Jumble Plains is situated on the flat red soil plains of 00:00:27.19\00:00:32.53 New South Wales about 500 kilometers west of Sydney, 00:00:32.56\00:00:37.03 The station or ranch is a prime location for raising livestock 00:00:37.07\00:00:43.57 and growing wheat that swelters in the summer 00:00:43.61\00:00:46.71 and freezes during the winter. 00:00:46.74\00:00:49.84 Jumble Plains was purchased in 1927 by George Mc Lelland 00:00:49.88\00:00:54.98 the son of a Scottish immigrant. 00:00:55.02\00:00:57.25 During its heyday, the property was a lightning rod for some 00:00:57.29\00:01:02.36 of the brightest minds and best events in the Telomere area. 00:01:02.39\00:01:06.70 It was the site of an annual golf tournament, horse races, 00:01:06.73\00:01:10.93 ballroom dances, school concerts and fireworks displays 00:01:10.97\00:01:15.80 in the region. 00:01:15.84\00:01:17.17 But there was more to Jumble Plains than an eclectic mix of 00:01:17.21\00:01:21.94 bush glamour and good old- fashioned-ranching. 00:01:21.98\00:01:24.28 The McLellan family were at the heart of 00:01:24.31\00:01:27.95 the entire operation and they were stalwart leaders in the 00:01:27.98\00:01:31.62 area. The family weathered the same trials the any other 00:01:31.65\00:01:36.39 grazing family in the Australian Bush might endure 00:01:36.42\00:01:39.79 including a seven year drought, being overrun by rabbits, 00:01:39.83\00:01:44.07 and having to deal with below average crops. 00:01:44.10\00:01:47.70 In 1940 George McLellan's grandson was born 00:01:47.74\00:01:52.61 his parents couldn't decide on a name for their firstborn 00:01:52.64\00:01:55.64 child and according to family law, they decided on his name 00:01:55.68\00:02:00.78 on the way to the hospital, they named him Alan Anthony 00:02:00.82\00:02:05.12 McLellan and he came to be known as Tony. 00:02:05.15\00:02:08.76 Tony, what was your first memory of this house? 00:02:08.79\00:02:14.73 Big, rambling, famous, and I remember rolling on the lawn 00:02:14.76\00:02:28.18 with my dad when I was probably three, or maybe four. 00:02:28.21\00:02:33.01 That's what sort of sticks in my mind probably brought back 00:02:33.05\00:02:38.39 my picture of the... 00:02:38.42\00:02:40.96 Tony McLellan grew up at Jumble Plains, 00:02:40.99\00:02:44.33 he worked the land alongside his father shooting rabbits 00:02:44.36\00:02:48.56 filling bags of wheat, shearing sheep, and droving cattle, 00:02:48.60\00:02:52.63 but he didn't stay confined to the Australian Bush, 00:02:52.67\00:02:56.00 Carrying the stock whip here given him as a boy as a reminder 00:02:56.04\00:03:00.54 of his roots, Tony McLellan traveled the world. 00:03:00.58\00:03:04.71 From Singapore and Hong Cong, to Egypt, to London, Canada, 00:03:04.75\00:03:11.35 the United States, to New Zealand, and finally back 00:03:11.39\00:03:15.92 to Australia. 00:03:15.96\00:03:17.53 This son of the bush climbed to the pinnacle of corporate 00:03:17.56\00:03:21.66 success, he became, he became a thriving Real Estate mogul 00:03:21.70\00:03:25.77 and a Mining Entrepreneur, his story is one both immense 00:03:25.80\00:03:30.81 success and crushing defeat. 00:03:30.84\00:03:33.44 Join me this week as we look at the action packed life of 00:03:33.48\00:03:38.21 Tony McLellan, shearer, drover, wildly successful business man 00:03:38.25\00:03:43.82 humanitarian, man of God, and a true blue Australian 00:03:43.85\00:03:49.69 through and through. 00:03:49.72\00:03:51.19 I would describe Tony McLellan as a highly intelligent and 00:04:03.44\00:04:07.61 thoughtful man, a kindly man, a man of enormous generosity 00:04:07.64\00:04:13.18 of spirit, and someone who seems to have almost wired into his 00:04:13.21\00:04:20.42 DNA and decide to make a contribution and to serve 00:04:20.46\00:04:24.19 I don't think that he has such a thing as a philosophy 00:04:24.23\00:04:27.76 of retirement. I'm motivated dynamite, I would call 00:04:27.80\00:04:31.97 Tony McLellan a motivated dynamo, he's motivated 00:04:32.00\00:04:36.24 by his very deep Christian faith also he's motivated by 00:04:36.27\00:04:41.28 the free enterprise desire to experiment to succeed 00:04:41.31\00:04:46.65 more appropriately and he has boundless energy. 00:04:46.68\00:04:51.32 And I also credit him with a very good business brain, 00:04:51.35\00:04:55.79 so that's a pretty formidable combination. 00:04:55.82\00:04:58.99 Well, I think like anybody who really excels in a particular 00:04:59.03\00:05:04.10 profession or discipline that Tony has an intuition 00:05:04.13\00:05:07.94 particularly for business but more than that he's got 00:05:07.97\00:05:12.04 a real heart for people. 00:05:12.07\00:05:13.41 You know, I've seen him on many occasions for instance 00:05:13.44\00:05:15.84 travel, despite the fact that his own health at the time 00:05:15.88\00:05:19.58 not being good traveled hundreds of kilometers in order to 00:05:19.61\00:05:22.48 comfort a friend or encourage a friend. 00:05:22.52\00:05:24.92 And I suppose above everything for those who know him 00:05:24.95\00:05:29.09 he's an encourager of every- body he meets. 00:05:29.12\00:05:33.06 Tony, he's a bit of force of nature really, 00:05:33.09\00:05:34.80 he's one of those people who comes in, radiates confidence 00:05:34.83\00:05:41.04 encouragement, and the desire to help and picks people up 00:05:41.07\00:05:46.84 pick organizations up, picks things up and helps to bring 00:05:46.88\00:05:52.45 them to a better place. So look at Tony has had 00:05:52.48\00:05:57.39 a significant role in business over the years, 00:05:57.42\00:06:01.72 he's made a lot of money, he's lost a lot of money, 00:06:01.76\00:06:04.59 he's made a lot of money again and now he's determined 00:06:04.63\00:06:08.80 to use the resources he's got for good and I think that's 00:06:08.83\00:06:13.27 holy admirable. 00:06:13.30\00:06:14.64 Tony McLellan was born at the Tullamore Hospital near 00:06:20.24\00:06:24.41 Jumble Plains on the first of April 1940 in the middle of 00:06:24.45\00:06:29.22 one of the most tenuous times in History. 00:06:29.25\00:06:31.62 When he entered the world, Australia was in the early 00:06:31.65\00:06:36.06 stages of the II World War and times were tough 00:06:36.09\00:06:39.23 for the working class. He was also born in the midst of one of 00:06:39.26\00:06:43.03 the worst droughts of the century. 00:06:43.06\00:06:45.10 But as almost is always in the case of this rugged but 00:06:45.13\00:06:49.84 resilient land, the drought broke and the farmers managed to 00:06:49.87\00:06:53.78 hold on to their lands and their sheep and cattle. 00:06:53.81\00:06:56.41 Perhaps it was growing up in conditions like this 00:06:56.44\00:07:00.48 that shaped Tony into the indomitable resilient man 00:07:00.52\00:07:04.42 that he later became. 00:07:04.45\00:07:06.15 Tony, what was life like growing up in the outback 00:07:06.19\00:07:11.83 here at Jungle Plains. Oh, it was so amazing just 00:07:11.86\00:07:18.40 to think that I was blessed with this incredible opportunity 00:07:18.43\00:07:23.24 to live on this joined property and learn something about 00:07:23.27\00:07:28.78 farming, raising cattle and I just...It swells in me now 00:07:28.81\00:07:38.82 when I think about it all. 00:07:38.85\00:07:40.79 As a boy and youth Tony's days were filled with typical rounds 00:07:40.82\00:07:46.43 of farm chores but his responsibilities grew as he did 00:07:46.46\00:07:51.93 and he soon found himself shearing sheep and spending 00:07:52.07\00:07:55.97 hours on horseback in the open country. 00:07:56.00\00:07:58.27 While the station provided Tony with numerous adventures 00:07:58.31\00:08:03.35 he also experienced his fair share of excitement at school. 00:08:03.38\00:08:07.42 He was first sent to the Pinefield Public School 00:08:07.45\00:08:12.09 where there was only a maximum of eleven students across 00:08:12.12\00:08:16.56 five grades all cramped together in a single-roomed hut. 00:08:16.59\00:08:21.60 The experience was both fun and confining. 00:08:21.63\00:08:25.27 I spent five years there, no one ever in my grade 00:08:25.30\00:08:29.67 so when I came out on the sixth grade I was... 00:08:29.70\00:08:33.71 And what was it like in a small school like that? 00:08:33.74\00:08:36.91 Well, I didn't have anything with which to compare it 00:08:36.95\00:08:40.45 except that at the end my parents said well you got to 00:08:40.48\00:08:45.29 go to high school and they packed me off to Scott's College 00:08:45.32\00:08:49.72 in Sydney and I went into a boarding school with 00:08:49.76\00:08:53.13 a thousand boys, it was daunting. 00:08:53.16\00:08:56.13 Tony's time at boarding school was marred by the illness of his 00:08:56.16\00:09:01.50 father Allen. In July 1956 Tony received word that his 00:09:01.54\00:09:06.64 father was very ill. At 15 in fact, my dad became very ill 00:09:06.68\00:09:13.18 and asked me when I was home on September holidays 00:09:13.21\00:09:17.45 whether I'd be prepared to leave school and come and help him 00:09:17.49\00:09:21.26 run the property and I jumped at the idea. 00:09:21.29\00:09:24.76 It wasn't that I didn't like school but I didn't enjoy it 00:09:24.79\00:09:29.26 but I did enjoy working here and I left school and 00:09:29.30\00:09:34.04 a few months later he died on his 44th birthday, very tragic. 00:09:34.07\00:09:41.11 Barely 16 Tony was left to manage Jumble Plains and its 00:09:41.14\00:09:48.15 team adult workers on his own. 00:09:48.18\00:09:49.98 The following three years proved to be a tough apprenticeship 00:09:50.02\00:09:54.76 with a steep learning curve. Tony was forced to quickly 00:09:54.79\00:09:59.33 master all the skills needed to manage cattle, sheep, 00:09:59.36\00:10:03.83 and farming. Sadly after three years of working the land 00:10:03.87\00:10:10.17 Tony was forced to sell Jumble Plains regardless of how well 00:10:10.21\00:10:16.21 the wool market was doing, the estate taxes following 00:10:16.24\00:10:19.71 his father's death dealt with the property a crippling blow. 00:10:19.75\00:10:24.29 After selling the property Tony became a stock and station 00:10:24.32\00:10:29.89 agent and auctioneer starting off with the 00:10:29.92\00:10:32.99 Australian Mercantile Land and Finance Company 00:10:33.03\00:10:35.83 in Sydney. He was sent to Young which was in a large 00:10:35.86\00:10:39.87 Livestock Sales Center to learn the art of Auctioneering. 00:10:39.90\00:10:43.30 It was when staying in the Toetenam Hotel that Tony 00:10:43.34\00:10:47.31 first met his wife, Rae, it was a Monday morning in October 00:10:47.34\00:10:51.35 1959 and Tony went to his usual breakfast spot only to find 00:10:51.38\00:10:56.65 a young lady seated at what he had come to think of 00:10:56.69\00:10:59.99 as his own table. 00:11:00.02\00:11:01.72 I didn't know at the time its led to 61 years of wonderful 00:11:01.76\00:11:10.40 marriage, three beautiful kids, and experiences all around 00:11:10.43\00:11:15.04 the world began at this very table. 00:11:15.07\00:11:18.34 Ten months later they were engaged and five months 00:11:18.37\00:11:22.98 after that, they were married on the 19th of January, 1961 00:11:23.01\00:11:27.92 in Sydney. They bought their first home a tiny weatherboard 00:11:27.95\00:11:32.49 and fibrous cement home in Warren, Western New South Wales 00:11:32.52\00:11:35.92 and settled into a life as a newly married couple. 00:11:35.96\00:11:39.29 The first two years of their marriage was wrought with 00:11:39.33\00:11:44.70 challenges and a lot of change. 00:11:44.73\00:11:46.43 They moved to Sydney where among other opportunities 00:11:46.47\00:11:50.41 Tony saw an opening to resume his education which he had 00:11:50.44\00:11:54.44 abandoned in the wake of his father's death. 00:11:54.48\00:11:57.25 They lived in Ashfield where Ray began teaching 00:11:57.28\00:12:01.65 and Tony simultaneously took up two courses in 00:12:01.68\00:12:05.59 Property devaluation. While studying, he managed to land 00:12:05.62\00:12:09.49 a job in the Property Department of a big corporation in 00:12:09.52\00:12:13.16 North Sydney. Their first son Scott was born in February 1966 00:12:13.19\00:12:19.37 and their second son Stewart was born two years later. 00:12:19.40\00:12:23.41 Then came their daughter Samantha in 1972. 00:12:23.44\00:12:27.54 The McLellans found themselves living the great Australian 00:12:27.58\00:12:32.71 dream. A boy from the Bush and the red dirt plains of the 00:12:32.75\00:12:35.88 Outback, making it big in Sydney with a happy and healthy 00:12:35.92\00:12:40.26 family. No one could have asked for more and yet God had so much 00:12:40.29\00:12:45.96 more in store for all of them. 00:12:45.99\00:12:48.66 During much of his early career, Tony managed a slew of 00:12:48.70\00:12:55.24 high-profile real estate development projects that him 00:12:55.27\00:12:59.24 working for big corporations both at home and around 00:12:59.27\00:13:02.94 the globe. In the 1970's, he was given the opportunity 00:13:02.98\00:13:07.58 of managing a massive real- estate development project 00:13:07.62\00:13:11.29 in Egypt. It was a challenge but one that Tony and Ray 00:13:11.32\00:13:15.56 tackled with a blend of pragmatism and determination. 00:13:15.59\00:13:19.49 They packed up the family and moved to Egypt where Tony 00:13:19.53\00:13:24.17 took up the reigns of the new project and settled into 00:13:24.20\00:13:27.44 managing one of the biggest business challenges 00:13:27.47\00:13:30.61 of his entire career at the age of just 35. 00:13:30.64\00:13:35.34 It was a grand adventure that saw him learning Arabic 00:13:35.38\00:13:39.28 and navigating the intricacies of doing business throughout 00:13:39.31\00:13:43.59 the Middle East. 00:13:43.62\00:13:44.95 During their time in Egypt the McLellan's posted 00:13:44.99\00:13:48.62 lavish parties for members of the Saudi Royal family, 00:13:48.66\00:13:51.89 attended glitzy dinner parties at embassies, survived a 00:13:51.93\00:13:56.23 populous riot and explored the wonders of the famous 00:13:56.26\00:14:00.44 Valley of the Kings. 00:14:00.47\00:14:02.00 While working on the project in Egypt, he received 00:14:02.04\00:14:06.21 another offer, this one was to move to Canada 00:14:06.24\00:14:09.81 to undertake another Real- Estate Development Project 00:14:09.84\00:14:13.38 the family moved to Toronto in August 1979. 00:14:13.42\00:14:17.99 After a few months in Canada Tony was given another 00:14:18.02\00:14:22.42 opportunity, this time to move out of hotel development 00:14:22.46\00:14:27.16 which he had largely been involved in and into 00:14:27.20\00:14:30.30 Resource Mining, it was a big shift mostly because 00:14:30.33\00:14:34.80 by his own admission, he knew nothing about resources 00:14:34.84\00:14:38.67 or mining but Tony McLellan has never been a man 00:14:38.71\00:14:43.61 to back down from a challenge 00:14:43.65\00:14:45.98 Accepting the offer he formed a new corporation, 00:14:46.01\00:14:49.58 negotiated shareholders agreements, found investors, 00:14:49.62\00:14:54.06 and traveled to Denver Colorado for a crash course in geology 00:14:54.09\00:14:59.06 and the extraction of oil and gas. 00:14:59.09\00:15:01.76 The years continued to fly by in a blur of successful deals 00:15:01.80\00:15:08.37 lavish parties, and watching the children grow up. 00:15:08.40\00:15:11.77 Everything seemed to be going well until Tony hit 00:15:11.81\00:15:16.08 what he calls a mid-life crisis around his 47th birthday. 00:15:16.11\00:15:20.72 After years of pouring his energy into his career 00:15:20.75\00:15:25.12 cracks began to appear in his marriage. 00:15:25.15\00:15:27.82 Tony describes himself as becoming verbally abusive 00:15:27.86\00:15:32.53 towards his wife and their children. 00:15:32.56\00:15:34.80 While Rae patiently bore the situation for a time, 00:15:34.83\00:15:38.53 there came a point where she chose to remove herself from 00:15:38.57\00:15:42.60 what had become a toxic situation. 00:15:42.64\00:15:45.07 Yes, we had a rather fowl argument between Christmas 00:15:45.11\00:15:51.25 and New Year and I said to Tony, enough' s enough, I can't 00:15:51.28\00:15:57.79 do this anymore. I had no intention of getting a divorce 00:15:57.82\00:16:01.49 I didn't want a divorce but I wanted to think about it. 00:16:01.52\00:16:06.39 and think things through and see if there was any way forward 00:16:06.43\00:16:10.37 and so I got plane tickets for Samantha and me 00:16:10.40\00:16:16.17 and left and went to Australia and Tony came back from playing 00:16:16.20\00:16:21.68 tennis which he had gone for a few days to do 00:16:21.71\00:16:24.11 and found that I had gone and I think gave him a very nasty 00:16:24.15\00:16:31.29 unpleasant shock. 00:16:31.32\00:16:32.79 Tony was shattered, reflecting on the incident, he writes... 00:16:32.82\00:16:37.99 He felt as though everything he had worked so hard for 00:16:46.63\00:16:50.84 the last 30 years was now out the window and he faced 00:16:50.87\00:16:55.11 a gaping hole of futility. 00:16:55.14\00:16:57.05 With his wife gone, he struggled to see purpose and meaning 00:16:57.08\00:17:01.52 in his life. Overwhelmed by utter despair 00:17:01.55\00:17:05.79 Tony collapsed in a heap in front of his expensive but empty 00:17:05.82\00:17:10.43 home. It was a moment of absolute despondency and he 00:17:10.46\00:17:15.13 realized that he needed help, but he didn't know where to 00:17:15.16\00:17:18.60 turn. When he had hit rock bottom his minister friend Dr. 00:17:18.63\00:17:23.44 Youssef called and told him that he would like to come by 00:17:23.47\00:17:26.17 for a visit. When Dr. Youssef arrived, he took one look 00:17:26.21\00:17:30.85 at Tony and knew that he wasn't doing well. 00:17:30.88\00:17:33.62 When I explained what was happening, he said 00:17:33.65\00:17:37.19 you need Jesus and I said no, I need help. 00:17:37.22\00:17:40.82 I didn't at that time...I wasn't aware, wasn't conscious 00:17:40.86\00:17:45.59 of the fact that the source of the help was Jesus 00:17:45.63\00:17:48.66 and he got me on my knees praying and my whole life 00:17:48.70\00:17:54.00 changed from that very moment. 00:17:54.04\00:17:55.84 And the most amazing thing is that within 10 minutes 00:17:55.87\00:18:01.94 I realized that I was the cause of the problem. 00:18:01.98\00:18:05.01 I would have never admitted I was sort of persuaded it was 00:18:05.05\00:18:09.85 good with difficulty. Why wasn't she more sympathetic 00:18:09.88\00:18:14.62 with my traveling? and suddenly I realized it was mine. 00:18:14.66\00:18:18.59 Tony experienced the healing power of the words of 00:18:18.63\00:18:23.53 Psalm 23 and verse one. 00:18:23.57\00:18:25.43 He realized that God is the Shepherd 00:18:30.01\00:18:32.84 who is willing to search for and cover His lost sheep 00:18:32.87\00:18:36.54 who have gone astray. 00:18:36.58\00:18:38.11 In January of 1988 Tony arrived in Australia 00:18:38.15\00:18:43.49 and was reunited with his wife, they were reconciled 00:18:43.52\00:18:48.19 and flew back to their home in Atlanta to start afresh. 00:18:48.22\00:18:51.79 After they had settled in, they decided to serve God 00:18:51.83\00:18:56.00 through the agency of Christian Ministries. 00:18:56.03\00:18:58.63 Not long after his reconciliation with Rae 00:18:58.67\00:19:04.11 Tony ventured into software development at the time 00:19:04.14\00:19:08.44 the IT Industry was still in its infancy and the potential 00:19:08.48\00:19:13.18 inherent in the new advance- ments excited Tony. 00:19:13.21\00:19:16.82 He raised capital and set up the McLellan's Software Center 00:19:16.85\00:19:21.32 signing a deal with a team of Brazilian software developers 00:19:21.36\00:19:25.13 in January 1991. 00:19:25.16\00:19:27.66 But the venture proved to be difficult to navigate, 00:19:27.70\00:19:30.97 the company ran out of money and took with it much 00:19:31.00\00:19:34.54 of Tony's finances, his life savings disappeared 00:19:34.57\00:19:38.24 the banks foreclosed on their lavish home and they were 00:19:38.27\00:19:41.88 forced to sell cars in order to raise cash to survive. 00:19:41.91\00:19:46.58 Their financial situation became so bad that there were times 00:19:46.61\00:19:51.35 that they had less than $20 between them. 00:19:51.39\00:19:54.36 At times they were so overwhelmed by their 00:19:54.39\00:19:56.89 difficulties that they found it hard to pray. 00:19:56.93\00:20:00.23 Their minister gave them some sound advice 00:20:00.26\00:20:03.33 he told them to spend their prayer time praising 00:20:03.37\00:20:07.54 and thanking God for everything they did have. 00:20:07.57\00:20:10.61 and this piece of wisdom proved to be a great source of 00:20:10.64\00:20:14.58 comfort and help. 00:20:14.61\00:20:16.04 Through the four years of financial hardship that 00:20:16.08\00:20:18.88 the McLellans endured they were often tempted to 00:20:18.91\00:20:21.98 despair over their circumstances but God sustained them. 00:20:22.02\00:20:26.39 Their faith in God the support of their church community, 00:20:26.42\00:20:30.76 gave them strength to weather the storm. 00:20:30.79\00:20:33.56 Finally, after years of struggling, Tony got his first 00:20:33.60\00:20:38.63 break when a Dutch investor was willing to give him the 00:20:38.67\00:20:41.84 seed capital that he needed to start a new software company. 00:20:41.87\00:20:45.37 When he eventually returned to Australia, 00:20:45.41\00:20:49.54 he served on the board of Opportunity International 00:20:49.58\00:20:52.71 and was appointed chairman of Habitat for Humanity 00:20:52.75\00:20:56.79 and later the Australian Christian Lobby. 00:20:56.82\00:20:59.95 They set up the McLellan Foundation and a number of 00:20:59.99\00:21:04.79 ministries for which they provided seed capital. 00:21:04.83\00:21:08.33 Tony went a step further and kicked off a new career 00:21:08.36\00:21:11.87 in the Christian Not For Profit world co-founding citizens 00:21:11.90\00:21:16.40 for community values. 00:21:16.44\00:21:18.31 Years later, Tony formed the Chrysos Corporation 00:21:18.34\00:21:23.11 in partnership with CSIRO. This company has developed 00:21:23.14\00:21:29.18 Photo NASA a new technology that is significantly 00:21:29.22\00:21:33.72 improved the mining value chain. 00:21:33.76\00:21:35.32 The success of the venture has enabled the 00:21:35.36\00:21:38.99 McLellan Foundation to invest in Christian projects 00:21:39.03\00:21:42.83 around the world. Tony wanted to turn his success 00:21:42.86\00:21:47.04 into lasting significance, he wanted to make a difference. 00:21:47.07\00:21:52.01 This is especially seen in two of the projects 00:21:52.04\00:21:56.51 most dear to Tony's heart. 00:21:56.54\00:21:58.21 The first is the building of the McLellan Hall 00:21:58.25\00:22:02.02 a new facility at the Lachlan Macquarie Institute of which 00:22:02.05\00:22:06.86 Tony has been a director for many years. 00:22:06.89\00:22:09.29 The next is the Favor Hospital near the capital of Tanzania 00:22:09.32\00:22:15.66 funded by the McLellan foundation Dafadra 00:22:15.70\00:22:19.90 is a Fistula Hospital dedicated to serve the needs of women 00:22:19.93\00:22:24.31 in East Africa. For Tony, these projects represent a move from 00:22:24.34\00:22:30.05 success to significance, a shift in direction from simply 00:22:30.08\00:22:34.92 amassing wealth and living an affluent lifestyle 00:22:34.95\00:22:38.49 to a lifestyle that impacts individuals in communities 00:22:38.52\00:22:42.32 in meaningful and life- changing ways. 00:22:42.36\00:22:45.16 Tony's conversion to Christian Faith gave him a great impetus 00:22:45.19\00:22:50.93 to be a very good businessman who could be trusted 00:22:50.97\00:22:55.14 he could be seen to be trusted and it also gave him 00:22:55.17\00:22:59.84 a surprising drive to succeed in business so that he could 00:22:59.87\00:23:04.51 use the proceeds to make a difference in other people's 00:23:04.55\00:23:07.65 lives and Tony seems extraordinarily motivated 00:23:07.68\00:23:10.69 in a very admirable way to want to make a contribution 00:23:10.72\00:23:14.22 to others for as long as he can. 00:23:14.26\00:23:15.79 Tony's Christian faith caused him to look outwards 00:23:15.82\00:23:19.73 I think people ought to look inwards, what can this do 00:23:19.76\00:23:21.96 for me, what can it do for my company, 00:23:22.00\00:23:23.77 what can it do for my family? 00:23:23.80\00:23:25.23 Tony is always thinking what can this do for humanity? 00:23:25.27\00:23:29.44 For my fellow human beings? For God's creatures? 00:23:29.47\00:23:32.71 And I think that that way of looking at the world 00:23:32.74\00:23:36.78 just changes the way you do business and changes the way 00:23:36.81\00:23:39.95 you think about wealth and the importance of wealth 00:23:39.98\00:23:42.85 and possessions, everything is Tony's life is about how 00:23:42.88\00:23:47.09 can I best use this for God's glory and not for my own. 00:23:47.12\00:23:50.73 When I was a member of Stalwart I used to say that 00:23:50.76\00:23:54.86 there are lots of people who wanted to give me their 00:23:54.90\00:23:58.30 advice. There were a smaller number of people who were 00:23:58.33\00:24:01.94 prepared to give me their time but there was almost no one 00:24:01.97\00:24:06.01 who was prepared to hand over their cash and yet to get 00:24:06.04\00:24:10.38 anything done you need resources and the foundational 00:24:10.41\00:24:15.05 resource of everything is cash so Tony McLellan is 00:24:15.08\00:24:20.26 one of those people who is prepared to come with 00:24:20.29\00:24:24.16 that which counts, with cold hard cash to help the 00:24:24.19\00:24:29.16 the causes the individuals he believes in 00:24:29.20\00:24:32.47 and that makes him incredibly significant particularly 00:24:32.50\00:24:36.64 on the Santa ride if you like, on the conservative side 00:24:36.67\00:24:42.24 of our public and community life because of these are 00:24:42.28\00:24:48.95 difficult times for people who believe in what might be 00:24:48.98\00:24:54.02 described as traditional values, traditional institutions, 00:24:54.06\00:24:57.96 traditional ways of life and Tony is one of those people 00:24:57.99\00:25:01.73 who doesn't just lament the difficulties that we have 00:25:01.76\00:25:08.04 he tries in his own way to do something to make them 00:25:08.07\00:25:12.17 better so, that's wonderful, ...that continue? 00:25:12.21\00:25:17.75 The story of Tony McLellan's life is one of perseverance, 00:25:22.25\00:25:26.49 determination, and the joy of walking with Jesus. 00:25:26.52\00:25:30.16 These are the lessons, Tony teaches us... 00:25:30.19\00:25:33.13 The value of good old-fashioned hard work, and the necessity of 00:25:33.16\00:25:38.53 faith to bring us through the hard times, but perhaps 00:25:38.57\00:25:43.41 the most poignant part of Tony's story is the truth 00:25:43.44\00:25:46.94 that God is always striving to reach us no matter how young 00:25:46.98\00:25:51.18 or old we or where we are in life, it is never too late 00:25:51.21\00:25:56.15 to give your life to Jesus. 00:25:56.18\00:25:58.22 There is no problem too big, no sin too dark, 00:25:58.25\00:26:02.32 no struggle to fierce that Jesus doesn't have a remedy for. 00:26:02.36\00:26:07.30 He sees you and He knows you and He's reaching out to you 00:26:07.33\00:26:12.23 in love and compassion. 00:26:12.27\00:26:13.67 If you would like to make the choice to follow Jesus today 00:26:13.70\00:26:17.57 then I'd like to recommend the free gift we have for 00:26:17.61\00:26:21.48 all our Incredible Journey viewers today 00:26:21.51\00:26:25.08 it's the booklet Tips for a Successful Life. 00:26:25.11\00:26:28.65 This booklet is our gift to you and is absolutely free, 00:26:28.68\00:26:32.89 I guarantee, there are no costs or obligations whatsoever. 00:26:32.92\00:26:37.63 So make the most of this wonderful opportunity 00:26:37.66\00:26:41.20 to receive your free gift today. 00:26:41.23\00:26:44.47 Phone or text 0436.333.555 in Australia or 024.422.2042 00:26:44.50\00:26:54.98 in New Zealand, or 770.800.0266 in the United States. 00:26:55.01\00:27:01.85 Or visit our website at tij.tv or simply scan the QR Code 00:27:01.88\00:27:07.92 on your screen and we'll send you today's free offer 00:27:07.96\00:27:11.33 totally free of charge and with no obligation. 00:27:11.36\00:27:14.30 You can also write to us at the addresses on your screen. 00:27:14.33\00:27:17.90 or email us at info@tij.tv don't delay call or text us now. 00:27:17.93\00:27:25.41 If you've enjoyed our journey with Tony McLellan 00:27:25.44\00:27:29.34 from Jumble Plains to the pinnacle of International 00:27:29.38\00:27:33.88 success and our reflections on turning our successes into 00:27:33.92\00:27:38.45 lasting significance, then be sure to join us again next week 00:27:38.49\00:27:42.22 when we will share another of Life's Journey's together. 00:27:42.26\00:27:45.63 Until then, let's pray to the great God of the universe 00:27:45.66\00:27:49.96 who loves us, cares for us, and guides us. 00:27:50.00\00:27:54.24 Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for the way 00:27:54.27\00:27:58.57 that you have guided and led Tony McLellan. 00:27:58.61\00:28:01.31 We pray that you will guide our lives also, 00:28:01.34\00:28:04.88 please lead us and our families from here to eternity. 00:28:04.91\00:28:10.39 We pray in Jesus' name.
