Welcome to a Taste of Paradise. 00:00:15.29\00:00:17.11 My name is Evita Tezeno and I am from the south 00:00:17.14\00:00:21.90 and we just love banana pudding. 00:00:21.93\00:00:25.35 We eat sleep and drink banana pudding. 00:00:25.38\00:00:28.35 But when I became to eat healthier, 00:00:28.38\00:00:31.70 I look at the ingredients and I said, not so healthy. 00:00:31.73\00:00:36.83 So I came up with a fabulous recipe 00:00:36.86\00:00:40.04 that's not only healthy and nutritious 00:00:40.07\00:00:44.15 but it's also delicious. 00:00:44.18\00:00:47.57 Honey, you could take this to any, any social gathering 00:00:47.60\00:00:52.02 and people will, ooh and ah and say, oh, you are best. 00:00:52.05\00:00:56.51 Because you know, people love banana pudding. 00:00:56.54\00:00:59.06 So let's look at ingredients 00:00:59.09\00:01:01.09 and let's show how healthy it is. 00:01:01.12\00:01:03.95 So you know, in all banana pudding recipes 00:01:49.18\00:01:53.16 they have the little cookies-- The little cookies in there. 00:01:53.19\00:01:57.23 So we're gonna make all kind of cookies with a twist, 00:01:57.26\00:02:00.90 this is a crust-- like almond crusty cookie 00:02:00.93\00:02:05.63 kind of mixture that I am making. 00:02:05.66\00:02:08.44 So we start off with our almonds. 00:02:08.47\00:02:11.53 And we want to blend them little bit, 00:02:15.73\00:02:18.19 so we can chop them up a little bit. 00:02:18.22\00:02:20.91 So we just want to pull some 00:02:27.64\00:02:29.09 so we could break them up little bit. 00:02:29.12\00:02:30.38 Then we have our medjool dates 00:02:30.41\00:02:32.03 and you know, that I said 00:02:32.06\00:02:33.47 that medjool dates are my date of choice 00:02:33.50\00:02:36.73 because they are soft and they sweeter. 00:02:36.76\00:02:39.65 And if you are using any other kind of date 00:02:39.68\00:02:42.86 you might want to soak them 00:02:42.89\00:02:44.20 and kind of rinse them a little bit 00:02:44.23\00:02:45.59 because some of them tend to be 00:02:45.62\00:02:47.13 a little harder then the medjool. 00:02:47.16\00:02:52.24 And we have your sea salt. 00:02:52.27\00:02:54.17 And your vanilla extract 00:02:56.11\00:02:57.21 and make sure that you read 00:02:57.24\00:02:58.72 your labels on the vanilla extract 00:02:58.75\00:03:00.70 and make sure that there is no alcohol in there. 00:03:00.73\00:03:05.67 And then we have our coconut oil. 00:03:05.70\00:03:11.76 Coconut oil is very good for the brain. 00:03:11.79\00:03:15.68 Good brain food. 00:03:15.71\00:03:17.55 And we want to-- 00:03:24.27\00:03:25.44 Now depending on how nutty you want it 00:03:49.55\00:03:53.81 I like mines a little fine 00:03:53.84\00:03:55.23 to resemble like crumbled up cookies, 00:03:55.26\00:03:58.55 so this is the cookie in our banana pudding. 00:03:58.58\00:04:06.46 So let me get all of the stuff out of the way. 00:04:06.49\00:04:09.64 And now we're gonna make our pudding. 00:04:12.44\00:04:14.76 So we're gonna start up with almond milk 00:04:18.74\00:04:20.33 and I make my own almond milk 00:04:20.36\00:04:22.47 by soaking a cup of almonds in three-- 00:04:22.50\00:04:27.40 and then blending them in three cups of water 00:04:27.43\00:04:30.87 and then using a nut milk bag and then making the milk. 00:04:30.90\00:04:34.98 So if you don't have a nut milk bag 00:04:36.46\00:04:38.97 or if you don't want to make your almond milk, 00:04:39.00\00:04:41.66 you can buy almond milk in your grocery store. 00:04:41.69\00:04:45.23 And I have the vanilla extract. 00:04:46.89\00:04:50.18 And turmeric just to color it, 00:04:51.23\00:04:53.57 it's just to make it a little, a little yellow color 00:04:53.60\00:04:57.70 because you know, when you have banana pudding 00:04:57.73\00:04:59.48 the pudding is little yellow, we have our dates. 00:04:59.51\00:05:02.41 And we're using chia seed, 00:05:05.22\00:05:06.72 chia seed is an excellent thickener. 00:05:06.75\00:05:09.03 So that's why we're using the chia seed. 00:05:09.06\00:05:11.31 It's also very hydrating and it's also high in protein. 00:05:11.34\00:05:15.02 Almond butter. 00:05:17.07\00:05:18.18 And there is raw almond butter, 00:05:21.94\00:05:24.01 it tends to be a little expensive, 00:05:24.04\00:05:26.14 so if you want to get the almond butter 00:05:26.17\00:05:28.66 that's not raw, it's okay. 00:05:28.69\00:05:30.71 Whatever is easier for you. 00:05:32.91\00:05:35.20 And then we have our coconut oil 00:05:35.23\00:05:37.68 and this also thickness the pudding as well. 00:05:37.71\00:05:41.73 And I like to add little pinch of salt 00:05:49.58\00:05:52.38 and then our bananas. 00:05:54.66\00:05:56.80 So you know, alone without putting this as a pudding, 00:06:00.29\00:06:05.32 this is a great smoothie recipe as well. 00:06:05.35\00:06:07.92 I want to eat this now because it's so delicious, 00:06:52.34\00:06:55.29 it's just fabulous but I must wait. 00:06:55.32\00:06:59.40 Okay, so you get your pan. 00:07:01.89\00:07:04.09 And you take your crust or your cookies, 00:07:10.98\00:07:14.16 your crumbled cookies and place at the bottom. 00:07:14.19\00:07:19.82 And you can use any kind of pan you want, 00:07:19.85\00:07:22.01 you could you a Pyrex dish 00:07:22.04\00:07:25.27 or if you have something fancy you can. 00:07:25.30\00:07:28.94 And then you cut up your bananas. 00:07:28.97\00:07:33.92 And this one is a little too ripe. 00:07:36.03\00:07:38.78 But you're going to cut your bananas up. 00:07:40.02\00:07:42.09 And the-- the more spotted the banana the sweeter it is, 00:07:58.21\00:08:03.78 you don't want to use green bananas 00:08:03.81\00:08:05.89 because they will not be sweet. 00:08:05.92\00:08:08.18 And you know, banana pudding isn't banana pudding 00:08:08.21\00:08:12.14 if it's not sweet. 00:08:12.17\00:08:13.76 So we want a sweet banana pudding. 00:08:13.79\00:08:16.61 And depending on how many bananas you want in your layer 00:08:16.64\00:08:22.28 you could load it up or you could just put it sparely. 00:08:22.31\00:08:27.20 So then you want to pour the banana pudding. 00:08:31.10\00:08:34.07 And this one is a layered banana pudding, 00:08:41.45\00:08:46.03 because you want to do several layers. 00:08:46.06\00:08:48.09 So then you take some more 00:08:49.75\00:08:52.18 of the almond cookie crust recipe and layer it. 00:08:52.21\00:09:00.12 And you just repeat. 00:09:00.15\00:09:02.66 And because I like to do thing fancy, 00:09:05.28\00:09:08.97 I made it in a special container. 00:09:09.00\00:09:12.76 Look at this. 00:09:17.80\00:09:19.31 Now this would even put my grandmamma to shame. 00:09:20.48\00:09:23.39 Because look at this, isn't this beautiful? 00:09:23.42\00:09:26.30 It is fabulous, I can't wait to dig into this. 00:09:26.33\00:09:31.54 It's fresh, it's fabulous and it is delicious. 00:09:31.57\00:09:35.60 Look at it. 00:09:35.63\00:09:36.66 And it smells amazing. 00:09:38.05\00:09:41.00 Okay, I've done it again, another fantastic recipe 00:09:41.03\00:09:45.64 from the kitchen of Taste of Paradise. 00:09:45.67\00:09:48.75 And you know what I always say at the end, 00:09:48.78\00:09:51.73 remember to live life fresh. 00:09:51.76\00:09:55.06 Welcome back. 00:10:01.23\00:10:02.32 We're here, we're gonna look 00:10:02.35\00:10:03.39 at some of the key items here in preparing a simple meal. 00:10:03.42\00:10:08.33 But even before preparing a simple meal 00:10:08.36\00:10:10.17 we have to look at what is-- 00:10:10.20\00:10:11.99 where is this stuff coming from? 00:10:12.02\00:10:13.24 There is a big controversy of GMOs and what's organic, 00:10:13.27\00:10:17.29 what's not organic and all of these things. 00:10:17.32\00:10:19.84 Every time I do programs everybody is asking, what-- 00:10:19.87\00:10:22.90 Is this good or is that not good 00:10:22.93\00:10:25.27 or the food and the fruits and stuff that we buy is 00:10:25.30\00:10:28.29 you know, is it good? 00:10:28.32\00:10:29.91 they are adding chemicals to it they are messing with it 00:10:29.94\00:10:32.38 and they're doing all of these things. 00:10:32.41\00:10:33.90 Now I say it's real simple to answer all of these questions 00:10:33.93\00:10:36.81 because I can't keep up with-- 00:10:36.84\00:10:38.84 I mean, these days they're mixing 00:10:38.87\00:10:40.83 tomatoes with different species 00:10:40.86\00:10:43.38 and they are adding this and cutting that 00:10:43.41\00:10:45.99 and doing all of these things 00:10:46.02\00:10:47.15 with the genetics of these fruits, these vegetables 00:10:47.18\00:10:51.44 and who knows now soon or later 00:10:51.47\00:10:53.12 with may be animals or something of that nature. 00:10:53.15\00:10:55.48 So I can't keep up because it's always changing. 00:10:55.51\00:10:58.32 But there is one thing I know is I will keep simple 00:10:58.35\00:11:00.84 and I will stick to what was written, 00:11:00.87\00:11:03.37 what the Bible says is good for us. 00:11:03.40\00:11:05.86 And it says that there are fruits that are good for us. 00:11:05.89\00:11:08.42 If something bears a seed it is considered fruit 00:11:08.45\00:11:11.19 and then you have the herbs or the veggies 00:11:11.22\00:11:14.07 which is good for you as well. 00:11:14.10\00:11:15.48 So all of these are there, so I just stick to that. 00:11:15.51\00:11:18.23 So now when I see something that used to have a seed 00:11:18.26\00:11:22.63 not have a seed anymore, what am I going to do? 00:11:22.66\00:11:25.26 I am gonna probably stay away from that. 00:11:25.29\00:11:26.72 I will give you one quick example, 00:11:26.75\00:11:28.38 one of them in particular is probably like grapes. 00:11:28.41\00:11:31.43 You remember back in the days grapes always had what? 00:11:31.46\00:11:34.49 They always had general seeds, 00:11:34.52\00:11:36.26 I mean, even though seedless grapes 00:11:36.29\00:11:37.39 have been around for a long time. 00:11:37.42\00:11:38.87 So now when I see a seedless item I stay away from it. 00:11:38.90\00:11:42.15 Let's look at another one some of our favorites, watermelon. 00:11:42.18\00:11:45.38 Everybody loves watermelon but I guess 00:11:45.41\00:11:47.25 out of convenience or whatever the reason is, 00:11:47.28\00:11:50.26 now they have seedless watermelon 00:11:50.29\00:11:52.24 and they see over three quarter of watermelon now. 00:11:52.27\00:11:55.79 In our country it doesn't even have a seed anymore? 00:11:55.82\00:12:00.23 So I am like wait a second, watch out for that. 00:12:00.26\00:12:02.64 And especially with the grape seeds, 00:12:02.67\00:12:04.24 I only buy grapes in general that have what? 00:12:04.27\00:12:07.49 A seed and you know why I do that? 00:12:07.52\00:12:09.37 Because next you know in a couple of months 00:12:09.40\00:12:11.15 new study shows grape seed extract is good for you. 00:12:11.18\00:12:14.52 Well, I don't have to buy 00:12:14.55\00:12:16.10 that grape seed extract anymore, why? 00:12:16.13\00:12:17.60 'Cause the seed or the grape that I bought 00:12:17.63\00:12:19.61 always had a what in it? 00:12:19.64\00:12:20.89 A seed but if you notice more and more 00:12:20.92\00:12:23.08 these things are slowly but surely 00:12:23.11\00:12:25.27 becoming very hard to find. 00:12:25.30\00:12:27.64 So keep it very simply, your veggies, 00:12:27.67\00:12:29.59 if they look too big stay away from it, 00:12:29.62\00:12:31.92 too small and cute and bites eyes 00:12:31.95\00:12:34.05 probably stay away from that as well. 00:12:34.08\00:12:35.51 Just get your regular veggies the way it was 00:12:35.54\00:12:38.41 I can say probably intended. 00:12:38.44\00:12:40.97 So now you don't have to worry about 00:12:41.00\00:12:43.01 who's doing what to this or who's doing what to that. 00:12:43.04\00:12:45.68 Why, because you are doing it yourself. 00:12:45.71\00:12:48.58 And what I mean by doing it yourself? 00:12:48.61\00:12:50.32 Today, I know we talk about simple meal 00:12:50.35\00:12:52.75 but today we're go from the garden to the plate. 00:12:52.78\00:12:56.08 Why do you not have to question these things? 00:12:56.11\00:12:57.69 Because we're going to grow them ourselves, 00:12:57.72\00:13:00.14 gardening one on one right here 00:13:00.17\00:13:02.56 and a lot of times people say, well, I live in the city 00:13:02.59\00:13:05.04 or I do this and I don't have a farm. 00:13:05.07\00:13:06.97 There is no excuse. 00:13:07.00\00:13:08.66 Why?
