concessions 00:42:55.87\00:42:59.77 which papists themselves are surprised to see 00:42:59.81\00:43:03.65 and fail to understand." 00:43:03.68\00:43:06.25 The papacy says, this is too good to be true. 00:43:06.28\00:43:09.32 Here they're making these compromises and concessions, 00:43:09.35\00:43:12.19 we can't understand it, 00:43:12.22\00:43:13.56 the very Catholics can't understand this. 00:43:13.59\00:43:16.12 She continued, "Men are closing their eyes 00:43:16.16\00:43:20.50 to the real character of Romanism 00:43:20.53\00:43:23.43 and the dangers to be apprehended from her supremacy. 00:43:23.47\00:43:27.27 The people need to be aroused," notice, 00:43:27.30\00:43:30.81 people need to know about this, 00:43:30.84\00:43:32.47 "the people need to be aroused to resist the advances 00:43:32.51\00:43:36.51 of this most dangerous foe to civil 00:43:36.54\00:43:39.95 and religious liberty." 00:43:39.98\00:43:43.62 She wrote in Great Controversy, page 445, 00:43:43.65\00:43:48.02 "When the leading churches of the United States, 00:43:48.06\00:43:51.29 uniting upon such points of doctrine 00:43:51.33\00:43:55.93 as are held by them in common..." 00:43:55.96\00:43:58.73 Did we notice some of the Protestant leaders 00:43:58.77\00:44:01.04 in recent time saying that? 00:44:01.07\00:44:03.27 Yes. 00:44:03.30\00:44:04.87 "When the leading churches of the United States, 00:44:04.91\00:44:06.78 uniting upon such points of doctrines 00:44:06.81\00:44:09.04 as are held by them in common, 00:44:09.08\00:44:11.11 shall influence the state to enforce their decrees 00:44:11.15\00:44:14.72 and to sustain their institutions, 00:44:14.75\00:44:17.39 then Protestant America will have formed an image 00:44:17.42\00:44:21.02 of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction 00:44:21.06\00:44:23.93 of civil penalties 00:44:23.96\00:44:25.29 upon dissenters will inevitably result." 00:44:25.33\00:44:30.77 In Great Controversy, page 444, 00:44:30.80\00:44:33.47 the page right before the one that I just read. 00:44:33.50\00:44:36.00 She states, "The wide diversity of belief 00:44:36.04\00:44:39.37 in the Protestant churches 00:44:39.41\00:44:41.14 is regarded by many as decisive proof 00:44:41.18\00:44:44.41 that no effort to secure a forced uniformity 00:44:44.45\00:44:48.28 can ever be made. 00:44:48.32\00:44:50.15 But there has been for years, 00:44:50.19\00:44:52.75 in churches of a Protestant faith, 00:44:52.79\00:44:55.19 a strong and growing sentiment 00:44:55.22\00:44:58.19 in favor of a union based upon common points 00:44:58.23\00:45:02.86 of doctrine. 00:45:02.90\00:45:04.47 To secure such a union," listen carefully, 00:45:04.50\00:45:07.37 "to secure such a union, the discussion of subjects 00:45:07.40\00:45:11.57 upon which all were not agreed, 00:45:11.61\00:45:14.48 however important they might be, 00:45:14.51\00:45:17.25 from a Bible standpoint, 00:45:17.28\00:45:19.05 must necessarily be waived." 00:45:19.08\00:45:23.35 In other words, set aside. 00:45:23.39\00:45:25.42 It's amazing that she would write this in 1888, 00:45:25.45\00:45:30.73 and what we read 00:45:30.76\00:45:32.09 from the great Protestant leaders, 00:45:32.13\00:45:34.00 is very similar in recent times. 00:45:34.03\00:45:37.40 The reason why is because the Great Controversy 00:45:37.43\00:45:40.27 is an inspired book, it's a prophetic book. 00:45:40.30\00:45:44.14 God revealed this to Ellen White 00:45:44.17\00:45:45.97 in vision and in dreams, 00:45:46.01\00:45:49.01 and what she said is transpiring. 00:45:49.04\00:45:51.18 If you read the book Great Controversy, 00:45:51.21\00:45:53.38 which by the way, Ellen White said that 00:45:53.42\00:45:54.82 she would want that book more than any other book 00:45:54.85\00:45:57.19 that she wrote to go to the general public. 00:45:57.22\00:45:59.95 If you read that book, it's like reading in many ways 00:45:59.99\00:46:03.69 the newspaper today, 00:46:03.73\00:46:07.53 because what she predicted 00:46:07.56\00:46:09.00 is being fulfilled to the very letter. 00:46:09.03\00:46:12.17 In Great Controversy, pages 565 and 566, 00:46:12.20\00:46:16.77 she wrote, 00:46:16.81\00:46:18.71 "Protestant churches are in great darkness, 00:46:18.74\00:46:22.38 or they would discern the signs of the times." 00:46:22.41\00:46:26.75 Why are they in darkness? 00:46:26.78\00:46:28.82 For two reasons. 00:46:28.85\00:46:30.42 Number one, they were never 00:46:30.45\00:46:32.49 able to get rid of every vestige 00:46:32.52\00:46:36.06 of union with the Catholic Church, 00:46:36.09\00:46:37.49 doctrinal union. 00:46:37.53\00:46:39.73 And secondly, because they have forsaken 00:46:39.76\00:46:42.66 the historicist method of interpreting prophecy, 00:46:42.70\00:46:45.57 which identifies the papacy as the Antichrist of Scripture. 00:46:45.60\00:46:49.60 So she writes, "The Protestant churches 00:46:49.64\00:46:51.27 are in great darkness, or they would discern 00:46:51.31\00:46:53.71 the signs of the times. 00:46:53.74\00:46:55.44 The Roman Church is far-reaching inner plans 00:46:55.48\00:46:58.81 and modes of operation. 00:46:58.85\00:47:00.85 She is employing every device to extend her influence 00:47:00.88\00:47:05.85 and increase her power in preparation for a fierce 00:47:05.89\00:47:10.43 and determined conflict to regain control of the world, 00:47:10.46\00:47:16.06 to re-establish persecution, 00:47:16.10\00:47:18.97 and to undo all that Protestantism has done." 00:47:19.00\00:47:24.04 Did you notice two words that she uses in this statement? 00:47:24.07\00:47:28.11 To regain control of the world? 00:47:28.14\00:47:30.61 What would that mean? What does the word regain mean? 00:47:30.65\00:47:34.38 It means to get back. 00:47:34.42\00:47:37.35 Did the papacy had that power once before? 00:47:37.39\00:47:40.56 When? During the 1260 years. 00:47:40.59\00:47:44.53 She says, now, the papacy is what? 00:47:44.56\00:47:47.06 The papacy is struggling to regain 00:47:47.10\00:47:50.50 control of the world to reestablish. 00:47:50.53\00:47:54.84 What does reestablish mean? 00:47:54.87\00:47:57.41 Same thing, to recover, to reestablish persecution 00:47:57.44\00:48:02.61 and undo all that Protestantism has done. 00:48:02.64\00:48:06.18 Is the papacy being quite successful? 00:48:06.21\00:48:08.55 Would you say? 00:48:08.58\00:48:09.98 Very, very successful. 00:48:10.02\00:48:12.82 Here's another statement by Ellen White. 00:48:12.85\00:48:15.69 This is in Great Controversy, page 581. 00:48:15.72\00:48:19.06 "Rome is aiming to reestablish her power, 00:48:19.09\00:48:24.23 to recover her lost supremacy. 00:48:24.27\00:48:28.24 Let the principle once be established 00:48:28.27\00:48:30.91 in the United States that the church may employ 00:48:30.94\00:48:34.58 or control the power of the state, 00:48:34.61\00:48:37.38 that religious observances 00:48:37.41\00:48:38.88 may be enforced by secular laws, 00:48:38.91\00:48:42.32 in short, that the authority of church 00:48:42.35\00:48:45.02 and state is to dominate the conscience 00:48:45.05\00:48:48.22 and the triumph of Rome 00:48:48.26\00:48:50.13 in this country is assured." 00:48:50.16\00:48:54.66 I don't know if you're aware of this. 00:48:54.70\00:48:57.53 But if it had not been for the evangelicals, 00:48:57.57\00:49:00.74 Donald Trump would not be President of the United States. 00:49:00.77\00:49:04.61 He catered to the conservative Protestants, 00:49:04.64\00:49:08.08 83% of them voted for Donald Trump. 00:49:08.11\00:49:11.91 And he made them many interesting promises. 00:49:11.95\00:49:14.72 I don't know if he gonna keep all those promises. 00:49:14.75\00:49:16.92 But one of those promises 00:49:16.95\00:49:18.29 was to get rid of the Johnson Amendment, 00:49:18.32\00:49:22.39 which was approved by Congress in the year 1954, 00:49:22.42\00:49:25.86 which forbids nonprofit organizations 00:49:25.89\00:49:29.53 from taking sides for one political party 00:49:29.56\00:49:33.10 or the other or one political candidate, 00:49:33.13\00:49:35.50 and the other. 00:49:35.54\00:49:37.24 Secrets unsealed, is an officially incorporated 00:49:37.27\00:49:40.28 nonprofit organization. 00:49:40.31\00:49:41.81 We have a 501C3 status. 00:49:41.84\00:49:45.38 We cannot take sides on, you know, 00:49:45.41\00:49:48.82 for one political party or the other political party, 00:49:48.85\00:49:51.89 one candidate or the other candidate, 00:49:51.92\00:49:54.72 because we would lose our tax exempt status, 00:49:54.76\00:49:58.59 according to the Johnson Amendment. 00:49:58.63\00:50:01.60 One of the promises that Donald Trump made was 00:50:01.63\00:50:04.03 to get rid of the Johnson Amendment. 00:50:04.07\00:50:07.20 So that nonprofit organizations, 00:50:07.24\00:50:09.40 by the way, all churches 00:50:09.44\00:50:10.91 that are incorporated are nonprofit organizations. 00:50:10.94\00:50:14.34 So, that they can take the sides of political parties. 00:50:14.38\00:50:18.38 You know, what that would do? 00:50:18.41\00:50:19.75 That would entangle the church 00:50:19.78\00:50:21.22 with the state and the state with the church. 00:50:21.25\00:50:23.62 Political candidates would cater to the churches 00:50:23.65\00:50:25.89 to get votes. 00:50:25.92\00:50:27.26 And churches would cater to the candidates 00:50:27.29\00:50:29.09 so the candidates would give them money. 00:50:29.12\00:50:32.39 And what entangled both of them? 00:50:32.43\00:50:34.80 Now, Donald Trump has not yet taken the step 00:50:34.83\00:50:37.50 of abolishing the Johnson Amendment. 00:50:37.53\00:50:39.90 However, he has told the IRS 00:50:39.93\00:50:42.67 go soft on those 00:50:42.70\00:50:44.07 who support political candidates 00:50:44.11\00:50:46.11 don't prosecute, 00:50:46.14\00:50:47.68 which is basically in practical terms, 00:50:47.71\00:50:49.74 the same thing as abolishing this particular amendment. 00:50:49.78\00:50:54.38 I wanna read another statement that we find 00:50:54.42\00:50:57.02 in the Book Maranatha, page 216. 00:50:57.05\00:51:01.52 "The people of the United States 00:51:01.56\00:51:04.39 have been a favored people." 00:51:04.43\00:51:07.00 Would you agree with that? 00:51:07.03\00:51:09.40 You know, when I see the abundance 00:51:09.43\00:51:13.23 that the United States has, it is simply amazing. 00:51:13.27\00:51:17.61 Abundance of everything, and then you look like 00:51:17.64\00:51:21.04 in a country like Venezuela, where my friend Vandre is from. 00:51:21.08\00:51:26.61 There are people eating out of the garbage. 00:51:26.65\00:51:29.68 They can't find medicines, people are dying of illnesses 00:51:29.72\00:51:32.62 because there's no medicines. 00:51:32.65\00:51:35.82 People have to stand in line for all day, 00:51:35.86\00:51:39.46 just to get a bag of rice. 00:51:39.49\00:51:42.46 This country has been so blessed by the Lord. 00:51:42.50\00:51:45.63 And Ellen White says, 00:51:45.67\00:51:47.00 "The people of the United States 00:51:47.04\00:51:48.37 have been a favored people, 00:51:48.40\00:51:50.11 but when they restrict religious liberty, 00:51:50.14\00:51:54.44 surrender Protestantism, 00:51:54.48\00:51:57.18 and give countenance to popery, 00:51:57.21\00:52:00.38 the measure of their guilt will be full, 00:52:00.42\00:52:03.72 and 'national apostasy' will be registered 00:52:03.75\00:52:06.82 in the books of heaven. 00:52:06.86\00:52:08.59 The result of this apostasy 00:52:08.62\00:52:10.59 will be national ruin." 00:52:10.63\00:52:14.66 In fact, Ellen White wrote in Great Controversy, 00:52:14.70\00:52:17.03 what the secret of the power 00:52:17.07\00:52:19.23 and prosperity of the United States is. 00:52:19.27\00:52:23.20 She said, "The secret of the power 00:52:23.24\00:52:24.97 and prosperity of the United States 00:52:25.01\00:52:26.57 is not that it has more money, 00:52:26.61\00:52:28.31 that it has more territory, 00:52:28.34\00:52:29.91 that has a more powerful military, 00:52:29.94\00:52:31.98 that people are more intelligent." 00:52:32.01\00:52:33.98 she says, "The secret of its power 00:52:34.02\00:52:35.65 and prosperity are the two principles 00:52:35.68\00:52:38.15 upon which the United States was built, 00:52:38.19\00:52:41.12 republicanism and Protestantism, 00:52:41.16\00:52:43.43 separation of church and state, 00:52:43.46\00:52:45.76 which has been the Protestant view 00:52:45.79\00:52:47.46 since the Reformation. 00:52:47.50\00:52:48.86 The Roman Catholic papacy says, "No, 00:52:48.90\00:52:51.33 not a separation of church and state, 00:52:51.37\00:52:53.90 the union of church and state." 00:52:53.94\00:52:56.57 And eventually the United States 00:52:56.60\00:52:58.34 will buy into this and national apostasy 00:52:58.37\00:53:01.68 will be written in the books of heaven, 00:53:01.71\00:53:03.75 and it will be followed by national ruin. 00:53:03.78\00:53:06.85 I wanna read one closing statement 00:53:06.88\00:53:08.72 before we end. 00:53:08.75\00:53:10.69 This is in the Book Maranatha, page 179, 00:53:10.72\00:53:14.66 it's a sad statement. 00:53:14.69\00:53:17.43 "When the land which the Lord provided 00:53:17.46\00:53:19.69 as an asylum for His people, that they might worship Him 00:53:19.73\00:53:23.67 according to the dictates of their own consciences, 00:53:23.70\00:53:26.70 the land over which for long years 00:53:26.74\00:53:28.90 the shield of Omnipotence has been spread, 00:53:28.94\00:53:32.11 the land which God has favored by making it 00:53:32.14\00:53:34.31 the depository of the pure religion of Christ, 00:53:34.34\00:53:37.91 when that land, through its legislators, 00:53:37.95\00:53:42.12 abjure, that means abandon 00:53:42.15\00:53:44.12 the principles of Protestantism, 00:53:44.15\00:53:46.65 and give countenance to Romish apostasy 00:53:46.69\00:53:50.13 in tampering with God's law. 00:53:50.16\00:53:52.66 It is then that the final work of the man of sin 00:53:52.69\00:53:56.23 will be revealed. 00:53:56.26\00:53:58.20 Protestants will throw 00:53:58.23\00:54:00.74 their whole influence and strength 00:54:00.77\00:54:03.44 on the side of the papacy, by a national act..." 00:54:03.47\00:54:07.74 What is a national act? 00:54:07.78\00:54:09.31 It's an act of Congress, folks. 00:54:09.34\00:54:11.05 "By a national act, enforcing the false Sabbath," 00:54:11.08\00:54:15.65 because Protestants would never able to get 00:54:15.68\00:54:17.65 rid of the false Sabbath. 00:54:17.69\00:54:20.16 She says, "By a national act enforcing the false Sabbath," 00:54:20.19\00:54:24.79 notice the terminology now, 00:54:24.83\00:54:26.63 "they will give life and vigor." 00:54:26.66\00:54:30.40 Why would the papacy need life and vigor? 00:54:30.43\00:54:33.74 What does it have? 00:54:33.77\00:54:35.70 A deadly wound, that's right. 00:54:35.74\00:54:38.17 "They will give life and vigor to the corrupt 00:54:38.21\00:54:40.84 faith of Rome, reviving..." 00:54:40.88\00:54:43.71 What does it mean to revive? 00:54:43.75\00:54:47.62 Can you revive that 00:54:47.65\00:54:48.98 and would receive a deadly wound? 00:54:49.02\00:54:50.35 No. 00:54:50.39\00:54:51.72 "Reviving her tyranny and oppression of conscience. 00:54:51.75\00:54:55.46 Then it will be time for God to work in mighty power 00:54:55.49\00:55:00.10 for the vindication of His truth." 00:55:00.13\00:55:03.53 What do you think? 00:55:03.57\00:55:07.00 Are we living in prophetic times? 00:55:07.04\00:55:09.97 How do we know that? 00:55:10.01\00:55:12.21 Because we have a certain method 00:55:12.24\00:55:13.94 of interpreting prophecy. 00:55:13.98\00:55:16.91 We know what's happening, because prophecy tells us 00:55:16.95\00:55:20.48 that the papacy is gonna receive power again. 00:55:20.52\00:55:23.95 And it's the beast that rises from the earth 00:55:23.99\00:55:25.62 with the two horns like a lamb 00:55:25.65\00:55:26.99 that is gonna give the power back. 00:55:27.02\00:55:29.82 And then the United States will make an image 00:55:29.86\00:55:31.56 of the first beast, it's gonna join church 00:55:31.59\00:55:33.13 and state like the first beast, that's the image of the beast. 00:55:33.16\00:55:35.80 It will reflect what the papacy was. 00:55:35.83\00:55:38.47 And then the papacy will be able to persecute again, 00:55:38.50\00:55:40.94 because we can see 00:55:40.97\00:55:42.30 the trajectory of prophecy, folks, 00:55:42.34\00:55:45.21 and because the Adventist Church 00:55:45.24\00:55:47.14 has totally separated its doctrines from the papacy, 00:55:47.18\00:55:51.91 including the state of the dead and the day of worship. 00:55:51.95\00:55:55.75 Protestantism on the other hand 00:55:55.78\00:55:57.62 has kept a lock of the hair of her mother, so to speak. 00:55:57.65\00:56:03.22 And has accepted the shift in prophetic interpretation, 00:56:03.26\00:56:07.36 and therefore Protestantism is totally powerless today 00:56:07.40\00:56:11.90 when it speaks about Bible prophecy. 00:56:11.93\00:56:15.37 In our next study together, 00:56:15.40\00:56:18.41 the title will be 00:56:18.44\00:56:20.28 Historicism's Last Stand. 00:56:20.31\00:56:24.55 We are going to take a look at the fact that 00:56:24.58\00:56:28.92 there is only one church in the world 00:56:28.95\00:56:32.62 that has the correct method of interpreting prophecy. 00:56:32.65\00:56:36.12 And that is the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:56:36.16\00:56:39.89 It is the method of historicism or what I like to call 00:56:39.93\00:56:44.37 the historical flow method 00:56:44.40\00:56:46.40 that follows the sequence of Bible prophecy, 00:56:46.43\00:56:49.64 the chain of prophecy that has certain links. 00:56:49.67\00:56:53.61 Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, the pagan Roman Empire, 00:56:53.64\00:56:58.01 Rome divided into 10, 00:56:58.05\00:57:00.02 than the papacy ruling 1260 years, 00:57:00.05\00:57:02.82 receiving a deadly wound. 00:57:02.85\00:57:04.72 At that same time, the second beast rises, 00:57:04.75\00:57:07.56 it guarantees civil and religious liberty, 00:57:07.59\00:57:09.79 the two horns, but then it helps 00:57:09.82\00:57:12.19 the first beast recover its power, 00:57:12.23\00:57:14.50 and the result is the restriction of civil 00:57:14.53\00:57:17.07 and religious liberty, and the time of trouble 00:57:17.10\00:57:19.47 such as never has been seen. 00:57:19.50\00:57:22.50 Is that a correct way of interpreting prophecy? 00:57:22.54\00:57:26.14 It's the method, folks. 00:57:26.17\00:57:28.41 The Adventist Church is historicism's last stand, 00:57:28.44\00:57:32.31 and the devil knows it. 00:57:32.35\00:57:34.22 And that's the reason why Satan to a great degree 00:57:34.25\00:57:37.49 has distracted our church from the message 00:57:37.52\00:57:41.49 that we should be proclaiming, 00:57:41.52\00:57:42.86 we're all caught up inside issues. 00:57:42.89\00:57:45.83 We're preaching the sermons of evangelicals. 00:57:45.86\00:57:48.83 We're preaching sermons on the parables, 00:57:48.86\00:57:50.33 nothing wrong with the parables, 00:57:50.37\00:57:51.70 they're okay. 00:57:51.73\00:57:53.07 But we're preaching sermons that could be preached 00:57:53.10\00:57:54.60 in any evangelical church, 00:57:54.64\00:57:56.60 when we should be proclaiming 00:57:56.64\00:57:57.97 the Three Angels' Messages 00:57:58.01\00:57:59.34 and the Prophetic Message 00:57:59.37\00:58:00.71 that God has given to our church. 00:58:00.74\00:58:02.34 May that be our experiences is my prayer. 00:58:02.38\00:58:05.15
