Hello, I'm Dwayne. 00:00:28.96\00:00:30.29 And I'm Lance. 00:00:30.33\00:00:31.66 And we'd like to welcome you to another episode of TKS, 00:00:31.69\00:00:34.06 a True Knowledge of Self 00:00:34.10\00:00:35.56 where we get to know ourselves from a biblical perspective. 00:00:35.60\00:00:38.77 As we continue our discussion 00:00:38.80\00:00:40.64 revolving around this recreation, 00:00:40.67\00:00:42.87 the subject of what is biblical recreation, 00:00:42.90\00:00:46.07 what essentially is safely having fun 00:00:46.11\00:00:48.91 as referred to in the hip-hop culture? 00:00:48.94\00:00:51.51 We looked at several principles, 00:00:51.55\00:00:52.88 we have several more to look at. 00:00:52.91\00:00:54.78 And we want to spend as much time 00:00:54.82\00:00:57.09 as necessary on this subject 00:00:57.12\00:00:58.99 because it is very, very practical. 00:00:59.02\00:01:01.49 We're getting past this stage in which we're talking about 00:01:01.52\00:01:05.29 the things, you know, 00:01:05.33\00:01:06.70 not to do per se, the things to do, 00:01:06.73\00:01:09.10 we want to show and give examples of principles 00:01:09.13\00:01:12.33 and how to apply them. 00:01:12.37\00:01:14.87 Without doing that, 00:01:14.90\00:01:16.24 we're kind of doing you a disservice 00:01:16.27\00:01:18.37 and it's not the way that God operates. 00:01:18.41\00:01:19.74 God always gives instruction 00:01:19.77\00:01:21.61 and He tells us then how to do it 00:01:21.64\00:01:23.98 and He gives us the power to execute it 00:01:24.01\00:01:26.31 even if it goes 00:01:26.35\00:01:27.68 against our every desire and natural impulse. 00:01:27.72\00:01:31.85 So we talked about a lot of principles. 00:01:31.89\00:01:34.29 You're going to bring some back. 00:01:34.32\00:01:35.99 I just want to recap 00:01:36.02\00:01:37.53 because we dealt with three so far. 00:01:37.56\00:01:39.26 Yes. 00:01:39.29\00:01:40.63 The first one we dealt with was, 00:01:40.66\00:01:42.00 "is this form of recreation, does this form of recreation 00:01:42.03\00:01:44.90 violate my conscience?" 00:01:44.93\00:01:46.27 Right. 00:01:46.30\00:01:47.64 "Does it go against something that I believe to be 00:01:47.67\00:01:49.00 right or wrong?" 00:01:49.04\00:01:50.37 Now just an important point to add to that, 00:01:50.41\00:01:53.04 there has to be something that we use as evidence. 00:01:53.07\00:01:56.85 In other words, if I think I feel 00:01:56.88\00:01:59.45 that in my conscience that this is wrong, 00:01:59.48\00:02:01.88 I can feel that, that's all right, 00:02:01.92\00:02:03.52 but it's my responsibility to go and search that out, 00:02:03.55\00:02:06.65 to investigate, to figure out 00:02:06.69\00:02:08.42 if my feeling and my sentiment 00:02:08.46\00:02:10.73 is in line with the truth 00:02:10.76\00:02:12.46 because the truth has to inform 00:02:12.49\00:02:14.36 how I respond and feel about these things. 00:02:14.40\00:02:16.77 So we can't violate our conscience 00:02:16.80\00:02:19.20 but sometimes people might be sincerely wrong. 00:02:19.23\00:02:22.47 Yes. 00:02:22.50\00:02:23.84 And it's okay not to violate the conscience in that context, 00:02:23.87\00:02:26.37 but their responsibility is to find out 00:02:26.41\00:02:28.11 if their conscience is even correct. 00:02:28.14\00:02:30.68 That's correct. 00:02:30.71\00:02:32.05 So we saw how God informs our conscience 00:02:32.08\00:02:33.58 via the Holy Ghost 00:02:33.62\00:02:34.95 and we saw that the Word informs our conscience. 00:02:34.98\00:02:37.15 That's right. 00:02:37.19\00:02:38.52 The second principle we looked at is, 00:02:38.55\00:02:40.06 what we are doing, 00:02:40.09\00:02:42.19 not only is it important to know how it impacts us, 00:02:42.22\00:02:45.13 but it's important to look at how it impacts those around us, 00:02:45.16\00:02:48.83 or those that might be witnessing us do it, 00:02:48.86\00:02:50.80 or the message that it's sending to others 00:02:50.83\00:02:52.83 who consume, or see, or view what we do. 00:02:52.87\00:02:56.17 The third principle we looked at is, 00:02:56.20\00:02:57.54 does this practice 00:02:57.57\00:02:59.77 violate the principle of my body 00:02:59.81\00:03:02.71 being the Temple of God? 00:03:02.74\00:03:04.41 Does it help me glorify God 00:03:04.45\00:03:06.85 in my body physically 00:03:06.88\00:03:08.45 or does it lead to something else? 00:03:08.48\00:03:09.95 We looked at a lot of things 00:03:09.98\00:03:11.35 that some people might feel a little bit uncomfortable with 00:03:11.39\00:03:13.39 but the bottom line is 00:03:13.42\00:03:14.76 according to 1 Corinthians 6:19 and 20, 00:03:14.79\00:03:16.73 "Our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Ghost." 00:03:16.76\00:03:19.83 So we're not at liberty 00:03:19.86\00:03:22.03 because we were bought with a price. 00:03:22.06\00:03:23.50 We are not at liberty to do what we want. 00:03:23.53\00:03:26.30 That's correct. 00:03:26.33\00:03:27.67 As many, in Paul's age, in a biblical age were doing, 00:03:27.70\00:03:31.71 were meshing, trying to mingle 00:03:31.74\00:03:33.88 cultural practices with devotion to Christ. 00:03:33.91\00:03:38.71 So people are doing that today. That's right. 00:03:38.75\00:03:40.75 So help us understand a little bit further 00:03:40.78\00:03:42.75 because there's more principles that the Bible brings out, 00:03:42.78\00:03:44.52 so what is the first thing 00:03:44.55\00:03:46.05 that we're going to cover today? 00:03:46.09\00:03:47.42 Okay. Well, we're going to look at 1 Thessalonians 5. 00:03:47.46\00:03:49.66 This is another principle that we can consider 00:03:49.69\00:03:51.56 when we want to have fun, enjoyment, 00:03:51.59\00:03:53.70 or what is better termed recreation. 00:03:53.73\00:03:55.80 When we think about this, 00:03:55.83\00:03:57.17 we want the Word of God to be our guide. 00:03:57.20\00:03:58.83 "Man should not live by bread alone 00:03:58.87\00:04:00.40 but by every Word 00:04:00.44\00:04:01.77 that proceeds out of the mouth of God." 00:04:01.80\00:04:03.61 So when we look at 1 Thessalonians 5, 00:04:03.64\00:04:06.11 we are going to consider verses 21 and 22. 00:04:06.14\00:04:08.61 And this is good. 00:04:08.64\00:04:09.98 It says, "Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. 00:04:10.01\00:04:15.32 Abstain from all appearance of evil." 00:04:15.35\00:04:18.65 When somebody says, 00:04:18.69\00:04:20.02 "Hey, I got a great idea 00:04:20.06\00:04:21.52 of something we can do in the name of fun." 00:04:21.56\00:04:24.49 It is not enough to just function 00:04:24.53\00:04:26.43 by emotional stimulus or curiosity 00:04:26.46\00:04:29.43 because many a times this is how people end up 00:04:29.46\00:04:31.43 getting hurt and sometimes even losing their lives. 00:04:31.47\00:04:33.94 Things that sounds good, 00:04:33.97\00:04:35.30 maybe it feels good, or what have you. 00:04:35.34\00:04:36.67 The Bible says, "Prove all things." 00:04:36.71\00:04:39.61 Test it. 00:04:39.64\00:04:40.98 Look at it and say, "Well, wait a minute, 00:04:41.01\00:04:42.34 if I do this, how will this affect me?" 00:04:42.38\00:04:44.25 You know, "What kind of example does this lead?" 00:04:44.28\00:04:46.55 You know, you have to think about several things 00:04:46.58\00:04:49.12 before you just get involved. 00:04:49.15\00:04:50.62 So the key thing that God is telling us here is think, 00:04:50.65\00:04:53.12 you know, think about what you're getting ready to do 00:04:53.15\00:04:55.02 before you do it, prove it, 00:04:55.06\00:04:56.83 and then hold fast to it if it's good. 00:04:56.86\00:04:59.23 If it is good, and as you stated, 00:04:59.26\00:05:01.23 that good is determined by the Lord 00:05:01.26\00:05:03.80 from His Word through principle or detail. 00:05:03.83\00:05:07.34 There are some things in the Bible 00:05:07.37\00:05:08.70 that it says it in detailed manner 00:05:08.74\00:05:11.27 that this is this and that is that. 00:05:11.31\00:05:12.97 But then there are many things 00:05:13.01\00:05:14.34 that are happening in our society today 00:05:14.38\00:05:16.14 that the Bible may not have addressed in detail 00:05:16.18\00:05:19.51 but in principle it has. 00:05:19.55\00:05:21.12 So in either case, 00:05:21.15\00:05:22.48 you're going to get the scriptures, 00:05:22.52\00:05:23.85 you want to be able to test it. 00:05:23.89\00:05:25.22 And this is something that I know 00:05:25.25\00:05:26.59 is not common even in the church 00:05:26.62\00:05:29.49 and, of course, not in the world, 00:05:29.52\00:05:31.03 and yet it is most essential. 00:05:31.06\00:05:33.09 It is the safe ground. 00:05:33.13\00:05:34.83 When God gives us these counsels, 00:05:34.86\00:05:37.00 He's not doing it to hurt us. 00:05:37.03\00:05:38.47 He's doing it to help us. 00:05:38.50\00:05:39.93 And the reason I know this is because I've experimented this. 00:05:39.97\00:05:43.10 I am a father of four children 00:05:43.14\00:05:44.77 and I definitely don't want my children 00:05:44.81\00:05:46.17 to think life is boring and Christianity is boring, 00:05:46.21\00:05:48.64 and it is not by any stretch of the imagination, 00:05:48.68\00:05:51.45 yet it is imperative that before we embrace something, 00:05:51.48\00:05:54.78 we got to prove it, 00:05:54.82\00:05:56.15 and we got to make sure it is good, 00:05:56.18\00:05:57.82 and we can only do that by the word, 00:05:57.85\00:05:59.62 and the same way it says, 00:05:59.65\00:06:00.99 "Abstain from all appearance of evil." 00:06:01.02\00:06:03.66 That is something else that I have to do is 00:06:03.69\00:06:05.49 I got to search the Bible to say, 00:06:05.53\00:06:06.86 what does the Bible call evil? 00:06:06.90\00:06:08.73 I'll give you one example. Yeah. 00:06:08.76\00:06:10.37 One example is in Nehemiah. 00:06:10.40\00:06:12.67 In Nehemiah 13:15-18, 00:06:12.70\00:06:15.80 Nehemiah sees a whole bunch of his brethren 00:06:15.84\00:06:18.54 that were breaking the Sabbath, 00:06:18.57\00:06:20.24 they were breaking the Sabbath day. 00:06:20.28\00:06:22.51 They were profaning it, 00:06:22.54\00:06:23.95 and when they were doing this by buying and selling 00:06:23.98\00:06:26.65 and conducting business as any other regular day, 00:06:26.68\00:06:29.48 he came to them and he said something very specific. 00:06:29.52\00:06:32.02 And I'm just going to give you one example when we talk about, 00:06:32.05\00:06:33.86 "avoid even the appearance of evil or what have you." 00:06:33.89\00:06:36.69 I'm just going to give you one example here 00:06:36.73\00:06:38.49 in Nehemiah as we consider the verse. 00:06:38.53\00:06:40.76 So Nehemiah, we're looking at 13. 00:06:40.80\00:06:43.77 And this is what it says, "There dwelt men..." 00:06:43.80\00:06:46.37 Verse 16, "There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, 00:06:46.40\00:06:49.47 which brought fish, and all manner of ware, 00:06:49.50\00:06:51.34 and sold on the Sabbath unto the children of Judah, 00:06:51.37\00:06:54.08 and in Jerusalem. 00:06:54.11\00:06:55.51 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, 00:06:55.54\00:06:58.78 and said unto them, 00:06:58.81\00:07:00.35 "'What evil thing is this that ye do, 00:07:00.38\00:07:05.12 and profane the Sabbath day?'" 00:07:05.15\00:07:08.12 The Bible makes it clear that the Sabbath day, 00:07:08.16\00:07:11.29 when we do our regular duties, 00:07:11.33\00:07:13.33 our regular business, and etcetera, 00:07:13.36\00:07:15.36 on a day that God has designated these things 00:07:15.40\00:07:17.60 not to be done, if we do it anyhow, 00:07:17.63\00:07:20.37 the Bible says we profane the Sabbath 00:07:20.40\00:07:22.47 and it is called an evil thing. 00:07:22.50\00:07:24.61 So if somebody says, "I want to go ahead 00:07:24.64\00:07:26.64 and do a certain recreation." 00:07:26.68\00:07:28.31 Well, we have to test it according to the Word of God 00:07:28.34\00:07:30.81 and there are some things we can do 00:07:30.85\00:07:32.45 in the name of recreation that are good 00:07:32.48\00:07:34.85 but may not be designated as an example here, 00:07:34.88\00:07:37.29 on God's Sabbath day, and if we did it, 00:07:37.32\00:07:39.62 it would definitely be something 00:07:39.65\00:07:41.19 that the Bible would say is profaning the Sabbath. 00:07:41.22\00:07:43.63 Now, if I were to transition this principle 00:07:43.66\00:07:45.26 the hip-hop culture, 00:07:45.29\00:07:46.63 I can guarantee you the biggest night for a party, 00:07:46.66\00:07:50.63 a club, or a concert is Friday night. 00:07:50.67\00:07:53.17 And the Bible lets us know that Sabbath goes 00:07:53.20\00:07:55.00 from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. 00:07:55.04\00:07:57.31 So the Sabbath begins sunset Friday, 00:07:57.34\00:07:58.81 so it's an interesting thing to think 00:07:58.84\00:08:00.88 that if somebody wanted to go to a party, or club, 00:08:00.91\00:08:03.88 or a concert, 00:08:03.91\00:08:05.25 even though the party, club, or concert 00:08:05.28\00:08:06.61 in and of itself has to be tested by scripture, 00:08:06.65\00:08:10.19 even if by chance, it was something okay to do, 00:08:10.22\00:08:13.22 the question is, well, 00:08:13.25\00:08:14.59 if you are going to go ahead 00:08:14.62\00:08:15.96 and do these forms of recreation 00:08:15.99\00:08:17.33 on God's Sabbath day, 00:08:17.36\00:08:18.69 the Bible calls it an evil thing. 00:08:18.73\00:08:20.20 This will be one application out of literally hundreds. 00:08:20.23\00:08:23.23 So what we have to do is literally study the Bible 00:08:23.26\00:08:25.83 and find out what does God call evil. 00:08:25.87\00:08:28.00 Because there's a lot of people right now 00:08:28.04\00:08:29.60 that do a lot of things on a Friday night 00:08:29.64\00:08:31.61 and they think it's okay in a simple safe enjoyment 00:08:31.64\00:08:35.58 but God says it is an evil thing 00:08:35.61\00:08:37.55 because you are profaning my Sabbath, 00:08:37.58\00:08:39.65 and it can be applied in many other ways. 00:08:39.68\00:08:41.65 So we have to be very careful 00:08:41.68\00:08:43.52 that whatever recreational activity 00:08:43.55\00:08:46.05 you're going to get involved in, 00:08:46.09\00:08:47.69 you have to prove it, you have to test it. 00:08:47.72\00:08:49.92 If it is good, hold to it. 00:08:49.96\00:08:52.39 And make sure if it is evil, stay away from it. 00:08:52.43\00:08:55.73 And you have to search the Word of God 00:08:55.76\00:08:57.27 to understand what the Bible calls evil, 00:08:57.30\00:08:59.63 and then we have to make sure that 00:08:59.67\00:09:01.00 whatever it is, 00:09:01.04\00:09:02.37 this is not what I'm going to do then 00:09:02.40\00:09:03.74 even in the name of "having fun". 00:09:03.77\00:09:06.27 Right, and it reminds me of a story as well 00:09:06.31\00:09:09.54 when you're talking about the, you know, being mindful. 00:09:09.58\00:09:13.42 You know, the Bible talks about counting the cost. 00:09:13.45\00:09:15.95 Like what effect is this going to have on me? 00:09:15.98\00:09:18.79 If I do this, what effect is it going to have on me? 00:09:18.82\00:09:21.92 And, you know, even again, before I was a Christian, 00:09:21.96\00:09:26.76 one incident that comes to mind, 00:09:26.80\00:09:28.13 you know, I was always the person, you know, 00:09:28.16\00:09:30.73 in the crew to always try to make people think 00:09:30.77\00:09:35.00 about what we're getting ready to do 00:09:35.04\00:09:37.01 and see if you want to do it. 00:09:37.04\00:09:38.37 Right. 00:09:38.41\00:09:39.74 If you want to do it, I'm down, but if we're going to do this, 00:09:39.77\00:09:42.28 this is how we're going to do it. 00:09:42.31\00:09:43.65 Now, are you prepared to go this far? 00:09:43.68\00:09:45.01 That's right. 00:09:45.05\00:09:46.38 And so, you know, we were at another house party. 00:09:46.41\00:09:49.78 And I think, I don't know if we crashed it 00:09:49.82\00:09:51.45 or I don't know what happened. 00:09:51.49\00:09:52.82 In other words, if we showed up uninvited or what, 00:09:52.85\00:09:55.12 but we went there and we came there, you know, 00:09:55.16\00:09:58.09 I think two car loads at least of us 00:09:58.13\00:10:00.90 and the people that were there we didn't really respect them. 00:10:00.93\00:10:04.77 There were some other friends, you know, 00:10:04.80\00:10:06.13 from our community that we knew, 00:10:06.17\00:10:07.64 associates that we're okay with but the people, 00:10:07.67\00:10:10.61 the owners of the house, and we didn't respect them. 00:10:10.64\00:10:12.44 So as soon as we came there, there were, you know, 00:10:12.47\00:10:15.44 certain girls that came with us, 00:10:15.48\00:10:17.81 they were literally like looting the garage of the house 00:10:17.85\00:10:22.55 while we were inside in the party, 00:10:22.58\00:10:24.15 not like we planned that, 00:10:24.19\00:10:25.72 but they were just being, you know, 00:10:25.75\00:10:27.09 ignorant people and they were doing that. 00:10:27.12\00:10:29.19 And the girl came out there 00:10:29.22\00:10:30.56 and it ended up being a big confrontation 00:10:30.59\00:10:32.09 because at some point they were like, 00:10:32.13\00:10:33.46 "All right, we're going to go" 00:10:33.50\00:10:34.83 and they had already like loaded up the jeep 00:10:34.86\00:10:37.07 with massive amounts of stuff from the house. 00:10:37.10\00:10:40.34 And the owner of the house was, you know, obviously distressed. 00:10:40.37\00:10:44.17 Of course. 00:10:44.21\00:10:45.54 And she's trying to get her invited guests 00:10:45.57\00:10:47.28 to, kind of, vouch for her and stand for her 00:10:47.31\00:10:49.31 because they were also, you know, 00:10:49.34\00:10:50.68 people from around the way. 00:10:50.71\00:10:52.58 And so we had a big, like, showdown in front of the house. 00:10:52.61\00:10:57.89 We had one individual that was in our circle, 00:10:57.92\00:11:01.56 you know, extended circle and he was deaf, okay? 00:11:01.59\00:11:05.29 But, you know, he was just, you know, he grew up that way, 00:11:05.33\00:11:08.00 but you know, he wasn't impaired in any other way, 00:11:08.03\00:11:10.43 he was just hearing impaired, so he could communicate, 00:11:10.47\00:11:13.30 he could read lips, 00:11:13.34\00:11:14.67 and he could like give sounds 00:11:14.70\00:11:16.50 but he couldn't talk. 00:11:16.54\00:11:18.94 So anyways, everybody was 00:11:18.97\00:11:21.08 kind of intoxicated and everything, 00:11:21.11\00:11:22.44 so somebody, while this confrontation was taking place, 00:11:22.48\00:11:24.51 somebody was talking, you know, to him, 00:11:24.55\00:11:27.02 you know, and telling him all this stuff 00:11:27.05\00:11:29.25 and convincing him to do something. 00:11:29.28\00:11:30.82 So they convinced him to hit one of my friends. 00:11:30.85\00:11:34.89 They were friends, you know, 00:11:34.92\00:11:36.89 but they were able to take advantage of this kid 00:11:36.93\00:11:39.29 and make him hit one of our friends. 00:11:39.33\00:11:41.53 And then weapons were drawn. 00:11:41.56\00:11:43.80 So we, kind of, said, "Okay, you know, 00:11:43.83\00:11:48.97 you got this one and we're going to leave." 00:11:49.00\00:11:51.11 And so we went back to our, you know, 00:11:51.14\00:11:52.74 headquarters if you will and we had a conference. 00:11:52.77\00:11:55.71 We sat in council. 00:11:55.74\00:11:57.31 And you know what everybody wanted to do. 00:11:57.35\00:11:58.98 Everybody wanted to get better prepared, 00:11:59.01\00:12:00.92 better equipped, 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.28 and go back and settle this matter, right? 00:12:02.32\00:12:06.12 And so as they're, you know, processing all this, 00:12:06.15\00:12:08.92 I'm sitting there like, "Okay. 00:12:08.96\00:12:10.86 So let me get this. 00:12:10.89\00:12:12.26 This is the plan. 00:12:12.29\00:12:13.63 You guys want to go back and do xyz." 00:12:13.66\00:12:15.46 You know, they want to run up in the house 00:12:15.50\00:12:17.27 and do this and do that and do this. 00:12:17.30\00:12:19.17 I said, "Listen. 00:12:19.20\00:12:20.54 If we do this, 00:12:20.57\00:12:21.90 we're going to have to go to the full extent, 00:12:21.94\00:12:23.74 meaning we don't know 00:12:23.77\00:12:25.11 how many people are in the house. 00:12:25.14\00:12:26.47 We don't know who is what and where. 00:12:26.51\00:12:28.04 So if we go and do that, 00:12:28.08\00:12:30.05 we're going to have to make sure that we, 00:12:30.08\00:12:32.55 you know, finish whatever we start," 00:12:32.58\00:12:35.52 and that means however many people are in the house, 00:12:35.55\00:12:38.19 because we're not going to set up a situation 00:12:38.22\00:12:40.02 in which there's a possibility that we can go to prison. 00:12:40.06\00:12:42.82 I don't want to go to prison. Nobody wants to go to jail. 00:12:42.86\00:12:44.63 So if we're going to do this, 00:12:44.66\00:12:45.99 we got to do it all the way through. 00:12:46.03\00:12:48.16 And as all of that energy 00:12:48.20\00:12:49.60 and all the energy, soon, it was... 00:12:49.63\00:12:51.73 You know, it soon defused 00:12:51.77\00:12:54.54 because as people thought about it, 00:12:54.57\00:12:56.57 they wanted to do something 00:12:56.60\00:12:58.27 but they didn't want to go that far 00:12:58.31\00:13:00.94 because going that far, 00:13:00.98\00:13:02.31 you can't really turn back after that, you know. 00:13:02.34\00:13:04.08 And so the idea of 00:13:04.11\00:13:05.71 just thinking something through and saying, 00:13:05.75\00:13:08.15 "You know what, do I want to go this far? 00:13:08.18\00:13:10.99 What is going to be the result? 00:13:11.02\00:13:12.59 How is doing this thing going to affect me 00:13:12.62\00:13:15.22 even though if it might be momentary fun, 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.69 momentary enjoyment, momentary vindication, 00:13:17.73\00:13:20.70 you know, momentary justice? 00:13:20.73\00:13:22.53 Is this something that I want to do? 00:13:22.56\00:13:24.83 And if people would stop, and this is before, again, 00:13:24.87\00:13:27.14 I had no, you know, no scriptural knowledge. 00:13:27.17\00:13:30.51 If people would just take the time 00:13:30.54\00:13:32.34 to think again as we saw the Holy Spirit is the one 00:13:32.37\00:13:35.18 that convinces the world of sin, 00:13:35.21\00:13:36.68 righteousness, and judgment, 00:13:36.71\00:13:38.15 the conscience is going to start burning 00:13:38.18\00:13:40.58 and letting you know, "You know what, 00:13:40.62\00:13:42.05 maybe you shouldn't do this." 00:13:42.08\00:13:43.45 So the problem is when we either don't think, 00:13:43.49\00:13:46.76 we don't take the time to think and just react, 00:13:46.79\00:13:49.69 or we're impaired, we're intoxicated, 00:13:49.72\00:13:52.83 and the brain is inebriated 00:13:52.86\00:13:55.06 so it can't even hear that searing conscious saying, 00:13:55.10\00:13:58.30 you know, "Don't do this." 00:13:58.33\00:13:59.73 So the culture, you know, talks about it 00:13:59.77\00:14:03.61 but doesn't really provide 00:14:03.64\00:14:06.27 practical instruction on how to avoid... 00:14:06.31\00:14:08.91 That's right. And how to avoid. 00:14:08.94\00:14:10.28 And you have to teach how to avoid 00:14:10.31\00:14:12.41 or else you're just going to get reaction 00:14:12.45\00:14:14.12 or impaired judgment 00:14:14.15\00:14:15.48 and you're going to have a bad result. 00:14:15.52\00:14:16.85 You know I have to tell you, man, 00:14:16.89\00:14:18.22 I've really been convicted that we should really 00:14:18.25\00:14:22.26 sooner or later dedicate a TKS program 00:14:22.29\00:14:26.29 on how to study the Bible. 00:14:26.33\00:14:29.83 Yes. And there's a reason for that. 00:14:29.86\00:14:32.43 A lot of times people don't know 00:14:32.47\00:14:34.10 how to read this book. 00:14:34.14\00:14:35.50 And when you read it, 00:14:35.54\00:14:37.11 you could have experiences like what I had. 00:14:37.14\00:14:38.61 I remember I read the book, Thee Thy, Thou, 00:14:38.64\00:14:40.58 and so and so, begat so and so, 00:14:40.61\00:14:41.94 so and so begat so and so, 00:14:41.98\00:14:43.31 and I was like, "You've got to be kidding me. 00:14:43.35\00:14:44.68 This is absolutely boring," you know, 00:14:44.71\00:14:46.05 and I just was not interested, or it makes you think too hard. 00:14:46.08\00:14:49.98 And when you live in a world where you function by feeling 00:14:50.02\00:14:52.99 more than thought then... 00:14:53.02\00:14:54.89 because one thing the Bible forces people to do is think. 00:14:54.92\00:14:57.49 Yeah. 00:14:57.53\00:14:58.86 When you read scripture, you have to think, 00:14:58.89\00:15:00.50 and this is what Isaiah 1:18, 00:15:00.53\00:15:02.26 God says, "Come now, let us reason together." 00:15:02.30\00:15:04.27 God says, "Think," 00:15:04.30\00:15:05.63 and people don't like to think sometimes, 00:15:05.67\00:15:07.37 we are mentally lazy as a society generally. 00:15:07.40\00:15:11.14 And as a result of that, 00:15:11.17\00:15:12.97 we're telling people go to the Bible, 00:15:13.01\00:15:15.84 you know, find out what's evil, 00:15:15.88\00:15:17.21 find out what's good, and etcetera, 00:15:17.25\00:15:18.98 but I do, I'm empathetic to the fact 00:15:19.01\00:15:21.75 that individuals may say, "I've tried, I can't find it. 00:15:21.78\00:15:24.82 I don't know how to... I don't know how to do it." 00:15:24.85\00:15:27.46 And it will be good if one day 00:15:27.49\00:15:29.12 we can dedicate something where we really say, 00:15:29.16\00:15:30.73 "Hey, you know what? 00:15:30.76\00:15:32.09 Let's walk people through. How do you study this book?" 00:15:32.13\00:15:33.80 Yeah. 00:15:33.83\00:15:35.16 I have gotten to a place in my life, 00:15:35.20\00:15:36.53 I can remember I did not know where Genesis was, 00:15:36.56\00:15:39.93 let alone Revelation in the Bible. 00:15:39.97\00:15:41.34 I just didn't know. 00:15:41.37\00:15:42.70 But then coming into the church 00:15:42.74\00:15:45.21 and really, really seeking God and putting forth effort. 00:15:45.24\00:15:48.51 Now, when I studied the Bible this book has become... 00:15:48.54\00:15:51.11 and it's not fully, fully clear, 00:15:51.15\00:15:52.71 I'd love to say I know it all inside and out 00:15:52.75\00:15:54.85 but I'm not there yet, but I'm on the path, 00:15:54.88\00:15:57.09 and I will say that I understand the Bible 00:15:57.12\00:15:59.72 far better than I've ever understood it 00:15:59.75\00:16:01.49 many, many years ago. 00:16:01.52\00:16:03.12 And now when I read scripture, 00:16:03.16\00:16:04.69 I know how to navigate through it. 00:16:04.73\00:16:06.09 I know how to, "Okay, 00:16:06.13\00:16:07.46 well, if I don't have an answer, 00:16:07.50\00:16:08.83 I know how to get the answer." 00:16:08.86\00:16:10.20 And this is when the Bible and Bible study 00:16:10.23\00:16:12.67 becomes part of fun... 00:16:12.70\00:16:15.44 It becomes part of enjoyment. Yes. Yeah. 00:16:15.47\00:16:17.71 Literally gathering some of your people together 00:16:17.74\00:16:20.51 and saying, "Listen, let's take a subject 00:16:20.54\00:16:23.38 and let's go ahead and go to the scriptures 00:16:23.41\00:16:25.65 and let's use the tools on how to study 00:16:25.68\00:16:27.58 and let's have ourselves a fantastic time 00:16:27.62\00:16:29.22 learning more about our Savior." 00:16:29.25\00:16:31.35 I mean, there is a time that I used to think that 00:16:31.39\00:16:32.89 studying the Bible was simply a duty, 00:16:32.92\00:16:34.82 but I've found that it's an enjoyment. 00:16:34.86\00:16:36.62 It is something that actually brings joy to my heart 00:16:36.66\00:16:38.89 when I get... 00:16:38.93\00:16:40.26 when I get on my knees and I open my Bible, 00:16:40.30\00:16:41.63 I'm ready to study. 00:16:41.66\00:16:43.00 I'm smiling already. 00:16:43.03\00:16:44.37 I'm already like, "Man, I'm digging in, 00:16:44.40\00:16:45.73 I'm about to eat." 00:16:45.77\00:16:47.10 "I'm gonna eat some spiritual food." 00:16:47.14\00:16:48.47 I want this for anybody. 00:16:48.50\00:16:49.84 You know what I'm saying? 00:16:49.87\00:16:51.21 It's like I want our viewers, we want our viewers 00:16:51.24\00:16:53.54 to know that enjoyment, 00:16:53.58\00:16:55.48 that "fun" 00:16:55.51\00:16:57.21 that can come just through searching scripture 00:16:57.25\00:17:00.05 and finding out what God says to us 00:17:00.08\00:17:02.98 as it relates to proper recreation 00:17:03.02\00:17:05.42 or what's improper recreation, 00:17:05.45\00:17:07.62 and all the other rights and wrongs of life 00:17:07.66\00:17:09.56 that we need guidance on. 00:17:09.59\00:17:10.93 We are a people in a generation that needs tremendous guidance. 00:17:10.96\00:17:13.36 And I think that brings us right to our next point. 00:17:13.40\00:17:15.60 Yes. 00:17:15.63\00:17:16.97 Our next principle that we're looking at in recreation, 00:17:17.00\00:17:18.87 I want to look at Matthew 6. 00:17:18.90\00:17:20.87 Okay. 00:17:20.90\00:17:22.24 So in Matthew 6, looking at verse 33. 00:17:22.27\00:17:25.21 Now, I want to paint the context a little bit 00:17:25.24\00:17:26.81 before we read the verse. 00:17:26.84\00:17:28.24 But you know there is a concern, 00:17:28.28\00:17:30.01 and this is a common excuse 00:17:30.05\00:17:31.61 out there in the world generally 00:17:31.65\00:17:33.65 but especially in hip-hop culture. 00:17:33.68\00:17:36.02 The excuse is well, I know this is wrong, 00:17:36.05\00:17:39.62 but I got to do it to feed my family. 00:17:39.65\00:17:42.26 I got to do it to make ends meet. 00:17:42.29\00:17:44.09 I got to do it because I got to do 00:17:44.13\00:17:45.59 what I've got to do, right? 00:17:45.63\00:17:46.96 That's our common like, I know it's wrong. 00:17:47.00\00:17:50.20 You don't have to tell me. 00:17:50.23\00:17:52.00 I know, I'm messing things up. 00:17:52.03\00:17:53.37 I know, I'm messing other people's lives up. 00:17:53.40\00:17:54.74 I know, I'm doing a lot of dirt, 00:17:54.77\00:17:56.10 and it's very high risk 00:17:56.14\00:17:57.87 but the reward is such that I need to do it, 00:17:57.91\00:17:59.77 I got to do, I got to do, I have no better option. 00:17:59.81\00:18:02.58 And sometimes you can trick yourself into believing that. 00:18:02.61\00:18:06.35 You know, if I want to, you know, 00:18:06.38\00:18:08.48 I'm growing up in the street, in a, you know, 00:18:08.52\00:18:11.59 inner city or in a, you know, 00:18:11.62\00:18:13.12 downtrodden neighborhood with limited options, 00:18:13.15\00:18:15.76 maybe a bad school system, 00:18:15.79\00:18:17.59 maybe little or no parenting, little or no money, 00:18:17.63\00:18:21.63 then what do you start to do? 00:18:21.66\00:18:23.06 You start to try to find ways and look for ways that you can, 00:18:23.10\00:18:25.97 I don't know do something with yourself. 00:18:26.00\00:18:28.50 And so how do you, you know, 00:18:28.54\00:18:30.11 most people look at money and they say, 00:18:30.14\00:18:31.91 well, in order to do something with yourself, 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.74 you need to get money, 00:18:33.78\00:18:35.11 in order to get money you need to... 00:18:35.14\00:18:36.48 you need education or you need, you know, 00:18:36.51\00:18:38.71 so you start to weigh out all your options 00:18:38.75\00:18:40.98 and you're a little kid, you know, 00:18:41.02\00:18:42.98 a young kid, adolescent, a teenager, 00:18:43.02\00:18:45.42 trying to work through all these problems, 00:18:45.45\00:18:47.16 and so what do you do? 00:18:47.19\00:18:48.52 You don't, you go, you rarely go beyond 00:18:48.56\00:18:50.69 what you see in your community. 00:18:50.73\00:18:52.49 You rarely do that. 00:18:52.53\00:18:53.96 So you look at the street corner 00:18:54.00\00:18:55.90 or you look at this and you say, 00:18:55.93\00:18:57.27 "Man, look, there's a guy from my neighborhood 00:18:57.30\00:18:59.63 and he has money, he has success, 00:18:59.67\00:19:01.80 he has reputation, he has recognition, 00:19:01.84\00:19:04.57 he has the things that I want, 00:19:04.61\00:19:05.97 that I see," you know. 00:19:06.01\00:19:07.58 "What does he do?" 00:19:07.61\00:19:09.21 "Oh, he deals drugs. 00:19:09.24\00:19:10.68 Oh, he, you know, does this, does this illegal practice." 00:19:10.71\00:19:13.42 All right. 00:19:13.45\00:19:14.82 Well, then in order to meet my goal 00:19:14.85\00:19:16.75 that's what I should do. 00:19:16.79\00:19:18.12 Right. 00:19:18.15\00:19:19.49 Because education is not an option, 00:19:19.52\00:19:21.36 this is not an option, or you see something else. 00:19:21.39\00:19:23.26 "Oh, I want to be like this athlete." 00:19:23.29\00:19:25.09 So what do you do? Well, I got to play basketball. 00:19:25.13\00:19:27.10 I got to do this, so I'm going to focus 00:19:27.13\00:19:28.56 all my energy into playing basketball 00:19:28.60\00:19:30.10 because I might be that one in, you know, 00:19:30.13\00:19:32.83 80, you know, 800 or whatever it is, 00:19:32.87\00:19:35.00 whatever the ratio is that are going to make it 00:19:35.04\00:19:36.77 to a professional level where I can actually get paid 00:19:36.81\00:19:39.54 to do this for the rest of my life. 00:19:39.57\00:19:41.54 And so you've got limited options. 00:19:41.58\00:19:43.28 I don't... 00:19:43.31\00:19:44.65 I wouldn't necessarily sit here and argue that 00:19:44.68\00:19:46.01 your options are limited. 00:19:46.05\00:19:47.38 The problem is you don't have to do those things... 00:19:47.42\00:19:50.29 That's right. 00:19:50.32\00:19:51.65 However, there is a basic need and God recognizes it. 00:19:51.69\00:19:55.69 We do need food, we do need housing, 00:19:55.72\00:19:58.89 we do need clothing, 00:19:58.93\00:20:00.26 we do need in many cases transportation... 00:20:00.30\00:20:02.23 There are things that we need and God knows that. 00:20:02.26\00:20:03.77 Absolutely. 00:20:03.80\00:20:05.13 And God is willing to provide that 00:20:05.17\00:20:06.50 and He will provide that. 00:20:06.53\00:20:08.10 And the illustration that Jesus uses in Matthew 6 is, 00:20:08.14\00:20:13.17 you know, in this entire 00:20:13.21\00:20:15.44 what we call the Sermon on the Mount, 00:20:15.48\00:20:17.31 as He says, "Hey listen, look at the birds. 00:20:17.35\00:20:20.82 They go and they come, they eat, they have housing. 00:20:20.85\00:20:24.29 They have all these things. 00:20:24.32\00:20:25.82 How did they get that? 00:20:25.85\00:20:27.62 Well, God provides. 00:20:27.66\00:20:29.12 Look at the lily, the flowers. 00:20:29.16\00:20:30.49 How do they, they don't do anything, 00:20:30.53\00:20:32.59 they don't work for what they have, 00:20:32.63\00:20:34.43 they just exist 00:20:34.46\00:20:36.26 and their beauty surpasses 00:20:36.30\00:20:37.80 the beauty of the greatest king that we've ever had." 00:20:37.83\00:20:41.00 That's right. And so God provides. 00:20:41.04\00:20:43.04 But then He doesn't leave them there. 00:20:43.07\00:20:44.77 He tells the audience, "This is how God provides." 00:20:44.81\00:20:47.11 And this is where we're going to pick up in Matthew 6:33. 00:20:47.14\00:20:50.95 It says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, 00:20:50.98\00:20:53.65 and His righteousness, 00:20:53.68\00:20:55.72 and all these things shall be added unto you." 00:20:55.75\00:20:58.95 All the things that we need will be given to us. 00:20:58.99\00:21:02.19 Maybe not the way that we want. 00:21:02.22\00:21:03.93 Maybe not the amount that we want. 00:21:03.96\00:21:06.70 But we will be taken care of in our basic necessities, 00:21:06.73\00:21:10.37 our basic essentials, by seeking God first 00:21:10.40\00:21:13.80 and His righteousness, 00:21:13.84\00:21:15.17 putting God and His righteousness first, 00:21:15.20\00:21:17.24 we'll ensure that we have God's protection. 00:21:17.27\00:21:20.81 Now, again, you know, people can argue, 00:21:20.84\00:21:23.41 and that's a whole another topic 00:21:23.45\00:21:24.78 for another episode 00:21:24.81\00:21:26.45 as why do bad things happen to good people? 00:21:26.48\00:21:29.92 Why do good things happen to bad people? 00:21:29.95\00:21:31.65 You know, what did this little child do 00:21:31.69\00:21:33.66 to get this kind of, you know, treatment? 00:21:33.69\00:21:36.06 And those are valid questions 00:21:36.09\00:21:37.79 and we will address them in later episodes, 00:21:37.83\00:21:40.50 but the bottom line is your basic essential is 00:21:40.53\00:21:42.50 by putting God first, He will grant it. 00:21:42.53\00:21:44.77 We just have to stress the fact that it is often not in the way 00:21:44.80\00:21:47.04 that we like or we might want 00:21:47.07\00:21:49.57 or in the way that we see society 00:21:49.60\00:21:51.91 or media portraying how, 00:21:51.94\00:21:53.58 what we should get and how we should have. 00:21:53.61\00:21:55.24 But God will provide if we put Him first. 00:21:55.28\00:21:58.05 Now, so when we do that, 00:21:58.08\00:21:59.95 when we're talking about recreation, 00:21:59.98\00:22:01.88 we have to ask the question, is what I'm going to do, 00:22:01.92\00:22:06.82 or you know, the thing that I do, 00:22:06.86\00:22:08.66 the recreation I'm engaging in, 00:22:08.69\00:22:11.03 is it compatible with this principle 00:22:11.06\00:22:12.66 of seeking God first and His righteousness? 00:22:12.69\00:22:16.00 If it's not compatible with that, 00:22:16.03\00:22:18.43 it's going to be a problem 00:22:18.47\00:22:19.80 and I'm not going to get the reciprocal, 00:22:19.83\00:22:22.27 you know, blessing. 00:22:22.30\00:22:23.64 Well then that means that we have to look 00:22:23.67\00:22:25.37 a little bit closer at the term recreation. 00:22:25.41\00:22:27.64 Yes. 00:22:27.68\00:22:29.01 That means that recreation is really based on activities 00:22:29.04\00:22:33.95 and things that are being done 00:22:33.98\00:22:35.68 that help recreate the image of God in man 00:22:35.72\00:22:39.89 because that's the great goal of God. 00:22:39.92\00:22:41.26 He wants to recreate His image in us. 00:22:41.29\00:22:42.82 That's the whole plan of salvation in a nutshell. 00:22:42.86\00:22:44.99 So because of that whatever I'm doing, 00:22:45.03\00:22:47.43 how will this help recreate the image of God in me. 00:22:47.46\00:22:50.20 How will this help me come closer to the Lord 00:22:50.23\00:22:53.00 rather than come home and repent and say, 00:22:53.03\00:22:55.04 "Oh man, I messed up again. 00:22:55.07\00:22:56.50 I shouldn't have done that." Yeah. 00:22:56.54\00:22:57.97 And that's a very powerful point. 00:22:58.01\00:23:00.08 And maybe this will help because I think Matthew 6:33 00:23:00.11\00:23:03.38 using that as a tool, and I would connect to it, 00:23:03.41\00:23:06.41 and for our viewers, make sure you take note of this 00:23:06.45\00:23:08.28 but I would connect to it Ecclesiastes 12:13 and 14, 00:23:08.32\00:23:12.59 "Fear God and keep His commandments, 00:23:12.62\00:23:14.12 this is the whole duty of man," you know. 00:23:14.16\00:23:15.96 It goes in connection 00:23:15.99\00:23:17.66 with seeking first the kingdom of God 00:23:17.69\00:23:19.13 and being about our Father's business. 00:23:19.16\00:23:21.86 Galatians 5 is another principle 00:23:21.90\00:23:24.53 that I think will help. 00:23:24.57\00:23:26.07 It really kind of spells out, 00:23:26.10\00:23:27.97 now really it's going to hone in 00:23:28.00\00:23:29.40 on this idea of what we talked about earlier about 00:23:29.44\00:23:31.91 proving things and avoiding evil and doing good. 00:23:31.94\00:23:35.14 In Galatians 5:19-21. 00:23:35.18\00:23:38.55 It says, "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, 00:23:38.58\00:23:42.32 which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, 00:23:42.35\00:23:47.09 lasciviousness, idolatry, 00:23:47.12\00:23:49.86 witchcraft, hatred, variance, 00:23:49.89\00:23:52.89 emulations, wrath, strife, 00:23:52.93\00:23:55.86 seditions, heresies, envyings, 00:23:55.90\00:23:59.30 murders, drunkenness, revellings, 00:23:59.33\00:24:02.34 and such like of the which I tell you before, 00:24:02.37\00:24:04.94 as I have also told you in time past 00:24:04.97\00:24:07.38 that they which do such things 00:24:07.41\00:24:09.28 shall not inherit the kingdom of God." 00:24:09.31\00:24:11.95 The Bible makes it clear that obviously 00:24:11.98\00:24:13.88 this is not safely having fun 00:24:13.92\00:24:15.58 because it has a horrific ramification 00:24:15.62\00:24:17.62 which is they will not inherit the kingdom of God. 00:24:17.65\00:24:20.39 Now the Bible spells out several things here 00:24:20.42\00:24:22.49 that I would have to take into consideration 00:24:22.52\00:24:24.46 if my friends say let's get together for fun. 00:24:24.49\00:24:26.96 I'm going to ask is there adultery or fornication 00:24:27.00\00:24:29.53 that's going to take place with a condom or not, 00:24:29.56\00:24:31.63 that doesn't matter, 00:24:31.67\00:24:33.00 if there's anything that's taking place 00:24:33.03\00:24:34.37 of this nature, the Bible condemns it. 00:24:34.40\00:24:36.47 It does not fit under the context 00:24:36.50\00:24:38.34 of safely having fun. 00:24:38.37\00:24:40.61 It also talks about, you know, 00:24:40.64\00:24:43.31 variance, emulations and strife. 00:24:43.35\00:24:46.31 The word strife in the Greek means rivalry. 00:24:46.35\00:24:49.05 It also... 00:24:49.08\00:24:50.42 When you look at emulation, to emulate means 00:24:50.45\00:24:52.15 to try to be equal to or better than somebody else. 00:24:52.19\00:24:54.99 Well, this principle fits very much in the context 00:24:55.02\00:24:57.46 of what happens often in hip-hop culture 00:24:57.49\00:24:59.29 with the battling, 00:24:59.33\00:25:00.66 where individuals are trying to battle 00:25:00.70\00:25:02.03 and the goal is to produce myself 00:25:02.06\00:25:04.60 as the winner and make you the loser. 00:25:04.63\00:25:08.24 And when there are environments like this in hip-hop culture 00:25:08.27\00:25:11.27 as well as outside of hip-hop culture, 00:25:11.31\00:25:13.34 when there are environments 00:25:13.38\00:25:14.71 where there are people coming together 00:25:14.74\00:25:16.08 in the name of fun but the goal is, 00:25:16.11\00:25:17.85 I'm trying to beat you and declare you the loser 00:25:17.88\00:25:20.18 and you'd be declared the winner 00:25:20.22\00:25:21.85 that I can exalt myself, 00:25:21.88\00:25:23.42 this is a principle that the Bible condemns and says, 00:25:23.45\00:25:26.22 "God does not want this to be done amongst His people." 00:25:26.25\00:25:29.09 There are several things that we can literally go 00:25:29.12\00:25:31.49 point by point in these verses 00:25:31.53\00:25:34.43 and it can now be kind of a warning to us 00:25:34.46\00:25:37.57 about what we can do and what we should not do 00:25:37.60\00:25:40.90 as it relates to recreation. 00:25:40.94\00:25:43.24 So these are some very powerful points 00:25:43.27\00:25:44.71 that an individual can consider, 00:25:44.74\00:25:46.07 and I know we got a lot more 00:25:46.11\00:25:47.94 and one way or the other 00:25:47.98\00:25:49.61 I'm sure we're going to get it to cover 00:25:49.64\00:25:51.05 in other episodes as well, 00:25:51.08\00:25:52.61 but I know we're reaching towards the close of our time 00:25:52.65\00:25:54.72 but, you know, the Lord is blessed. 00:25:54.75\00:25:56.45 That's right. 00:25:56.48\00:25:57.82 Now when we consider the theme of recreation of 00:25:57.85\00:26:02.22 "safely having fun", 00:26:02.26\00:26:03.79 we have to understand that once again 00:26:03.83\00:26:06.66 the Bible does not leave us 00:26:06.70\00:26:08.66 in groping in darkness to try to figure out 00:26:08.70\00:26:11.33 how we are to apply, what are we to do, 00:26:11.37\00:26:13.67 or how are we to respond to good principles, 00:26:13.70\00:26:17.31 good advice but how do you practice it? 00:26:17.34\00:26:19.81 And the Bible deals with these things 00:26:19.84\00:26:21.71 in some of the most practical and explicit language. 00:26:21.74\00:26:25.01 We don't need to be necessarily 00:26:25.05\00:26:27.72 given the instruction in every case 00:26:27.75\00:26:29.38 in exact detail in every situation... 00:26:29.42\00:26:31.22 We just need principles. 00:26:31.25\00:26:32.69 These principles then can be applied 00:26:32.72\00:26:35.29 to any life situation, 00:26:35.32\00:26:37.73 in any life circumstance. 00:26:37.76\00:26:40.30 I'm encouraged, I know we're encouraged. 00:26:40.33\00:26:42.06 I hope you're encouraged by some of these things 00:26:42.10\00:26:44.13 when we talk about those 00:26:44.17\00:26:46.84 cornerstones of hip-hop culture, 00:26:46.87\00:26:49.27 you know, peace, love, unity and safely having fun. 00:26:49.30\00:26:51.97 I hope now you see clearly 00:26:52.01\00:26:54.08 that although those things in and of themselves are good, 00:26:54.11\00:26:57.81 the definition is what is important 00:26:57.85\00:27:00.05 and you can't just say, 00:27:00.08\00:27:02.05 but then all of your actions and all of the practice 00:27:02.08\00:27:04.82 is contrary to the very cornerstone. 00:27:04.85\00:27:07.96 But we see in the Bible 00:27:07.99\00:27:09.56 that it not only says peace, love, unity 00:27:09.59\00:27:14.60 and this idea of recreation and enjoyment, 00:27:14.63\00:27:17.63 but it actually gives you practical instruction 00:27:17.67\00:27:19.73 on how to apply them. 00:27:19.77\00:27:21.10 Practical guidelines that are not just based on 00:27:21.14\00:27:23.71 where you live or what you prefer, 00:27:23.74\00:27:26.31 it's based on the things 00:27:26.34\00:27:28.04 that God has established and not man. 00:27:28.08\00:27:30.55 Remember God is the one that dictates reality 00:27:30.58\00:27:33.75 and we are simply as being His children if you will, 00:27:33.78\00:27:38.05 being His purchased possession, 00:27:38.09\00:27:41.32 we are not at liberty to exercise 00:27:41.36\00:27:43.09 our own opinion on everything. 00:27:43.12\00:27:44.66 We are simply following the instructions of God, 00:27:44.69\00:27:49.06 and we have to be okay with that 00:27:49.10\00:27:50.47 and comfortable with our Creator governing us. 00:27:50.50\00:27:53.44 It's a blessing. Amen. 00:27:53.47\00:27:54.94 So I want to encourage you to come again and join us 00:27:54.97\00:27:57.07 for another episode as we continue our journey 00:27:57.11\00:27:59.64 through these very important topics. 00:27:59.67\00:28:01.31 And remember in Proverbs 2:6, it says, 00:28:01.34\00:28:03.68 "It is the Lord that gives wisdom 00:28:03.71\00:28:05.95 and out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding." 00:28:05.98\00:28:08.98 God bless. 00:28:09.02\00:28:10.35
