Hello, I'm Dwayne. 00:00:28.72\00:00:30.33 And I'm Lance and we like to welcome you 00:00:30.36\00:00:31.73 to another episode of TKS, a True Knowledge of Self 00:00:31.76\00:00:35.00 where we get to know ourselves from a biblical perspective. 00:00:35.03\00:00:38.27 Now we're gonna continue dealing with this 00:00:38.30\00:00:40.17 very important topic of safely having fun 00:00:40.20\00:00:43.81 or biblical recreation. 00:00:43.84\00:00:45.74 It was a principle that was outlined 00:00:45.77\00:00:47.11 as one of the cornerstones of hip-hop culture 00:00:47.14\00:00:49.44 but we're gonna look at some practical guidelines 00:00:49.48\00:00:51.85 that help us to really see 00:00:51.88\00:00:53.88 what God has established principle wise for us to, 00:00:53.92\00:00:58.89 you know, go by when we consider 00:00:58.92\00:01:01.22 how we are to conduct ourselves, 00:01:01.26\00:01:02.59 how we are to have fun, 00:01:02.62\00:01:03.96 how we are to engage in enjoyment and recreation. 00:01:03.99\00:01:06.73 Now we only were able to go through an initial principle 00:01:06.76\00:01:09.33 and we're just continue going through, 00:01:09.36\00:01:10.80 so Dwayne, let's go right into it. 00:01:10.83\00:01:13.64 I mean, what's another principle? 00:01:13.67\00:01:15.14 We talked about the first principle being, 00:01:15.17\00:01:17.31 make sure that whatever you're going to engage 00:01:17.34\00:01:19.77 in this form of recreation 00:01:19.81\00:01:21.14 does not violate your conscience. 00:01:21.18\00:01:22.51 Yes. 00:01:22.54\00:01:23.88 And we saw that your conscience is primarily informed 00:01:23.91\00:01:25.25 by the Word of God. 00:01:25.28\00:01:26.61 That's right. 00:01:26.65\00:01:27.98 But even if you have no knowledge 00:01:28.02\00:01:29.35 of the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, 00:01:29.38\00:01:30.72 God can still inform your conscience 00:01:30.75\00:01:32.95 to say this is wrong or this is not wrong. 00:01:32.99\00:01:34.89 That's right. We shared some stories. 00:01:34.92\00:01:36.26 But I want to go on 00:01:36.29\00:01:37.63 'cause we got a lot of principles 00:01:37.66\00:01:38.99 we need to cover. 00:01:39.03\00:01:40.36 But they are very practical 00:01:40.40\00:01:41.73 and they can be very fruitful if we apply them. 00:01:41.76\00:01:43.13 So what's another principle? Yeah, and I like practical. 00:01:43.16\00:01:45.87 So we're gonna go ahead 00:01:45.90\00:01:47.40 and take a look at another text of scripture 00:01:47.44\00:01:49.44 where we're gonna look at 1 Corinthians 8. 00:01:49.47\00:01:51.17 All right. 00:01:51.21\00:01:52.54 And I like this because we're looking at 00:01:52.57\00:01:54.84 how to take gospel principles and make it practical. 00:01:54.88\00:01:57.45 I believe that this is an area 00:01:57.48\00:01:59.21 where the church can do a lot better, 00:01:59.25\00:02:01.35 where we can really start saying young people 00:02:01.38\00:02:03.62 as well as older individuals, 00:02:03.65\00:02:05.69 it's not enough that we just simply tell you 00:02:05.72\00:02:07.92 what to do and what not to do 00:02:07.96\00:02:09.29 but point you to the power source 00:02:09.32\00:02:10.66 and give you practical examples from scripture on 00:02:10.69\00:02:13.29 how to get these things done. 00:02:13.33\00:02:15.00 So in 1 Corinthians 8, 00:02:15.03\00:02:16.46 we see another principle that can guide us 00:02:16.50\00:02:18.37 when we're seeking to have enjoyment. 00:02:18.40\00:02:20.20 I have to tell you that I'm thankful 00:02:20.24\00:02:22.07 that we serve a God, we serve a creator 00:02:22.10\00:02:24.54 that is interested in our enjoyment. 00:02:24.57\00:02:25.94 Yes. 00:02:25.97\00:02:27.31 I think, just that alone is a beautiful thing 00:02:27.34\00:02:29.38 because sometimes Christianity can be presented as something 00:02:29.41\00:02:33.18 where God just doesn't want people 00:02:33.21\00:02:34.65 to enjoy themselves and life has to be fairly bitter. 00:02:34.68\00:02:37.35 But that is not the God of heaven and earth. 00:02:37.39\00:02:39.45 And the Word of God tells us a principle in 1 Corinthians 8. 00:02:39.49\00:02:43.53 What happened, just as a background 00:02:43.56\00:02:44.89 'cause we're not gonna go through 00:02:44.93\00:02:46.26 all the verses is there were new believing gentiles 00:02:46.29\00:02:49.13 that were coming into Christianity. 00:02:49.16\00:02:52.23 And there were also Jewish brothers and sisters 00:02:52.27\00:02:55.00 who already converted from Judaism to Christianity. 00:02:55.04\00:02:57.31 And gentiles is a non-Jew. Yeah. 00:02:57.34\00:02:59.17 And a gentile is simply a non-Jew. 00:02:59.21\00:03:00.54 Yeah. 00:03:00.58\00:03:01.91 And when the Jewish brethren were coming in to Christianity, 00:03:01.94\00:03:06.21 they started to impose a lot of things 00:03:06.25\00:03:08.65 upon the new believing gentiles. 00:03:08.68\00:03:11.35 They would take some of the principles 00:03:11.39\00:03:12.82 of the laws of Moses 00:03:12.85\00:03:14.19 and still say, "You have to be circumcised, 00:03:14.22\00:03:15.56 you have to do this, you have to do that." 00:03:15.59\00:03:17.16 And the Bible says a lot on it. 00:03:17.19\00:03:18.86 But in 1 Corinthians 8, 00:03:18.89\00:03:20.23 it talks specifically about a practice 00:03:20.26\00:03:22.23 that the gentiles used to do before they were converted 00:03:22.26\00:03:25.33 and then as practice 00:03:25.37\00:03:26.70 they were doing after conversion 00:03:26.74\00:03:28.27 and Paul was giving counsel on how his Jewish brothers 00:03:28.30\00:03:31.07 who had a higher knowledge should know 00:03:31.11\00:03:33.04 how to respond to them. 00:03:33.07\00:03:34.41 It was on the point of eating food 00:03:34.44\00:03:35.78 that was offered to idols. 00:03:35.81\00:03:37.15 Gentiles, when they were worshipping devils 00:03:37.18\00:03:40.05 basically, they would go ahead and offer food to idols 00:03:40.08\00:03:43.12 and this was a way of appeasing and doing other things, 00:03:43.15\00:03:45.65 but when they came over into Christianity, 00:03:45.69\00:03:48.26 many of them as a result of always connecting these meats 00:03:48.29\00:03:52.03 being offered to idols and whatnot, 00:03:52.06\00:03:53.90 they would start to pull away from that all together 00:03:53.93\00:03:56.03 and just started eating herbs. 00:03:56.06\00:03:57.73 It was because their consciences 00:03:57.77\00:03:59.80 was very, very, weak at that time, 00:03:59.83\00:04:01.37 very, very infantile, very, very, you know, developmental. 00:04:01.40\00:04:05.51 So they were just 00:04:05.54\00:04:06.88 in the developmental stage of Christianity. 00:04:06.91\00:04:10.05 However, the Apostle Paul was speaking to his brothers 00:04:10.08\00:04:12.78 and saying, "Listen, guys, we know that 00:04:12.81\00:04:14.85 an idol is just a piece of wood, metal, 00:04:14.88\00:04:16.92 or whatever else, and if we saw food 00:04:16.95\00:04:19.05 that God's Word permits us to eat, 00:04:19.09\00:04:20.92 even though it might have been offered to an idol, 00:04:20.96\00:04:22.62 we know an idol is nothing so we can eat it." 00:04:22.66\00:04:24.73 But he make a point now 00:04:24.76\00:04:26.36 that we're gonna pick up in 1 Corinthians 8 00:04:26.39\00:04:28.36 and we're gonna look at verse 7 00:04:28.40\00:04:29.73 and see what his council goes on 00:04:29.76\00:04:31.40 to say as Paul is dealing with interaction with brothers. 00:04:31.43\00:04:35.90 All recreation is interaction with family, right? 00:04:35.94\00:04:38.94 You know, we call each other brothers and family, bro 00:04:38.97\00:04:40.98 and, you know, whatever. 00:04:41.01\00:04:42.34 We're using this family type language. 00:04:42.38\00:04:44.55 So Paul is giving us a counsel here 00:04:44.58\00:04:46.35 that we can apply in recreation. 00:04:46.38\00:04:49.12 It says in 1 Corinthians 8:7. 00:04:49.15\00:04:51.65 "Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge." 00:04:51.69\00:04:55.29 In other words, this knowledge that, 00:04:55.32\00:04:56.66 you know, these idols are nothing 00:04:56.69\00:04:58.33 and we can eat the food that's been, 00:04:58.36\00:04:59.83 'cause the idol's nothing anyhow, 00:04:59.86\00:05:01.20 if we need to eat, we can eat. 00:05:01.23\00:05:02.90 He says, "Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: 00:05:02.93\00:05:05.63 For some with conscience of the idol 00:05:05.67\00:05:08.37 unto this hour eat it as a thing offered 00:05:08.40\00:05:11.87 unto an idol. 00:05:11.91\00:05:13.24 And their conscience being weak is defiled. 00:05:13.27\00:05:15.91 But meat commendeth us not to God, for neither, 00:05:15.94\00:05:18.98 if we eat, are we the better, 00:05:19.01\00:05:21.18 neither, if we eat not, are we the worse." 00:05:21.22\00:05:23.59 And then he says the key point, 00:05:23.62\00:05:25.72 "But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours." 00:05:25.75\00:05:31.43 In other words he's saying, you have a right to do it, 00:05:31.46\00:05:34.33 but just because you have a right to do something 00:05:34.36\00:05:37.23 does not mean that you should exercise 00:05:37.27\00:05:38.83 that right under every circumstance. 00:05:38.87\00:05:40.20 Right. 00:05:40.24\00:05:41.57 So He says, "But take heed..." 00:05:41.60\00:05:42.94 Be careful, "Lest by any means this liberty of yours 00:05:42.97\00:05:46.71 become a stumbling block to them that are weak. 00:05:46.74\00:05:52.21 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge 00:05:52.25\00:05:55.25 sit at meat in the idol's temple, 00:05:55.28\00:05:57.45 shall not the conscience of him 00:05:57.49\00:05:59.02 which is weak be emboldened to eat those things 00:05:59.05\00:06:02.16 which are offered to idols. 00:06:02.19\00:06:03.53 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, 00:06:03.56\00:06:06.83 for whom Christ died? 00:06:06.86\00:06:08.76 But when ye sin so against the brethren, 00:06:08.80\00:06:11.67 and wound their weak conscience, 00:06:11.70\00:06:13.13 ye sin against Christ. 00:06:13.17\00:06:15.37 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, 00:06:15.40\00:06:17.84 I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, 00:06:17.87\00:06:20.58 lest I make my brother to offend." 00:06:20.61\00:06:23.71 So here's a principle 00:06:23.75\00:06:25.08 that we can carry over into our recreations. 00:06:25.11\00:06:27.02 If I'm looking to participate in a recreational activity, 00:06:27.05\00:06:31.19 I must ask myself before getting engaged in it, 00:06:31.22\00:06:33.69 how will this affect my brothers? 00:06:33.72\00:06:35.06 Yeah. 00:06:35.09\00:06:36.42 What example am I leading for those 00:06:36.46\00:06:38.19 who are looking at me and those who are following me? 00:06:38.23\00:06:40.70 Do you understand it, if we thought more like this 00:06:40.73\00:06:43.40 as it relates to what activities we participate in, 00:06:43.43\00:06:46.20 there would be a serious process of elimination. 00:06:46.23\00:06:48.80 There would be a lot of things that would start going away 00:06:48.84\00:06:50.91 because we would start having a higher level of thinking 00:06:50.94\00:06:53.64 that is not just about me, 00:06:53.68\00:06:55.21 it's not just about what I want, 00:06:55.24\00:06:56.68 I have to consider how will this affect those 00:06:56.71\00:06:59.45 that I am called to be an example to. 00:06:59.48\00:07:01.98 So this is another principle that we get now from scripture 00:07:02.02\00:07:04.95 of how we can safely have fun, or enjoyment, 00:07:04.99\00:07:09.39 or better termed true biblical recreation. 00:07:09.42\00:07:12.59 So you're not only thinking about 00:07:12.63\00:07:13.96 how is this gonna affect me, 00:07:14.00\00:07:15.33 but how is this gonna affect anybody 00:07:15.36\00:07:16.70 who might happen to witness me doing this. 00:07:16.73\00:07:18.10 That's correct. 00:07:18.13\00:07:19.47 Especially, if I'm considering those 00:07:19.50\00:07:21.34 who I know, I mean, this verse is very deep 00:07:21.37\00:07:24.31 because it's a call to humility. 00:07:24.34\00:07:26.74 If I know you are weak 00:07:26.78\00:07:29.24 and I know I have a right to do this thing 00:07:29.28\00:07:32.11 that I want to do but because you are with me, 00:07:32.15\00:07:35.05 I have to understand, I can't look at you and say, 00:07:35.08\00:07:37.75 this week brother, "Look, man, you just have to deal with it, 00:07:37.79\00:07:40.36 I'm gonna to do what I want do." 00:07:40.39\00:07:41.72 That is actually countering what God's counsel says. 00:07:41.76\00:07:44.23 If that brother or sister is with you 00:07:44.26\00:07:46.90 even though they may be weak on a certain point, 00:07:46.93\00:07:49.20 we literally have to say, "You know, what? 00:07:49.23\00:07:50.97 We're not gonna do this recreation." 00:07:51.00\00:07:52.33 Even though it's okay to do, 00:07:52.37\00:07:53.70 but because it's gonna offend this individual here, 00:07:53.74\00:07:56.67 I'm gonna surrender my right. 00:07:56.71\00:07:58.77 Yeah. 00:07:58.81\00:08:00.14 Because I don't... 00:08:00.18\00:08:01.51 It's kind of like praying the prayer 00:08:01.54\00:08:02.88 and lead me not into temptation 00:08:02.91\00:08:04.25 but you're gonna lead others into temptation. 00:08:04.28\00:08:05.61 Right. 00:08:05.65\00:08:06.98 You don't want to pray, you pray to God, 00:08:07.02\00:08:08.35 "Lord, lead me not into temptation." 00:08:08.38\00:08:09.72 So don't be an instrument to lead others into temptation. 00:08:09.75\00:08:12.09 So whatever recreational activity 00:08:12.12\00:08:14.26 you're getting ready to do, 00:08:14.29\00:08:15.62 consider the group that you're with 00:08:15.66\00:08:17.09 and if you know you got some brethren in that group 00:08:17.13\00:08:18.99 that may be a little weak or not as developed as you are, 00:08:19.03\00:08:22.26 you have to consider that 00:08:22.30\00:08:23.67 when you have whatever recreational activity 00:08:23.70\00:08:25.40 you're gonna do. 00:08:25.43\00:08:26.77 So that way everyone can leave without their consciences, 00:08:26.80\00:08:31.11 without avoiding their consciences, 00:08:31.14\00:08:32.81 and violating, and making themselves feel like 00:08:32.84\00:08:35.24 they have sinned against God or even their fellowman. 00:08:35.28\00:08:37.08 All right. 00:08:37.11\00:08:38.45 So this is a very important principle 00:08:38.48\00:08:39.81 that we can also take from scripture. 00:08:39.85\00:08:41.18 Absolutely. Yeah. 00:08:41.22\00:08:42.55 And you know, we can move on to another principle 00:08:42.58\00:08:45.35 because there are several that we have to cover. 00:08:45.39\00:08:47.52 And one very important principle is found 00:08:47.56\00:08:49.82 in 1 Corinthians 6. Oh, yes. 00:08:49.86\00:08:52.09 So thus far we understand that 00:08:52.13\00:08:54.30 we are not to violate our conscience by anything 00:08:54.33\00:08:57.40 that we engage in for fun or recreation 00:08:57.43\00:09:00.94 and we are not only to consider the impact on us, 00:09:00.97\00:09:04.94 but the impact on anybody who is around us 00:09:04.97\00:09:07.04 or might witness what we're doing. 00:09:07.08\00:09:08.41 That's right. 00:09:08.44\00:09:09.78 So the next one here in 1 Corinthians 6, 00:09:09.81\00:09:11.48 if we could just read it, 00:09:11.51\00:09:12.85 1 Corinthians 6:19 and 20, it says, "What? 00:09:12.88\00:09:19.49 Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost 00:09:19.52\00:09:22.72 which is in you, which ye have of God, 00:09:22.76\00:09:25.03 and ye are not your own? 00:09:25.06\00:09:26.80 For ye were bought with a price. 00:09:26.83\00:09:29.56 Therefore..." 00:09:29.60\00:09:30.93 Or in conclusion, "Glorify God in your body, 00:09:30.97\00:09:34.44 and in your spirit, which are God's." 00:09:34.47\00:09:37.14 Now this goes back to the same kind of thing, 00:09:37.17\00:09:38.57 we're in the Book of 1 Corinthians still 00:09:38.61\00:09:40.94 and there was a constant issue with those 00:09:40.98\00:09:44.51 that were coming in to accept the gospel, 00:09:44.55\00:09:46.88 coming into the church if you will 00:09:46.92\00:09:48.78 who were from pagan, you know, gentile backgrounds. 00:09:48.82\00:09:53.25 They didn't have a Jewish culture 00:09:53.29\00:09:55.16 or a Jewish orientation 00:09:55.19\00:09:56.66 so there are a lot of things that they did 00:09:56.69\00:09:58.43 were part of their culture 00:09:58.46\00:09:59.83 that were completely against scripture 00:09:59.86\00:10:02.33 and against the gospel. 00:10:02.36\00:10:03.77 So they were not only bringing these practices 00:10:03.80\00:10:06.63 like eating food that was offered to idols, 00:10:06.67\00:10:10.07 they were also engaged in other idolatry practices. 00:10:10.11\00:10:13.91 For example, there was an entire culture in these, 00:10:13.94\00:10:17.38 you know, Greco-Roman, Hellenistic cultures 00:10:17.41\00:10:20.52 that also engaged in what they call temple prostitution. 00:10:20.55\00:10:24.75 So the whole idea of prostitution, you know, 00:10:24.79\00:10:28.29 we think of it today in a certain sense 00:10:28.32\00:10:30.63 but prostitution actually started in ancient times 00:10:30.66\00:10:32.89 and it was always associated with religious, 00:10:32.93\00:10:35.30 you know, observance. 00:10:35.33\00:10:37.07 In other words, they created a culture, 00:10:37.10\00:10:40.74 if you will, cults that were surrounding, 00:10:40.77\00:10:44.07 you know, this worship of a particular deity 00:10:44.11\00:10:46.78 and the highest form of human intimacy 00:10:46.81\00:10:49.51 was considered the highest form of worship 00:10:49.54\00:10:52.21 toward whatever God. 00:10:52.25\00:10:54.02 So we all know what the highest form of intimacy 00:10:54.05\00:10:57.12 between two human beings, you know, sexual intercourse. 00:10:57.15\00:11:00.59 So they would have an entire, 00:11:00.62\00:11:04.19 what they would call temple prostitutes, 00:11:04.23\00:11:06.09 both male and female 00:11:06.13\00:11:07.93 that would stand in the place of the particular deity or God, 00:11:07.96\00:11:11.83 engage in sexual intercourse with worshippers 00:11:11.87\00:11:15.47 as a form of the highest form of religious devotion. 00:11:15.50\00:11:19.24 So this happen on the regular, I mean, this happened in, 00:11:19.27\00:11:22.64 if you wanted to go and you had, you know, 00:11:22.68\00:11:24.95 once or twice a year you bring your flock of sheep 00:11:24.98\00:11:27.98 to get sheared, and trading, 00:11:28.02\00:11:29.48 and, you know, making your money, 00:11:29.52\00:11:31.39 you would go and engage with a temple prostitute. 00:11:31.42\00:11:35.29 So the God could bless your business transaction. 00:11:35.32\00:11:38.29 I mean, it was a common practice, 00:11:38.33\00:11:40.60 it was just like a everyday thing 00:11:40.63\00:11:42.53 in that culture. 00:11:42.56\00:11:44.10 So when they became Christians 00:11:44.13\00:11:45.73 and they came into the churches, 00:11:45.77\00:11:47.54 some of them were still practicing 00:11:47.57\00:11:49.40 these cultural things 00:11:49.44\00:11:51.27 and trying to blend these two practices. 00:11:51.31\00:11:54.28 Trying to blend Christianity with this, 00:11:54.31\00:11:57.35 you know, pagan culture that they had come from. 00:11:57.38\00:12:00.15 And the Bible and Paul is dealing 00:12:00.18\00:12:02.08 with this over and over again in these large cities 00:12:02.12\00:12:04.52 where all of these converts are coming in 00:12:04.55\00:12:06.45 from different cultural backgrounds, 00:12:06.49\00:12:08.32 and he's saying that you have to understand 00:12:08.36\00:12:11.23 that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. 00:12:11.26\00:12:15.86 It's the temple of God. 00:12:15.90\00:12:17.47 God is literally going to come and dwell in you, 00:12:17.50\00:12:20.77 just as he came and dwelt in, you know, 00:12:20.80\00:12:22.87 the Jewish temple of the sanctuary 00:12:22.90\00:12:24.64 and the tabernacle of old. 00:12:24.67\00:12:26.34 Now because Christ has died and been raised to the dead 00:12:26.37\00:12:29.91 and is now ministering, He sent His Holy Spirit 00:12:29.94\00:12:31.98 and God is literally desiring 00:12:32.01\00:12:33.85 to dwell inside of each and every individual Christian 00:12:33.88\00:12:37.45 who accepts His promises. 00:12:37.49\00:12:39.55 When He dwells inside, 00:12:39.59\00:12:40.96 He's not dwelling inside of a corrupt temple. 00:12:40.99\00:12:43.69 He doesn't want to dwell inside of a dirty temple, 00:12:43.73\00:12:45.49 that was why there was so much of a meticulous, you know, 00:12:45.53\00:12:49.23 guidelines and governance for the Jewish temple. 00:12:49.26\00:12:51.93 There was no, you know, filth in the temple. 00:12:51.97\00:12:55.87 You know, the only filth that came into the temple 00:12:55.90\00:12:57.91 was via the blood which symbolized a sin. 00:12:57.94\00:13:00.58 We don't want to get to deep into it, 00:13:00.61\00:13:01.94 but that blood was a reminder of sin, 00:13:01.98\00:13:05.41 that blood had to be shed, 00:13:05.45\00:13:06.78 that was the only filth in the temple 00:13:06.82\00:13:08.15 and that got cleansed, 00:13:08.18\00:13:09.52 you know, once a year on the Day of Atonement 00:13:09.55\00:13:10.89 but nevertheless, 00:13:10.92\00:13:12.25 He's likening the human body 00:13:12.29\00:13:13.62 and the accumulation of human individuals, 00:13:13.66\00:13:16.79 the church to the temple of God where God dwells. 00:13:16.83\00:13:20.03 So you cannot just glorify God in your spirit, 00:13:20.06\00:13:23.37 you can't just say, "I accept Christ, 00:13:23.40\00:13:25.97 I accept all of these biblical points and principles, 00:13:26.00\00:13:28.54 I accept the gospel, 00:13:28.57\00:13:29.90 but I'm still gonna to do whatever I want with my body." 00:13:29.94\00:13:32.17 We talked about something in a previous episode, 00:13:32.21\00:13:35.58 one particular pagan practice, 00:13:35.61\00:13:37.25 and now I'm gonna talk about another 00:13:37.28\00:13:38.61 it's called dualism, right? 00:13:38.65\00:13:40.32 So we know that Greco-Roman culture, 00:13:40.35\00:13:42.02 again Hellenistic culture, you know, you think of Plato, 00:13:42.05\00:13:45.02 Socrates, Aristotle, you know, Alexander the Great 00:13:45.05\00:13:47.92 and then what became the Greco-Roman culture. 00:13:47.96\00:13:50.43 You know, they looked at this idea of dualism 00:13:50.46\00:13:53.60 where there was a complete separation 00:13:53.63\00:13:55.36 between the physical, 00:13:55.40\00:13:56.73 the animate and the metaphysical, 00:13:56.77\00:13:58.53 the inanimate, the things 00:13:58.57\00:13:59.90 that you can perceive with your senses. 00:13:59.93\00:14:01.60 And they believed, they taught that everything 00:14:01.64\00:14:04.37 that was animate, physical was evil. 00:14:04.41\00:14:09.41 Whether that be this table, whether that be this book, 00:14:09.44\00:14:12.15 whether that be your human body, it was evil. 00:14:12.18\00:14:15.22 Everything inanimate that couldn't be perceived 00:14:15.25\00:14:17.25 by the senses was considered spiritual, metaphysical. 00:14:17.29\00:14:21.22 So the human spirit, the human psyche, 00:14:21.26\00:14:23.99 you know, the human ego was considered spiritual, 00:14:24.03\00:14:26.93 and therefore, everything spiritual was good and holy. 00:14:26.96\00:14:30.33 So they believed that 00:14:30.37\00:14:31.70 the spirit was just one day desiring 00:14:31.73\00:14:34.34 to break free from the shell, you know, the physical body 00:14:34.37\00:14:38.07 and it would go off into a greater higher existence. 00:14:38.11\00:14:40.81 So it really did not matter what you did with your body. 00:14:40.84\00:14:44.91 So they could do anything they wanted to their body. 00:14:44.95\00:14:46.48 So the physical things 00:14:46.51\00:14:48.02 because they were inherently evil, 00:14:48.05\00:14:49.62 it didn't really matter how you treated them. 00:14:49.65\00:14:51.75 Paul and the Holy Ghost are coming 00:14:51.79\00:14:53.46 and saying here in the Word 00:14:53.49\00:14:55.42 that it's not just acceptable to glorify God intellectually, 00:14:55.46\00:15:01.03 spiritually, you have to glorify God also 00:15:01.06\00:15:03.53 in your physical frame, in your body, 00:15:03.57\00:15:05.03 the choices that you make, 00:15:05.07\00:15:06.40 the things that you do with your body. 00:15:06.43\00:15:08.84 And so now when we're talking about having fun 00:15:08.87\00:15:11.77 and recreation, we can't just say, 00:15:11.81\00:15:13.91 "Oh, you can do whatever you want, it doesn't matter. 00:15:13.94\00:15:15.64 We can do this, we do that." 00:15:15.68\00:15:17.01 What you do to your physical body, 00:15:17.05\00:15:18.81 what you do to other people's physical body does matter. 00:15:18.85\00:15:22.35 Our body is the temple of God. 00:15:22.38\00:15:24.65 It's something that God desires us 00:15:24.69\00:15:26.39 to glorify through His power and through His spirit, 00:15:26.42\00:15:29.09 not just in one sense but in every sense. 00:15:29.12\00:15:31.76 So we have to take that into consideration. 00:15:31.79\00:15:33.83 I think that's a vitally important principle 00:15:33.86\00:15:36.67 that we must understand. 00:15:36.70\00:15:38.03 So then what some applications of ways 00:15:38.07\00:15:40.04 to preserve your body 00:15:40.07\00:15:43.27 when you think about having fun? 00:15:43.30\00:15:44.64 Because there's lots of things people do right now 00:15:44.67\00:15:46.01 in the name of fun and again, they may say safely 00:15:46.04\00:15:49.98 but it may not be safe. 00:15:50.01\00:15:51.48 In other words, there's a need for clarification. 00:15:51.51\00:15:53.18 So what would be some applications 00:15:53.21\00:15:54.88 of how someone might abuse their body in having fun 00:15:54.92\00:15:58.89 and obviously the contrast of that 00:15:58.92\00:16:00.56 which is to not do those things? 00:16:00.59\00:16:02.42 I mean, the list is long, right? 00:16:02.46\00:16:03.93 So we don't want to go too far. 00:16:03.96\00:16:05.29 Right. Just a few. 00:16:05.33\00:16:07.20 In context of hip-hop culture, that's normally experienced. 00:16:07.23\00:16:09.26 Yeah. 00:16:09.30\00:16:10.63 I mean, part of hip-hop culture is, you know, obviously, 00:16:10.67\00:16:14.17 you know, you have two cans. 00:16:14.20\00:16:15.80 We've been talking about this. 00:16:15.84\00:16:17.97 We don't want to paint the picture like hip-hop is, 00:16:18.01\00:16:20.24 even though they call themselves universal 00:16:20.28\00:16:22.18 and international, they're not unified. 00:16:22.21\00:16:25.08 They talk about it, they're not really unified. 00:16:25.11\00:16:26.98 You know, there's some in there that, 00:16:27.02\00:16:28.65 you know, have a plant-based diet, 00:16:28.68\00:16:30.95 and there's some that don't, 00:16:30.99\00:16:32.32 there's some in there that don't drink or smoke. 00:16:32.35\00:16:34.32 In fact, when we talk about those contradictions 00:16:34.36\00:16:36.96 there are artists, many artists that make hit records 00:16:36.99\00:16:41.20 about smoking and drinking. 00:16:41.23\00:16:43.97 Yup. And they don't smoke or drink. 00:16:44.00\00:16:47.10 I mean, people would be shocked to understand that 00:16:47.14\00:16:49.20 these same people that are promoting 00:16:49.24\00:16:51.67 smoking and drinking, 00:16:51.71\00:16:53.04 and the same people that are listening to it 00:16:53.07\00:16:54.91 and going out and smoking and drinking, 00:16:54.94\00:16:56.54 thinking they're in solidarity with the artists that they, 00:16:56.58\00:16:59.18 you know, idolize that artist doesn't smoke or drink. 00:16:59.21\00:17:01.78 Yup. 00:17:01.82\00:17:03.15 Because they understand 00:17:03.18\00:17:04.52 that if they want to have some longevity, 00:17:04.55\00:17:05.89 they want to be healthy, 00:17:05.92\00:17:07.26 then they're not gonna smoke or drink. 00:17:07.29\00:17:08.62 So that's a perfect example. 00:17:08.66\00:17:09.99 There is a heavy undertone in all pop culture. 00:17:10.03\00:17:12.89 You know, in all genres of music and of drugs, 00:17:12.93\00:17:16.46 you know, and alcohol. 00:17:16.50\00:17:17.83 You know, the old, you know, cliche, sex, drugs, 00:17:17.87\00:17:20.74 and rock and roll, it's still the same in hip-hop, 00:17:20.77\00:17:23.34 there's no different, right? 00:17:23.37\00:17:24.71 So that is a direct violation of your physical principles. 00:17:24.74\00:17:28.48 And again, we don't have time to go into all the science 00:17:28.51\00:17:30.68 and everything like that, but I don't think in 2000 00:17:30.71\00:17:33.68 and, you know, in the modern era, 00:17:33.72\00:17:36.22 I don't think that it's, you know, 00:17:36.25\00:17:39.15 we have to go through a much of a stretch 00:17:39.19\00:17:40.96 and many mental gymnastics to understand 00:17:40.99\00:17:44.09 that smoking cigarettes is bad for your health, 00:17:44.13\00:17:47.03 or smoking weed is bad for your health. 00:17:47.06\00:17:48.86 And now, I mean, nowadays we're down into 00:17:48.90\00:17:50.87 a whole another level 00:17:50.90\00:17:52.23 because people aren't just smoking, you know, 00:17:52.27\00:17:53.80 weed they got, you know, vaporizers, and edibles, 00:17:53.84\00:17:57.87 and medicinal marijuana, and you can go to, you know, 00:17:57.91\00:18:00.81 now they've got vending machines, 00:18:00.84\00:18:02.34 you know, in certain states where you get marijuana. 00:18:02.38\00:18:04.11 So it doesn't matter. 00:18:04.15\00:18:05.78 The harmful chemicals 00:18:05.81\00:18:07.15 and the substances in the thing, 00:18:07.18\00:18:08.68 no matter what form you 00:18:08.72\00:18:10.05 put it into your body is harming your body. 00:18:10.09\00:18:11.49 So that's a violation. 00:18:11.52\00:18:12.92 So the idea, you know, I used to not think 00:18:12.95\00:18:14.82 I could have fun, unless I smoked, 00:18:14.86\00:18:17.09 you know, and drank. 00:18:17.13\00:18:18.46 The night wasn't fun. 00:18:18.49\00:18:19.83 I would start the night out by, 00:18:19.86\00:18:21.20 you know, before there was even a party, 00:18:21.23\00:18:23.16 you would just begin your night with a certain ritual 00:18:23.20\00:18:26.33 to intoxicate yourself, to get to a certain level 00:18:26.37\00:18:29.37 and then continue to do that all throughout the night. 00:18:29.40\00:18:31.57 And that was the, you know, that was the fun. 00:18:31.61\00:18:34.58 Without that, oh, everything is boring. 00:18:34.61\00:18:36.51 You don't see the world the same or can't even, 00:18:36.54\00:18:38.31 you know, those harmful poisons, 00:18:38.35\00:18:42.85 toxins, chemical substances, drugs, narcotics, 00:18:42.88\00:18:46.45 you know, barbecues, the pills, that people are taking now, 00:18:46.49\00:18:50.23 the thing that's being promoted with the, you know, 00:18:50.26\00:18:53.60 putting the codeine and the other, 00:18:53.63\00:18:56.80 you know, drugs inside soda. 00:18:56.83\00:18:58.53 Yeah. 00:18:58.57\00:18:59.90 You know, the syrup or whatever they call it, 00:18:59.93\00:19:01.67 lean, all that stuff. 00:19:01.70\00:19:03.04 They are literally, you know, destroying their brains, 00:19:03.07\00:19:08.14 destroying their bodies, on a level 00:19:08.18\00:19:10.35 that they are not really going to be able to measure. 00:19:10.38\00:19:11.71 Right. 00:19:11.75\00:19:13.08 You know, they are not gonna be able to understand 00:19:13.11\00:19:14.45 what's happening until they are 10-20 years 00:19:14.48\00:19:15.82 down the line in some cases. 00:19:15.85\00:19:17.19 So those things are being promoted, 00:19:17.22\00:19:19.09 you know, those things are being highlighted, 00:19:19.12\00:19:21.46 those things are detrimental. 00:19:21.49\00:19:23.63 That is a violation of the principle 00:19:23.66\00:19:25.06 of the glorifying God in your body. 00:19:25.09\00:19:26.56 There is a whole another side 00:19:26.59\00:19:27.93 that we don't have time to talk about, 00:19:27.96\00:19:29.30 but, you know, there is an adverse effect 00:19:29.33\00:19:32.73 that stress has in the human body, right? 00:19:32.77\00:19:36.17 Stress hormones, you know, 00:19:36.20\00:19:38.84 anyways they are stress hormones 00:19:38.87\00:19:40.21 that's get released 00:19:40.24\00:19:41.58 when we have a stress response, right? 00:19:41.61\00:19:43.28 Well, stress response is designed to help us to escape, 00:19:43.31\00:19:45.75 you know, immediate danger, or immediate harm, 00:19:45.78\00:19:47.72 or help us to cope with deadlines, 00:19:47.75\00:19:49.98 and, you know, things happen in traumatic experiences 00:19:50.02\00:19:52.82 so there is such thing as healthy stress, right? 00:19:52.85\00:19:55.22 Because it comes, and then it goes away. 00:19:55.26\00:19:57.79 So the hormones come to help us cope, 00:19:57.83\00:19:59.96 and then they go away, that's normal, 00:20:00.00\00:20:02.63 God has build, you know, built that in us. 00:20:02.66\00:20:05.57 But then there is something called chronic stress 00:20:05.60\00:20:07.17 where that stress is unremitting 00:20:07.20\00:20:08.80 and when those hormones, 00:20:08.84\00:20:10.41 certain hormones are in your blood stream 00:20:10.44\00:20:11.87 and they don't go away, 00:20:11.91\00:20:13.48 it has a negative effect on your entire system. 00:20:13.51\00:20:16.31 Whether that be your reproductive system, 00:20:16.34\00:20:18.25 your immune system, every system 00:20:18.28\00:20:20.45 that's not needed for survival is shut down by these hormones. 00:20:20.48\00:20:24.52 So if it's chronically in your body, 00:20:24.55\00:20:26.69 you are chronically breaking down your body. 00:20:26.72\00:20:28.32 So there is lots of things that people do for fun 00:20:28.36\00:20:30.83 that creates stress, you know. 00:20:30.86\00:20:35.30 Anyways, things that people do for amusement. 00:20:35.33\00:20:36.87 Give an example, brother. 00:20:36.90\00:20:38.60 Hey, we are indicating, so go ahead. 00:20:38.63\00:20:39.97 Things that people do for amusement, 00:20:40.00\00:20:41.64 you know, I remember when I used to go to, 00:20:41.67\00:20:44.34 like a, you know, Disney World or Six Flags. 00:20:44.37\00:20:47.68 Yes, sir. You have your favorite ride. 00:20:47.71\00:20:50.28 When you get on that ride, you don't just go once. 00:20:50.31\00:20:53.31 I don't know, there might be some people 00:20:53.35\00:20:54.92 that do that but if I wait in line for something 00:20:54.95\00:20:57.69 and it surpassed my expectations, 00:20:57.72\00:21:01.16 you are going on that ride again. 00:21:01.19\00:21:02.52 You get right back on that line, yup. 00:21:02.56\00:21:03.89 You go ride on that again, you go again, 00:21:03.93\00:21:05.26 I remember one time, I went on a certain ride 00:21:05.29\00:21:06.63 may be like ten times in a row... 00:21:06.66\00:21:08.00 Yup. 00:21:08.03\00:21:09.36 'Cause it was close to closing and the line was no line, 00:21:09.40\00:21:10.90 I just kept running around, running around, running around. 00:21:10.93\00:21:14.74 That stress, you know, that idea, 00:21:14.77\00:21:16.71 that "Oh, I'm gonna die." 00:21:16.74\00:21:18.07 No, you are not. 00:21:18.11\00:21:19.44 You know, you're not gonna die, everything is okay. 00:21:19.47\00:21:20.81 You are going through a stress response. 00:21:20.84\00:21:22.44 And you go through that over, and over, and over again, 00:21:22.48\00:21:25.38 maybe for six hours out of your day, in a long day, 00:21:25.41\00:21:29.18 that's not good for your body. 00:21:29.22\00:21:30.55 So then are you basically saying 00:21:30.59\00:21:32.29 that going to amusement parks... 00:21:32.32\00:21:34.66 Yeah. 00:21:34.69\00:21:36.02 To, you know, get on these rides 00:21:36.06\00:21:38.46 and all these other things 00:21:38.49\00:21:39.83 that are creating this incredible stress 00:21:39.86\00:21:41.66 and releasing these hormones and keeping it there, 00:21:41.70\00:21:43.47 far beyond the time limits or frames 00:21:43.50\00:21:46.40 that it would be in the body and under the God's program 00:21:46.43\00:21:49.00 that this is something that is wrong. 00:21:49.04\00:21:51.77 This is not true biblical recreation. 00:21:51.81\00:21:54.74 It is a violation of physiological principles. 00:21:54.78\00:21:57.01 Yeah. 00:21:57.05\00:21:58.51 It doesn't promote health and longevity. 00:21:58.55\00:22:00.48 That's right, okay. 00:22:00.52\00:22:01.85 I mean, that's just the way it is. 00:22:01.88\00:22:03.22 So again, it's the innocence of desiring to have fun. 00:22:03.25\00:22:06.49 And again, these are all just things that, 00:22:06.52\00:22:08.09 you know, people do in various cultures. 00:22:08.12\00:22:10.99 And there is nothing wrong with having fun. 00:22:11.03\00:22:12.36 There is nothing wrong with doing something that brings, 00:22:12.39\00:22:14.56 you know, momentary exhilaration, 00:22:14.60\00:22:16.26 or happiness, or joy. 00:22:16.30\00:22:17.70 The question is what is it doing 00:22:17.73\00:22:19.10 and is it balanced. 00:22:19.13\00:22:20.64 We are going to get into another principle 00:22:20.67\00:22:22.14 about balancing temperance. 00:22:22.17\00:22:23.57 I want to build on a point in this. 00:22:23.61\00:22:25.17 You know, see, there may be some of our views 00:22:25.21\00:22:27.74 especially who can hear what you are saying 00:22:27.78\00:22:29.34 and say "Man, that sounds deep, that might even be extreme." 00:22:29.38\00:22:32.31 Right. They can say that. 00:22:32.35\00:22:33.68 But let's consider this, and I'm gonna consider this 00:22:33.72\00:22:35.75 from the text you just used in 1 Corinthians 6, right? 00:22:35.78\00:22:38.22 In 1 Corinthians 6:19, God says "What, no ye not, 00:22:38.25\00:22:42.09 that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost 00:22:42.12\00:22:44.06 which is in you, which ye have of God." 00:22:44.09\00:22:45.79 And this is how He closes it. Yes. 00:22:45.83\00:22:47.26 "And ye are not your own." Why? 00:22:47.30\00:22:51.70 Because you have been bought. Yup. 00:22:51.73\00:22:53.34 Now of course, this is speaking to the Christian, 00:22:53.37\00:22:54.97 this is speaking to the community 00:22:55.00\00:22:57.01 that has said, "I have accepted Christ, 00:22:57.04\00:22:59.21 I have accepted the atonement." 00:22:59.24\00:23:00.58 If you rejected Christ, 00:23:00.61\00:23:01.94 then this verse does not apply to you. 00:23:01.98\00:23:03.38 But if you and I say I accept Jesus Christ 00:23:03.41\00:23:05.75 as Lord and Savior, 00:23:05.78\00:23:07.12 I profess myself to be a Christian... 00:23:07.15\00:23:08.48 Yeah. 00:23:08.52\00:23:09.85 Then God is saying, then that means, 00:23:09.88\00:23:11.22 you have been bought. 00:23:11.25\00:23:12.59 You were bought with the precious blood of Christ 00:23:12.62\00:23:13.99 which means, you are not your own, 00:23:14.02\00:23:15.79 which means, you can't do 00:23:15.82\00:23:17.16 what you want to do with your body. 00:23:17.19\00:23:19.46 That's right. You have to go to the owner. 00:23:19.49\00:23:21.60 If I walk up in your store and I just take what I want, 00:23:21.63\00:23:24.10 there is a word for that in our society, 00:23:24.13\00:23:25.47 it's called stealing. 00:23:25.50\00:23:26.84 And the eighth commandment says "Thou shalt not steal." 00:23:26.87\00:23:28.77 And to break God's commandment is sin. 00:23:28.80\00:23:30.14 Yeah. 00:23:30.17\00:23:31.51 So therefore, they are ways that we can sin against God, 00:23:31.54\00:23:33.88 and sin against our bodies, when we do with 00:23:33.91\00:23:36.85 and what we want with our bodies 00:23:36.88\00:23:38.38 without consulting the owner. 00:23:38.41\00:23:40.12 And that is a hard pill to swallow for many people. 00:23:40.15\00:23:43.42 Very hard. 00:23:43.45\00:23:44.79 Because you know, as Christians especially we will say, 00:23:44.82\00:23:47.36 you know, we will say amen and rejoice, 00:23:47.39\00:23:49.19 when we talk about the world, you know, 00:23:49.22\00:23:51.09 the non-Christians and say 00:23:51.13\00:23:52.83 "Oh, Well, this is a contradiction." 00:23:52.86\00:23:54.33 Or we say "Oh, well, you know, 00:23:54.36\00:23:56.26 it's absurd for you to promote this practice, 00:23:56.30\00:23:59.57 but then violate it on the other side." 00:23:59.60\00:24:02.60 To say that we can be gods 00:24:02.64\00:24:04.77 and you don't have the right to say that. 00:24:04.81\00:24:06.27 God created you. 00:24:06.31\00:24:07.64 God, you know, is the only reason you exist. 00:24:07.68\00:24:09.58 You know, the Christ died for you, 00:24:09.61\00:24:11.41 and we get offended by that. 00:24:11.45\00:24:13.38 But then when, you know, as Christians, 00:24:13.42\00:24:16.08 we also don't understand that we are not at liberty. 00:24:16.12\00:24:18.79 We talk about that dependence verses independence. 00:24:18.82\00:24:21.42 And we say, "Yeah, you out there in the world, 00:24:21.46\00:24:23.29 you can't be, you know, independent from God. 00:24:23.32\00:24:26.26 You have to have total dependence." 00:24:26.29\00:24:28.10 And then in the church sometimes, 00:24:28.13\00:24:29.70 we come and rationalize 00:24:29.73\00:24:31.07 and we say "Oh, yeah, God doesn't care about that." 00:24:31.10\00:24:32.97 You know, we can be independent. 00:24:33.00\00:24:35.80 The Bible says we are not at liberty. 00:24:35.84\00:24:37.17 That's right. 00:24:37.21\00:24:38.54 We don't have the right to do whatever we want to do 00:24:38.57\00:24:40.38 spiritually or physically. 00:24:40.41\00:24:42.94 And then, you know, we can then apply 00:24:42.98\00:24:44.31 that to the mental, emotional, social, all that stuff. 00:24:44.35\00:24:46.92 We don't have the right to do all these things. 00:24:46.95\00:24:48.28 So that's what the text is saying, 00:24:48.32\00:24:50.65 it's an important principle that we have to understand 00:24:50.69\00:24:53.66 and, you know, often times 00:24:53.69\00:24:55.02 we use it in the context of diet 00:24:55.06\00:24:56.89 and, you know, nutrition, you know, diet choices, 00:24:56.93\00:24:58.59 and you know, that kind of stuff. 00:24:58.63\00:24:59.96 It goes far beyond that. 00:25:00.00\00:25:01.33 It's literally in everything 'cause the context of it 00:25:01.36\00:25:02.90 is dealing with temple prostitution. 00:25:02.93\00:25:04.73 You know, it's dealing with melding cultural practices 00:25:04.77\00:25:07.97 with Christianity that's unacceptable. 00:25:08.00\00:25:10.74 And we're gonna talk a lot about that. 00:25:10.77\00:25:12.44 So we can't just say, use the excuse, 00:25:12.47\00:25:14.68 "Oh, that's my culture." 00:25:14.71\00:25:16.81 That's fine, if that's your culture 00:25:16.85\00:25:18.18 but the question is, 00:25:18.21\00:25:19.55 if your culture violates biblical principle, 00:25:19.58\00:25:21.78 it has to go. 00:25:21.82\00:25:23.45 Yeah, because one or two has to go, 00:25:23.49\00:25:24.92 either we are gonna say, 00:25:24.95\00:25:26.29 we'll get rid of biblical principle, 00:25:26.32\00:25:27.66 so I can maintain my culture 00:25:27.69\00:25:29.39 or we're gonna have to surrender things 00:25:29.42\00:25:30.79 with my culture to maintain biblical principles. 00:25:30.83\00:25:33.29 For the Christian, the answer is very simple. 00:25:33.33\00:25:35.13 Man shall not live by anything else 00:25:35.16\00:25:39.07 except by the Word of God. Yeah. 00:25:39.10\00:25:41.27 Man shall live by the Word of God. 00:25:41.30\00:25:42.67 So that means that, whatever I am practicing 00:25:42.70\00:25:45.04 that violates God's word has to be surrendered. 00:25:45.07\00:25:47.41 And I appreciate this point because 00:25:47.44\00:25:49.98 in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, the Bible says "I pray God." 00:25:50.01\00:25:53.65 Talking about the second coming of Christ... 00:25:53.68\00:25:55.02 Yeah. 00:25:55.05\00:25:56.38 It says, "I pray God your whole spirit, soul, 00:25:56.42\00:25:59.05 and body be preserved blameless 00:25:59.09\00:26:03.32 at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 00:26:03.36\00:26:05.49 So that means that I really do have to consider 00:26:05.53\00:26:08.20 how does this affect me, 00:26:08.23\00:26:11.33 when I am getting ready to participate 00:26:11.37\00:26:12.70 in this recreation activity? 00:26:12.73\00:26:14.10 How will this affect my physiology? 00:26:14.14\00:26:15.74 How will this affect my body? 00:26:15.77\00:26:17.47 What's it going to do to my mind? 00:26:17.51\00:26:18.84 Can I stay focused? 00:26:18.87\00:26:20.21 Can I still whisper a prayer at any moment 00:26:20.24\00:26:21.58 and stay connected to Christ? 00:26:21.61\00:26:24.35 Or is what I am doing, drowning out the voice of God 00:26:24.38\00:26:27.28 and all I'm doing is being focused in the moment. 00:26:27.32\00:26:29.45 You know, is it hurting me, literally physically causing, 00:26:29.48\00:26:32.99 you know, my blood pressure to go up, you know, I mean, 00:26:33.02\00:26:35.66 we can really get deep into this thing. 00:26:35.69\00:26:37.03 That's right. 00:26:37.06\00:26:38.39 But, it's a principle 00:26:38.43\00:26:39.76 that God lays before us as His people, 00:26:39.79\00:26:41.23 that He says "Pay attention to these things, 00:26:41.26\00:26:43.33 and by His grace as we do it, we will have good recreation. 00:26:43.37\00:26:47.84 We will have good enjoyment. 00:26:47.87\00:26:49.84 We will have good as simple, 00:26:49.87\00:26:51.21 as the simple vernacular says, fun. 00:26:51.24\00:26:52.81 We will be able to do these things 00:26:52.84\00:26:54.18 without a problem. 00:26:54.21\00:26:55.54 Friends, we have been going through the word here 00:26:55.58\00:26:58.18 and you know, this is getting deep, 00:26:58.21\00:27:00.18 and it's gonna get deeper 00:27:00.22\00:27:01.55 because we have so many principles 00:27:01.58\00:27:03.22 that are in the Word of God that gives instruction on 00:27:03.25\00:27:06.52 what constitutes biblical recreation, 00:27:06.55\00:27:08.99 God's concept of safely having fun. 00:27:09.02\00:27:11.76 And you can see, it's a lots more detailed, 00:27:11.79\00:27:14.33 it's a lot more succinct, it is a lot clearer 00:27:14.36\00:27:16.97 what God wants 00:27:17.00\00:27:18.33 and He knows that He had to do this 00:27:18.37\00:27:20.34 because He knows the human frailty. 00:27:20.37\00:27:23.54 He knows that we have hearts that are bent towards doing 00:27:23.57\00:27:27.31 that which is wrong rather than that which is right. 00:27:27.34\00:27:29.28 And God love you, and He loved me, 00:27:29.31\00:27:31.11 and He loves all of us too much to let us function 00:27:31.15\00:27:34.22 by our own interpretations of what is fun or enjoyment. 00:27:34.25\00:27:37.09 And therefore, He teaches us His words 00:27:37.12\00:27:39.82 and when we apply them, 00:27:39.85\00:27:41.19 the Bible says something beautiful, 00:27:41.22\00:27:42.59 it tells us "Happy are ye." 00:27:42.62\00:27:45.59 And this is what God wants for all of us to be happy. 00:27:45.63\00:27:48.16 And we will talk more about it in our next episode 00:27:48.20\00:27:50.30 because we actually still have more. 00:27:50.33\00:27:51.77 We have more, we want to give it to you 00:27:51.80\00:27:53.37 and I know the Lord will bless. 00:27:53.40\00:27:55.10 So until the next episode, continue to be faithful, 00:27:55.14\00:27:58.07 remember the words of Proverbs 2:6 that tells us, 00:27:58.11\00:28:01.11 "It is the Lord that gives us wisdom, 00:28:01.14\00:28:03.55 and out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding." 00:28:03.58\00:28:07.85 God bless you. 00:28:07.88\00:28:09.32
