" 01:20:51 Praise the God. 01:20:53 Glory hallelujah... 01:20:57 praise His lovely name. 01:21:02 Audience: Praise His lovely name. 01:21:07 Amen... 01:21:09 In 1991, towards the end of the year, 01:21:15 I received a phone call from Elder John Carter 01:21:19 and he asked me, 01:21:20 "Danny, would you and 3ABN want to go to Russia with me?" 01:21:24 In Russian... 01:21:31 he said, "I'm going to preach in Moscow. 01:21:36 I already have a hall rented, 01:21:41 it's a great hall... 01:21:43 and I'll be able to preach the gospel for weeks in Moscow. " 01:21:50 This almost took my breath away. 01:21:55 I was born in 1951. 01:22:00 That's during the Cold War. 01:22:05 Have the Russians ever heard of the term "Cold War?" 01:22:11 Audience: Yes. 01:22:12 While the United States and Russia worked together 01:22:15 in World War 2, 01:22:22 shortly after... they became an arms race 01:22:25 in Russian... 01:22:33 both countries wanting to be the super power of the world 01:22:42 so, I grew up during the Cold War Era. 01:22:47 I knew about the wall. 01:22:52 Anybody ever heard the term Wall... the Communist Wall? 01:22:59 Yes, we all have, 01:23:01 it was a wall... divided us from being Brothers and sisters 01:23:09 and then we saw on television when the physical wall fell 01:23:17 and then we saw when the wall fell in Eastern Block countries 01:23:22 Russia included... the Ex-Soviet Union. 01:23:24 In Russian... 01:23:34 When the Lord said, "Go ye in to all the world... " 01:23:42 we at 3ABN went forward 01:23:49 but there was always a question in my mind, 01:23:53 "How are we going to reach the people behind the wall... 01:23:56 "the Iron Curtain" they called it. 01:24:03 How are we going to reach all those people 01:24:05 with the gospel, we can't come in 01:24:06 In Russian... 01:24:12 but God had other plans. 01:24:15 Elder Carter said, "Danny, would you come with us to Russia? 01:24:21 He said, "Do you want to pray about it?" 01:24:27 I said, "I don't need to... 01:24:30 Jesus said, 'Go ye into all the world... '" 01:24:36 so, in May of 1992, 01:24:41 we brought over a lot of television equipment. 01:24:47 Elder Carter rented the "Palace of Sports" 01:24:53 I had the privilege of going there yesterday, 01:24:58 lot of changes on the outside... 01:25:02 but it still brought back memories of all of you 01:25:05 coming night after night to the meetings. 01:25:07 In Russian... 01:25:15 We were so privileged to join hands with Elder Carter. 01:25:18 In Russian... 01:25:24 We had no idea that at the end of the meetings, 01:25:30 there would be 2,532 of you 01:25:34 to be baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church... 01:25:36 into Jesus and the Church. 01:25:38 In Russian... 01:25:48 I need to hear somebody talk back to me right now. 01:25:53 That sounds like a "Praise the Lord" to me. 01:25:58 Audience: Praise the Lord. 01:26:01 Going to the Volga River... 01:26:03 watching pastors... 27 pastors for four hours at a time 01:26:08 baptizing people. 01:26:16 In Russian... 01:26:23 Even though it was late May, it was still fairly cold 01:26:31 but for you who went under the water, it was much more cold. 01:26:35 In Russian... 01:26:43 How many of you were baptized in the Volga? 01:26:48 Look at all these hands baptized... 01:26:53 that's another "Praise the Lord" 01:26:57 that's another "Glory Hallelujah. " 01:27:00 After the baptisms 01:27:04 Elder Basile Stolya 01:27:08 he was the Conference President 01:27:12 in this Region, 01:27:13 came to me and said, "We have a big problem. " 01:27:19 I couldn't imagine a problem, there were about 200 members 01:27:22 in Nizhny... 01:27:25 in Russian... 01:27:27 and now you just add 2,532 new members... 01:27:31 in Russian... 01:27:37 "What's the problem?" I asked him. 01:27:42 "I have no place to put 2,500 people... " 01:27:45 in Russian... 01:27:53 just a year before, 1991... 01:27:59 they built a new church. 01:28:04 Shevchenko Church... 01:28:08 While they were deciding to build 01:28:16 the Conference Leader said, "How big should we build it? 01:28:25 We have about 50 members right now, 01:28:31 but let's think big... 01:28:35 let's think out-of-the-box... 01:28:40 let's build for the future, 01:28:45 let's build a church that will hold at least 200 people. " 01:28:53 So, the beautiful church was built 01:28:57 holding nearly 200 people 01:29:01 and Pastor Basile said to me, 01:29:05 "I can't get 2,532 people in that church, 01:29:13 can you help us?" 01:29:17 Now, I knew very little about Russia... 01:29:21 only what I heard... 01:29:23 when I came here, I found much of it wasn't true. 01:29:25 In Russian... 01:29:32 I found you the Russian people to be some of the kindest, 01:29:35 gentlest people that I had ever met 01:29:38 In Russian... 01:29:48 and you showed your love and your support night after night 01:29:50 at the Carter Meetings. 01:29:57 You brought flowers and you brought gifts. 01:30:03 You always made us feel so welcomed 01:30:08 but I didn't know much about how the Government operated 01:30:15 so, I said, "Can we build something? 01:30:17 Can we buy something?" 01:30:26 I had not realized that Nizhny Novgorod 01:30:32 was one of the first regions in all of the Ex-Soviet Union 01:30:40 to allow companies to privatize property. 01:30:50 Basically, the owner leases long-term from the Government. 01:30:58 So, the Pastor said to me... he along with Pastor Alexander, 01:31:07 yes... and are a number of... of... 01:31:09 they said buildings... that had been started construction on 01:31:13 approximately 20 years ago 01:31:15 in Russian... 01:31:25 but none of those are finished. 01:31:30 They said, "We could, maybe, rent something" 01:31:36 and I said, "Let's try to buy something... 01:31:42 let's build something. " 01:31:44 So, they said, "Well, we can look around in the city 01:31:47 and find properties. " 01:31:52 So, out of 11 construction sites 01:31:59 of big unfinished buildings... 01:32:02 we looked at several. 01:32:06 None of them seemed to really fit 01:32:08 what I felt we could build and do 01:32:11 In Russian... 01:32:17 Then in reference to the Pastor's comments 01:32:20 about the "puddle of water" 01:32:26 I'm going to talk to you about divine providence. 01:32:35 We don't believe in coincidence. 01:32:39 Do you believe in divine providence? 01:32:44 When Jesus was on the cross, you were on His mind 01:32:47 in Russian... 01:32:53 and He's constantly creating ways for your salvation. 01:32:57 In Russian... 01:33:03 Jeremiah says, "He has plans to prosper us. " 01:33:05 In Russian... 01:33:12 Not only physically but spiritually. 01:33:18 God wants us to do great and mighty and marvelous things 01:33:22 when we come in His name. 01:33:30 So we were driving down the highway... 01:33:33 right out front here... this highway. 01:33:36 What's the name of this highway? 01:33:39 We were driving on this highway, 01:33:43 and there had been a lot of water. 01:33:46 It was flooding over the curb 01:33:51 and the water was so high 01:33:56 that when we drove through it, 01:33:59 water came up into the engine apparently 01:34:03 and the car stopped... 01:34:05 the car stopped... 01:34:08 my first trip to Russia... 01:34:11 and I'm stranded in the middle of a road... 01:34:16 I have no idea where I am... 01:34:19 don't even really know where we're going... 01:34:23 but God had a plan in mind. 01:34:27 When the car stopped and flooded, 01:34:31 we got out and stepped through the water 01:34:33 up onto the grass 01:34:39 and as I turned around behind me, 01:34:42 this is what I saw... 01:34:46 this is what I saw. 01:34:50 A big building. 01:34:54 It didn't look like this, 01:34:59 it didn't look like this... 01:35:05 it looked like this... 01:35:08 I began to... they were getting the car fixed, 01:35:10 someone to fix the car, 01:35:16 so, I started going through the trees, 01:35:21 I said, "This building is huge... 01:35:26 is this building for sale?" 01:35:30 "Oh, you couldn't afford this building... " 01:35:36 I said, "But this would be perfect. " 01:35:41 And they said, "But this building is so huge. " 01:35:44 I said, "But God can supply the need, I'm sure He can. " 01:35:52 We began to walk around and walk around this huge facility, 01:36:00 I knew right then... God had chosen this place 01:36:03 in Russian... 01:36:10 for the 3ABN Russian Center 01:36:15 and a Facility that would hold a lot of the new members. 01:36:23 We were able to purchase the building. 01:36:27 When I met with the President at the Russia Hotel, 01:36:34 there was an American man that had come to the meetings, 01:36:41 I had not met him 01:36:44 and right before my meeting with the Russian Leaders, 01:36:51 he came to me and asked me 01:36:53 if he could do a little interview with me 01:36:55 in Russian... 01:36:58 and I said, "I'm sorry, I can't right now, 01:37:02 I'm waiting on the Conference President to come in, 01:37:04 I have a meeting with him. " 01:37:08 The American man graciously said, 01:37:10 "Oh, I'm sorry for bothering you... " 01:37:14 and I said, "Oh no, you're no bother... " 01:37:18 right then I saw Basile Stolya coming in and Alexander... 01:37:28 as I started to meet them, 01:37:33 I looked at the man and I said.. I was feeling bad by then... 01:37:42 I said, "Come and sit with us. " 01:37:45 "Oh no... no... " he said, "it's okay. " 01:37:47 "No, no, no, please... come and sit with us, 01:37:52 we're talking about how to house all the members... 01:37:55 the new members baptized. " 01:38:00 He sat there quietly, 01:38:05 and I asked Pastor Alexander Antonok 01:38:10 how much would it cost to build... to buy that facility? 01:38:18 "Tremendous amounts of money" he said. 01:38:22 Now, a lot of you Russians remember 1992... 01:38:31 Julia was a Professor at the English Language School. 01:38:33 In Russian... 01:38:43 She was making about 15 or 20 dollars a month. 01:38:49 Not a day... not a week... but a month... 01:38:53 how many of you remember those days? 01:38:57 Hmmm... hmmm... 01:38:58 the young kids have no idea, do they? 01:39:04 It was a lot of money, he told me. 01:39:09 He said it would probably cost as much as a $100,000 01:39:16 and that's to buy this unfinished building. 01:39:23 It could take a million dollars or more to finish it. 01:39:32 "But I think we could buy it for about a 100,000," he said. 01:39:35 100,000 dollars... 01:39:39 in Russian... 01:39:49 So, I said, "I'll go back to America and go on television 01:39:54 In Russian... 01:40:00 and I'll ask our American Brothers and Sisters 01:40:03 to help buy this Facility. " 01:40:12 The man sitting next to me that I didn't know... the American... 01:40:15 in Russian... 01:40:22 I looked at him and I said, "I think we can raise that money 01:40:25 through our Viewers" 01:40:31 and he nodded his head... 01:40:34 then he nodded his head again... 01:40:37 I said, "I think he's trying to tell me something... " 01:40:44 I said, "Are you trying to tell me something?" 01:40:50 His name was Manny... 01:40:52 Manny Trevs... 01:40:54 he said, "Yes. " 01:40:56 I said, "You have the $100,000 to purchase this Facility?" 01:41:06 He said, "Now I know why God brought me to Russia. " 01:41:15 He came by himself... 01:41:18 watched the meetings on 3ABN... 01:41:23 decided to fly to Nizhny Novgorod 01:41:31 and he was an Usher at the meetings. 01:41:39 When you came in, he seated you. 01:41:46 Now, he's seated beside me 01:41:48 telling me that he will give the first $100,000. 01:41:55 I should be hearing somebody talk back to me by now, 01:42:01 Audience: Praise the Lord. 01:42:03 Praise the Lord, right? 01:42:04 Praise the Lord, is that coincidence 01:42:05 or is that Divine Providence? 01:42:09 Audience: Divine Providence. 01:42:11 Divine Providence, right, 01:42:13 I have reason to believe in miracles 01:42:16 like the dawn expects the sun... 01:42:17 in Russian... 01:42:29 and I will not accept defeat for my trust in Him is complete 01:42:33 in Russian... 01:42:40 and my victory has already been won. 01:42:46 You see, Brothers and Sisters, God had a plan for your life. 01:42:51 He had a plan for your life. 01:42:54 Aren't you thankful for that? 01:42:58 The great God of the universe, 01:43:02 looked down in Nizhny Novgorod Russia, 01:43:09 1992... and He saw you. 01:43:15 He had designed a plan from the foundation of the world 01:43:18 in Russian... 01:43:27 to see that each and every one of us 01:43:34 had the opportunity 01:43:38 to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 01:43:41 Isn't that incredible? 01:43:44 Isn't that good news? 01:43:46 Somebody praise the Lord, uplift your hands... 01:43:48 raise your hands... praise the Lord. 01:43:51 If you love Jesus today... 01:43:54 sing with me, Jesus loves me this I know 01:43:58 for the Bible tells me so, 01:44:04 little ones to Him belong 01:44:09 they are weak but He is strong 01:44:14 Yes, Jesus loves me. 01:44:17 Yes, Jesus loves me... 01:44:20 again... 01:44:21 yes, Jesus loves me 01:44:24 again... 01:44:25 yes, Jesus loves me 01:44:30 the Bible tells me so. 01:44:35 Now, at the end of the meetings, after six weeks 01:44:39 we brought over 100,000 Bibles 01:44:43 in Russian... 01:44:52 and if you came to a certain number of nights 01:44:55 to the Evangelistic meetings, 01:44:56 in Russian... 01:45:02 you received a free Bible... 01:45:05 how many of you here received one of those Bibles? 01:45:09 Look at the hands Folks, 01:45:11 look at those hands... 01:45:12 somebody get a shot of that... 01:45:13 look at the hands... 01:45:15 praise the Lord... 01:45:17 was this... for how many, this was your first Bible ever? 01:45:25 All the hands going up again. 01:45:29 That's a "Praise the Lord. " 01:45:32 That's a "Praise the Lord. " 01:45:35 That's a "thank you Jesus. " 01:45:38 We were able to purchase the building, 01:45:41 I had to go back to America 01:45:45 just a month or two later, 01:45:49 I came back 01:45:51 and I found 60 of you Church members 01:45:57 out... cleaning up this property. 01:46:05 Trees were being cut, 01:46:08 1,000s of bricks were being moved by hand... 01:46:16 already... working to finish this building. 01:46:23 I did not even have an engineer yet 01:46:30 but Pastor Alexander and other church leaders 01:46:32 had people come and volunteer every Sunday. 01:46:35 In Russian... 01:46:42 One of the trips that I came in the next few months... 01:46:47 I saw a huge ladder 01:46:53 going to the top of what is now the Studio... 01:46:55 Television Studio here... 01:47:01 I said, "Who is up there? I hear a noise... " 01:47:03 In Russian... 01:47:07 They said, "Oh, some of the volunteers are up there. " 01:47:12 I said, "What are they doing?" 01:47:14 "They're drilling... 01:47:16 trying to drill holes through the concrete. " 01:47:25 I said, "What for?" 01:47:28 They said, "You wanted a Television Studio... " 01:47:35 and someone said, "You need to hand lights 01:47:37 from the ceiling. " 01:47:41 So, they're drilling holes to put rebar in to hang lights. " 01:47:44 In Russian... 01:47:54 I climbed up to the top 01:47:57 and I saw eight of you... 01:48:02 two of you 01:48:04 Alexandria 01:48:08 and Vera 01:48:11 were all on top of the building 01:48:14 with hammer and chisel 01:48:19 these were not young ladies... 01:48:23 they're not old ladies... 01:48:30 I know better than to say that 01:48:34 in any language... 01:48:37 they were young compared to me now 01:48:43 I asked them what they were doing. 01:48:48 They said, "We will do anything to help get this building done 01:48:53 for Jesus. " 01:48:59 I said, "Is anyone paying you?" 01:49:03 They said, "We didn't ask for any pay. " 01:49:09 I was so blessed the other day 01:49:11 when we were walking through this building 01:49:19 and I heard a voice say, "Danny, Danny... " 01:49:25 and I looked down the end of the hall 01:49:31 and there was dear sister Alexandria. 01:49:35 So, we hugged and we kissed 01:49:39 she was... I will tell her age only because she's telling it, 01:49:48 I said, "You still look beautiful. " 01:49:52 She said, "I am 81 years old now. " 01:49:57 Praise the Lord. 01:49:59 Because of you, this Facility 01:50:05 is being used by God 01:50:09 for Television and Media, 01:50:12 for Church, 01:50:14 for Schools... 01:50:15 Bookstores... 01:50:18 Health Food Stores... whatever... 01:50:23 is here because of you... 01:50:28 your dedication and your hard work 01:50:34 and we appreciate your financial support 01:50:36 and helping keep 3ABN and the local church 01:50:41 where they can continue to grow.
