Well, welcome back, we are so happy that 00:00:09.91\00:00:11.44 you could join us, and once again we've been 00:00:11.47\00:00:14.52 talking a little bit about the past 50 00:00:14.55\00:00:16.57 years, and talking also about the holiday 00:00:16.60\00:00:20.88 season and what a wonderful time 00:00:20.91\00:00:23.50 families can have together and Camille, 00:00:23.53\00:00:26.17 some of the great family times we've 00:00:26.20\00:00:28.18 had have taken place during 00:00:28.21\00:00:30.11 the holiday season. That's right. 00:00:30.14\00:00:31.37 And tonight also we're continuing with 00:00:31.91\00:00:34.55 our 50th anniversary. I want you to share 00:00:34.58\00:00:38.97 now Joe Baker put together a little 00:00:39.00\00:00:41.56 sequence sort of the story of our lives and 00:00:41.59\00:00:45.47 we showed it that evening at the vesper 00:00:45.50\00:00:47.53 service before the reception and so 00:00:47.56\00:00:50.63 we're gonna show it to you now. 00:00:50.66\00:00:51.94 Two couples were made especially 00:00:55.53\00:00:57.70 happy the same year, when children were 00:00:57.73\00:01:00.20 born into their homes. Roy and Venice Thurmon 00:01:00.23\00:01:03.67 gave birth to their first child in Tampa, 00:01:03.70\00:01:05.80 Florida, and named their daughter Catherine Camille. 00:01:05.83\00:01:08.96 Meanwhile John and Pauline Gilley 00:01:18.90\00:01:20.74 welcome their fourth child at Dallas, Texas 00:01:20.77\00:01:23.38 naming their son James William. 00:01:23.76\00:01:25.51 Camille grew up in Florida, Alabama, 00:01:26.72\00:01:28.78 and Arkansas as her father Pastored 00:01:28.81\00:01:31.08 churches in those states. 00:01:31.11\00:01:32.47 Jim on the other hand grew up in Texas in at 00:01:35.34\00:01:39.00 around the city of Tyler, moving back to 00:01:39.03\00:01:41.41 Dallas when he was a teenager. 00:01:41.44\00:01:43.03 During Camille's final year at Ozark 00:01:46.15\00:01:48.04 Academy her father took a call to Houston, 00:01:48.07\00:01:50.92 Texas prompting her to make the decision 00:01:50.95\00:01:53.53 to finish her senior year of Academy at 00:01:53.56\00:01:55.73 South Western in King, Texas, and 00:01:55.76\00:01:58.46 that's where Jim and Camille met. 00:01:58.49\00:02:01.01 They were both very popular students, 00:02:02.28\00:02:04.48 active in school life, and they began dating 00:02:05.00\00:02:07.38 as freshmen in college. One week after their 00:02:07.41\00:02:10.85 first date Jim asked Camille to marry him, 00:02:10.88\00:02:13.71 and she said, yes, however only a few 00:02:14.24\00:02:17.36 months later they broke up and did not 00:02:17.39\00:02:19.99 begin dating again for almost a year. 00:02:20.02\00:02:22.21 Six weeks after graduating from 00:02:22.97\00:02:24.56 South Western Junior College, they were 00:02:24.59\00:02:26.69 married on 17th of July at the Houston 00:02:26.72\00:02:29.29 central Adventist church. Camille had three 00:02:29.32\00:02:32.22 friends as her attendance and her brother James 00:02:32.25\00:02:34.67 Earl as an usher. Jim's three brothers Ed, 00:02:34.70\00:02:38.21 John, and Paul stood with him as Pastor 00:02:38.24\00:02:40.41 Thurmon performed the wedding. 00:02:40.44\00:02:41.71 The Honeymoon was one night in near by 00:02:42.91\00:02:45.13 Galveston, Texas. Jim who only had a little 00:02:45.16\00:02:47.96 over a hundred dollars when they got 00:02:47.99\00:02:49.18 married could not offered more, 00:02:49.21\00:02:50.86 so the next morning they drove back to 00:02:51.01\00:02:53.11 Dallas where he began work on 00:02:53.14\00:02:54.70 Tuesday and after 50 years he is still working. 00:02:54.73\00:02:58.65 Their first year of marriage was spent 00:03:03.46\00:03:05.16 teaching public school in Montana in the 00:03:05.19\00:03:07.69 ranch country, West of Miles city, 00:03:07.72\00:03:09.82 and off the highway some 24 miles from Cohagen. 00:03:09.99\00:03:12.68 They attended church at the Garfield County 00:03:15.74\00:03:17.68 seat in Jordan, Montana some 35 miles away. 00:03:17.71\00:03:20.75 Jim has 6 students in his school and 00:03:23.68\00:03:26.03 Camille had 9 in hers, four miles away. 00:03:26.06\00:03:29.06 The roads were thought to be impossible in 00:03:29.60\00:03:31.60 the winter snow but Jim made it back to 00:03:31.63\00:03:33.68 Camille's school where they lived in a 00:03:33.71\00:03:35.36 13/12 foot teacherage with no running water 00:03:35.39\00:03:39.07 and out door bathroom facilities. 00:03:39.10\00:03:41.05 In others words an outhouse. 00:03:42.73\00:03:44.45 They received three gallons of water a day 00:03:45.93\00:03:48.41 five days a week, for all the cooking, 00:03:48.65\00:03:51.00 drinking and bathing needs. 00:03:51.03\00:03:52.90 Bathing was done every Friday 00:03:53.45\00:03:54.99 evening in a wash tub. 00:03:55.02\00:03:56.60 Next they decided to attend the newly 00:04:02.82\00:04:05.22 named Andrews University in Berrien 00:04:05.25\00:04:07.32 Springs, Michigan for their final two years 00:04:07.35\00:04:09.78 of college, knowing that would be the 00:04:09.81\00:04:11.74 location of the Seventh-day Adventist 00:04:11.77\00:04:13.44 theological seminary which Jim would 00:04:13.47\00:04:15.43 eventually attend. After the school year 00:04:15.46\00:04:18.30 in Montana, Jim started selling 00:04:18.33\00:04:20.29 promotional advertising for a small company 00:04:20.32\00:04:22.61 in Dallas making sales that more than 00:04:22.64\00:04:24.79 covered his expenses for tuition. 00:04:24.82\00:04:26.52 Needing the money to enter school he called 00:04:27.36\00:04:29.14 the company for a check. They told him they 00:04:29.17\00:04:31.40 had financial problems and couldn't pay him. 00:04:31.43\00:04:33.84 This major set back convinced Jim that 00:04:34.41\00:04:36.64 very day to start his own promotional 00:04:36.67\00:04:38.67 advertising firm and he choose the name 00:04:38.70\00:04:41.06 "Continental Specialty Company." 00:04:41.09\00:04:43.16 He thought it sounded like a big company 00:04:43.51\00:04:45.56 though he ran it from a desk in the laundry 00:04:45.59\00:04:48.06 room and out of this VW Bug. 00:04:48.09\00:04:50.25 He developed a number of customers 00:04:50.47\00:04:51.99 and one of them was the McKee Baking 00:04:52.02\00:04:54.24 Company who had just started their line 00:04:54.27\00:04:56.39 of Little Debbie Snack Cakes. 00:04:56.42\00:04:58.10 One of Jim's first orders with them was 00:04:58.70\00:05:00.68 for pocket protectors with a color photo of 00:05:00.71\00:05:03.51 little Debbie trapped in a clear vital trap. 00:05:03.54\00:05:05.75 This concept was brand new at that time 00:05:06.08\00:05:08.28 and he located a supplier in St. Louis, 00:05:08.60\00:05:10.71 Missouri to manufacture them. 00:05:10.74\00:05:12.40 His company proved to be a very successful 00:05:12.75\00:05:15.01 venture and he did well with the 00:05:15.04\00:05:16.67 business, in fact, it's still in existence at 00:05:16.70\00:05:19.97 this time in Berrien Springs. 00:05:20.00\00:05:22.01 In May of their junior year in college, 00:05:25.57\00:05:27.67 Jim's dad died of cancer and the day 00:05:27.93\00:05:30.37 after the funeral they left for a summer job, 00:05:30.40\00:05:33.17 they had arranged previously by mail 00:05:33.20\00:05:34.77 and phone to work for the US Forest Service 00:05:34.80\00:05:37.03 on Sourdough Mountain in the 00:05:37.06\00:05:38.68 Nez Perce National Forest. This job on a fire 00:05:38.71\00:05:41.87 tower allowed them to finish some 00:05:41.90\00:05:43.58 correspondence courses that they 00:05:43.61\00:05:44.98 needed for graduation and still earn a $1.91 00:05:45.01\00:05:48.51 in an hour while watching for fires, 00:05:48.54\00:05:50.60 saving their money Jim and Camille were 00:05:51.09\00:05:53.05 able to return to Andrews University 00:05:53.08\00:05:54.92 for their senior year of college, graduating 00:05:54.95\00:05:57.70 with degrees in religion and elementary education 00:05:57.73\00:06:00.50 respectively, hoping for a call to the ministry. 00:06:00.53\00:06:03.44 The couple was very happy when Pastor 00:06:03.89\00:06:05.97 Merle Mills called them to the Southern 00:06:06.00\00:06:07.86 New England Conference in Massachusetts. 00:06:07.89\00:06:09.71 He wanted Jim to postpone his seminary 00:06:10.30\00:06:12.26 study for one year and being tired of 00:06:12.29\00:06:15.00 studying and this suited him just fine. 00:06:15.03\00:06:17.45 Jim was appointed assistant Pastor of the 00:06:18.24\00:06:20.28 South Lancaster Village church, 00:06:20.31\00:06:21.99 working with Pastor Russell Adams whom 00:06:22.02\00:06:24.23 both Jim and Camille liked immediately and 00:06:24.26\00:06:27.18 from whom Jim learned so much and 00:06:27.21\00:06:29.36 also planned a church in nearby Leominster 00:06:29.39\00:06:31.69 after he conducted an evangelistic meeting. 00:06:31.72\00:06:33.87 Camille taught elementary school, 00:06:34.44\00:06:36.15 utilizing her recently earned bachelors 00:06:36.53\00:06:38.63 degree in elementary education, so the year 00:06:38.66\00:06:41.33 passed quickly, then it was back to Andrews 00:06:41.36\00:06:44.80 for Jim's seminary training. 00:06:44.83\00:06:46.28 After a year of intensive theological 00:06:47.08\00:06:48.94 training, Jim was asked to join Don 00:06:48.97\00:06:51.52 Jacobsen, professor of evangelism in the 00:06:51.55\00:06:54.26 summer as a singing evangelist for a camp 00:06:54.29\00:06:56.66 in Racine, Wisconsin, a fantastic experience 00:06:56.69\00:07:00.09 with Camille playing the piano. 00:07:00.28\00:07:01.65 The couple stayed with a team as they 00:07:03.63\00:07:05.44 joined Bruce Johnson in Wooster, 00:07:05.47\00:07:07.35 Massachusetts. It was during this campaign 00:07:07.38\00:07:11.59 that James William Gilley junior still 00:07:11.62\00:07:14.05 known to this day by his siblings as 00:07:14.08\00:07:16.18 Jimmy arrived into the world. 00:07:16.21\00:07:18.39 No couple could have been more excited. 00:07:20.28\00:07:22.60 After the Wooster meeting Jim held one 00:07:35.28\00:07:37.77 more evangelist campaign as a song 00:07:37.80\00:07:39.84 director and visitation coordinator with 00:07:39.87\00:07:42.12 H.M.S Richards Jr. in Fitchburg, 00:07:42.15\00:07:44.63 Massachusetts, and when that campaign 00:07:44.66\00:07:47.25 finished Jim, Camille and Jimmy moved to 00:07:47.28\00:07:50.15 Connecticut where Jim was the Pastor of 00:07:50.18\00:07:52.36 the Plainville, Meridian and Middletown churches. 00:07:52.39\00:07:55.72 Jim immediately started his ministry 00:08:00.42\00:08:02.37 in Plainville with an evangelist series. 00:08:02.40\00:08:04.93 His fruitful campaign since June 1st, 00:08:05.41\00:08:07.83 growth was fantastic that year with Plainville 00:08:08.69\00:08:10.90 and the church membership doubled. 00:08:11.28\00:08:12.82 The other churches were growing at a 00:08:13.16\00:08:14.66 healthy rate too soon at the suggestion 00:08:14.69\00:08:17.47 of Pastor Richards. Jim was called by 00:08:17.50\00:08:19.90 Elder Mills and the committee to be the 00:08:19.93\00:08:21.99 conference evangelist. At only 25 years of 00:08:22.02\00:08:25.26 age, he was the youngest Adventist 00:08:25.29\00:08:28.16 Conference Evangelist in North America. 00:08:28.19\00:08:30.41 As they began this work, a new edition to 00:08:31.73\00:08:34.08 the Gilley family Maryann Catherine was born. 00:08:34.11\00:08:36.85 In the next two and half years the Gilleys 00:08:37.57\00:08:39.36 conducted 25 full scale evangelistic 00:08:39.39\00:08:41.68 series in New England with David 00:08:41.71\00:08:43.73 and Carol Petersen. The Lord blessed 00:08:43.76\00:08:45.93 immensely, and their third child John 00:08:45.96\00:08:48.66 Thurmon was welcomed by the 00:08:48.69\00:08:50.27 whole family enthusiastically. 00:08:50.30\00:08:52.06 Jim had often told his church members that 00:08:53.15\00:08:55.07 they had as much time do soul-winning as he 00:08:55.10\00:08:57.33 did, because of the administrative tasks 00:08:57.36\00:08:59.66 that a Pastor must face. So shortly after John 00:08:59.69\00:09:02.77 was born the Lord gave Jim the chance 00:09:02.80\00:09:04.78 to prove that he could practice what he preached. 00:09:04.81\00:09:07.48 Jim, Camille and their three 00:09:08.04\00:09:09.52 children moved to Dallas. 00:09:09.55\00:09:10.92 Purchasing an established business 00:09:21.98\00:09:23.57 from its aging founders on credit, 00:09:23.60\00:09:25.45 Jim obtained Davis and Stanton advertising. 00:09:25.86\00:09:28.15 It was a business he enjoyed and felt 00:09:28.77\00:09:30.69 very natural running. He also was encouraged 00:09:30.72\00:09:33.64 by his old Bible teacher M.D. Louis 00:09:33.67\00:09:36.10 and several others to run for political office. 00:09:36.13\00:09:38.48 So he ran for the US congress in the 24th 00:09:39.34\00:09:42.40 district in Texas. Jim lost the race for 00:09:42.43\00:09:46.11 congress but made hundreds of friends in 00:09:46.14\00:09:48.15 contacts that were invaluable, 00:09:48.18\00:09:50.28 and the best part was that he was forever 00:09:51.77\00:09:53.80 cured of the political bug. 00:09:53.83\00:09:55.27 Shortly after the political campaign 00:10:08.46\00:10:10.38 their fourth child Amy Camille was born. 00:10:10.41\00:10:13.28 My brother Jimmy once said, without 00:10:13.87\00:10:15.98 her we are pretty dull family. 00:10:16.01\00:10:18.60 Hi, I am Kelly Summers, Texas Humane Society. 00:10:23.39\00:10:26.68 Texas Humane Society is a place 00:10:27.21\00:10:28.89 where all kinds of retarded children and 00:10:29.25\00:10:31.33 mental children go. It's kind of like a 00:10:31.36\00:10:33.96 school that teaches them, tries to teach 00:10:33.99\00:10:36.43 them how to eat correctly and talk 00:10:36.46\00:10:38.57 correctly, please everyone donate 00:10:38.60\00:10:41.67 money to the Texas Humane Society. 00:10:41.70\00:10:43.76 You will get rewarded by feeling great 00:10:44.81\00:10:46.79 inside, you will get rewarded by almighty. 00:10:46.82\00:10:49.44 Jim had now been so involved in business 00:10:52.39\00:10:54.60 that there was not enough time left for 00:10:54.63\00:10:56.31 evangelistic ministry but the Lord soon 00:10:56.34\00:10:58.92 opened a new door with a business that 00:10:58.95\00:11:01.00 was also a ministry. Missionary tape and 00:11:01.03\00:11:04.12 equipment supply was the business of selling 00:11:04.15\00:11:06.43 sound and video equipment as well as 00:11:06.46\00:11:08.63 cassette tapes to churches, schools and 00:11:08.66\00:11:10.70 ministries by catalog. The Lord opened the 00:11:10.73\00:11:13.53 door for him to buy it and this company 00:11:13.56\00:11:16.30 became the base from which nearly 50 00:11:16.33\00:11:18.24 evangelistic series were conducted with 00:11:18.27\00:11:20.84 no cost to the conference, and where many 00:11:20.87\00:11:23.36 hundreds were baptized. In 1983, they moved 00:11:23.39\00:11:27.12 to Egan near Keene and built a home 00:11:27.15\00:11:29.43 where they lived for next 10 years. 00:11:29.46\00:11:31.31 The children all attended school in 00:11:32.02\00:11:33.65 Keene where each of them eventually 00:11:33.68\00:11:35.26 graduated from South Western 00:11:35.29\00:11:36.89 Adventist University. Camille was a full 00:11:36.92\00:11:40.01 time mother and her children 00:11:40.04\00:11:41.44 received all of her attention. 00:11:41.47\00:11:43.09 Many vacations were spent together and 00:11:44.96\00:11:46.90 they all looked back on these years fondly. 00:11:46.93\00:11:48.95 After the Lord, the family has always 00:11:50.97\00:11:53.29 come first for Jim and Camille. 00:11:53.32\00:11:55.12 But as the children entered academy and 00:12:07.91\00:12:10.11 were more involved in their school activities, 00:12:10.14\00:12:12.15 it became more difficult for them to 00:12:12.45\00:12:13.84 go to evangelist meetings night after 00:12:13.87\00:12:15.93 night, soon Jim realized that family 00:12:15.96\00:12:18.78 togetherness was ministry of the first order. 00:12:18.81\00:12:21.61 So he accepted the invitation to be senior 00:12:22.26\00:12:24.54 Pastor of the Arlington, Texas 00:12:24.57\00:12:26.30 church with a salary of $1 a year, for the 00:12:26.33\00:12:30.11 next seven years the Lord blessed their 00:12:30.14\00:12:31.78 ministry abundantly and the church grew 00:12:31.81\00:12:34.50 from under 300 members to over 1,000, and 00:12:34.53\00:12:38.30 opportunity to sell missionary tape to 00:12:38.33\00:12:40.11 cam audio cam and Jim joined Coleman 00:12:40.14\00:12:42.79 Steward with L. H. Coleman as a partner 00:12:42.82\00:12:45.26 and vice-president. His new position 00:12:45.29\00:12:47.58 allowed him to have more time for Pastoral 00:12:47.61\00:12:49.78 ministry as well as being able to consult 00:12:49.81\00:12:52.41 with other Adventist churches concerning 00:12:52.44\00:12:54.50 Stewardship. Jim's mother died 00:12:54.53\00:12:56.89 unexpectedly with a stroke. 00:12:56.92\00:12:58.57 Amy left for school at Monterey Bay 00:12:59.93\00:13:01.86 Academy and Jim began a new position 00:13:01.89\00:13:04.17 with Coleman all the same month. 00:13:04.20\00:13:06.04 Major changes some times come quickly. 00:13:06.61\00:13:09.50 Shortly after, the call came to go to the 00:13:14.46\00:13:17.01 Ukraine for evangelistic meetings. 00:13:17.04\00:13:19.30 Communism was still in power and 00:13:19.77\00:13:21.68 Dniprodzerzhynsk was the spot that 00:13:21.71\00:13:23.93 General Conference chose for Jim and 00:13:23.96\00:13:25.52 Camille as well as Max and Betty 00:13:25.55\00:13:27.50 Trevino to minister. None of them had 00:13:27.53\00:13:29.75 heard of the city of two and half million 00:13:29.78\00:13:31.51 people, but this became the first of 8 00:13:31.54\00:13:34.16 major evangelistic series in the Ukraine, 00:13:34.19\00:13:36.44 in the cities of Dniprodzerzhynsk, 00:13:36.75\00:13:39.38 Odessa, Kharkiv, and Kiev. Over 10,000 people 00:13:39.90\00:13:45.42 were baptized into God's remnant church. 00:13:45.45\00:13:47.91 At least 26 new churches were 00:13:48.43\00:13:50.64 organized. John and Amy joined the first 00:13:50.67\00:13:53.31 Odessa meeting during Christmas and 00:13:53.34\00:13:55.49 John organized the boys from America 00:13:55.52\00:13:57.69 and returned the next summer baptizing 00:13:58.07\00:13:59.82 nearly a hundred people. Kirk and Maryann 00:13:59.85\00:14:02.83 were part of the team in Kharkiv and Kirk 00:14:02.86\00:14:05.83 simultaneously conducted a video 00:14:05.86\00:14:07.83 campaign in the river that resulted in 50 baptisms. 00:14:07.86\00:14:11.74 The Arkansas-Louisiana Conference was the 00:14:12.66\00:14:14.77 next stop as Jim surprised by being 00:14:14.80\00:14:16.89 elected as conference president. 00:14:16.92\00:14:18.37 After a very rocky beginning with the 00:14:18.98\00:14:20.61 conference committee, things moved out and 00:14:20.64\00:14:23.72 the next seven 7 years were some of the 00:14:23.75\00:14:25.62 most fruitful ministry he and Camille have 00:14:25.65\00:14:27.68 ever enjoyed the ministries and staff 00:14:27.71\00:14:30.41 truly joined with the membership to make 00:14:30.44\00:14:32.43 VST and Arkansas- Louisiana beautiful. 00:14:32.46\00:14:35.15 Then came a day they will never forget, 00:14:36.77\00:14:38.99 it was January 5th 2001 and their next 00:14:39.87\00:14:43.07 door neighbor accidentally started a 00:14:43.10\00:14:44.77 minor fire which was easily extinguished by 00:14:44.80\00:14:47.04 the fire department. He was taken to the 00:14:47.07\00:14:49.78 hospital but no fireman stayed it on. 00:14:49.81\00:14:51.73 So the fire quickly rekindled itself, 00:14:52.41\00:14:54.50 and this time not only wiped out that town 00:14:55.00\00:14:57.12 house but also the Gilley's home and the 00:14:57.15\00:14:59.38 town house next door. When Don Schneider 00:14:59.41\00:15:02.38 called Jim shortly afterwards to be vice 00:15:02.41\00:15:04.60 president of the North American division. 00:15:04.63\00:15:06.41 Jim kiddingly told him it would be a 00:15:07.28\00:15:09.13 cheap move since the fire wiped them out. 00:15:09.16\00:15:12.16 Their 5 years at the North American 00:15:13.85\00:15:15.55 division were wonderful. Working with Don 00:15:15.58\00:15:18.31 Schneider and staff was a pleasure. 00:15:18.34\00:15:20.17 But the travel was extensive. 00:15:20.73\00:15:22.26 When the Texas conference asked Jim 00:15:23.16\00:15:24.99 to come back to old home church as 00:15:25.02\00:15:26.70 Pastor after much prayer they accepted. 00:15:26.73\00:15:29.78 Dallas became the couple's home for the 00:15:31.09\00:15:32.63 next two years, and the attendance 00:15:32.66\00:15:35.10 increased dramatically. Jim and Camille honestly 00:15:35.13\00:15:38.68 thought there would be there until the 00:15:38.71\00:15:39.85 Lord's return. One reason was because 00:15:39.88\00:15:42.96 Amy was living there then Amy met Ethan 00:15:42.99\00:15:45.82 Bearman. They were married and moved 00:15:45.85\00:15:48.20 away from Dallas. This made it a little 00:15:48.23\00:15:50.93 easier when the call for Danny Shelton, 00:15:50.96\00:15:52.95 and the 3ABN board came out of the blue 00:15:52.98\00:15:55.20 to come to that ministry as their president. 00:15:55.23\00:15:57.30 There were a number of indicators at the 00:15:57.75\00:15:59.58 Lord was in this call, and soon Jim and 00:15:59.61\00:16:02.56 Camille were convinced that this 00:16:02.59\00:16:04.14 was where the Lord wanted them. 00:16:04.17\00:16:05.41 They had never had any doubts that this 00:16:06.05\00:16:08.44 was truth. Since then John has met and 00:16:08.47\00:16:11.90 married Jerica McQueeney in Napa 00:16:11.93\00:16:13.68 Carlifornia where they now live and 00:16:13.71\00:16:15.73 where John teaches at Pacific Union College camp. 00:16:15.76\00:16:18.33 Maryann and Kirk continue in Dyersburg 00:16:19.44\00:16:21.65 where Kirk is in the flooring business. 00:16:21.68\00:16:23.47 They have five children, Katie, Ben, 00:16:24.04\00:16:25.99 Camille, Venice, and Carrie. 00:16:26.02\00:16:27.72 Jim Junior lives in the Orlando area with 00:16:28.46\00:16:30.77 Chloe, Camille and Jimmy the third. 00:16:30.80\00:16:32.82 Amy and Ethan live in Soquel, California 00:16:33.64\00:16:35.82 with Levi James. And after spending 00:16:35.85\00:16:39.16 50 beautiful years together Jim and 00:16:39.46\00:16:42.59 Camille have no plans for the future other 00:16:42.62\00:16:45.59 than to follow wherever the Lord leads. 00:16:45.62\00:16:48.23 Well, I tell you. Could have cut 00:16:58.72\00:17:00.65 that off a little bit there. 00:17:00.68\00:17:01.99 That's a pretty long kiss for a loving 00:17:02.67\00:17:04.26 couple you know. That was a still. 00:17:04.29\00:17:06.25 I think they stretched. Yeah. There's no 00:17:06.28\00:17:08.24 question, that's true. As I look at that, 00:17:08.27\00:17:11.96 you know, we made that for or 00:17:12.58\00:17:14.22 Joe did for our family. But I never thought 00:17:14.25\00:17:16.42 this would go around the world. 00:17:16.45\00:17:17.62 No, particularly not the bath tub shot, 00:17:17.65\00:17:19.45 right, right, that has been so, I certainly 00:17:19.48\00:17:20.79 didn't think about that one, but the other 00:17:20.82\00:17:22.99 thing is that probably they need a little 00:17:23.02\00:17:26.04 explanation, we had a video camera and our 00:17:26.07\00:17:30.02 children would often do little plays and 00:17:30.05\00:17:32.36 things like that, particularly Amy. 00:17:32.39\00:17:34.11 Amy. And Amy would kind of write 00:17:34.14\00:17:36.13 her own commercials, right, and the one 00:17:36.16\00:17:39.03 where you saw where she's sitting down and 00:17:39.06\00:17:40.89 she's talking about the Humane Society 00:17:40.92\00:17:42.85 that was Amy's own creation. 00:17:43.78\00:17:45.44 One of the other kids were running the 00:17:45.47\00:17:46.77 camera probably Maryann. Or maybe Amy set it 00:17:46.80\00:17:49.39 up for herself and, she could have, so. 00:17:49.42\00:17:51.62 And she could have and she made dozens 00:17:51.65\00:17:55.09 of commercials like that, and she is a little child. 00:17:55.12\00:17:58.36 It's pretty hard to get it on camera now, 00:17:59.21\00:18:00.92 right, but at that time it was very easy. 00:18:00.95\00:18:04.50 As we looked at that and we reminisced 00:18:05.00\00:18:06.57 over so many of those times. 00:18:06.60\00:18:09.10 They were exciting. They were. 00:18:09.26\00:18:11.01 But you know nothing more exciting then 00:18:11.23\00:18:12.78 being here right now. That's right. 00:18:12.81\00:18:14.39 I love our life right now. We really do, 00:18:14.42\00:18:16.46 we enjoy being at 3ABN. We believe in this 00:18:16.49\00:18:18.95 ministry, more so than any ministry that 00:18:18.98\00:18:22.98 we've ever been involved with and 00:18:23.01\00:18:24.85 we've always loved all those ministries 00:18:24.88\00:18:27.23 probably nothing more exciting than 00:18:27.26\00:18:29.13 going to Ukraine, but on the other hand now 00:18:29.49\00:18:33.21 we're able to reach out, not only Ukraine, 00:18:33.24\00:18:35.49 Russia but also around the world with 00:18:35.52\00:18:38.79 3ABN, and I want to assure those who are 00:18:38.82\00:18:42.33 watching 3ABN that if the Lord lays on 00:18:42.36\00:18:46.42 your heart to support this ministry you are 00:18:46.45\00:18:49.86 supporting the very best work possible for 00:18:49.89\00:18:54.17 presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to a 00:18:54.62\00:18:57.75 dying world. Well, Camille on that day 00:18:57.78\00:19:00.94 we had also reception that took place right 00:19:00.97\00:19:04.06 after that this particular series that you just 00:19:04.09\00:19:07.78 saw there was played at the end of vespers 00:19:07.81\00:19:10.80 and then we all went over to the hall where 00:19:11.10\00:19:13.86 they had the reception for us. 00:19:13.89\00:19:16.45 My sister-in-law Judy did all the decorating 00:19:16.48\00:19:19.63 and if you noticed there are lot of vases 00:19:19.66\00:19:23.81 of roses and I noticed, they were I thought 00:19:23.84\00:19:27.38 why are these little bouquets of roses 00:19:27.41\00:19:29.99 everywhere and I had to be told later that 00:19:30.02\00:19:33.89 they were 50 bouquets of roses that Jim had 00:19:33.92\00:19:39.21 gotten for me. And so we gave one to 00:19:39.24\00:19:41.79 everybody that came, they took a bouquet 00:19:41.82\00:19:43.75 home with them and what was left we took 00:19:43.90\00:19:46.19 to nursing home so. It was not wasted. 00:19:46.22\00:19:49.58 No flower went, was not used, let me put it 00:19:49.61\00:19:53.06 that way. Well, listen right now 00:19:53.09\00:19:55.06 let's take a look that reception. 00:19:55.09\00:19:56.58 We always went to people's house after 00:20:58.09\00:21:00.19 Sabbath morning and we go to their houses 00:21:00.47\00:21:03.79 for lunch and things like that. 00:21:03.82\00:21:05.43 This is a place and a nice big home. 00:21:05.46\00:21:08.20 They had us over there, a lot of guests 00:21:08.23\00:21:10.13 there at the house and there is this huge 00:21:10.16\00:21:14.31 table, a big white table cloth on it and 00:21:14.34\00:21:18.52 I said Pastor Gille before you leave we 00:21:19.30\00:21:22.73 would like to have you sign our tables 00:21:22.76\00:21:25.53 cloth and my dad without hesitation 00:21:25.56\00:21:27.95 said, I'd be glad to, he reaches at his pocket 00:21:27.98\00:21:30.39 pulls out a sharpy and signs his name real 00:21:30.42\00:21:33.70 big on a table cloth and before the lady 00:21:33.73\00:21:36.06 gets in oh, oh, not that table cloth. 00:21:36.09\00:21:38.54 He brought out the others table. 00:21:40.05\00:21:41.98 There is a special table. But he already signed 00:21:42.01\00:21:44.72 there, there best table cloth that they used 00:21:44.75\00:21:47.24 for the serving of the dinners. 00:21:47.27\00:21:49.17 Yeah, that's right, he's gonna buy him a new 00:21:51.49\00:21:53.21 table cloth. I gave you a haircut. 00:21:53.24\00:21:54.97 I'll always remember that, it was in our 00:22:43.33\00:22:44.98 kitchen and we were sitting there and 00:22:45.01\00:22:48.72 I went down just there and I gave you a hair 00:22:48.75\00:22:51.96 cut two days before our wedding. 00:22:51.99\00:22:54.04 I had so many relatives that live in 00:24:02.70\00:24:04.69 that area, yeah, so that what you saw 00:24:04.72\00:24:06.20 was mostly family and relatives. 00:24:06.23\00:24:08.87 Right and these are Camille's relatives 00:24:09.47\00:24:11.81 and also some of the church members there 00:24:11.84\00:24:13.51 in Dyersburg. The doors were open, 00:24:13.54\00:24:15.90 we just said you love to night we'll be 00:24:15.93\00:24:18.33 happy to have you and as you mentioned 00:24:18.36\00:24:20.84 Judy Thurmon put this together along 00:24:20.87\00:24:23.49 with her sister Faye. Sister Faye Baker and 00:24:23.52\00:24:26.08 they were just marvelous. They were, they can 00:24:26.11\00:24:28.73 do anything. And I remember that, if you 00:24:28.76\00:24:30.76 want to look good get Judy invited. 00:24:32.60\00:24:33.57 Yeah, and there were a number of ladies 00:24:33.58\00:24:34.55 there that joined in. Oh, yeah, some ladies 00:24:34.56\00:24:36.40 from the Dyersburg church. They're very gracious, 00:24:36.43\00:24:40.67 very generous, very.. Really very fine 00:24:40.70\00:24:42.99 people. Well, listen we've got something 00:24:43.02\00:24:45.78 else that we would like to share with you. 00:24:45.81\00:24:48.12 We had sometime, you know, holidays 00:24:48.64\00:24:52.58 and food go together. There was no question 00:24:52.94\00:24:55.37 about that, in fact I always set a goal not 00:24:55.40\00:24:58.44 not gain a pound between Thanksgiving and 00:24:58.47\00:25:01.40 New Year, and of the last few years I've 00:25:01.43\00:25:04.00 always been able to meet that goal if you 00:25:04.03\00:25:06.73 lose a pound or two, you're even further 00:25:06.76\00:25:09.16 ahead. But our family loves to gather in the 00:25:09.19\00:25:13.35 kitchen and recently we did a segment with 00:25:13.38\00:25:16.75 Maryann and you and Carrie when you were 00:25:16.78\00:25:21.88 doing, preparing some holiday meals and 00:25:21.91\00:25:24.80 we're gonna look at that right now. 00:25:24.83\00:25:26.24 Hello and welcome to our 3ABN kitchen. 00:25:28.19\00:25:30.70 We are going to share some of our holiday 00:25:31.28\00:25:33.33 recipes with you and this is my daughter 00:25:33.36\00:25:35.81 Maryann who is going to be doing 00:25:35.84\00:25:37.47 most of it, and I, my grand daughter 00:25:37.50\00:25:40.61 Carrie, who is working on a holiday 00:25:40.64\00:25:42.20 craft and we're enjoying a cup of 00:25:42.23\00:25:43.88 Wassail, wish you could share with us. 00:25:43.91\00:25:46.27 It smells good and tastes good. 00:25:46.73\00:25:48.15 And the first recipe we're going to do is 00:25:48.76\00:25:51.95 the Gluten-Free Roast, and we will 00:25:51.98\00:25:53.57 explain to you why it's Gluten-free and then. 00:25:53.60\00:25:56.87 It looks beautiful and we're going to do a 00:25:57.57\00:25:59.95 cornbread dressing, which is always very 00:25:59.98\00:26:02.58 popular we have to have it in our family 00:26:02.61\00:26:04.68 for holiday meal. Absolutely traditional. 00:26:04.71\00:26:07.57 It's kind of interesting that you have a 00:26:08.90\00:26:10.39 Gluten-free holiday but if you're from a 00:26:10.42\00:26:12.38 vegetarian family like I am, so much of the 00:26:12.41\00:26:16.16 holiday involves Gluten full products 00:26:16.19\00:26:20.25 and so when you have family members like 00:26:20.28\00:26:22.61 we do that don't do well with Gluten for 00:26:22.64\00:26:25.71 one reason or another then you become very 00:26:25.74\00:26:28.23 creative and you need to come up with other 00:26:28.26\00:26:30.78 things so that you still have that traditional 00:26:30.81\00:26:33.07 feeling that you know at the 00:26:33.10\00:26:35.10 meal time at the holidays. Something special that 00:26:35.13\00:26:38.01 you don't do all years so. Right, let's just read 00:26:38.04\00:26:41.53 that recipe and we'll go ahead and get 00:26:41.56\00:26:42.85 started on that one. Okay, you're gonna need: 00:26:42.88\00:26:46.20 2 cups of soaked soybeans. 2 cups water. 00:26:46.23\00:26:51.43 1/4 cup Bragg's Liquid Aminos. 00:26:52.49\00:26:55.41 1/4 cup olive oil and that is optional. 00:26:56.79\00:26:59.79 3 to 4 tbsp. of chicken style seasoning. 00:27:01.12\00:27:04.47 You could use McKay's or some 00:27:04.85\00:27:06.97 other that is gluten free. 00:27:07.00\00:27:08.41 4 tbsp. of nutritional yeast flakes. 00:27:08.59\00:27:11.27 2 tbsp. onion powder. 1 tsp. garlic powder. 00:27:12.16\00:27:16.60 1 to 2 tbsp. of Bakon Seasoning. 00:27:18.07\00:27:21.11 1 cup gluten free quick oats. 00:27:22.43\00:27:25.05 2 cups soy curls, chopped. 00:27:25.79\00:27:28.37 8 oz. mushrooms, canned or fresh, chopped. 00:27:29.44\00:27:33.64 1/3 of cup tapioca flour. 00:27:34.34\00:27:36.68 1/3 of cup gluten free flour. 00:27:37.11\00:27:39.22 And 3 tbsp. of baking powder 00:27:40.36\00:27:42.80 which is aluminum free. Okay, well, to get 00:27:42.83\00:27:47.15 started I am going to start out with, 00:27:47.18\00:27:49.08 many of you maybe aren't familiar, 00:27:49.88\00:27:51.30 but many of you are I am sure with the soy 00:27:51.33\00:27:53.87 curls which is just a soy bean product. 00:27:53.90\00:27:56.76 It has nothing taken out, nothing out it so 00:27:57.13\00:28:00.30 it's just about as natural you can get 00:28:00.33\00:28:01.99 for a meat substitute. It's made from the 00:28:02.02\00:28:04.25 whole soy bean too, it's not just soy flour. 00:28:04.28\00:28:07.33 Right, so that mean you are getting the 00:28:07.36\00:28:08.55 fiber and all the nutrition that in the 00:28:08.58\00:28:11.38 soy bean, so I am going to start out by 00:28:11.41\00:28:14.16 chopping, it comes in larger sizes and for 00:28:15.05\00:28:17.45 this recipe I want it a little bit smaller, 00:28:17.48\00:28:19.64 so I'm just gonna pulse this here. 00:28:23.81\00:28:25.39 That it gives it a little cherry texture. 00:28:25.42\00:28:41.56 Yeah, it does. Get you to hold 00:28:41.59\00:28:44.33 that for me just a second. Yes. 00:28:44.36\00:28:45.52 Okay. And that's dry and you have to 00:28:48.96\00:28:51.26 reconstitute it. No, it is dry, yeah, 00:28:51.29\00:28:53.70 and we put enough moisture in the recipe 00:28:53.73\00:28:57.26 so that it'll reconstitute while it's cooking, 00:28:57.29\00:28:59.62 and now I am going to chop mushrooms. 00:29:00.39\00:29:03.44 Can I do this in a blender or do 00:29:04.72\00:29:06.12 I need a food processor. Well, you know, 00:29:06.15\00:29:10.11 while you can hand chop mushroom, 00:29:10.14\00:29:11.97 you can hand chop all these but when it 00:29:12.00\00:29:15.42 comes to blending the soy beans in a minute, 00:29:15.45\00:29:17.21 you could do that in a blender or 00:29:17.24\00:29:18.81 in a food processor. Okay, we're just 00:29:18.84\00:29:21.72 gonna pulse this, we don't want to 00:29:21.75\00:29:23.06 immolate them, we don't make them 00:29:23.09\00:29:24.20 mushy, just chops into smaller pieces, 00:29:24.23\00:29:27.58 we're gonna put this in a bowl with the 00:29:48.79\00:29:51.63 soy curls, and just to let you know too this 00:29:51.66\00:29:57.96 recipe can be tweet to your own taste in a 00:29:57.99\00:30:03.23 many different ways. There may be a 00:30:03.26\00:30:04.92 seasoning or something that you like. 00:30:04.95\00:30:06.76 You can add it. It's very forgiving 00:30:07.84\00:30:10.00 and you can just be creative like you are, 00:30:10.03\00:30:13.44 and see if you can, see if you can better it. 00:30:13.47\00:30:16.78 I've made this in a lot of different ways and 00:30:16.81\00:30:18.29 everyone turns out so, now I'm gonna chop 00:30:18.32\00:30:21.71 our soaked soybeans and this is 2 cups after 00:30:21.74\00:30:25.52 it's been soaked. So we put our 00:30:25.55\00:30:28.62 soy beans in here. You soak them overnight. 00:30:28.65\00:30:31.51 Yeah, overnight or 8 hours is enough, 00:30:32.11\00:30:34.52 but usually we just do that overnight. 00:30:34.55\00:30:37.02 I'm going to ahead and add all 00:30:37.81\00:30:39.67 our other liquid ingredients. 00:30:39.70\00:30:41.08 And that was with the Bragg's, 00:30:41.76\00:30:43.25 liquid Aminos and olive oil and we're gonna.. 00:30:43.28\00:30:53.51 You just want that creamy. 00:31:12.42\00:31:13.87 Yes, you want to get it just a little creamy, 00:31:14.81\00:31:16.19 here but I'm gonna add some more of 00:31:16.22\00:31:18.03 these ingredients with the nutritional yeast 00:31:18.06\00:31:20.59 flakes and onion powder, garlic powder, 00:31:20.62\00:31:27.07 Bakon seasoning. I like that hickory 00:31:27.43\00:31:31.66 smoked flavor, and smell, it smells so 00:31:31.69\00:31:34.54 yummy, okay, and now we're gonna put 00:31:34.57\00:31:36.68 the McKay's chicken style seasoning or 00:31:36.71\00:31:39.28 any chicken style seasoning that you 00:31:39.31\00:31:40.94 like in there. We're gonna 00:31:40.97\00:31:45.09 blend it a little bit longer. 00:31:45.12\00:31:46.28 Okay, we got a nice creamy mixture here. 00:32:05.63\00:32:11.40 Now if you want it creamier you will 00:32:11.43\00:32:13.47 need to use a blender otherwise, food 00:32:13.50\00:32:15.55 processor was gonna leave a little bit of the 00:32:15.58\00:32:17.37 soybean chunks which is a nice texture too. 00:32:18.00\00:32:20.25 But that's another thing for you 00:32:20.70\00:32:22.80 preference, however, you would like it. 00:32:22.83\00:32:24.93 Now we're go ahead and put the rest of the 00:32:25.55\00:32:28.60 dry ingredients in the bowl, the quick oats, 00:32:28.63\00:32:31.74 the gluten free quick oats and those are 00:32:31.77\00:32:33.86 available even at you local grocery store. 00:32:33.89\00:32:36.27 So, there is a lot of gluten-free products. 00:32:36.97\00:32:38.77 Lot of gluten- free products. 00:32:38.80\00:32:40.12 Available, this is a all purpose gluten-free 00:32:40.15\00:32:43.09 flour that works real nice and this is 00:32:43.12\00:32:48.36 tapioca flour which will gives a crispiness 00:32:48.85\00:32:54.04 and it kind of acts like a binder 00:32:54.64\00:32:56.27 too and it's, right. I think it makes your 00:32:56.30\00:33:00.12 product a little lighter in texture. 00:33:00.15\00:33:02.81 And then we've got our aluminum free 00:33:03.69\00:33:05.50 baking powder. A cinnamon. 00:33:30.54\00:33:33.33 Cinnamon, it smells spicy, doesn't it? 00:33:33.85\00:33:36.21 It's a nice mixture. Well, you know why 00:33:36.24\00:33:38.05 Carrie is doing that mom. I was probably not 00:33:38.08\00:33:40.92 much older than 6 which is Carrie's age. 00:33:40.95\00:33:44.83 When you had us sit down at the kitchen 00:33:45.23\00:33:46.80 table and you had oranges and cloves 00:33:46.83\00:33:49.58 and lemons and you had us stick cloves in 00:33:49.88\00:33:52.96 them with some ribbon. So, I thought you know 00:33:52.99\00:33:56.11 this would be nice for Carrie to do, it stuck 00:33:56.14\00:33:58.83 out in my mind in every holiday I think 00:33:58.86\00:34:00.89 about that. That was fun, it was relaxing 00:34:00.92\00:34:03.53 to sit there and do that, and we'll come 00:34:03.56\00:34:07.10 back and talk, tell you how Carrie is doing, 00:34:07.13\00:34:08.77 right now I'm gonna go ahead and mix all 00:34:08.80\00:34:11.73 this together and pour our liquid. 00:34:11.76\00:34:15.13 And I'm gonna mix this up really well. 00:34:31.55\00:34:33.72 Alright, we're gonna put this in a sprayed 00:34:50.71\00:34:56.05 loaf pan. You want to spray it really well. 00:34:56.40\00:34:58.52 Sometimes they are stubborn coming out, 00:34:59.36\00:35:02.01 but if that happens when you after you 00:35:03.25\00:35:05.23 bake it. Let it cool a little bit in the pan 00:35:05.26\00:35:08.05 before you try to remove that. 00:35:08.08\00:35:09.08 Yeah, just that extra moisture usually release it. 00:35:09.62\00:35:12.79 Okay, so we've got. Boy, that's turned 00:35:13.52\00:35:15.22 out to be a big loaf. Well, actually you 00:35:15.25\00:35:18.35 can do two loaves. Okay. We're gonna pour this. 00:35:18.38\00:35:23.43 There are a lot of good ingredients in there. 00:35:28.33\00:35:30.60 And how long do you bake this? 00:35:36.04\00:35:37.38 And we're gonna bake this, you'll start out, 00:35:37.41\00:35:39.47 heat your oven really hot at first about 400 00:35:39.50\00:35:42.42 degrees and then bake it for about 15 00:35:42.45\00:35:45.27 minutes at 400 degrees and then at 00:35:45.30\00:35:49.62 about 15 minutes turn it down to 350 and 00:35:49.65\00:35:52.15 then continue baking for about 50 minutes 00:35:52.18\00:35:55.24 and you may even want to bake longer 00:35:55.77\00:35:57.31 than that depending it and it starts to get a 00:35:57.34\00:35:58.88 little too brown on top covered with some 00:35:58.91\00:36:01.39 foil because you really want the 00:36:01.42\00:36:03.15 soybeans to get done, otherwise it will have 00:36:03.18\00:36:05.82 a little bit of bitter flavor 'cause you want 00:36:05.85\00:36:07.29 the soybean really cooked well that's in there. 00:36:07.32\00:36:09.82 And that's how to do it, that just is.. 00:36:10.52\00:36:14.33 And so next we've got the dressing. 00:36:15.44\00:36:18.49 For the gluten free cornbread, this is 00:36:19.73\00:36:22.33 what you will need. We usually have your 00:38:01.33\00:38:04.02 grandmother, my mother and yours.. 00:38:04.05\00:38:06.19 Just 90, 94, almost 95 and still cooking. 00:38:06.22\00:38:10.34 Still cooking. She usually makes 00:38:10.37\00:38:12.10 the gravy and then we have Amy, I wish she 00:38:12.13\00:38:14.96 could be here but she is in California and 00:38:14.99\00:38:16.80 you're close and then Jerica, always 00:38:16.83\00:38:19.51 decorates the table, but usually we make 00:38:19.54\00:38:24.82 two dressing. I'm just gonna dump this in. 00:38:24.85\00:38:28.02 These celery and onions have already 00:38:28.85\00:38:31.76 been sauteed and just earth balance is what 00:38:31.79\00:38:36.82 I use, earth balance butter probably what 00:38:36.85\00:38:39.67 2 or 3 tablespoons and then the Melody's 00:38:39.70\00:38:45.54 wonderful mushroom soup and you use that 00:38:45.57\00:38:49.11 in place of the mushroom soup 00:38:49.14\00:38:50.64 concentrate that she would get in the store. 00:38:50.67\00:38:52.32 That's right, that if you ever, have you 00:38:52.35\00:38:54.75 ever read the ingredients I tell you I read 00:38:54.78\00:38:57.03 ingredients on everything and it's got 00:38:57.06\00:38:59.10 to be good stuff or I just won't buy it, 00:38:59.13\00:39:00.94 but especially now with your dad I watch 00:39:01.32\00:39:04.27 for gluten and there is gluten hidden in so 00:39:04.30\00:39:07.28 many little things. So I always watch gluten 00:39:07.31\00:39:10.22 but so many products now will have even 00:39:10.25\00:39:13.38 seasonings will say gluten free. 00:39:13.59\00:39:15.39 Now this is boiling water and you really 00:39:15.82\00:39:18.31 need it hot. Oh, sage, we do need sage, 00:39:18.34\00:39:22.44 that's what makes it and your Aunt Ruby 00:39:22.47\00:39:25.63 used to always put thyme in her dressing, 00:39:25.66\00:39:27.99 so they taste similar you also you can do 00:39:28.92\00:39:31.20 both or you can just do one. 00:39:31.23\00:39:32.63 We are just doing the sage but this is boiling 00:39:33.26\00:39:35.90 water and you want to put enough so it's not 00:39:35.93\00:39:38.08 soupy but moist. Every year we say 00:39:38.11\00:39:44.07 well, is the dressing too moist this year or 00:39:44.10\00:39:47.16 is it too dry. Then if it's too dry we just 00:39:47.19\00:39:49.59 pile on more gravy. And it really is a 00:39:49.62\00:39:53.06 pretty dry to be too dry because we're a 00:39:53.40\00:39:55.23 drying dressing kind of family. 00:39:55.26\00:39:57.27 Right. And I was telling mom that you 00:39:57.30\00:39:59.70 see that well, on commercials on TV 00:39:59.73\00:40:01.99 talking about moist dressing and we're 00:40:02.02\00:40:05.15 thinking oh, why do they want it moist. 00:40:05.18\00:40:07.13 We like it dry. And we are not a 00:40:08.32\00:40:10.76 bread dressing family. We always do cornbread. 00:40:10.79\00:40:14.31 I never know that there was such a thing 00:40:14.34\00:40:15.32 as bread dressing till I got married. 00:40:15.35\00:40:16.75 And I wouldn't pack this down just kind of 00:40:17.22\00:40:20.02 toss it lightly and then I think we are ready 00:40:20.05\00:40:22.44 to pour it, did you spray the pan that 00:40:22.47\00:40:25.73 I always saying that we do make two 00:40:25.76\00:40:28.27 dressing usually. One with onions and 00:40:28.30\00:40:30.83 one without, because John just will not eat 00:40:30.86\00:40:35.99 onions but we have some others that won't either. 00:40:36.02\00:40:38.53 So this is pretty moist not wet but moist 00:40:39.27\00:40:42.70 enough and you want to bake it until it's 00:40:42.73\00:40:45.59 really nice, brown on the top. 00:40:45.62\00:40:47.64 It usually takes about an hour. 00:40:47.67\00:40:49.25 Well of course we usually do pans that 00:40:49.28\00:40:51.34 are really big, it takes a long time and a 00:40:51.37\00:40:55.54 longer time anyway. And that just about 00:40:55.57\00:41:00.81 does it. And this on top of the dressing, in 00:41:00.84\00:41:05.18 fact, we have people in our family that put 00:41:05.21\00:41:07.61 gravy on everything. We have mash 00:41:07.64\00:41:12.25 potatoes, in fact, what would we, well it's 00:41:12.28\00:41:15.48 our typical menu. Typical we've got our 00:41:15.51\00:41:19.81 holiday roast. We have the cornbread 00:41:19.84\00:41:22.88 dressing, sweet potato casserole, 00:41:22.91\00:41:25.73 the giblet free gravy which is. 00:41:29.08\00:41:31.44 Right now, used to in fact some of, if you 00:41:31.47\00:41:35.77 eat eggs you could put, the original gravy 00:41:35.80\00:41:38.33 had boiled eggs so we've just substituted 00:41:38.36\00:41:40.58 mushrooms and soy curls, fine small 00:41:40.61\00:41:44.87 pieces, with McKay's chicken seasoning 00:41:44.90\00:41:47.54 and also and then water and all these 00:41:47.57\00:41:51.10 recipes even if we don't mentioned them, 00:41:51.13\00:41:53.19 they will be on the 3ABN website and so 00:41:53.22\00:41:56.56 if there is any that you would like just go in 00:41:56.59\00:41:58.35 there and print them up it's that easy. 00:41:58.38\00:41:59.58 Right. But then we also have your 00:41:59.61\00:42:01.99 famous Waldorf salad which would.. 00:42:02.02\00:42:04.99 Which your husband loves the most. 00:42:05.02\00:42:07.97 Yeah, love well, when I got married mom 00:42:08.00\00:42:09.37 had increased that by double because my 00:42:09.40\00:42:12.61 husband inhales it but.. And it only gets 00:42:12.64\00:42:15.83 better. You have any leftover for breakfast 00:42:15.86\00:42:18.50 or whatever, it's just gets better. 00:42:18.53\00:42:20.25 It's yummy, but then you also like 00:42:20.29\00:42:22.52 to do English peas. Right. English peas. 00:42:22.55\00:42:25.98 And you also do those little pearled onions. 00:42:26.01\00:42:29.32 Sometimes some years we've done 00:42:29.35\00:42:30.90 them and I like them, but. Oh, one of the 00:42:30.93\00:42:33.42 wonderful recipe too that you do the 00:42:33.45\00:42:35.00 cranberry orange relish. Relish. I used to use it 00:42:35.03\00:42:38.87 where you have the crank that you hooked on the. 00:42:39.26\00:42:41.36 Yes, I remember. And right, well, I lost 00:42:41.39\00:42:44.99 that somewhere along the line in one of 00:42:45.02\00:42:46.96 these moves, yes, a grinder. 00:42:46.99\00:42:48.46 So now that you have a food processor. 00:42:49.05\00:42:52.00 You just put it in the food processor and 00:42:52.27\00:42:54.18 you do your cranberries first, a bag of 00:42:54.21\00:42:56.39 cranberries and I don't know if the recipe. 00:42:56.42\00:42:58.02 The recipes are gonna be on the website. 00:42:58.05\00:43:00.62 And one orange, thin chucks and some 00:43:00.65\00:43:04.80 Florida crystals and some nuts. 00:43:05.41\00:43:08.08 like the nuts in it, we're kind of nutty. 00:43:08.30\00:43:10.43 Yeah, we are so much, that's for sure. 00:43:10.61\00:43:12.28 So I think that just about does it, oh, 00:43:12.60\00:43:14.78 did you say the sweet potatoes. 00:43:14.81\00:43:16.62 We have sweet potato casserole, we always do. 00:43:16.80\00:43:19.72 Sometimes the kids like the marshmallows on 00:43:20.11\00:43:23.28 top instead of the, the nut topping which 00:43:23.31\00:43:27.16 Maryann like the nut topping. 00:43:27.19\00:43:28.69 Yeah, you can get vegan marshmallows. 00:43:28.72\00:43:30.49 Right, they were, back out, they were 00:43:30.52\00:43:32.37 not available for a while but you can 00:43:32.40\00:43:34.10 still, you can get them now. 00:43:34.13\00:43:35.27 Yeah, well, let back to Carrie, what Carrie is 00:43:35.73\00:43:38.37 working on. She is sticking cloves in a 00:43:38.40\00:43:41.49 lemon, if you can see she is using a fork to 00:43:41.52\00:43:45.46 make the hole, so that the cloves will go in 00:43:45.49\00:43:47.96 easily and she's been working so hard. 00:43:47.99\00:43:50.36 She's about got that whole lemon covered 00:43:50.61\00:43:52.43 and then we'll set that in a bowl in the 00:43:53.44\00:43:55.53 kitchen and it has a very nice and ripe. 00:43:55.56\00:43:57.66 If you wanted to, you could attach a ribbon 00:43:58.34\00:44:00.61 and hang it too. I think that's.. 00:44:00.64\00:44:01.90 Yeah, it's like a popery ball 00:44:01.93\00:44:04.67 And does that dry that way? 00:44:04.70\00:44:05.97 You know it last a long time I remember 00:44:06.70\00:44:08.92 when you did the oranges it last a long time. 00:44:08.95\00:44:11.18 Yeah, I remember seeing that in your closet 00:44:11.21\00:44:12.82 For a long time so, whatever you have in 00:44:13.40\00:44:16.28 the holiday though if you just have peanut 00:44:16.31\00:44:18.26 butter sandwiches you will have a wonderful 00:44:18.29\00:44:20.46 time if you have those you love with you. 00:44:20.49\00:44:22.27 But if you want to try recipes we hope that 00:44:23.00\00:44:25.27 you enjoy them and we wish you our love 00:44:25.30\00:44:29.67 and best for the holidays. 00:44:29.70\00:44:31.99 Well, I can testify that, that was a very 00:44:33.80\00:44:36.83 good meal because that is the exact menu 00:44:36.86\00:44:39.40 that we had for our thanksgiving meal 00:44:39.43\00:44:41.64 and we'll probably repeat it a couple of 00:44:41.86\00:44:44.25 times during the holidays, and it was 00:44:44.28\00:44:46.45 very good. I don't know why we 00:44:46.48\00:44:47.45 don't have it more often but it's usually 00:44:47.46\00:44:48.75 just Thanksgiving and Christmas. 00:44:48.78\00:44:50.09 Yeah. But it's something that we 00:44:50.12\00:44:52.02 really enjoy. It does but, it was just very 00:44:52.05\00:44:55.21 well prepared and of course we always 00:44:55.24\00:44:57.68 enjoy being together and that makes it taste 00:44:57.71\00:45:00.47 even better when the loved ones come 00:45:00.50\00:45:02.26 together and eat a meal and enjoy that time. 00:45:02.29\00:45:05.29 Well, listen we've got the two grand 00:45:05.95\00:45:08.84 daughters here. This is Carrie Krueger 00:45:08.87\00:45:11.86 and Venice Krueger. They're the two 00:45:12.50\00:45:15.00 youngest children of our daughter Maryann 00:45:15.03\00:45:17.77 and son-in-law Kirk. And Camille, 00:45:17.80\00:45:21.19 they had a very special Christmas a 00:45:21.22\00:45:23.12 year ago during the holiday season. 00:45:23.15\00:45:25.42 What did you kids do? We went to Navajo 00:45:25.78\00:45:29.99 renovation and we handed out food baskets. 00:45:30.02\00:45:34.43 Alright. Well, they, their families, their 00:45:34.46\00:45:38.41 aunt Carla and her husband Less and 00:45:38.99\00:45:41.87 their children Matthew, Mark, Mary and 00:45:41.90\00:45:45.68 Megan decided these two families that they 00:45:45.71\00:45:50.34 would do something for 00:45:50.37\00:45:51.69 somebody else for Christmas. 00:45:51.72\00:45:53.47 So they decided to go to a Navajo 00:45:54.18\00:45:57.77 reservation which is run by Kelly and 00:45:57.80\00:46:00.66 Allen Fowler. And this Christmas was 00:46:00.69\00:46:05.50 so special and in fact, all of the kids, 00:46:05.53\00:46:09.27 I don't know if you even did you give 00:46:09.30\00:46:10.98 gifts to each other? No. No, you didn't. 00:46:11.01\00:46:14.82 You only gave gifts to the Navajo children. 00:46:14.85\00:46:18.86 But they said, that this what did you say? 00:46:18.89\00:46:21.58 Was your best.. Christmas ever. 00:46:22.56\00:46:24.71 Isn't that special? Well when they 00:46:25.59\00:46:28.90 made the baskets, food baskets. 00:46:30.64\00:46:32.91 You didn't do the gifts but you did food 00:46:33.71\00:46:35.87 baskets and you took them to the different houses. 00:46:35.90\00:46:40.33 Tell me about that? When we bought food 00:46:41.20\00:46:44.70 baskets to all the houses and then they 00:46:44.73\00:46:50.09 said, like they're really happy. 00:46:51.27\00:46:52.89 And when you would go to these houses 00:46:53.98\00:46:55.79 what did you say outside most of the houses? 00:46:55.82\00:46:58.30 We saw a lot of dogs. Were they big fat 00:46:58.33\00:47:02.18 healthy dog? No, they weren't healthy. 00:47:02.21\00:47:04.22 What do you thing those dogs ate? 00:47:06.18\00:47:07.72 Probably rats. What did they ate? 00:47:09.27\00:47:11.48 Anything. Just whatever they 00:47:11.51\00:47:12.84 could find, and you went to one house that 00:47:12.87\00:47:16.57 had a lot of dogs and it had.. 00:47:16.60\00:47:18.77 Puppies, puppies, lots of puppies. 00:47:19.09\00:47:21.10 What kind of puppies? Was there one special puppy? 00:47:21.88\00:47:24.96 Yeah, it was the youngest. It was the youngest, 00:47:25.55\00:47:29.51 and the smallest and what did you do Venice? 00:47:29.54\00:47:33.09 She carried a puppy a lot and the next day 00:47:33.93\00:47:40.65 Camille, my sister said let's raise a little 00:47:41.44\00:47:49.52 money to buy dog food for dogs. 00:47:49.55\00:47:52.31 So everyone put some money 00:47:53.20\00:47:56.28 in and then they used it to. 00:47:56.31\00:48:00.45 To get the dogs food. Yeah. 00:48:00.48\00:48:02.38 So the dogs had a Christmas. 00:48:02.90\00:48:04.58 They had dog food, which is a treat, 00:48:05.21\00:48:07.29 wasn't it? They had never had dog food 00:48:07.32\00:48:09.61 and Camille raised the money and bought 00:48:10.13\00:48:12.27 bags of dog food, but when you were 00:48:12.30\00:48:16.03 delivering the baskets you 00:48:16.06\00:48:17.47 saw one special little puppy. 00:48:17.50\00:48:20.13 Yeah, and she was the littlest and so I told 00:48:21.50\00:48:28.81 my dad, dad I'm gonna take this puppy 00:48:28.84\00:48:31.86 and then he holded it for a while and then 00:48:32.31\00:48:39.36 we had to go to next house and we went to 00:48:39.39\00:48:41.96 the next house and then my dad went 00:48:41.99\00:48:46.37 away and then 'cause there was a couple 00:48:46.40\00:48:49.26 truck to carry everyone and then 00:48:49.29\00:48:52.85 they came back and then they had the 00:48:54.17\00:48:57.89 puppy with them and Ben my brother got 00:48:58.60\00:49:03.55 the puppy for me and I got in the truck with 00:49:03.58\00:49:08.06 them and then pulled out the puppy and 00:49:08.09\00:49:12.30 said, Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas and 00:49:12.33\00:49:15.29 what did you do? Did you just cry you're 00:49:15.32\00:49:18.55 like so excited, so happy. 00:49:18.58\00:49:20.91 Alright. And you took that puppy 00:49:20.94\00:49:23.48 home with you, didn't you? Yes. What did you 00:49:23.51\00:49:25.94 carry? What did Venice name him? 00:49:26.31\00:49:28.03 Nizhoni. What is it? It means beautiful. 00:49:28.06\00:49:30.35 It means beautiful, Nizhoni, it was a 00:49:30.38\00:49:35.02 Navajo name and it means beautiful, 00:49:35.05\00:49:37.79 beautiful. She looked like a little bear. 00:49:37.82\00:49:41.06 Well, what's Nizhoni doing now? 00:49:41.86\00:49:43.51 She's at home and she is going to have puppies. 00:49:44.06\00:49:47.12 She is going to have puppies. 00:49:47.15\00:49:48.86 Oh, my. And Legacy Five 00:55:39.12\00:55:41.05 came here as our guest and recorded, 00:55:41.08\00:55:43.77 a number songs and we really appreciated 00:55:44.30\00:55:46.65 their music and we're so happy 00:55:46.68\00:55:49.02 they could be with us. Well, we're so happy 00:55:49.05\00:55:50.89 that you could be with us tonight and just 00:55:50.92\00:55:54.56 share as we've kind gone along the 00:55:54.59\00:55:57.10 highway of time, looks back at some 00:55:57.54\00:56:00.22 things in our lives and looked back on this 00:56:00.25\00:56:02.40 year and talked about some of the things 00:56:02.43\00:56:05.75 that have meant so much to our family. 00:56:05.78\00:56:07.88 But the things that means the most to our 00:56:08.52\00:56:10.22 family is Jesus Christ. We've built our whole 00:56:10.25\00:56:14.17 life around him, it's giving our lives to 00:56:14.20\00:56:17.27 him and committing to the life of sacrifice 00:56:17.30\00:56:21.25 that he has asked us to live and it's really 00:56:21.28\00:56:23.95 been no sacrifice at all to go into present the 00:56:23.98\00:56:27.26 gospel wherever we've been invited to 00:56:27.29\00:56:30.04 do such. Also to share with our own family 00:56:30.07\00:56:33.27 and that's been greatest part because 00:56:33.65\00:56:35.55 heaven will not be heaven 00:56:35.95\00:56:37.24 without all our family being there. 00:56:37.86\00:56:40.60 Absolutely. And God has blessed us, Camille. 00:56:40.63\00:56:44.25 We are so blessed and I just thank the Lord 00:56:44.28\00:56:46.08 every day many times for our children, 00:56:46.11\00:56:49.40 our grand children, they're healthy and 00:56:49.63\00:56:51.67 happy and we are truly blessed. 00:56:51.70\00:56:55.38 Yes, we are and your parents who are still 00:56:55.41\00:56:58.47 with us in their 90's.
