Planet earth is filled with the dazzling diversity of life 00:00:28.59\00:00:33.26 but few animals can compare with the extinct dinosaurs 00:00:33.29\00:00:38.07 for variety, size, and sheer magnificence. 00:00:38.10\00:00:42.44 They roamed the earth away back in the ancient past 00:00:42.47\00:00:45.91 and came in an incredible range of shapes and sizes. 00:00:45.94\00:00:50.65 Some of the ancient creatures had enormous bodies 00:00:50.68\00:00:54.68 and were the most colossal creatures ever to have lived 00:00:54.72\00:00:58.25 on land while others were only the size of chickens. 00:00:58.29\00:01:02.29 Some were fierce and had sharp claws and razor teeth 00:01:02.32\00:01:06.93 while others were harmless and docile. 00:01:06.96\00:01:10.33 Many of them had spikes, horns and plates and were the 00:01:10.37\00:01:15.80 weirdest animals ever to walk on earth. 00:01:15.84\00:01:18.47 Some were agile and could run very fast while others 00:01:18.51\00:01:23.68 were ponderers, slow-moving and awkward. 00:01:23.71\00:01:27.42 Dinosaurs lived on all seven continents, yes, even 00:01:27.45\00:01:33.76 Antarctica. But how much do we really know about these amazing 00:01:33.79\00:01:40.20 creatures? How and where did they live? Why did they die out? 00:01:40.23\00:01:45.23 And what do their fossil traces tell us? 00:01:45.27\00:01:48.20 Join me on the dinosaur trail as we search for answers, 00:01:48.24\00:01:54.18 we'll travel back in time and get up close and personal 00:01:54.21\00:01:58.75 with the biggest, fastest, fiercest, and strangest 00:01:58.78\00:02:03.89 creatures that ever roamed the earth. 00:02:03.92\00:02:06.65 Dinosaurs once roamed the earth in large numbers 00:02:23.34\00:02:26.98 and though they are now extinct these creatures continue to 00:02:27.01\00:02:31.45 captivate the imagination of people young and old 00:02:31.48\00:02:35.12 around the world. 00:02:35.15\00:02:36.48 But what exactly is a dinosaur? Well, to begin with 00:02:36.52\00:02:42.22 they're reptiles and these ancient reptiles lived on land 00:02:42.26\00:02:46.39 in contrast to other ancient reptiles like Plesiosaurs 00:02:46.43\00:02:51.30 that were water reptiles and Pterosaurs that were 00:02:51.33\00:02:55.54 flying reptiles. And the feature that distinguishes 00:02:55.57\00:02:59.37 dinosaurs from these other reptiles is a hole in the 00:02:59.41\00:03:02.81 hip socket which allowed dinosaurs to walk upright 00:03:02.84\00:03:06.88 with their limbs directly underneath their body's. 00:03:06.92\00:03:09.55 Dinosaurs have huge long tails that didn't touch the ground, 00:03:09.58\00:03:15.09 they had scales, they laid eggs and built nests, 00:03:15.12\00:03:19.03 so all dinosaurs hatched from eggs. 00:03:19.06\00:03:22.70 Although they had these features in common dinosaurs also 00:03:22.73\00:03:26.87 had lots of differences that made each species unique too. 00:03:26.90\00:03:31.14 There were over 1,000 different species of dinosaurs and they 00:03:31.17\00:03:36.71 came in all kinds of shapes and sizes. 00:03:36.75\00:03:38.81 The tallest dinosaur known was Sauroposeidon 00:03:38.85\00:03:43.55 a herbivore that walked on four legs and grew up to 00:03:43.59\00:03:47.82 18 meters or 60 feet tall which is the same height as 00:03:47.86\00:03:52.56 three giraffes standing on top of one another. 00:03:52.59\00:03:55.66 In contrast, one of the smallest dinosaurs ever found was 00:03:55.70\00:04:01.20 Microraptors that was discovered in China and was about the size 00:04:01.24\00:04:05.47 of a pigeon, it only weighed about one kilo or two pounds 00:04:05.51\00:04:09.54 and fed on insects. 00:04:09.58\00:04:11.25 One of the fastest dinosaurs was Gallimimus which could 00:04:11.28\00:04:16.48 run at a rate of over 70 kilometers or 43 MPH, 00:04:16.52\00:04:21.16 about as fast as a cheetah, the fastest land animal alive today. 00:04:21.19\00:04:25.89 The dinosaur with the best armor was probably Ankylosaurs 00:04:25.93\00:04:32.40 these herbivores' weighed about five tons and were up to 00:04:32.43\00:04:36.77 10 meters or 33 feet long but couldn't move much faster 00:04:36.81\00:04:41.51 than a human could walk. They had super tough-plated 00:04:41.54\00:04:45.25 skin covered with spikes and a club tail which helped him 00:04:45.31\00:04:49.95 to defense against hunters. 00:04:49.98\00:04:51.69 If a predator attacked the low and heavy reptile 00:04:51.72\00:04:55.82 would swing its tail that was made up of seven bones 00:04:55.86\00:05:00.00 fused together in a hard and heavy mass like a club with 00:05:00.03\00:05:04.67 enough force to break the attackers bones, 00:05:04.70\00:05:07.94 other dinosaurs had their own unique defense apparatus. 00:05:07.97\00:05:12.37 The Triceratops for example, had three impressive horns 00:05:12.64\00:05:16.85 jutting out of its face and huge solid curved head plate 00:05:16.88\00:05:22.12 or frill, it was probably the most spectacular horned dinosaur 00:05:22.15\00:05:26.55 of all time. Although it appeared dangerous Triceratops 00:05:26.59\00:05:32.23 was actually a slow-moving herbivore that used its 00:05:32.26\00:05:36.00 beaklike jaw and slicing teeth to pluck and chew plants 00:05:36.03\00:05:40.30 but it sure needed its horns and fierce appearance 00:05:40.34\00:05:43.54 because it lived in Tyrannosaurus Rex territory 00:05:43.57\00:05:47.91 and that's not the kind of neighbor you want to have 00:05:47.94\00:05:51.41 living nearby. 00:05:51.45\00:05:52.78 Tyrannosaurus Rex whose name means king of the 00:05:52.81\00:05:57.15 tyrant lizards but is popularly know today as T-rex 00:05:57.19\00:06:01.46 was probably the fiercest and most powerful land predator 00:06:01.49\00:06:05.26 that has ever lived. 00:06:05.29\00:06:06.90 It was a massively built killer, 3 and 1/2 meters or 12 feet tall 00:06:06.93\00:06:12.87 13 meters of 43 feet long and weighing about 9 tons. 00:06:12.90\00:06:17.87 It had strong legs and thigh muscles for charging into attack 00:06:17.91\00:06:22.78 with lethal speed. It had terrifying long bone-crushing 00:06:22.81\00:06:27.38 teeth, powerful jaws, and eye- sight as sharp as an eagle's. 00:06:27.42\00:06:32.42 They often traveled in small groups of four or five adults. 00:06:32.45\00:06:37.73 They roamed through a wide variety of habitat 00:06:37.76\00:06:41.00 but it was on the plains and along the river valley's 00:06:41.03\00:06:44.40 that the T-rex family focused their attention. 00:06:44.43\00:06:47.44 They were the deadly enemy of so many animals 00:06:47.57\00:06:50.84 but in particular a veracious predator of Triceratops 00:06:50.87\00:06:55.88 and the smaller Einiosaurus 00:06:55.91\00:06:58.88 Using their keen power of scent that could predict prey 00:06:58.91\00:07:03.02 six kilometers or four miles away, the T-rex began to 00:07:03.05\00:07:06.99 stalk their prey, a herd of Einiosaurus who were peacefully 00:07:07.02\00:07:11.33 grazing in an open field in the river valley. 00:07:11.36\00:07:14.63 But attacking a horn creature like an Einiosaurus was laced 00:07:14.66\00:07:19.47 with danger as they were no soft target, they had 00:07:19.50\00:07:23.51 vicious horns that were lethal weapons that could stab 00:07:23.54\00:07:27.64 and severely wound and they certainly knew how to use them. 00:07:27.68\00:07:31.11 If a hunter puts a foot wrong, the next few minutes 00:07:31.15\00:07:35.18 could be his last, just how the hunt ended we'll never know. 00:07:35.22\00:07:40.96 The age of the dinosaurs ended abruptly when a huge cataclysm 00:07:40.99\00:07:46.46 killed off the dinosaurs and resulted in a mass extinction. 00:07:46.49\00:07:50.57 But thanks to modern science, we know a lot about the 00:07:50.60\00:07:54.44 dinosaurs that used to roam earth. 00:07:54.47\00:07:58.01 So, how do scientists know so much about dinosaurs today? 00:07:58.04\00:08:03.75 I mean they've been extinct a long time ago. 00:08:03.78\00:08:06.58 Nobody can see a dinosaur today they can't observe them in the 00:08:06.61\00:08:11.22 wild like they do with modern animals. 00:08:11.25\00:08:13.76 No, instead they rely upon what dinosaurs left behind 00:08:13.79\00:08:20.43 their bones, fossils. Scientists study dinosaurs bones and 00:08:20.46\00:08:26.80 other bodily material left behind in fossil graveyards 00:08:26.84\00:08:31.24 that have been discovered around the world. 00:08:31.27\00:08:33.54 Virtually everything we know about dinosaurs comes from 00:08:33.58\00:08:38.58 studying these fossils. 00:08:38.61\00:08:40.15 No one knows when the first dinosaur bone was found 00:08:40.18\00:08:45.02 ancient peoples most likely uncovered fossils of dinosaur 00:08:45.05\00:08:49.39 bones from time to time. 00:08:49.42\00:08:51.36 But they had no idea what they'd found, even early English 00:08:51.39\00:08:56.03 and European scientists weren't sure about the fossils 00:08:56.06\00:08:59.80 they found. For example in 1676 Robert Plot 00:08:59.83\00:09:06.04 a curator of an English museum discovered a huge thigh bone 00:09:06.07\00:09:10.11 in England, he believed it belonged to an ancient 00:09:10.15\00:09:12.98 species of human giants. 00:09:13.01\00:09:15.58 Only many years later was it determined that it belonged to 00:09:15.62\00:09:19.75 a dinosaur. In 1824, William Buckland, a British 00:09:19.79\00:09:24.86 fossil hunter and the first geology professor at 00:09:24.89\00:09:28.16 Oxford University was the first person to correctly identify 00:09:28.20\00:09:33.23 a dinosaur fossil for what it really was. 00:09:33.27\00:09:36.34 He wrote the world's first scientific description of a 00:09:36.37\00:09:40.24 fossil dinosaur which was named megalosaurus in 1827. 00:09:40.28\00:09:45.48 At this time the word dinosaur hadn't been invented yet, 00:09:45.51\00:09:51.42 the word had first been used by Richard Owen in 1842 00:09:51.45\00:09:55.69 he produced the term dinosaur from two Greek words 00:09:55.72\00:10:00.16 which means terrible lizards to describe these 00:10:00.20\00:10:03.47 distinct creatures which he recognized as significantly 00:10:03.50\00:10:07.50 different from today's reptiles. 00:10:07.54\00:10:10.01 Although the study of dinosaurs really got its start in 1842 00:10:10.04\00:10:15.81 there wasn't much available to study, in fact in 1860 00:10:15.84\00:10:21.12 just six types of dinosaurs were known. 00:10:21.15\00:10:23.65 But then people started finding spectacular dinosaur bones 00:10:23.69\00:10:28.32 in America. In the 1870's two dinosaur hunters 00:10:28.36\00:10:33.33 Edward Drinker Cope and Othneil Charles Marsh 00:10:33.36\00:10:37.37 started competing to find new fossils, 00:10:37.40\00:10:40.94 this became known as The Bone Wars. 00:10:40.97\00:10:44.44 By 1892 they had discovered more than 120 new species 00:10:44.47\00:10:50.35 of dinosaurs between them. 00:10:50.41\00:10:52.58 As the 1900s began, many scientists and universities 00:10:52.61\00:10:57.62 all over the world were inspired by The Bone Walls 00:10:57.65\00:11:01.22 and these new discoveries. They began to study and research 00:11:01.26\00:11:05.86 dinosaur fossils and so a whole new branch of this science 00:11:05.89\00:11:10.60 known as Paleontology began. 00:11:10.63\00:11:13.37 Now paleontology is the scientific study of fossils, 00:11:13.40\00:11:18.64 the remains of long-dead dinosaurs and other creatures 00:11:18.67\00:11:22.44 and the people who specialize in this field are called 00:11:22.48\00:11:27.15 Paleontologists, they're the detectives who examine 00:11:27.18\00:11:31.02 the evidence that dinosaurs and other extinct animals 00:11:31.05\00:11:34.72 left behind such as bones, teeth, footprints, tracks, 00:11:34.76\00:11:40.13 eggs, and skin impressions. 00:11:40.16\00:11:42.26 These fossil hunters gather and piece together the remains 00:11:42.30\00:11:47.54 of these extinct creatures to give us a glimpse of the past 00:11:47.57\00:11:51.91 and help us better understand life on earth. 00:11:51.94\00:11:55.51 And what's really exciting is that new fossil evidence 00:11:55.54\00:12:00.92 is being found all the time, virtually every day 00:12:00.95\00:12:04.75 brings a new dinosaur discovery, there's so much more 00:12:04.79\00:12:09.06 out there to discover. 00:12:09.09\00:12:11.09 But what have we learned what's already here from what we've 00:12:11.13\00:12:15.80 already discovered? 00:12:15.83\00:12:17.23 Well, we've seen that a wide variety and many species of 00:12:17.27\00:12:21.20 dinosaurs roamed widely across the world in large numbers. 00:12:21.24\00:12:26.01 We've also seen that these ancient creatures continue to 00:12:26.04\00:12:31.11 captivate the imagination of people young and old 00:12:31.15\00:12:34.75 but it's not just present-day people who are fascinated by 00:12:34.78\00:12:39.35 dinosaurs. Nearly all ancient civilization had stories or 00:12:39.39\00:12:44.89 art depicting giant reptiles and dinosaur-like creatures. 00:12:44.93\00:12:49.40 Petroglyph's or rock carvings, artifacts and even 00:12:49.43\00:12:54.30 little clay figures found in North America resemble 00:12:54.34\00:12:57.94 modern depictions of dinosaurs like the Anasazi dinosaur 00:12:57.97\00:13:02.51 Petroglyphs in Utah that looks strikingly like a brontosaurus. 00:13:02.54\00:13:07.38 Then across in Europe from the Roman Empire we have mosaics 00:13:07.42\00:13:12.85 like the Nile mosaic from Palestrina that shows 00:13:12.89\00:13:17.06 dinosaur-like creatures. 00:13:17.09\00:13:19.86 And in the Middle East, the ancient Egyptians produced the 00:13:19.89\00:13:23.97 Narmer Palette thousands of years ago that depicts 00:13:24.00\00:13:27.37 two dinosaur-like creatures with their long necks entwined 00:13:27.40\00:13:30.97 and it wasn't unique, the two dog palette displays something 00:13:31.01\00:13:35.28 similar, further east in Mesopotamia, present-day Iraq. 00:13:35.31\00:13:40.65 The Walls of ancient Babylon built around 600 BC depict 00:13:40.68\00:13:45.25 rows of curious long-legged dinosaur-like dragons 00:13:45.29\00:13:48.89 called Mushussu. Today many scholars believe the 00:13:49.19\00:13:53.66 Mushussu image and description appeared to best fit a 00:13:53.70\00:13:58.53 Sauropod dinosaur. 00:13:58.57\00:13:59.90 Across in Asia at Cambodia's Angkor Wat is a 12th-century 00:13:59.93\00:14:04.57 Hindu temple complex that later became a Buddhist Temple. 00:14:04.61\00:14:08.08 On one of the temples Ta Prohm is a clear depiction of a 00:14:08.11\00:14:14.48 living Stegosaurus, the carving is a side view of the animal 00:14:14.52\00:14:18.75 and shows a series of plates running down its back. 00:14:18.79\00:14:22.16 In much the same way we now know was present on the fossils 00:14:22.19\00:14:27.70 of Stegosaurus dinosaurs. There are literally hundreds 00:14:27.73\00:14:31.73 of these dinosaur-like depictions on the petroglyphs, 00:14:31.77\00:14:35.50 artifacts, carvings, and art of ancient civilizations 00:14:35.54\00:14:39.87 around the world. 00:14:39.91\00:14:41.24 Many people wonder about the ancient Hebrews and ask if 00:14:41.28\00:14:45.48 dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible. 00:14:45.51\00:14:49.28 Well, the word dinosaur isn't found anywhere in the Bible. 00:14:49.32\00:14:55.72 Now that shouldn't surprise us, because dinosaur is a relatively 00:14:55.76\00:15:01.80 new word, remember that it wasn't until 1842 that 00:15:01.83\00:15:07.20 Richard Owen even coined the word dinosaur and that was 00:15:07.24\00:15:11.61 thousands of years after most of the Bible was written. 00:15:11.64\00:15:15.78 So, since the word dinosaur didn't even exist when the Bible 00:15:15.81\00:15:20.38 was written, naturally you won't find that word in 00:15:20.42\00:15:23.92 the Bible. However though that term isn't in the Bible, 00:15:23.95\00:15:28.26 doesn't mean that the Bible does not refer to dinosaurs. 00:15:28.29\00:15:32.19 Now imagine that you had to find a word to describe a huge 00:15:32.23\00:15:37.73 dinosaur without actually using the term 00:15:37.77\00:15:40.87 dinosaur. What word would you use? How about dragon, 00:15:40.90\00:15:46.61 or monster? Well, those are the very words that the 00:15:46.64\00:15:51.08 Bible writers chose. The Bible uses the Hebrew word 00:15:51.11\00:15:55.65 Tanniyn to describe a mysterious creature resembling 00:15:55.68\00:16:00.16 a giant reptile, this creature appears 28 times in scripture 00:16:00.19\00:16:05.89 the scripture or Old Testament. 00:16:05.93\00:16:07.26 With English translations refer to it most often as a dragon 00:16:07.30\00:16:12.73 or a sea monster, the term applies to a water monster 00:16:12.77\00:16:17.67 as well as a land monster. 00:16:17.71\00:16:19.71 Many scholars believe that Bible writers used this 00:16:19.74\00:16:24.01 term Tanniyn to describe dinosaurs in the Bible. 00:16:24.05\00:16:28.45 but those aren't the only references to dinosaur-like 00:16:28.48\00:16:32.62 creatures in the Bible. 00:16:32.65\00:16:34.02 Dinosaurs seem to pop up through the Book of Job 00:16:34.06\00:16:37.89 which many believe is the oldest book in the Bible, 00:16:37.93\00:16:41.50 possibly written around 3 and 1/2 thousand years ago. 00:16:41.53\00:16:46.33 Job chapter 40 mentions a creature called a Behemoth 00:16:46.37\00:16:51.67 and it provides a lot of information about the creature. 00:16:51.71\00:16:55.44 Here are the details... 00:16:55.48\00:16:57.05 Here the Bible describes a huge creature that Job has seen. 00:17:19.90\00:17:25.47 It's a grass eater, that's very strong with great muscles, 00:17:25.51\00:17:29.64 it moves its tail which is like a huge Cedar Tree, 00:17:29.68\00:17:33.42 it's the first the chief, perhaps the largest and 00:17:33.45\00:17:38.42 strongest of God's creation. No present day animal fits this 00:17:38.45\00:17:43.63 description, but a giant plant-eating Sauropod would, 00:17:43.66\00:17:47.30 something like a Brachiosaurus or an Apatosaurus. 00:17:47.33\00:17:52.20 Then a little further on Job chapter 41 describes another 00:17:52.23\00:17:58.47 huge fearsome creature. 00:17:58.51\00:17:59.84 This time a sea creature, a sea monster. 00:17:59.87\00:18:03.31 Again details of the creature are mentioned. 00:18:03.35\00:18:06.61 Certainly no other creature living or extinct fits this 00:18:40.28\00:18:45.39 description better than a dinosaur. 00:18:45.42\00:18:48.32 Now dinosaurs were land creature but remember there were also 00:18:48.36\00:18:53.36 huge sea reptiles that live around the same time as 00:18:53.40\00:18:56.30 dinosaurs that are often grouped with them. 00:18:56.33\00:18:58.97 They were some of the most fearsome predators that 00:18:59.00\00:19:02.54 have ever existed. One group was the Plesiosaurs 00:19:02.57\00:19:07.44 true sea monsters with massively extensive jaws and one of these 00:19:07.48\00:19:13.72 huge water reptiles such as a Liopleurodon would certainly 00:19:13.75\00:19:18.29 fit the description in the Bible Book of Job. 00:19:18.32\00:19:21.19 The Bible also mentions other dinosaur-like creatures in 00:19:21.22\00:19:25.89 Genesis, Isaiah, and Psalms as well. 00:19:25.93\00:19:30.67 So, if the Bible does refer to dinosaurs, 00:19:30.70\00:19:33.94 where did they come from? And what happened to them? 00:19:33.97\00:19:37.64 Well, the Bible says that in the beginning God created all things 00:19:37.67\00:19:42.88 including this earth and every- thing in it. 00:19:42.91\00:19:45.85 He accomplished His creation in just six days, 00:19:45.88\00:19:49.78 all of the land animals were created on day six 00:19:49.82\00:19:54.46 along with the first people Adam and Eve. 00:19:54.49\00:19:56.99 This means that dinosaurs were created on the sixth day 00:19:57.03\00:20:01.23 of creation about 6,000 years ago. 00:20:01.26\00:20:04.47 Now, how do we know that? Well, God gives us a 00:20:04.50\00:20:08.40 comprehensive timeline right in the Bible itself. 00:20:08.44\00:20:12.27 In Genesis chapter 5, we see a list of Adam's descendants 00:20:12.31\00:20:17.85 up to Noah and how long they lived, then we can follow 00:20:17.88\00:20:21.78 more dates than the Bible gives us and measure 00:20:21.82\00:20:24.82 to the time of Abraham and on to Moses, and the Exodus, 00:20:24.85\00:20:28.66 King David, Solomon's Temple, the Babylonian Captivity, 00:20:28.69\00:20:33.53 and on to Jesus. 00:20:33.56\00:20:35.46 From there it's easy to follow on down to our time 00:20:35.50\00:20:40.27 and we see that the earth is around 6,000 years old, 00:20:40.30\00:20:44.17 the Bible provides a reliable timeline that provides a 00:20:44.21\00:20:48.94 framework through which we can interpret and understand 00:20:48.98\00:20:52.85 science and history. 00:20:52.88\00:20:54.42 The Bible tells us that the dinosaurs were originally 00:20:54.45\00:21:00.09 plant eaters like all the other creatures that God created 00:21:00.12\00:21:03.39 Here's what it says in Genesis Chapter 1 and verse 30. 00:21:03.43\00:21:07.96 After Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the 00:21:22.84\00:21:26.85 tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, sin entered the world 00:21:26.88\00:21:30.89 and some animals became carnivores or omnivores' 00:21:30.92\00:21:35.22 including many of the dinosaurs. 00:21:35.26\00:21:37.76 So, what happened to the dinosaurs? 00:21:37.79\00:21:41.06 Well, the Bible tells us that there was a great cataclysmic 00:21:41.10\00:21:49.40 flood that largely destroyed life on earth and only Noah, 00:21:49.44\00:21:54.68 his family and the animals that he brought with him 00:21:54.71\00:21:57.85 onto the large ship called the Ark survived. 00:21:57.88\00:22:01.98 Noah was commanded by God to bring two of every kind of 00:22:02.02\00:22:06.42 creature on the ark so he would have brought dinosaurs as well. 00:22:06.45\00:22:10.96 Now, you're probably wondering how Noah could possibly have 00:22:10.99\00:22:16.77 squeezed all those animals including large dinosaurs 00:22:16.80\00:22:20.74 on a boat well, there are several important facts 00:22:20.77\00:22:24.47 we need to remember. Firstly. 00:22:24.51\00:22:27.08 God instructed Noah to build a massive ship that could hold 00:22:27.11\00:22:31.95 not only the animals but also all the food they needed 00:22:31.98\00:22:35.68 along with Noah and his family. 00:22:35.72\00:22:38.05 Secondly. Noah could have taken younger and much smaller 00:22:38.09\00:22:43.12 dinosaurs on the ark so that they would be able to mature 00:22:43.16\00:22:47.20 and reproduce after the great flood. 00:22:47.23\00:22:49.86 Thirdly. It's not hard to conceive of dinosaurs 00:22:49.90\00:22:54.07 being on the ark when we remember that the average 00:22:54.10\00:22:57.37 size of a dinosaur was actually smaller than a cow. 00:22:57.41\00:23:01.44 So, what happened to the dinosaurs after the flood? 00:23:01.48\00:23:05.88 How do we account for their extinction? 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.82 Well, remember most of them would have perished 00:23:08.85\00:23:12.75 during cataclysmic worldwide flood and for those on the ark, 00:23:12.79\00:23:17.53 the earth they disembarked on after the flood was 00:23:17.56\00:23:21.76 very different from the one they knew before it. 00:23:21.80\00:23:24.40 The flood devastated the earth and made it a much more 00:23:24.43\00:23:29.20 difficult world to live in and survive. 00:23:29.24\00:23:32.31 Possibly they simply died out after the flood because 00:23:32.34\00:23:37.21 their population never grew large enough in the post-flood 00:23:37.25\00:23:41.05 world. There may have been major environmental change, 00:23:41.08\00:23:45.15 making it more difficult to find the right types of food 00:23:45.19\00:23:49.06 in sufficient quantities to sustain them. 00:23:49.09\00:23:51.76 Quite simply, it was quite difficult for the dinosaurs 00:23:51.79\00:23:56.63 to find enough food to survive. 00:23:56.67\00:23:59.77 Also, the great worldwide flood and all the water covering 00:23:59.80\00:24:04.77 the earth's surface would have changed the earth's climate 00:24:04.81\00:24:08.18 and since the dinosaurs were reptiles, it could have been 00:24:08.21\00:24:12.41 challenging for them to stay warm enough to live. 00:24:12.45\00:24:15.38 And then humans may have hunted dinosaurs to extinction for food 00:24:15.42\00:24:20.69 or sport, or self-defense. 00:24:20.72\00:24:22.92 The fact is that no one knows for sure what happened to the 00:24:22.96\00:24:28.53 dinosaurs, but we do know the dinosaurs and not the only 00:24:28.56\00:24:32.83 animals to become extinct. 00:24:32.87\00:24:34.50 Many animals over the years have died due to all sorts of 00:24:34.54\00:24:38.74 causes. Scientists tell us that thousands of species 00:24:38.77\00:24:43.55 have gone extinct in the past century alone. 00:24:43.58\00:24:46.72 So, we don't know for sure exactly when and why 00:24:46.75\00:24:51.09 dinosaurs went extinct, but we do know that it wasn't 00:24:51.12\00:24:55.69 too long ago because now there in archeological and scientific 00:24:55.72\00:25:00.10 evidence to demonstrate it. 00:25:00.13\00:25:02.13 Recently eminent paleontologist unexpected discovered 00:25:02.16\00:25:08.04 red blood cells, soft tissue, and proteins in dinosaur fossils 00:25:08.07\00:25:13.31 for the first time. 00:25:13.34\00:25:15.61 These cells and soft tissue could not possibly have 00:25:15.64\00:25:19.71 survived tens of hundreds of millions of years, 00:25:19.75\00:25:23.35 these things simply don't last that long. 00:25:23.39\00:25:26.15 But they do clearly fit a Biblical understanding 00:25:26.19\00:25:29.92 of a creation only 6,000 years ago. 00:25:29.96\00:25:34.00 These new discoveries contradict the evolutionary time schedule 00:25:34.03\00:25:40.80 of tens and hundreds of millions of years but provide immensely 00:25:40.84\00:25:45.14 powerful support for the proposition that dinosaur 00:25:45.17\00:25:49.44 fossils were mostly produced on the catastrophic conditions 00:25:49.48\00:25:53.21 a few thousand years ago at most. 00:25:53.25\00:25:56.12 So we see that the Biblical, Scientific, Archeological and 00:25:56.15\00:26:01.86 historical evidence all combined to help us better understand 00:26:01.89\00:26:07.13 dinosaurs and the world they lived in. 00:26:07.16\00:26:09.56 Yes, dinosaurs were awesome creatures yet the best thing 00:26:09.60\00:26:15.20 of about these incredible creatures is that they were 00:26:15.24\00:26:18.07 created by our majestic and all-powerful God. 00:26:18.11\00:26:22.11 If you'd like to know more about dinosaurs, and when and where 00:26:25.05\00:26:28.68 they came from, then I'd like to recommend the free gift 00:26:28.72\00:26:32.45 we have for all our Incredible Journey viewers today. 00:26:32.49\00:26:36.46 It's the booklet Dinosaurs and the Bible. 00:26:36.49\00:26:40.83 This booklet is our gift to you and is absolutely free, 00:26:40.86\00:26:45.23 I can assure you there are no obligations whatsoever 00:26:45.27\00:26:49.87 so make the most of this wonderful opportunity 00:26:49.90\00:26:53.41 to receive the free gift we have for you today. 00:26:53.44\00:26:57.15 Here's the information you need. 00:26:57.18\00:26:59.85 Phone or text 0436.333.555 in Australia or 020.422.2042 00:26:59.88\00:27:10.69 in New Zealand, or 770.800.0266 in the United States, 00:27:10.73\00:27:17.40 or visit our website tij.tv or simply scan the QR code 00:27:17.43\00:27:23.64 on your screen and we'll send you today's free offer 00:27:23.67\00:27:26.94 totally free of charge and with no obligation, you can also 00:27:26.98\00:27:31.05 write to us at the addresses on your screen or email us 00:27:31.08\00:27:35.35 at info@tij.tv.
