Here among the bustling crowds and the high-rise buildings 00:00:25.02\00:00:29.86 that the wharfs of Sydney's Darling Harbor near the 00:00:29.89\00:00:33.13 distinguished HMB Endeavor replica, 00:00:33.16\00:00:36.06 the destroyer HMA's Vampire and a submarine HMAs Onslaught 00:00:36.10\00:00:41.77 bobs an unassuming old wooden Japanese fishing boat at its 00:00:41.80\00:00:46.71 mooring beside the Australian National Maritime Museum 00:00:46.74\00:00:50.95 but don't be deceived by its lowly and unassuming appearance. 00:00:50.98\00:00:56.22 The humble MB Krait played a major role in one of 00:00:56.25\00:01:01.39 World War II's most daring and successful commander raids. 00:01:01.42\00:01:05.76 It was code-named Operation Jaywick, the boats crew of ZED 00:01:05.79\00:01:11.63 Special Force Operatives sailed undetected through thousands of 00:01:11.67\00:01:15.94 kilometers of enemy waters to launch a raid on the Japanese 00:01:15.97\00:01:20.31 Occupied Singapore Harbor in 1943. 00:01:20.34\00:01:24.05 It was the longest-range seaborne raid ever undertaken 00:01:24.08\00:01:28.78 in the history of war. 00:01:28.82\00:01:30.59 After the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese 00:01:30.62\00:01:34.42 in 1942, many fled on boats and ships of all sizes. 00:01:34.46\00:01:39.59 Amid the chaos Australian Bill Reynolds salvaged a little 00:01:39.63\00:01:45.13 Japanese fishing boat named The Kafukuryu Maru. 00:01:45.17\00:01:48.90 As he rescued civilians from some islands it became clear 00:01:48.94\00:01:53.44 that unlike some other vessels the Kafukuryu Maru was not being 00:01:53.48\00:01:58.01 targeted by enemy aircraft or nearby Naval vessels. 00:01:58.05\00:02:02.08 During that rescue work, Mr. Reynolds came across a 00:02:02.12\00:02:06.55 British special operative Ivan Lyle who became very 00:02:06.59\00:02:10.53 interested in the little Japanese fishing boat. 00:02:10.56\00:02:13.03 They realized that if you can get people out of Singapore 00:02:13.06\00:02:17.77 in that boat, then you can also get people back in on it. 00:02:17.80\00:02:22.07 Join me as we investigate how 14 men successfully 00:02:22.10\00:02:28.04 sunk seven Japanese warships and destroyed 39,000 tons 00:02:28.08\00:02:33.15 of enemy shipping in one of the most daring Covert Operations 00:02:33.18\00:02:37.85 in military history and find out more about another battle 00:02:37.89\00:02:42.49 the greatest battle of all that is going on in our world 00:02:42.79\00:02:46.23 today and how it affects each one of us. 00:02:46.26\00:02:49.80 The port of Singapore is the hub of almost incessant activity 00:03:00.88\00:03:05.78 drawing trade from around the globe to this small but 00:03:05.81\00:03:10.05 formidable city-state. 00:03:10.09\00:03:11.99 The Singapore Harbor has a rich heritage dating back to the 00:03:12.02\00:03:16.96 13th century when it functioned as the only southern port 00:03:16.99\00:03:21.23 in the strait of Malacca facilitating trade throughout 00:03:21.26\00:03:25.10 the region. In 1818 Sir Stanford Raffles sailed to Malacca 00:03:25.13\00:03:31.91 and established a British Trading Post in Singapore. 00:03:31.94\00:03:35.48 It was at this point that this strategically located city 00:03:35.51\00:03:40.82 was turned into a British Colony and a small settlement was 00:03:40.85\00:03:45.52 established there. Over 100 years later when World War II 00:03:45.55\00:03:50.93 kicked off in Europe on the 1st of September 1939 00:03:50.96\00:03:55.10 Singapore was a firmly established British Colony. 00:03:55.13\00:03:59.73 Then, out of the blue on the 7th of December 1941 00:03:59.77\00:04:05.17 Japan decided to enter the arena by launching a surprise 00:04:05.21\00:04:10.08 offensive against the allied forces. 00:04:10.11\00:04:12.58 The Japanese offensive began with a brutal attack on 00:04:12.61\00:04:16.92 Pearl Harbor at 7:48 a.m. in Hawaiian time on the 7th of 00:04:16.95\00:04:21.96 of December 1941. Over 300 Japanese aircraft began bombing 00:04:21.99\00:04:28.16 and strafing the US Naval Base The attack was over in just 00:04:28.20\00:04:34.24 19 minutes but the results were devastating. 00:04:34.27\00:04:37.54 In total over 2,400 Americans were killed and over 1,000 00:04:37.57\00:04:43.61 were wounded. The Japanese managed to destroy and damage 00:04:43.65\00:04:48.58 nearly 20 American Naval vessels including eight battleships 00:04:48.62\00:04:53.36 and over 300 airplanes. 00:04:53.39\00:04:55.52 The formidable US fleet docked at Pearl Harbor was devastating 00:04:55.56\00:05:01.66 but Japan was far from done from her offensive, 00:05:01.70\00:05:05.17 within seven hours Japan launched attacks against 00:05:05.20\00:05:10.41 the Philippians and Guam which were both US-held territories 00:05:10.44\00:05:14.18 and Borneo, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong 00:05:14.21\00:05:18.28 which were a part of the British Empire. 00:05:18.31\00:05:20.68 Allied forces rallied to counter the attack but the Japanese 00:05:20.72\00:05:25.85 despite the fact that they were outnumbered began to advance 00:05:25.89\00:05:29.76 down the Malayan Peninsula pushing back allied defenses. 00:05:29.79\00:05:34.66 The allied forces were worried about losing Singapore 00:05:34.70\00:05:38.67 which at the time was a significant anchor point 00:05:38.70\00:05:41.87 for the American, British, Dutch, Australian Command. 00:05:41.90\00:05:45.61 The first allied joint command of the war in addition to this 00:05:45.64\00:05:50.75 Singapore's strategic location meant that it was the only 00:05:50.78\00:05:55.75 shipping link between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. 00:05:55.78\00:05:58.99 Losing this stronghold would set the allied forces 00:05:59.02\00:06:03.43 back significantly. 00:06:03.46\00:06:05.06 As the fighting intensified and casualties mounted 00:06:05.09\00:06:09.53 allied troops were forced to fall back leaving the leisure 00:06:09.56\00:06:13.64 to the Japanese. Desperate to protect Singapore they 00:06:13.67\00:06:18.64 sabotaged the causeway between Johor and Singapore hoping to 00:06:18.67\00:06:23.91 fend off the advancing Japanese. Incapacitating the causeway 00:06:23.95\00:06:29.48 stalled the Japanese for a week, then under the cover 00:06:29.52\00:06:33.72 of night on the 8th of February Japanese troops began 00:06:33.76\00:06:37.99 crossing Johor Straight. 00:06:38.03\00:06:39.39 After an hour long battle the Japanese began pushing through 00:06:39.43\00:06:44.13 allied lines. By the night of the 14th of February 00:06:44.17\00:06:48.47 allied supplies were diminishing and their situation was getting 00:06:48.50\00:06:52.74 desperate. The allies opted to surrender and a car with 00:06:52.77\00:06:57.61 the Union Jack flattering beside a white flag cautiously 00:06:57.65\00:07:02.08 approached enemy lines, shortly after 5:00 p.m. on the 15th of 00:07:02.12\00:07:06.59 of February 1942, the allies surrendered Singapore 00:07:06.62\00:07:11.59 and the Japanese hoisted the flag of the rising sun 00:07:11.63\00:07:14.80 over the cafe building which at the time was the tallest 00:07:14.83\00:07:19.57 building in Singapore. 00:07:19.60\00:07:20.94 Singapore became a Japanese stronghold commandeering 00:07:20.97\00:07:25.94 the strategic shipping lines and placing thousands of British 00:07:25.97\00:07:30.55 and Australian soldiers in the brutal Changi Prison. 00:07:30.58\00:07:34.22 In the midst of the Japanese invasion was Bill Reynolds 00:07:34.25\00:07:38.89 an Australian who found himself among the allied fighters 00:07:38.92\00:07:42.92 defending the land, Reynolds was a retired World War I 00:07:42.96\00:07:47.56 Royal Naval Veteran who had spent much of his time working 00:07:47.60\00:07:51.57 in Southeast Asia. Reynolds spotted an unused Japanese 00:07:51.60\00:07:56.10 fishing boat the Kafukuryu Maru docked in Singapore, 00:07:56.14\00:08:00.14 quickly Reynolds made her seaworthy enough to sail her 00:08:00.18\00:08:04.11 away from the invasion. In the midst of the chaos of the 00:08:04.15\00:08:08.18 invasion and evacuation Reynolds met Ivan Lyon. 00:08:08.22\00:08:12.15 Now Lyon was a British Army Captain who had formerly 00:08:12.19\00:08:17.03 worked for MI-6, the British Intelligence Service. 00:08:17.06\00:08:20.73 Reynolds and Lyon realized that while many other escaping 00:08:20.76\00:08:25.67 vessels had been captured or sunk, vessels like the 00:08:25.70\00:08:29.47 Kafukuryu Maru which was nothing more than a six-meter or 20-foot 00:08:29.50\00:08:34.01 wood Japanese fishing boat had managed to make it out of the 00:08:34.04\00:08:38.15 fray unscathed. This led them both to believe that it was 00:08:38.18\00:08:43.39 possible to use a similar boat if not the same one 00:08:43.42\00:08:46.82 to return to Singapore and attack the Japanese forces. 00:08:46.86\00:08:51.83 They enlisted the help of the commander and chief of 00:08:51.86\00:08:55.90 the British Forces in India and the Far East, 00:08:55.93\00:08:59.00 General Archibald Wavell. Wavell insisted that the attack 00:08:59.03\00:09:04.57 be launched from Australia arguing that the Japanese 00:09:04.61\00:09:08.51 were patrolling the waters West of Singapore expecting 00:09:08.54\00:09:12.08 an attack from that direction and that they would never dream 00:09:12.11\00:09:16.28 of an attack from the east. 00:09:16.32\00:09:18.05 The mission was code-named Operation Jaywick 00:09:18.09\00:09:21.99 and plans were soon underway Reynolds boat was renamed Krait 00:09:22.02\00:09:27.40 after a small but deadly Asian Snake and shipped to Sydney 00:09:27.43\00:09:32.20 aboard a Royal Navy Freighter. 00:09:32.23\00:09:34.34 A few months after the Japanese Occupation of Singapore 00:09:34.37\00:09:38.57 the Allied Intelligence Bureau created Zed Special Force 00:09:38.61\00:09:43.45 it was a secret operations unit that went on special operation 00:09:43.48\00:09:48.42 missions behind enemy lines in Southeast Asia. 00:09:48.45\00:09:51.99 It was made up of volunteers of all branches of the Allied 00:09:52.02\00:09:57.46 Forces and came under the direct command of General Douglas 00:09:57.49\00:10:01.70 McArthur. Operation Jay wick the brainchild of Lyon and 00:10:01.73\00:10:06.97 Reynolds would be executed by Zed Special Unit Operatives 00:10:07.00\00:10:11.51 and conjointly run by the British Special Operations 00:10:11.54\00:10:16.54 Executive and the Royal Australian Navy. After receiving 00:10:16.58\00:10:20.98 the green Light for Operation Jay wick, Lyon began recruiting 00:10:21.02\00:10:25.59 and training the perfect team for the job. His first recruit 00:10:25.62\00:10:30.23 was Donald Davidson, a tough Naval Lieutenant who had worked 00:10:30.26\00:10:34.56 in Singapore for many years and who agreed to come on board 00:10:34.60\00:10:38.70 as second in command. 00:10:38.73\00:10:40.17 Davidson and Lyon soon began visiting naval bases 00:10:40.20\00:10:45.54 and recruited an initial draft of 17 eager young Australian 00:10:45.57\00:10:50.81 sailors who had put up their hands to be part of an 00:10:50.85\00:10:54.55 unspecified Special Services Mission. 00:10:54.58\00:10:57.85 The commander training regime was brutal as the men learned 00:10:57.89\00:11:04.59 how to fight, kill, wreak havoc, and survive. 00:11:04.63\00:11:08.56 The men lost all sense of night and day, sometimes when 00:11:08.60\00:11:13.54 they were sound asleep after a rigorous day's training 00:11:13.57\00:11:16.91 they were woken at 2 a.m. for a 35-kilometer run over 00:11:16.94\00:11:21.54 sand dunes. The initial group of seventeen was reduced to 11 00:11:21.58\00:11:26.82 at the end of six weeks training and the men were sent to 00:11:26.85\00:11:30.69 Remote Refuge Bay here just North of Sydney on the 00:11:30.72\00:11:35.69 Hawk bury River, when they arrived, they found a small 00:11:35.72\00:11:40.10 sandy stoop of beach strewn with their gear. 00:11:40.13\00:11:43.57 They had to haul all of it, tents, food, cooking supplies 00:11:43.60\00:11:48.87 and sleeping gear up a sheer sandstone cliff where they 00:11:48.90\00:11:53.07 set up camp on top. They were informed that their training 00:11:53.11\00:11:57.81 would begin at the crack of dawn and continue until 10 p.m. 00:11:57.85\00:12:02.58 at night. The men would train to navigate on land and water 00:12:02.62\00:12:07.02 by day and night, read maps and charts and successfully 00:12:07.06\00:12:11.69 camaflouge themselves and their gear. 00:12:11.73\00:12:14.23 Then one day a pair of two men collapsible canoes were 00:12:14.26\00:12:20.07 brought to the camp. The collapsible canoes soon became 00:12:20.10\00:12:24.81 the central focus of their training and with each passing 00:12:24.84\00:12:28.08 day, the men were pushed to paddle further and further 00:12:28.11\00:12:31.61 in the canoes until finally they set out on their first 00:12:31.65\00:12:36.38 long-distance mission. 00:12:36.42\00:12:37.82 They paddled their canoes along the coastal ways and waterways 00:12:37.85\00:12:41.59 linking Tuggerahl Lake and Lake Macquarie 00:12:41.62\00:12:44.53 and carrying their canoes over land between the lakes. 00:12:44.56\00:12:48.43 After three months of training Captain Lyon gathered the men 00:12:48.46\00:12:53.17 together and informed them that only five of them would be 00:12:53.20\00:12:58.17 deployed for the final mission. These five men who had formed 00:12:58.21\00:13:02.91 the core group of Operation Jay Wick were between the ages 00:13:02.94\00:13:07.32 of 18 and 23. The five men were taken aboard the Krait 00:13:07.35\00:13:13.66 from Refuge Bay. 00:13:13.69\00:13:15.02 Today a plaque attached to one of the sandstone rocks at 00:13:15.06\00:13:19.86 Refuge Bay Beach commemorates the events. It reads... 00:13:19.89\00:13:24.60 The MV Krait sailed from Refuge Bay, up the east coast 00:13:46.89\00:13:51.76 of Australia to Cairns where the crew were joined by 00:13:51.79\00:13:55.73 other crew members before their final deployment for 00:13:55.76\00:13:59.23 Operation Jaywick from Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia. 00:13:59.27\00:14:03.51 However, they still didn't know what the operation entailed. 00:14:03.54\00:14:08.64 On the 2nd of September the Krait slipped quietly out of 00:14:08.68\00:14:14.22 the American submarine base at Exmouth Gulf and chartered 00:14:14.25\00:14:18.25 a course toward Lombok Indonesia. The next day 00:14:18.29\00:14:22.46 on the 3rd of September, the crew gathered on the deck 00:14:22.49\00:14:26.29 where Captain Lyon gave them their mission. 00:14:26.33\00:14:29.86 They were told that they would be sabotaging Japanese vessels 00:14:29.90\00:14:34.14 at anchor in the Singapore Harbor. 00:14:34.17\00:14:36.74 The men recognized that the mission was almost impossible 00:14:36.77\00:14:41.14 and potentially suicidal, but they were still willing to try. 00:14:41.18\00:14:46.72 Lyon began to take down the components of the mission 00:14:46.75\00:14:50.72 informing them that they would infiltrate the harbor using 00:14:50.75\00:14:54.79 the canoes with the Olympic mines that they carried 00:14:54.82\00:14:57.83 on board, Lyon then assigned the crew their specific tasks. 00:14:57.86\00:15:02.60 They would be divided into two parties, six men who would 00:15:02.63\00:15:08.00 make up the raiding party paddling into the harbor 00:15:08.04\00:15:11.24 to plant the mines and the remaining eight would stay 00:15:11.27\00:15:14.74 on board the Krait navigating it among the islands around 00:15:14.78\00:15:18.71 Singapore before meeting their raiding party at their 00:15:18.75\00:15:22.35 on the randevu point. 00:15:22.38\00:15:23.72 On the 5th of September as the boat motored northwards 00:15:23.75\00:15:28.42 the men applied dye to their skins. The dye was meant to 00:15:28.46\00:15:32.49 to stain their skin dark brown making them look more Asian 00:15:32.53\00:15:37.37 than European from a distance. 00:15:37.40\00:15:39.33 The dye wasn't a very effective camouflage up close 00:15:39.37\00:15:44.11 but from a distance, it worked to make them look like a 00:15:44.14\00:15:48.18 group of Indonesian fishermen in Japanese-controlled territory. 00:15:48.21\00:15:52.61 To complete the disguise, the men dyed their hair black 00:15:52.65\00:15:57.35 and wore sarongs, then on the 6th of September the men 00:15:57.39\00:16:02.06 raised a worn Japanese flag, they were now ready to sail 00:16:02.09\00:16:07.00 behind enemy lines. 00:16:07.03\00:16:09.10 Over the next three weeks the little fishing boat navigated 00:16:09.13\00:16:14.67 strong tides, rough seas and raging tropical storms 00:16:14.70\00:16:19.87 out in the open ocean. The men were constantly under strain 00:16:19.91\00:16:24.91 for fear of being caught by patrolling Japanese ships 00:16:24.95\00:16:28.78 as they searched for a forward and a return base. 00:16:28.82\00:16:32.72 They decided that the final randevu point for operation 00:16:32.75\00:16:37.53 Jaywick was Pompong Island a small uninhabited coral reef 00:16:37.56\00:16:42.76 Island in the Celebi Sea. 00:16:42.80\00:16:45.13 After navigating the islands around the Indonesian 00:16:45.17\00:16:49.87 Archipelago, the crew decided on Pandjang Island as a 00:16:49.90\00:16:54.64 canoe base for their mission. They landed a Pandjang Island 00:16:54.68\00:16:58.68 in the dead on night and anchored close to a small beach. 00:16:58.71\00:17:02.58 They managed to get themselves and their gear ashore 00:17:02.62\00:17:06.42 as quickly and as quietly as possible. 00:17:06.45\00:17:09.09 Captain Lyon was the last to leave the Krait and as he left, 00:17:09.12\00:17:14.20 he told the remaining crew on board that they were to 00:17:14.23\00:17:17.43 take the boat and return to Australia if the raiding party 00:17:17.47\00:17:21.50 didn't make it back to the rendezvous point on 00:17:21.54\00:17:24.57 Pompong Island. 00:17:24.61\00:17:25.94 Meanwhile on Panjang Island the raiders set up camp 00:17:25.97\00:17:31.25 and began preparing for the mission ahead. 00:17:31.28\00:17:34.05 They set up their three canoes and loaded supplies on board 00:17:34.08\00:17:39.02 including the limpit lines they would need for the mission. 00:17:39.05\00:17:43.59 Finally, in the dead of night the men got into their black 00:17:43.63\00:17:48.83 waterproof suits and smeared their faces with black dye 00:17:48.86\00:17:52.67 they then began their long canoe trip towards Singapore. 00:17:52.90\00:17:57.71 They paddled for hours before pulling their canoes ashore 00:17:57.74\00:18:02.31 on a small island where they could rest and wait for 00:18:02.34\00:18:06.08 nightfall. Then at nightfall they made their way back 00:18:06.11\00:18:11.39 into the ocean and began paddling once more. 00:18:11.42\00:18:14.32 On the 22nd of September they arrived at Donges Island 00:18:14.36\00:18:19.89 which they had chosen as their forward attack base. 00:18:19.93\00:18:22.93 From here they would launch out on the final leg of their 00:18:22.96\00:18:27.97 mission. On the night of the 26th of September, 1943 00:18:28.00\00:18:33.61 the men finally set off in their fall boats to paddle 00:18:33.64\00:18:37.61 the last 13 kilometers or eight miles for Singapore Harbor. 00:18:37.65\00:18:42.55 The men were camouflaged to prevent detection but didn't 00:18:42.58\00:18:47.42 quell their fears. When they entered the harbor it was 00:18:47.46\00:18:52.13 well-lit and bustling with activity, the men noticed 00:18:52.16\00:18:55.93 the Japanese soldiers patrolling the docks and then working on 00:18:55.96\00:18:59.97 vessels that were anchored there. 00:19:00.00\00:19:01.84 Staying in the shadows the three teams carefully navigated 00:19:01.87\00:19:07.34 their way alongside the big ships berth in the harbor. 00:19:07.38\00:19:10.78 Quietly they pulled up to the ships and took out their 00:19:10.81\00:19:15.42 limpet mines that they had brought with them. 00:19:15.45\00:19:17.52 Each two-man team had a total of nine limpet mines in their 00:19:17.55\00:19:22.46 possession with they were to attach to the hulls of the ships 00:19:22.49\00:19:26.03 anchored in the harbor. 00:19:26.06\00:19:27.96 Carefully, they attached the magnetic mines to the hulls 00:19:28.00\00:19:33.03 of seven ships and then turned around and hightailed it out of 00:19:33.07\00:19:37.87 the harbor. They paddled hard to reach their hideout on 00:19:37.91\00:19:41.88 Dongjis Island and arrived just before 5 a.m. on the 27th 00:19:41.91\00:19:47.12 of September. The mines had been set to detonate 00:19:47.15\00:19:51.69 at around 5 a.m. and the men had just enough time to 00:19:51.72\00:19:56.62 drag their canoes ashore before they heard the loud explosions 00:19:56.66\00:20:01.06 in the distance. At 5:15 a.m. a series of timed explosions 00:20:01.10\00:20:07.17 rocked the Singapore Harbor. The occupying Japanese forces 00:20:07.20\00:20:11.51 was stunned and they watched seven of their vessels burst 00:20:11.57\00:20:15.88 in the port, either sinking, destroyed, or damaged by the 00:20:15.91\00:20:20.68 blasts. The unexpected attack left the Japanese forces 00:20:20.72\00:20:25.69 reeling with shock. In total the six-man team managed to 00:20:25.72\00:20:32.13 damage or sink seven warships and 39,000 tons of Japanese 00:20:32.16\00:20:37.83 shipping. The offensive Operation Jaywick was a 00:20:37.87\00:20:42.60 resounding success and served to establish Zed Special Unit 00:20:42.64\00:20:47.44 as a formidable player in the realm of Covert Special Forces 00:20:47.48\00:20:52.45 Operations. 00:20:52.48\00:20:54.38 After months and months of training, weeks of traveling, 00:20:54.42\00:20:58.85 and hours and hours of frenzied paddling the men were elated 00:20:58.89\00:21:04.23 to realize that their mission against all odds had been 00:21:04.26\00:21:08.66 a resounding success. The team was able to make it 00:21:08.70\00:21:12.77 to Pompong Island where they were picked up by the Krait. 00:21:12.80\00:21:16.10 The entire crew made it safely back to Australia without 00:21:16.14\00:21:21.68 a scratch on them or their little fishing boat. 00:21:21.71\00:21:24.55 It was a moment of exhilarating victory. 00:21:24.58\00:21:28.48 The story of Operation Jaywick is a remarkable account of 00:21:28.52\00:21:33.96 courage and fortitude. The men of Operation Jaywick 00:21:33.99\00:21:37.86 were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for freedom 00:21:37.89\00:21:42.23 and the allies and their efforts were rewarded with success. 00:21:42.26\00:21:46.30 Operation Jaywick is a reminder that we're all involved in a 00:21:46.33\00:21:51.87 battle, the battle of life and in many ways the story of 00:21:51.91\00:21:57.38 Operation Jaywick echoes the story of the greatest battle 00:21:57.41\00:22:01.78 this universe has ever seen. 00:22:01.82\00:22:03.42 The last book of the Bible Revelation gives us an insight 00:22:03.45\00:22:09.16 into this battle and helps us to understand what is at stake. 00:22:09.19\00:22:13.09 Revelation Chapter 12:7 tells us... 00:22:13.13\00:22:17.03 The Bible describes a great cosmic conflict, 00:22:25.51\00:22:29.58 a great controversy between Christ and Satan that began 00:22:29.61\00:22:34.92 in heaven. Revelation 12 goes on to describe the outcome 00:22:34.95\00:22:39.92 of this conflict in verse 9. 00:22:39.95\00:22:42.56 The Bible tells us that Satan or Lucifer as he was known 00:22:56.34\00:23:01.84 was cast out of heaven to planet earth. Genesis 3 sheds more 00:23:01.88\00:23:08.92 light on what happened next as Satan plots to deceive Adam and 00:23:08.95\00:23:13.49 Eve and enlist them both in his war against God. 00:23:13.52\00:23:17.03 He does this by tempting them to blatantly disregard God's Word 00:23:17.06\00:23:22.86 to rebel against God. God had given guidelines and 00:23:22.90\00:23:28.30 principles to Adam and Eve advising them how to maximize 00:23:28.34\00:23:33.11 their fulfillment and happiness and plainly laid out the 00:23:33.14\00:23:36.64 consequences of disobedience to them. 00:23:36.68\00:23:40.32 Satan contradicted God, he told them that God was lying 00:23:40.35\00:23:45.42 to them and that by obeying God they would fail to reach their 00:23:45.45\00:23:50.03 potential of immortality. 00:23:50.06\00:23:52.39 Buying into Satan's lies Adam and Eve chose rebellion 00:23:52.43\00:23:57.97 against God in the hope that they would be able to attain 00:23:58.00\00:24:03.00 a higher state of being. Sadly by doing this they fell far 00:24:03.04\00:24:07.58 short of God's original plans for them and lost the freedom 00:24:07.61\00:24:12.11 and happiness God had intended for them. 00:24:12.15\00:24:14.82 In choosing to buy into Satan's lies Adam and Eve placed our 00:24:14.85\00:24:20.89 planet at the very center of the Great Controversy between 00:24:20.92\00:24:25.16 Christ and Satan and each of us as we go about our daily lives 00:24:25.19\00:24:31.23 find ourselves pitched into the center of this conflict. 00:24:31.27\00:24:34.94 We live in a battle zone mired in conflict in the midst of a 00:24:34.97\00:24:41.24 tug of war between the Word of God and the wiles of Satan. 00:24:41.28\00:24:45.95 A battle between the principles of God's law of self-sacrificing 00:24:45.98\00:24:51.49 love and Satan's ideals of selfishness and hate. 00:24:51.52\00:24:56.49 Like the men of Operation Jaywick we find ourselves as it 00:24:56.52\00:25:02.56 were on a small boat in a vast ocean sailing deep into enemy 00:25:02.60\00:25:07.54 territory vulnerable to imitate attack and like the men of 00:25:07.57\00:25:12.21 Operation Jaywick we need to prepare ourselves to do battle. 00:25:12.24\00:25:16.64 We need to arm ourselves with the weapons that are needed 00:25:16.68\00:25:20.95 in spiritual warfare, the Word of God, faith, and prayer. 00:25:20.98\00:25:26.72 The Word of God gives us a clear purpose and mission 00:25:26.76\00:25:31.29 clear instructions on how to engage the enemy and win the 00:25:31.33\00:25:35.56 battle. Prayer gives us a life line to our heavenly 00:25:35.60\00:25:39.93 Command Center where we can always be sure to find a 00:25:39.97\00:25:44.21 never-failing supply of heavenly strength to meet every 00:25:44.24\00:25:47.84 circumstance. And faith anchors us in the assurance of God's 00:25:47.88\00:25:53.82 saving grace helping us to stay afloat even in the midst 00:25:53.85\00:25:58.75 in the worst storms of life. 00:25:58.79\00:26:00.62 There is no safety for us in this war zone we find ourselves 00:26:00.66\00:26:04.99 in outside of Jesus, it is only through Jesus through the cross 00:26:05.03\00:26:11.30 through the certainty of His Word, the power of prayer, 00:26:11.33\00:26:15.24 and the steadfast anchor of faith in Him that we can safely 00:26:15.27\00:26:19.91 navigate our way safely out from behind enemy lines. 00:26:19.94\00:26:24.45 If you would like to find out more about the Cosmic Conflict 00:26:24.48\00:26:29.72 raging in our world today, if you would like to choose to 00:26:29.75\00:26:33.46 align yourself with God in this war-zone, 00:26:33.49\00:26:36.93 and find hope, peace, and happiness, then I'd like to 00:26:36.96\00:26:40.73 recommend a free gift we have for all our Incredible Journey 00:26:40.76\00:26:44.90 viewers today.
