as stated by its thought leaders

to what constitutes

in its expression.

of, you know, kind of saying,

and I'm gonna tell you

elements in hip-hop culture

that we need to consider

in or break dancing.

you have your expression

the fifth element

were other expressions

fashion to street style dancing

style entrepreneurship

So there's lots of elements
that make up hip-hop culture

which ultimately is expression.

It boils down to expression.

Things is happening

within a certain
group of class of people

used to study martial arts

and when I studied it,

I looked at many
different disciplines.

taekwondo, I took shuriken

and a lot of these other things.

And as I stated
before for clarity, you know,

especially for our
viewers, these are things today

that I would not advocate

because I see them
adverse to Christian principle,

the practice of martial arts

demonstrated in our world today.

Nevertheless in my past
these were real experiences,

and I was doing studies

because I remember
there was a martial art form

that really caught my attention

and it was a amalgamation
of martial arts and dancing.

It was called Capoeira

which was birthed out of Brazil,

and what was interesting is that

because the people did
not want to be identified

by what was
happening in that time

as it relates to the military

and being looked upon as
possible revolutionaries,

you know, if they see
you practicing martial arts,

then this would suddenly become

a potential danger to
the government at that time.

Then they started to disguise
their martial art practices

in the form of dancing.

And lo and behold, this is how
the Capoeira style was birthed,

dancing martial art form.

Well, today, that's
even been engrafted now

even into the various forms of
expression in hip-hop culture,

where there's a lot of jumping
and flipping and etcetera

which fits very
much with the breaking.

And these things are
considered to be cultural.

They are considered
to be forms of expression

and no one wants
to be suppressed,

no one wants to feel like,
"Why can't I express myself?

And the way we've been
talking about hip-hop culture

it would seem

probably saying to people,

hip-hop culture is something

that, it should be suppressed,

that somebody may say,

that this culture

happens sometimes.

talk about principles,

of throw it back at you.

consider what the Bible says

that I might gain the more.

become whatever it takes

Well, this may be a
rationale that's used

even in hip-hop culture to say,

hip-hop culture deals

with a lot of what was
happening in the streets

and therefore to
those in the street,

we have to become
like those in the street.

So what is wrong with us

being able to
practice certain things

culture of the street

and that we are to
glorify God in our body

that we're not at

It's another little

the people that
literally almost live

at these local bars

and he left that
to become a Christian,

and he had a desire to
go and reach those people

that he kind of left behind,
you know, in that same culture.

And he had the idea
that he was going to go

and gauge in
like a bar ministry,

he was going to go in
ministry to visit these bars,

to try to win the alcoholics

and the people
that he hung around with

at these bars

and we, you know,
for many, many reasons,

this is not a good idea

because you are telling God

to reach the people

less than a year ago,

at the bar drinking

and I was an alcoholic,

and now I'm going to
put myself in the situation

where all of that temptation
and all of those triggers

and psychological
triggers are going to be there,

and I'm just going to
demand that God protects me.

say, "Well, wait a minute,

mingle with sinners?

bar and sit down with sinners?

example of Christ."

How would we help an individual

Well, the key is this.

we are never allowed,

The bottom line
is, in any situation

entered into the scene,

He always directed
all of the audience

to the kingdom of God.

He used it as a deliberate means

to direct people to the kingdom,

not as some means

just to hang out at a
party or hang out somewhere

and hopefully people
might become friendly

and somehow He might be
able to do something later.

friendship evangelism.

remember in my experience

when I was trying to
evangelize a friend of mine,

love playing video games,

convicted on several levels

about my video game times.

Number one, it
was a waste of time.

I mean, I wasn't
developing, growing,

I wasn't getting any better
in any area of life really,

so I had a problem with that

because I
believe in development.

Nevertheless, I also felt
that the games we were playing

was not good for my mind,

because we would
play martial art game,

Tekken and Mortal
Combat and these type of games

where you're pulling people's
heads out of their bodies

and this horrible gory stuff.

So I got convicted about it.
