Welcome to the New Journey, a program about real life people 00:00:08.07\00:00:12.04 with real life testimonies doing real life ministry for Jesus 00:00:12.07\00:00:16.01 Christ. I'm your host Pastor 00:00:16.04\00:00:17.85 Marquis Johns. Join us on the New Journey. 00:00:17.91\00:00:19.25 ¤ ¤ 00:00:20.75\00:00:53.21 Jesus promises us resurrection and some of us are waiting till 00:00:53.25\00:00:57.69 some future event to experience that resurrection. On today's 00:00:57.72\00:01:02.26 show we have someone who's been resurrected at least two times. 00:01:02.29\00:01:06.83 Bryan, how are you doing today? 00:01:06.86\00:01:08.83 Fine. Bryan why don't you tell us who 00:01:08.86\00:01:10.83 you are and where you're from. 00:01:10.87\00:01:12.20 My name is Bryan Myers. I'm from Wabash, Indiana. 00:01:12.23\00:01:14.67 Wabash, Indiana? Wabash, yeah. 00:01:14.70\00:01:18.17 OK. So Bryan, as you heard me say, and I want to get into it 00:01:18.21\00:01:21.91 very quickly, I want to get into it very quickly, because I feel 00:01:21.94\00:01:25.11 like you have a lot to share with our audience, our viewers. 00:01:25.15\00:01:28.28 Tell us about your early childhood and upbringing. 00:01:28.32\00:01:31.42 I had both parents together, middle-class, wealthy parents. 00:01:31.45\00:01:36.02 I mean, we had a great family. I had a good upbringing. We were 00:01:36.06\00:01:42.66 all together. About the age of 15 I started drinking and of 00:01:42.70\00:01:49.30 course that led to smoking pot and drugs. Then I... 00:01:49.34\00:01:53.31 Let's deal with the early childhood. You had parents. Did 00:01:53.34\00:01:57.11 your parents have a divorce? 00:01:57.15\00:01:58.48 No, they separated but they got right back together. 00:01:58.51\00:02:02.65 So, parents separated for a moment, came back together. 00:02:02.68\00:02:07.06 Dad hard worker, Mom taking care of the family. Any siblings? 00:02:07.09\00:02:12.66 Yes, a brother and a sister. 00:02:12.69\00:02:14.03 A brother and a sister. Older or younger? 00:02:14.06\00:02:15.40 One was younger. OK, so, pretty stable family, 00:02:15.43\00:02:20.20 pretty stable home and then out of the blue one day you just 00:02:20.24\00:02:24.91 you just started drinking Bryan? Yeah. 00:02:24.94\00:02:27.38 I mean, was drinking a part of what went on in the family? 00:02:27.41\00:02:30.61 Was it the occasional drink or was dad a drinker, was mom a 00:02:30.65\00:02:33.78 drinker? What made you decide drinking? 00:02:33.82\00:02:36.12 No my parents were really Christians. I mean, we went to 00:02:36.15\00:02:39.42 church three times a week. It's the in crowd in high school when 00:02:39.45\00:02:45.16 I was going into high school. 00:02:45.19\00:02:46.53 OK, so, you get into high school 15, 16 years of age, popularity 00:02:46.56\00:02:49.10 hits, you want to be popular, you want to be with the in crowd 00:02:49.13\00:02:52.97 and alcohol is the way to do that. Tell us about that. 00:02:53.00\00:02:56.44 I started drinking, like I said, 15, 16. After a few years that 00:02:56.47\00:03:00.31 progressed into smoking some pot and that progressed, of 00:03:00.34\00:03:04.81 course, into doing some coke and tripping on acid. You know you 00:03:04.88\00:03:14.52 recreation for a while. 00:03:14.56\00:03:15.89 So, from 15 years of age to about 19, 20, you're in this 00:03:15.92\00:03:21.36 experimental phase. Right. 00:03:21.40\00:03:22.83 Anything to get a rush. Right. 00:03:22.86\00:03:24.20 Anything to get the adrenaline going. You know, whatever it is; 00:03:24.23\00:03:27.20 pot, alcohol, LSD, mushrooms, whatever it is. When do you 00:03:27.24\00:03:32.87 settle on a drug of choice? 00:03:32.91\00:03:35.01 My drug of choice? Um, I finally settled on coke. I like started 00:03:35.04\00:03:40.35 snorting it, of course, like everybody else. That went on for 00:03:40.38\00:03:44.65 two, three or four years until you couldn't really snort it any 00:03:44.69\00:03:48.49 more. You can only snort so much then you start smoking it and 00:03:48.52\00:03:51.89 then after about three months of smoking I realized that I hated 00:03:51.93\00:03:55.86 that because you just knew you were going to run out and you 00:03:55.90\00:03:59.03 was crazy if you had a great big wad of it left. So then I 00:03:59.07\00:04:02.14 started shooting it. That went on for in and out... 00:04:02.17\00:04:08.34 I'm sorry let me just burst in here. Of all the things I've 00:04:08.38\00:04:12.61 heard, and this may seem a little naive on my part, you 00:04:12.65\00:04:16.79 can actually the same way you do with heroin, kind of melt it 00:04:16.82\00:04:20.06 down and shoot it, cocaine? 00:04:20.09\00:04:21.69 Coke, yeah, you just put water on it. 00:04:21.72\00:04:23.06 Wow, this is the first time that I've heard someone say that they 00:04:23.09\00:04:28.36 shot cocaine. Keep going. 00:04:28.40\00:04:30.67 This whole time from the age of 19 when I till my first prison 00:04:30.70\00:04:36.40 bit, that was like four years. And I've been in and out of 00:04:36.44\00:04:42.11 prison, you know, in and out, in and out from 19 up until, well 00:04:42.14\00:04:43.48 which I'll get to that, but. Yeah I started shooting and 00:04:43.51\00:04:48.85 playing around recreationally. My first son's mother died in a 00:04:48.88\00:04:53.79 house fire and it caught me pretty hard. So then I went 00:04:53.82\00:04:58.56 from playing around recreational to full blown getting high and I 00:04:58.59\00:05:03.67 was shooting everything and drinking everything and eating 00:05:03.70\00:05:06.40 every kind of pill. 00:05:06.43\00:05:07.77 So, back us up a little bit. So, from 15 to 19 it was an 00:05:07.80\00:05:11.87 experimental phase. At 19 was your first prison stay. How long 00:05:11.91\00:05:15.11 were you in jail? About four years. 00:05:15.14\00:05:16.48 What were you in jail for? 00:05:16.51\00:05:19.31 Battery and theft, like that. 00:05:19.35\00:05:22.08 Because again I'm hearing that you had a pretty decent 00:05:22.12\00:05:26.49 upbringing, up until 15. Was there some anger festering of 00:05:26.52\00:05:30.19 what contributed to you... I mean it was just like you know 00:05:30.23\00:05:33.66 the boys are hanging out, we get into a fight and you get stuck 00:05:33.70\00:05:36.87 with the wrap. What happened that landed you in prison. Take 00:05:36.90\00:05:40.84 us through that day that, Boom! you get accused of a crime and 00:05:40.87\00:05:44.77 you're guilty and you go to jail. What was that crime? 00:05:44.81\00:05:46.81 Take us through that day. 00:05:46.84\00:05:51.01 Always for me from 15 my best friend and I thought we would go 00:05:51.05\00:05:55.28 out and just fight. We loved to do that. We were just boys and 00:05:55.32\00:05:59.12 liked to be rough. We started fighting and then it became you 00:05:59.15\00:06:02.92 know... and then you start fighting a lot and then 00:06:02.96\00:06:05.69 everybody expects you to fight and then everybody's challenging 00:06:05.73\00:06:09.56 you so that becomes you know... So then you get in a fight and 00:06:09.60\00:06:13.23 then people... you get in trouble. And they press charges 00:06:13.27\00:06:16.87 that you beat someone up. 00:06:16.91\00:06:18.31 So you get in trouble. You beat somebody up bad enough that they 00:06:18.37\00:06:21.34 press charges. So you got into a fight with someone and beat 00:06:21.41\00:06:24.38 them up pretty bad and their recourse was to kind of... 00:06:24.41\00:06:28.98 And just where I'm from they just snitched on you. 00:06:29.02\00:06:33.02 Right. Just went and told. Probably 00:06:33.05\00:06:35.42 they wanted the fight. 00:06:35.46\00:06:36.79 They started it and wanted it. 00:06:36.83\00:06:38.16 They started the fight and wanted it. They didn't win and 00:06:38.19\00:06:39.53 so what they did was they went and ratted you out. And hey, now 00:06:39.56\00:06:43.57 we look back on it and say well we shouldn't be fighting. 00:06:43.60\00:06:45.50 Right. I'm not trying to speak 00:06:45.53\00:06:47.17 negatively of tell when things are done wrong, but nonetheless 00:06:47.24\00:06:52.27 in that lifestyle, we looked down on people who tell. 00:06:52.31\00:06:57.71 You know, there's a saying, there's a saying, I don't know 00:06:57.75\00:07:00.05 if you're familiar with this: Snitches get stitches. And so, 00:07:00.08\00:07:02.35 someone tells on you. Man, you beat him up pretty bad. 00:07:02.38\00:07:05.05 They tell you, you get four years first time offense? 00:07:05.12\00:07:07.72 So, tell us about that. I mean, you're going into court, you're 00:07:07.76\00:07:13.16 fighting this charge and boom the mallet slams, Guilty, Four 00:07:13.19\00:07:18.57 years. How are you feeling Bryan? 00:07:18.60\00:07:20.47 Sadly all my friends were locked up in jail, in prison, 00:07:20.50\00:07:24.51 so, you know, it's a game. When you're young you're silly. 00:07:24.54\00:07:28.51 You just take the ignorance from the street to prison with you. 00:07:28.54\00:07:33.75 The drugs are the same and better, the alcohol's there 00:07:33.78\00:07:38.69 so we're just having a big party in prison. 00:07:38.72\00:07:42.16 So, we're in prison for four years. We got the pruno. That's 00:07:42.19\00:07:47.26 a jailhouse liquor that they make from gasoline and fermented 00:07:47.30\00:07:52.33 fruit and such. You got the pruno, you got the cocaine, 00:07:52.37\00:07:57.51 you got the marijuana and you got you boys with you and you 00:07:57.54\00:08:02.61 guys are fighting, you're roughhousing in jail. 00:08:02.64\00:08:04.48 So, you didn't learn the lesson the first time, did you? No. 00:08:04.51\00:08:09.25 So you get out four years later. You haven't learned this lesson. 00:08:09.28\00:08:13.46 When do you meet the mother of your son? 00:08:13.49\00:08:16.96 When I first got out. 00:08:16.99\00:08:18.33 When you first got out. Tell us about that. 00:08:18.36\00:08:20.13 I met her and then we dated. We were just together, we just 00:08:20.16\00:08:23.83 never got married because I wasn't serious. I knew I wasn't 00:08:23.87\00:08:27.54 done going to jail or prison. 00:08:27.57\00:08:29.40 Right. Wait, wait, wait a minute. This is part and parcel 00:08:29.44\00:08:34.81 of what we call an institutional mindset. You got out and said 00:08:34.84\00:08:38.48 that's not the last time I'm going back. Right. 00:08:38.51\00:08:39.85 You know, I had some uncles who would spend time in jail. They'd 00:08:39.88\00:08:45.49 come out and they'd call coming out to the streets vacation. So, 00:08:45.55\00:08:51.19 they'd go on vacation on the streets and they'd just do 00:08:51.23\00:08:53.40 anything just to go right back in jail. So you walked out of 00:08:53.43\00:08:56.13 prison and said, hey, I want to go back there. 00:08:56.16\00:08:59.50 I knew I was going to go back because I was crazier than 00:08:59.53\00:09:03.10 before I went in after I got out. So you just know you're 00:09:03.14\00:09:06.64 going to end up back in trouble. 00:09:06.68\00:09:08.01 So, take us back to meeting your son's mother. 00:09:08.04\00:09:10.38 I met her and then at a factory we started working. I was 00:09:10.41\00:09:15.08 actually working a good job. Things got crazy. I'm doing all 00:09:15.12\00:09:19.15 the coke. I mean, I'm banging and shooting it in. Then I run 00:09:19.19\00:09:23.19 across something called meth, crystal meth, you know. 00:09:23.22\00:09:26.76 And after you do coke for so long even if you're shooting 00:09:26.80\00:09:30.70 you still can't get that, you know. So somebody introduced me 00:09:30.77\00:09:34.60 to meth. Boy I liked it so much I was like I got to learn how to 00:09:34.64\00:09:38.44 make this because I can't... I want to buy it. 00:09:38.47\00:09:40.14 Wow Bryan. So you tried meth. After the first few times you're 00:09:40.18\00:09:45.48 saying hey I got to open a meth factory. So, you have this new 00:09:45.51\00:09:50.79 girlfriend, you guys are dating. Is she a user as well. 00:09:50.82\00:09:55.32 A drinker and yeah and she started on the meth... 00:09:55.36\00:09:58.29 OK, so, now we go in at 19. Four years later, you're about 20, 00:09:58.36\00:10:02.73 19, 20, 21, 22, about 23 years old. You get out. You're running 00:10:02.76\00:10:07.10 a meth lab with this girlfriend of yours. 00:10:07.14\00:10:08.50 Well, after a few years after that I'd been out. 00:10:08.54\00:10:11.41 OK, so, walk us through that. 00:10:11.44\00:10:12.77 Then after a while, I think 1996 or so I meet this guy who shows 00:10:12.81\00:10:17.31 me how to make meth. I stayed on it, you know. Once I first did 00:10:17.35\00:10:21.58 it and it is true, like they say, you do it and you're hooked 00:10:21.62\00:10:27.12 immediately. He teaches me how to make it. Then I just spun out 00:10:27.16\00:10:31.36 of the world, and crazy spun out and then in 1998 she dies. 00:10:31.39\00:10:35.53 And that's what I want to get to. Does she die in a meth 00:10:35.56\00:10:39.70 house. No, no. OK, just a house fire. 00:10:39.73\00:10:42.07 Yeah, my brother's house caught on fire. My brother and I were 00:10:42.10\00:10:46.01 in a different town partying. His wife and my girlfriend were 00:10:46.07\00:10:49.14 at their house. They were drinking doing pills and we were 00:10:49.21\00:10:52.21 in another place tweaking and doing speed. She dies. Then life 00:10:52.28\00:10:58.35 gets kind of crazy after that and I just get out of control. 00:10:58.39\00:11:02.36 It's not when you want to kill yourself but you don't care what 00:11:02.39\00:11:06.93 you do. As you separate yourself from Christ, OK, the further you 00:11:06.96\00:11:11.20 separate the more the void gets so the darker the despair gets 00:11:11.23\00:11:15.27 and you don't realize when you're living in sin that's what 00:11:15.30\00:11:19.34 happens. So I was just separating myself further and 00:11:19.37\00:11:21.28 further. The further I got, the darker and the lonelier I was. 00:11:21.34\00:11:24.05 It didn't matter how high I was you know. 00:11:24.08\00:11:25.41 And what about the son, your son? What about him? 00:11:25.48\00:11:30.12 He's locked up right now. He gets taken to his grandmother's 00:11:30.15\00:11:34.46 and I see him for a while and she stops by and I see him of 00:11:34.49\00:11:38.79 course. Because I'm out of control, I'm in and out of 00:11:38.83\00:11:41.70 prison so she's like man you're not going to keep hurting him. 00:11:41.76\00:11:46.23 Right. So, he follows his dad's footsteps. Yeah. Selling drugs, 00:11:46.27\00:11:50.71 using drugs. Yeah and partying a little bit. 00:11:50.74\00:11:52.41 He's in jail currently? Yeah. How long? Four years. 00:11:52.44\00:11:58.08 We're going to come back to him. So, partying hard, okay here's 00:11:58.11\00:12:05.02 the picture. This kid grows up, good family, good upbringing, 00:12:05.05\00:12:11.89 Christian family, brother, sister, seems like you have 00:12:11.93\00:12:18.30 everything. You hit high school. Want to be cool. We start with 00:12:18.33\00:12:20.54 the alcohol, we start with the marijuana, we start with the 00:12:20.57\00:12:23.51 coke. Next thing you know we're fighting, we're angry, we're 00:12:23.57\00:12:26.47 mad. You and your friends, you're fighting every night, 00:12:26.51\00:12:29.18 you're having a good time, partying hard, boom, land in 00:12:29.21\00:12:32.38 jail for four years. Come out, and typically we come out of 00:12:32.41\00:12:35.58 jail with better connections, you know, come out with better 00:12:35.62\00:12:38.55 connections. You come out with a deeper understanding of what 00:12:38.59\00:12:41.79 you really want to do which is tear down the world probably. 00:12:41.82\00:12:44.59 You meet a girl, nice girl. You guys start using together. 00:12:44.66\00:12:47.93 Three or so years in you run into meth, you're running a meth 00:12:47.96\00:12:52.83 lab, you got this kid now and boom it all falls down. She dies 00:12:52.87\00:12:58.57 in a house fire. Tell me what was going on in your mind now 00:12:58.61\00:13:03.24 when this woman... I mean, quite possibly had you had the 00:13:03.31\00:13:07.88 opportunity and gotten yourself together, you may have married 00:13:07.92\00:13:11.32 her. What's going on in your mind when you get the news? 00:13:11.35\00:13:13.56 So, you're over here, you and your brother. You guys are 00:13:13.59\00:13:17.13 partying. You get the word, she's died in a fire. Walk us 00:13:17.16\00:13:20.70 through that emotion. 00:13:20.73\00:13:22.86 Oh man, of course, I mean, it tore me up, it tore me up. 00:13:22.90\00:13:27.10 I just went crazy. I mean shooting, drinking, partying, 00:13:27.14\00:13:32.41 insane. Introduced my brother and of course introduced my 00:13:32.44\00:13:36.41 brother. I mean he's already partying with me. Then I shoot 00:13:36.44\00:13:41.08 him up one time. So then he gets into it. This is 1998. Then in 00:13:41.12\00:13:46.62 2002 I get a call that he's down in Kentucky, man he's in the 00:13:46.65\00:13:51.16 intensive care, because he's OD'd. So I go down there for 00:13:51.19\00:13:55.63 nine days and set with him and just watch him die. 00:13:55.66\00:13:59.63 Wow! So, the brother you introduced to meth dies. 00:13:59.67\00:14:03.61 I'm sure this is another spiral, right? Take us through the first 00:14:03.64\00:14:09.44 time you OD'd Well after he died then I'm in 00:14:09.48\00:14:15.32 and out, in and out, in and out. Then I just really get out of 00:14:15.35\00:14:21.19 control then. I mean, like I said, the void's deeper. It's so 00:14:21.22\00:14:25.69 deep now that I'm doing grams, a gram and a half at a shot, in 00:14:25.73\00:14:32.50 one shot. Then one time I was messing around, I was dumping 00:14:32.53\00:14:36.84 some and then I was tweaked out. I didn't want my girlfriend to 00:14:36.91\00:14:41.18 catch me so I accidentally dumped in about 2-2/1 grams and 00:14:41.21\00:14:48.62 I did it and I knew right then. I hit the floor, man got cold 00:14:48.65\00:14:54.52 water going and stuff. Then they take me to the emergency room. 00:14:54.56\00:15:01.46 So, wait. I got to get this. So, boom you slam 2 grams, 2-1/2 00:15:01.50\00:15:08.34 grams, pow. And the moment it hits you, you know oh my 00:15:08.37\00:15:11.67 goodness, on the floor now. They're throwing the cold water 00:15:11.71\00:15:16.34 on you. Call the ambulance. They rush you to the hospital. We're 00:15:16.41\00:15:20.15 in the hospital. What are you thinking on the ride to the 00:15:20.18\00:15:21.78 hospital? What are you thinking on the ride to the hospital? 00:15:21.82\00:15:24.05 I'm just thinking I want to go to sleep. That's how... I mean 00:15:24.09\00:15:26.29 I was hurting so bad and everything was locking up and 00:15:26.32\00:15:29.36 they was like don't go to sleep, don't go to sleep. Then I get 00:15:29.39\00:15:32.39 in the ER in Wabash, they take my blood pressure and it's like 00:15:32.43\00:15:37.47 34/22 and they're like man you need to get to Ft. Wayne, you're 00:15:37.53\00:15:42.54 going to die. So they're bringing me up there and get me 00:15:42.57\00:15:48.61 going and then I'm coming to in and out, but I'm so high off the 00:15:48.64\00:15:51.81 meth for five days. You know, they're trying to bring me down 00:15:51.85\00:15:55.68 I mean, but I can't see and I just remember my mom and my 00:15:55.72\00:15:59.25 grandma and their preacher just locked up and praying and 00:15:59.29\00:16:02.69 praying and praying. My whole left side was completely dead 00:16:02.72\00:16:06.59 from the stroke and my heart is down to 25%, my kidneys 00:16:06.63\00:16:11.73 completely failed because I got complete renal failure. 00:16:11.77\00:16:16.77 I remember I'm praying honey and this is the power of prayer. 00:16:16.81\00:16:19.77 You're praying that? I'm not, they are. Even for a 00:16:19.81\00:16:22.08 even though I'm a lost sinner the prayers of the righteous are 00:16:22.11\00:16:26.11 heard. And they went through. They were praying over me and 00:16:26.18\00:16:30.12 mom was like save him, bring him Lord, bring him back. I remember 00:16:30.15\00:16:35.66 all that. Two-and-a-half months I'm up in intensive care unit 00:16:35.69\00:16:41.16 You were in ICU for 2-1/2 months Keep going, keep going. 00:16:41.20\00:16:48.20 I got complete kidney failure you know. That much meth killed 00:16:48.24\00:16:54.88 them at one time. So I'm on kidney dialysis. I get out. This 00:16:54.94\00:16:59.81 is crazy. This is drugs. I get out and I've got a shunt right 00:16:59.85\00:17:04.19 here that they hook up to do your blood for kidney. Well I'm 00:17:04.22\00:17:08.16 sitting at home two months later and I think man I'll take the 00:17:08.19\00:17:12.63 cap off and I'll shoot up into it because it won't take as much 00:17:12.66\00:17:17.10 so it will stay in my heart. If I do this not very much it 00:17:17.13\00:17:20.44 stay in my heart, bam, drops me. I'm back up there in intensive 00:17:20.47\00:17:24.21 care for a couple of months. That's crazy. 00:17:24.24\00:17:26.47 Wow! So, now you hear your mom, her pastor, your grandma praying 00:17:26.51\00:17:35.52 in and out, in and out, and you're thinking to yourself 00:17:35.55\00:17:42.12 what? I just want to go to sleep? You get out and you 00:17:42.16\00:17:48.66 decide that you want to shoot into the cord that is attached 00:17:48.73\00:17:54.10 to your heart. You shoot into that. What happens? 00:17:54.14\00:17:58.14 It drops me. I mean, it's straight into my heart and 00:17:58.17\00:18:01.31 there's no vein to go through or nothing; it just goes 00:18:01.34\00:18:04.41 straight in and I hit the floor. This is another time that the 00:18:04.48\00:18:08.28 Lord... I mean, because I didn't get the cap back on so I 00:18:08.32\00:18:11.09 bleed out on the floor. But the doctors there said that because 00:18:11.12\00:18:15.26 it was so cool in the house and I was on the linoleum, that's 00:18:15.29\00:18:19.79 the reason I didn't die. Because if I'd have lost like half of 00:18:19.83\00:18:24.27 another pint of blood I would have died. 00:18:24.30\00:18:27.87 So, this is the second OD. Yeah. When did you flat line? Did you 00:18:27.90\00:18:35.54 flat line the first time you OD'd? 00:18:35.58\00:18:36.91 The first time, yeah. 00:18:36.95\00:18:38.31 Flat lined. Dead, pronounced dead. Did they tell you how long 00:18:38.35\00:18:41.55 you were dead? Well I mean they just said that 00:18:41.58\00:18:44.12 you stopped your heart. They were so concerned with getting 00:18:44.19\00:18:47.69 me back. So was this the first time you 00:18:47.72\00:18:50.29 died? Yeah. 00:18:50.33\00:18:51.66 Now listen to what I'm saying to you Bryan. This is the first 00:18:51.69\00:18:54.46 time you died? Do you die another time after this? 00:18:54.50\00:18:57.87 Well the second time I OD'd, the second time it happened, I don't 00:18:57.93\00:19:03.27 know flat line. They had to revive me and stuff like that. 00:19:03.30\00:19:08.38 Wow, wow! Do mom and grandma and pastor show up again? 00:19:08.41\00:19:12.55 They're up there every day praying. The power of prayer 00:19:12.58\00:19:16.85 you know what that says. The power of prayer even over the 00:19:16.89\00:19:21.06 sinner, the unrighteous. I mean the prayers of the righteous are 00:19:21.12\00:19:23.53 heard by the Lord. 00:19:23.56\00:19:24.89 The prayers of the righteous man availeth much. Yeah, Yeah. 00:19:24.93\00:19:28.50 So we come out of this second OD. Have we learned our lesson? 00:19:28.53\00:19:32.23 No. Come on, walk us through that. 00:19:32.27\00:19:36.34 Still partying. Of course they turned me loose from the 00:19:36.37\00:19:38.17 hospital with a bunch of oxys and Dilaudid and stuff which are 00:19:38.24\00:19:42.88 really good banging drugs, doing drugs. So my girlfriend at 00:19:42.91\00:19:46.78 the time sees the stuff and she just starts bawling. I mean, 00:19:46.82\00:19:50.55 she's like, man, they're trying to kill you. Which they don't 00:19:50.59\00:19:55.36 know, the doctors don't. Then I'm in and out of jail a couple 00:19:55.39\00:19:59.89 more times. Then I catch myself. I stop shooting dope, I stop 00:19:59.93\00:20:04.47 drinking, I'm just eating pills now. I'm working seven days a 00:20:04.50\00:20:08.77 week for over a year. Then a friend of mine wants to make 00:20:08.80\00:20:13.01 some meth and wants some help. So I'm like I don't mess around 00:20:13.07\00:20:16.34 anymore but the guy that I get the pills from does. So he said 00:20:16.38\00:20:19.85 OK I'll help you out a little bit. Well it all falls apart of 00:20:19.88\00:20:23.32 course, which is the Lord's doing. Setting block ways in 00:20:23.35\00:20:27.19 the way before I get crazy again And it falls apart and I'm 00:20:27.22\00:20:31.09 sitting in jail and I'm facing 50 years. Well I get up to go 00:20:31.13\00:20:35.00 to get arraignment and they're reading off the charges and they 00:20:35.16\00:20:39.17 say OK you're up to 20 years. You know you're facing the B 00:20:39.20\00:20:43.94 felony up to 20 years. The judge stops and says, No, no, the only 00:20:43.97\00:20:47.04 plea bargain you can take Mr. Myers, is I'll let you plead the 00:20:47.08\00:20:50.11 20 years, nothing else. No one pleads from Jump Street. 00:20:50.15\00:20:53.15 Stop right there. I want to go back to the 15-year-old kid from 00:20:53.18\00:20:59.72 Indiana, life of drinking, life of pot, violence, four year 00:20:59.75\00:21:06.23 prison sentence, 00:21:06.26\00:21:07.60 gets out, starts banging meth meets a girl, the girl dies, 00:21:07.63\00:21:13.00 starts banging more meth, gets a cause, watches his brother die 00:21:13.03\00:21:20.21 the brother he introduces, watches him die, OD's a couple 00:21:20.24\00:21:24.48 times, flat line, boom, he's dead, is revived through the 00:21:24.51\00:21:31.02 power of prayer. Yes. So then you go back again pulled in to 00:21:31.05\00:21:37.39 help someone out you get caught. You're sitting in jail now and 00:21:37.43\00:21:43.73 the only plea the judge will accept from Bryan Myers is 20 00:21:43.77\00:21:49.27 years. Don't say anything else to me but I'll take 20 years, 00:21:49.30\00:21:54.41 your Honor. What goes through your mind at that moment Bryan? 00:21:54.44\00:21:59.78 That I'm hit. That I'm hit. The prosecutor's wanting to give me 00:21:59.81\00:22:04.62 the _ on top of that which is 30, up to 30, you know, 00:22:04.65\00:22:09.42 so that's a 50. So I'm like wow. 00:22:09.46\00:22:11.86 So what happens 'cause you're sitting here right now. 00:22:11.89\00:22:15.03 I go back over to the jail and I'm staying there and it takes a 00:22:15.06\00:22:19.63 few weeks. And this is the power of God, OK? It's so important 00:22:19.67\00:22:23.34 of planting seeds, you know what I mean, 'cause that seed was 00:22:23.37\00:22:26.68 planted in my heart when I was a kid from my parents, they sent 00:22:26.71\00:22:30.55 me to church. So when I hit rock bottom I know the only where 00:22:30.58\00:22:34.68 else to go is turn to Christ. I say man Lord. I start looking 00:22:34.72\00:22:38.79 up the Bible, which I didn't know any power, no personal 00:22:38.82\00:22:42.32 relationship with Christ. I just knew if I followed these 10 00:22:42.36\00:22:46.59 commandments, if I ever got out if I ever got out, if I just 00:22:46.63\00:22:50.63 followed these commandments I won't be back. So that's where 00:22:50.67\00:22:54.37 I started. And I started reading and praying, and reading and 00:22:54.40\00:22:58.07 praying. How long were you in jail? 00:22:58.11\00:23:01.44 That whole time 3-1/2 years. Three-and-a-half years and then 00:23:01.48\00:23:05.85 you're released. You should be in there for 20 years. You 00:23:05.91\00:23:10.29 should be in there for 50 years. You do 3-1/2 years, you're 00:23:10.32\00:23:12.89 reading the Bible, you're getting a personal relationship 00:23:12.92\00:23:15.46 with Jesus. The seeds that were planted by your family before 00:23:16.22\00:23:18.36 you were 15, before this tumultuous life took place, 00:23:18.39\00:23:21.00 before the devil got a hold of you and separated you from God 00:23:21.03\00:23:24.43 you spent 3-1/2 years getting back. Now do you realize the 00:23:24.47\00:23:27.70 significance of the three... Come on now. Jesus was here for 00:23:27.74\00:23:30.94 3-1/2 years. So 3-1/2 years you get into this personal 00:23:30.97\00:23:33.48 relationship with Christ and instead of 10 years, instead of 00:23:33.51\00:23:38.85 15 years, instead of 20 years, instead of the 50 years, you do 00:23:38.88\00:23:44.22 3-1/2 years and you're back on the street. When was that? 00:23:44.25\00:23:48.19 In 2008 but let me back up. The same judge and prosecutor... 00:23:48.22\00:23:53.46 People think that man controls things, but the Lord controls 00:23:53.50\00:23:57.90 what he wants, because the same judge and same prosecutor a 00:23:57.93\00:24:02.10 year-and-a-half later come down... Up until two days before 00:24:02.14\00:24:05.94 this the same thing, no pleas, no pleas, then all of a sudden 00:24:05.97\00:24:09.38 the Lord moves and they say come down there and they say I get 00:24:09.41\00:24:12.78 a 5-1/2-year plea bargain. But I got in some trouble in there 00:24:12.81\00:24:16.75 in the beginning so I had to do some extra time. But that's what 00:24:16.79\00:24:20.66 the Lord did. The Lord has final say so in everything. 00:24:20.69\00:24:22.82 Yes he does. So in 2008 you get out, 2008. 00:24:22.86\00:24:25.86 Right before I get out, OK, which I'm getting strong in the 00:24:25.89\00:24:30.50 Lord and a guy at Westrow is J. Lawson, administrator, he 00:24:30.53\00:24:35.20 said what are you going to do when you get out, Bryan. And I 00:24:35.24\00:24:39.17 say man with all my heart the Lord's calling me back into the 00:24:39.21\00:24:43.11 ministry. Come on. 00:24:43.14\00:24:44.48 He says well that's good. He's like but you know you have to 00:24:44.51\00:24:47.72 wait two years before you can go back into a jail or a prison. 00:24:47.75\00:24:52.22 And I say, the Lord's calling me into the ministry and I get out 00:24:52.25\00:24:56.29 2008. A week later I'm going back down to my jail to minister 00:24:56.32\00:25:00.13 Come on, come on. The power of God, the power of prayer. Your 00:25:00.16\00:25:03.97 life is a testimony to the power of prayer, the power of 00:25:04.00\00:25:07.27 God and the fact that God removes kings and sets up kings. 00:25:07.30\00:25:10.91 He is the one who has the final say in everything going on in 00:25:10.94\00:25:14.31 our lives as individuals as well as on a global scale and that 00:25:14.34\00:25:17.18 is what your testimony tells us. So here's what I need you 00:25:17.21\00:25:19.81 to do. Real quick, about a minute, I want you to look over 00:25:19.85\00:25:22.38 my left shoulder here and I want you to speak to someone, speak 00:25:22.45\00:25:25.59 to someone, right here, right over my left shoulder, I want 00:25:25.62\00:25:29.29 you to speak to someone who is lost in their life where they 00:25:29.32\00:25:32.93 feel there's no hope. 00:25:32.96\00:25:34.76 Our hope is in Christ Jesus. Even though I lost my family, 00:25:34.80\00:25:37.97 my brother and sister, to the devil, my mother and father 00:25:38.00\00:25:41.27 passed away, the Lord has restored a new family to me. 00:25:41.30\00:25:44.71 He gave me a beautiful wife, three beautiful boys, allowed 00:25:44.74\00:25:48.21 me to be part of a ministry at the jail that I done all the 00:25:48.24\00:25:52.05 crazy trouble that I've been in in our town. I've been in the 00:25:52.08\00:25:56.79 ministry for about 3-1/2 years now. Any hope that we have could 00:25:56.82\00:26:00.52 only be in Christ. It doesn't matter where you've come from, 00:26:00.56\00:26:04.09 or what you've been through, or the trouble you've been in, 00:26:04.13\00:26:07.16 or the needle that you're on, or the drugs that you're on, or 00:26:07.20\00:26:10.53 the pills that you're eating or the bottle you're on, man all 00:26:10.57\00:26:13.34 you got to do is just make a willing decision to turn your 00:26:13.40\00:26:16.24 life over to Christ and ask him to come into your heart and to 00:26:16.27\00:26:19.54 help you through it and if you do this with a complete sincere 00:26:19.57\00:26:22.81 heart he will. He shows no favorites. He loves no one no 00:26:22.84\00:26:26.08 more than anybody else. He's no respecter of persons. 00:26:26.11\00:26:29.28 He loves us just as much as he loved King David and that alone 00:26:29.32\00:26:33.66 makes you feel, wow man, if he can love me as much as that guy, 00:26:33.72\00:26:38.03 King David, his favorite. 00:26:38.06\00:26:39.39 Man, man, Bryan that was so powerful.
