Me too... 00:00:32.23\00:00:36.40 Well, some of the things about turning raw was 00:00:36.43\00:00:39.57 how was I going to give up pasta since I love it so much. 00:00:39.60\00:00:43.64 Well today's recipe is "fiesta zucchini pasta 00:00:43.67\00:00:47.41 with raw marinara sauce." 00:00:47.44\00:00:49.08 So let's talk about what the ingredients are... 00:00:49.11\00:00:52.68 We'll be using the following: 00:00:52.71\00:00:55.65 So let's begin... 00:01:14.34\00:01:21.84 Brenda, this seems like it's loaded with nutrients. 00:01:21.88\00:01:25.91 It is packed with nutrients! 00:01:25.95\00:01:27.98 And one of the good things about 00:01:28.02\00:01:29.38 zucchini is that it's available year-round. Really? 00:01:29.42\00:01:32.75 So these are organic zucchini that we'll be using today. 00:01:32.79\00:01:36.22 This has spinach and cilantro and all... that's wonderful! 00:01:37.23\00:01:42.83 What we do is, we cut the ends off of our 00:01:42.86\00:01:45.43 zucchini and I've already done these ahead of time. 00:01:45.47\00:01:48.80 And what we're going to be using is called a "spiralizer." 00:01:48.84\00:01:52.44 Now this little machine spiralizes our zucchini 00:01:52.47\00:01:55.54 so that it comes out looking like spaghetti. Wow! 00:01:55.58\00:01:59.05 What we do is, we put the back end of 00:02:04.55\00:02:06.15 the zucchini onto there, hold it in with that, 00:02:06.19\00:02:14.23 lock it in and spiralize! 00:02:15.26\00:02:19.20 Wow, look at that! 00:02:19.23\00:02:22.10 We have left the skin on the zucchini because the skin, 00:02:25.17\00:02:28.84 since it's green, it's packed with vitamins. 00:02:28.88\00:02:32.35 But if you so choose, you can skin the zucchini. 00:02:32.58\00:02:38.62 And you said that zucchini is year-round? 00:02:42.39\00:02:45.19 It is year-round. So you can enjoy it 00:02:45.23\00:02:47.53 all the time! I can have pasta every day. 00:02:47.56\00:02:49.80 Wow, that is amazing! 00:02:49.83\00:02:52.83 So this cores the zucchini? 00:02:53.90\00:02:56.34 Actually, you can juice the zucchini. 00:02:57.61\00:03:00.58 Oh really? Wow! 00:03:00.61\00:03:02.44 And did you know that zucchini is 95% water? 00:03:04.81\00:03:07.58 Wow, so that means that, nope, it's not fattening 00:03:07.62\00:03:11.52 like pasta is very fattening. 00:03:11.55\00:03:13.52 That is so awesome! 00:03:14.46\00:03:15.79 And this is good too for people that are allergic 00:03:15.82\00:03:19.63 to wheat and they could have pasta also 00:03:19.66\00:03:23.37 without having the wheat. Exactly! 00:03:23.40\00:03:26.70 That is pretty awesome. 00:03:26.74\00:03:28.64 Zucchini also is loaded with vitamin C. 00:03:29.14\00:03:31.67 Oh, that's really good as well. 00:03:31.71\00:03:34.88 Let me get that bowl for you. Um hm 00:03:36.11\00:03:38.55 This is also good exercise. ... laughter 00:03:50.23\00:03:53.53 Got one more to do, I'm going to do this last one. 00:03:57.83\00:04:00.47 So... 00:04:05.97\00:04:07.31 Leaving the skin on, look at the color of the zucchini mix. 00:04:12.41\00:04:15.58 Oh, it makes it real pretty. 00:04:15.62\00:04:17.42 Okay, I think that's about enough. 00:04:20.62\00:04:23.22 That's okay. 00:04:25.43\00:04:27.60 Let's get this out of your way. 00:04:28.63\00:04:30.97 We can stick it on the counter. 00:04:35.20\00:04:36.71 Okay, so this is our beautiful color here. 00:04:37.37\00:04:40.61 And so then what we want to do, I have chopped up 00:04:46.15\00:04:48.65 some spinach... here you go. 00:04:48.68\00:04:51.45 So we'll add that... And spinach is rich in iron. 00:04:51.49\00:04:55.36 That's very good for us. 00:04:55.79\00:04:57.99 Yummy! 00:04:58.83\00:05:00.50 Let's add in some cilantro. 00:05:00.53\00:05:04.60 Yummy! Um hm 00:05:04.63\00:05:06.67 And some green onions. 00:05:08.20\00:05:13.24 And with all this green, let's add in some 00:05:13.54\00:05:17.45 super bright red tomatoes. 00:05:17.48\00:05:19.38 Oh wow, that's going to be gorgeous. 00:05:19.41\00:05:21.58 As well as some bell peppers. 00:05:23.65\00:05:26.59 And with all this color, this is where we 00:05:30.99\00:05:33.09 get our zucchini - our fiesta name from. 00:05:33.13\00:05:37.23 And you're going to put in some black sesame seeds. 00:05:40.70\00:05:46.61 Awesome! That's beautiful! 00:05:49.18\00:05:51.48 There we have it! 00:05:51.51\00:05:57.19 So we're going to clear these things away, 00:05:57.22\00:05:59.62 and let's start on the marinara sauce. Okay! 00:05:59.65\00:06:02.06 And what you need for the marinara sauce is the following: 00:06:03.09\00:06:06.03 So let's begin... 00:06:35.09\00:06:36.73 We have the Roma tomatoes and the sun-dried tomatoes, 00:06:38.43\00:06:45.33 bell pepper, 00:06:46.77\00:06:51.04 oregano, 00:06:51.07\00:06:55.14 basil, 00:06:55.18\00:06:58.15 garlic, 00:06:58.18\00:07:01.62 sea salt, 00:07:01.65\00:07:03.89 and olive oil. 00:07:06.05\00:07:08.62 Can you believe that this is not cooked? 00:07:09.49\00:07:11.86 No stove required! 00:07:11.89\00:07:13.26 Wow, I'm wondering how that's going to taste. 00:07:13.29\00:07:15.93 So we're going to process it now. 00:07:17.00\00:07:18.57 Oh, it smells so good! 00:07:29.64\00:07:32.21 Wow, look at that. 00:07:35.72\00:07:37.79 Let's get our plates ready to plate it. 00:07:38.22\00:07:40.72 So Brenda, if you were having a dinner party, 00:07:43.73\00:07:46.63 we can serve this, this is also good for 00:07:47.20\00:07:53.07 a church fellowship dinner. 00:07:53.10\00:07:56.34 Look how gorgeous that looks. 00:07:56.50\00:07:58.11 Yes, it's beautiful! 00:07:58.14\00:08:00.38 All my friends really like this. 00:08:02.81\00:08:04.58 Okay, let's get a bowl for the marinara sauce now. 00:08:08.15\00:08:11.25 Isn't this wonderful? 00:08:14.89\00:08:16.62 Do you have a spoon? 00:08:21.46\00:08:22.93 Wonderful! 00:08:27.80\00:08:29.14 So there we have it, fiesta pasta with 00:08:29.17\00:08:32.97 raw marinara sauce. 00:08:33.01\00:08:34.98 Isn't this wonderful and beautiful? 00:08:35.21\00:08:38.48 Balance and a blessing. Carbohydrates. 00:08:46.42\00:08:48.62 Did you know that God wanted His people to be balanced, 00:08:48.66\00:08:52.06 in all their blessings? 00:08:52.09\00:08:53.43 Many people ask, "What are you talking about, 00:08:53.46\00:08:55.36 balance and a blessing?" 00:08:55.40\00:08:56.77 Well today, we're going to look at a couple of items 00:08:56.80\00:08:58.53 on how we can do that. 00:08:58.57\00:08:59.90 In our program, especially, we don't say anybody is 00:08:59.93\00:09:03.34 per se "fat" as some people would say, "overweight, obese," 00:09:03.37\00:09:09.11 and we don't say, "people are skinny," 00:09:09.14\00:09:11.08 some may say, "thin," or you know what they call 00:09:11.11\00:09:14.62 people "frail," and stuff like that. 00:09:14.65\00:09:16.15 In our program, we believe that some people are actually 00:09:16.18\00:09:19.02 "over-blessed" and some are "under-blessed." 00:09:19.05\00:09:21.99 Now people say, "What are you talking about?" 00:09:22.02\00:09:23.86 We don't like to discourage people. 00:09:23.89\00:09:26.53 Our goal is to actually encourage them, 00:09:26.56\00:09:28.50 and I can imagine if I had too much blessings 00:09:28.53\00:09:32.53 or somebody just said, "Man, Nyse, you're fat," 00:09:32.57\00:09:34.74 I wouldn't be very motivated to 00:09:34.77\00:09:36.37 do anything because I would just be discouraged... 00:09:36.40\00:09:38.87 So our goal is to focus on helping people, 00:09:38.91\00:09:41.08 and so we decided to term this item "a blessing," 00:09:41.11\00:09:44.91 and people said, "Well how could 00:09:44.95\00:09:46.35 fat be considered a blessing?" 00:09:46.38\00:09:47.72 Well, here's a couple of reasons why... 00:09:47.75\00:09:49.25 Number 1, we believe that God has blessed His 00:09:49.28\00:09:51.39 people with what? Finances. 00:09:51.42\00:09:53.36 He blessed them with money and so as a result, 00:09:53.39\00:09:55.72 they have so much money, they don't share it enough, 00:09:55.76\00:09:57.99 they don't give enough, maybe they don't help enough, 00:09:58.03\00:09:59.86 so they kind of keep all of that money to themselves 00:09:59.89\00:10:02.23 which is the money, like I said, it's a blessing... 00:10:02.26\00:10:05.40 But then as a result, they go out now and they 00:10:05.43\00:10:08.70 start to buy things and they don't just like 00:10:08.74\00:10:11.01 buy anything, but they buy like more food... 00:10:11.04\00:10:13.64 And we just buy like one bag of rice, 00:10:13.68\00:10:16.78 we actually buy the supersize bag. 00:10:16.81\00:10:19.91 What else do we do? 00:10:19.95\00:10:21.28 We don't buy just like one juice, 00:10:21.32\00:10:22.65 but we buy like 10 juices. 00:10:22.68\00:10:24.45 And so as a result, we don't even shop at regular 00:10:24.49\00:10:27.32 supermarkets anymore, we go to the wholesale places 00:10:27.36\00:10:30.49 and the funny thing is, our families haven't gotten any 00:10:30.53\00:10:33.03 bigger, they actually got smaller, but we're buying more. 00:10:33.06\00:10:36.16 So what do we do with all of this 00:10:36.20\00:10:38.03 food that we have been blessed with because of the 00:10:38.07\00:10:39.93 financial blessings, now we have more 00:10:39.97\00:10:41.34 money to buy more food? 00:10:41.37\00:10:42.70 We go ahead and we start to EAT more food. 00:10:42.74\00:10:45.61 So now the blessing leaves the financial realm, 00:10:45.64\00:10:48.38 and, as a result, because we don't give and share enough 00:10:48.41\00:10:51.28 of our food blessings, we start to... 00:10:51.31\00:10:53.72 now the blessing is what? 00:10:53.75\00:10:55.08 Manifested in one way or another, 00:10:55.12\00:10:56.79 and some of us are over-blessed and some are under-blessed. 00:10:56.82\00:10:59.15 And people say, "Well, how can you prove that?" 00:10:59.19\00:11:01.12 Well just look at the homeless man... 00:11:01.16\00:11:02.76 He doesn't have the financial blessings, 00:11:02.79\00:11:04.53 and so, in general, you won't see 00:11:04.56\00:11:06.76 the homeless people who are over-blessed. 00:11:06.80\00:11:08.53 They are usually under-blessed because they only eat 00:11:08.56\00:11:11.33 enough to like survive. 00:11:11.37\00:11:13.37 And so our goal is to teach 00:11:13.40\00:11:14.74 people how to balance the blessings. 00:11:14.77\00:11:16.10 We had an opportunity to work with one young lady. 00:11:16.14\00:11:18.11 She had over 350+ blessings, literally, she was over-blessed, 00:11:18.14\00:11:24.28 but as a result, she was thinking of getting 00:11:24.31\00:11:26.41 what is known as the "gastric bypass." 00:11:26.45\00:11:28.45 You all know what that is... where they just cut the stomach. 00:11:28.48\00:11:30.42 As-a-matter-of-fact, these days 00:11:30.45\00:11:31.79 they don't really cut your stomach no more, 00:11:31.82\00:11:33.15 they just throw a band around it. 00:11:33.19\00:11:34.52 They call it the "lap band" or gastric bypass. 00:11:34.56\00:11:38.79 And I asked her a quick question... 00:11:38.83\00:11:40.36 I said, "Ma'am, is it an emergency to have the surgery?" 00:11:40.40\00:11:43.30 And she said, "Well I don't know." 00:11:43.33\00:11:44.73 I said, "Well contact your physician because we 00:11:44.77\00:11:46.17 work along with physicians and practitioners and nurses, 00:11:46.20\00:11:48.90 and everybody there - we don't say anything bad about them." 00:11:48.94\00:11:51.61 "Work along with them." 00:11:51.64\00:11:52.97 And so she went and she called her physician and said, 00:11:53.01\00:11:55.34 "Is it an emergency," and the doctor said, 00:11:55.38\00:11:56.71 "Well it's up to you, if you want the surgery, 00:11:56.75\00:11:59.35 then you can go ahead and do it and then you'll lose weight." 00:11:59.38\00:12:01.82 But here's the thing, in those programs, you actually lose 00:12:01.85\00:12:04.72 weight - when you do these procedures, you lose weight, 00:12:04.75\00:12:06.76 and sometimes you lose SO MUCH of it, you have to go back 00:12:06.79\00:12:10.83 and do another surgery because now you have 00:12:10.86\00:12:12.79 the extra blessing of skin... 00:12:12.83\00:12:14.30 you all know what I'm talking about. 00:12:14.33\00:12:15.66 So many people now, they go back and they get a 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.97 whole nother thing and they call it something like a 00:12:18.00\00:12:19.83 "total body lift" or something where they remove all that 00:12:19.87\00:12:23.07 excess skin and stuff because they 00:12:23.10\00:12:24.84 actually lost weight so fast. 00:12:24.87\00:12:27.41 That's why we don't encourage people, 00:12:27.44\00:12:29.41 or we don't tell them, "we'll teach you how to lose weight." 00:12:29.44\00:12:31.51 We'll teach you how to balance the blessing, 00:12:31.55\00:12:33.18 because if you are over-blessed, and you follow 00:12:33.21\00:12:35.58 the plan that God has given you, 00:12:35.62\00:12:36.95 you come right to where you need to be. 00:12:36.99\00:12:38.85 If you are under-blessed, what would happen? 00:12:38.89\00:12:40.76 You will balance right up to where you need to be. 00:12:40.79\00:12:43.09 I used to be right around there, I used to be about 220 00:12:43.12\00:12:46.90 and stuff - I was playing football and I was over-blessed. 00:12:46.93\00:12:49.73 But then when I started learning this information, 00:12:49.76\00:12:51.77 my blessings started to balance and I came down right 00:12:51.80\00:12:55.40 to where I need to be and the funny thing was 00:12:55.44\00:12:57.34 that was like over 17 years ago. 00:12:57.37\00:12:59.24 Do you know I'm still eating the same food today 00:12:59.27\00:13:02.04 and when it was happening, when I started to like 00:13:02.08\00:13:04.68 lose weight, I was like... 00:13:04.71\00:13:06.11 "Man, I withering away, what's happening?" 00:13:06.15\00:13:08.52 But as a result, I peaked or I balanced 00:13:08.58\00:13:10.95 right where I needed to be and then 00:13:10.99\00:13:12.92 that was it, I stayed the same. 00:13:12.95\00:13:14.42 Now if I'm in the islands or the 00:13:14.49\00:13:15.92 Caribbean where the food is heavier, 00:13:15.96\00:13:17.63 I would probably add maybe 1 or 2 more blessings. 00:13:17.66\00:13:20.40 If I'm in Asia and the food is much lighter, 00:13:20.43\00:13:22.80 I'd probably go down 1 or 2, but you don't have these 00:13:22.83\00:13:25.67 peaks and troughs; you know, these 20 pound 00:13:25.70\00:13:28.64 weight increases and these 10 pound decreases, 00:13:28.67\00:13:32.44 you will balance your blessings as a result. 00:13:32.47\00:13:35.14 So I just want to encourage you, let's try to start 00:13:35.18\00:13:37.55 balancing these blessings... 00:13:37.58\00:13:38.91 We're not here to lose weight or gain it. 00:13:38.95\00:13:40.72 We're just going to follow the plan that God has given us 00:13:40.75\00:13:42.72 because it's in our DNA how we should look; 00:13:42.75\00:13:45.25 what size we should be and all of that. 00:13:45.29\00:13:48.02 So you all don't have to worry. 00:13:48.06\00:13:49.46 But what we notice is... those people who follow these 00:13:49.49\00:13:53.06 diets - you all know what I'm talking about, right? 00:13:53.09\00:13:55.43 Well you take the "t"... one person said, 00:13:55.46\00:13:57.40 "If you take the "t" and try a diet, 00:13:57.43\00:13:59.93 so take "t" off of "diet," and you will, 00:13:59.97\00:14:02.60 if you try a diet, you will d- i-e, die and I'm 00:14:02.64\00:14:05.91 not going to say that, not all diets will kill you. 00:14:05.94\00:14:08.01 But it's almost true because most diets - what will they do? 00:14:08.04\00:14:10.95 They will take something necessary out of your lifestyle, 00:14:10.98\00:14:14.58 something that body needs and craves for and as a result, 00:14:14.62\00:14:18.65 if you continue to follow them without making 00:14:18.69\00:14:21.59 any other changes, then eventually something will 00:14:21.62\00:14:24.36 go wrong because your body needs something from that. 00:14:24.39\00:14:27.13 So we're not going to try a diet today. 00:14:27.16\00:14:28.86 Actually, what we're going to do, 00:14:28.90\00:14:30.27 we're just going to eat the way the Lord wants us to eat, 00:14:30.30\00:14:32.80 and everything else is going to work out. 00:14:32.83\00:14:34.37 But one of those diets that we'll look out today 00:14:34.40\00:14:36.47 because we're going to focus on carbohydrates. 00:14:36.50\00:14:38.64 This is like the big, scary word with many people around 00:14:38.67\00:14:43.18 town and they're like, "Oh is that a carb, is that a carb?" 00:14:43.21\00:14:45.48 And they won't eat it and so you look at their plates 00:14:45.51\00:14:48.25 sometimes and they got a nice piece of veggie meat, amen... 00:14:48.28\00:14:52.39 Or maybe even a piece of chicken or fish or something like that, 00:14:52.42\00:14:55.12 and then you look on the other side of the plate, 00:14:55.16\00:14:57.26 and you probably see some veggies or something... 00:14:57.29\00:14:59.19 And you're like, "Wait a second, something is kind of like 00:14:59.23\00:15:01.56 missing here and you say, "Well what's going on?" 00:15:01.60\00:15:04.10 They're like, "Uh, I don't eat no rice, I don't eat no bread, 00:15:04.13\00:15:08.14 I don't eat this and I don't eat that," 00:15:08.17\00:15:09.64 and everybody is like trying to avoid these carbs. 00:15:09.67\00:15:13.31 Well that could be a little questionable... Why? 00:15:13.34\00:15:15.61 Because carbs are a necessary part of your diet. 00:15:15.64\00:15:18.18 You need it, you can't live without it. 00:15:18.21\00:15:20.12 It's like brain food. 00:15:20.15\00:15:21.52 So what we're going to focus on today is how 00:15:21.55\00:15:24.29 to incorporate some carbs into our diet, 00:15:24.32\00:15:26.59 how to chew the proper ones because it's necessary... 00:15:26.62\00:15:29.92 you need to have it every day and this thing of like 00:15:29.96\00:15:33.96 hiding away from it, we're going to have to go ahead, 00:15:34.00\00:15:36.26 and wash that to the side 00:15:36.43\00:15:37.90 because you will see the benefit of doing it. 00:15:37.93\00:15:40.84 But there's one carb in particular and we'll look at a 00:15:40.87\00:15:43.51 couple here today that many people say, "Well I don't eat 00:15:43.54\00:15:46.11 at all because it makes me fat or in our program, we would say, 00:15:46.14\00:15:50.41 "They think it makes them over-blessed," 00:15:50.45\00:15:52.45 and that carb is rice. 00:15:52.48\00:15:54.92 Now you all know what I'm talking about. 00:15:54.95\00:15:56.89 Nobody wants to eat rice... 00:15:56.92\00:15:58.32 "Oh, the rice makes me over-blessed, 00:15:58.35\00:16:00.92 and I don't want to do it." 00:16:00.96\00:16:03.79 You remember the lady I was just telling you about 00:16:03.83\00:16:05.23 who was going to get that gastric bypass surgery, 00:16:05.26\00:16:07.60 she had over 350+ blessings. 00:16:07.63\00:16:11.07 She went ahead and started following the plan. 00:16:11.10\00:16:13.13 As-a-matter-of-fact, she started eating more carbs now, 00:16:13.17\00:16:15.57 and, as a result, in the first month, she balanced, 00:16:15.60\00:16:17.87 meaning she lost like almost 24-25, 00:16:17.91\00:16:21.61 the second month 22-23, the third month, 00:16:21.64\00:16:24.78 and fourth month, over about 6 months 00:16:24.81\00:16:28.28 she balanced - meaning that she went down in her weight 00:16:28.32\00:16:31.02 over 100+ blessings. 00:16:31.05\00:16:33.79 You all know what that means... over 100+ pounds 00:16:33.82\00:16:36.56 just by following the simple things. 00:16:36.59\00:16:38.29 And as-a-matter-of-fact, she was actually using carbs. 00:16:38.33\00:16:41.13 And now, today... well let me tell you real quick, 00:16:41.16\00:16:43.47 you know what happened to that surgery? 00:16:43.50\00:16:44.93 They cancelled the surgery, no more surgery, not needed. 00:16:44.97\00:16:47.94 The doctor said, "I don't know what you're doing, 00:16:47.97\00:16:49.30 whatever you're doing, keep doing it. 00:16:49.34\00:16:50.67 She don't need the surgery anymore and as a result 00:16:50.71\00:16:53.48 she is actually eating carbs, and I wish she could be here 00:16:53.51\00:16:56.34 to tell you some of the story. 00:16:56.38\00:16:58.15 But today, you all are going to learn your own 00:16:58.18\00:16:59.68 because what we're going to do is learn how to make 00:16:59.71\00:17:01.45 some of them and that rice that we were talking about... 00:17:01.48\00:17:03.92 the one in particular that we're going to look at is 00:17:03.95\00:17:06.35 brown rice! Okay? So I'm going to call it 00:17:06.39\00:17:08.82 "whole grain rice" because a lot of us, we like the 00:17:08.86\00:17:11.53 white rice and white rice does taste good, 00:17:11.56\00:17:13.40 but it may not be the best thing! 00:17:13.43\00:17:15.23 It's actually a refined product, almost like white flour 00:17:15.26\00:17:18.33 and white bread, it's not the whole grain. 00:17:18.37\00:17:21.67 If you actually look at your white rice, 00:17:21.70\00:17:23.41 and I want everybody, if you're at home, 00:17:23.44\00:17:24.77 call the kids, tell somebody "Go grab me a white rice 00:17:24.81\00:17:27.68 and a piece of brown rice," or you know what I mean, 00:17:27.71\00:17:29.74 a grain and if you look at it closely, 00:17:29.78\00:17:32.25 you'll see that the white rice has been processed 00:17:32.28\00:17:35.02 or refined, you know, I'm thinking in Spanish here... 00:17:35.05\00:17:38.79 What you will see is, on the top of that white rice 00:17:38.82\00:17:42.09 grain, you will see a little cut. 00:17:42.12\00:17:44.16 Okay, I will grab a little grain of brown rice, 00:17:44.19\00:17:46.29 you probably can't see here, but get your own - this is mine. 00:17:46.33\00:17:49.13 They went ahead and they cut it, so you see a little 00:17:49.16\00:17:51.63 cut going across the top, and then if you look at the 00:17:51.67\00:17:54.27 bottom of that white rice you see a little 00:17:54.30\00:17:56.77 like a little claw - you know what used to be there, 00:17:56.81\00:17:59.61 that used to be the germ... they cut that off. 00:17:59.64\00:18:02.48 The thing that they cut off off the top was 00:18:02.51\00:18:04.51 the fiber or the bran which is necessary. 00:18:04.55\00:18:07.92 And then, so they cut off the fiber, 00:18:07.95\00:18:10.02 then they dig out the germ and then the last thing you're 00:18:10.05\00:18:13.89 left with is a piece or grain of white rice. 00:18:13.92\00:18:17.23 This is like the leftover stuff. 00:18:17.26\00:18:18.96 You know what the funny thing they do 00:18:18.99\00:18:21.03 with that bran that you just had? 00:18:21.06\00:18:22.76 They take that and they probably mix it up, add a little sugar 00:18:22.80\00:18:25.63 they make cereal and they call it, "whole grain, 00:18:25.67\00:18:28.54 or not whole grain - bran flakes" or something like that, 00:18:28.57\00:18:31.34 and then they sell you that for another $5 or $6 00:18:31.37\00:18:34.04 or whatever the currency is, and then they take that little 00:18:34.08\00:18:37.51 germ that we were looking at, you know, and if you look 00:18:37.55\00:18:40.18 at your white rice, you will see it, 00:18:40.22\00:18:41.55 it will be missing a little part... 00:18:41.58\00:18:42.92 they take that germ and they put it in a glass jar 00:18:42.95\00:18:44.82 and then what do they do? 00:18:44.85\00:18:46.19 They tell you, "Oh, when you have your bran flakes 00:18:46.22\00:18:48.76 in the morning, make sure you add 2 tablespoons 00:18:48.79\00:18:51.76 of wheat germ"... so they made another 00:18:51.79\00:18:55.53 $5 and $6 off of you or whatever the currency is, 00:18:55.56\00:18:58.80 and, as a result, you're left with the white rice. 00:18:58.83\00:19:01.84 And so, you've added all of these things back 00:19:01.87\00:19:04.21 into your meal that you could have had 00:19:04.24\00:19:06.37 if you just ate the whole grain. 00:19:06.41\00:19:08.88 And I had to learn this the hard way... 00:19:08.91\00:19:10.58 As a result, if anybody used white rice, white bread 00:19:10.61\00:19:14.35 or something like that, you're going to notice that 00:19:14.38\00:19:15.92 they may or you may have a little problem going, you know, 00:19:15.95\00:19:18.85 to the bathroom-number 2, is because it is missing 00:19:18.89\00:19:22.09 that bran or that fiber, so when it hits the system 00:19:22.12\00:19:26.06 it becomes like glue. 00:19:26.09\00:19:27.43 If anybody used to fly a kite... 00:19:27.46\00:19:28.80 a long time ago when I used 00:19:28.83\00:19:30.17 to be young - I don't think y'all were around, 00:19:30.20\00:19:31.53 we used to fly kites, we didn't have 00:19:31.57\00:19:32.90 Elmer's glue and all these glues, right? 00:19:32.93\00:19:34.64 So what we would do is we would take the white flour 00:19:34.67\00:19:37.04 and mix it with a little water and we put that on a stick, 00:19:37.07\00:19:39.47 put the kite on top, let it dry, 00:19:39.51\00:19:41.11 and then you would be flying kites. 00:19:41.14\00:19:42.74 That's what those white products do, 00:19:42.78\00:19:44.11 they work almost like glue, so be careful. 00:19:44.15\00:19:47.55 But we're going to do, we ain't going to add no 00:19:47.58\00:19:50.02 glue to our system, we're going to go ahead 00:19:50.05\00:19:52.29 and let things flow naturally and we're going to do that 00:19:52.32\00:19:55.76 by making the flaky, brown rice. 00:19:55.79\00:19:58.83 Here's the recipe, all you need is: 00:19:58.86\00:20:01.26 And any time do say salt on our program, 00:20:07.34\00:20:09.74 you know what we're talking about, 00:20:09.77\00:20:11.11 we're talking about sea salt. 00:20:11.14\00:20:12.47 And that's all you need, a little problem where people 00:20:12.51\00:20:16.01 say, "Oh, brown rice is great, but it takes so long to cook," 00:20:16.04\00:20:21.02 or "I'm just so tired of it and it's always so hard," 00:20:21.05\00:20:24.39 or "If I do make it, I have to cook it properly because it's 00:20:24.42\00:20:26.92 really sticky and I feel like I need chopsticks to eat it." 00:20:26.96\00:20:29.46 But you don't even have to do that anymore because today 00:20:29.49\00:20:31.76 we're going to make flakey brown rice which is almost like 00:20:31.79\00:20:34.86 the white rice that you make. 00:20:34.90\00:20:36.30 All you need is a nice little skillet as we see here. 00:20:36.33\00:20:40.27 I went ahead and I turned on the fire because you're going to 00:20:40.30\00:20:42.60 need it to get a little hot, alright? 00:20:42.64\00:20:45.34 As-a-matter-of-fact, I'm going to turn it up even more 00:20:45.37\00:20:47.68 to make sure we get the heat going. 00:20:47.71\00:20:50.25 You don't need any oil or anything like that, 00:20:50.28\00:20:53.01 and you just take that 2 cups of brown, whole grain rice 00:20:53.05\00:20:57.45 and a lot of people say, "Well that's little bit more expensive 00:20:57.49\00:20:59.95 than white rice" and I would like to explain that here 00:20:59.99\00:21:02.49 in a second, but first I'm just going to pour that in here 00:21:02.52\00:21:04.76 dry and you're going to get it nice and hot until you 00:21:04.79\00:21:07.60 start hearing crackling and the color is going to start 00:21:07.63\00:21:11.47 getting brown a little bit. 00:21:11.50\00:21:12.87 They say, "Well the brown rice is more expensive 00:21:12.90\00:21:15.14 than the white rice and, you know what, 00:21:15.17\00:21:16.50 they may be on to something. 00:21:16.54\00:21:17.87 But actually, you're going to save even more... why? 00:21:17.91\00:21:20.54 Because you eat less brown rice than you would white rice. 00:21:20.58\00:21:23.91 Anybody ever went to like lunch or something like that 00:21:23.95\00:21:26.82 or even at your house when you have white rice, 00:21:26.85\00:21:29.02 you would take a big plate of white rice and you eat it, 00:21:29.05\00:21:31.79 eat it, eat it, and you'll still be able to go for what? 00:21:31.82\00:21:34.39 Seconds - like, "Ah, can I get some more of this," 00:21:34.42\00:21:36.99 you know, rice and peas or just white rice with some more 00:21:37.03\00:21:40.16 of whatever other items that you had accompanied with it, 00:21:40.20\00:21:43.00 but when you have brown rice, if you've ever noticed, 00:21:43.03\00:21:45.43 when people are about to serve the brown rice, 00:21:45.47\00:21:47.40 they are like, "WAIT, just give me maybe a spoonful." 00:21:47.44\00:21:51.24 Now why are people so afraid of the brown rice? 00:21:51.27\00:21:53.74 You know why they're afraid? 00:21:53.78\00:21:55.54 Because the brown rice is actually a whole grain, 00:21:55.58\00:21:59.25 and you can't be calling for seconds. 00:21:59.28\00:22:01.48 Why? Because when you eat that whole grain, that fiber, 00:22:01.52\00:22:05.72 you remember I told you that little part that they cut off 00:22:05.75\00:22:07.62 of the white rice - that fiber, is indigestible. 00:22:07.66\00:22:11.13 What that means is - your body can't, per se, break it down, 00:22:11.16\00:22:14.30 so what it does is, it expands on you, 00:22:14.33\00:22:17.07 and then you start to get, what? 00:22:17.10\00:22:18.70 Full faster just by eating it. 00:22:18.73\00:22:22.37 So as a result, you may not be calling for seconds, why not? 00:22:22.40\00:22:26.57 Because you are actually fuller now and, as a result, 00:22:26.61\00:22:31.08 well, what is that fiber going to do? 00:22:31.11\00:22:32.48 As it starts to pass through and it expanded on you, 00:22:32.51\00:22:35.45 it's going to go down the digestive tract, 00:22:35.48\00:22:37.85 and it's going to start scrubbing down the walls, 00:22:37.89\00:22:40.26 you know, all of that glue that I was telling you about. 00:22:40.29\00:22:42.69 We don't need to detoxify the system, 00:22:42.72\00:22:44.26 the food will do it naturally for you, 00:22:44.29\00:22:46.09 and that fiber will start to pull it all out. 00:22:46.13\00:22:48.53 And people say, "How do you know when it's coming out?" 00:22:48.56\00:22:50.50 Don't worry, your body will tell you 00:22:50.53\00:22:51.87 because you'll be running to the restroom. 00:22:51.90\00:22:53.47 And that's what happens with the whole grain brown rice. 00:22:53.50\00:22:57.44 And I hope you all don't mind that I'm talking about 00:22:57.47\00:22:59.47 you know, the restroom and stuff like that 00:22:59.51\00:23:01.24 because it's very, very important that we have 00:23:01.28\00:23:04.95 proper movement - y'all know what I'm talking about. 00:23:04.98\00:23:07.42 I'm not talking about dancing. 00:23:07.45\00:23:08.78 I'm not talking about exercising. 00:23:08.82\00:23:10.55 I'm talking about proper movement of the bowels 00:23:10.59\00:23:14.06 there to go to the bathroom. 00:23:14.09\00:23:16.29 So what you do here is just shake it up there a little bit. 00:23:16.32\00:23:20.23 If you notice, it's starting to get a little brown. 00:23:20.26\00:23:23.77 As-a-matter-of-fact, it will even smell like 00:23:23.80\00:23:25.43 popcorn a little bit and so people enjoy doing it 00:23:25.47\00:23:28.40 this way... it smells like popcorn. 00:23:28.44\00:23:30.31 You get it a little, little, little brown, 00:23:30.34\00:23:32.44 not too much and this will actually help us to cut 00:23:32.47\00:23:35.58 the cooking time down on the brown rice. 00:23:35.61\00:23:40.32 So as you see, it's getting rolling there. 00:23:40.35\00:23:42.78 Then I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to take my 00:23:42.82\00:23:44.92 4 cups of water... simple rule of thumb with 00:23:44.95\00:23:47.32 brown rice - for every cup of rice, 00:23:47.36\00:23:49.66 then you add 2 cups of water. 00:23:49.69\00:23:51.03 Now it's nice and hot, so you're going to get a little sizz... 00:23:51.06\00:23:53.66 there you go - now that's what I'm talking about. 00:23:53.70\00:23:59.97 You all, who say you don't cook brown rice, 00:24:00.00\00:24:02.14 from now on, you will never be able to say that. 00:24:02.17\00:24:04.81 And you add a little bit of salt there for flavor. 00:24:04.84\00:24:07.21 I know some people would add a little bit of oil. 00:24:07.24\00:24:11.21 Some people would add garlic. 00:24:11.25\00:24:12.71 I mean, it's up to you, I'm just going to make the 00:24:12.75\00:24:14.52 nice basic one that you can use. 00:24:14.55\00:24:16.69 You keep that on high. 00:24:16.72\00:24:18.25 You let that boil a little bit, follow the instructions. 00:24:18.29\00:24:21.69 When it comes to a simmer and it starts boiling, 00:24:21.72\00:24:24.03 then you put it on low. 00:24:24.06\00:24:25.59 You don't want to interrupt it too much, 00:24:25.63\00:24:27.96 just trust and obey because there's no other way 00:24:28.00\00:24:30.57 to be full and happy unless you trust and obey. 00:24:30.60\00:24:34.14 So you're going to go ahead... 00:24:34.17\00:24:35.57 sorry I couldn't sing it for you all... 00:24:35.60\00:24:36.94 you're going to go ahead and you're going to 00:24:36.97\00:24:38.31 leave that there, let it boil up a little bit, then you put it on 00:24:38.34\00:24:40.98 low heat and we don't have that. 00:24:41.01\00:24:44.05 It will be good for about 30-45 minutes, 00:24:44.08\00:24:46.25 it should be ready and this is one of the keys 00:24:46.28\00:24:48.52 to balancing your blessings is following a schedule, 00:24:48.55\00:24:51.99 and we'll talk about that another time. 00:24:52.02\00:24:53.82 And, I'll leave that there for you, 00:24:53.86\00:24:55.72 but I already have a finished product, okay. 00:24:55.76\00:24:58.69 And this is how it should look there, let me get a little 00:24:58.73\00:25:02.00 fork so you all can all can see the fluffiness of it. 00:25:02.03\00:25:05.27 As you see there, I sprinkled some parsley 00:25:05.30\00:25:08.50 and a little paprika. 00:25:08.54\00:25:11.27 You all know what paprika is, 00:25:11.31\00:25:12.64 it's actually dried red bell pepper, 00:25:12.67\00:25:16.28 and that is your flaky brown rice! 00:25:16.31\00:25:19.61 No more excuses for not being able to cook brown rice! 00:25:19.65\00:25:23.59 Why else is this good for balancing those blessings? 00:25:23.62\00:25:25.92 #1- It's a whole grain, okay. 00:25:25.95\00:25:29.26 So we have a whole grain item here. 00:25:29.29\00:25:31.43 #2- As we talked about, that little 00:25:31.46\00:25:35.06 fiber that is indigestible, so as it is not going to let 00:25:35.10\00:25:37.50 excess things hold on there throughout the digestive tract. 00:25:37.53\00:25:40.70 #3- You eat less of it because you get full faster. 00:25:40.74\00:25:44.04 But there are a couple of other carbs that people 00:25:44.07\00:25:46.54 are afraid of and if you take a look here with me... 00:25:46.57\00:25:49.04 What do we have here? 00:25:49.08\00:25:50.41 We have some bread, we have some whole grain bread. 00:25:50.45\00:25:54.18 This is crucial, we need to start buying some more 00:25:54.22\00:25:56.85 whole grain bread. 00:25:56.89\00:25:58.65 The simple rule of thumb is that when you buy this 00:25:58.69\00:26:02.42 whole grain bread - that it should only have about 00:26:02.46\00:26:05.23 3, 4, 5, maybe maximum 6 ingredients. 00:26:05.26\00:26:08.50 Have you seen the loaves of bread lately? 00:26:08.53\00:26:10.20 I mean, one whole side of the loaf is ingredients! 00:26:10.23\00:26:13.64 And here's another rule of thumb, 00:26:13.67\00:26:15.00 when you start reading those ingredients, 00:26:15.04\00:26:16.50 if there is something on there that you can't pronounce, 00:26:16.54\00:26:20.34 go ahead and just put it down. 00:26:20.38\00:26:22.08 There's an old rule... "When in doubt, leave it out." 00:26:22.11\00:26:25.98 And that's what I want everybody to do... 00:26:26.01\00:26:27.38 When you start reading ingredients and stuff 00:26:27.42\00:26:29.18 at your supermarket, if you don't know what that 00:26:29.22\00:26:31.39 means, just you know... "exolcalalabosphate," 00:26:31.42\00:26:34.99 I just made that up, don't worry about it, don't look for it. 00:26:35.02\00:26:37.29 When you see stuff like that, put it down because it's 00:26:37.33\00:26:40.30 probably no good for you, okay? 00:26:40.33\00:26:42.13 And so when you're going ahead and looking at the ingredients, 00:26:42.16\00:26:45.83 it should only have about 3 or 4 or 5, 00:26:45.87\00:26:48.60 maybe max 6 ingredients, not a whole list, 00:26:48.64\00:26:51.94 and so what we find is whole grain wheat, whole grain flour, 00:26:51.97\00:26:57.51 whole wheat - these are the items that you want to look for. 00:26:57.55\00:27:00.38 I even found, more than likely, in most places 00:27:00.42\00:27:03.22 I find whole wheat pita is pretty good. 00:27:03.25\00:27:05.59 They only have a few ingredients. 00:27:05.62\00:27:07.56 So those are some of the items, but there are some other carbs 00:27:07.59\00:27:09.99 that people are so afraid of, and it's crucial that we 00:27:10.03\00:27:13.70 understand this. 00:27:13.73\00:27:15.06 There are two of my favorite, I don't know about you all, 00:27:15.10\00:27:17.27 but maybe it's your favorite too? 00:27:17.30\00:27:18.67 And one is potatoes, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. 00:27:18.70\00:27:23.77 Everybody is afraid of the potatoes! 00:27:23.81\00:27:26.68 They always say, "Oh, the potato is fattening!" 00:27:26.71\00:27:29.51 Now, poor potato because it's my buddy, 00:27:29.54\00:27:32.61 and it's actually one of the best friends of the stomach. 00:27:32.65\00:27:34.88 The poor potato gets the blame, remember when we went over this. 00:27:34.92\00:27:37.85 The good guys get the blame! 00:27:37.89\00:27:39.22 It's not the potato that was bad! 00:27:39.25\00:27:40.86 It was what we did to the potato that was bad. 00:27:40.89\00:27:43.02 We baked it and it was healthy, then we put so much stuff 00:27:43.06\00:27:46.19 on top of it which caused the problem. 00:27:46.23\00:27:48.23 So most whole grain items are actually GOOD! 00:27:48.26\00:27:50.97 All of them are good! 00:27:51.00\00:27:52.33 The problem is what we do to it. 00:27:52.37\00:27:53.84 So enjoy some flaky brown rice and have a good time, 00:27:53.87\00:27:57.11 and let's balance some blessings today! 00:27:57.14\00:27:58.77
