I mean, excuse me, with Moses. 00:06:04.83\00:06:07.66 "In which time Moses was born, 00:06:07.70\00:06:09.66 and was exceedingly fair, 00:06:09.70\00:06:11.03 and nourished up in his father's house three months... " 00:06:11.07\00:06:13.54 verse 21, 00:06:13.60\00:06:15.07 "And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him 00:06:15.10\00:06:17.47 and so nourished him as her own son. " 00:06:17.51\00:06:19.51 Verse 22, 00:06:19.54\00:06:20.91 "And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, 00:06:20.94\00:06:23.68 and was mighty in words and in deeds. " 00:06:23.71\00:06:25.38 Verse 23, "And when he was fully forty years old... " 00:06:25.41\00:06:28.42 so, he's in Egypt... 00:06:28.45\00:06:29.78 as an Egyptian... raised as an Egyptian... 00:06:29.82\00:06:32.22 he comes to the age of 40 years old in the past 00:06:32.25\00:06:34.66 excuse me... "And it came into his heart to visit his brethren 00:06:34.69\00:06:38.36 the children of Israel. 00:06:38.39\00:06:39.73 And seeing one of them suffering wrong, he defended him, 00:06:39.76\00:06:41.36 and avenged him... him that was oppressed, 00:06:41.40\00:06:44.40 and smote the Egyptian. " 00:06:44.43\00:06:45.80 Verse 25, 00:06:45.83\00:06:47.34 "For he supposed his brethren would have understood 00:06:47.37\00:06:48.80 how that God by his hand would deliver them: 00:06:48.84\00:06:51.31 but they understood not. " 00:06:51.34\00:06:52.67 Verse 26, "The next day he shewed himself unto them 00:06:52.71\00:06:55.51 as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, 00:06:55.54\00:06:57.95 'Sirs, you are brethren; 00:06:57.98\00:06:59.48 why do ye wrong to one another?'" 00:06:59.51\00:07:00.85 Verse 27, "But he that did his neighbor wrong 00:07:00.88\00:07:03.49 thrust him away, saying, 00:07:03.52\00:07:04.85 'Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?" 00:07:04.89\00:07:06.92 Verse 28, "Wilt thou kill me, 00:07:06.96\00:07:09.92 as thou didst the Egyptian yesterday?" 00:07:09.96\00:07:12.63 Verse 29, "Then Moses at this saying, 00:07:12.66\00:07:15.70 Moses fled at this saying 00:07:15.73\00:07:17.20 and was in... was a stranger in the land of Midian, 00:07:17.23\00:07:20.54 where he begat two sons. " 00:07:20.57\00:07:21.90 So, he's in Egypt for 40 years... 00:07:21.94\00:07:23.34 and then as he comes to assist his brethren 00:07:23.37\00:07:27.14 and ends up killing the Egyptian, 00:07:27.18\00:07:28.94 and he's discovered... he takes off 00:07:28.98\00:07:30.71 and he's in the land of Midian where he has two sons 00:07:30.75\00:07:34.02 and then, verse 30 says, 00:07:34.05\00:07:35.62 "And when forty years were expired, 00:07:35.65\00:07:37.89 there appeared to him in the wilderness on the Mount Sinai 00:07:37.92\00:07:40.62 and angel of the Lord in a flame... 00:07:40.66\00:07:41.99 in a flame of fire in the bush. " 00:07:42.02\00:07:43.86 So, there's another 40 years... 00:07:43.89\00:07:45.46 you got your first 40 in Egypt, 00:07:45.49\00:07:46.96 then you got the second 40 at Midian. 00:07:47.00\00:07:48.50 Verse 31, "When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: 00:07:48.53\00:07:52.23 and as he drew near to behold it, 00:07:52.27\00:07:54.87 the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying, 00:07:54.90\00:07:56.67 'And I am the God of thy fathers, 00:07:56.71\00:07:58.91 the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, 00:07:58.94\00:08:00.38 and the God of Jacob. " 00:08:00.44\00:08:01.78 Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold. 00:08:01.81\00:08:04.35 And then said the Lord unto him, 00:08:04.38\00:08:06.82 'Put off they shoes from off thy feet: 00:08:06.85\00:08:08.45 for the place wherein I stand is holy ground. 00:08:08.48\00:08:10.15 I have seen... '" verse 34, 00:08:10.19\00:08:12.49 "I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, 00:08:12.52\00:08:14.52 and I have heard their groaning 00:08:14.56\00:08:16.09 and am come down to deliver them. 00:08:16.12\00:08:17.49 And now come, I will send thee unto Egypt. " 00:08:17.53\00:08:21.30 And verse 35, so... 00:08:21.33\00:08:22.96 "This Moses they refused saying, 00:08:23.00\00:08:24.70 'who made thee a ruler and a judge?' 00:08:24.73\00:08:26.23 the same God did send to be a ruler and a deliverer 00:08:26.27\00:08:29.27 by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. " 00:08:29.30\00:08:31.47 Verse 36, "Then He brought them out, 00:08:31.54\00:08:33.68 after that, he had showed wonders and signs in the land of 00:08:33.71\00:08:36.28 Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years. " 00:08:36.31\00:08:39.08 So, there is the last 40 years, Cyndi, 00:08:39.11\00:08:41.58 you've got the 40 years in Egypt, 00:08:41.62\00:08:42.95 you got the 40 years in Midian 00:08:42.98\00:08:44.59 and then you've got the 40 years in the wilderness 00:08:44.62\00:08:46.59 and so, the Bible tells us that Moses was fourscore 00:08:46.62\00:08:50.09 or 80 years old when he went back to Egypt 00:08:50.13\00:08:52.36 to deliver God's people... that's Exodus 7 verse 7 00:08:52.39\00:08:55.43 and then the Bible says that Moses was a 120 years old 00:08:55.46\00:08:58.47 when he died 00:08:58.50\00:08:59.83 his eyes weren't dim, nor his natural force abated. " 00:08:59.87\00:09:02.27 That was Deuteronomy 34 verse 7. 00:09:02.30\00:09:05.41 That's all the verses... lays it out. 00:09:05.44\00:09:07.78 Greg: Amen, excellent, thank you so much, Pastor James. 00:09:07.81\00:09:10.55 Pastor Ryan, good question here, this one also comes from Sindy, 00:09:10.61\00:09:15.25 a different spelling. Ryan: Okay. 00:09:15.28\00:09:16.62 Greg: But hers is with an "S" but the question here: 00:09:16.65\00:09:19.82 At the second coming of our Lord Jesus, 00:09:19.85\00:09:22.26 the wicked are asking for the rocks to fall on them. 00:09:22.29\00:09:25.09 What eventually happens to them? 00:09:25.13\00:09:27.06 Do they go back to the grave and await their Master 00:09:27.10\00:09:30.50 who after a 1,000 years comes out 00:09:30.53\00:09:32.37 and tries to take the New Jerusalem? 00:09:32.40\00:09:34.20 Ryan: Okay, so the simple answer to this 00:09:34.24\00:09:36.60 is that they're destroyed... okay, 00:09:36.67\00:09:38.04 I'm going to back that up with Scripture now. 00:09:38.07\00:09:39.41 This is what Jesus is referencing 00:09:39.44\00:09:40.78 in both Matthew 24 and Luke chapter 17. 00:09:40.84\00:09:44.45 I'm not going to read all the verses in Matthew 24 00:09:44.51\00:09:46.72 but for the sake of time, I'm going to start in Luke 17 00:09:46.75\00:09:49.08 and we're going to read verses 26 through 30. 00:09:49.12\00:09:51.59 Notice what it says here, it says, 00:09:51.62\00:09:52.95 "As in the days of Noah, 00:09:52.99\00:09:54.32 so shall also in the days of the Son of Man: 00:09:54.36\00:09:57.89 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, 00:09:57.93\00:10:00.16 they were given in marriage, 00:10:00.20\00:10:01.53 until the day Noah entered the ark, 00:10:01.56\00:10:02.90 and the flood came... " notice... 00:10:02.93\00:10:04.43 "and... " what did it say? 00:10:04.47\00:10:05.83 "destroyed them all. " 00:10:05.87\00:10:07.20 This is speaking of the wicked, right, 00:10:07.24\00:10:08.57 "Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot, 00:10:08.60\00:10:10.41 they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, 00:10:10.44\00:10:12.67 they planted, they builded 00:10:12.71\00:10:14.58 but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom 00:10:14.61\00:10:16.75 it rained fire and brimstone from heaven... " 00:10:16.78\00:10:18.31 and... there it is again... 00:10:18.38\00:10:20.15 "the wicked... it destroyed them all. 00:10:20.18\00:10:21.82 Even so shall it be when the Son of Man is revealed. " 00:10:21.85\00:10:25.39 So, these men that are crying for the rocks to fall on them, 00:10:25.42\00:10:28.49 this is within the context of... of Revelation chapter 6 00:10:28.52\00:10:31.59 in the sixth seal... the second coming of Jesus. 00:10:31.63\00:10:33.66 They're calling for the rocks to fall on them 00:10:33.70\00:10:35.56 because they are ashamed of the fact 00:10:35.60\00:10:36.93 that they rejected Jesus Christ 00:10:36.97\00:10:38.30 and now they're meeting their ultimate demise 00:10:38.33\00:10:41.07 which is... their life is being taken from them. 00:10:41.10\00:10:43.20 Now, it's interesting... Luke 17 passed this 00:10:43.24\00:10:45.31 when you read verses 34 to 37... 00:10:45.34\00:10:47.34 still within the context of this destruction of the wicked, 00:10:47.38\00:10:50.08 Jesus goes on to say... 00:10:50.11\00:10:51.45 you know, there will be two men in one bed... 00:10:51.48\00:10:53.28 one will be taken... one will be left... 00:10:53.31\00:10:54.72 there will be two women grinding together, 00:10:54.75\00:10:56.08 one will be taken... one will be left. 00:10:56.12\00:10:57.45 There will be two men in one field... 00:10:57.49\00:10:58.82 one will be left... one will be taken 00:10:58.85\00:11:00.19 and then the disciples ask this interesting question, 00:11:00.22\00:11:01.56 they say, "Where Lord?" 00:11:01.59\00:11:02.92 And, of course, they're referencing 00:11:02.96\00:11:04.56 where are those taken 00:11:04.59\00:11:05.93 and those people that are taken 00:11:05.96\00:11:07.60 is that their lives are being taken. 00:11:07.66\00:11:09.56 We know that because of Jesus' response. 00:11:09.60\00:11:11.47 In verse 37, He goes on to say, 00:11:11.50\00:11:14.47 "Where the body is, 00:11:14.50\00:11:15.84 there will the eagles be gathered together. " 00:11:15.87\00:11:17.94 Now, if you look at verse 28 in Matthew 24 00:11:17.97\00:11:20.18 which is the equivalent verse, 00:11:20.21\00:11:21.54 Jesus actually says, "For wheresoever the carcass is, 00:11:21.58\00:11:25.01 there will the eagles be gathered together. " 00:11:25.05\00:11:26.38 What's a carcass? 00:11:26.41\00:11:27.75 A carcass is obviously a dead body 00:11:27.78\00:11:29.22 so, what's happening at the second coming of Jesus 00:11:29.25\00:11:31.25 when these men in those moments... 00:11:31.29\00:11:33.25 in those fearful horrific moments 00:11:33.29\00:11:35.19 when they're realizing what is happening... 00:11:35.22\00:11:37.03 that they didn't give their life to Jesus 00:11:37.06\00:11:38.76 that they did not serve Him and abide in Him in their life, 00:11:38.79\00:11:41.66 they're realizing what's happening 00:11:41.70\00:11:43.13 and they would just the rocks crush them 00:11:43.16\00:11:44.93 than have to face the Lamb of God 00:11:44.97\00:11:47.00 who's returning to get them. 00:11:47.04\00:11:48.37 And so, that's why in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2, 00:11:48.40\00:11:51.27 Paul, writing again about the second coming of Jesus 00:11:51.31\00:11:54.18 and the redemption of God's people... 00:11:54.24\00:11:55.94 in verse 8, he says there, 00:11:55.98\00:11:57.48 this is 2nd Thessalonians 2 verse 8, 00:11:57.51\00:11:59.11 "And then shall that wicked be revealed, 00:11:59.15\00:12:00.85 whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, 00:12:00.88\00:12:03.75 and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming. " 00:12:03.79\00:12:06.55 We see this within the context of the seventh and final plague 00:12:06.59\00:12:09.89 there in Revelation chapter 16 where it says that 00:12:09.92\00:12:12.36 there in verse 21, it says, 00:12:12.39\00:12:13.73 "And there fell upon men great hail out of heaven, 00:12:13.76\00:12:15.80 every stone about the weight of a talent: 00:12:15.83\00:12:17.30 and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; 00:12:17.33\00:12:19.70 for the plague thereof was exceedingly great. " 00:12:19.73\00:12:21.84 This is destruction... there are many, many texts, 00:12:21.87\00:12:24.47 go read Isaiah chapter 24... Jeremiah chapter 4... 00:12:24.51\00:12:27.08 talking about the return of the Lord, 00:12:27.11\00:12:29.21 the wicked did not go on to live 00:12:29.24\00:12:31.31 as some might believe for seven years of tribulation, 00:12:31.35\00:12:34.02 but rather, they're destroyed at the second coming of Jesus. 00:12:34.05\00:12:36.69 Greg: Hmmm... amen... thank you very much, Pastor Ryan. 00:12:36.75\00:12:39.69 Shelley, this question/comment comes from Patricia 00:12:39.72\00:12:42.62 from New York 00:12:42.66\00:12:43.99 and it really is a tragic... tragic question. 00:12:44.03\00:12:46.59 It says, "My son suddenly passed away two years ago 00:12:46.63\00:12:50.60 and it's been devastating. 00:12:50.63\00:12:51.97 I'm very worried about his salvation 00:12:52.00\00:12:54.40 and so I pray to God to have mercy on him. 00:12:54.44\00:12:56.54 In Exodus chapter 33 verse 19, the Lord said... 00:12:56.57\00:13:00.58 and this is God speaking... 00:13:00.61\00:13:01.94 "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy. " 00:13:01.98\00:13:05.31 My nephew goes to a Pentecost church 00:13:05.35\00:13:07.62 and claims to speak in tongues 00:13:07.65\00:13:09.08 and said that to... and said to me 00:13:09.12\00:13:11.39 that when people die, they go to heaven or hell right away 00:13:11.42\00:13:13.59 and that me praying for my son is equal to doing witchcraft. 00:13:13.62\00:13:17.66 I disagree 00:13:17.69\00:13:19.16 but is there anything you can tell me about it? 00:13:19.19\00:13:21.96 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:13:22.00\00:13:23.33 Shelley: Patricia, first I just want to say... 00:13:23.37\00:13:25.27 my heart breaks for you. 00:13:25.30\00:13:26.63 I can't imagine anything worse than losing a child 00:13:26.67\00:13:29.84 and the grief that follows that. 00:13:29.90\00:13:31.57 But I hope you have a pen and a paper 00:13:31.61\00:13:33.78 because the answer I am going to give you... 00:13:33.84\00:13:35.71 I want you to write all these Scripture references down 00:13:35.74\00:13:39.08 so that you can look them up 00:13:39.11\00:13:40.62 and be assured it's a Biblical answer. 00:13:40.68\00:13:42.62 In Exodus 33:19 God says, 00:13:42.65\00:13:45.55 "I'll have mercy on whom I'll have mercy. " 00:13:45.59\00:13:47.56 You have to look in context... 00:13:47.59\00:13:49.26 He is speaking to a people who have broken His covenant 00:13:49.32\00:13:52.56 and... and they're no longer in relationship with God 00:13:52.59\00:13:55.80 but He forgives them 00:13:55.83\00:13:57.47 and when He does it's still... 00:13:57.50\00:13:59.80 when He renews the relationship 00:13:59.83\00:14:02.00 it's still requiring the same conditions 00:14:02.04\00:14:05.04 and obedience as before 00:14:05.07\00:14:07.18 and He still asked them to obey his covenant law. 00:14:07.24\00:14:12.51 Now, let me say something, 00:14:12.55\00:14:13.88 I don't believe your nephew's opinion is Scriptural at all. 00:14:13.92\00:14:18.19 Here is the Scriptures I want you to write down: 00:14:18.25\00:14:22.12 in 1st Timothy 6:16 the Bible says, 00:14:22.16\00:14:25.16 "God alone has immortality right now. " 00:14:25.19\00:14:29.13 1st John 5:11 and 12, it's talking about 00:14:29.16\00:14:32.97 that God has given eternal life to those who have the Son. 00:14:33.00\00:14:38.64 If you are in Christ, it says, "He who has the Son has life, 00:14:38.67\00:14:44.28 he who does not have the Son does not have life. " 00:14:44.31\00:14:48.48 So, it's something that we secure during our earthly life, 00:14:48.55\00:14:52.05 but we fully realize after the resurrection. 00:14:52.09\00:14:55.52 1st Corinthians 15:51 through 54 explains 00:14:55.56\00:14:58.93 that when Christ returns at the sound of the trumpet, 00:14:58.96\00:15:03.57 that's when we put on immortality if we are a believer 00:15:03.63\00:15:08.20 as we come up in the first resurrection 00:15:08.24\00:15:11.67 and John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29, 00:15:11.71\00:15:14.48 Jesus said, "Don't marvel at this, 00:15:14.51\00:15:17.25 there's a day that is coming 00:15:17.28\00:15:18.88 that all who are in their grave will hear His voice. 00:15:18.91\00:15:22.28 Some will come forward to the resurrection of life. 00:15:22.32\00:15:25.62 Others come forward to the resurrection of condemnation. 00:15:25.65\00:15:30.63 Those are separated by a 1,000 years. 00:15:30.66\00:15:33.46 Ecclesiastes chapter 9... 00:15:33.50\00:15:37.23 Ecclesiastes... let me say that one again, 00:15:37.27\00:15:40.90 Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verses 5 and 10 are two mini Scriptures 00:15:40.94\00:15:47.01 that talk about when we are dead... 00:15:47.04\00:15:51.41 we have an unconscious sleep. 00:15:51.45\00:15:53.78 And, you know, I love this Scripture 00:15:53.82\00:15:56.28 in 1st Corinthians 15:17 and 18, 00:15:56.32\00:15:59.05 Paul is telling the people who... 00:15:59.09\00:16:01.69 some were telling him, "Oh, Christ isn't resurrected. " 00:16:01.79\00:16:05.03 He says, "Hey if Christ isn't risen, your faith is futile; 00:16:05.06\00:16:08.26 and all who have fallen asleep... " 00:16:08.30\00:16:10.77 that's a metaphor for death... 00:16:10.80\00:16:13.13 "in Christ have perished. " 00:16:13.17\00:16:15.44 So, he didn't see people up in heaven... 00:16:15.47\00:16:17.64 he knew there was no life until the resurrection. 00:16:17.67\00:16:20.51 But now, here is the difficult thing to tell you 00:16:20.54\00:16:23.31 and I will soften it at the end. 00:16:23.35\00:16:25.91 There's no opportunity after death 00:16:25.98\00:16:28.55 to have a second chance of salvation. 00:16:28.58\00:16:31.09 We have already determined our destiny before we die. 00:16:31.12\00:16:35.36 Hebrews 9:27 says, 00:16:35.39\00:16:37.79 "It is appointed for men to die once, 00:16:37.83\00:16:40.46 but after this the judgment. " 00:16:40.50\00:16:41.83 There's no purgatory... that is a pagan philosophy. 00:16:41.86\00:16:45.77 There's no hellfire till the end of the earth 00:16:45.80\00:16:50.14 when God will create a Lake of Fire on the earth 00:16:50.17\00:16:54.44 and in Revelation 20 verses 14 and 15, 00:16:54.48\00:16:59.81 that fire is referred to 00:16:59.85\00:17:02.08 as the second death. 00:17:02.12\00:17:04.35 Anyone whose name is not in the Book of Life... 00:17:04.39\00:17:06.76 it is a second death. 00:17:06.79\00:17:09.36 They're ashes... they are totally destroyed. 00:17:09.42\00:17:12.19 So, here is what I want to tell you. 00:17:12.23\00:17:14.00 Your son is in the grave... 00:17:14.06\00:17:15.40 he is unconscious... awaiting... 00:17:15.43\00:17:17.87 you don't know what he did the last second... 00:17:17.90\00:17:20.04 he could have been like the thief on the cross 00:17:20.07\00:17:22.17 and accepted Christ 00:17:22.20\00:17:23.77 but if he rejected God, your son would not be happy in heaven... 00:17:23.81\00:17:30.51 he would prefer to perish. 00:17:30.55\00:17:32.55 Greg: Hmmm... wow... thank you Shelley 00:17:32.61\00:17:34.65 and thank you for all the Scripture references, 00:17:34.68\00:17:36.02 you know, as well... and Patricia... 00:17:36.05\00:17:38.05 it's a great answer. 00:17:38.09\00:17:39.42 Patricia, we want you to know that all of us here at 3ABN... 00:17:39.45\00:17:42.86 will continue to lift you up in prayer 00:17:42.89\00:17:44.23 because a loss like that... 00:17:44.26\00:17:45.59 as Shelley mentioned... a loss of a child is so devastating 00:17:45.63\00:17:48.06 so, we will continue to pray for you in that loss. 00:17:48.10\00:17:50.80 Pastor James, a question here from Melinda from Michigan. 00:17:50.83\00:17:55.27 James: Okay. 00:17:55.30\00:17:56.64 Greg: And, the book of James... 00:17:56.67\00:17:58.21 it's fit into your name, isn't it, 00:17:58.24\00:17:59.97 okay, "So, the book of James... 00:18:00.04\00:18:01.74 the book of James 00:18:01.78\00:18:04.71 says, we ought to confess our sins to one another. 00:18:04.78\00:18:07.98 Would that read better as confess our 'faults' 00:18:08.02\00:18:11.12 to each other 00:18:11.15\00:18:12.49 as our 'sins' are to be confessed to God 00:18:12.52\00:18:14.22 and God alone?" 00:18:14.26\00:18:15.66 James: All right, Melinda in Michigan, 00:18:15.69\00:18:17.96 yes, that would be a great translation... faults not sins, 00:18:17.99\00:18:21.86 in fact, the translation of the KJV 00:18:21.93\00:18:25.40 is really good in relation to this, 00:18:25.43\00:18:27.84 you know, being raised a Catholic, 00:18:27.87\00:18:29.97 I'm sensitive to this issue because 00:18:30.01\00:18:32.07 I was raised... going to church... 00:18:32.11\00:18:34.08 and confessing sins to another man... a priest, 00:18:34.11\00:18:36.95 in order to get absolution or forgiveness. 00:18:36.98\00:18:39.85 so I recognize the sensitivity of this issue. 00:18:39.88\00:18:42.72 The word "faults" is actually translated 00:18:42.75\00:18:45.65 from a different Greek word... it means to slide or slip 00:18:45.69\00:18:50.23 excuse me... to slide... slip... 00:18:50.26\00:18:52.16 unintentional error or transgression. 00:18:52.19\00:18:55.03 "Sin" has a completely different origin than "faults. " 00:18:55.06\00:18:58.70 It means... to miss the mark or to sin. 00:18:58.73\00:19:01.14 So... but with that said, however, 00:19:01.20\00:19:03.54 I don't want to place too much emphasis on the Greek. 00:19:03.57\00:19:07.81 There's a lot of times we can get misdirected 00:19:07.84\00:19:11.51 when we place a lot of emphasis on Greek translations... 00:19:11.55\00:19:14.72 Greek words... especially when we consider 00:19:14.78\00:19:16.79 that the Greek word for "faults" 00:19:16.82\00:19:18.32 in James 5:16 is used in a number of places 00:19:18.35\00:19:21.89 in the New Testament for sin and for transgression 00:19:21.92\00:19:24.63 and for offenses that are forgiven by Christ. 00:19:24.66\00:19:26.70 So, we don't want to say, 00:19:26.73\00:19:28.66 "Wow! this is really talking about sin and transgression. 00:19:28.70\00:19:31.37 In James chapter 5... 00:19:31.40\00:19:33.03 it's just talking about something a little different. " 00:19:33.07\00:19:35.40 There is a little bit of nuance there with the Greek 00:19:35.44\00:19:37.71 but the more significant point that is being made by James 00:19:37.74\00:19:41.44 is that while our sins are to be confessed to God alone, 00:19:41.51\00:19:45.11 who is the only one who can actually forgive us our sins 00:19:45.15\00:19:48.75 on salvational level, 00:19:48.78\00:19:50.29 if those sins are committed against individuals, 00:19:50.32\00:19:53.36 we should ask those individuals for forgiveness also. 00:19:53.39\00:19:57.56 That's the process of confession... 00:19:57.59\00:19:59.89 we need to personally go to individuals 00:19:59.93\00:20:02.20 that we may have sinned against and ask them to forgive us. 00:20:02.23\00:20:04.30 Now, note this point with care, 00:20:04.33\00:20:06.57 When you ask an individual to forgive you, 00:20:06.60\00:20:09.44 that's not a salvational level, 00:20:09.47\00:20:10.91 an individual can never forgive you on a salvational level. 00:20:10.94\00:20:14.48 Only God can forgive us on a salvational level. 00:20:14.51\00:20:18.45 Greg: Excellent... thank you so very much Pastor James, 00:20:18.48\00:20:21.95 great answer. 00:20:21.98\00:20:23.32 You know, it's so comforting to find answers from God's Word. 00:20:23.35\00:20:26.02 Panel: That's right... yeah... 00:20:26.05\00:20:27.39 Greg: Something we can stand on 00:20:27.42\00:20:28.76 and going back to that question that the lady had... Patricia... 00:20:28.79\00:20:31.19 do you know we can trust in the Righteous Judge too, right, 00:20:31.23\00:20:34.13 God knows everything, yeah, so praise the Lord, thank you, 00:20:34.16\00:20:36.77 great answer. 00:20:36.80\00:20:38.13 Let's see, Pastor Ryan, this is... 00:20:38.17\00:20:41.00 this person is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 00:20:41.04\00:20:43.64 and it's a beautiful name and I... 00:20:43.67\00:20:45.64 I don't know, trying to pronounce this here, 00:20:45.67\00:20:47.74 you can help me out on this Pastor Ryan, 00:20:47.81\00:20:50.78 looks like Sephan... Sus... Sysouphanh... 00:20:50.81\00:20:53.38 beautiful name though from Philadelphia. 00:20:53.42\00:20:55.95 What do you think, Pastor Ryan? 00:20:55.98\00:20:57.32 Ryan: I think that's... I think you did a good job... 00:20:57.35\00:20:59.05 something like that. 00:20:59.09\00:21:00.42 Greg: Yeah but thank you so much for submitting, 00:21:00.46\00:21:01.89 great question here: 00:21:01.92\00:21:03.32 Do you guys think it's wrong to excommunicate sinful people 00:21:03.36\00:21:06.86 from the church? 00:21:06.90\00:21:08.23 Therefore, if we follow the Holy Bible 00:21:08.26\00:21:10.73 and the examples of Jesus Christ 00:21:10.77\00:21:12.80 shouldn't the church follow the Biblical truth 00:21:12.83\00:21:15.00 and let the Lord Jesus Christ do the sifting and gathering? 00:21:15.07\00:21:18.57 Why do churches put guilt, shame and condemnation 00:21:18.61\00:21:22.58 on the people who are already spiritually lacking? 00:21:22.61\00:21:25.15 Ryan: Okay, all right, so, 00:21:25.18\00:21:27.05 first of all, I want to say straight up 00:21:27.08\00:21:28.82 we should always... and I think the church absolutely 00:21:28.85\00:21:31.95 should always seek for a redemptive plan of restoration. 00:21:31.99\00:21:35.69 We should always be as gracious and forgiving as Jesus is, right 00:21:35.72\00:21:40.10 but nonetheless, we also have to keep in mind 00:21:40.16\00:21:42.30 that even the God of the universe had to excommunicate 00:21:42.36\00:21:45.77 or banish or disfellowship someone from his own kingdom. 00:21:45.80\00:21:49.20 We know that was Lucifer 00:21:49.24\00:21:50.57 along with one-third of the fallen angels from heaven, 00:21:50.61\00:21:52.67 but that did not come before Christ had provided 00:21:52.71\00:21:55.38 an opportunity... sufficient time 00:21:55.41\00:21:57.31 for Lucifer and those angels to repent 00:21:57.35\00:21:59.55 and to confess and to be brought back into the fold. 00:21:59.58\00:22:02.15 But that being said, the direct answer to your question here 00:22:02.18\00:22:05.39 "Do we think that it's wrong to excommunicate 00:22:05.42\00:22:07.69 or in this case to disfellowship sinful people from the church? 00:22:07.72\00:22:10.19 There are appropriate times when the Bible does counsel us 00:22:10.23\00:22:13.90 indeed to do that when it's extreme cases. 00:22:13.93\00:22:16.77 For instance, when a person is habitually committing open sin 00:22:16.80\00:22:20.94 before the brethren 00:22:21.00\00:22:22.34 potentially causing stumbling block 00:22:22.37\00:22:23.71 or in this case 00:22:23.74\00:22:25.07 maybe even dividing the flock of the church. 00:22:25.11\00:22:26.61 That's when we have to practice Matthew chapter 18... 00:22:26.64\00:22:29.04 the counsel given there. 00:22:29.08\00:22:30.41 Matthew 18 verses 15 through 17 says, 00:22:30.45\00:22:32.31 "Moreover if your brother sins against you, 00:22:32.35\00:22:34.65 go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. 00:22:34.68\00:22:37.19 If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 00:22:37.22\00:22:39.22 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more" 00:22:39.25\00:22:43.06 that's Elders... Pastor from the church, 00:22:43.09\00:22:45.39 but, notice that by the mouth of two or three witnesses 00:22:45.43\00:22:48.00 every word may be established. 00:22:48.03\00:22:49.40 But then comes verse 17, 00:22:49.43\00:22:50.77 "And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. 00:22:50.80\00:22:53.44 But if he refuses even to hear the church, 00:22:53.47\00:22:55.40 let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. " 00:22:55.44\00:22:58.77 Look at the... at the... 00:22:58.81\00:23:00.14 back at the culture of Jesus' day 00:23:00.18\00:23:03.51 even the tax collector... they were... 00:23:03.55\00:23:05.61 they were separate from everyone else... 00:23:05.65\00:23:07.65 they were considered as on the low end of the totem pole. 00:23:07.68\00:23:10.49 In other words, they were... 00:23:10.52\00:23:11.85 they would keep themselves distanced from these people. 00:23:11.89\00:23:13.82 Also, in 1st Corinthians chapter 5 00:23:13.86\00:23:16.29 there's a lot to be said here where Paul writes, 00:23:16.32\00:23:18.16 in just the opening first five verses, notice what he says, 00:23:18.19\00:23:21.03 1st Corinthians 5 verses 1 through 5, 00:23:21.06\00:23:22.96 "It is actually reported... " 00:23:23.00\00:23:24.70 this is Paul speaking to the church... 00:23:24.73\00:23:26.40 he said, "It is reported that there is sexual immorality 00:23:26.43\00:23:28.64 among you, and such sexual immorality 00:23:28.67\00:23:31.44 as is not even named among the Gentiles... 00:23:31.47\00:23:34.48 that a man has his father's wife! 00:23:34.51\00:23:36.78 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, 00:23:36.81\00:23:39.55 that he who has... " notice... 00:23:39.58\00:23:41.12 "done this deed 00:23:41.15\00:23:42.48 might be taken away from among you. " 00:23:42.52\00:23:44.89 Okay, and he goes on to say, 00:23:44.92\00:23:46.72 "For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, 00:23:46.76\00:23:49.62 have already judged... as though I were present... 00:23:49.66\00:23:51.86 him who has so done this deed. " 00:23:51.89\00:23:53.96 He goes on to say, 00:23:54.00\00:23:55.33 "In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 00:23:55.36\00:23:56.70 when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, 00:23:56.73\00:23:58.97 with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 00:23:59.00\00:24:00.64 deliver such a one to Satan 00:24:00.67\00:24:03.74 for the destruction of the flesh, 00:24:03.77\00:24:05.41 that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. " 00:24:05.44\00:24:08.84 And then he goes on down a few more verses 00:24:08.88\00:24:11.28 in verses 9 through 13, 00:24:11.31\00:24:12.68 and again, all of this is in 1st Corinthians chapter 5, 00:24:12.71\00:24:15.18 so, now you go down to verses 9 through 13, 00:24:15.22\00:24:17.29 and he talks about... 00:24:17.32\00:24:18.65 how... he says, "I wrote to you in my epistle 00:24:18.69\00:24:20.36 not to keep company with sexually immoral people... " 00:24:20.39\00:24:22.96 and then he... down in verse 11 he says, 00:24:23.02\00:24:25.09 "but now I've written to you not to keep company with anyone 00:24:25.13\00:24:27.90 named a brother... " 00:24:27.93\00:24:29.26 he's talking about a brother in the church... 00:24:29.30\00:24:30.63 your... your brother in Christ, so, a member of the church... 00:24:30.67\00:24:33.34 he goes on to describe, "who is sexually immoral, 00:24:33.37\00:24:35.67 or covetous, or an idolater, 00:24:35.70\00:24:37.21 or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner... 00:24:37.24\00:24:39.57 not even to eat with such a person. " 00:24:39.61\00:24:41.28 He says, "Don't even eat with them. " 00:24:41.31\00:24:42.74 "For what have I to do with judging those who... 00:24:42.78\00:24:45.68 who are outside? 00:24:45.71\00:24:47.05 Do you not judge those who are inside? 00:24:47.08\00:24:50.02 But those who are outside God judges. " 00:24:50.09\00:24:52.72 And then he says, 00:24:52.75\00:24:54.09 "Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person. " 00:24:54.12\00:24:57.03 So, are there opportunities in Scripture 00:24:57.06\00:24:58.73 that the Scripture counsels us 00:24:58.79\00:25:01.00 that there may be times when we have to 00:25:01.06\00:25:02.76 make these tough decisions and say, "Brother" or "Sister, 00:25:02.80\00:25:05.33 we've given you opportunity to change... to repent... 00:25:05.37\00:25:07.90 but you are... you are rebellious. " 00:25:07.94\00:25:09.44 Sometimes we have to be brought to those situations... 00:25:09.47\00:25:11.77 just a couple of Scriptures I'm going to reference here 00:25:11.81\00:25:13.88 in the last 20 seconds, I have... I'm not going to read it 00:25:13.94\00:25:15.98 but read what Romans chapter 16 verses 17 through 20 00:25:16.01\00:25:19.48 where he talks about noting those 00:25:19.51\00:25:20.92 who cause divisions and offenses within the Brethren 00:25:20.95\00:25:23.65 and then, of course, Acts chapter 20 verses 28 to 30, 00:25:23.69\00:25:26.29 remember Paul talks about... we are overseers of God's church 00:25:26.32\00:25:29.52 and that we have to protect those who come in as wolves 00:25:29.56\00:25:32.13 to divide the flock. 00:25:32.16\00:25:33.50 So, yes, there are appropriate times 00:25:33.53\00:25:34.96 in which we have to take these actions. 00:25:35.00\00:25:36.33 Greg: Hmmm... yeah... excellent explanation on that 00:25:36.36\00:25:38.03 and I would like to say at the beginning too, Pastor Ryan, 00:25:38.07\00:25:40.14 that is... deal redemptively that's the first... 00:25:40.17\00:25:42.57 absolutely... praise the Lord. 00:25:42.60\00:25:44.51 Very good... good question too. 00:25:44.54\00:25:46.98 Sister Shelley, this person asks: 00:25:47.01\00:25:49.41 Am I sinning if I don't take part in foot washing, 00:25:49.44\00:25:53.28 but in the bread and grape juice only? 00:25:53.31\00:25:56.48 I don't mind washing someone else's feet 00:25:56.52\00:25:58.59 but I'm embarrassed to let anyone see mine? 00:25:58.62\00:26:02.42 Shelley: Okay, let me just say this, 00:26:02.46\00:26:04.66 I remember like it was yesterday my first foot-washing service 00:26:04.69\00:26:09.20 and I was so happy to stoop and wash the feet of an 90-year old 00:26:09.23\00:26:13.70 matriarchal saint in the church. 00:26:13.74\00:26:15.54 But boy! when she washed mine, it was humbling. 00:26:15.57\00:26:19.64 It was an interesting experience. 00:26:19.67\00:26:22.28 In John 13:5 through 10, at the Last Supper 00:26:22.34\00:26:26.35 when Jesus instituted the Ordinance of Communion. 00:26:26.38\00:26:31.89 What He did is He poured water in a basin, 00:26:31.92\00:26:34.22 put a towel around His waist 00:26:34.26\00:26:35.86 and then He's going around and washing the disciples' feet. 00:26:35.89\00:26:40.23 This was a servant's task... 00:26:40.26\00:26:43.63 He gets to Peter... 00:26:43.67\00:26:45.00 Peter says, "Oh no Lord, 00:26:45.03\00:26:46.47 You're not going to wash my feet... never. " 00:26:46.50\00:26:49.37 And He says, "Hey if I don't wash your feet, 00:26:49.40\00:26:52.24 you have no part in me. " 00:26:52.27\00:26:54.54 Now, Peter goes to the extreme and says, 00:26:54.58\00:26:56.78 "Oh, well... not just my feet... but my head also... 00:26:56.81\00:26:59.51 wash me all over. " 00:26:59.55\00:27:01.52 And so, Jesus answers, 00:27:01.55\00:27:03.45 "He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, 00:27:03.49\00:27:06.05 he is completely clean; 00:27:06.09\00:27:07.86 and you are clean, but not all of you. " 00:27:07.89\00:27:10.53 Now, let me explain this, 00:27:10.56\00:27:11.89 the service of foot washing is something that symbolizes 00:27:11.93\00:27:17.23 cleaning after we have been baptized. 00:27:17.27\00:27:21.70 It's a symbolic thing. 00:27:21.74\00:27:23.34 Baptism is like our justification by faith... 00:27:23.41\00:27:26.61 foot washing is like sanctification by faith 00:27:26.64\00:27:29.81 because they were clean and we're clean 00:27:29.84\00:27:33.08 but our daily walk our feet get sullied. 00:27:33.11\00:27:36.28 So, the act of washing your feet is meant to humble us 00:27:36.32\00:27:42.12 and it is the perfect preparatory part 00:27:42.16\00:27:46.90 of Communion Service 00:27:46.93\00:27:48.26 but I have to say, 00:27:48.30\00:27:49.63 it only has merit if we've already confessed our sins 00:27:49.66\00:27:53.80 before the Lord. 00:27:53.84\00:27:55.40 John 13:14, Jesus said in this same context, 00:27:55.44\00:28:01.64 "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, 00:28:01.68\00:28:05.31 you also ought to wash one another's feet. " 00:28:05.35\00:28:10.35 In the Greek, that word "ought" is obligatory... 00:28:10.39\00:28:14.06 you are obliged... 00:28:14.09\00:28:15.49 you are... you owe it as a duty to do this 00:28:15.52\00:28:19.76 and then He says in verse 15, John 13:15, 00:28:19.79\00:28:23.97 "For I have given you an example, 00:28:24.00\00:28:25.63 that you should do as I have done for you. " 00:28:25.67\00:28:29.40 And as I said, this is a beautiful preparatory part 00:28:29.44\00:28:32.94 of a Communion Service. 00:28:32.97\00:28:34.84 The one who stoops to wash the feet 00:28:34.91\00:28:37.81 following in Jesus' footsteps. 00:28:37.85\00:28:39.85 The one whose feet are washed, they are humbled 00:28:39.88\00:28:44.05 and He says in verse 17, 00:28:44.09\00:28:46.45 "If you know these things, 00:28:46.49\00:28:47.99 blessed are you if you do them. " 00:28:48.02\00:28:50.43 So, here's what I want to say to you, 00:28:50.46\00:28:52.73 if there is a condition about your feet that is embarrassing, 00:28:52.76\00:28:57.13 that you don't want your feet to be seen, 00:28:57.17\00:28:59.57 put on some thin nylon socks 00:28:59.60\00:29:04.01 and participate in the foot washing service 00:29:04.07\00:29:08.11 with those nylon socks on. 00:29:08.14\00:29:09.61 Greg: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:29:09.64\00:29:11.25 yeah, that's really good Shelley, 00:29:11.28\00:29:12.61 thank you for that answer 00:29:12.65\00:29:13.98 and I know I've done some foot washing with someone... 00:29:14.02\00:29:15.35 a gentleman that wore his socks actually 00:29:15.38\00:29:17.79 but that was... that's okay, so thank you so much 00:29:17.82\00:29:20.36 for Scriptural references too for that. 00:29:20.39\00:29:22.46 I want to remind you... if you have questions, 00:29:22.49\00:29:24.53 you've been studying the Bible 00:29:24.56\00:29:25.89 or something that you've been listening to today 00:29:25.93\00:29:27.43 or watching like... " 00:30:27.42\00:30:29.72 A different time before God created the earth? 00:30:29.76\00:30:32.29 What does that mean... a different time? 00:30:32.33\00:30:34.43 I heard this on Salvation, Symbols and Signs 00:30:34.46\00:30:37.53 Program Number 50 at about the 16-minute mark. 00:30:37.57\00:30:41.20 That's a Program on 3ABN. 00:30:41.24\00:30:42.60 It would be great if Pastor James could answer this 00:30:42.64\00:30:45.81 since he was teaching this. Thank you. 00:30:45.84\00:30:48.01 He reference John chapter 12:31 through 32. 00:30:48.04\00:30:51.05 Great question Sherrie. 00:30:51.08\00:30:52.51 James: Excellent question Sherrie 00:30:52.55\00:30:54.22 from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. 00:30:54.25\00:30:55.68 Thank you for that question, 00:30:55.72\00:30:57.09 yes, we did reference that in Revelation chapter 12 00:30:57.12\00:30:59.79 so, we'll take a look at Revelation chapter 12 00:30:59.82\00:31:01.82 just an overview of Revelation chapter 12, 00:31:01.86\00:31:03.83 so, Revelation 12:1 through 5, 00:31:03.86\00:31:06.19 is a basic summary of the salvation plan 00:31:06.26\00:31:09.26 that God has put in effect for all of us. 00:31:09.30\00:31:12.27 The woman there is great with child... the child being Christ, 00:31:12.30\00:31:15.14 the woman representing the church... 00:31:15.17\00:31:16.71 specifically, the church of Israel... the Jewish church. 00:31:16.74\00:31:19.47 Christ is born... 00:31:19.51\00:31:20.84 the dragon... Satan... tries to destroy Him as soon as He's born 00:31:20.88\00:31:23.81 that takes place through Herod when Christ was just a child 00:31:23.85\00:31:27.38 and then, it says that the child is caught up to heaven. 00:31:27.42\00:31:30.92 Of course, we don't have the details or the fact 00:31:30.99\00:31:33.72 that Christ lived and died to save us from our sins. 00:31:33.76\00:31:36.19 It just says... He is caught up to heaven, in verse 5, 00:31:36.22\00:31:38.49 and the woman in verse 6 flees into the wilderness. 00:31:38.53\00:31:40.80 Then you transition into another section... 00:31:40.83\00:31:43.03 Revelation chapter 12 verses 7 through 9 00:31:43.06\00:31:45.23 takes us back to the war in heaven 00:31:45.30\00:31:47.07 and really it's an explanation of why Christ had to come... 00:31:47.10\00:31:50.71 be born of the Jewish church and redeem us 00:31:50.74\00:31:53.01 because there was a war that began in heaven 00:31:53.04\00:31:55.24 between Michael and His angels and the devil and his angels 00:31:55.31\00:31:58.15 and they fought and that devil was cast out of heaven. 00:31:58.18\00:32:00.62 That's the "cast out" you are referring to. 00:32:00.65\00:32:02.88 That's the "cast out" that we're all familiar with... 00:32:02.92\00:32:05.02 that's the "cast out" where Satan is physically 00:32:05.05\00:32:07.19 removed from heaven. 00:32:07.22\00:32:08.72 The problem with him being physically removed 00:32:08.76\00:32:11.29 is that there is still a little bit of sympathy there, 00:32:11.33\00:32:13.80 there are still a few questions that are unanswered 00:32:13.86\00:32:16.06 in the minds of angels. 00:32:16.10\00:32:17.47 In fact, one-third of the angels are actually deceived 00:32:17.50\00:32:19.73 and go with him... 00:32:19.80\00:32:21.14 the other angels need clarification. 00:32:21.17\00:32:23.20 God cast him out but God still has to clarify 00:32:23.24\00:32:26.51 this whole issue about Satan and his accusations 00:32:26.54\00:32:29.44 against God's throne. 00:32:29.51\00:32:30.85 So, Jesus just doesn't come to redeem us... 00:32:30.88\00:32:33.42 Jesus also comes to bring clarification 00:32:33.45\00:32:35.92 to who God is... what He is really like 00:32:35.95\00:32:38.32 to God's justice and His mercy... to His character. 00:32:38.35\00:32:41.62 That's what we see taking place in the next verse. 00:32:41.66\00:32:44.86 In order to understand the next verse, 00:32:44.89\00:32:47.10 that is Revelation 12 verse 10, 00:32:47.13\00:32:49.13 we need to go to John chapter 12 verses 31 and 32 00:32:49.16\00:32:53.13 and that's what we'll do right now. 00:32:53.20\00:32:54.57 John 12:31 and 32 says this... 00:32:54.60\00:32:56.87 and Jesus here is going to the cross... 00:32:56.91\00:32:58.41 He's going to make the final sacrifice and He says, 00:32:58.44\00:33:02.01 John chapter 12:31, "Now is the judgment of this world; 00:33:02.04\00:33:05.61 now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 00:33:05.65\00:33:08.72 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, 00:33:08.75\00:33:11.12 will draw all men unto me. " 00:33:11.15\00:33:13.29 So, really verse 5 where Christ is taken up into heaven... 00:33:13.32\00:33:17.69 that verse takes place after what we read 00:33:17.73\00:33:20.70 in John chapter 12:31 and 32, Jesus is crucified 00:33:20.73\00:33:24.27 and when He's crucified, guess what? 00:33:24.30\00:33:25.67 Satan is unmasked. 00:33:25.70\00:33:27.04 The character of Satan is revealed 00:33:27.07\00:33:29.30 before the unfallen universe 00:33:29.34\00:33:30.71 and they see him for who he really is. 00:33:30.74\00:33:32.41 Their questions are all answered. 00:33:32.47\00:33:33.91 Now, he's come selfish... 00:33:33.98\00:33:35.31 he's cast out of... not only physically 00:33:35.34\00:33:36.71 but he's cast out of the sympathies 00:33:36.75\00:33:38.38 of the unfallen world 00:33:38.41\00:33:39.75 but woe to the inhabitants of the earth, 00:33:39.78\00:33:41.22 we have yet to learn 00:33:41.25\00:33:43.08 what the unfallen universe has learned 00:33:43.12\00:33:44.72 about the character of Satan. 00:33:44.75\00:33:46.09 We still have sympathy with the devil... 00:33:46.12\00:33:47.92 as the old Rolling Stone song says 00:33:47.96\00:33:50.16 and God is seeking through the revelation of Jesus Christ, 00:33:50.19\00:33:53.66 lifting up Jesus Christ to remove all of those sympathies, 00:33:53.70\00:33:56.50 the sympathies that are removed from the unfallen universe 00:33:56.53\00:33:59.03 to remove all the sympathies from the fallen universe. 00:33:59.07\00:34:01.50 Greg: Hmmm... excellent, 00:34:01.57\00:34:02.94 thank you for that clarification Pastor James, praise the Lord. 00:34:02.97\00:34:05.44 James: Amen. 00:34:05.47\00:34:06.81 Greg: This question comes from 00:34:06.84\00:34:10.85 see, let me make sure I get this right, 00:34:10.88\00:34:12.45 Tony... Nashville, Tennessee. 00:34:12.48\00:34:15.45 It's not too far away from 3ABN. 00:34:15.48\00:34:18.62 It says: We know that every eye shall see Jesus 00:34:18.65\00:34:21.19 when He returns. 00:34:21.22\00:34:23.16 But for those that crucified Him, 00:34:23.19\00:34:24.86 will there be a special resurrection 00:34:24.89\00:34:26.53 or will they rise with those in the first one 00:34:26.56\00:34:28.96 one... in order to seek Christ actually come 00:34:29.00\00:34:31.30 and then go back to the grave to awake with the wicked? 00:34:31.33\00:34:35.47 Thank you. 00:34:35.50\00:34:36.84 Ryan: Okay, thank you so much, Tony, for that question 00:34:36.87\00:34:39.04 and the answer is very clear. 00:34:39.07\00:34:40.41 I'm going to provide two or three texts here to support this 00:34:40.44\00:34:42.91 but the direct answer to your question is, 00:34:42.94\00:34:44.71 yes, there is a Special Resurrection that will occur 00:34:44.75\00:34:48.12 of the wicked at the second coming of Jesus 00:34:48.15\00:34:51.22 for those individuals who participated 00:34:51.25\00:34:53.92 or had anything to do with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. 00:34:53.96\00:34:57.16 So, first I want to start in Daniel chapter 12, 00:34:57.19\00:35:00.10 just to set the foundation for this, 00:35:00.13\00:35:01.83 Daniel chapter 12 verses 1 and 2, 00:35:01.86\00:35:03.50 this is within the context of those events 00:35:03.57\00:35:05.77 leading up to the second coming of Christ... 00:35:05.80\00:35:07.90 it says there, 00:35:07.94\00:35:09.47 "And at that time Michael shall stand up, 00:35:09.50\00:35:10.84 the great prince who stands 00:35:10.87\00:35:12.44 watch over the sons of your people; 00:35:12.47\00:35:13.81 and there shall be a time of trouble, 00:35:13.84\00:35:15.18 such as never was since there was a nation, 00:35:15.21\00:35:17.51 even to that time. 00:35:17.55\00:35:18.88 And at that time your people shall be delivered, 00:35:18.91\00:35:21.48 everyone who is found written in the book. " 00:35:21.52\00:35:24.29 So, that's the righteous, right? 00:35:24.32\00:35:25.65 The people whose names are written 00:35:25.69\00:35:27.02 in the Lamb's book of life. 00:35:27.06\00:35:28.39 But then, verse 2 comes within the context 00:35:28.42\00:35:29.76 of that glorious appearing of Jesus in the clouds. 00:35:29.79\00:35:31.99 It says, "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth 00:35:32.06\00:35:35.66 shall awake... " 00:35:35.70\00:35:37.03 okay, we know this to be the... you know... 00:35:37.07\00:35:38.93 within the context of 1st Thessalonians chapter 4 00:35:38.97\00:35:41.30 where it says, "The dead in Christ shall rise first... " 00:35:41.34\00:35:43.54 1st Corinthians chapter 15, "We shall not all sleep, 00:35:43.57\00:35:45.74 we shall all be changed... in a moment, 00:35:45.77\00:35:47.28 in the twinkling of an eye... " 00:35:47.34\00:35:48.68 I think it's verse 51 there in 1st Corinthians 15, 00:35:48.71\00:35:50.91 So this is... we know the righteous 00:35:50.95\00:35:52.45 at the second coming of Jesus 00:35:52.48\00:35:53.82 will come forth out of their graves 00:35:53.85\00:35:55.55 but the majority of the dead... 00:35:55.58\00:35:57.29 they... they are destroyed... 00:35:57.32\00:35:58.75 those who are alive are destroyed 00:35:58.79\00:36:00.12 by the brightness of His coming 00:36:00.16\00:36:01.49 according to 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 there... verse 8, 00:36:01.52\00:36:04.16 but also there... it makes it very clear that 00:36:04.19\00:36:06.83 the righteous that are already dead in the grave... 00:36:06.86\00:36:09.06 well, they remain in the graves 00:36:09.13\00:36:10.47 except for a specific group of people. 00:36:10.50\00:36:12.60 it goes on to say there in verse 2... 00:36:12.63\00:36:14.74 did I say: righteous... 00:36:14.77\00:36:16.10 I mean: unrighteous is what I meant... 00:36:16.14\00:36:17.47 thank you for that correction. 00:36:17.51\00:36:18.84 Verse 2 of Daniel 12 here it says: 00:36:18.87\00:36:20.21 "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth 00:36:20.24\00:36:21.81 shall awake, some to everlasting life... " 00:36:21.84\00:36:23.48 okay... but then it goes on to say, 00:36:23.51\00:36:24.85 "Some to shame and everlasting contempt. " 00:36:24.88\00:36:27.52 Now, Revelation 1 verse 7, 00:36:27.55\00:36:30.12 notice what Jesus says, 00:36:30.15\00:36:31.49 "Behold... " speaking of His coming 00:36:31.52\00:36:33.49 because He is coming with clouds 00:36:33.52\00:36:34.86 "and every eye will see Him, 00:36:34.89\00:36:36.39 even they who pierced Him. 00:36:36.42\00:36:38.86 And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. 00:36:38.89\00:36:41.60 Even so, Amen. " 00:36:41.66\00:36:43.00 Even those who pierced Him... 00:36:43.03\00:36:44.37 well, that would be Caiaphas 00:36:44.40\00:36:45.73 and, you know, majority of the... of the priesthood, 00:36:45.77\00:36:47.54 the Sanhedrin... 00:36:47.57\00:36:48.90 those Roman guards that participated in the... 00:36:48.94\00:36:50.81 in the... in the crucifixion itself, 00:36:50.84\00:36:53.01 all those individuals will be resurrected 00:36:53.04\00:36:55.51 because they will actually see physically 00:36:55.54\00:36:57.95 Jesus coming back in the clouds now, one more text... 00:36:58.01\00:37:00.62 where do we get the foundation of this from? 00:37:00.65\00:37:02.55 Matthew chapter 26 when Jesus was standing trial 00:37:02.58\00:37:05.45 at that Sanhedrin... before the Sanhedrin Court in 31 A.D. 00:37:05.49\00:37:10.09 it goes on to say, "But Jesus kept silent. " 00:37:10.13\00:37:12.43 This is Matthew 26 verses 63 and 64, 00:37:12.46\00:37:14.96 "But Jesus kept silent. 00:37:15.00\00:37:16.56 And the high priest answered and said to Him, 00:37:16.60\00:37:18.27 'I put you under oath by the living God: 00:37:18.30\00:37:20.54 Tell us if you are the Christ and the Son of God!' 00:37:20.57\00:37:22.77 Jesus said to him, 'It is as you said. 00:37:22.80\00:37:25.17 Nevertheless, I say to you, 00:37:25.21\00:37:26.54 hereafter you will see the Son of Man 00:37:26.57\00:37:28.14 sitting at the right hand of Power, 00:37:28.18\00:37:30.18 and coming on the clouds of heaven. '" 00:37:30.21\00:37:32.68 So, very plainly put... Daniel 12... Matthew 26... 00:37:32.71\00:37:36.38 Revelation 1... 00:37:36.42\00:37:37.75 we have clear texts there that tell us that yes, 00:37:37.79\00:37:39.85 Special Resurrection will occur of those who pierced Christ. 00:37:39.89\00:37:42.66 Greg: Hmmm... yeah... thank you very much, very clear. 00:37:42.69\00:37:45.06 Very clear from the Word of God, thank you, Pastor Ryan. 00:37:45.09\00:37:48.86 Shelley, question from Gloria, she lives in Maryland. 00:37:48.90\00:37:52.63 In Exodus chapter 33 verse 11, 00:37:52.67\00:37:55.70 Moses spoke to God face to face. 00:37:55.74\00:37:58.51 Genesis chapter 32 verse 30 and this is Jacob, 00:37:58.54\00:38:03.41 "For I have seen God face to face 00:38:03.45\00:38:05.45 and my life is preserved. " 00:38:05.48\00:38:06.82 Then back to Exodus chapter 33:20 and 22 says, 00:38:06.85\00:38:11.25 "No man has seen My face and lived. " 00:38:11.29\00:38:13.29 Which is the truth? Did people see God and live? 00:38:13.32\00:38:17.16 Shelley: That's a great question and I studied this out myself 00:38:17.19\00:38:21.66 some time ago out of curiosity. 00:38:21.70\00:38:24.00 In Genesis 32:30, when Jacob wrestled with a man, 00:38:24.17\00:38:28.00 he knew it was God that he was wrestling with. 00:38:28.04\00:38:31.74 This was what they called a Christophany... 00:38:31.77\00:38:35.44 this was an appearance of the pre-incarnate Second Person 00:38:35.48\00:38:42.55 of the Godhead. 00:38:42.58\00:38:44.29 In other words, the one who would become Jesus Christ. 00:38:44.32\00:38:47.76 This was before He was incarnated. 00:38:47.79\00:38:51.93 And Hosea 12:4 identifies this man 00:38:51.96\00:38:56.03 that Jacob was wrestling with as the angel of the Lord 00:38:56.06\00:39:01.60 who is also identified as God? 00:39:01.64\00:39:05.07 Now, in Exodus 33:11 00:39:05.11\00:39:08.48 when it says that the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, 00:39:08.51\00:39:13.72 this is a figurative expression. 00:39:13.75\00:39:16.99 He was... it just means that God had direct communication 00:39:17.05\00:39:23.09 with Moses. 00:39:23.12\00:39:24.46 He didn't do it through visions or dreams 00:39:24.49\00:39:27.36 and we know it's figurative 00:39:27.40\00:39:29.30 because you go right on down in Exodus 33 to verse 20, 00:39:29.33\00:39:33.84 and God says to Moses, 00:39:33.87\00:39:36.10 "You can't see My face: 00:39:36.14\00:39:37.47 no man shall see My face, and live. " 00:39:37.51\00:39:40.08 And in verse 22, when Moses says, "Show me Your glory" 00:39:40.11\00:39:44.75 God says, "So it shall be, while My glory passes by, 00:39:44.78\00:39:49.38 that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, 00:39:49.42\00:39:52.95 and I will cover with My hand while I pass by: 00:39:52.99\00:39:56.59 and then when I take away My hand, 00:39:56.62\00:39:59.06 you shall see my back but you shall not... 00:39:59.09\00:40:03.06 My face shall not be seen. " 00:40:03.13\00:40:04.77 Panel: Hmmm... 00:40:04.80\00:40:06.13 Shelley: You know, in 1st Timothy 6:16, 00:40:06.17\00:40:08.24 the Bible says that God lives in unapproachable light. 00:40:08.27\00:40:15.08 It is the penetrating purity of His love. 00:40:15.11\00:40:21.68 Love cannot sin. 00:40:21.72\00:40:23.05 This is what makes God holy 00:40:23.08\00:40:24.95 and His love is a consuming fire of sin... 00:40:24.99\00:40:32.03 the flame of His love. 00:40:32.09\00:40:34.10 If you're a sinner and you are in God's presence, 00:40:34.13\00:40:37.10 you just go... choook... 00:40:37.13\00:40:38.87 that's why when they return, they're going to be seen. 00:40:38.90\00:40:43.67 But... so we know fallen man 00:40:43.71\00:40:46.24 cannot stand in the presence of God 00:40:46.27\00:40:48.01 but I've just got to tell you this, 00:40:48.04\00:40:49.74 Jesus said in Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart 00:40:49.78\00:40:53.78 for they shall see God. " 00:40:53.82\00:40:55.95 And the same Apostle who... who writes, 00:40:55.98\00:40:59.62 "No one has seen God at any time. " John 1:18 00:40:59.65\00:41:02.42 Same Apostle says in 1st John 3:2-3, 00:41:02.46\00:41:06.63 "We shall see Him as He is. " 00:41:06.66\00:41:08.70 And in Revelation 22:4, again John writes, 00:41:08.73\00:41:12.83 "They shall see His face; 00:41:12.87\00:41:14.77 and his name will be on their foreheads. " 00:41:14.80\00:41:17.37 Greg: Hmmm... amen. 00:41:17.41\00:41:18.74 Thank you so much Sister Shelley. 00:41:18.77\00:41:20.28 See, in the last few minutes here, 00:41:20.31\00:41:21.81 I think we have enough time to do one more question each. 00:41:21.84\00:41:24.85 So, Pastor James, I'll try to read this question quickly. 00:41:24.88\00:41:27.82 It comes from Adoracion from Seattle, Washington: 00:41:27.88\00:41:30.32 Is moving out to the country Biblical? 00:41:30.35\00:41:32.39 Is off-grid living necessary? 00:41:32.42\00:41:35.22 I have noticed many Seventh-day Adventists 00:41:35.29\00:41:38.13 looking for land that is off-grid 00:41:38.16\00:41:39.96 versus country living. 00:41:40.00\00:41:41.33 Won't we have to flee to the mountains anyway 00:41:41.36\00:41:43.57 during the great time of trouble 00:41:43.60\00:41:45.03 and rely on God regardless of how self-sufficient our home is 00:41:45.07\00:41:48.30 in the country? 00:41:48.34\00:41:49.77 James: All right, there's a couple of questions there. 00:41:49.80\00:41:51.14 So, we'll deal with the first one: 00:41:51.17\00:41:52.51 Is country living Biblical? 00:41:52.54\00:41:53.88 Well, we can see from the very beginning 00:41:53.91\00:41:55.88 that country living is Biblical. 00:41:55.91\00:41:58.11 God put us in a garden 00:41:58.15\00:41:59.48 and He wanted us to be surrounded 00:41:59.51\00:42:02.42 with the beauties of nature. 00:42:02.45\00:42:04.19 Nature is God's second book... it speaks to us... 00:42:04.25\00:42:07.86 it speaks to our senses and it invigorates us. 00:42:07.89\00:42:11.33 I love being out in nature 00:42:11.36\00:42:13.80 and I love living in the country. 00:42:13.83\00:42:15.66 Now, I'm a city boy by nature. 00:42:15.70\00:42:17.47 My wife is a city girl raised in Southern California. 00:42:17.50\00:42:20.24 I was raised in London so that's our natural tendency 00:42:20.27\00:42:22.94 but when I moved out to the country, 00:42:22.97\00:42:25.34 it was hard at first, you know, 00:42:25.37\00:42:27.01 because it was so different, you know, 00:42:27.08\00:42:28.54 there was no convenient stores around the corner, 00:42:28.58\00:42:30.75 you know, you had to go three hours to get to an airport 00:42:30.78\00:42:33.31 to fly out and I did a lot of flying 00:42:33.35\00:42:35.32 but eventually, I settled into it 00:42:35.35\00:42:37.25 and now, I love living in the country. 00:42:37.29\00:42:39.15 That's what we were made for, 00:42:39.19\00:42:40.72 we were made to be in nature 00:42:40.76\00:42:42.22 and this is what we see all through the Bible, 00:42:42.26\00:42:44.99 in fact, country living was God's call to His people... 00:42:45.03\00:42:48.23 to Abraham... Abraham did it. 00:42:48.26\00:42:50.13 Moses did it... Jacob did it... Isaac did it. 00:42:50.17\00:42:53.34 All of them avoided city dwelling. 00:42:53.37\00:42:55.44 Even Christ lived in a small community of Nazareth 00:42:55.50\00:42:59.11 as opposed to a metropolis of Jerusalem. 00:42:59.14\00:43:02.14 And that's not to say that God doesn't have 00:43:02.18\00:43:03.78 a city dwelling for us. 00:43:03.81\00:43:05.61 The New Jerusalem is going to be a city dwelling for sure 00:43:05.65\00:43:07.78 and we're going to have a mansion in the New Jerusalem, 00:43:07.82\00:43:09.98 but that's going to be as far as we can tell 00:43:10.02\00:43:11.92 the only city in the new heaven and the new earth. 00:43:11.95\00:43:14.39 The rest is going to be country living 00:43:14.42\00:43:16.02 and we can see that 00:43:16.06\00:43:17.39 when God's people were taken into the New Canaan... 00:43:17.43\00:43:20.53 and into the Promised Land 00:43:20.56\00:43:21.90 and they were all given a section of land... 00:43:21.93\00:43:23.26 a section of property which was great as a cure, I think, 00:43:23.33\00:43:26.94 for big government today to just give people land 00:43:26.97\00:43:29.47 and help them to develop that land. 00:43:29.50\00:43:32.01 Those are the good old days, and they are the Biblical days. 00:43:32.04\00:43:34.91 Now, the second half of the question is: 00:43:34.94\00:43:36.28 Is off-grid living necessary? 00:43:36.31\00:43:37.71 Now, I've noticed, you know, that you said that 00:43:37.75\00:43:41.15 many Adventists are looking to live off-grid, 00:43:41.22\00:43:43.79 I don't think off-grid living is necessary. 00:43:43.82\00:43:46.35 You know, we are going to have a time 00:43:46.42\00:43:48.46 when we're going to have to flee to the mountains 00:43:48.52\00:43:50.16 and so, we're going to be off-grid 00:43:50.19\00:43:51.53 but why bring a time of trouble beforehand? 00:43:51.56\00:43:54.40 There are conveniences that help life to be easier for us. 00:43:54.43\00:43:57.97 Why not take advantage of those conveniences right now? 00:43:58.00\00:44:01.54 Sometimes we want to live off-grid 00:44:01.57\00:44:03.14 because we don't want anything to change 00:44:03.20\00:44:04.57 when the time of trouble comes so we want to be used to it. 00:44:04.61\00:44:06.57 Well, when that time comes, oh, have a generator... 00:44:06.64\00:44:10.21 live off-grid for that time but why do it ahead of time? 00:44:10.25\00:44:13.42 I think it's beneficial for us to take advantage of the 00:44:13.48\00:44:16.62 conveniences that we have in our world today 00:44:16.65\00:44:18.62 so that we can get on with God's work 00:44:18.65\00:44:20.66 and not be distracted with all of the extra work that it takes 00:44:20.69\00:44:24.36 to live off-grid. 00:44:24.39\00:44:25.73 Now, that's not saying 00:44:25.76\00:44:27.33 that it's wrong for someone to live off-grid. 00:44:27.36\00:44:29.33 If you choose to live off-grid, I think it's great, you know, 00:44:29.36\00:44:31.90 if it's desired 00:44:31.93\00:44:33.54 but there is no reason for us to bring that time of trouble 00:44:33.57\00:44:36.50 on us ahead of time. 00:44:36.54\00:44:37.87 When the time comes, when we have to flee to the mountains, 00:44:37.91\00:44:40.28 we have to live off-grid... 00:44:40.31\00:44:41.64 well, that's something that we'll endure at that time... 00:44:41.68\00:44:43.91 why do it now? 00:44:43.95\00:44:45.28 James: Excellent, yeah, thank you so much. 00:44:45.31\00:44:47.28 Like you mentioned, couple of questions in there 00:44:47.32\00:44:49.08 so, thank you so very much for it. 00:44:49.12\00:44:50.45 Great answers from God's Word. 00:44:50.49\00:44:51.82 Pastor Ryan, question from Pam, Trinidad... Tobago. 00:44:51.85\00:44:54.99 Ryan: All right. 00:44:55.02\00:44:56.36 Greg: I see many of the churches today 00:44:56.39\00:44:57.73 dealing with spiritual warfare. 00:44:57.76\00:44:59.56 Does the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:44:59.59\00:45:01.56 help people who are being afflicted via witchcraft? 00:45:01.60\00:45:04.63 Ryan: The answer is "yes". 00:45:04.70\00:45:06.20 You may not hear as much about it 00:45:06.23\00:45:08.80 because, you know, these are kind of... 00:45:08.84\00:45:10.17 well, we know that demonic oppression and witchcraft... 00:45:10.21\00:45:14.71 it's... it's a thing in our world 00:45:14.74\00:45:16.08 but you don't hear about it a lot... but it's a real thing. 00:45:16.11\00:45:18.78 And so, in this case, yeah, 00:45:18.81\00:45:20.18 you may not hear or know that there are ministries... 00:45:20.22\00:45:22.38 I'll just give you one right off the bat, 00:45:22.42\00:45:23.89 it's one that actually Shelley made me recently aware of 00:45:23.92\00:45:27.02 that I did not know about, 00:45:27.06\00:45:28.39 it's: Set Free in Christ Institute. 00:45:28.42\00:45:30.23 Set Free in Christ Institute and they have a website: 00:45:30.26\00:45:33.16 SetFreeinChrist. org 00:45:33.19\00:45:35.56 so: SetFreeinChrist. org 00:45:35.60\00:45:37.87 go there Pam... maybe bring it to your Pastor's attention. 00:45:37.90\00:45:41.67 This is... this is a ministry that has brought information 00:45:41.70\00:45:45.44 together from the Scripture and how to, you know, 00:45:45.47\00:45:47.34 deal with exorcisms and things like that 00:45:47.38\00:45:49.94 of people who are being demonically oppressed 00:45:49.98\00:45:52.71 or in this case, oppressed by witchcraft of any kind, 00:45:52.75\00:45:55.55 I would... He says, right here He says, 00:47:36.52\00:47:39.55 "However, this kind does not go out 00:47:39.59\00:47:40.92 except by prayer and fasting. " 00:48:42.72\00:48:44.05 That confused me so how can "breath" lead us? 00:48:44.09\00:48:46.82 Whenever "spirit" is mentioned in the Bible, 00:48:46.86\00:48:49.22 if it is not referring to the Holy Spirit, 00:48:49.26\00:48:50.99 does it always mean "breath"? 00:48:51.03\00:48:52.73 Shelley: Okay, the Greek word Pneuma 00:48:52.76\00:48:56.10 can mean: spirit, wind, or breath 00:48:56.13\00:48:59.40 and I don't know what you looked it up... 00:48:59.43\00:49:01.60 in most places that I've looked, 00:49:01.64\00:49:03.77 it talks about spirit, wind or breath 00:49:03.81\00:49:06.07 and when you were saying in Galatians 5:18, 00:49:06.11\00:49:09.11 led by the Spirit... that is the Holy Spirit. 00:49:09.14\00:49:12.08 You have to read in context when you see the word "Pneuma" 00:49:12.11\00:49:15.85 and in context, you'll know when to capital... 00:49:15.88\00:49:19.42 put the capital "S" 00:49:19.45\00:49:20.79 that always refers to the Holy Spirit of God. 00:49:20.82\00:49:24.66 Romans 5:5 says that God pours out His love... 00:49:24.69\00:49:28.60 the essence of His Being into our hearts 00:49:28.66\00:49:31.20 by the power of the Holy Spirit 00:49:31.23\00:49:34.00 who's been given to us. 00:49:34.04\00:49:35.37 That's not just a breath or a wind... 00:49:35.40\00:49:38.24 that's God's Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Godhead. 00:49:38.27\00:49:42.68 In John 14:16 Jesus said, 00:49:42.71\00:49:45.98 "I will pray... the Father 00:49:46.01\00:49:47.98 He will give you another helper. " 00:49:48.05\00:49:51.42 Allos Parakletos is what the Greek says 00:49:51.45\00:49:55.16 and you know what's interesting? 00:49:55.19\00:49:56.52 That means, another Helper who is exactly like Me 00:49:56.56\00:50:00.46 and that He may abide with you forever. 00:50:00.50\00:50:04.57 A Parakletos is an Advocate, 00:50:04.63\00:50:07.87 Legal Assistant that pleads someone's cause 00:50:07.90\00:50:11.14 an Intercessor, Counselor, Comforter or Helper. 00:50:11.17\00:50:14.64 So, when Jesus says in John... the next verse... 00:50:14.68\00:50:17.91 He says, "The Spirit of truth... " 00:50:17.95\00:50:19.91 He's talking about the Holy Spirit 00:50:19.95\00:50:21.85 whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him 00:50:21.88\00:50:24.69 nor knows Him... but you know Him 00:50:24.72\00:50:26.12 for He dwells in you and will be in you. 00:50:26.15\00:50:31.26 Now, John 3:8 Jesus told Nicodemus, 00:50:31.29\00:50:34.56 "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear it... 00:50:34.60\00:50:38.57 but you can't tell where it is and He said, 00:50:38.60\00:50:40.40 "So it is with everyone who's born of the Spirit. " 00:50:40.44\00:50:42.87 Now, some people say, 00:50:42.90\00:50:44.37 "Ah ha... that denies the personhood of the Holy Spirit. " 00:50:44.41\00:50:48.24 No, it's simply an expression. 00:50:48.28\00:50:51.25 Jesus is explaining the mode of operation of the Spirit. 00:50:51.28\00:50:56.55 and you know, we call Jesus "The Gate" 00:50:56.58\00:50:59.22 we call Him "The Door" "Divine" 00:50:59.25\00:51:01.12 "The Bread of Life" 00:51:01.16\00:51:02.76 that doesn't mean Jesus is not a person. 00:51:02.79\00:51:04.79 But let me just quickly tell you 00:51:04.83\00:51:06.86 what the functions of the Holy Spirit are. 00:51:06.90\00:51:09.36 He inspired the Scriptures... 00:51:09.40\00:51:11.20 He illuminates the Scriptures for us to understand... 00:51:11.23\00:51:13.87 He convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgment, 00:51:13.90\00:51:16.81 He exalts Christ... calls people to the Savior... 00:51:16.84\00:51:19.67 He affects regeneration... the rebirth... 00:51:19.71\00:51:22.58 He cultivates Christian character 00:51:22.61\00:51:25.11 and the fullness of stature, 00:51:25.15\00:51:27.25 He bestows spiritual gifts... 00:51:27.28\00:51:29.35 He seals us for the day of redemption 00:51:29.38\00:51:31.49 and you better believe 00:51:31.52\00:51:34.32 Pneuma... the Spirit... capital "S" 00:51:34.39\00:51:38.09 is the Third Person of the Godhead. 00:51:38.16\00:51:41.86 He is the Holy Spirit. 00:51:41.90\00:51:44.27 Greg: Amen, wow! thank you so very much, Sister Shelley. 00:51:44.30\00:51:46.30 Thank you for your passion and excitement too. 00:51:46.33\00:51:47.74 Shelley: I love that topic. 00:51:47.77\00:51:49.10 Greg: We're going to take a quick break, 00:51:49.14\00:51:50.77 we'll be right back with some closing comments. 00:51:50.81\00:51:53.71 If you are enjoying our 3ABN Bible Q and A, 00:51:53.74\00:51:56.58 then tell your friends. 00:51:56.61\00:51:57.95 Each Monday we'll bring you a fresh Program 00:51:57.98\00:52:00.92 answering the Bible questions you send us 00:52:00.95\00:52:03.32 using God's Holy Word to show light on those texts 00:52:03.35\00:52:06.79 that seem difficult to understand. 00:52:06.82\00:52:08.49 To have your questions answered on a future Program, 00:52:08.52\00:52:11.59 just e-mail them to us at: BibleQA@3abn. tv 00:52:11.63\00:52:16.67 that's: BibleQA@3abn. tv 00:52:16.70\00:52:20.24 You may also text your questions to: 618-228-3975 00:52:20.27\00:52:25.87 that's: 618-228-3975 00:52:25.91\00:52:29.61 Be sure to include your name and where you live 00:52:29.64\00:52:32.41 and then watch 3ABN Bible Q and A 00:52:32.45\00:52:34.95 for answers from God's Word. 00:52:34.98\00:52:37.05
