Is straightening the faith of the 00:01:10.74\00:01:14.27 reader by sharing more knowledge and wisedome. 00:01:14.30\00:01:16.53 - My name is Aiko and I am a seniour in highschool, 00:01:16.56\00:01:22.34 and the thing I like about the bible the most it's that it's 00:01:22.37\00:01:25.17 a revelation of God's character and it really shoes that 00:01:25.20\00:01:27.98 God loves us and was willing to go all out just to save us. 00:01:28.01\00:01:33.83 - Amen! 00:01:33.87\00:01:34.84 - My name is Garrett, I'm a sophomore in highschool 00:01:34.85\00:01:37.94 and the thing I apreciate about the bible is that the characters 00:01:37.97\00:01:41.11 in the bible, some failed, but God didn't reject them, 00:01:41.15\00:01:44.20 He stuk by their side and pulled them through. 00:01:44.24\00:01:46.16 - That's right. Amen! 00:01:46.19\00:01:47.30 - My name is James Collar and I'm a sophomore 00:01:47.33\00:01:51.07 in highschool, and the thing I apreciate most about 00:01:51.10\00:01:53.88 the bible is that it has the truth and we need the thruth 00:01:53.92\00:01:56.96 so that it will set us free. 00:01:57.00\00:01:58.74 - Amen! 00:01:58.77\00:01:59.74 - Hello, my name is Danielle and I'm a junior in 00:01:59.75\00:02:02.92 highschool and the one thing I really apreciate about the bible 00:02:02.96\00:02:05.84 is that whenever I have any questions I can go to it 00:02:05.87\00:02:08.58 and it will always give me the answers. 00:02:08.61\00:02:10.38 - Amen! 00:02:10.42\00:02:11.39 - You know, as we look back through history, 00:02:11.40\00:02:14.32 we see examples of people and groups of people throughout 00:02:14.36\00:02:17.73 the history that belived that there were answers, that the 00:02:17.76\00:02:22.64 so called "moral dilemma" does not exist. 00:02:22.67\00:02:25.99 One of those special groups of people were the Waldensians 00:02:26.03\00:02:28.93 and of course they hold a special place in our hearts as 00:02:28.97\00:02:32.40 many of us has actually visited the mountains and valleys where 00:02:32.43\00:02:36.32 they lived and we've all spent time studying about them. 00:02:36.36\00:02:39.89 And right now I think it will be intresting to share 00:02:39.92\00:02:44.51 some stories about some "moral dilemmas" that the 00:02:44.55\00:02:48.29 Waldensians faced. Danielle, what can you tell us? 00:02:48.32\00:02:51.65 - Well in 1655 after the Waldensians refused to give up 00:02:51.69\00:02:57.02 their faith, enemies invaded their home land in Northen Italy 00:02:57.05\00:03:01.59 to kill them, and they decided to flee the mountain and it must 00:03:01.63\00:03:10.03 of been a terrible climb as I remember climbing it,it's a very 00:03:10.06\00:03:13.27 streighnuos, very long hike. 00:03:13.31\00:03:19.52 And they had their children, they were carying their babies and 00:03:19.56\00:03:23.21 they were fleeing for their lives. 00:03:23.25\00:03:25.17 And seeing all that the soldiers still had a bitter 00:03:25.20\00:03:29.00 hate in their hearts for those people, that they falowed 00:03:29.03\00:03:32.13 them up there and asked them one last time to deny 00:03:32.16\00:03:34.72 their God, to give up their faith and they chose not to, 00:03:34.75\00:03:38.88 they chosed that they rather to be rolled over the precipice 00:03:38.92\00:03:42.29 than deny their God. 00:03:42.33\00:03:44.14 - I can remember standing up there at the top of that 00:03:44.18\00:03:47.21 mountain and, I was pretty tired by the time I got to the top, 00:03:47.25\00:03:51.17 I think all of us were, even some of you young men 00:03:51.20\00:03:54.28 that neve grow weary and faint, but it was such an incredible 00:03:54.31\00:04:01.15 experience, to be standing there and realise what 00:04:01.19\00:04:03.73 had happen before hand. How did you feel standing up there? 00:04:03.76\00:04:06.61 - It was hard to imagine hat that's actualy where it 00:04:06.65\00:04:11.35 happened, and the distance from the top to the bottom, it almost 00:04:11.38\00:04:19.35 go straight down, and I just can't imagine it, and it 00:04:19.39\00:04:25.55 would be extremly scary to have that put in front of you. 00:04:25.58\00:04:30.56 - I was busy running around telling everybody to get back 00:04:30.60\00:04:32.62 from the edge, they were willing to be rolled of that 00:04:32.66\00:04:39.43 mountain with their children, rather than give up their faith. 00:04:39.46\00:04:42.56 What happened as a consequence of that? 00:04:42.60\00:04:45.62 - Well even though we might not see the ends, many other 00:04:45.65\00:04:48.77 countries like England and Holland, when they heard about 00:04:48.81\00:04:51.68 that, it apalled them so much that they presured the 00:04:51.71\00:04:55.07 persecuters to stop. 00:04:55.11\00:04:56.73 - So they end up saving many, many lives. I belive that if 00:04:56.77\00:05:01.83 they were to, when it came up to the resurection, they will 00:05:01.86\00:05:06.16 say praise God, that we were able to give our lives for this. 00:05:06.19\00:05:10.81 Let's hear maybe one more story, Ted. 00:05:10.85\00:05:14.04 - There is a man named Gionavello who had a small group 00:05:14.08\00:05:19.24 of men with him who were trying to defend themselves 00:05:19.27\00:05:23.24 from the armies that were after them. 00:05:23.28\00:05:25.66 - What was the ratio? 00:05:25.69\00:05:27.79 - I'm not sure but he only had a few men and there must have 00:05:27.83\00:05:31.52 been thousands in the army against them. 00:05:31.56\00:05:33.67 - I think it was something like 40 to 10.000, something 00:05:33.71\00:05:37.47 like that. 00:05:37.50\00:05:38.47 - He found a place that was very secure and he could hide, 00:05:38.48\00:05:43.81 but somehow the army found his wife and his 00:05:43.85\00:05:49.12 daughters, and they took them and they sent a message to 00:05:49.15\00:05:52.94 Giovanello and they said, we have your wife and daughters and 00:05:52.98\00:05:58.72 we're gonna burn them at the stake if you don't deny your 00:05:58.75\00:06:04.56 faith. But he wrote back, he sent a message back to them and 00:06:04.59\00:06:07.49 he said, well if I deny my faith probably my family would 00:06:07.52\00:06:10.35 fallow me and they would deny theirs too, it's ok if they lose 00:06:10.38\00:06:14.08 their life on this Earth, but if they lose their eternal 00:06:14.11\00:06:17.56 life because I deny my faith than that would be the 00:06:17.59\00:06:20.10 greatest tragedy. 00:06:20.14\00:06:21.94 - I think of any of the stories of the Waldensians, that's 00:06:21.98\00:06:26.12 the one that touches my heart, because we love our family 00:06:26.16\00:06:29.83 so much, but he was exactly right wasn't he? 00:06:29.86\00:06:34.30 Now what was the consequence of his decision? 00:06:34.34\00:06:38.52 - You would expect that his wife and doughters were burn 00:06:38.56\00:06:42.52 at the stake, but the Lord had a different program and the 00:06:42.56\00:06:46.96 Lord delivered his wife and doughters from those who 00:06:46.99\00:06:51.58 captured them and they were all able to flee to safety and keep 00:06:51.62\00:06:56.25 their faith. 00:06:56.28\00:06:57.44 - I love that story . Of course it doesn't always and that 00:06:57.47\00:07:00.49 way but we do know that God is in control, don't we? 00:07:00.52\00:07:04.34 How did this whole ideea of moral dilemmas ever get started? 00:07:04.38\00:07:09.22 Where did it come from? 00:07:09.26\00:07:12.31 - Actualy it started in paganism we've heard all this stories 00:07:12.34\00:07:16.83 where people had to make a decision betwen one bad thing 00:07:16.87\00:07:20.33 and another bad thing, but I don't think that's 00:07:20.36\00:07:23.26 the way God has it planned. 00:07:23.30\00:07:25.27 - Yes I read about a man that had to decide if he was going 00:07:25.31\00:07:31.93 to sacrifice his daughter or obey the gods and go to war, 00:07:31.96\00:07:36.54 and he had to do one or the other and here he was going to 00:07:36.57\00:07:39.53 either disobey his gods or sacrifice his daughter. 00:07:39.56\00:07:43.14 Have you heard scenarios like this that 00:07:43.17\00:07:46.38 people have come up with? 00:07:46.42\00:07:48.39 - There's one that I heard several times, where people say, 00:07:48.42\00:07:52.89 what if someone comes to your door and you are hiding 00:07:52.92\00:07:56.95 a persecuted christian, and they're hiding somebody in your 00:07:56.98\00:08:00.39 house, the soldiers come and they say: tell me where they are, 00:08:00.67\00:08:03.52 if you don't tell me where they are or if you're hiding any 00:08:03.56\00:08:06.59 christians then I'm going to kill you. 00:08:06.63\00:08:12.63 And so you have to eighter lie and say that you don't have any, 00:08:12.67\00:08:17.24 or else you'll be killed or maybe some other bad 00:08:17.28\00:08:19.43 things will happen. 00:08:19.47\00:08:22.19 - At the very list we have to chose betwen lying or saying, 00:08:22.23\00:08:26.35 no they're in the other room, take them and do what 00:08:26.39\00:08:29.99 you want with them. 00:08:30.03\00:08:31.47 We're gonna come back to that moral dilemma, but first 00:08:31.50\00:08:35.90 I'm gonna talk about a moral dilemma that came about many 00:08:35.93\00:08:41.16 years ago, Satan himself tryed to force a moral dilemma 00:08:41.20\00:08:48.33 on God, what was that? 00:08:48.37\00:08:50.08 - Well, Satan said:it's imposible for you to impose your 00:08:50.11\00:08:56.57 law, and save your people. 00:08:56.61\00:08:57.85 Either you have to take away your law, abolish that, and save 00:08:57.89\00:09:02.73 your people, or let your people parish. 00:09:02.76\00:09:08.26 - And he thought that he had God didn't he? But what did God do? 00:09:08.30\00:09:13.76 - He made a way of escape. 00:09:13.79\00:09:14.91 - He cut right through that, didn't He? 00:09:14.95\00:09:17.03 - Yes, that's right. 00:09:17.06\00:09:18.08 - He said: there are more than two options! There are 00:09:18.12\00:09:21.13 many things that you don't even know about, 00:09:21.17\00:09:23.36 and I have a way through. 00:09:23.40\00:09:27.05 That is such a confort to me when I hear about all these 00:09:27.09\00:09:29.90 moral dilemmas and we could probably come up with many 00:09:29.93\00:09:31.81 many of them. 00:09:31.85\00:09:32.82 A mother that had to turn her child in,or have the child go to 00:09:32.83\00:09:37.83 school on Sabath, and she didn't want to, but they took the 00:09:37.86\00:09:42.27 child away, or there is any number of them. 00:09:42.31\00:09:44.31 People in the boat...someone has to be killed, or someone 00:09:44.35\00:09:48.74 has to be out of the boat, or the boat will sink and every 00:09:48.78\00:09:50.85 one will drown. 00:09:50.89\00:09:52.03 - Well, you talked about a way through, what was the way 00:09:52.07\00:09:54.70 through? 00:09:54.73\00:09:55.77 Between the moral dilemma, between Christ and Satan. 00:09:55.81\00:09:58.38 - What was that way through? 00:09:58.41\00:09:59.66 - Instead of allowing the people die off, and of course he 00:09:59.70\00:10:06.73 couldn't have one or the other, I mean He's God, there 00:10:06.76\00:10:10.29 are endless possibilities not just two choices so He just 00:10:10.32\00:10:15.09 cut pass the situation and then He says: 00:10:15.13\00:10:20.96 "No, they don't need to die, I can take there stead." 00:10:20.99\00:10:24.14 - So, how He do that? 00:10:24.17\00:10:26.87 - He sent His only son to die for us on the cross for us, 00:10:26.91\00:10:33.46 who look like hopeless cases, he comes to the rescue and through 00:10:33.49\00:10:41.37 our faith we can lay all our sins on him and make us be as 00:10:41.40\00:10:50.84 though as we never sined before. 00:10:50.87\00:10:51.92 - Amen, praise the Lord! Well, let's go back to a fundamental 00:10:51.96\00:10:57.28 question that if you haven't been asked you will be, and you 00:10:57.31\00:10:59.34 are being asked right now. Is it ever right to lie, steal, cheat, 00:10:59.37\00:11:06.60 whatever break one of the commandments in order 00:11:06.63\00:11:11.09 to save a life. 00:11:11.12\00:11:13.34 - No. Because there are two choices, of course you'll think 00:11:13.37\00:11:19.13 that between two evils you take the lesser evil. 00:11:19.16\00:11:23.33 But you have to realise that the bible does say that when 00:11:23.37\00:11:26.78 we break one we break all, we might as well have 00:11:26.81\00:11:29.85 broken all of the commandments so either 00:11:29.89\00:11:33.67 way you lose if you do that. 00:11:33.70\00:11:35.60 - You're saying that it's the Ten Commandments, 00:11:35.64\00:11:38.15 not the ten suggentions. 00:11:38.19\00:11:39.75 - Exactly. 00:11:39.79\00:11:41.57 - Well, let's go back to this moral dilemma where you, 00:11:41.60\00:11:45.46 very heroically, or whatever, have decided you're going to 00:11:45.49\00:11:51.30 harbor a group of persecuted christians in your home. 00:11:51.33\00:11:54.61 Maybe you have them in your closet, maybe behind a bookcase 00:11:54.64\00:11:58.97 that slides out, they're well hidden, but "knock, knock" the 00:11:59.00\00:12:04.19 police are at your door and they are saying: 00:12:04.23\00:12:05.90 "we've heard that you may have some of these people in your 00:12:05.93\00:12:09.61 home, do you?" 00:12:09.64\00:12:12.04 Ok. Now you're up against am I going to tell a lie,or am I 00:12:12.07\00:12:16.55 going to betray these people to there death? 00:12:16.58\00:12:19.90 How do we get around it? 00:12:19.93\00:12:23.86 - There is one promise we can claim that God says that those 00:12:23.89\00:12:27.05 who honore me I will honore, and Gods honore isn't always life! 00:12:27.08\00:12:30.85 Somethimes it's death. And so, if you honor God and say: 00:12:30.88\00:12:36.98 "Yes I do have them", either He has a thousand ways that we 00:12:37.01\00:12:41.64 can't even forsee, that he can get us out of the situation, 00:12:41.68\00:12:44.89 or it's God's will that those people need to be turned 00:12:44.92\00:12:48.07 in for some unknown reason for us,they need to die,at this 00:12:48.11\00:12:51.60 time. - Ok. Any other ideas. 00:12:51.63\00:12:53.02 - He said that God has a thousand ways to provide for us 00:12:53.05\00:12:57.85 a way of escape and I think a lot of times we have such narrow 00:12:57.88\00:13:04.60 vision that we think it's either this or this, 00:13:04.64\00:13:07.92 but we don't take into consideration the power of God 00:13:07.96\00:13:12.07 because He can blind their eyes, He can change what they hear, 00:13:12.10\00:13:16.67 and we don't take those things into consideration. 00:13:16.71\00:13:20.56 - Exactly. When it comes to that story in the bible in Sodom 00:13:20.60\00:13:26.42 and Gomorrah, when those two angels went to Lot's house and 00:13:26.46\00:13:31.87 God blind their eyes and in this situation the only thing 00:13:31.91\00:13:39.21 that we have to be scared to do is sin, so as long as we 00:13:39.25\00:13:45.80 keep the commandments of God and know that what we have 00:13:45.83\00:13:48.73 done is right the only thing that we have to say to God is 00:13:48.76\00:13:52.46 just: the rest is up to You. 00:13:52.50\00:13:54.52 - Is there another way of answering that question 00:13:54.56\00:13:57.40 besides yes or no? 00:13:57.44\00:13:58.61 - You can say: I don't answer that kind of question, 00:13:58.64\00:14:02.06 or I heard a story about a girl, and she hid some jews in her 00:14:02.10\00:14:09.53 house during the Holocaust, and the soldiers came to her door, 00:14:09.57\00:14:14.21 and...i don't know, a little girl answered, I'm not exactly 00:14:14.25\00:14:18.97 sure, but they came in and said: 00:14:19.01\00:14:20.95 "Do you have any jews?", or "Where are they?", 00:14:20.98\00:14:25.33 because they thought there were some in the house. 00:14:25.36\00:14:28.07 And she said: "O, they're under the table." 00:14:28.10\00:14:30.68 But, what the soldiers didn't know, is that under the table, 00:14:30.72\00:14:35.22 there was a rug, and underneath the rug there was a trapdoor, 00:14:35.26\00:14:38.62 and they were underneath the floor, but they were 00:14:38.66\00:14:42.20 underneath the table. 00:14:42.23\00:14:43.34 So the soldiers went over there, they flipped the table 00:14:43.37\00:14:49.82 cloth up and there was nothing there, so the girl giggled, 00:14:49.86\00:14:53.44 and they felt realy ashamed because, they look like such 00:14:53.48\00:14:56.90 fools, do you know! 00:14:56.94\00:14:57.96 And then they left the house and discussed, like, this 00:14:58.00\00:15:01.18 little girl tricked us. 00:15:01.21\00:15:02.58 But she told the truth, because they were underneath the table, 00:15:02.62\00:15:06.56 but the people were still safe. 00:15:06.60\00:15:09.52 - That's right, God says that if we have faith, even small 00:15:09.56\00:15:13.47 faith, what can happen? 00:15:13.51\00:15:14.94 We can move moutains, right? So, if mountains can be moved, 00:15:14.98\00:15:19.41 we don't have to be worried about people. 00:15:19.45\00:15:21.69 - Amen!So supose it come to your door and instead of saying yes, 00:15:21.72\00:15:26.28 no, you say I refuse to answer that question, 00:15:26.32\00:15:30.19 or something like that. 00:15:30.23\00:15:31.93 I supose the obvious impression you 'd think: 00:15:31.96\00:15:36.04 "Well, if I said that,... what?" 00:15:36.08\00:15:37.61 - They'll take it as a yes. 00:15:37.65\00:15:40.06 - You're trying to evade the question. But when we do 00:15:40.09\00:15:43.64 that what are we actually doing? 00:15:43.67\00:15:46.58 - You tend to predict the future and say that 00:15:46.62\00:15:49.26 God isn't in control anymore. 00:15:49.30\00:15:51.53 - Yes, we're saying: "I know that if I say this, 00:15:51.56\00:15:54.73 this is what will happen", but do we know that? 00:15:54.77\00:15:57.25 - No. 00:15:57.28\00:15:58.25 We don't. No matter what. If we answer as the Holly Spirit 00:15:58.26\00:16:02.26 impresses us, then we obey God and we don't need to be worrying 00:16:02.29\00:16:08.42 about what's going to happen next, do we? 00:16:08.46\00:16:10.43 - We just have to do the right thing and trust God 00:16:10.46\00:16:12.49 with the consequences. 00:16:12.53\00:16:13.72 - So what can be some of the possible outcomes of saying: 00:16:13.76\00:16:16.91 "I refuse to answer that question?" 00:16:16.94\00:16:19.12 - They could shoot you right on the spot. 00:16:19.16\00:16:20.43 - They could shoot you right on the spot. 00:16:20.47\00:16:21.55 That might be God's will. They could leave, what else. 00:16:21.59\00:16:25.73 - They could be blinded or deafened. 00:16:25.77\00:16:28.66 - They could be converted even, couldn't they? 00:16:28.70\00:16:32.68 We don't know the outcome, but we do know what God 00:16:32.71\00:16:37.00 has told us. A story that I really like in the bible is the 00:16:37.04\00:16:44.53 story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. 00:16:44.57\00:16:47.49 What kind of moral dilemma did they have? 00:16:47.52\00:16:49.71 - Was either, obey God and burn into the furnace or, 00:16:49.74\00:16:54.28 obey the law and bow to the golden image. 00:16:54.31\00:16:58.15 - Have you thought about what you would do if you were 00:16:58.18\00:17:03.55 standing up there, on that plane, and there are many 00:17:03.59\00:17:06.90 thousands and they were just flat on their faces. 00:17:06.93\00:17:09.09 - And they were important people it wasn't just the public 00:17:09.12\00:17:13.22 it was the rulers of the provinces, and highup people. 00:17:13.25\00:17:17.32 - From all over the world, and I personally, I don't 00:17:17.35\00:17:22.18 really enjoy being front centered. 00:17:22.21\00:17:24.61 But talk about being in a spotlight, these man were. 00:17:24.65\00:17:28.98 Wouldn't it had been a temptation to say: 00:17:29.02\00:17:32.56 "Well, I think I just noticed a rock in my sandal." 00:17:32.59\00:17:36.30 Or someway to get there at least half way down so that 00:17:36.34\00:17:41.05 it wouldn't be so obvious. 00:17:41.08\00:17:42.45 - Maybe they could of said: "We're actually praying to God." 00:17:42.49\00:17:45.02 - Yeah. 00:17:45.06\00:17:46.03 - We're not praying to the image. 00:17:46.04\00:17:47.24 - We wanna avoid the aparence of evil, and keep away 00:17:47.27\00:17:50.58 from everything that might look like we're fallowing... 00:17:50.62\00:17:52.34 - What if they hadn't stood there? 00:17:55.52\00:17:56.66 - They would of desobey God and shamed themselves, 00:17:56.69\00:18:03.56 shamed God, and they wouldn't had been such a witness to the 00:18:03.60\00:18:08.07 people that were there and to us now. 00:18:08.10\00:18:11.85 - And they also would have lost a great blessing. 00:18:11.88\00:18:14.12 - What was that great blessing? 00:18:18.12\00:18:19.17 - That the Lord's word, He was glorified totaly and thay also 00:18:19.21\00:18:25.37 got to talk with Him face to face. 00:18:25.40\00:18:27.66 - They got to walk around,in the burning fire furnance with 00:18:27.70\00:18:32.58 Jesus. 00:18:32.61\00:18:33.93 Do you supose any one of those would of had it any other way? 00:18:33.96\00:18:38.39 - No, no way. 00:18:38.43\00:18:39.85 - An incredible blessing that they experienced because of 00:18:39.88\00:18:44.20 that. What other examples can you think of from the bible, 00:18:46.17\00:18:48.51 of bible characters that faced moral dilemmas? 00:18:48.55\00:18:51.99 - I think of Abraham, when he was going to sacrifice Isac, 00:18:53.13\00:18:58.25 he could see no way out of it, because God directly told him 00:18:58.28\00:19:02.64 that's what he needed to do, 00:19:02.68\00:19:04.01 but then God provided the lamb. 00:19:04.05\00:19:07.49 - Yes that's right. What else? Any others? 00:19:07.52\00:19:12.21 - I remember in Daniel where they sent for the creed that 00:19:12.24\00:19:17.61 everyone needed to pay to only the king and not to any other 00:19:17.64\00:19:20.54 gods and Daniel had always the habbit of praying in his window, 00:19:20.57\00:19:23.95 and he could of chosen not to, he could close his window but 00:19:23.99\00:19:27.12 instead he chose to go ahead and be the whitnes that he was. 00:19:27.16\00:19:33.94 - Amen. 00:19:33.98\00:19:34.95 - All of these situations I'm hearing, situations I certainly 00:19:34.98\00:19:39.36 not want to be in, but as we look at the outcome of these 00:19:39.40\00:19:45.58 seamingly imposible situations, every time when these men of God 00:19:45.61\00:19:49.32 and I read stories in the bible with the women of God as well, 00:19:49.35\00:19:52.73 when they chose to do things God's way, 00:19:52.77\00:19:56.95 and chose not to disobey, they had such wonderful benefits, 00:19:56.99\00:20:03.34 such wonderful conclusions... 00:20:03.37\00:20:05.70 Last night we were talking about a story of a reformer, 00:20:05.73\00:20:09.89 not very well known, but an incredible story, 00:20:09.92\00:20:13.78 maybe you can share that with us. 00:20:13.81\00:20:15.20 - Well it was the 16-th century, and his name was 00:20:15.23\00:20:19.80 Dirk Williams, and he was in prison because of his faith 00:20:19.84\00:20:23.40 and there was one time when he was escaping from prison 00:20:23.44\00:20:28.56 and he was running ... 00:20:28.60\00:20:30.27 - What time of year was it? 00:20:30.31\00:20:31.68 - It was winter time, cold and there was a guard that was 00:20:31.71\00:20:37.49 chasing him and they came to a river or some stream and .. 00:20:37.52\00:20:41.97 - A lake I think... 00:20:42.01\00:20:43.38 - A lake, ok, but since he was in prison he hadn't been eating 00:20:43.41\00:20:47.94 to well, he was emaciated, skiny and didn't weigh very much 00:20:47.98\00:20:52.51 so he would run across the lake, the ice,but then the guard came, 00:20:52.54\00:20:57.97 heavy, lots of muscle, and he got half way across and he felt in. 00:20:58.00\00:21:05.09 This would have been the perfect time for Williams to run away, 00:21:05.12\00:21:11.61 he could of thouht, oh God is providing this way, 00:21:11.65\00:21:14.71 I could just run,but the officer was yelling for help cause 00:21:14.75\00:21:21.66 he was drowning. 00:21:21.70\00:21:22.92 The reformer thought in his mind: what would Jesus do? 00:21:22.96\00:21:29.20 So he went back, he helped him out of the wather and saved 00:21:29.24\00:21:34.41 his life and by that time other soldiers had come 00:21:34.44\00:21:39.41 and they arrested him and he ended up beeing back in prison 00:21:39.45\00:21:44.97 and burned at the stake. 00:21:45.00\00:21:46.89 As a result of this, this story got told and then Holland made 00:21:46.93\00:21:53.52 a law that no one could be persecuted for their faith. 00:21:53.55\00:21:57.85 - Amen, Exactly. We all have to have that faith that whatever 00:21:57.88\00:22:03.62 happens in those kind of situations, as all for our 00:22:03.65\00:22:09.33 benefit in the end and if we truly belive that we all have 00:22:09.37\00:22:13.81 the faith to not care what happens as long as we do what 00:22:13.85\00:22:18.32 we know is right. 00:22:18.36\00:22:19.79 - I heard some people say that you can compromise in that 00:22:19.83\00:22:25.85 kind of situation because the Lord will always forgive you. 00:22:25.89\00:22:28.38 How would you answer that question? 00:22:28.42\00:22:32.04 - If we compromise once is much easier to compromise again, 00:22:32.07\00:22:37.58 just like if we are willing to stand once it will be easier to 00:22:37.61\00:22:41.32 stand again. I think that we need to trust God that we are 00:22:41.35\00:22:45.35 going to get out no matter what happens. 00:22:45.38\00:22:49.18 - Because how do you know once you have done that one 00:22:49.22\00:22:54.37 sin that you're be alive after that? You never know the future, 00:22:54.41\00:22:57.64 you really have no control over it and it's just a big risk 00:22:57.67\00:23:03.45 anybody will take and it's something that we shouldn't do 00:23:03.48\00:23:07.33 if we should be standing ferme. 00:23:07.37\00:23:09.66 - It's a bigger risk to go against God, and to desobey Him 00:23:09.70\00:23:13.38 even it is for a short time, than to stay faithful to Him 00:23:13.42\00:23:17.47 and just let Him deal with the consequences. 00:23:17.51\00:23:20.79 - This is all very good and fine we know that we do all fall, 00:23:20.83\00:23:26.69 we have all fallen and made bad mistakes and are we setting an 00:23:26.79\00:23:34.18 impossible standard, is it possible for us to obey 00:23:34.21\00:23:38.73 in situations like this that are so terrible? 00:23:38.77\00:23:41.74 Can we just expect that we wouldn't 00:23:41.78\00:23:44.17 be able to obey in a situation like that? 00:23:44.20\00:23:46.07 - In Luke, the first chapter, says:"For God, nothing 00:23:46.11\00:23:52.79 shall be impossible." 00:23:52.83\00:23:54.41 - That's right, Amen! 00:23:54.44\00:23:55.48 - What else does the bible say, what text can you share 00:23:55.51\00:23:59.62 that would give me some hope that I really could chose 00:23:59.66\00:24:04.26 the way God wants me to chose in difficult situations? 00:24:04.30\00:24:08.17 - I have one here in Mathew 19:26 and it says: 00:24:08.20\00:24:14.77 "But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, with men this 00:24:14.80\00:24:19.42 is impossible, but with God all things are possible." 00:24:19.45\00:24:22.73 - Amen. 00:24:22.77\00:24:23.74 - There's quite a few verses in the bible that say 00:24:23.75\00:24:25.95 the same thing. 00:24:25.99\00:24:29.88 - That's right. 00:24:29.92\00:24:30.89 - There's another one that says:" I can do all things 00:24:30.90\00:24:34.07 cause Christ is straightening me." 00:24:34.11\00:24:35.91 - Exactly. 00:24:35.94\00:24:36.91 - Looks like you've got one Gareth... 00:24:36.92\00:24:39.21 - Well it was not only a test of his faith to God but also to 00:24:39.25\00:24:47.51 his christian love and not of his phisical strainght but his 00:24:47.55\00:24:52.84 spiritual strainght. 00:24:52.88\00:24:53.89 In second Chorinthians 12:9, he says: 00:24:53.92\00:24:56.95 "He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power 00:24:56.98\00:25:00.36 is made perfect in weakness."" 00:25:00.39\00:25:02.06 - Amen! 00:25:02.10\00:25:03.27 - That's one of my favorite textes, isn't that beautiful? 00:25:03.31\00:25:05.77 When we are thinking that there is a situation coming up that I 00:25:05.80\00:25:13.56 just can't resist, what are we forgeting?
