leading monarch of the world

Nebuchadnezzar at this time.

He is the greatest of all kings.

night he had a dream.

impression upon Nebuchadnezzar.

him he couldn't recall it.

madder Nebuchadnezzar became.

but a bunch of pawns.

Well, you see, Nebuchadnezzar
- when he had gone down

get about 70 of the young men

intelligent young men -

brought back to Babylon

to study there in the courts

to serve in the court
of the king as wise men.

Four of these
young men were special.

Their names were Daniel,

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

They were very, very special.

They had been found
to be ten times wiser

than all the other wise men
of Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom.

But when Nebuchadnezzar
called in his wise men

he didn't call them in

because they were
young, they were novices.

They were just starting. You

you know what they said?

They said: "Well, you
really... you can't do anything

if you're going to be able

got the experience

they said: "Ah,
you're too old. "

Isn't that the way that goes?

didn't bring in these young men.

They were novices;
they were just too young.

Nebuchadnezzar gave the decree

And so they sought Daniel
and his companions to kill them.

Now, Daniel did
something that you and I

need to look at
very, very carefully

because Daniel asked if
he could have time to pray.

the Christian life as prayer.

had seen in his dream.

her those seven hanging gardens

great wonders of the world.

The city was huge.

The walls around the city
of Babylon were thick enough

that you could race
two chariots side by side

around the top of the wall.

The city was looked upon as
being impossible to overthrow.

They could close
the gates to the city

and historians tell
us they had enough food

Nebuchadnezzar a vision

Nebuchadnezzar
had built that city,

and he never wanted that
city ever to come to an end.

In fact, as they have done
excavations over in Babylon

they found a tablet
like this with writing on it.

This is what that
tablet said, folks.

Nebuchadnezzar didn't
want that city to ever end.
