Have you ever wondered how to prepare 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.70 healthy, tasty meals raw and cooked 00:00:02.73\00:00:05.43 that actually tastes good? 00:00:05.47\00:00:07.44 Well, stay tuned while Evita Tezeno 00:00:07.47\00:00:09.27 and yours truly Nyse Collins show you how to do so 00:00:09.30\00:00:12.11 and give you A Taste of Paradise. 00:00:12.14\00:00:15.64 Welcome to A Taste of Paradise. 00:00:31.73\00:00:33.76 My name is Evita Tezeno. 00:00:33.80\00:00:36.23 This season we have holiday recipes 00:00:36.26\00:00:40.14 to tantalize your taste buds and to grace your table. 00:00:40.17\00:00:44.44 And yes, 00:00:44.47\00:00:45.81 we will be doing recipes from my southern heritage, 00:00:45.84\00:00:50.08 yes, from the south. 00:00:50.11\00:00:52.08 The first one we're gonna do is Dirty Rice. 00:00:52.11\00:00:56.85 I grew up with a grandmother that love to cook 00:00:56.89\00:01:01.59 and every holiday season 00:01:01.62\00:01:03.76 she would make this fabulous dirty rice dish. 00:01:03.79\00:01:06.66 Most of you probably from the north you would say, 00:01:06.70\00:01:08.83 "Maybe a rice dressing", but we called it dirty rice. 00:01:08.86\00:01:13.07 So I said, "Okay, how could I change a recipe to raw." 00:01:13.10\00:01:19.04 And I did it, 00:01:19.07\00:01:20.41 I came up with a fabulous recipe 00:01:20.44\00:01:23.18 that all the ingredients are raw, 00:01:23.21\00:01:25.01 maybe one of them might not be completely raw 00:01:25.05\00:01:29.02 but it is delicious. 00:01:29.05\00:01:31.99 So let's begin by reading the recipe. 00:01:32.02\00:01:37.19 The ingredients for dirty rice are: 00:01:37.23\00:01:40.26 So our rice and the dirty rice starts with cauliflower. 00:02:32.68\00:02:38.85 And cauliflower has so many benefits. 00:02:38.89\00:02:41.99 It's antioxidant, it's high in vitamin C, 00:02:42.02\00:02:46.59 it's a detoxifying vegetable, it's amazing. 00:02:46.63\00:02:52.00 So we're just gonna chop it up a little bit 00:02:52.03\00:02:54.24 so we can help it breakdown a little easier 00:02:54.27\00:02:59.47 in the food processor. 00:02:59.51\00:03:03.58 And as a child I didn't like cauliflower 00:03:03.61\00:03:06.51 but when I changed my diet 00:03:06.55\00:03:09.45 I love cauliflower. 00:03:09.48\00:03:13.79 And if you remember a couple of programs, 00:03:13.82\00:03:18.16 I have done several things with cauliflower, 00:03:18.19\00:03:21.36 I have made several rice dishes with cauliflower, 00:03:21.40\00:03:25.73 so it is a very nice recipe that you could... 00:03:25.77\00:03:31.17 ingredient that you could substitute for rice 00:03:31.21\00:03:34.21 in your raw dishes. 00:03:34.24\00:03:37.15 So we're gonna place these in the food processor... 00:03:37.18\00:03:40.22 and we're gonna pulse it. 00:03:45.49\00:03:46.82 You don't want to process it too much 00:03:46.86\00:03:49.82 because you don't want it to turn to mush. 00:03:49.86\00:03:51.99 You want it to be thinly, not thinly, 00:03:52.03\00:03:56.00 but you want it to be almost like rice 00:03:56.03\00:03:58.20 because this is cereal rice. 00:03:58.23\00:03:59.57 So that's what it's supposed to look like. 00:04:17.55\00:04:21.82 And look, it really looks like rice, 00:04:25.73\00:04:28.23 it has the texture of rice. 00:04:28.26\00:04:30.23 So now, 00:04:36.30\00:04:40.08 and we don't have to worry 00:04:40.11\00:04:41.44 about cleaning out the food processor 00:04:41.48\00:04:43.95 because all of it is gonna be mixed in together. 00:04:43.98\00:04:46.48 So we're going to make our sausage now, 00:04:46.51\00:04:50.42 because most dressings have a sausage in them, 00:04:50.45\00:04:54.06 some type of a meat, 00:04:54.09\00:04:55.59 so we're gonna make our sausage from walnuts, 00:04:55.62\00:04:58.89 and walnuts is amazing, 00:04:58.93\00:05:00.60 it's a brain food 'cause it looks like the brain 00:05:00.63\00:05:03.67 so it helps with the cognitive skills 00:05:03.70\00:05:05.80 of the brain 00:05:05.83\00:05:07.17 so eat a lot of walnuts. 00:05:07.20\00:05:11.07 And then we're going to mix in some sun-dried tomatoes, 00:05:11.11\00:05:16.61 and make sure your sun-dried tomatoes is not packed in oil, 00:05:16.64\00:05:22.02 these were just dried, these are not packed in oil, 00:05:22.05\00:05:26.96 and these were soaked overnight. 00:05:26.99\00:05:29.62 And then I have my savory ingredients which is sage, 00:05:29.66\00:05:34.00 I have basil, I have garlic powder, 00:05:34.03\00:05:39.93 and I have salt, 00:05:39.97\00:05:41.54 you could use sea salt 00:05:41.57\00:05:42.97 but I'm using today, I'm using Himalayan salt. 00:05:43.00\00:05:46.14 And I love the taste of it 00:05:46.17\00:05:48.18 and it's high in mineral content 00:05:48.21\00:05:50.48 so I'm using that type of salt today. 00:05:50.51\00:05:54.32 And for the kick, I have a little cayenne pepper. 00:05:54.35\00:05:58.09 Now this one you want to really mix real thoroughly 00:06:21.18\00:06:24.15 because you don't want it to be chunky, 00:06:24.18\00:06:26.85 you want it like a smooth consistency 00:06:26.88\00:06:28.82 almost like a pate. 00:06:28.85\00:06:30.19 So then, you take these in, 00:06:33.36\00:06:36.09 this wonderful sausage pâté, 00:06:36.12\00:06:40.20 walnut sausage pâté, 00:06:40.23\00:06:43.80 and you mix it into your cauliflower rice. 00:06:43.83\00:06:47.14 Move it to the side. 00:06:56.48\00:06:58.15 Okay, you want to mix this in thoroughly 00:06:58.18\00:07:01.48 by just... 00:07:01.52\00:07:06.05 just kind of cutting it in so it's all incorporated. 00:07:06.09\00:07:09.89 This is a really, really quick dish. 00:07:15.26\00:07:20.00 It doesn't take a lot of work. 00:07:20.04\00:07:22.74 So next we have our smoked paprika, 00:07:25.81\00:07:32.71 our olive oil... 00:07:32.75\00:07:34.08 our liquid aminos... 00:07:38.45\00:07:40.26 and paprika. 00:07:44.13\00:07:45.83 Chop our garlic cloves 00:07:54.07\00:07:58.87 and you wanna chop them relatively confine. 00:07:58.91\00:08:03.11 Oh, and I said paprika, I repeated myself, 00:08:07.88\00:08:10.92 it was cayenne pepper another little bit of cayenne pepper. 00:08:10.95\00:08:14.36 So you wanna mix that up. 00:08:20.90\00:08:23.60 And now we have our fresh ingredients 00:08:32.27\00:08:36.64 which is our celery. 00:08:36.68\00:08:38.08 And if you know... 00:08:38.11\00:08:39.88 celery looks like a bone 00:08:39.91\00:08:41.58 and it's so good for the bones in your body. 00:08:41.62\00:08:46.79 It is wonderful and it has minerals 00:08:46.82\00:08:49.96 that will strengthen your joints. 00:08:49.99\00:08:53.63 So I eat a lot of celery also I juice celery. 00:08:53.66\00:08:57.00 Green onions 00:09:02.27\00:09:03.81 'cause you don't want a strong onion flavor in the dressing 00:09:03.84\00:09:09.68 so I'm using green onions because it's a lighter onion. 00:09:09.71\00:09:13.08 And we have parsley 00:09:18.42\00:09:21.12 and we must incorporate greens in our diet everyday. 00:09:21.16\00:09:26.83 So I like to put a lot of green vegetables and herbs 00:09:26.86\00:09:30.87 in my dishes. 00:09:30.90\00:09:34.37 Red bell pepper which is again high in vitamin C. 00:09:34.40\00:09:37.77 And we incorporate 00:09:46.92\00:09:48.48 all of these wonderful ingredients. 00:09:48.52\00:09:54.49 Look how pretty it is, it is definitively festive. 00:09:54.52\00:09:57.69 So let's get ready to serve it. 00:10:02.63\00:10:04.90 It's another fabulous recipe from Evita Tezeno 00:10:21.82\00:10:25.22 and the Taste of Paradise, 00:10:25.25\00:10:27.16 and remember to live life fresh. 00:10:27.19\00:10:30.63 Welcome back Taste of Paradise special holiday edition. 00:10:46.24\00:10:49.78 I hope you all will enjoy. 00:10:49.81\00:10:51.31 You've seen Evita making some delicious meals 00:10:51.35\00:10:53.52 and you know a holiday in a holiday 00:10:53.55\00:10:55.55 would also cook meals, 00:10:55.58\00:10:56.92 don't tell Evita I said that. 00:10:56.95\00:10:58.29 Anyway, we want to have a special time this year 00:10:58.32\00:11:02.22 with some delicious recipes and... 00:11:02.26\00:11:04.96 but me in my house we live everyday like a holiday 00:11:04.99\00:11:08.13 because to be honest 00:11:08.16\00:11:09.53 tomorrow is never promised for you. 00:11:09.56\00:11:11.43 So I remember sometimes we would get around the table, 00:11:11.47\00:11:13.94 it'll be just a random day 00:11:13.97\00:11:15.80 and just make good food and just enjoy each other 00:11:15.84\00:11:19.17 because you never know what could happen. 00:11:19.21\00:11:21.44 And so I want to encourage everybody 00:11:21.48\00:11:22.81 to live everyday like a holiday 00:11:22.84\00:11:24.18 but when the holidays come make it little extra special. 00:11:24.21\00:11:26.82 And when I think of holidays, 00:11:26.85\00:11:28.18 you think of the food, the family, the friends 00:11:28.22\00:11:29.62 but you think of grandma, 00:11:29.65\00:11:30.99 grandma always making something out of the box 00:11:31.02\00:11:33.86 doing something crazy, you know what I mean 00:11:33.89\00:11:36.79 and for some reason it tasted good, you know. 00:11:36.83\00:11:40.43 You didn't know what it was, 00:11:40.46\00:11:41.80 you would've eaten it like, "What is this?" 00:11:41.83\00:11:43.26 But you couldn't stop because it was so good. 00:11:43.30\00:11:45.70 So we wanted to bring back by special popular demand 00:11:45.73\00:11:49.67 grandma's hearty loaf, holiday loaf. 00:11:49.70\00:11:53.17 You know, she put everything in it 00:11:53.21\00:11:54.94 that was like almost bad in the first, 00:11:54.98\00:11:56.71 like, I said almost not bad, 00:11:56.75\00:11:58.08 so I don't want to get spanked by any grandmas around, 00:11:58.11\00:12:00.38 but she put everything in it and it always tasted good. 00:12:00.42\00:12:02.98 So for our special holiday kick-off, 00:12:03.02\00:12:04.99 we're gonna make grandma, 00:12:05.02\00:12:07.56 we're gonna give a tribute to grandma 00:12:07.59\00:12:09.39 because she always made the best holiday loaf. 00:12:09.42\00:12:12.09 We never knew what the recipe was 00:12:12.13\00:12:13.73 so we almost had to go in there and see what she was doing. 00:12:13.76\00:12:17.07 And one time the food tasted so good 00:12:17.10\00:12:19.53 that my uncle said, "Grandma, did you put your foot in it?" 00:12:19.57\00:12:24.41 And I'm like, "What in a world," 00:12:24.44\00:12:25.91 and that was just a saying that they had, 00:12:25.94\00:12:27.64 but it would tasted so good. 00:12:27.68\00:12:29.91 So we snuck in 00:12:29.94\00:12:31.51 and grab one or two of those ingredients and those recipes 00:12:31.55\00:12:34.88 and today you will have the opportunity to learn 00:12:34.92\00:12:37.12 how to make grandma's hearty holiday loaf. 00:12:37.15\00:12:41.36 So here's the simple recipe for grandma's hearty holiday loaf. 00:12:41.39\00:12:45.16 And ingredients are: 00:12:45.19\00:12:46.53 And just a couple more 00:13:22.46\00:13:23.80 'cause, you know, grandma throws everything in it. 00:13:23.83\00:13:25.37 There it is. 00:13:44.39\00:13:45.72 I told you the thing was hearty 00:13:45.75\00:13:47.16 and I told you that grandma put almost everything in it. 00:13:47.19\00:13:50.26 We used to make this joke in our home 00:13:50.29\00:13:51.99 that anytime she grinds stuff 00:13:52.03\00:13:54.10 or do things that you can't quite tell 00:13:54.13\00:13:56.20 what it was in its original form, 00:13:56.23\00:13:57.93 more than likely it was almost pretty bad. 00:13:57.97\00:13:59.93 So but I'm sure the nuts and stuff 00:13:59.97\00:14:02.20 in general won't go back. 00:14:02.24\00:14:03.61 But that bread 00:14:03.64\00:14:05.41 you know how they'll be cutting out the moldy pieces and stuff. 00:14:05.44\00:14:07.74 I'm like, "Grandma and ma, let it go, please let it go. 00:14:07.78\00:14:11.51 That goes back into the garden." 00:14:11.55\00:14:12.88 But anyway, this loaf we didn't do that for you. 00:14:12.91\00:14:15.62 We went ahead and we got everything nice and fresh. 00:14:15.65\00:14:18.15 And one of the key ingredients 00:14:18.19\00:14:19.62 that's gonna get your loaf going is this potato, 00:14:19.65\00:14:22.12 and so what you have to do is grate the potato. 00:14:22.16\00:14:24.26 But potatoes are so good for you, 00:14:24.29\00:14:26.46 this is gonna give this loaf some good consistency. 00:14:26.49\00:14:30.00 There it's gonna make it... 00:14:30.03\00:14:32.43 If you guys remember like a holiday loaves or those, 00:14:32.47\00:14:37.04 you know, those veggie loaves that they make 00:14:37.07\00:14:38.51 and they taste real good 00:14:38.54\00:14:39.87 when they got all kind of stuff in it 00:14:39.91\00:14:41.24 some eggs and milk and all of this other things 00:14:41.28\00:14:44.25 and like a million ingredients. 00:14:44.28\00:14:45.88 Well, this is gonna give it that similar consistency. 00:14:45.91\00:14:49.55 So you wanna make sure you grate that in there nicely. 00:14:49.58\00:14:52.79 What else are the potatoes good for? 00:14:52.82\00:14:54.16 It's one of the best things to balance acid in the stomach, 00:14:54.19\00:14:56.99 a lot of people are suffering with acid reflux. 00:14:57.03\00:14:59.79 Enjoy some more potatoes. 00:14:59.83\00:15:01.56 The only thing I don't like is my potatoes get the bad rap, 00:15:01.60\00:15:05.23 you know what I mean, "Oh, potatoes is no good, 00:15:05.27\00:15:07.54 it's gonna raise your blood sugar, 00:15:07.57\00:15:08.97 blah, blah, blah." 00:15:09.00\00:15:10.41 That is not true per say. 00:15:10.44\00:15:13.17 Now what happens is the potato is good 00:15:13.21\00:15:15.51 is what we do for the potato. 00:15:15.54\00:15:18.51 Potatoes are healthy in stuff then we cut, we bake it, 00:15:18.55\00:15:22.08 we cut it up, we slap in the whole bunch of butter, 00:15:22.12\00:15:25.55 then we throw some cheese on top of it, 00:15:25.59\00:15:27.86 then we do some baking, I mean veggie baking bits, 00:15:27.89\00:15:31.19 you know what I am talking about. 00:15:31.23\00:15:32.56 Or we just chop it up and we deep-fry it 00:15:32.59\00:15:35.23 and then when we fry, we add more cheese on top. 00:15:35.26\00:15:38.43 Like I'm very tired, 00:15:38.47\00:15:39.80 I'm afraid of potatoes if I keep talking about it, 00:15:39.83\00:15:41.44 but potatoes are good in its natural form 00:15:41.47\00:15:44.51 is what you do to the potato that's bad. 00:15:44.54\00:15:46.91 Actually for diabetics it's good for them 00:15:46.94\00:15:49.98 because it balances their carbohydrates and the glucose 00:15:50.01\00:15:54.45 from going too high. 00:15:54.48\00:15:56.18 But now I'm not talking about, you know, the mash potatoes 00:15:56.22\00:15:59.75 with the butter and all that other stuff in it. 00:15:59.79\00:16:02.12 So please, enjoy the potatoes 00:16:02.16\00:16:03.93 but of course make sure you let your doctor know 00:16:03.96\00:16:05.89 what you're doing and work along with it. 00:16:05.93\00:16:08.10 Walla, potatoes are done. 00:16:08.13\00:16:10.47 Oh, I forgot to tell you what else they use potatoes for, 00:16:10.50\00:16:12.90 you're gonna be upset. 00:16:12.93\00:16:14.27 You're like, "This is holidays, 00:16:14.30\00:16:15.64 don't be talking about that stuff." 00:16:15.67\00:16:17.01 Do you know, I'll tell you quietly. 00:16:17.04\00:16:19.14 A person that may have hemorrhage, right, 00:16:19.17\00:16:21.34 but sometimes when natural remedy that they would do 00:16:21.38\00:16:23.95 is they'll take a potato, tell nobody, be quiet. 00:16:23.98\00:16:26.95 They'll take a potato 00:16:26.98\00:16:28.32 and they'll cut it like a French fry, right, 00:16:28.35\00:16:29.75 and they put a little extra lubricant 00:16:29.78\00:16:31.45 or something like that on top of it 00:16:31.49\00:16:33.22 and then they say a prayer 00:16:33.25\00:16:34.59 because healing only comes from God. 00:16:34.62\00:16:36.96 Yeah, and that's what they do. 00:16:36.99\00:16:38.86 They take that potato and they take a deep breath 00:16:38.89\00:16:42.70 and they go, "Hallelujah" and they put it there 00:16:42.73\00:16:45.10 and, you know, I'm just telling you all 00:16:45.13\00:16:46.47 because you're gonna be talking about this stuff 00:16:46.50\00:16:47.84 with your doctor, 00:16:47.87\00:16:49.20 and they put it you know, up in that area there 00:16:49.24\00:16:50.57 where the hemorrhoids are. 00:16:50.61\00:16:51.94 And then, you know what happens 00:16:51.97\00:16:53.84 they go to sleep and it helps to heal that 00:16:53.88\00:16:56.34 but the problem with those problems in those areas 00:16:56.38\00:16:58.88 is people are using too much spicy foods. 00:16:58.91\00:17:01.58 Stay off for the peppers and all of that stuff, 00:17:01.62\00:17:03.79 especially during the holidays. 00:17:03.82\00:17:05.45 I know you all, you don't wanna talk about that 00:17:05.49\00:17:06.89 but we got to talk about it either now or later 00:17:06.92\00:17:08.92 'cause your doctor will be talking about that stuff. 00:17:08.96\00:17:10.89 So what do they use? 00:17:10.93\00:17:12.26 They use potatoes for that as well. 00:17:12.29\00:17:14.86 Now please make sure you understand 00:17:14.90\00:17:17.37 what I am talking about, 00:17:17.40\00:17:18.73 we'll talk about at natural remedy show 00:17:18.77\00:17:20.10 because we're trying to cook here today 00:17:20.14\00:17:21.47 and I'm not talking about seasoned fries 00:17:21.50\00:17:22.84 and all of that other stuff. 00:17:22.87\00:17:24.21 Anyway, so here we go. 00:17:24.24\00:17:25.57 We have your nice potatoes. 00:17:25.61\00:17:30.18 All right, that's your grated potatoes. 00:17:30.21\00:17:33.45 And we're gonna add the rest of the ingredients. 00:17:33.48\00:17:35.62 So what do we have? 00:17:35.65\00:17:36.99 We have the walnuts here, 00:17:37.02\00:17:41.69 you have the breadcrumbs, sunflower seeds. 00:17:41.72\00:17:44.99 I forgot to tell you about the sunflower seeds, 00:17:45.03\00:17:47.56 sunflower seeds is boomed in with vitamin E. 00:17:47.60\00:17:50.73 What do we say, everybody? 00:17:50.77\00:17:52.10 Vitamin, vitamin E is fantastic and loaded with, 00:17:52.13\00:17:55.77 vitamin E is good for the body and matter of fact, 00:17:55.80\00:17:58.41 sunflower seeds are so good for you 00:17:58.44\00:18:00.48 that they can be used as a replacement for meat. 00:18:00.51\00:18:03.14 Now what am I saying, 00:18:03.18\00:18:04.51 because they have so many vitamins and minerals 00:18:04.55\00:18:06.01 and promotes or produces, 00:18:06.05\00:18:08.45 or gives a good amount of calories 00:18:08.48\00:18:10.65 that a person who removes meat out of their diet 00:18:10.69\00:18:13.19 and start using some sunflower seeds, 00:18:13.22\00:18:15.16 it balances them out nicely 00:18:15.19\00:18:17.39 so you can enjoy sunflower seeds. 00:18:17.43\00:18:19.29 And matter of fact, they are so good 00:18:19.33\00:18:21.16 that if a person is just eating a regular diet 00:18:21.20\00:18:23.43 and all their foods are fried and cheese and all that stuff, 00:18:23.47\00:18:26.77 and they try to use sunflower seeds 00:18:26.80\00:18:28.94 it will be no good because now they have too much calories, 00:18:28.97\00:18:32.74 too much vitamins, too much minerals. 00:18:32.77\00:18:34.84 But as a person is making that transition 00:18:34.88\00:18:37.81 this is one of the key items for them there. 00:18:37.85\00:18:41.12 So sunflower seeds, if a person is vegetarian 00:18:41.15\00:18:43.32 or following a plant based diet, 00:18:43.35\00:18:44.95 you have no worries 00:18:44.99\00:18:46.32 and when you take a handful of sunflower seeds 00:18:46.35\00:18:47.69 or you have some of the grandmas, what, 00:18:47.72\00:18:49.52 hearty holiday loaf. 00:18:49.56\00:18:51.29 So here is what we're gonna do, 00:18:51.33\00:18:52.66 we're gonna add the rest of the ingredients. 00:18:52.69\00:18:54.03 We have the onions there. 00:18:54.06\00:18:55.96 Let me get something to mix this all up. 00:18:56.00\00:18:58.87 So we have the onions 00:18:58.90\00:19:00.24 and then we have all of these dry ingredients. 00:19:00.27\00:19:02.24 So here's a little tip for everybody. 00:19:02.27\00:19:03.97 I'm going to take these dry ingredients 00:19:04.01\00:19:06.51 and I'm gonna put them 00:19:06.54\00:19:07.88 into larger wet ingredients, all right. 00:19:07.91\00:19:09.94 You all remember this is old school tip. 00:19:09.98\00:19:12.18 Dry ingredients into larger wet ingredients, 00:19:12.21\00:19:14.32 now why are we gonna do that or at least more dry ones? 00:19:14.35\00:19:17.19 So it can get better distribution of it 00:19:17.22\00:19:19.72 'cause if you pour that salt directly into this batter here 00:19:19.75\00:19:25.56 that we're making 00:19:25.59\00:19:26.93 and you don't mix it properly 00:19:26.96\00:19:28.30 is not gonna get even distribution. 00:19:28.33\00:19:30.37 So if we can pour this dry ingredients 00:19:30.40\00:19:32.33 into something that's wet then it will like dissolve 00:19:32.37\00:19:36.00 and it'll be able to spread nicely in our mix. 00:19:36.04\00:19:39.37 So I'm pouring this into the soy milk, almond milk, 00:19:39.41\00:19:42.08 you decide what kind of milk you want to use, 00:19:42.11\00:19:44.78 preferably not from a mother milk 00:19:44.81\00:19:47.08 and such as, cows milk, goats milk, whatever like that. 00:19:47.12\00:19:50.95 But watch this, 00:19:50.99\00:19:52.32 I work in many different areas in the world 00:19:52.35\00:19:54.36 and some people don't have access 00:19:54.39\00:19:55.72 to all of these other items. 00:19:55.76\00:19:57.09 If that's all you have, then bless it and eat it. 00:19:57.13\00:20:00.60 Amen, amen. 00:20:00.63\00:20:01.96 But work with it, 00:20:02.00\00:20:03.33 you can make the nut milks 00:20:03.37\00:20:04.70 as we showed you in many occasions 00:20:04.73\00:20:06.20 from the different nuts, cashews, walnuts 00:20:06.23\00:20:09.60 or whatever like that so you can enjoy that. 00:20:09.64\00:20:11.31 So now I mix all of these ingredients 00:20:11.34\00:20:13.44 into my nut milk or my soy milk 00:20:13.48\00:20:16.54 and now I'm just gonna pour those 00:20:16.58\00:20:20.05 over here, all right? 00:20:20.08\00:20:21.42 So let me get all of that stuff in here. 00:20:21.45\00:20:25.99 This is what grandma was doing while we wasn't watching her. 00:20:26.02\00:20:28.92 She was just mixing stuff, 00:20:28.96\00:20:30.33 she was guest, the maiden doing all of this. 00:20:30.36\00:20:33.16 I had those pre measures 00:20:33.19\00:20:34.53 but when you're in the kitchen, you know, just work with it. 00:20:34.56\00:20:37.93 And once you get the hang of it 00:20:37.97\00:20:39.77 you will be able to just know that right amount, 00:20:39.80\00:20:42.04 just a little bit of salt, just a little bit of that 00:20:42.07\00:20:44.21 and, man, you will be good. 00:20:44.24\00:20:46.01 So watch this, you mix it all up. 00:20:46.04\00:20:48.64 If you all can take a quick look at that, 00:20:48.68\00:20:50.55 I don't know what this thing look like. 00:20:50.58\00:20:52.58 It looks like something 00:20:52.61\00:20:54.52 and grandma she has some ultimate faith 00:20:54.55\00:20:56.72 'cause she will make this probably not knowing 00:20:56.75\00:20:58.75 what is gonna turn out to be like 00:20:58.79\00:21:00.89 but she made it anyway 00:21:00.92\00:21:02.26 and it turned out really, really, good. 00:21:02.29\00:21:05.43 So you mix those items up 00:21:05.46\00:21:09.33 and then we're gonna put that 00:21:09.36\00:21:10.70 in a nice little baking dish, all right. 00:21:10.73\00:21:12.93 So we have that sunflower seeds, 00:21:12.97\00:21:14.47 we have the breadcrumbs, we have the walnuts. 00:21:14.50\00:21:16.87 And look at that, 00:21:16.91\00:21:18.24 because grandma was throwing everything in it, 00:21:18.27\00:21:20.01 it was actually good for you 00:21:20.04\00:21:21.38 'cause walnuts are very good for the what, 00:21:21.41\00:21:23.14 what organ of the body does the walnut look like? 00:21:23.18\00:21:25.18 It looks like the brain. 00:21:25.21\00:21:26.75 So walnuts is good for your brain. 00:21:26.78\00:21:28.78 Who knew a hearty nut loaf 00:21:28.82\00:21:31.05 would also be good for your what, your brain. 00:21:31.09\00:21:33.79 We're gonna put a little bit of oil in there, 00:21:33.82\00:21:37.13 all right. 00:21:37.16\00:21:38.99 Just a little bit, 00:21:39.03\00:21:41.06 just around the edges. 00:21:41.10\00:21:43.06 You all know I don't like to touch oil 00:21:43.10\00:21:46.30 so or you can, 00:21:46.33\00:21:47.67 some people just pray it or something like that. 00:21:47.70\00:21:49.04 So I'm just gonna use a little paper towel 00:21:49.07\00:21:50.87 and make sure I go ahead and grease that out nicely 00:21:50.91\00:21:54.74 and then I'm gonna take the rest, 00:21:54.78\00:21:57.08 I'm gonna pour that in here. 00:21:57.11\00:21:58.45 This is the holiday loaf, this is where it happens, 00:21:58.48\00:22:01.18 this is what sits right there on the middle of the table. 00:22:01.22\00:22:04.75 I mean, I know some people wanna set the turkey and stuff 00:22:04.79\00:22:07.72 or animals. 00:22:07.76\00:22:09.19 Holiday season there you regret it, 00:22:09.22\00:22:11.49 they want to run away but here it is. 00:22:11.53\00:22:13.96 You put that in there 00:22:14.00\00:22:17.53 and you just put it out nicely. 00:22:17.57\00:22:19.77 So after we kind of took this recipe and we did it, 00:22:19.80\00:22:23.20 it was like, "What in the world, 00:22:23.24\00:22:24.57 this thing don't look like anything good. 00:22:24.61\00:22:26.31 How was it gonna turn out?" 00:22:26.34\00:22:27.91 And we just have to have faith, 00:22:27.94\00:22:29.28 if grandma did it, we did it, all right. 00:22:29.31\00:22:31.45 So we take that now, I'm gonna put this in the oven 00:22:31.48\00:22:35.12 and put that above 350, you have to keep a eye on it 00:22:35.15\00:22:37.99 by about 50 minutes, 45 to 50 minutes 00:22:38.02\00:22:40.49 until this is gonna get nice and it's gonna get all firm, 00:22:40.52\00:22:43.16 it's gonna start flexing like this 00:22:43.19\00:22:45.06 then you know it's ready, yeah. 00:22:45.09\00:22:47.10 And so I'm gonna do that and also once it's ready 00:22:47.13\00:22:52.03 because, you know, for the sake of time 00:22:52.07\00:22:53.40 once it's ready, you pull it out, okay. 00:22:53.44\00:22:56.24 Let it cool down a little bit there. 00:22:56.27\00:22:58.91 Once it cools down, are you ready, everybody? 00:22:58.94\00:23:02.04 You take it and you flip it, 00:23:02.08\00:23:04.58 and then I'm gonna share with you 00:23:04.61\00:23:06.41 a special sauce right here real quick. 00:23:06.45\00:23:08.12 So let's go, we're gonna drop this in the oven 00:23:08.15\00:23:11.62 and it should be ready or waiting for us 00:23:11.65\00:23:13.82 and then I have another one here, 00:23:13.86\00:23:16.39 but I'm not gonna pull that yet. 00:23:16.42\00:23:19.03 So I'll put that in there 00:23:19.06\00:23:20.40 and I'm gonna let that go ahead and bake. 00:23:20.43\00:23:23.87 You know, you have to be a little knife thing, 00:23:23.90\00:23:25.67 keep an eye out on it until it's ready to roll. 00:23:25.70\00:23:28.54 Now you remember I told you after it's finished 00:23:28.57\00:23:30.84 you're gonna flip it and put a special sauce on it. 00:23:30.87\00:23:33.68 I went ahead and did this in advance. 00:23:33.71\00:23:35.44 I don't have a recipe for it 00:23:35.48\00:23:37.05 'cause I want you all to start making these recipes yourself 00:23:37.08\00:23:39.81 and try different items on it. 00:23:39.85\00:23:41.62 I don't know if you remember 00:23:41.65\00:23:42.98 long time ago we had a chef, his name was Chew, 00:23:43.02\00:23:45.19 he made a barbechew sauce, 00:23:45.22\00:23:47.32 so I did a little addition. 00:23:47.36\00:23:48.76 And basically, I just took tomato paste 00:23:48.79\00:23:50.89 if you all can take a look at that. 00:23:50.93\00:23:53.36 I just took tomato paste, a little bit of molasses, 00:23:53.40\00:23:56.33 some salt, onion, and garlic powder 00:23:56.36\00:23:58.60 and I just mixed it up 00:23:58.63\00:23:59.97 with a little bit of cane juice crystals 00:24:00.00\00:24:01.90 or even honey if you have. 00:24:01.94\00:24:03.97 And I just mix it up on the stove 00:24:04.01\00:24:05.67 and that just, you know, whipped it up a little bit 00:24:05.71\00:24:07.81 and it came out nice and creamy as you see here. 00:24:07.84\00:24:10.61 You all can take a quick look at that 00:24:10.65\00:24:12.41 that's basically what it looks like. 00:24:12.45\00:24:15.02 So it comes out nice and creamy 00:24:15.05\00:24:16.92 and then you remember, 00:24:16.95\00:24:18.29 I took the loaf, I flipped the loaf 00:24:18.32\00:24:22.16 and I spread it all over the top of the loaf, 00:24:22.19\00:24:24.79 all over the top 00:24:24.83\00:24:26.16 to give it that extra little oomph, you know, 00:24:26.19\00:24:29.23 because I was wondering what grandma put on top of it. 00:24:29.26\00:24:30.97 I was like, "Did she just spray ketchup all over that thing?" 00:24:31.00\00:24:33.60 You know, but she didn't 00:24:33.64\00:24:35.40 and she made probably something like this. 00:24:35.44\00:24:36.94 So I'm gonna go I have another one in there 00:24:36.97\00:24:39.37 that I already made with the special sauce. 00:24:39.41\00:24:43.48 I'm gonna pull it out and we're gonna take a quick look at it. 00:24:43.51\00:24:45.31 So let's head over to the oven here. 00:24:45.35\00:24:47.52 Now this is not too hot, it's not too hot 00:24:55.09\00:24:58.19 but it's a little warm 00:24:58.23\00:24:59.56 'cause I had it in there warming out for everybody. 00:24:59.59\00:25:01.66 And so basically, you have grandmas hearty loaf. 00:25:01.70\00:25:05.67 And now you all looking at that, 00:25:05.70\00:25:07.04 "That thing look like a pizza, 00:25:07.07\00:25:08.84 baked turkey or something like that." 00:25:08.87\00:25:11.64 Or you guys notice some other animal products 00:25:11.67\00:25:14.84 that looks like that, you know what I'm... 00:25:14.88\00:25:16.95 Amen, we ain't gonna talk about those. 00:25:16.98\00:25:18.95 But, man, they look at it and they say, 00:25:18.98\00:25:20.42 "Wow, that looks good." 00:25:20.45\00:25:21.78 So you take that and now it's almost ready. 00:25:21.82\00:25:24.65 But as you know the key, 00:25:24.69\00:25:26.02 the key to holidays and stuff like that 00:25:26.05\00:25:28.66 is laying it out nicely, making it look good, 00:25:28.69\00:25:31.59 you know, people are gonna look at that, 00:25:31.63\00:25:32.96 they probably think it's a big pork something 00:25:32.99\00:25:34.50 or whatever like that 00:25:34.53\00:25:35.86 but y'all know we don't do that on Taste of Paradise. 00:25:35.90\00:25:37.63 And so you take that you set out a bed 00:25:37.67\00:25:41.44 of some nice greens, okay. 00:25:41.47\00:25:44.74 We're gonna set our bed with nice greens. 00:25:44.77\00:25:46.74 I'm gonna transfer that but also I wanna give it 00:25:46.78\00:25:49.94 a little decorations or whatever. 00:25:49.98\00:25:52.71 So while that cools down, 00:25:52.75\00:25:55.15 I'm gonna grab a little sauce pan, 00:25:55.18\00:25:56.62 I know this is not on the recipe. 00:25:56.65\00:25:58.69 You all are like, "What is he doing now? 00:25:58.72\00:26:00.19 We don't know." 00:26:00.22\00:26:01.56 So basically, you want to either sauté 00:26:01.59\00:26:03.99 some asparagus, some red, 00:26:04.03\00:26:08.76 you know, orange, yellow bell peppers 00:26:08.80\00:26:11.57 to go along with that 00:26:11.60\00:26:13.00 and then you can decorate it nicely. 00:26:13.03\00:26:14.70 I already did some of those 00:26:14.74\00:26:16.07 but I'm gonna make another batch 00:26:16.10\00:26:17.44 for the other one that just went in there. 00:26:17.47\00:26:18.81 So let me transfer this, 00:26:18.84\00:26:22.14 all 00:26:29.68\00:26:32.19 We're gonna transfer this all together. 00:26:32.22\00:26:37.83 Almost look like we're bringing out 00:26:37.86\00:26:39.66 the fat and pig here or something, 00:26:39.69\00:26:41.93 and so you lay it there nicely. 00:26:41.96\00:26:44.67 This just take a little while 00:26:44.70\00:26:46.03 so let me see that that gets rolling. 00:26:46.07\00:26:47.80 I
