Hello, I'm Lance. And I'm Dwayne. 00:00:29.09\00:00:30.96 And welcome to another episode of TKS, 00:00:30.99\00:00:33.86 a True Knowledge of Self 00:00:33.90\00:00:35.60 where we get to know ourselves from a biblical perspective. 00:00:35.63\00:00:39.20 We have been going over several points 00:00:39.23\00:00:41.70 as it relates to the cornerstones, 00:00:41.74\00:00:43.74 the pillars of hip-hop culture 00:00:43.77\00:00:46.37 and then doing a comparison 00:00:46.41\00:00:48.78 of how it looks towards the Christian culture 00:00:48.81\00:00:51.08 or the Christian pillars of the faith. 00:00:51.11\00:00:53.52 And what we've been seeing is a contrast 00:00:53.55\00:00:55.98 rather than a union. 00:00:56.02\00:00:57.49 And one of the things we've been looking at 00:00:57.52\00:00:59.45 over the past few episodes or a few of the things 00:00:59.49\00:01:01.92 was the various corners as mentioned 00:01:01.96\00:01:04.36 by the very thought leaders of hip-hop culture 00:01:04.39\00:01:06.33 which are love, peace, and unity. 00:01:06.36\00:01:10.07 These are the things that we have been reviewing. 00:01:10.10\00:01:11.83 And in our last episode, we talked a lot about unity, 00:01:11.87\00:01:15.14 false forms of unity 00:01:15.17\00:01:17.14 but then, of course, the true forms, 00:01:17.17\00:01:18.87 the biblical forms. 00:01:18.91\00:01:20.24 And as we looked at it, we studied Acts 2 and Acts 4 00:01:20.28\00:01:23.85 and we saw the blessed fruit 00:01:23.88\00:01:25.58 that comes from those who have received 00:01:25.61\00:01:27.68 God's Spirit of truth 00:01:27.72\00:01:29.25 and are enabled to have true unity 00:01:29.28\00:01:32.32 one with another 00:01:32.35\00:01:33.69 and therefore give a true demonstration 00:01:33.72\00:01:35.06 of what it is to be a follower of Jesus Christ. 00:01:35.09\00:01:37.43 Well, we are now at the point where today, 00:01:37.46\00:01:39.66 we're going to be talking about that fourth pillar 00:01:39.69\00:01:42.46 or the fourth cornerstone 00:01:42.50\00:01:44.07 that was mentioned in hip-hop culture 00:01:44.10\00:01:46.27 which was none other than safely having fun. 00:01:46.30\00:01:50.34 So, Lance, we're gonna be talking about 00:01:50.37\00:01:51.71 this safely having fun 00:01:51.74\00:01:53.07 because, you know, we know the word fun 00:01:53.11\00:01:54.88 is not something mentioned in the Bible, 00:01:54.91\00:01:56.75 yet, there's lots of words 00:01:56.78\00:01:58.38 that are not mentioned in the Bible 00:01:58.41\00:01:59.75 but the principles are there. 00:01:59.78\00:02:01.12 And when somebody thinks of safely having fun, 00:02:01.15\00:02:03.49 would you say that's a good term 00:02:03.52\00:02:04.85 or a bad term? 00:02:04.89\00:02:06.22 It's a good term. Yeah, it's a good term. 00:02:06.25\00:02:07.59 You know, there's nothing wrong with safely having fun 00:02:07.62\00:02:11.23 and growing up, both of us, in hip-hop culture 00:02:11.26\00:02:14.10 and participating whether it be an Mcing like yourself 00:02:14.13\00:02:16.93 or dancing like myself, 00:02:16.97\00:02:18.70 there were different ways that we would, 00:02:18.73\00:02:20.24 you know, demonstrate 00:02:20.27\00:02:21.60 how we understood safely having fun. 00:02:21.64\00:02:23.30 And I did look it up and I know you did as well. 00:02:23.34\00:02:25.67 We were trying to, you know, I believe that it's important 00:02:25.71\00:02:28.74 for our viewers 00:02:28.78\00:02:30.11 that they understand 00:02:30.15\00:02:31.61 what's coming from the horse's mouth if you will. 00:02:31.65\00:02:35.35 So we looked online, 00:02:35.38\00:02:36.72 we checked and looked at all sorts of resources to say, 00:02:36.75\00:02:39.22 "How do they define safely having fun, " 00:02:39.25\00:02:41.62 because that's a very, very broad term, 00:02:41.66\00:02:44.13 it can easily be privately interpreted. 00:02:44.16\00:02:47.10 And we didn't want to do that 00:02:47.13\00:02:48.70 but we couldn't really find anything 00:02:48.73\00:02:50.37 but when we refer back to our own experiences, 00:02:50.40\00:02:52.77 you know, growing up in hip-hop culture, 00:02:52.80\00:02:54.54 there were some things that we did understand 00:02:54.57\00:02:56.57 as far as safely having fun. 00:02:56.60\00:02:57.94 So what would you say in your understanding 00:02:57.97\00:03:00.94 from the perspective of hip-hop culture 00:03:00.98\00:03:03.91 constitutes safely having fun? 00:03:03.95\00:03:05.88 I mean, I'm gonna just only use my experience pretty much. 00:03:05.91\00:03:08.88 I think a lot of these things what we've been finding 00:03:08.92\00:03:11.22 is that the statements are very veiled. 00:03:11.25\00:03:13.99 Meaning, they're good statements on the surface 00:03:14.02\00:03:16.22 but if you really do some investigation 00:03:16.26\00:03:18.39 and, you know, probe a little bit, 00:03:18.43\00:03:19.76 you'll find out that it's kind of loose, you know, 00:03:19.79\00:03:23.87 you know, do whatever you want, 00:03:23.90\00:03:25.33 you know, do what you like as long as everybody's okay. 00:03:25.37\00:03:28.54 And so for me, I mean, when you talk about having fun, 00:03:28.57\00:03:32.61 you're talking about partying, you're talking about, 00:03:32.64\00:03:36.85 you know, concerts, performances, 00:03:36.88\00:03:39.11 you know, I was doing MC things. 00:03:39.15\00:03:41.02 So doing a show, the after parties, 00:03:41.05\00:03:44.05 you know, all these kind of things, 00:03:44.09\00:03:45.82 that was the idea of having fun. 00:03:45.85\00:03:47.59 You know, get-togethers in the house 00:03:47.62\00:03:49.66 and it's obviously drinking, smoking, 00:03:49.69\00:03:52.73 you know, girls, all kinds of stuff going on, music. 00:03:52.76\00:03:55.63 So, you know, that's the kind of, 00:03:55.66\00:03:58.93 you know, "innocent form of having fun," 00:03:58.97\00:04:02.00 but you know what goes down at those things, 00:04:02.04\00:04:04.07 you know, what happens and what transpires. 00:04:04.11\00:04:06.81 And then there's the more, you know, devious elements. 00:04:06.84\00:04:10.65 I mean, I used to do a lot of stuff for fun 00:04:10.68\00:04:12.95 that was straight criminal behavior. 00:04:12.98\00:04:14.32 Yes. 00:04:14.35\00:04:15.68 I mean, you know, I used to beat people up for fun 00:04:15.72\00:04:17.15 and steal stuff for fun, 00:04:17.19\00:04:18.52 and do things that were completely, 00:04:18.55\00:04:20.46 you know, ignorant, violent, 00:04:20.49\00:04:23.86 filled with anger, and wrath, and destruction. 00:04:23.89\00:04:26.53 And sometimes, 00:04:26.56\00:04:27.90 I did it for no other reason than just to have fun. 00:04:27.93\00:04:29.70 Yeah. 00:04:29.73\00:04:31.07 And that was kind of, 00:04:31.10\00:04:32.73 you know, I don't know if I could say 00:04:32.77\00:04:34.14 it was applauded but it was recognized. 00:04:34.17\00:04:37.34 You had value points, 00:04:37.37\00:04:38.74 you know, if you're gonna be out in the streets 00:04:38.77\00:04:40.28 and have a reputation in the streets, 00:04:40.31\00:04:43.45 if you do that kind of stuff for fun, 00:04:43.48\00:04:45.18 it gives you, you know, credibility, 00:04:45.21\00:04:47.92 it gives you status, it gives you, you know, this, 00:04:47.95\00:04:51.35 you know, reputation if you will 00:04:51.39\00:04:53.69 that you want to have, 00:04:53.72\00:04:55.06 if you're going to be doing certain things 00:04:55.09\00:04:56.42 and operating at a higher level in that culture. 00:04:56.46\00:04:59.13 Well, I'll put it to you this way. 00:04:59.16\00:05:00.70 When I think about some of the things 00:05:00.73\00:05:03.57 that many of the, 00:05:03.60\00:05:05.73 well, not even thought leaders but even some of just, 00:05:05.77\00:05:07.87 maybe they weren't a thought leader 00:05:07.90\00:05:09.24 but nevertheless they were an influential participant 00:05:09.27\00:05:11.61 in hip-hop culture, 00:05:11.64\00:05:12.97 you know, some of the rappers and whatnot, 00:05:13.01\00:05:14.54 they did put forth an effort 00:05:14.58\00:05:17.78 to kind of help us understand 00:05:17.81\00:05:19.15 a little bit better safely having fun 00:05:19.18\00:05:20.62 as I think about it. 00:05:20.65\00:05:21.98 An example, KRS-One, stop the violence. 00:05:22.02\00:05:25.09 You know, he was right there in the front, 00:05:25.12\00:05:27.82 brought a whole bunch of rappers together 00:05:27.86\00:05:30.39 when they talked about self-destruction. 00:05:30.43\00:05:32.39 And everybody was coming together, 00:05:32.43\00:05:34.00 talking about the importance of nonviolence. 00:05:34.03\00:05:37.10 So I would definitely think that 00:05:37.13\00:05:38.93 when they think of safely having fun, 00:05:38.97\00:05:40.94 it's in these gatherings like you said, 00:05:40.97\00:05:42.84 concerts, house parties or whatever it may be 00:05:42.87\00:05:45.84 and coming together without violence. 00:05:45.87\00:05:48.04 You know, so that would probably 00:05:48.08\00:05:49.41 be a safe interpretation 00:05:49.44\00:05:50.78 of what it means to safely have fun. 00:05:50.81\00:05:53.62 Coming together and enjoying yourself 00:05:53.65\00:05:56.12 but without violence, 00:05:56.15\00:05:57.49 so that may be one aspect of safely having fun. 00:05:57.52\00:06:00.02 Another one, there were times when, you know, teen pregnancy, 00:06:00.06\00:06:04.26 sexually transmitted diseases were at in incredible rise 00:06:04.29\00:06:07.43 and they're still on the rise. 00:06:07.46\00:06:08.80 But I remember, there were some hip-hop artists 00:06:08.83\00:06:11.37 that would come out and say, 00:06:11.40\00:06:12.73 "Hey, listen, you got to practice safe sex." 00:06:12.77\00:06:15.04 Or then they would promote, 00:06:15.07\00:06:17.04 you know, the usage of condoms or some other type of thing 00:06:17.07\00:06:20.28 that could be used to make sure 00:06:20.31\00:06:21.68 that someone does not catch a disease 00:06:21.71\00:06:24.38 or, of course, impregnate someone at, 00:06:24.41\00:06:27.12 you know, at a young age or what have you. 00:06:27.15\00:06:28.58 So again, safely having fun might be, 00:06:28.62\00:06:32.29 not that you stop fornication, 00:06:32.32\00:06:34.39 but more so that you just practice it 00:06:34.42\00:06:37.66 without suffering the disease. 00:06:37.69\00:06:40.20 And I see the smirk in your face 00:06:40.23\00:06:41.80 and I got the same smirk 00:06:41.83\00:06:43.16 because we know that, you know, that concept is quite worldly. 00:06:43.20\00:06:46.43 But nevertheless 00:06:46.47\00:06:47.80 this is how people think it's okay. 00:06:47.84\00:06:49.70 And even certain individuals 00:06:49.74\00:06:51.07 that we're gonna show later on practice Christianity, 00:06:51.11\00:06:54.14 but yet they still are hip-hop artists. 00:06:54.18\00:06:56.18 And yet, they will call themselves Christians 00:06:56.21\00:06:58.65 but they will definitely practice fornication 00:06:58.68\00:07:00.78 amongst other things. 00:07:00.82\00:07:02.15 That has to be addressed but we will, 00:07:02.18\00:07:03.52 I know in some future episodes. 00:07:03.55\00:07:05.62 Also drinking. Yeah. 00:07:05.65\00:07:07.22 We know that in every party like you said, 00:07:07.26\00:07:09.59 there's going to be a lot of drinking, alcohol, 00:07:09.62\00:07:11.79 and things of that nature. 00:07:11.83\00:07:13.16 When you can't go to a club, 00:07:13.19\00:07:14.53 you cannot go even to a house party 00:07:14.56\00:07:16.67 nine times out of ten 00:07:16.70\00:07:18.03 where there, alcohol is not present. 00:07:18.07\00:07:20.17 And if it's not present, there's somebody 00:07:20.20\00:07:21.84 who had definitely has it in their pocket 00:07:21.87\00:07:23.44 and will walk up to that fruit punch and spike it. 00:07:23.47\00:07:25.54 So, you know, alcohol is something there 00:07:25.57\00:07:27.81 so you had a hip-hop artist that would come out and say, 00:07:27.84\00:07:30.61 you know, you got to don't drink and drive 00:07:30.65\00:07:32.81 or, you know, just have a little moderation 00:07:32.85\00:07:35.42 but don't take too much. 00:07:35.45\00:07:36.79 So I would think 00:07:36.82\00:07:38.15 that this is what is considered 00:07:38.19\00:07:41.02 in the mind of the thought leaders 00:07:41.06\00:07:43.32 when they develop these cornerstones 00:07:43.36\00:07:45.29 of safely having fun. 00:07:45.33\00:07:47.33 You can still go ahead and do a lot of these things 00:07:47.36\00:07:49.16 but you got to do it in moderation 00:07:49.20\00:07:50.63 or do it with some type of protective measures, et cetera 00:07:50.67\00:07:55.50 or like we said, you know, don't fight, 00:07:55.54\00:07:57.97 don't get caught up 00:07:58.01\00:07:59.34 because I remember going to parties 00:07:59.37\00:08:00.71 and I do remember, one night, I remember, 00:08:00.74\00:08:03.31 I was talking to Mom and Dad, and I told them, 00:08:03.35\00:08:05.68 I said, "I'm gonna go to a party tonight." 00:08:05.71\00:08:07.05 I'm gonna go to, you know, the Knights of Columbus 00:08:07.08\00:08:09.48 or whatever place I was going to go to. 00:08:09.52\00:08:11.32 And when I wanted to go there, 00:08:11.35\00:08:13.96 Mom and Dad said, "Sure, you can go." 00:08:13.99\00:08:16.02 And then my friends came to pick me up 00:08:16.06\00:08:17.76 and all of a sudden, they changed their minds. 00:08:17.79\00:08:19.13 They were just like, "Oh, you can't go." 00:08:19.16\00:08:20.50 And I was like, "What! You said..." 00:08:20.53\00:08:23.16 And they were like, "You can't go." 00:08:23.20\00:08:25.03 And I remember calling my friends and say, 00:08:25.07\00:08:26.43 "Listen, my mother and father said I can't go 00:08:26.47\00:08:28.14 so I can't go." 00:08:28.17\00:08:29.50 But then I called them back and said, 00:08:29.54\00:08:30.87 "Listen, they go to bed at about 11 o'clock. 00:08:30.91\00:08:33.14 Pull the car up in front of the house at 12, 00:08:33.17\00:08:34.61 I will be outside. 00:08:34.64\00:08:35.98 And I was ready to do some dirty work 00:08:36.01\00:08:37.35 and I was ready to literally sneak out the house. 00:08:37.38\00:08:39.21 And for some reason, 00:08:39.25\00:08:40.58 Mom and Dad stayed up late that night 00:08:40.62\00:08:42.42 all the way till 1, 2 o'clock in the morning. 00:08:42.45\00:08:44.55 And I had to call my friends and say, 00:08:44.59\00:08:45.92 "Listen, just forget it, I'm not going." 00:08:45.95\00:08:47.29 Yeah. So they went to the party. 00:08:47.32\00:08:48.96 Following day comes along and when I went to see them, 00:08:48.99\00:08:51.69 I was like, "Man, how was the party?" 00:08:51.73\00:08:53.23 They were like, "Terrible!" 00:08:53.26\00:08:54.60 And I was like, "What! What happened?" 00:08:54.63\00:08:56.70 And they said, "A fight broke out, 00:08:56.73\00:08:58.97 guy pulled out a gun, started shooting, 00:08:59.00\00:09:00.67 you know, one guy got literally shot 00:09:00.70\00:09:02.74 from four different angles, 00:09:02.77\00:09:04.24 you know, and was killed, 00:09:04.27\00:09:05.61 and it was just a horrible bloody night." 00:09:05.64\00:09:08.08 And I'm looking back at that now 00:09:08.11\00:09:10.31 and I'm saying, "Well, thank God 00:09:10.35\00:09:11.78 that He was protecting me. 00:09:11.81\00:09:13.15 He, you know, He allowed circumstances to take place 00:09:13.18\00:09:15.58 to spare my life 00:09:15.62\00:09:17.05 because the Lord knew that even though I was living 00:09:17.09\00:09:19.75 absolutely rebellious lifestyle, 00:09:19.79\00:09:21.49 one day this hardheaded boy is going to be my servant. 00:09:21.52\00:09:23.76 And I praise God for that. I'm thankful. 00:09:23.79\00:09:25.33 And that reminds me of a similar story. 00:09:25.36\00:09:27.86 I got a couple actually, 00:09:27.90\00:09:29.23 but one in particular of those instances. 00:09:29.26\00:09:31.80 After I started, you know, researching 00:09:31.83\00:09:34.14 and studying religion and things, 00:09:34.17\00:09:35.50 but I was still out on the street 00:09:35.54\00:09:36.87 and still heavily in hip-hop, there was a party. 00:09:36.91\00:09:40.28 And you know, it was really, 00:09:40.31\00:09:42.21 you know, like one of my friends 00:09:42.24\00:09:44.31 invited us to the party, 00:09:44.35\00:09:46.05 wasn't too sure about it but we came anyway. 00:09:46.08\00:09:48.45 And when we got there, 00:09:48.48\00:09:49.82 you know, the party was real, you know, dead. 00:09:49.85\00:09:52.02 It was kind of, you know, we were just like, 00:09:52.05\00:09:53.79 "Well, we can go sit at home. 00:09:53.82\00:09:55.16 This is not really a party." 00:09:55.19\00:09:56.69 So we want to go have some fun, 00:09:56.73\00:09:58.06 this is not fun, we want to leave. 00:09:58.09\00:10:00.56 And I'm telling my friend. 00:10:00.60\00:10:01.93 I'm like, "Hey," you know, come on, man, let's go, 00:10:01.96\00:10:03.53 there's nothing happening here." 00:10:03.57\00:10:04.90 And he's like, "Nah, nah, I want to stay. 00:10:04.93\00:10:06.27 I want to stay." 00:10:06.30\00:10:07.64 And so after a while at back and forth 00:10:07.67\00:10:09.00 and nothing's happening. 00:10:09.04\00:10:10.37 He's like, "Come on, give it, like you know, some time. 00:10:10.41\00:10:11.74 You know, he's going to pick up." 00:10:11.77\00:10:13.11 Nothing ever happened 00:10:13.14\00:10:14.48 so eventually me and one of my friends left. 00:10:14.51\00:10:15.84 And we left my other friend and he wanted to stay there. 00:10:15.88\00:10:18.41 And as soon as we left, literally maybe, 00:10:18.45\00:10:21.38 you know, within an hour after we left the party, 00:10:21.42\00:10:25.42 another you know, associate from, 00:10:25.45\00:10:29.42 you know, the area came to the party 00:10:29.46\00:10:33.16 and confronted my friend. 00:10:33.19\00:10:35.66 And they got in a little argument 00:10:35.70\00:10:37.77 and he brought his brother, 00:10:37.80\00:10:39.80 the guy that came to confront my friend, 00:10:39.83\00:10:41.54 he brought his brother. 00:10:41.57\00:10:42.90 And the brother pulled a gun, 00:10:42.94\00:10:44.27 you know, right on him in the middle of the party. 00:10:44.31\00:10:47.31 And the owner or somebody that was close, 00:10:47.34\00:10:51.11 you know, it was a house party 00:10:51.15\00:10:52.48 and so somebody stepped in 00:10:52.51\00:10:53.85 and say, "Hey, what's going on?" 00:10:53.88\00:10:55.22 And he just started firing. 00:10:55.25\00:10:56.58 And you know, guy got shot. 00:10:56.62\00:10:59.39 People got, you know, some straight bullets and all that. 00:10:59.42\00:11:01.92 But if I was still there, 00:11:01.96\00:11:04.39 and somebody is coming in and confronting my friend, 00:11:04.43\00:11:08.03 that's going to be me, 00:11:08.06\00:11:09.40 that's gonna be me stepping in, you know, got shot in the face. 00:11:09.43\00:11:12.23 So you know, those kind of things where God, 00:11:12.27\00:11:16.54 you know, kind of ruined my night, 00:11:16.57\00:11:18.47 you know, going to a party, no, it's not, 00:11:18.51\00:11:20.74 you know, and the whole motivation, 00:11:20.78\00:11:22.11 we're just having fun. 00:11:22.14\00:11:23.48 Again that we talked about that selfishness 00:11:23.51\00:11:24.85 and self-indulgence. 00:11:24.88\00:11:26.21 And so I'm going to talk about 00:11:26.25\00:11:27.58 because we're going to get into some of the, 00:11:27.62\00:11:28.95 more of the contradictions later on. 00:11:28.98\00:11:30.32 And so there's another story I want to reserve to later 00:11:30.35\00:11:33.02 because when I started going through that transition, 00:11:33.05\00:11:36.19 when I started to understand that the lifestyle I was living 00:11:36.22\00:11:39.46 was destructive, 00:11:39.49\00:11:41.33 I didn't quite understand Christian culture. 00:11:41.36\00:11:43.47 I wasn't a Christian 00:11:43.50\00:11:45.30 but I was going in that direction. 00:11:45.33\00:11:46.87 And finally, when I accepted the gospel, 00:11:46.90\00:11:49.64 I still kind of held on to the street 00:11:49.67\00:11:52.07 because I met people in the church 00:11:52.11\00:11:54.28 that would live in the whole hip-hop street life. 00:11:54.31\00:11:56.61 So I still kind of that, you know, dabbled with it. 00:11:56.64\00:11:59.88 And so I want to tell that story a little later on, 00:11:59.91\00:12:02.18 but, you know, when we talk about safely having fun 00:12:02.22\00:12:06.79 and we're really talking about, 00:12:06.82\00:12:08.16 you know, another word that we use is recreation. 00:12:08.19\00:12:11.26 There are principles that are there 00:12:11.29\00:12:14.53 that guidelines that the Bible gives. 00:12:14.56\00:12:16.13 While it doesn't mention the word fun, 00:12:16.16\00:12:18.17 there are principles that it gives for recreation, 00:12:18.20\00:12:20.54 for things that, you know, leisure activity if you will. 00:12:20.57\00:12:23.41 So what are some of the principles 00:12:23.44\00:12:26.91 that the Bible outlines, 00:12:26.94\00:12:28.51 you know, what do you think is important for us to know 00:12:28.54\00:12:30.45 when we're discussing to safely having fun? 00:12:30.48\00:12:32.18 And this is a good question 00:12:32.21\00:12:33.55 because I can remember even when I started to embrace, 00:12:33.58\00:12:37.95 like we talked about the violence 00:12:37.99\00:12:39.32 and stuff that happened at parties. 00:12:39.35\00:12:40.69 But I remember going to a lot of parties 00:12:40.72\00:12:42.06 where there was a very heavy emphasis, 00:12:42.09\00:12:45.19 no drinking, 00:12:45.23\00:12:46.96 you know, guys, 00:12:47.00\00:12:48.33 we just want to have a good time tonight and whatever... 00:12:48.36\00:12:50.80 Yeah, and pat downs. 00:12:50.83\00:12:52.17 I used to do, yeah, I used to do pat downs, 00:12:52.20\00:12:54.64 you know, I was only you know, 15, 16 00:12:54.67\00:12:57.24 but I would always be. 00:12:57.27\00:12:58.61 So I would always get, you know, "Hey, you want to, 00:12:58.64\00:13:01.28 you know, be the bouncer it was a house party 00:13:01.31\00:13:03.31 and you get, you know, free drinks, free entrance. 00:13:03.35\00:13:05.91 So sometimes I would do it. 00:13:05.95\00:13:08.08 Whether it's a house party 00:13:08.12\00:13:09.45 or you know a professional venue, 00:13:09.48\00:13:11.19 people are getting patted down. 00:13:11.22\00:13:12.85 So there is the idea 00:13:12.89\00:13:14.62 that we don't want this to happen 00:13:14.66\00:13:16.79 but you're kind of setting the stage anyway. 00:13:16.83\00:13:18.46 Well, that's the point 00:13:18.49\00:13:19.83 because I can still remember going to those parties 00:13:19.86\00:13:21.90 where there was deliberate effort to say, 00:13:21.93\00:13:24.23 "We just want to have a good fun night tonight." 00:13:24.27\00:13:26.67 And those nights still turned out 00:13:26.70\00:13:28.47 into nights of violence, 00:13:28.50\00:13:29.84 nights of lewdness, 00:13:29.87\00:13:31.57 nights of, you know, foul practices, 00:13:31.61\00:13:33.68 nights of day's practices, you know. 00:13:33.71\00:13:35.68 So the very things that were trying to, 00:13:35.71\00:13:38.58 they were trying to hold that day, 00:13:38.61\00:13:40.12 it was not successful. 00:13:40.15\00:13:41.95 And we still see this happening today 00:13:41.98\00:13:43.32 because there are still lots of parties and concerts 00:13:43.35\00:13:45.25 and things happening all over the world 00:13:45.29\00:13:47.22 where unfortunately 00:13:47.26\00:13:48.59 safety is still an issue, you know. 00:13:48.62\00:13:51.03 So because of that again, 00:13:51.06\00:13:52.86 we have to go to scripture to say, 00:13:52.89\00:13:54.30 well, what's God's concept of safely having fun?" 00:13:54.33\00:14:00.27 What's God's concept?" 00:14:00.30\00:14:01.64 A word synonymous to fun would be enjoyment. 00:14:01.67\00:14:03.44 And God has no problem with His people enjoying, 00:14:03.47\00:14:06.98 you know, these are terms 00:14:07.01\00:14:08.34 that you can even find in scripture 00:14:08.38\00:14:10.15 of enjoying the fruit of your labor 00:14:10.18\00:14:12.51 or enjoying certain things 00:14:12.55\00:14:14.22 that God has given us the privilege to enjoy, 00:14:14.25\00:14:16.28 you know, so God is not against enjoyment 00:14:16.32\00:14:18.52 but the question is how. 00:14:18.55\00:14:20.02 So now we're going to look at recreation 00:14:20.06\00:14:21.89 from a Christian standpoint 00:14:21.92\00:14:23.59 which is the biblical standpoint. 00:14:23.63\00:14:25.39 And we're gonna again see 00:14:25.43\00:14:26.76 that there are some differences. 00:14:26.80\00:14:28.63 An example, Romans 14. 00:14:28.66\00:14:30.43 All right. 00:14:30.47\00:14:31.80 If we go to Romans 14:22 and 23, here's a principle. 00:14:31.83\00:14:36.71 And this is what we're doing, we're looking at principles 00:14:36.74\00:14:38.61 because, you know, the Bible is filled 00:14:38.64\00:14:40.21 with accounts of stories of things 00:14:40.24\00:14:42.01 that happened for real in people's lives. 00:14:42.04\00:14:44.15 But in those stories, we can also pull principles 00:14:44.18\00:14:47.48 that we can make applicable to our day. 00:14:47.52\00:14:49.28 It's kind of like somebody saying, 00:14:49.32\00:14:52.02 "Is God for smoking weed, or is He against it?" 00:14:52.05\00:14:54.92 Well, if you search the Bible just for what it says, 00:14:54.96\00:14:57.26 you're not going to find weed in the Bible, 00:14:57.29\00:14:59.26 you're not going to find that 00:14:59.29\00:15:00.63 but you can find principles that says 00:15:00.66\00:15:04.00 1 Corinthians 3:15-17 where the Bible says, 00:15:04.03\00:15:06.74 "Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost 00:15:06.77\00:15:08.80 and whosoever destroys God's temple, 00:15:08.84\00:15:12.64 God Himself will destroy it." Right. 00:15:12.67\00:15:14.11 So God makes it clear, 00:15:14.14\00:15:15.48 He expects us to take care of our bodies. 00:15:15.51\00:15:17.08 And when I test marijuana, when I test weed, 00:15:17.11\00:15:19.81 I don't care how much they boast 00:15:19.85\00:15:21.25 that it's a natural plant, 00:15:21.28\00:15:22.62 the problem is when you light a fire to it, 00:15:22.65\00:15:24.55 it becomes a toxin. 00:15:24.59\00:15:25.92 And then it goes in our system and it produces toxicity 00:15:25.95\00:15:28.76 within our system which can manifest itself 00:15:28.79\00:15:30.93 in several ways even all the way up to cancer. 00:15:30.96\00:15:33.50 So I can take that principle now 00:15:33.53\00:15:35.90 and I can look at the smoking indulgence of weed 00:15:35.93\00:15:38.37 and say, "No, I am not going to let this 00:15:38.40\00:15:40.84 be part of my recreation." 00:15:40.87\00:15:42.84 Well, we're going to look at a principle 00:15:42.87\00:15:44.44 from the Book of Romans 14. 00:15:44.47\00:15:46.31 Paul was dealing with individuals 00:15:46.34\00:15:47.84 who were consuming foods 00:15:47.88\00:15:49.38 and judging others over these issues 00:15:49.41\00:15:51.28 and what have you, 00:15:51.31\00:15:52.65 but then he closes on something in verses 22 and 23 like this. 00:15:52.68\00:15:56.32 He says, "Has thou faith? 00:15:56.35\00:15:58.65 Have it to thyself before God. 00:15:58.69\00:16:01.12 Happy is he that condemneth not himself 00:16:01.16\00:16:04.49 in that thing which he allows. 00:16:04.53\00:16:06.96 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, 00:16:07.00\00:16:10.00 because he eateth not of faith, 00:16:10.03\00:16:11.83 for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." 00:16:11.87\00:16:15.14 The principle that Paul is bringing out here 00:16:15.17\00:16:17.51 is that if you are doing something 00:16:17.54\00:16:20.18 that you know is violating your conscience, 00:16:20.21\00:16:23.88 then Paul is saying then you ought not do it 00:16:23.91\00:16:26.08 because you are sinning against yourself, 00:16:26.11\00:16:27.88 and you are sinning against God who stimulated your conscience. 00:16:27.92\00:16:31.19 And if you could, I just didn't wanna interject. 00:16:31.22\00:16:33.12 Sure. 00:16:33.15\00:16:34.49 It reminds me of a story that you've told me before, 00:16:34.52\00:16:36.59 if you could do without mentioning names 00:16:36.62\00:16:38.49 where a particular artist was witnessing something 00:16:38.53\00:16:42.00 that was violating their conscience 00:16:42.03\00:16:43.40 and they were in tears because of it. 00:16:43.43\00:16:44.77 Oh, yes. 00:16:44.80\00:16:46.37 I was in London 00:16:46.40\00:16:47.74 and this is when I was dancing 00:16:47.77\00:16:49.10 and there was a particular artist 00:16:49.14\00:16:51.31 that, you know, she was absolutely exploding 00:16:51.34\00:16:55.94 in the entertainment industry, specially the R&B industry. 00:16:55.98\00:16:59.31 And she was a very sweet young lady 00:16:59.35\00:17:01.25 and I was one of her dancers and choreographers. 00:17:01.28\00:17:03.42 And when we were in London, 00:17:03.45\00:17:04.99 she was working with another artist 00:17:05.02\00:17:07.46 that was also very famous. 00:17:07.49\00:17:09.62 And I remember that the really famous artist was on stage, 00:17:09.66\00:17:14.96 singing one of his songs that was like, 00:17:15.00\00:17:16.93 they call it a love song but it really was a lust song. 00:17:16.97\00:17:19.57 And as he was singing this, 00:17:19.60\00:17:21.74 he acted out the words of the song 00:17:21.77\00:17:24.57 on one of the female dancers. 00:17:24.61\00:17:26.57 So when the artist that I was working for, 00:17:26.61\00:17:30.45 when she saw that, 00:17:30.48\00:17:32.18 she was running back to the room 00:17:32.21\00:17:34.18 where we all were 00:17:34.22\00:17:35.55 and she was just crying and crying and crying. 00:17:35.58\00:17:39.09 And we were like, "What's wrong? 00:17:39.12\00:17:40.46 What's wrong?" 00:17:40.49\00:17:41.82 And she said, "I can't believe 00:17:41.86\00:17:43.83 that a woman would degrade herself like that 00:17:43.86\00:17:47.30 and allow some man to rub on her 00:17:47.33\00:17:50.00 and do all these things to her and all these things." 00:17:50.03\00:17:52.10 And you know, and she was a Christian. 00:17:52.13\00:17:53.87 She actually professed that very clearly, 00:17:53.90\00:17:55.97 her mother was a manager 00:17:56.00\00:17:57.34 and her mother was professing Christianity. 00:17:57.37\00:17:59.51 And, you know, she was insulted 00:17:59.54\00:18:03.35 by what she saw. 00:18:03.38\00:18:04.75 The sad thing though is that as she got more famous 00:18:04.78\00:18:09.62 and began to really "blow up" in the entertainment industry, 00:18:09.65\00:18:13.69 the very things 00:18:13.72\00:18:15.06 that she's found to be so degrading at one stage, 00:18:15.09\00:18:17.79 it is apparent that her own conscience 00:18:17.83\00:18:19.46 had become violated 00:18:19.49\00:18:20.83 because now she was doing those very same things 00:18:20.86\00:18:22.70 in her other music videos. 00:18:22.73\00:18:24.67 So people violate their conscience all the time. 00:18:24.70\00:18:27.04 There are things that you know in your mind, "This is wrong. 00:18:27.07\00:18:30.81 God says this is wrong." 00:18:30.84\00:18:32.74 But you know what, everybody else is doing it 00:18:32.77\00:18:35.14 and this is something that "is for enjoyment or fun", 00:18:35.18\00:18:38.78 so let me go ahead and violate my conscience and do it anyhow. 00:18:38.81\00:18:41.68 Yeah, you get desensitized. 00:18:41.72\00:18:43.49 That's right, and you can get desensitized. 00:18:43.52\00:18:45.05 That's real. 00:18:45.09\00:18:46.42 So because of that, the Bible says 00:18:46.45\00:18:48.22 if you know that it is wrong 00:18:48.26\00:18:51.39 and your conscience is convinced that 00:18:51.43\00:18:53.36 this is something that is not right, 00:18:53.40\00:18:55.13 then you should not participate in it. 00:18:55.16\00:18:57.00 So this is one application that we can look at now 00:18:57.03\00:18:59.67 when it comes to the idea of safely having fun. 00:18:59.70\00:19:02.87 Whatever you're going to call fun, 00:19:02.90\00:19:04.71 whatever you want to call entertainment or enjoyment, 00:19:04.74\00:19:07.38 the question is, is this something 00:19:07.41\00:19:10.05 that you know is wrong 00:19:10.08\00:19:12.38 but you're going to go ahead and do it anyhow? 00:19:12.41\00:19:13.92 And I have a question here. 00:19:13.95\00:19:16.18 Where does that information come from? 00:19:16.22\00:19:18.75 In other words, where does the idea 00:19:18.79\00:19:21.02 that this is wrong or that, 00:19:21.06\00:19:23.12 you know, how do I even get the impulse 00:19:23.16\00:19:25.36 that thought in the mind that, "Man, this is wrong," 00:19:25.39\00:19:28.26 and the thing that we call conscience, 00:19:28.30\00:19:30.50 where does that conviction come from? 00:19:30.53\00:19:31.93 Perfect. 00:19:31.97\00:19:33.30 That is going to come 00:19:33.34\00:19:34.67 from an understanding of God and His word 00:19:34.70\00:19:36.44 if you're going to do it right. 00:19:36.47\00:19:37.81 And the reason why that's important 00:19:37.84\00:19:39.17 is because the Bible makes something clear in Matthew 7. 00:19:39.21\00:19:41.18 It was a very interesting statement Jesus said. 00:19:41.21\00:19:43.48 Jesus says, "A day is going to come 00:19:43.51\00:19:44.91 that many are going to say, 'Lord, Lord unto Him.' 00:19:44.95\00:19:47.28 And they're going to act like they know Him 00:19:47.32\00:19:48.65 but Jesus in the end is going to say, 00:19:48.68\00:19:50.19 'Depart from Me, you workers of iniquity. 00:19:50.22\00:19:52.15 I know you not."' 00:19:52.19\00:19:53.52 Well, what was the reason why? 00:19:53.56\00:19:54.89 In Matthew 7:21, it tells us very clearly. 00:19:54.92\00:19:57.99 In fact, I think I should go ahead and read it. 00:19:58.03\00:19:59.66 All right. It says in Matthew 7:21. 00:19:59.69\00:20:02.16 These are the words of Christ and this is an important point. 00:20:02.20\00:20:05.50 It says not everyone that saith unto me, 00:20:05.53\00:20:08.07 Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, 00:20:08.10\00:20:10.51 but he that doeth the will of My Father 00:20:10.54\00:20:14.54 which is in heaven." 00:20:14.58\00:20:15.91 So notice that, what Christ wants 00:20:15.94\00:20:18.25 is for individuals to understand the Father's will. 00:20:18.28\00:20:21.55 And then once we understand the Father's will 00:20:21.58\00:20:23.55 and comply with the Father's will, 00:20:23.59\00:20:25.45 those are the ones who actually make it to heaven, 00:20:25.49\00:20:27.09 when there's going to be a lot of professors that don't. 00:20:27.12\00:20:29.92 Well, what is God's will? 00:20:29.96\00:20:32.09 1 Thessalonians 4:3. 00:20:32.13\00:20:34.43 The Bible says, "This is the will of God, 00:20:34.46\00:20:38.20 even your sanctification." 00:20:38.23\00:20:40.87 So God wants us to be sanctified 00:20:40.90\00:20:44.27 which is to be holy, 00:20:44.31\00:20:45.64 to be holy people as He is holy. 00:20:45.67\00:20:47.88 Well, how am I sanctified? 00:20:47.91\00:20:50.55 John 17:17, "Sanctify them through thy truth, 00:20:50.58\00:20:55.48 thy word is truth." 00:20:55.52\00:20:57.99 So if I want to live a life 00:20:58.02\00:21:00.42 where I don't violate my conscience 00:21:00.46\00:21:03.12 based on the principles of life that God has given to me, 00:21:03.16\00:21:06.73 I can only find that out through the study of His word 00:21:06.76\00:21:08.93 and through the application of His word. 00:21:08.96\00:21:10.47 So this is how that information can come to us 00:21:10.50\00:21:13.10 that we can know, truly right from wrong, 00:21:13.13\00:21:15.87 and then be able to follow what's right. 00:21:15.90\00:21:17.67 And I think, there's another layer to that as well 00:21:17.71\00:21:20.18 because we remember times in our lives 00:21:20.21\00:21:22.94 where we had no knowledge of the Word of God 00:21:22.98\00:21:25.65 and yet we knew that this was wrong. 00:21:25.68\00:21:29.18 Without anybody... 00:21:29.22\00:21:30.55 In my upbringing, there was no church, 00:21:30.59\00:21:32.49 there's no prayer, there's no, 00:21:32.52\00:21:33.99 you know, moral guidelines per se. 00:21:34.02\00:21:36.59 But yet, there were things that I did, 00:21:36.62\00:21:38.39 you know, I quit drinking alcohol 00:21:38.43\00:21:40.63 before I ever studied the Bible 00:21:40.66\00:21:42.26 because I knew there was something about it 00:21:42.30\00:21:44.07 that I knew I had to stop. 00:21:44.10\00:21:45.47 You know, I quit smoking weed before I started, 00:21:45.50\00:21:47.47 I quit smoking cigarettes 00:21:47.50\00:21:48.84 before I ever knew 00:21:48.87\00:21:50.21 that my body was a temple of the Holy Spirit. 00:21:50.24\00:21:51.57 So you know, some of these things that come, 00:21:51.61\00:21:54.88 you know, how does that work? 00:21:54.91\00:21:56.24 Because there's clearly some moral, 00:21:56.28\00:21:59.61 you know, guidelines that are almost downloaded to humanity 00:21:59.65\00:22:04.39 without cultural, you know, input. 00:22:04.42\00:22:07.66 And so, you know, talk about that a little bit? 00:22:07.69\00:22:09.52 So when you're saying... 00:22:09.56\00:22:10.89 I want to make sure I understand the question. 00:22:10.93\00:22:12.26 So when you're saying, 00:22:12.29\00:22:13.63 like from an impulsive standpoint, like... 00:22:13.66\00:22:15.93 Just the idea that this is wrong 00:22:15.96\00:22:17.50 even though I have no knowledge of God's Word. 00:22:17.53\00:22:20.27 Something in my brain says, "Don't do this or refrain, 00:22:20.30\00:22:23.64 this is wrong." 00:22:23.67\00:22:25.01 Well, there are ways that that can happen. 00:22:25.04\00:22:26.37 There is an account in the Bible in Romans 2 00:22:26.41\00:22:28.91 where the Apostle Paul 00:22:28.94\00:22:30.28 was doing a little bit of comparative 00:22:30.31\00:22:32.35 between his Jewish brothers and the gentiles. 00:22:32.38\00:22:34.58 And the Jewish brothers were actually judging the gentiles. 00:22:34.62\00:22:37.15 They were actually putting them down and saying, 00:22:37.19\00:22:38.65 "Oh, they are heathens," and all these other things. 00:22:38.69\00:22:41.12 And then Paul, kind of, reasons with them on that. 00:22:41.16\00:22:43.06 In fact, Paul you know, I would pretty much say 00:22:43.09\00:22:45.33 Paul was giving them a spanking. 00:22:45.36\00:22:46.70 I mean, Paul was literally rebuking his own brothers 00:22:46.73\00:22:49.46 and saying, "How could you have this attitude 00:22:49.50\00:22:50.83 towards the gentile believers?" 00:22:50.87\00:22:52.57 And he's now imparting education, 00:22:52.60\00:22:54.84 he's making them think which is always wonderful. 00:22:54.87\00:22:57.01 Yeah. And here's some things he says. 00:22:57.04\00:22:59.07 Paul says, "For not the hearers of the law," 00:22:59.11\00:23:02.01 this is Romans 2:13 by the way, 00:23:02.04\00:23:04.88 "For not the hearers of the law are just before God 00:23:04.91\00:23:07.08 but the doers of the law shall be justified. 00:23:07.12\00:23:09.08 For when the gentiles which have not the law, 00:23:09.12\00:23:13.59 do by nature the things contained in the law, 00:23:13.62\00:23:18.16 these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves 00:23:18.19\00:23:22.06 which show the work of the law written in their hearts, 00:23:22.10\00:23:26.84 their conscience also bearing witness, 00:23:26.87\00:23:29.70 and their thoughts the mean while accusing 00:23:29.74\00:23:32.37 or else excusing one another." 00:23:32.41\00:23:34.94 So the Bible is actually showing that 00:23:34.98\00:23:36.61 God has ways of impressing upon the heart, 00:23:36.64\00:23:40.05 right from wrong, even to individuals 00:23:40.08\00:23:42.22 that may not have been exposed to scripture yet. 00:23:42.25\00:23:44.89 They may not have been exposed to the word yet. 00:23:44.92\00:23:47.29 And that's why... And I remember this. 00:23:47.32\00:23:48.92 You mentioned a really powerful point. 00:23:48.96\00:23:51.06 You said desensitizing. 00:23:51.09\00:23:52.56 That's a good point because I can remember 00:23:52.59\00:23:55.03 the first time I saw someone get shot. 00:23:55.06\00:23:58.67 And when I saw somebody get shot, 00:23:58.70\00:24:00.44 I couldn't sleep for a period of nights. 00:24:00.47\00:24:02.87 I mean, it messed with my head 00:24:02.90\00:24:04.87 because there was something in me, 00:24:04.91\00:24:06.57 even though I grew up in a fairly irreligious home. 00:24:06.61\00:24:08.41 My mother, you know, 00:24:08.44\00:24:09.78 she was the daughter of a Methodist pastor 00:24:09.81\00:24:11.68 but she didn't really bring a lot of religion in the home. 00:24:11.71\00:24:14.68 She just tried to bring good virtues. 00:24:14.72\00:24:16.58 Dad was definitely not religious at all. 00:24:16.62\00:24:18.85 But in either case, I didn't grow up in a church, 00:24:18.89\00:24:21.39 really understanding the commandments 00:24:21.42\00:24:22.82 or any of these things. 00:24:22.86\00:24:24.19 We didn't study the Bible, we didn't have worship, 00:24:24.23\00:24:25.76 we didn't go to church. 00:24:25.79\00:24:27.13 But yet, when I saw that person get shot 00:24:27.16\00:24:31.10 and you see him laying dead stiff 00:24:31.13\00:24:34.20 with a bullet hole in his eye, 00:24:34.24\00:24:35.57 when I saw that, that messed with my head. 00:24:35.60\00:24:37.51 I mean, I was hurt by what I saw. 00:24:37.54\00:24:40.61 There was something in my mind that said, "This is wrong. 00:24:40.64\00:24:43.55 This is wrong, killing people is wrong." 00:24:43.58\00:24:45.98 And this is before I understood "Thou shalt not kill." 00:24:46.01\00:24:49.15 But if I keep watching the bloodshed, 00:24:49.18\00:24:51.09 if I keep seeing more and more people get shot, 00:24:51.12\00:24:53.15 after a while, that's exactly what happened. 00:24:53.19\00:24:55.26 I go to a party, somebody gets gunned down 00:24:55.29\00:24:57.46 and I look at it and say, "Oh, man, that's messed up. 00:24:57.49\00:25:00.06 Guys, let's go get something to eat..." 00:25:00.10\00:25:01.43 And you're ready to just keep it moving or going on. 00:25:01.46\00:25:03.67 And that is the desensitization process. 00:25:03.70\00:25:06.00 But here it is that Romans 2 is telling us, 00:25:06.03\00:25:08.04 God has a way of impressing the principles of His law 00:25:08.07\00:25:11.91 and reaching our hearts and helping us see 00:25:11.94\00:25:15.14 that even though 00:25:15.18\00:25:16.54 I wasn't necessarily taught that it was wrong, 00:25:16.58\00:25:18.91 God is teaching me through this experience. 00:25:18.95\00:25:22.38 And that reminds me of a verse 00:25:22.42\00:25:23.99 if you can read it for us in John 16. 00:25:24.02\00:25:26.09 Yes. 00:25:26.12\00:25:27.46 Because God is informing humanity 00:25:27.49\00:25:30.06 even if they don't fully understand His Word. 00:25:30.09\00:25:32.13 In other words, He's drawing men to Himself, 00:25:32.16\00:25:34.36 He's drawing men to His Word. 00:25:34.40\00:25:36.06 But it talks about the role 00:25:36.10\00:25:38.37 that the Holy Ghost plays 00:25:38.40\00:25:40.64 in giving this conviction, this conscience, 00:25:40.67\00:25:43.51 this idea of morality. 00:25:43.54\00:25:44.87 That's right, it is found in John 16. 00:25:44.91\00:25:46.61 And we're gonna look at verses 7 and onward. 00:25:46.64\00:25:49.44 It says, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. 00:25:49.48\00:25:52.38 It is expedient for you that I go away. 00:25:52.41\00:25:54.95 For if I go not away, 00:25:54.98\00:25:56.85 the Comforter will not come unto you. 00:25:56.89\00:25:58.95 But if I depart, I will send Him unto you. 00:25:58.99\00:26:01.59 And when He is come, 00:26:01.62\00:26:03.12 He will reprove the world of sin 00:26:03.16\00:26:06.56 and of righteousness and of judgment." 00:26:06.59\00:26:10.27 The Spirit of God is working upon the heart 00:26:10.30\00:26:13.50 and impressing upon the heart, 00:26:13.54\00:26:15.44 right from wrong, leading us to Christ. 00:26:15.47\00:26:18.37 And then ultimately 00:26:18.41\00:26:19.74 when we get the revelation of Christ, 00:26:19.77\00:26:21.11 we now can study the Word and go deeper 00:26:21.14\00:26:22.54 and receive what God wants to give. 00:26:22.58\00:26:24.58 These are the things that the Lord wants to teach us. 00:26:24.61\00:26:26.72 Well, I know that we've gotten to a point, my friends, 00:26:26.75\00:26:28.85 where we're studying the Word of God, 00:26:28.88\00:26:30.52 we're looking at what God says. 00:26:30.55\00:26:32.05 We are trying to compare 00:26:32.09\00:26:35.06 the open idea of safely having fun 00:26:35.09\00:26:37.63 was left to our own interpretation 00:26:37.66\00:26:39.93 versus the concept of God's Word 00:26:39.96\00:26:42.66 that literally does not give us open or private interpretation 00:26:42.70\00:26:45.80 but God is expressing His will. 00:26:45.83\00:26:47.94 We just looked at one principle which is simply this. 00:26:47.97\00:26:51.01 If you know, 00:26:51.04\00:26:53.21 if somehow you have been convicted of things 00:26:53.24\00:26:55.64 that you can see are wrong 00:26:55.68\00:26:58.25 and you can clearly say, "I know that this is wrong. 00:26:58.28\00:27:00.58 I know this is not right," 00:27:00.62\00:27:02.18 then you and I have a responsibility 00:27:02.22\00:27:05.02 to not violate our conscience 00:27:05.05\00:27:07.02 and simply go ahead and do that entertaining thing 00:27:07.06\00:27:09.56 whatever it may be. 00:27:09.59\00:27:10.93 God says we need to make sure that we can always consider 00:27:10.96\00:27:15.06 what He has been impressing on our hearts, 00:27:15.10\00:27:17.83 and certainly revealed through His Word 00:27:17.87\00:27:19.73 of what constitutes right and wrong. 00:27:19.77\00:27:21.67 And then when we go out even for "enjoyment", 00:27:21.70\00:27:25.21 we are to make sure 00:27:25.24\00:27:26.57 that whatever enjoyment we get involved in, 00:27:26.61\00:27:28.58 that it must not violate that principle 00:27:28.61\00:27:31.75 that we have been taught. 00:27:31.78\00:27:33.11 Do not violate your conscience. 00:27:33.15\00:27:35.58 This is just one example among several, 00:27:35.62\00:27:37.79 and we just got started on this. 00:27:37.82\00:27:39.22 I can't wait till our next episode 00:27:39.25\00:27:40.89 where we're going to dig even deeper 00:27:40.92\00:27:42.66 into some more principles 00:27:42.69\00:27:44.46 of what God gives of true recreation 00:27:44.49\00:27:48.00 versus wreck the creation. 00:27:48.03\00:27:50.10 So until then, just continue to tell a friend, 00:27:50.13\00:27:52.30 continue to study, 00:27:52.33\00:27:53.67 continue to pray and seek the Lord's will. 00:27:53.70\00:27:55.67 And until that time we see you again, 00:27:55.70\00:27:57.67 and remember the words of Proverbs 2:6 which tells us, 00:27:57.71\00:28:01.74 "It is the Lord that gives us wisdom 00:28:01.78\00:28:04.88 and out of his mouth 00:28:04.91\00:28:06.41 comes knowledge and understanding." 00:28:06.45\00:28:08.58 God bless you. 00:28:08.62\00:28:09.95
