by the name of Nebuchadnezzar.

Nebuchadnezzar

is the leading
monarch of the world

at this time in history.

There's no king as great as
Nebuchadnezzar at this time.

He is the greatest of all kings.

And it says that one night

he had a dream,

that dream made a
profound impression

upon Nebuchadnezzar.

And when he woke
up the next morning,

he knew that he had had a
very, very important dream.

But for the life of
him, he couldn't recall it,

tried but he couldn't recall it

but yet he knew

And so he called in
all of his wise men,

called them in and told
them that he had had a dream,

Now what you got

is these wise men
that he's called in,

in interpreting dreams.

anything other than dreams.

And so he called
them in and said,

"Tell me, tell

And they said, "Well, king,

and we'll tell
you what it means."

Nebuchadnezzar
said, "I'll tell you what,

you tell me what I dreamed

and then I know for sure
you can tell me what it means."

And they said,
"King, the gods up in heaven

wouldn't even
make such a request."

They said, "There's
no way for us to tell you

they're nothing
but a bunch of pawns,

get rid of the whole bunch."

And thus the scripture reads.

"So the decree went out

and they began
killing the wise men."

I mean, he sent
out decree and said,

"Get rid of all of them."

started killing the wise men.

Daniel and his companions

Well, you see Nebuchadnezzar
when he had gone down

and had overthrown Israel,

he had the captain of his guard

get about 70 of the
young men of Israel,

intelligent young men

and had them
brought back to Babylon

to study there in the courts

to serve in the
court of the king

as wise men.

Four of these
young men were special,

their names was Daniel,
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

They were very, very special.

They had been found
to be 10 times wiser

than all the other wise men
of Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom.

But when Nebuchadnezzar
called in his wise men,

because they were young,

school, got an education

got out of college,

you know what they said,

they said, "Well, you really,

till you get some experience.

be able to do anything."

And so then I said, "Okay."

And then when I
got the experience

they said, "Oh, you're too old."

Ain't that the way
that goes, you know?

So they didn't
bring in these young men,

they were novices,
they were just too young,

but when
Nebuchadnezzar gave their decree

to kill all of
them, he included them.

And so they sought
Daniel and his companions

to kill them.

Now, Daniel did something

that you and I need to
look at very, very careful

because Daniel asked if
he could have time to pray.
