Hello, I'm Lance. 00:00:29.02\00:00:30.36 And I'm Dwayne, and welcome to another episode of TKS, 00:00:30.39\00:00:33.66 a True Knowledge of Self, 00:00:33.70\00:00:35.36 where we get to know ourselves from a biblical perspective. 00:00:35.40\00:00:38.70 We're grateful that you have joined with us today, 00:00:38.73\00:00:40.47 and we have something in store for you. 00:00:40.50\00:00:43.61 We have been going through 00:00:43.64\00:00:44.97 a comparison of the hip-hop culture, 00:00:45.01\00:00:47.94 and the culture of Christianity, 00:00:47.98\00:00:49.94 and seeing if the principles that govern a hip-hop culture 00:00:49.98\00:00:53.92 from its pillars, to its elements, 00:00:53.95\00:00:55.82 as well as to looking at the pillars 00:00:55.85\00:00:57.92 of the Christian faith, 00:00:57.95\00:00:59.29 the things that make us Christians. 00:00:59.32\00:01:01.42 And as we compared the two, 00:01:01.46\00:01:02.99 we began to see that there's a tremendous contrast 00:01:03.02\00:01:05.46 rather than a harmony 00:01:05.49\00:01:06.83 which basically is helping us 00:01:06.86\00:01:08.20 to see thus far in all the episodes 00:01:08.23\00:01:09.66 that we've done that hip-hop culture 00:01:09.70\00:01:12.53 is something that cannot truly be endorsed 00:01:12.57\00:01:16.91 by the word of God. 00:01:16.94\00:01:18.27 Because over, and over, and over again 00:01:18.31\00:01:19.64 as we looked at its various tenets, 00:01:19.67\00:01:21.31 we looked at the pillars of love, and peace, and unity, 00:01:21.34\00:01:24.98 and safely having fun, 00:01:25.01\00:01:26.48 we looked at the various elements 00:01:26.51\00:01:27.98 from DJing breaking 00:01:28.02\00:01:29.95 and, of course, the graffiti writing, 00:01:29.98\00:01:32.35 and the MCing, 00:01:32.39\00:01:33.72 and the fifth element of so-called knowledge, 00:01:33.76\00:01:36.09 understanding, and wisdom. 00:01:36.12\00:01:38.03 And as we began to compare these principles 00:01:38.06\00:01:40.26 with the word of God, 00:01:40.30\00:01:41.63 we began to see a tremendous contrast. 00:01:41.66\00:01:43.60 And let God be true and all men liars, 00:01:43.63\00:01:46.57 the Bible lets us know this principle. 00:01:46.60\00:01:48.57 So because of this, 00:01:48.60\00:01:49.94 it is important for us to see that, 00:01:49.97\00:01:51.81 as we're studying, 00:01:51.84\00:01:53.34 there are lots of things that's happening 00:01:53.38\00:01:55.14 in this worldwide influential culture of hip-hop 00:01:55.18\00:01:57.81 that is meeting the minds of many young people 00:01:57.85\00:02:00.42 as well as old. 00:02:00.45\00:02:01.78 It has hit every area of life from the poor to the rich, 00:02:01.82\00:02:04.65 and everything in between. 00:02:04.69\00:02:06.02 And it's because of this, 00:02:06.05\00:02:07.39 that we wanted to put these programs together 00:02:07.42\00:02:09.16 to be an enlightenment to God's people, 00:02:09.19\00:02:10.93 to help us to understand the words of God, 00:02:10.96\00:02:13.70 and what God requires of us. 00:02:13.73\00:02:15.50 And we've been going through this 00:02:15.53\00:02:17.10 but today, Lance, 00:02:17.13\00:02:18.47 we have some things that we gotta cover... 00:02:18.50\00:02:19.93 Yeah. That's pretty eye-opening. 00:02:19.97\00:02:22.10 There's some things happening right now that's a bit exciting 00:02:22.14\00:02:25.61 but also can be very concerning. 00:02:25.64\00:02:27.68 And there is something happening in hip-hop culture. 00:02:27.71\00:02:31.25 We've been doing all these comparisons 00:02:31.28\00:02:32.61 and seeing that, 00:02:32.65\00:02:33.98 you know, hip-hop culture and Christian culture 00:02:34.02\00:02:35.35 do not blend at all, quite honestly. 00:02:35.38\00:02:37.49 Yet, there are many individuals that are having an experience 00:02:37.52\00:02:42.92 that sometimes you know it reminds me to a degree 00:02:42.96\00:02:45.99 of the experience of the Apostle Paul. 00:02:46.03\00:02:47.86 Now, the Apostle Paul was part of a movement 00:02:47.90\00:02:51.00 that was very much antichrist, 00:02:51.03\00:02:53.77 you know, when you look at the system of Judaism 00:02:53.80\00:02:55.97 and all of the corruptions that crept within it, 00:02:56.00\00:02:58.04 in the time of the Apostle Paul when he was Saul, 00:02:58.07\00:03:00.44 you know, he was an instrument of persecution, 00:03:00.48\00:03:03.35 he was an instrument of putting down 00:03:03.38\00:03:04.91 and all these things. 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.28 But we know the story in the Bible. 00:03:06.31\00:03:07.65 The Bible lets us know that when Paul was on Damascus road, 00:03:07.68\00:03:11.19 he had a contact with Jesus. 00:03:11.22\00:03:12.92 And as he had that contact with Christ, 00:03:12.95\00:03:15.19 his life was never the same. 00:03:15.22\00:03:17.26 There are individuals, we're discovering, 00:03:17.29\00:03:19.63 that actually are in hip-hop, that are doing things, 00:03:19.66\00:03:22.96 teaching things, demonstrating things, 00:03:23.00\00:03:25.03 exemplifying things that are against the Bible, 00:03:25.07\00:03:28.10 that are against Christianity. 00:03:28.14\00:03:30.21 Yet, many of these individuals have gotten to a place 00:03:30.24\00:03:33.64 where they are saying 00:03:33.68\00:03:35.01 they've come in contact with Jesus. 00:03:35.04\00:03:36.44 They're saying that they've come in contact 00:03:36.48\00:03:37.81 with the Lord. 00:03:37.85\00:03:39.18 And we are not individuals 00:03:39.21\00:03:40.55 that can judge these people and say, 00:03:40.58\00:03:41.92 "Oh, they're acting or they're fake." 00:03:41.95\00:03:43.28 We don't know their hearts. 00:03:43.32\00:03:44.65 So these people, we can assume are very, very sincere, 00:03:44.69\00:03:47.02 yet, they still maintain hip-hop culture. 00:03:47.06\00:03:50.46 So what we're seeing now is amalgamation taking place, 00:03:50.49\00:03:54.06 a blending of hip-hop and gospel. 00:03:54.10\00:03:57.90 And that's what we're gonna be talking about 00:03:57.93\00:03:59.27 for the next few episodes is, 00:03:59.30\00:04:00.67 you know, the concept of "Gospel Hip-hop". 00:04:00.70\00:04:03.57 Is it something that God can endorse because of the fact 00:04:03.61\00:04:07.48 that individuals are seeing hip-hop as something 00:04:07.51\00:04:10.71 that is not of God? 00:04:10.75\00:04:12.28 Well, hey, what if I can take it, 00:04:12.31\00:04:14.55 and what if I can, 00:04:14.58\00:04:15.92 you know, baptize it, 00:04:15.95\00:04:17.29 if you will with Christian lyrics 00:04:17.32\00:04:18.65 and now make it something 00:04:18.69\00:04:20.02 that would be acceptable to God? 00:04:20.06\00:04:21.39 And we're finding that 00:04:21.42\00:04:22.76 this is effecting the lives of many artists 00:04:22.79\00:04:24.13 that are, you know, 00:04:24.16\00:04:25.49 real prominent in hip-hop culture today. 00:04:25.53\00:04:26.86 And we're gonna talk about some of them. 00:04:26.90\00:04:28.23 So, you know, what are some of your thoughts on this? 00:04:28.26\00:04:29.76 You know, "Hip-hop Gospel", what does God say about it? 00:04:29.80\00:04:33.20 Is it something that God can endorse, 00:04:33.23\00:04:35.14 not, and why? 00:04:35.17\00:04:36.74 And we're gonna take a look at some of the examples 00:04:36.77\00:04:38.67 of some prominent leaders in hip-hop culture today 00:04:38.71\00:04:41.48 that are, you know, starting to accept Christ, 00:04:41.51\00:04:44.75 but yet still pushing forward hip-hop. 00:04:44.78\00:04:47.02 Can it really succeed? 00:04:47.05\00:04:48.38 Can it really work? 00:04:48.42\00:04:49.75 Absolutely not. 00:04:49.78\00:04:51.12 I mean, to put it simply, 00:04:51.15\00:04:52.49 we're gonna spend the next couple of our few episodes, 00:04:52.52\00:04:54.32 you know, dealing with this subject. 00:04:54.36\00:04:56.09 We wanna just set the tone 00:04:56.12\00:04:58.23 by just taking a look at some clips of individuals, 00:04:58.26\00:05:01.56 some prominent, some, you know, 00:05:01.60\00:05:02.93 in their prime pastor, prime what have you, 00:05:02.96\00:05:04.90 that are professing Christianity. 00:05:04.93\00:05:07.20 Professing Christianity, yet at the same time, 00:05:07.24\00:05:09.57 kind of hallmarks for hip-hop culture. 00:05:09.60\00:05:13.04 And the question has to, you know, be settled. 00:05:13.07\00:05:18.05 The question that has to be answered is, 00:05:18.08\00:05:20.22 "Can you blend the two?" 00:05:20.25\00:05:22.08 This is what you've posed, this is what I'm asking, 00:05:22.12\00:05:24.22 and we both had to go through this experience. 00:05:24.25\00:05:25.75 That's right. 00:05:25.79\00:05:27.12 Could coming out of hip-hop culture 00:05:27.16\00:05:28.59 and embracing the cross, 00:05:28.62\00:05:30.13 embracing the gospel, embracing God's word, 00:05:30.16\00:05:32.96 could we continue down the road 00:05:32.99\00:05:35.50 in embracing all the aspects of hip-hop culture 00:05:35.53\00:05:38.27 and grow as Christians, and continue to, 00:05:38.30\00:05:42.50 you know, come out of the world we're in and into, you know, 00:05:42.54\00:05:45.01 His marvelous light, out of the darkness 00:05:45.04\00:05:46.57 into His marvelous light? 00:05:46.61\00:05:47.94 And the answer, in our experience, 00:05:47.98\00:05:49.31 we saw it was clearly no. 00:05:49.34\00:05:51.21 And since that point, 00:05:51.25\00:05:52.58 we've come to see exactly why that can't be true 00:05:52.61\00:05:55.05 and that's what we'll be talking about that 00:05:55.08\00:05:56.42 in future episodes. 00:05:56.45\00:05:57.79 So what I wanna do is, you know, go into a clip. 00:05:57.82\00:06:01.62 We're gonna be looking at an individual 00:06:01.66\00:06:04.33 who had an interview by the name of Kanye West. 00:06:04.36\00:06:07.66 Most people, you know, in the world... 00:06:07.70\00:06:09.53 Anybody who is in hip-hop culture knows 00:06:09.56\00:06:10.90 who Kanye West for sure. 00:06:10.93\00:06:12.27 And he is a prominent pop figure, so it's not like, 00:06:12.30\00:06:14.90 you know, most people in a cross cultural boundaries 00:06:14.94\00:06:17.37 know who he is. 00:06:17.41\00:06:18.74 So we're gonna look at an interview 00:06:18.77\00:06:20.44 that was done from by Kanye West. 00:06:20.48\00:06:23.78 And I think this is his mother-in-law 00:06:23.81\00:06:25.15 at this point, right? 00:06:25.18\00:06:26.51 Yeah. 00:06:26.55\00:06:27.88 And so let's see what he has to say 00:06:27.92\00:06:29.28 as it relates to Christianity. 00:06:29.32\00:06:31.75 And then we're gonna talk about a little bit 00:06:31.79\00:06:33.12 'cause we got a couple more to look at as well, 00:06:33.15\00:06:34.49 so let's go to the clip. 00:06:34.52\00:06:35.86 Tell me about this bracelet you have on. 00:06:35.89\00:06:38.73 Actually, Rob gave me this. 00:06:38.76\00:06:40.80 And this is just What Would Jesus Do. 00:06:40.83\00:06:43.83 And I love that it's just such a cool... 00:06:43.87\00:06:46.27 I like that. 00:06:46.30\00:06:47.64 ..bracelet and, you know, 00:06:47.67\00:06:49.27 I'm a Christian 00:06:49.30\00:06:52.01 and I wanted to just always let people know 00:06:52.04\00:06:57.25 that that's what's on my mind, 00:06:57.28\00:06:59.98 that's... 00:07:00.02\00:07:01.68 It's important to you. Yeah. 00:07:01.72\00:07:03.05 It's important to me that, you know, that I grow, 00:07:03.08\00:07:07.96 you know, and walk, 00:07:07.99\00:07:12.46 and raise my family with Christian values. 00:07:12.49\00:07:18.60 And I don't know if it's right to say on TV but... 00:07:18.63\00:07:20.44 Yes, of course, it is. 00:07:20.47\00:07:22.57 Now when we look at a clip like this, you know, 00:07:22.60\00:07:25.34 you're saying to yourself, "He has emphatically stated, 00:07:25.37\00:07:27.91 'I am a Christian." 00:07:27.94\00:07:29.28 Yeah. 00:07:29.31\00:07:30.65 And he wants to have Christian values 00:07:30.68\00:07:32.68 brought into his home. 00:07:32.71\00:07:34.05 Yet at the same time, 00:07:34.08\00:07:36.02 he is part of a culture that is anti-Christian. 00:07:36.05\00:07:38.62 It is against the principles of Christ. 00:07:38.65\00:07:40.42 It is literally against the very words of God. 00:07:40.46\00:07:43.39 Now the question is, does he know that? 00:07:43.43\00:07:45.23 And we don't know right now. 00:07:45.26\00:07:46.80 I mean, you know, I haven't seen anyone 00:07:46.83\00:07:48.63 interview him on that level. 00:07:48.66\00:07:50.00 I'm sure there's a lot of people 00:07:50.03\00:07:52.03 that will look at this, 00:07:52.07\00:07:53.40 and lots of opinions are gonna be developed, 00:07:53.44\00:07:55.34 some good, some bad, some indifferent. 00:07:55.37\00:07:57.71 Nevertheless, we're taking what he said for face value. 00:07:57.74\00:08:00.38 There are individuals that actually can believe 00:08:00.41\00:08:04.08 they are doing the service of God 00:08:04.11\00:08:06.58 and at the same time be against God. 00:08:06.61\00:08:08.45 And that's why I preface this whole thing, 00:08:08.48\00:08:09.98 talking about Saul. 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.39 You know, Saul in his mind, 00:08:11.42\00:08:13.29 he was for God 00:08:13.32\00:08:15.46 even when he literally was ordering 00:08:15.49\00:08:17.56 Christians to be killed, 00:08:17.59\00:08:18.93 to be slaughtered, and to destroy the way of life 00:08:18.96\00:08:20.93 which was known as Christianity. 00:08:20.96\00:08:22.30 So it is possible 00:08:22.33\00:08:24.13 that individuals can be grossly deceived, 00:08:24.17\00:08:26.53 yet have very sincere motives. 00:08:26.57\00:08:28.60 And I don't have a problem 00:08:28.64\00:08:29.97 putting Kanye West in that category 00:08:30.01\00:08:32.14 based on what his own testimony is. 00:08:32.17\00:08:33.71 I can clearly see things that he does or says 00:08:33.74\00:08:36.08 that I can say, "Hey, that's not even minutely 00:08:36.11\00:08:38.51 in accordance with the word of God. 00:08:38.55\00:08:39.88 Yet, I don't know. 00:08:39.91\00:08:41.85 Are you doing it maliciously? 00:08:41.88\00:08:43.22 Are you doing it ignorantly?" 00:08:43.25\00:08:44.59 I'm not in the man's mind. 00:08:44.62\00:08:45.95 I'm not in his heart. I can't read that. 00:08:45.99\00:08:47.46 But what we're doing is looking at the broader picture. 00:08:47.49\00:08:50.13 There's a picture that is being painted to the world 00:08:50.16\00:08:52.79 and the picture that is being painted to world 00:08:52.83\00:08:54.83 is that hip-hop culture and Christianity are all right. 00:08:54.86\00:08:58.77 They can work together, it's all good. 00:08:58.80\00:09:01.20 And when programs like this come out 00:09:01.24\00:09:02.90 with such prominent figures in hip-hop, 00:09:02.94\00:09:05.01 it's having a very deceptive effect 00:09:05.04\00:09:07.71 on the millions, and millions of beholders 00:09:07.74\00:09:10.81 that are watching these types of programs 00:09:10.85\00:09:12.41 and that are followers 00:09:12.45\00:09:13.78 of a major hip-hop artist like this. 00:09:13.82\00:09:15.25 So this is why we have to address this question, 00:09:15.28\00:09:18.75 the gospel of hip-hop or hip-hop gospel, 00:09:18.79\00:09:21.36 can the two go together? 00:09:21.39\00:09:22.86 You know, what does God say about it? 00:09:22.89\00:09:24.43 And that's why we're looking at these types of clips 00:09:24.46\00:09:26.46 so that we can let the world see 00:09:26.49\00:09:28.20 that this is what's being presented right now. 00:09:28.23\00:09:30.10 And it's being presented more and more 00:09:30.13\00:09:32.57 on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. 00:09:32.60\00:09:35.14 So these are some things that we have to pay 00:09:35.17\00:09:36.50 really close attention to. 00:09:36.54\00:09:37.87 Absolutely. 00:09:37.91\00:09:39.24 And we're just gonna go right into the next clip 00:09:39.27\00:09:40.61 'cause there's another artist. 00:09:40.64\00:09:41.98 I don't know if he has music out right now. 00:09:42.01\00:09:43.41 I know he was popular back in the '90s, 00:09:43.45\00:09:44.98 very popular in the '90s. 00:09:45.01\00:09:46.58 But he also has his own testimony 00:09:46.61\00:09:49.38 as it relates to Christianity. 00:09:49.42\00:09:50.95 So let's go, we're talking about Ja Rule now. 00:09:50.99\00:09:53.15 And we're gonna go ahead to that clip. 00:09:53.19\00:09:54.52 Okay. 00:09:54.56\00:09:55.89 And that moved me to say, "You know what, now I get it. 00:09:55.92\00:09:59.59 I can accept God into my life, and let him come into my life, 00:09:59.63\00:10:02.60 " because from what you're saying 00:10:02.63\00:10:05.27 and from what I see, 00:10:05.30\00:10:07.04 if I do this, 00:10:07.07\00:10:08.70 you're not asking me to make gospel records tomorrow. 00:10:08.74\00:10:11.37 It's a walk, you know, it's taking baby steps 00:10:11.41\00:10:15.68 and I get to take them steps at my own pace, you know, 00:10:15.71\00:10:18.91 I'm not saying I'm perfect, not saying I'm changed more, 00:10:18.95\00:10:21.65 but I'm making that step 00:10:21.68\00:10:24.09 and they're accepting me as I am. 00:10:24.12\00:10:27.46 And so that moved me to do that, man... 00:10:27.49\00:10:29.46 Wow, man. 00:10:29.49\00:10:30.89 Now, once again, this is situation 00:10:30.93\00:10:32.86 where we're gonna take this man at his word 00:10:32.89\00:10:34.56 that he's being sincere and genuine. 00:10:34.60\00:10:36.10 We're not gonna bash this brother at all. 00:10:36.13\00:10:39.00 The question is, if, you know, 00:10:39.03\00:10:40.94 give a little context to the statement 00:10:40.97\00:10:43.04 that he was making and how he gave his heart to the Lord 00:10:43.07\00:10:45.21 and he's, you know, making baby steps 00:10:45.24\00:10:46.74 and transitions, 00:10:46.78\00:10:48.11 he's talking about how he kind of did a church tour, 00:10:48.14\00:10:51.21 and he was reluctant to involve himself 00:10:51.25\00:10:54.52 with the church. 00:10:54.55\00:10:55.88 And as he kept visiting churches 00:10:55.92\00:10:57.69 and visiting churches, 00:10:57.72\00:10:59.05 he was having negative experiences. 00:10:59.09\00:11:00.42 And he wasn't feeling like he was part of the group, 00:11:00.46\00:11:04.63 if you will. 00:11:04.66\00:11:05.99 And so he was kind of turned off. 00:11:06.03\00:11:07.40 But he visited a church, a particular church, 00:11:07.43\00:11:10.13 I believe in New York City in Manhattan, 00:11:10.17\00:11:11.83 I believe that was like a kind of, like a, 00:11:11.87\00:11:15.90 I don't know, almost like a hip-hop church. 00:11:15.94\00:11:17.67 We're gonna look at, when I say hip-hop church, 00:11:17.71\00:11:19.61 what we mean. 00:11:19.64\00:11:20.98 But he went to a church 00:11:21.01\00:11:22.34 that was pretty much completely culturally 00:11:22.38\00:11:26.51 kind of like pop culture, you know, 00:11:26.55\00:11:28.95 quasi hip-hop culture, but it was a Christian church, 00:11:28.98\00:11:32.32 if that makes any sense. 00:11:32.35\00:11:33.69 We'll look at the examples, we'll see that clearly. 00:11:33.72\00:11:35.76 And he said when he entered that church, 00:11:35.79\00:11:38.43 he felt comfortable. 00:11:38.46\00:11:40.90 And then that led him, and he said 00:11:40.93\00:11:42.93 that the pastor came out with like a T-shirt, 00:11:42.96\00:11:45.03 and jeans, and tattoos all on him, 00:11:45.07\00:11:47.14 you know, on his arms. 00:11:47.17\00:11:48.70 And he started preaching the word and that's... 00:11:48.74\00:11:50.91 and he started to listen 00:11:50.94\00:11:52.27 because he saw other celebrities there, 00:11:52.31\00:11:54.21 he saw this, you know, 00:11:54.24\00:11:56.64 kind of a person that looks like him. 00:11:56.68\00:11:59.55 And he felt this environment that just made it, you know, 00:11:59.58\00:12:02.42 friendly and he began to attend that church, 00:12:02.45\00:12:04.89 and now he's ready to give his heart 00:12:04.92\00:12:06.92 to the Lord because of this. 00:12:06.96\00:12:08.29 Now there's nothing wrong. 00:12:08.32\00:12:09.66 Every church would be a warm atmosphere, right? 00:12:09.69\00:12:11.06 We talked about that in the previous episode 00:12:11.09\00:12:12.43 that we can't... 00:12:12.46\00:12:13.80 We gotta to take people as they are, 00:12:13.83\00:12:15.40 but that doesn't mean you can give them 00:12:15.43\00:12:17.87 the same sinful culture 00:12:17.90\00:12:19.33 that they're trying to come out of. 00:12:19.37\00:12:21.20 I remember, when I came out of the world, 00:12:21.24\00:12:22.97 I didn't wanna come into the church 00:12:23.00\00:12:24.61 and get the same thing I was getting in the world. 00:12:24.64\00:12:26.61 I mean, you want a contrast. Right. 00:12:26.64\00:12:28.41 So the issue is 00:12:28.44\00:12:31.61 not that you have individuals coming to the Lord, 00:12:31.65\00:12:34.42 that's what we want. 00:12:34.45\00:12:35.78 The question is, "What presentation 00:12:35.82\00:12:37.99 or representation of the word are they being given?" 00:12:38.02\00:12:39.92 That's right. 00:12:39.95\00:12:41.29 And are they being given this false idea 00:12:41.32\00:12:43.46 that God does not care, 00:12:43.49\00:12:45.46 that God wants you to be saved, 00:12:45.49\00:12:47.16 but He doesn't care how you live? 00:12:47.20\00:12:48.53 Right. 00:12:48.56\00:12:49.90 Or you can set the terms 00:12:49.93\00:12:52.30 rather than God setting the terms. 00:12:52.33\00:12:53.74 That was the interesting point is that 00:12:53.77\00:12:56.14 it is true that individuals grow at different paces. 00:12:56.17\00:13:00.64 That is true. Yes. 00:13:00.68\00:13:02.28 I appreciate the fact that he is saying, "Well, you know, 00:13:02.31\00:13:05.28 " he said, "They didn't ask me 00:13:05.31\00:13:06.72 to make a gospel record tomorrow, 00:13:06.75\00:13:08.72 they allowed me to grow up on my own pace, " etcetera. 00:13:08.75\00:13:10.82 There's a danger in that though 00:13:10.85\00:13:12.62 because the Bible is clear of how one comes to Christ 00:13:12.65\00:13:15.66 and what the exchange is. 00:13:15.69\00:13:17.39 The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, 00:13:17.43\00:13:20.33 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, 00:13:20.36\00:13:22.13 he is a new creature, 00:13:22.16\00:13:24.50 old things are passed away. 00:13:24.53\00:13:27.34 Behold, all things are become new." 00:13:27.37\00:13:30.61 So the Bible teaches that when a person comes to Christ, 00:13:30.64\00:13:33.58 you're entering into a new life, 00:13:33.61\00:13:35.58 there's a lot entailed in that new life, 00:13:35.61\00:13:38.08 and you will need to grow. 00:13:38.11\00:13:39.88 And that growth is based on a lot of different variables 00:13:39.91\00:13:43.02 but there is a definite acknowledgement of old things. 00:13:43.05\00:13:47.36 And when we come to Christ, 00:13:47.39\00:13:48.86 we must allow those old things to become dead. 00:13:48.89\00:13:51.56 It has to become past. 00:13:51.59\00:13:53.19 And it is very concerning, 00:13:53.23\00:13:55.50 and we're gonna see in the real marked way, 00:13:55.53\00:13:57.27 that the churches of today are not doing the job 00:13:57.30\00:14:00.70 that Jesus has commissioned the disciples to do. 00:14:00.74\00:14:03.14 Jesus said unto the disciples 00:14:03.17\00:14:04.67 when they would set up churches, 00:14:04.71\00:14:06.04 "Go, ye, therefore and teach all nations, 00:14:06.07\00:14:08.08 baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, 00:14:08.11\00:14:09.44 and Holy Ghost." 00:14:09.48\00:14:10.81 But then it says, 00:14:10.85\00:14:12.18 "Teaching them to observe all things 00:14:12.21\00:14:14.32 whatsoever I've commanded you." 00:14:14.35\00:14:16.42 So the Bible is very clear. 00:14:16.45\00:14:18.22 In the Book of Acts 2, 00:14:18.25\00:14:19.82 when the people heard the gospel message, 00:14:19.85\00:14:22.16 it says right there in verse 37 and 38. 00:14:22.19\00:14:25.26 "Now when they heard this, 00:14:25.29\00:14:27.20 they were pricked in their heart, 00:14:27.23\00:14:29.26 and said unto Peter 00:14:29.30\00:14:30.63 and to the rest of the apostles, 00:14:30.67\00:14:32.23 men and brethren, what shall we do? 00:14:32.27\00:14:34.90 And then Peter said unto them repent. 00:14:34.94\00:14:37.57 And be baptized every one of you 00:14:37.61\00:14:39.34 in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, 00:14:39.37\00:14:41.68 and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." 00:14:41.71\00:14:43.98 So the Bible teaches that 00:14:44.01\00:14:45.65 when an individual comes to Christ, 00:14:45.68\00:14:47.35 when they've realized their sinfulness 00:14:47.38\00:14:48.82 and their need for the Savior, 00:14:48.85\00:14:50.59 they're saying, "What should we do?" 00:14:50.62\00:14:52.25 Peter didn't say, "Just get baptized." 00:14:52.29\00:14:54.26 He says, "You gotta repent." 00:14:54.29\00:14:55.69 And to repent is to turn away. 00:14:55.72\00:14:57.29 Well, turn away from what? 00:14:57.33\00:14:58.66 The thing that separated you from God, which is sin. 00:14:58.69\00:15:00.93 So there's a problem 00:15:00.96\00:15:02.36 that's happening in pastoral leadership, 00:15:02.40\00:15:04.40 that's happening in many churches today, 00:15:04.43\00:15:06.33 that they are making it appear as if hip-hop culture is okay. 00:15:06.37\00:15:11.71 And we're gonna see this in a, disappointingly, 00:15:11.74\00:15:14.98 and I'm just gonna say, disgustingly real manner 00:15:15.01\00:15:17.41 of what we're seeing happening in the churches today 00:15:17.45\00:15:19.98 as it relates to this concept 00:15:20.02\00:15:21.52 of holy hip-hop, hip-hop gospel, 00:15:21.55\00:15:23.72 and all these things. 00:15:23.75\00:15:25.09 And therefore, I look at people like Ja Rule. 00:15:25.12\00:15:27.52 I look at people like Kanye West 00:15:27.56\00:15:29.06 and some of them. 00:15:29.09\00:15:30.43 While many will call them victimizers, 00:15:30.46\00:15:32.16 I also believe they're victims. 00:15:32.19\00:15:33.93 I believe they have been given a false gospel. 00:15:33.96\00:15:36.56 And the Bible makes it clear that not all gospels are equal. 00:15:36.60\00:15:39.43 And if that was the case, 00:15:39.47\00:15:40.80 Paul would not have said what he said in Galatians 1. 00:15:40.84\00:15:43.14 In Galatians 1:6, the Apostle Paul says 00:15:43.17\00:15:46.27 something that caused even him to marvel. 00:15:46.31\00:15:48.68 He was in... 00:15:48.71\00:15:50.95 He was writing a letter to brethren 00:15:50.98\00:15:52.31 in the church of Galatia. 00:15:52.35\00:15:53.78 And he got wind, he heard about things 00:15:53.82\00:15:56.32 that was happening in the church, 00:15:56.35\00:15:57.69 that was causing people to come away 00:15:57.72\00:15:59.05 from the true gospel. 00:15:59.09\00:16:00.42 And here's what he said. 00:16:00.46\00:16:01.79 He said in Galatians 1:6, 00:16:01.82\00:16:03.43 "I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him 00:16:03.46\00:16:06.43 that called you into the grace of Christ 00:16:06.46\00:16:08.13 unto another gospel, which is not another, 00:16:08.16\00:16:11.63 but there be some that trouble you, 00:16:11.67\00:16:13.23 and would pervert the gospel of Christ." 00:16:13.27\00:16:16.40 There were individuals, 00:16:16.44\00:16:17.77 who has taken the pure and they were tainting it. 00:16:17.81\00:16:20.44 They were putting things in it and what happened was, 00:16:20.48\00:16:22.68 it became perverted. 00:16:22.71\00:16:24.11 And the reality of those who perverted the gospel 00:16:24.15\00:16:27.68 is spelled out in verses 8 and 9. 00:16:27.72\00:16:29.68 Paul then goes on to say, "But though we, 00:16:29.72\00:16:32.02 or an angel from heaven, 00:16:32.05\00:16:33.82 preach any other gospel unto you than 00:16:33.86\00:16:35.76 that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 00:16:35.79\00:16:39.29 As was said before, so say I now again, 00:16:39.33\00:16:41.46 if any man preach any other gospel unto you 00:16:41.50\00:16:43.97 than that ye have received, let him be accursed." 00:16:44.00\00:16:46.94 So God makes it clear that He hates perverted gospels. 00:16:46.97\00:16:51.14 And when an individual can believe, 00:16:51.17\00:16:53.78 "I can continue practicing my sin and at my own pace, 00:16:53.81\00:16:58.35 I can just, kind of, grow out of it when I will, 00:16:58.38\00:17:00.92 and still have a successful relationship 00:17:00.95\00:17:03.25 with the Lord, " that is bona fide deception. 00:17:03.28\00:17:05.59 That's like me saying that, you know, 00:17:05.62\00:17:07.22 a man can cheat on his wife and have another woman. 00:17:07.26\00:17:09.96 And then one day, 00:17:09.99\00:17:11.33 when he wants to get back with his wife, 00:17:11.36\00:17:12.69 he's gonna try to work things out with his wife 00:17:12.73\00:17:14.43 but he's still gonna hold on to the other sister 00:17:14.46\00:17:16.16 and wean himself off of her 00:17:16.20\00:17:18.40 until he's just ready to give her up one day. 00:17:18.43\00:17:21.10 Now, no woman with common sense 00:17:21.14\00:17:22.47 at least would ever agree to such an agreement 00:17:22.50\00:17:24.61 but we expect God to be dumb down to such a point 00:17:24.64\00:17:27.08 that He will agree to such an agreement. 00:17:27.11\00:17:28.61 God hates sin, it breaks up the relationship 00:17:28.64\00:17:30.91 with those whom he loved and whom he died for. 00:17:30.95\00:17:32.85 And he wants us to be separated from that 00:17:32.88\00:17:34.85 and Christ has enough power to deliver us. 00:17:34.88\00:17:37.32 We don't, but Jesus does. 00:17:37.35\00:17:39.09 But that message has to come across to these precious souls, 00:17:39.12\00:17:41.59 these brothers here to let them know, 00:17:41.62\00:17:43.29 "Guys, you can't hold on to this 00:17:43.32\00:17:46.09 and hold on to Jesus at the same time." 00:17:46.13\00:17:48.00 It does not work. 00:17:48.03\00:17:49.36 And that's the key, 00:17:49.40\00:17:50.73 it's going to lead to normally is one of two things. 00:17:50.77\00:17:54.07 Either you're gonna have an individual 00:17:54.10\00:17:55.80 who practices this kind of, you know, 00:17:55.84\00:17:59.04 circular Christianity where they're kind of, 00:17:59.07\00:18:01.44 you know, close to God, far away from God, 00:18:01.48\00:18:03.35 close to God and literally, that will create 00:18:03.38\00:18:05.31 a psychological emotional problem 00:18:05.35\00:18:08.38 where you will begin to feel guilt, 00:18:08.42\00:18:12.02 and remorse, and, you know, stress, 00:18:12.05\00:18:14.16 associated relationship with God and eventually, 00:18:14.19\00:18:16.12 you're just gonna cut it off. 00:18:16.16\00:18:17.49 You eventually gonna find yourself as quickly, 00:18:17.53\00:18:20.16 and as faithfully as you gave your heart to the Lord 00:18:20.20\00:18:22.40 and came into the church, 00:18:22.43\00:18:23.77 you'll do that on your way out the door. 00:18:23.80\00:18:26.23 Because you won't see the value, 00:18:26.27\00:18:27.60 you won't see the power. 00:18:27.64\00:18:28.97 There'll be no power in that form of Christianity 00:18:29.00\00:18:31.04 because you are trying to mingle the profane 00:18:31.07\00:18:34.18 and the sacred. 00:18:34.21\00:18:35.54 And then there's the other side of it 00:18:35.58\00:18:37.05 where you'll just become a cultural Christian, 00:18:37.08\00:18:39.65 meaning you'll hold on to some cultural norms, 00:18:39.68\00:18:43.02 you, you know, go through a ritual, 00:18:43.05\00:18:46.09 a religious ritual like baptism. 00:18:46.12\00:18:47.76 You might attend church here and there when you're able. 00:18:47.79\00:18:50.76 You might pray before you eat, you know, 00:18:50.79\00:18:52.49 you might get your kids into the church. 00:18:52.53\00:18:54.76 I mean, there's little things that you do 00:18:54.80\00:18:56.36 but it's simply just a cultural practice 00:18:56.40\00:18:58.40 just like, you know, anything else. 00:18:58.43\00:19:00.77 And again, with that form of Christianity, 00:19:00.80\00:19:02.97 there's no power. 00:19:03.00\00:19:04.34 That's right. There's no power. 00:19:04.37\00:19:05.71 And you know, it reminds me of a story 00:19:05.74\00:19:07.08 in the Book of Isaiah. 00:19:07.11\00:19:08.44 In Isaiah 3:16-26, God began to strongly rebuke 00:19:08.48\00:19:11.98 what was known as the Haughty Daughters of Zion. 00:19:12.01\00:19:14.28 They, unfortunately, were the people of God, 00:19:14.32\00:19:16.28 the women of God, 00:19:16.32\00:19:17.65 but they were more consumed with their looks in men 00:19:17.69\00:19:19.92 and all these other things 00:19:19.95\00:19:21.29 that they began to do all sorts of stuff. 00:19:21.32\00:19:22.66 They dwelt themselves up 00:19:22.69\00:19:24.03 and smother themselves with all these perfumes. 00:19:24.06\00:19:25.83 I mean, they did everything possible 00:19:25.86\00:19:27.23 to just grab a man. 00:19:27.26\00:19:28.60 And God began to give very strong rebukes 00:19:28.63\00:19:31.37 because of this vanity that they were practicing. 00:19:31.40\00:19:34.60 Well, then in Isaiah 4, 00:19:34.64\00:19:35.97 continuing from that as God was given the rebukes 00:19:36.00\00:19:38.04 in Isaiah 3, in Isaiah 4, he goes on to say, 00:19:38.07\00:19:41.54 "And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, 00:19:41.58\00:19:44.98 saying, we will eat our own bread, 00:19:45.01\00:19:47.45 and wear our own apparel, 00:19:47.48\00:19:49.08 only let us be called by thy name, 00:19:49.12\00:19:52.35 to take away our reproach." 00:19:52.39\00:19:54.29 And the same way that we can look at this literal story 00:19:54.32\00:19:56.42 of what was happening with these women, 00:19:56.46\00:19:57.79 they basically lost their senses 00:19:57.83\00:19:59.29 and they were consumed with the acquiring of men 00:19:59.33\00:20:02.76 even at the compromise of their relationship with God. 00:20:02.80\00:20:05.67 A woman can also prophetically represent a church. 00:20:05.70\00:20:09.20 It can represent people 00:20:09.24\00:20:10.74 who claim to know God and worship God. 00:20:10.77\00:20:12.97 And what God can say to us 00:20:13.01\00:20:14.61 is also the same principle He said to these woman 00:20:14.64\00:20:17.25 that there are a lot of church people, 00:20:17.28\00:20:19.98 a lot of so-called Christians at least, 00:20:20.02\00:20:22.18 that are going around saying, "You know what, 00:20:22.22\00:20:23.95 I'm gonna eat my own bread, I'm gonna do what I want, 00:20:23.99\00:20:26.76 but I still want to be called by Your right name. 00:20:26.79\00:20:29.09 I still want You to take away my reproach. 00:20:29.12\00:20:31.43 It's all right that Jesus is my Savior. 00:20:31.46\00:20:33.60 Just don't start bothering me and trying to be my Lord, 00:20:33.63\00:20:35.70 don't start telling me what to do, 00:20:35.73\00:20:37.07 when to do, and how to do." 00:20:37.10\00:20:38.43 And this is literally popular Christianity today. 00:20:38.47\00:20:41.04 So there is a lot of the nominal Christianity 00:20:41.07\00:20:43.94 as you're talking about it 00:20:43.97\00:20:45.31 where individuals wanna eat their own bread, 00:20:45.34\00:20:46.68 they wanna do their own thing 00:20:46.71\00:20:48.04 but they still wanna be called by God's name. 00:20:48.08\00:20:49.84 They still want that benefit. 00:20:49.88\00:20:51.55 And, in fact, we find that there was another artist 00:20:51.58\00:20:54.48 that we can look at very quickly. 00:20:54.52\00:20:55.98 You know, another major hip-hop artist 00:20:56.02\00:20:58.85 at one time, 00:20:58.89\00:21:00.22 and then walked away to follow Christ, 00:21:00.26\00:21:03.26 but now has come back to the hip-hop culture, 00:21:03.29\00:21:05.96 and is again getting ready to, you know, 00:21:05.99\00:21:07.80 release the albums and do all these things 00:21:07.83\00:21:09.16 in powerful way. 00:21:09.20\00:21:10.53 And not only that, 00:21:10.57\00:21:11.90 he left hip-hop to become a pastor, 00:21:11.93\00:21:13.87 I mean, he started a ministry, he had several churches, 00:21:13.90\00:21:16.44 and he was, you know, "Successful Pastor". 00:21:16.47\00:21:19.94 And then he came back to hip-hop. 00:21:19.97\00:21:22.21 And, you know, and then he went back to being a pastor. 00:21:22.24\00:21:25.21 And now, you know, officially I guess 00:21:25.25\00:21:27.35 he's rejecting the ministry 00:21:27.38\00:21:29.88 and he's now going back full time into hip-hop, 00:21:29.92\00:21:33.32 and to be a rapper. 00:21:33.36\00:21:34.69 And we're talking about Mase. 00:21:34.72\00:21:36.39 He was very popular back in the '90s with, 00:21:36.42\00:21:38.93 you know, Sean Combs whatever they call him now. 00:21:38.96\00:21:42.50 P. Diddy. Yeah, Bad Boy Records. 00:21:42.53\00:21:44.73 And he left and came back as Murda Mase 00:21:44.77\00:21:47.64 and he came back, you know, just a lot of issues. 00:21:47.67\00:21:49.90 And now he's in this interview, 00:21:49.94\00:21:51.91 fielding some of these questions 00:21:51.94\00:21:53.27 of some of his critics. 00:21:53.31\00:21:54.64 So I guess, let's go ahead 00:21:54.68\00:21:56.01 and let's take a look at this clip as well 00:21:56.04\00:21:57.38 and let's, you know, continue to build in our discussion. 00:21:57.41\00:21:59.78 How do you deal with the criticism 00:21:59.81\00:22:01.38 that people say, "You can't be a rapper, 00:22:01.42\00:22:03.18 and listen and rap about these things 00:22:03.22\00:22:05.15 and then at the same time, be a man of God, 00:22:05.19\00:22:07.09 speaking and preaching to the choir." 00:22:07.12\00:22:08.46 How do you deal with that criticism? 00:22:08.49\00:22:11.26 I don't. 00:22:11.29\00:22:13.36 I believe everybody have the right 00:22:13.40\00:22:14.80 to their own opinion. 00:22:14.83\00:22:16.16 I believe when you're a trailblazer, 00:22:16.20\00:22:17.60 you take the lashes for everybody else 00:22:17.63\00:22:21.44 to be able to do something freely. 00:22:21.47\00:22:23.41 You know, when you see things before it happens, 00:22:23.44\00:22:26.88 that's when a future belongs to you. 00:22:26.91\00:22:29.31 When you can see it, and you can go towards it, 00:22:29.34\00:22:31.85 and you can obtain it. 00:22:31.88\00:22:33.21 And now looking back, somebody say, 00:22:33.25\00:22:34.75 "Well, how can you do this and how can you do that?" 00:22:34.78\00:22:36.95 It's a real simple answer because I can. 00:22:36.99\00:22:39.35 If I couldn't, I wouldn't. 00:22:39.39\00:22:40.72 And you know what's interesting both things that you do... 00:22:40.76\00:22:42.66 And I don't mean that in arrogant way. 00:22:42.69\00:22:44.19 It's just I have the ability to do it. 00:22:44.23\00:22:47.06 I got to hold a conversation on both realms. 00:22:47.10\00:22:49.40 I think that's a testament that hip-hop artist embodies 00:22:49.43\00:22:55.00 more than just the way people will like to place us like, 00:22:55.04\00:22:57.67 you take a guy like Jay Z, he did music 00:22:57.71\00:23:00.54 but didn't he went on to be a businessman? 00:23:00.58\00:23:02.84 And people praised it even though he was a rapper, 00:23:02.88\00:23:05.75 50 Cents, went on to do stuff. 00:23:05.78\00:23:07.95 And he is a rapper and they praised him. 00:23:07.98\00:23:09.65 And Puff Daddy went on to sell liquor 00:23:09.68\00:23:13.02 and everything else and they praised it. 00:23:13.05\00:23:15.02 So why, when it comes to me, 00:23:15.06\00:23:17.16 being able to be a rapper and something else, 00:23:17.19\00:23:19.49 all of the backlash? 00:23:19.53\00:23:20.90 It's kind of ignorant. 00:23:20.93\00:23:22.26 There's kind of similarity too 00:23:22.30\00:23:23.63 between preaching and entertaining 00:23:23.67\00:23:25.70 in a weird way. 00:23:25.73\00:23:27.07 Does it ever helped you with, you know, 00:23:27.10\00:23:28.80 have your history onstage 00:23:28.84\00:23:30.84 help you become a better preacher, 00:23:30.87\00:23:32.61 giving sermons. 00:23:32.64\00:23:33.98 And the same way, 00:23:34.01\00:23:35.34 did it help you to become a better rapper 00:23:35.38\00:23:36.71 with knowing how to, you know, 00:23:36.75\00:23:38.08 take these messages and write them better? 00:23:38.11\00:23:39.45 I think for me, the reason why people get upset with me 00:23:39.48\00:23:43.52 because they don't really know me, 00:23:43.55\00:23:45.79 they have to get to know me. 00:23:45.82\00:23:47.32 Because just like you mentioned, 00:23:47.36\00:23:48.82 a preacher like, 00:23:48.86\00:23:50.19 I don't look at myself as a preacher 00:23:50.23\00:23:51.59 but that's the way people would title it 00:23:51.63\00:23:54.90 as I look at myself as a teacher. 00:23:54.93\00:23:56.77 A preacher is like a guy who yells, and moans, 00:23:56.80\00:23:59.77 and sing and I don't do that. 00:23:59.80\00:24:01.27 A teacher just comes in and say, 00:24:01.30\00:24:02.94 "A, you wanna get to B this is how you get there." 00:24:02.97\00:24:06.07 And then I'm done. 00:24:06.11\00:24:07.44 And you can do it on both ends from music to the church? 00:24:07.48\00:24:09.48 Yeah. 00:24:09.51\00:24:10.85 So this is not a situation where we're going to, again, 00:24:10.88\00:24:14.12 bash an individual. 00:24:14.15\00:24:15.48 Right. 00:24:15.52\00:24:16.85 We're gonna say this is a man, 00:24:16.89\00:24:18.22 we're gonna take him at his word, 00:24:18.25\00:24:19.89 but there's several problems with some of the conclusions 00:24:19.92\00:24:22.99 that he's drawn, 00:24:23.02\00:24:24.36 at least in this interview and statements 00:24:24.39\00:24:25.76 that he's making. 00:24:25.79\00:24:27.66 We don't have time to go back through the whole history 00:24:27.70\00:24:29.53 but, you know, several instances 00:24:29.56\00:24:31.30 in which he went into ministry, 00:24:31.33\00:24:33.00 came back into the music industry, 00:24:33.03\00:24:35.34 went back into ministry, 00:24:35.37\00:24:36.71 came back and now he's finally coming back 00:24:36.74\00:24:38.07 into the music industry. 00:24:38.11\00:24:39.91 And the questions that the interviewer is giving 00:24:39.94\00:24:41.84 are very straight forward. 00:24:41.88\00:24:43.21 I mean, what do you say about to your critics 00:24:43.24\00:24:45.58 that are criticizing this idea that you can kind of do both? 00:24:45.61\00:24:49.48 And ultimately, he says, "Listen, 00:24:49.52\00:24:50.85 I can do both because I can. 00:24:50.89\00:24:52.65 I mean, I can see the future. 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.79 I think we all should have this freedom to do 00:24:54.82\00:24:57.59 what we want to do, do what we need to do." 00:24:57.63\00:25:00.13 And it doesn't... 00:25:00.16\00:25:01.83 It's an answer 00:25:01.86\00:25:03.83 that is not based on scripture or God's word. 00:25:03.87\00:25:07.37 It's just an answer based on what you think. 00:25:07.40\00:25:10.07 And what you have concluded is right and true and just. 00:25:10.11\00:25:14.11 And so I think this is, ultimately, 00:25:14.14\00:25:16.54 where we are gonna have to give people 00:25:16.58\00:25:18.01 the benefit of the doubt 00:25:18.05\00:25:19.38 and just assume that they don't know. 00:25:19.41\00:25:21.38 Whoever was teaching them, whoever their mentors were, 00:25:21.42\00:25:23.79 whatever minister, you know, 00:25:23.82\00:25:25.25 mentored them and they didn't teach them the truth. 00:25:25.29\00:25:28.52 They just gave them, you know, man's opinion 00:25:28.56\00:25:31.89 or man's interpretation of what God says. 00:25:31.93\00:25:34.36 And that has led them to this area 00:25:34.40\00:25:36.70 where they can draw such false conclusions. 00:25:36.73\00:25:39.30 There is no situation in which a man can be both 00:25:39.33\00:25:43.71 a minister of the gospel and a gun-play, 00:25:43.74\00:25:47.61 murder-talk, you know, money, you know... 00:25:47.64\00:25:51.65 What is it that... 00:25:51.68\00:25:53.52 I don't even wanna mention some of the songs 00:25:53.55\00:25:54.88 they used to have. 00:25:54.92\00:25:56.25 But, you know, that idea that you're a gangster thug, 00:25:56.28\00:25:58.79 you know, killer and at the same time, 00:25:58.82\00:26:00.89 you're a minister. 00:26:00.92\00:26:02.26 It just can't, it doesn't mix. 00:26:02.29\00:26:03.63 I don't know, you can explain it 00:26:03.66\00:26:04.99 in whichever way you want. 00:26:05.03\00:26:06.36 So these are some of the real problems 00:26:06.39\00:26:08.46 that we have and what we're gonna do, 00:26:08.50\00:26:10.60 you know, is, 00:26:10.63\00:26:12.87 when moving forward in future episodes, 00:26:12.90\00:26:14.70 we're gonna look at how this has now bridged 00:26:14.74\00:26:18.84 into the church. 00:26:18.87\00:26:20.21 So we looked at industry heads 00:26:20.24\00:26:22.68 that have made Christian profession, 00:26:22.71\00:26:24.78 then we looked at one who was with one hand in 00:26:24.81\00:26:27.62 and one hand out both church and industry. 00:26:27.65\00:26:30.15 And now we're gonna see 00:26:30.19\00:26:31.52 what it looks like in the church. 00:26:31.55\00:26:33.12 And I think to do this thing, a real service, 00:26:33.15\00:26:35.99 we're gonna have to look at a little bit of history. 00:26:36.02\00:26:37.56 Yeah. And we're gonna look at that as well. 00:26:37.59\00:26:39.93 Where does this whole thing come from? 00:26:39.96\00:26:42.03 Where does it originate? 00:26:42.06\00:26:43.40 Because, ultimately, you have to answer the question, 00:26:43.43\00:26:47.80 do genres, do musical genres really matter? 00:26:47.84\00:26:50.57 Or is genre is completely neutral, 00:26:50.61\00:26:53.11 and whatever words are put to that music 00:26:53.14\00:26:54.94 is what is reality? 00:26:54.98\00:26:56.31 We're gonna answer those questions. 00:26:56.34\00:26:57.68 Yeah, and it has to be answered 00:26:57.71\00:26:59.05 because that is where we are today. 00:26:59.08\00:27:00.62 This is a present issue 00:27:00.65\00:27:02.48 and what is needed is present truth 00:27:02.52\00:27:04.22 to address those issues. 00:27:04.25\00:27:05.75 And thank God, the Lord has it. 00:27:05.79\00:27:07.66 You know, friends, we have gone through several video clips, 00:27:07.69\00:27:10.83 we've looked at concepts and ideas, 00:27:10.86\00:27:12.49 and we're comparing them with the word of God. 00:27:12.53\00:27:14.80 And as, you know, there's always deeper, 00:27:14.83\00:27:16.53 there's more that we can do. 00:27:16.56\00:27:18.23 And that's why we have the continuation 00:27:18.27\00:27:19.63 of our episodes where we build, 00:27:19.67\00:27:21.04 and build, and build, and build. 00:27:21.07\00:27:22.77 But I am hoping that your eyes are opening 00:27:22.80\00:27:25.44 and seeing the comparison 00:27:25.47\00:27:27.31 between hip-hop culture and Christian culture, 00:27:27.34\00:27:29.71 and seeing the efforts now of trying to blend the two. 00:27:29.74\00:27:33.55 This is not by accident, 00:27:33.58\00:27:35.08 it was something that was prophesied in principle, 00:27:35.12\00:27:37.82 and we're gonna see it unfold 00:27:37.85\00:27:39.45 more and more as we dig deeper in our further episodes. 00:27:39.49\00:27:42.92 So continue to keep studying, 00:27:42.96\00:27:44.46 continue to keep seeking the Lord, 00:27:44.49\00:27:46.16 and letting His word and His will be done 00:27:46.19\00:27:48.66 in your life rather than our own 00:27:48.70\00:27:50.53 and living by our own words. 00:27:50.57\00:27:52.07 And until then, 00:27:52.10\00:27:53.44 remember the wonderful words 00:27:53.47\00:27:55.70 which tells us, "It is the Lord that gives wisdom 00:27:55.74\00:27:58.47 and out of His mouth 00:27:58.51\00:28:00.04 comes knowledge and understanding." 00:28:00.08\00:28:02.38 God bless you. 00:28:02.41\00:28:03.75
