Are you locked and ready to go? 00:03:12.25\00:03:14.46 I love that term. 00:03:14.49\00:03:15.86 I'm locked and loaded and ready to go. 00:03:15.89\00:03:18.03 Oh, praise the Lord, 00:03:18.06\00:03:19.39 Sounds like the military about to happen. 00:03:19.43\00:03:22.56 Well, we believe this program is a program 00:03:22.60\00:03:25.13 that will minister to you. 00:03:25.17\00:03:27.60 And it gives you an opportunity to hear some answers 00:03:27.64\00:03:30.67 to questions that maybe you've had for a long time. 00:03:30.71\00:03:33.54 And we encourage you to send them in. 00:03:33.58\00:03:35.38 And I remember one lady that wrote in, she said, 00:03:35.41\00:03:38.65 I don't care if you might think it's silly. 00:03:38.68\00:03:41.08 I'm sending the question in any way 00:03:41.12\00:03:42.92 because I want to know the truth. 00:03:42.95\00:03:45.15 So we encourage you to send in your questions 00:03:45.19\00:03:47.22 whether you're young or old. 00:03:47.26\00:03:48.89 There may be some people that for a long time 00:03:48.92\00:03:51.09 have been wondering about something. 00:03:51.13\00:03:53.03 And this is your opportunity to get your question in. 00:03:53.06\00:03:55.96 Before we begin, 00:03:56.00\00:03:57.33 we are going to the Lord in prayer 00:03:57.40\00:03:58.73 and I like to ask Pastor John Lomacang 00:03:58.77\00:04:00.24 if you please take us to the Lord in prayer. 00:04:00.27\00:04:02.40 Sure. Let's pray. 00:04:02.44\00:04:04.01 Gracious Father, loving Lord, as we open Your Word, 00:04:04.07\00:04:06.41 open our hearts, open our minds, 00:04:06.44\00:04:09.61 open our ears, as you said, 00:04:09.64\00:04:11.71 He who has an ear to hear let him hear 00:04:11.75\00:04:14.18 what the Spirit says to the churches. 00:04:14.22\00:04:16.42 We pray that we could respond to these questions humbly, 00:04:16.45\00:04:20.26 but scripturally so that those who are listening 00:04:20.32\00:04:22.89 will know that these are not opinions, 00:04:22.92\00:04:25.03 but they're supported by God's Word. 00:04:25.06\00:04:27.13 We pray that when the program is done, 00:04:27.20\00:04:28.56 someone's heart will be moved to not only know You 00:04:28.60\00:04:31.63 but to commit themselves to You 00:04:31.67\00:04:33.57 and to follow Your Word as it is in Jesus. 00:04:33.60\00:04:37.04 We pray this in Your precious and holy name. 00:04:37.07\00:04:39.94 Amen. Amen. 00:04:39.97\00:04:41.31 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:04:41.34\00:04:42.71 For those of you joining us, 00:04:42.74\00:04:45.41 I like to let you in on some information 00:04:45.45\00:04:47.98 that you may wonder what has happened here 00:04:48.02\00:04:51.22 because we're trying to get as many questions 00:04:51.25\00:04:53.82 answered as possible. 00:04:53.89\00:04:55.22 So we're basically sticking 00:04:55.26\00:04:57.06 to about a two-minute time frame for questions. 00:04:57.09\00:05:00.30 So, watch carefully as you hear the first question, 00:05:00.33\00:05:04.77 and this one is coming to Pastor James Rafferty, 00:05:04.80\00:05:08.00 and the question is, 00:05:08.04\00:05:09.37 "How do you respond to someone 00:05:09.40\00:05:11.81 who thinks Jesus as the Son of God 00:05:11.84\00:05:14.31 was created by God and not God Himself 00:05:14.34\00:05:17.68 or is equal to God?" 00:05:17.71\00:05:19.05 This is from Carla, from Michigan. 00:05:19.08\00:05:20.85 Good question, Karla from Michigan. 00:05:20.88\00:05:22.32 There are a number of people who feel this way 00:05:22.35\00:05:24.92 but there's one denomination specifically 00:05:24.95\00:05:26.52 I've studied with them before. 00:05:26.55\00:05:27.89 Jehovah's Witnesses 00:05:27.92\00:05:29.26 who believe that Jesus was a created being 00:05:29.29\00:05:31.09 and He's not one or equal with God. 00:05:31.16\00:05:32.99 So there are a number of Bible references. 00:05:33.03\00:05:34.50 And, of course, we always want to go to the Bible. 00:05:34.56\00:05:36.73 Hebrews 1 is one area 00:05:36.77\00:05:39.17 where you can go to establish that Jesus Christ 00:05:39.20\00:05:42.67 is indeed equal with God. 00:05:42.70\00:05:44.67 In 1:3, it says, 00:05:44.71\00:05:47.01 "Of Jesus, who being the brightness of His glory 00:05:47.08\00:05:49.21 and the express image of His person, 00:05:49.24\00:05:51.15 upholding all things by the word of His power, 00:05:51.18\00:05:54.05 when He had by Himself purged our sins, 00:05:54.12\00:05:55.78 sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." 00:05:55.82\00:05:59.32 Verse 6 says, "And again, 00:05:59.35\00:06:01.59 when he brings the first begotten 00:06:01.62\00:06:03.22 into the world that is Jesus Christ, 00:06:03.26\00:06:05.03 He saith unto him, that all the angels 00:06:05.06\00:06:07.13 of God worship Him." 00:06:07.23\00:06:08.56 So Jesus Christ is worshiped, only God is to be worshiped. 00:06:08.60\00:06:12.87 Now, it says here, 00:06:12.90\00:06:14.34 He brings the first begotten into the world. 00:06:14.37\00:06:16.27 Just turn over now 00:06:16.30\00:06:17.64 to Philippians 2:5-7 00:06:17.71\00:06:22.78 because it brings some clarification 00:06:22.81\00:06:24.35 to what has been talked here in Hebrews Chapter 1. 00:06:24.38\00:06:27.55 Philippians 2:5, says, 00:06:27.62\00:06:30.69 "Let this mind be in you, 00:06:30.72\00:06:32.05 which was also in Christ Jesus: 00:06:32.09\00:06:33.42 Who, being in the form of God thought it not robbery 00:06:33.46\00:06:36.22 to be equal with God: 00:06:36.26\00:06:37.63 But made himself of no reputation, 00:06:37.66\00:06:40.06 took upon himself the form of the servant, 00:06:40.10\00:06:42.10 and it was made in the likeness of men." 00:06:42.13\00:06:43.93 A lot of times we get confused 00:06:43.97\00:06:45.57 because Jesus became a human being, 00:06:45.60\00:06:47.24 we think that He wasn't God, 00:06:47.30\00:06:49.40 that He was human and therefore couldn't have been God, 00:06:49.44\00:06:51.27 but He was divine and He was human. 00:06:51.31\00:06:53.84 We find this truth also established for us. 00:06:53.88\00:06:56.75 In the Old Testament, Isaiah 9:6 talking about Jesus, 00:06:56.78\00:06:59.41 says, "For unto us a child is born, 00:06:59.45\00:07:01.12 unto us a son is given: 00:07:01.15\00:07:02.52 and the government shall be upon his shoulder: 00:07:02.55\00:07:04.12 and his name shall be called Wonderful, 00:07:04.19\00:07:06.32 Counselor, The Mighty God, 00:07:06.35\00:07:07.69 The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." 00:07:07.76\00:07:11.13 So it is challenging at sometimes. 00:07:11.16\00:07:12.56 I studied with Jehovah's Witnesses for many months. 00:07:12.59\00:07:14.56 I went to John Chapter 1, the Word was with God, 00:07:14.60\00:07:16.90 the Word was God, the Word became flesh 00:07:16.93\00:07:18.63 and dwelt among us. 00:07:18.67\00:07:20.00 They have a New World Translation, 00:07:20.04\00:07:21.40 their own Bible translation, 00:07:21.44\00:07:22.77 they take out the capital G for God, 00:07:22.80\00:07:25.14 and they say he was a god and not God. 00:07:25.17\00:07:27.44 So you're going to have some challenges there. 00:07:27.48\00:07:29.18 But if you stick to the Word of God, 00:07:29.21\00:07:30.81 you're going to be fine. 00:07:30.85\00:07:32.18 Thank you, Pastor Rafferty. 00:07:32.21\00:07:33.55 Very good. Thank you. 00:07:33.58\00:07:34.92 Well, we now go to Pastor John Lomacang 00:07:34.95\00:07:37.15 and your first question is, "Pastor Lomacang, do SDA's," 00:07:37.19\00:07:43.02 for those of you that don't know what that is, 00:07:43.06\00:07:44.39 it's Seventh-day Adventists, "go to war and carry weapons? 00:07:44.43\00:07:48.53 I'm about to give Bible studies to a Jehovah's Witness." 00:07:48.56\00:07:51.47 Interesting, that has come up again. 00:07:51.50\00:07:53.54 "Who is open to me discussing the Bible with her, 00:07:53.57\00:07:57.54 which is unusual to me. 00:07:57.57\00:07:59.11 What should I be careful about apart from praying up first?" 00:07:59.14\00:08:03.71 It says from Pauline from California. 00:08:03.75\00:08:05.28 Thank you, Pauline. 00:08:05.31\00:08:06.65 Now, there are two questions in that continual question. 00:08:06.68\00:08:09.22 One is, do SDA's go to war and carry weapons. 00:08:09.25\00:08:12.35 Right off the bat, some SDA's or some Seventh-day Adventists 00:08:12.39\00:08:15.46 do go to war and do carry weapons. 00:08:15.49\00:08:18.19 In that particular context, 00:08:18.23\00:08:20.26 it is a choice and not a doctrinal firm position 00:08:20.30\00:08:23.43 that you said, 00:08:23.47\00:08:24.80 if you're member of our church you can't carry weapons, 00:08:24.83\00:08:26.84 because when you begin to understand the broadness 00:08:26.87\00:08:28.94 of our church, there are many Adventists who own weapons. 00:08:28.97\00:08:32.17 So when you think of an owner 00:08:32.21\00:08:33.84 or a person who owns a weapon, 00:08:33.91\00:08:35.24 and the person who is in the military 00:08:35.28\00:08:36.61 carrying a weapon, 00:08:36.64\00:08:37.98 there's not a whole lot of difference, 00:08:38.01\00:08:39.35 except one is an appointment by your country 00:08:39.38\00:08:41.18 to defend your country 00:08:41.25\00:08:42.68 and the other one is a personal possession 00:08:42.72\00:08:44.12 to possibly defend your own home 00:08:44.15\00:08:45.79 and your property. 00:08:45.82\00:08:47.29 So it's not a doctrinal position, 00:08:47.32\00:08:48.72 someone list as non-combatants, 00:08:48.76\00:08:50.79 and they have other functions 00:08:50.86\00:08:52.19 that they can do in the military. 00:08:52.23\00:08:54.00 Once again, that's a preference. 00:08:54.03\00:08:56.16 But when you begin a Bible study with anyone, 00:08:56.20\00:08:57.97 the first thing you should do is always begin with a topic 00:08:58.00\00:09:01.00 that both of you can agree on. 00:09:01.04\00:09:03.04 When you find common ground, it makes it easier 00:09:03.07\00:09:05.44 to become accustomed and familiar 00:09:05.47\00:09:08.01 with the person to see 00:09:08.04\00:09:09.38 how they would react or respond in a Bible study situation. 00:09:09.41\00:09:12.78 Also, if you don't agree that the Bible is going 00:09:12.81\00:09:15.85 to be the foundation of your study, 00:09:15.88\00:09:17.65 as Pastor Rafferty just pointed out, 00:09:17.72\00:09:19.22 the New World Translation 00:09:19.25\00:09:20.59 is not like the King James Version Bible 00:09:20.62\00:09:22.36 or the New King James Version. 00:09:22.39\00:09:23.89 It is exclusively a Jehovah's Witness Bible, 00:09:23.93\00:09:26.53 altered and doctored by them to fit into what they believe. 00:09:26.56\00:09:29.70 So be careful that if you don't agree 00:09:29.73\00:09:31.17 that the Bible itself is going to be the foundation, 00:09:31.20\00:09:33.67 it's going to be very difficult. 00:09:33.70\00:09:35.37 Also, be careful not to argue about beliefs 00:09:35.40\00:09:38.67 that cannot be answered by the Bible. 00:09:38.71\00:09:40.48 The other one, avoid changing the topic in the middle 00:09:40.51\00:09:43.71 of a question because sometimes people do that 00:09:43.75\00:09:46.38 to avoid answering the question. 00:09:46.41\00:09:48.42 Also, it is better to say the Bible teaches rather 00:09:48.45\00:09:51.19 than to say, this is what I believe. 00:09:51.22\00:09:53.15 This way you give authority to the Bible, 00:09:53.19\00:09:55.69 rather than searching the Bible to give authority 00:09:55.72\00:09:58.53 to what you believe. 00:09:58.56\00:09:59.89 Put the Bible as the supreme authority 00:09:59.93\00:10:01.86 and avoid saying, I believe, I believe, I believe. 00:10:01.90\00:10:04.63 Say, this is what God's Word says. 00:10:04.67\00:10:07.07 Amen. Amen. Thank you. 00:10:07.10\00:10:09.30 We are reading the question as you send them to us. 00:10:09.34\00:10:13.94 So this is the way the question was sent. 00:10:13.98\00:10:15.88 That's the way we presented it. 00:10:15.91\00:10:17.25 We now go to Pastor Ryan Day. 00:10:17.31\00:10:19.15 And this is from Carol from London, 00:10:19.18\00:10:22.12 a very honest and sincere question. 00:10:22.15\00:10:25.49 She's quoting Hebrews 11:6 00:10:25.52\00:10:27.76 and she says, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God. 00:10:27.82\00:10:31.39 How do I get faith?" All right. 00:10:31.43\00:10:35.80 To me, that's a simple answer and I believe the Bible 00:10:35.83\00:10:37.83 is absolutely clear on this. 00:10:37.90\00:10:39.67 As soon as I read this question, 00:10:39.70\00:10:41.67 immediately Romans 10:17 came to my mind, 00:10:41.70\00:10:45.41 because the Bible makes it clear in Romans 10:17, 00:10:45.44\00:10:47.71 it says, "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing 00:10:47.74\00:10:51.48 by the Word of God." 00:10:51.51\00:10:53.18 How do we get faith? 00:10:53.21\00:10:54.55 We get faith by placing our trust in the Word of God. 00:10:54.58\00:10:58.85 Abraham was saved by grace through faith just as we are, 00:10:58.89\00:11:02.52 but it was by his faith and his trust in God's word. 00:11:02.56\00:11:05.43 Abraham didn't have a written word. 00:11:05.46\00:11:08.26 He didn't have the Bible all laid out in words, 00:11:08.30\00:11:11.40 he had to trust in God's word, as God told him, 00:11:11.43\00:11:13.97 and God spoke to him. 00:11:14.00\00:11:15.34 He trusted in God's word in that relationship 00:11:15.37\00:11:18.61 between himself and the Lord and believing 00:11:18.64\00:11:20.58 and trusting in God's word, built his faith in God 00:11:20.61\00:11:23.91 as God acted upon His promises. 00:11:23.98\00:11:26.18 Another text that comes to mind, 00:11:26.21\00:11:27.55 Jesus Himself said in Matthew 4:4, 00:11:27.58\00:11:29.68 "And He answered and said to him, 00:11:29.72\00:11:31.62 speaking to the devil, he said, 'It is written, 00:11:31.65\00:11:33.72 Man shall not live by bread alone, 00:11:33.76\00:11:35.32 but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." 00:11:35.36\00:11:39.49 It is our duty to live according to the Word of God. 00:11:39.53\00:11:42.10 And if we are saved by grace, through faith, 00:11:42.13\00:11:44.80 our trust in God, 00:11:44.87\00:11:46.23 then we must trust in His Word. 00:11:46.27\00:11:48.37 John 17:17, Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, 00:11:48.40\00:11:51.94 as, you know, as he's there... 00:11:51.97\00:11:53.98 And He's struggling with the sin pressing upon Him, 00:11:54.01\00:11:56.44 and He's praying to the Father prior 00:11:56.48\00:11:57.95 to becoming arrested and going to the cross. 00:11:57.98\00:12:00.32 It says there in John 17:17, he says, sanctify them, 00:12:00.35\00:12:03.25 speaking of His people, 00:12:03.28\00:12:04.62 His disciples speaking of us, "Sanctify them by your truth, 00:12:04.65\00:12:08.59 your word is truth." 00:12:08.62\00:12:10.99 And right there in that same chapter, 00:12:11.06\00:12:12.39 just a few verses above, in verse 3, he says, 00:12:12.43\00:12:14.93 "This is eternal life, that they may know you 00:12:15.00\00:12:16.80 the only true God, 00:12:16.83\00:12:18.17 and Jesus Christ whom thou has send." 00:12:18.20\00:12:19.60 It is our duty to know God, as we spend time in His Word, 00:12:19.63\00:12:23.51 our faith builds in Him, we begin to trust in His Word 00:12:23.54\00:12:26.47 because God acts upon His promises. 00:12:26.51\00:12:28.64 The Bible says God cannot lie. 00:12:28.68\00:12:30.25 And as we see that God comes through for us, 00:12:30.28\00:12:32.25 and He's there for us, and we learn of Him 00:12:32.28\00:12:35.18 and we get to know Him through His Word, 00:12:35.22\00:12:37.39 then we build our faith in Him, and therefore, 00:12:37.42\00:12:40.12 we experience the grace of God. 00:12:40.16\00:12:42.79 Thank you. Praise the Lord. 00:12:42.82\00:12:44.73 Well, I like to say something to our folks that are with us, 00:12:44.76\00:12:47.50 because I see this question has no name 00:12:47.60\00:12:49.80 and no place where it came from. 00:12:49.83\00:12:51.57 And it's fine if you don't want to mention your name 00:12:51.63\00:12:53.20 or the place you came from, 00:12:53.23\00:12:54.60 maybe this one came in by email. 00:12:54.64\00:12:55.97 I know some emails are kind of camouflaged 00:12:56.00\00:12:58.57 that's who they came from, 00:12:58.61\00:13:00.18 but do us a favor and send your, 00:13:00.21\00:13:02.34 at least your first name and where you're writing from. 00:13:02.38\00:13:05.15 This one, we don't know who it's from. 00:13:05.18\00:13:06.55 But it says in the book... 00:13:06.58\00:13:07.95 This is for Pastor Rafferty, by the way. 00:13:08.02\00:13:09.62 Pastor Rafferty, 00:13:09.65\00:13:10.99 "In the Book of Numbers 22:20-22, 00:13:11.02\00:13:14.56 God allowed Balaam to go. 00:13:14.59\00:13:18.33 So Balaam went. 00:13:18.36\00:13:20.20 And it says in verse 21, it says, 00:13:20.23\00:13:21.66 "God's anger aroused because Balaam went." 00:13:21.70\00:13:24.33 Verse 22. 00:13:24.37\00:13:25.70 Why did God change His mind so quickly? 00:13:25.73\00:13:28.60 Why did God tell him to go? 00:13:28.64\00:13:30.87 Then get angry when he went?" That is a great question. 00:13:30.91\00:13:34.54 Just open up to Numbers Chapter 20, 00:13:34.58\00:13:36.41 starting in verse 20, 00:13:36.44\00:13:37.81 "And God said unto Balaam at night..." 00:13:37.85\00:13:40.22 "God came unto Balaam at night, 00:13:40.25\00:13:41.58 and said unto him, 'If the men come to call thee, 00:13:41.62\00:13:44.59 rise up and go with them, but yet the word 00:13:44.65\00:13:47.16 which I shall say unto thee, thou shalt do. 00:13:47.19\00:13:49.66 And Balaam rose up in the morning 00:13:49.69\00:13:51.03 and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. 00:13:51.09\00:13:54.13 And God's anger was kindled because he went, 00:13:54.20\00:13:56.10 and the angel of the Lord stood in the way 00:13:56.13\00:13:57.83 for an adversary against him. 00:13:57.90\00:13:59.67 But now he was riding upon his ass, 00:13:59.70\00:14:01.90 and his two servants were with him." 00:14:01.94\00:14:04.41 So when we look more closely at these verses, 00:14:04.47\00:14:08.44 it becomes pretty clear, 00:14:08.48\00:14:09.81 we discovered that God did not allow Balaam 00:14:09.84\00:14:12.91 to go with the princes of Moab. 00:14:12.95\00:14:14.78 That's not what God says. 00:14:14.82\00:14:16.15 God actually says, 00:14:16.18\00:14:17.52 "If the men come to call upon you, 00:14:17.55\00:14:19.99 rise up and go with them." 00:14:20.02\00:14:21.36 Okay? 00:14:21.42\00:14:22.76 So apparently, the men didn't come and call upon Balaam. 00:14:22.79\00:14:25.59 Apparently, he was so inclined 00:14:25.63\00:14:27.96 to the wages of unrighteousness, 00:14:27.96\00:14:29.63 that when he rose up, 00:14:29.66\00:14:31.00 he went with them of his own accord. 00:14:31.03\00:14:32.60 Said, where are those guys? I need to find those guys. 00:14:32.63\00:14:35.17 And so I think God was putting up kind of a wall 00:14:35.20\00:14:37.41 or a hedge of protection for Balaam. 00:14:37.44\00:14:39.67 He does that to us 00:14:39.71\00:14:41.31 when we are inclined to go in a direction 00:14:41.34\00:14:43.28 that's not in harmony with His perfect will. 00:14:43.31\00:14:46.01 So He has an allowance that He gives to us many times. 00:14:46.05\00:14:50.19 It isn't in harmony with His perfect will, 00:14:50.22\00:14:52.02 it's His imperfect will we could say 00:14:52.05\00:14:53.86 where He overrules. 00:14:53.89\00:14:55.49 And I think this is what happened with Balaam 00:14:55.52\00:14:57.13 and the reason I think this happened with Balaam 00:14:57.16\00:14:58.76 is because secondly, as he's on his way, 00:14:58.79\00:15:02.40 God talks to the donkey. 00:15:02.43\00:15:03.80 Okay, if you're not gonna listen to me, 00:15:03.83\00:15:05.70 I'm gonna talk to the donkey, 00:15:05.73\00:15:08.30 I'm not gonna use the other word, 00:15:08.37\00:15:09.80 and maybe he'll listen and he did. 00:15:09.84\00:15:11.44 And he stopped. 00:15:11.47\00:15:12.81 And so, God, first of all, tried to put a roadblock 00:15:12.84\00:15:15.44 to Balaam by not impressing the princess to go 00:15:15.48\00:15:17.88 and fetch him in the morning. 00:15:17.91\00:15:19.25 BalaamA anticipating it, he goes anyway, 00:15:19.28\00:15:21.25 so God puts a roadblock with the donkey. 00:15:21.28\00:15:23.55 Finally, he gets upset with a donkey. 00:15:23.59\00:15:25.25 So God actually performs a miracle says, 00:15:25.29\00:15:27.06 I'm going to make this donkey speak, 00:15:27.09\00:15:28.66 he's going to talk to you, and he's going to try 00:15:28.69\00:15:30.03 to talk some sense into you. 00:15:30.06\00:15:31.39 And again, now Balaam is so set on going 00:15:31.46\00:15:34.00 that he's willing to go even though God says, 00:15:34.03\00:15:36.70 okay, I'm going to let you go. 00:15:36.73\00:15:38.07 All right, it's not my perfect will, 00:15:38.10\00:15:39.43 I'm gonna let you go but you can only speak 00:15:39.47\00:15:40.80 the things that I say that you can speak. 00:15:40.84\00:15:43.17 So I think that in the context of this, 00:15:43.20\00:15:45.34 that is really what's taking place here. 00:15:45.37\00:15:47.68 God is allowing Balaam to do something 00:15:47.71\00:15:49.51 that He really didn't want him to do, 00:15:49.54\00:15:50.88 trying to stop him from doing it. 00:15:50.95\00:15:52.28 But as we are many times we do, 00:15:52.31\00:15:54.45 we're inclined to do things our own way 00:15:54.52\00:15:56.35 and not trust and follow what God wants us to do. 00:15:56.38\00:15:58.82 Amen. Thank you. Thank you very much. 00:15:58.85\00:16:00.49 Very good. 00:16:00.52\00:16:01.99 Well, we now come to Pastor Lomacang 00:16:02.02\00:16:04.13 and this is a long question. 00:16:04.16\00:16:06.90 And again, we don't have who it's from, 00:16:06.93\00:16:09.06 but we thank you for sending in your question anyway. 00:16:09.10\00:16:11.87 It says, "Pastor Lomacang regarding trinity doctrine, 00:16:11.90\00:16:15.50 God says He alone at one point had immortality. 00:16:15.54\00:16:20.04 1 Timothy 6:16, Seventh-day Adventists 00:16:20.08\00:16:23.61 believe in three Godheads, all are separate God, 00:16:23.65\00:16:28.22 the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, 00:16:28.25\00:16:31.19 and they are three persons separate, 00:16:31.22\00:16:33.46 like in a government arrangement 00:16:33.49\00:16:35.26 according to your church. 00:16:35.29\00:16:37.23 My question to you is which one of the Godheads 00:16:37.26\00:16:41.80 had immortality? 00:16:41.86\00:16:43.20 Because 1 Timothy 6:16 says, 00:16:43.23\00:16:46.47 only one person has it unless all three are the same person 00:16:46.50\00:16:50.84 like the Catholic Church says." 00:16:50.87\00:16:53.81 Wow, long question. 00:16:53.84\00:16:56.21 I'm gonna take my time on this one, 00:16:56.24\00:16:57.58 let me just make something very clear at the very outset, 00:16:57.61\00:16:59.95 I'll go directly to the point. 00:17:00.05\00:17:01.48 Seventh-day Adventists don't believe in three Godheads 00:17:01.55\00:17:04.69 that is nowhere in the creed of our faith at all. 00:17:04.72\00:17:08.69 We believe in one God. 00:17:08.76\00:17:11.43 And we find in Deuteronomy 6:4, 00:17:11.46\00:17:14.56 the Bible says, "Hear, O Israel: 00:17:14.60\00:17:16.90 The Lord our God, the Lord is one." 00:17:16.93\00:17:19.33 That's what we believe. 00:17:19.37\00:17:20.74 Now, when you look at in context of that, 00:17:20.77\00:17:23.74 you have to understand in the very beginning. 00:17:23.77\00:17:26.31 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 00:17:26.34\00:17:29.88 And as we continue to unfold that 00:17:29.91\00:17:31.31 which I'm going to do that right now, 00:17:31.35\00:17:33.08 you'll begin to see what the word Godhead 00:17:33.11\00:17:35.88 is all about. 00:17:35.92\00:17:38.19 If only one in the Godhead had immortality, 00:17:38.25\00:17:41.52 then there'll be two reliant on one, 00:17:41.56\00:17:44.79 but Jesus will say, well, I need the Father 00:17:44.83\00:17:47.00 to exist permanently. 00:17:47.03\00:17:48.86 And the Holy Spirit will say, well, I need God 00:17:48.90\00:17:50.63 or the Father or the Son to exist permanently. 00:17:50.67\00:17:53.23 That's not what the Bible teaches. 00:17:53.27\00:17:54.90 All three are not the same person, 00:17:54.97\00:17:57.17 they are distinct. 00:17:57.21\00:17:58.87 Let's look at the representation 00:17:58.91\00:18:00.31 of the three spoken of. 00:18:00.34\00:18:01.78 And by the way, that God is one but the Godhead consists 00:18:01.81\00:18:05.31 of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 00:18:05.35\00:18:07.82 Let's go and break that down. 00:18:07.88\00:18:09.72 Matthew 3:16-17, at the baptism of Jesus, 00:18:09.75\00:18:12.99 "When He had been baptized, let's see first, 00:18:13.02\00:18:15.12 now Jesus came up immediately out of the water, 00:18:15.16\00:18:18.93 and behold, the heavens were open to Him. 00:18:18.96\00:18:20.93 And He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove 00:18:20.96\00:18:24.60 and alighting upon Him. 00:18:24.63\00:18:26.23 And suddenly a voice came from heaven." 00:18:26.27\00:18:28.40 Let's look at that. 00:18:28.47\00:18:29.80 Jesus getting baptized, 00:18:29.84\00:18:31.17 Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, 00:18:31.21\00:18:32.64 and a voice coming from heaven. 00:18:32.67\00:18:34.01 That's simply talking about not one person, 00:18:34.04\00:18:35.74 not Jesus being a ventriloquist but the Father saying, 00:18:35.78\00:18:39.55 "This is My beloved Son, in whom I'm well pleased." 00:18:39.58\00:18:43.22 Then we go to John 1:1-4, 00:18:43.25\00:18:45.55 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, 00:18:45.59\00:18:47.72 and the Word was God. 00:18:47.76\00:18:49.09 He was in the beginning with God. 00:18:49.12\00:18:50.56 All things were made through Him, 00:18:50.59\00:18:52.19 and without Him nothing was made that was made. 00:18:52.23\00:18:54.83 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." 00:18:54.83\00:18:57.57 When you study the Greek, 00:18:57.60\00:19:00.10 it is in essence saying in Him was life unborrowed, underived. 00:19:00.14\00:19:03.84 He didn't get life from someplace else, 00:19:03.87\00:19:05.47 because in the beginning was the Word, 00:19:05.54\00:19:07.78 the Word was with God, the Word was God. 00:19:07.81\00:19:10.31 John Chapter 1 goes farther back than Genesis Chapter 1, 00:19:10.35\00:19:13.78 and Hebrews Chapter 1 goes farther back than 00:19:13.82\00:19:15.78 both of them when the worlds were created 00:19:15.82\00:19:18.25 through Jesus Christ. 00:19:18.32\00:19:19.92 Let's keep going. 00:19:19.95\00:19:21.29 Let's talk about His incarnation. 00:19:21.32\00:19:22.86 When Jesus took on human flesh, 00:19:22.89\00:19:25.73 He put His eternal existence at risk, 00:19:25.76\00:19:28.60 because had He failed in His mission 00:19:28.63\00:19:31.17 and become subject to Satan's temptation, 00:19:31.20\00:19:33.64 He would have lost His eternal existence. 00:19:33.67\00:19:36.17 Let's look at this in 2 Corinthians 5:21, 00:19:36.20\00:19:39.07 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, 00:19:39.11\00:19:42.38 that we might become the righteousness 00:19:42.41\00:19:44.15 of God in Him." 00:19:44.18\00:19:45.55 Galatians 4:4 says, 00:19:45.58\00:19:46.92 "When the fullness of time had come, 00:19:46.95\00:19:48.72 God sent forth His Son born of a woman, 00:19:48.75\00:19:51.22 born under the law." 00:19:51.29\00:19:52.62 That's called the incarnation, or the condescension of Christ. 00:19:52.65\00:19:55.76 But speaking of the eternal nature of Jesus, 00:19:55.79\00:19:57.79 Hebrews 1:8 says, "But to the son, He says this," 00:19:57.83\00:20:01.26 the Father speaking to the Son, "'Your throne, 00:20:01.30\00:20:03.67 O God, is forever and ever.'" 00:20:03.70\00:20:06.20 Well, then who is that referring to? 00:20:06.23\00:20:07.57 Let's look at Psalms 45:6, "Your throne, O God, 00:20:07.60\00:20:11.04 is forever and ever, a scepter of righteousness 00:20:11.07\00:20:14.54 is the scepter of Your kingdom." 00:20:14.58\00:20:16.31 Well, wait a minute your throne is forever. 00:20:16.34\00:20:18.51 David the Psalmist said that about Him. 00:20:18.55\00:20:20.35 And we see in Hebrews 1, 00:20:20.38\00:20:21.78 that's what the Father said about the son. 00:20:21.82\00:20:23.75 Habakkuk 1:12, 00:20:23.79\00:20:26.32 "Are you not from everlasting O Lord my God, my Holy One? 00:20:26.35\00:20:30.83 We shall not die. 00:20:30.86\00:20:32.19 O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment." 00:20:32.23\00:20:34.03 Now He calls Him, "O Rock, 00:20:34.10\00:20:35.80 You have marked them for correction." 00:20:35.83\00:20:37.80 Who is the rock? 00:20:37.83\00:20:39.17 1 Corinthians 10:4, 00:20:39.20\00:20:41.57 "They drank of that spiritual Rock that follow them 00:20:41.60\00:20:43.97 and that rock was Christ." 00:20:44.01\00:20:45.84 Christ is called the Rock 00:20:45.87\00:20:47.38 before His earthly ministry began. 00:20:47.41\00:20:51.68 That's what Habakkuk calls Him 00:20:51.71\00:20:53.31 and then in His earthly ministry, 00:20:53.35\00:20:55.15 Paul looks back and says, 00:20:55.18\00:20:56.55 "They drank from that Rock that followed them." 00:20:56.58\00:20:58.89 Well, the Rock that followed them was in the Old Testament. 00:20:58.92\00:21:01.79 Look at the creation of man. 00:21:01.86\00:21:03.49 This is the word Elohim, the plurality of the Godhead. 00:21:03.53\00:21:07.13 Genesis 1:26, 00:21:07.20\00:21:09.00 then God the word Elohim, plural said, 00:21:09.03\00:21:11.50 "Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, 00:21:11.53\00:21:15.57 let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, 00:21:15.60\00:21:17.21 the birds of the air." 00:21:17.24\00:21:18.57 The rest of that you can read later on. 00:21:18.64\00:21:20.41 Then Genesis 3:22, "Then God said, 00:21:20.44\00:21:23.71 'Behold, the man has become like one of Us, 00:21:23.75\00:21:27.48 knowing good and evil." 00:21:27.52\00:21:28.85 Then you go to the Tower of Babel. 00:21:28.88\00:21:30.42 Genesis 11:7, 00:21:30.45\00:21:32.25 "Come let us go down 00:21:32.29\00:21:33.76 and there confuse their languages, 00:21:33.79\00:21:36.06 that they may not understand one speech over another." 00:21:36.09\00:21:39.43 And then Isaiah, 00:21:39.46\00:21:40.80 when the commission came to Him, 00:21:40.83\00:21:42.23 the Lord says, "Whom shall I send, 00:21:42.26\00:21:45.60 and who will go for Us?" 00:21:45.63\00:21:47.64 So in a very large nutshell, 00:21:47.67\00:21:50.07 the Godhead consists of three co-eternal persons, 00:21:50.11\00:21:53.78 not three Godheads, and all three are one. 00:21:53.81\00:21:58.45 Wow! Thank you very much. 00:21:58.48\00:22:00.15 A lot said in a short time. Thank you. 00:22:00.18\00:22:03.55 Well, Pastor Ryan Day, 00:22:03.59\00:22:05.79 are you still locked and loaded? 00:22:05.82\00:22:07.16 I'm ready. 00:22:07.19\00:22:08.99 Now your question is from Jenny and she says, 00:22:09.02\00:22:11.96 "Please, explain Matthew 6:5-8?" Absolutely. 00:22:11.99\00:22:16.33 So the best way to explain this is to go 00:22:16.36\00:22:17.90 right to the text, and just read through it 00:22:17.97\00:22:20.00 and pick it apart. 00:22:20.04\00:22:21.37 So we're going to start with Matthew 6:5 00:22:21.44\00:22:24.37 so Jesus is giving some instruction, 00:22:24.41\00:22:26.31 and He says to them, "And when you pray, 00:22:26.34\00:22:28.38 you shall not be like the hypocrites. 00:22:28.41\00:22:30.28 For they love to pray standing in the synagogues 00:22:30.31\00:22:33.21 and on the corners of the streets, 00:22:33.25\00:22:34.85 that they may be seen by men." 00:22:34.92\00:22:36.82 And He goes on to say, "Assuredly, I say to you, 00:22:36.85\00:22:38.79 they have their reward." 00:22:38.82\00:22:40.16 So right here, He's highlighting the fact 00:22:40.19\00:22:41.86 that He is actually talking about these Pharisees 00:22:41.89\00:22:43.79 that lived in His day, 00:22:43.83\00:22:45.16 and He's instructing His followers, 00:22:45.23\00:22:46.76 His disciples, His people 00:22:46.80\00:22:48.20 who are hearing His instruction. 00:22:48.26\00:22:49.60 He's saying, "Look, don't be like these guys 00:22:49.63\00:22:51.43 because these guys think they're holy. 00:22:51.47\00:22:53.07 They think that they have a relationship with God, 00:22:53.10\00:22:55.24 but yet they very selfishly 00:22:55.30\00:22:57.57 and with a certain agenda stand openly in front of people 00:22:57.61\00:23:00.94 so that they may be seen by men for their own glory." 00:23:00.98\00:23:04.41 And so Christ is saying, "Don't do that." 00:23:04.45\00:23:06.38 And He goes on to continue to say in verse 6, 00:23:06.41\00:23:08.82 He says, "But when you pray, go into your room, 00:23:08.85\00:23:11.32 and when you have shut your door, 00:23:11.35\00:23:13.09 pray to your Father who is in the secret place, 00:23:13.12\00:23:15.79 and your Father who sees you in secret 00:23:15.82\00:23:17.49 will reward you openly." 00:23:17.53\00:23:19.63 And so just pausing right there again, 00:23:19.66\00:23:21.26 just to highlight the fact that when we pray, 00:23:21.30\00:23:23.80 we aren't to just go out. 00:23:23.83\00:23:25.17 You know, I don't run around 3ABN going, oh, 00:23:25.23\00:23:27.44 Heavenly Father, you know, 00:23:27.47\00:23:28.80 saying my prayers out openly around everyone. 00:23:28.84\00:23:31.41 Some people do this. 00:23:31.47\00:23:33.38 Some people want to be seen by men 00:23:33.41\00:23:35.04 because they want other men to think 00:23:35.08\00:23:37.05 that they are somehow some extra pious 00:23:37.08\00:23:38.91 or extra holy individuals, 00:23:38.95\00:23:40.48 that somehow they have an extra special relationship with God. 00:23:40.52\00:23:43.65 We must follow the instruction 00:23:43.69\00:23:45.05 even given right there in the first angel's message, 00:23:45.09\00:23:49.19 "Fear God and give glory to Him." 00:23:49.22\00:23:51.69 God deserves the glory, not us, even John the Baptist, 00:23:51.73\00:23:54.50 if he could speak to these guys, he would say, 00:23:54.56\00:23:56.06 "He must increase and I must decrease." 00:23:56.10\00:23:58.90 So what God is saying is go and pray in private, 00:23:58.93\00:24:01.10 I will bless you openly, but don't be like these guys 00:24:01.14\00:24:04.01 who are doing it for personal gain, 00:24:04.04\00:24:05.37 so that they may have their own glory be seen 00:24:05.41\00:24:07.91 by men and received the praise of men. 00:24:07.94\00:24:10.01 And then He continues on to say, 00:24:10.05\00:24:11.38 "And when you pray, do not pray with 00:24:11.41\00:24:12.75 vain repetitions as the heathen do, 00:24:12.78\00:24:14.98 for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 00:24:15.02\00:24:17.85 Therefore do not be like them, 00:24:17.89\00:24:19.42 for your Father knows the things that you have need 00:24:19.45\00:24:21.22 of before you ask Him." 00:24:21.26\00:24:22.89 There are many even Christians today 00:24:22.92\00:24:24.59 that practice these praying in vain repetitions, 00:24:24.63\00:24:27.93 you know, Hail Marys, and our Fathers. 00:24:27.96\00:24:29.53 I've even, people I've seen in some 00:24:29.56\00:24:31.53 of the previous churches I attended in the past 00:24:31.60\00:24:33.37 they would just say over and over the same phrases, 00:24:33.40\00:24:35.80 you know, praise God, praise God, praise God, 00:24:35.84\00:24:37.17 bless God, bless God, forgive me, 00:24:37.21\00:24:38.54 forgive me, forgive me. 00:24:38.57\00:24:39.91 As if somehow saying this in a vain repetitious fashion 00:24:39.94\00:24:42.84 is going to somehow get the ear of God. 00:24:42.88\00:24:44.61 God says I heard you the first time. 00:24:44.65\00:24:46.38 Okay, go and pray in private and know that God knows 00:24:46.41\00:24:49.78 what you need before you ask it. 00:24:49.82\00:24:51.15 Also, Romans 8:26. 00:24:51.19\00:24:52.95 Sometimes when we don't know what to say, 00:24:52.99\00:24:54.69 the Holy Spirit is there to intercede for us 00:24:54.72\00:24:56.93 to take our prayers to the Father. 00:24:56.96\00:24:58.46 So don't be like that. 00:24:58.49\00:25:00.16 Be like Jesus humble always. Amen. 00:25:00.20\00:25:04.07 Thank you very much. 00:25:04.10\00:25:05.43 Well, perhaps you have just tuned in 00:25:05.50\00:25:08.77 and you're wondering what's going on, 00:25:08.80\00:25:10.14 what are all these questions? 00:25:10.17\00:25:11.51 Where are they coming from? 00:25:11.54\00:25:12.87 Well, you're watching 3ABN Today, Bible Q and A, 00:25:12.91\00:25:15.51 questions and answers, and you can participate 00:25:15.54\00:25:18.11 just as many people have. 00:25:18.15\00:25:20.08 And that's why we have these questions. 00:25:20.12\00:25:21.75 They've come from all over the world. 00:25:21.78\00:25:24.12 And I want to tell you how you can participate. 00:25:24.15\00:25:27.36 You can send an email by sending it 00:25:27.39\00:25:29.96 to BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:25:29.99\00:25:33.63 BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:25:33.66\00:25:38.17 You may also text in your question, 00:25:38.20\00:25:40.77 618-228-3975 00:25:40.80\00:25:43.67 is the number, 618-228-3975. 00:25:43.71\00:25:48.38 Instagram. 00:25:48.41\00:25:49.74 Some people love to use Instagram. 00:25:49.78\00:25:51.11 And if you do, you can send that to 3abn_official 00:25:51.15\00:25:55.72 So we are now ready for the next question. 00:25:59.55\00:26:02.22 And the next one comes to Pastor James Rafferty, 00:26:02.26\00:26:05.36 and you ready? Yes, locked and loaded. 00:26:05.39\00:26:08.30 Locked and loaded. All right. 00:26:08.33\00:26:10.53 Here we go. 00:26:10.57\00:26:11.90 "If according to Bible scripture, 00:26:11.97\00:26:14.00 such as John 3:16, 00:26:14.04\00:26:16.10 and many others that state when a person accepts Christ 00:26:16.14\00:26:19.87 as the Savior, 00:26:19.91\00:26:21.44 and is baptized and receives Jesus' blood 00:26:21.48\00:26:24.78 that cleanses them from sin. 00:26:24.81\00:26:26.92 Why is a person under probation? 00:26:26.95\00:26:30.12 If the individual lives in Christ 00:26:30.15\00:26:32.89 from that point forward, 00:26:32.92\00:26:38.53 the blood of Christ is continuous throughout 00:26:38.56\00:26:41.66 the duration of one's life. 00:26:41.70\00:26:43.30 Has probation been misapplied, or not explained correctly?" 00:26:43.33\00:26:49.10 Great question. 00:26:49.14\00:26:51.14 John 5:24, says this, 00:26:51.17\00:26:54.31 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, 00:26:54.34\00:26:55.98 He that hears my word, 00:26:56.01\00:26:58.15 and believes on him that sent me, 00:26:58.18\00:27:00.45 has everlasting life, 00:27:00.48\00:27:02.68 and shall not come into condemnation, 00:27:02.72\00:27:05.39 but has passed from death unto life." 00:27:05.42\00:27:08.76 I believe that is what the questioner is saying. 00:27:08.79\00:27:10.53 That's what you're saying. 00:27:10.56\00:27:11.93 That's the point you're making and it's a very valid point. 00:27:11.96\00:27:14.00 It's all through the scriptures. 00:27:14.03\00:27:15.96 So when we think about probation, 00:27:16.00\00:27:19.07 in a temporal sense, in a civil sense, 00:27:19.13\00:27:21.27 in our world today, we think about a time 00:27:21.30\00:27:23.51 that is allotted to a person that's charged 00:27:23.54\00:27:26.01 with a criminal act, and under God, 00:27:26.04\00:27:29.04 the human race is on probation. 00:27:29.08\00:27:32.05 We have been charged with a criminal act of sin 00:27:32.11\00:27:34.82 of crucifying the Son of God, 00:27:34.85\00:27:36.58 and we've been released on probation 00:27:36.62\00:27:39.42 by the grace of God 00:27:39.45\00:27:41.42 and our choices during this probationary time. 00:27:41.46\00:27:46.90 Our choices, whether they're for God 00:27:46.93\00:27:49.16 or against God during this probationary time 00:27:49.23\00:27:51.00 don't end that probationary time. 00:27:51.03\00:27:53.07 The probationary time continues just like a criminal. 00:27:53.10\00:27:55.87 If he's put on probation, that probationary time continues, 00:27:55.90\00:27:58.21 regardless of his good choices or bad choices, 00:27:58.24\00:28:00.44 except if he's making bad choices, 00:28:00.48\00:28:03.18 there comes a time when the criminal justice 00:28:03.21\00:28:05.41 system will hold him accountable 00:28:05.45\00:28:06.78 for those bad choices and perhaps put him back 00:28:06.82\00:28:08.78 into prison or back into jail. 00:28:08.82\00:28:10.39 God is working in the same way with the human race, 00:28:10.42\00:28:12.99 we're under probationary time. 00:28:13.02\00:28:15.52 If during that probationary time we click all the boxes, 00:28:15.56\00:28:17.99 we're like, I believe in Jesus, He's my Savior, I accept Him. 00:28:18.03\00:28:20.83 We're not going to come into condemnation. 00:28:20.86\00:28:22.56 The probationary time stays the same. 00:28:22.63\00:28:24.77 It ends at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ 00:28:24.80\00:28:26.53 or just before the Second Coming 00:28:26.57\00:28:27.90 of Jesus Christ probation closes. 00:28:27.94\00:28:29.70 That probationary time is the same, 00:28:29.74\00:28:31.51 but we're not going to come under condemnation 00:28:31.54\00:28:33.44 because we are ticking all the boxes, 00:28:33.48\00:28:35.41 we are accepting Christ as our Savior. 00:28:35.44\00:28:37.98 We are working out our salvation. 00:28:38.01\00:28:41.28 By the grace of God, 00:28:41.32\00:28:42.65 we are believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior. 00:28:42.68\00:28:45.32 So yes, if we've accepted Christ, 00:28:45.35\00:28:47.82 the Bible says clearly 00:28:47.86\00:28:49.19 that we have passed from death to life. 00:28:49.22\00:28:50.63 We don't come under condemnation. 00:28:50.66\00:28:52.26 Whoever believes in Him has eternal life. 00:28:52.29\00:28:54.60 John 3:17 tells us that, yet probation continues 00:28:54.63\00:28:58.17 until according to Revelation Chapter 22. 00:28:58.20\00:29:00.34 God can look out on the whole world 00:29:00.37\00:29:01.90 and He can say you know what? 00:29:01.94\00:29:03.44 If I kept probationary time open for another month 00:29:03.47\00:29:06.17 or another year or another day or another hour 00:29:06.21\00:29:08.81 or another minute, 00:29:08.84\00:29:10.18 it wouldn't make any difference. 00:29:10.21\00:29:11.55 He that is holy is going to be holy still, 00:29:11.58\00:29:12.91 he who is righteous is going to be righteous still, 00:29:12.95\00:29:14.28 he who is filthy is gonna be filthy still, 00:29:14.32\00:29:15.65 he that is unrighteous is going to be unrighteous still. 00:29:15.68\00:29:17.62 Behold, I come quickly, 00:29:17.65\00:29:19.02 My reward is with me to give to every man 00:29:19.05\00:29:20.46 according to his work. 00:29:20.49\00:29:22.42 So, definitely, we do not need to worry about probation 00:29:22.49\00:29:27.40 if we've accepted Christ as our Savior. 00:29:27.40\00:29:29.50 Probationary time however continues on until Jesus Christ 00:29:29.53\00:29:33.13 as it says in 2 Peter 3:9, one of my favorite verses, 00:29:33.17\00:29:35.77 "God is long suffering toward us, 00:29:35.84\00:29:37.74 not wanting any that should perish 00:29:37.77\00:29:39.44 but that all should come to repentance." 00:29:39.47\00:29:40.81 When Jesus Christ looks on this earth 00:29:40.84\00:29:42.18 and says there's no one else is going to repent. 00:29:42.21\00:29:43.65 There's no one else that's going to change. 00:29:43.68\00:29:45.05 Let's wrap this up. 00:29:45.08\00:29:46.41 And let's get down there and get my people out. 00:29:46.45\00:29:49.42 Praise the Lord. 00:29:49.45\00:29:51.09 Thank you. 00:29:51.12\00:29:52.49 Well, Pastor Lomacang. 00:29:52.52\00:29:54.49 Are you ready? Sure. 00:29:54.52\00:29:55.86 We now have a question for you. 00:29:55.89\00:29:57.43 This one is coming from Timothy in Uganda. 00:29:57.46\00:30:00.16 And it says, "Pastor Lomacang, can you please explain to us." 00:30:00.20\00:30:05.23 Apparently there are several in the home watching. 00:30:05.27\00:30:08.84 "Can you please explain to us the relationship 00:30:08.90\00:30:11.41 between Ephesians 4:30, 00:30:11.44\00:30:14.31 and the seal of God versus the mark of the beast?" 00:30:14.34\00:30:17.88 Sure. Ephesians 4:30. 00:30:17.91\00:30:19.75 Let's begin right there. 00:30:19.78\00:30:21.42 "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, 00:30:21.45\00:30:24.85 by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." 00:30:24.89\00:30:28.32 Paul was saying this to the church at Ephesus. 00:30:28.36\00:30:31.13 So if Paul was saying this to the church at Ephesus, 00:30:31.16\00:30:34.63 he was talking about a present sealing. 00:30:34.66\00:30:37.20 Those who are listening to Paul's message 00:30:37.23\00:30:39.60 don't grieve the Holy Spirit. 00:30:39.63\00:30:40.97 He's the one by which you are sealed. 00:30:41.00\00:30:43.41 The sealing work done by the Holy Spirit in the lives 00:30:43.44\00:30:45.54 of those that have served God and live according to His will 00:30:45.57\00:30:49.21 is a general sealing. 00:30:49.24\00:30:51.81 That is when your record closes. 00:30:51.88\00:30:54.28 If people that died in 10 AD or 50 AD or 100 AD or 1700 AD, 00:30:54.32\00:31:00.12 and they close their lives in Christ, 00:31:00.16\00:31:01.66 it is appointed unto man once to die 00:31:01.69\00:31:03.49 and after that the judgment. 00:31:03.53\00:31:04.86 They're sealed, whatever their case was, it sealed that way. 00:31:04.89\00:31:08.46 That's why 2 Timothy 2:19, says, "Nevertheless, 00:31:08.53\00:31:12.33 the solid foundation of God stands having this sealed. 00:31:12.40\00:31:16.37 The Lord knows those who are His." 00:31:16.40\00:31:18.67 So that seal simply marks, he's mine, 00:31:18.74\00:31:21.31 he's mine, she's mine, she's mine, they're mine, 00:31:21.34\00:31:23.41 that seal when your life is over. 00:31:23.45\00:31:25.58 But the seal of God in Revelation, 00:31:25.61\00:31:27.68 in contrast to the mark of the beast is a sealing 00:31:27.72\00:31:30.05 and a mark that takes place toward the close 00:31:30.09\00:31:32.05 of human history down towards the latter part 00:31:32.12\00:31:35.02 of the great controversy. 00:31:35.06\00:31:36.73 We find in Revelation 7:2-3. 00:31:36.76\00:31:39.16 "And I saw other angels ascending from the east 00:31:39.19\00:31:41.30 having the seal of the living God 00:31:41.33\00:31:43.47 and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, 00:31:43.50\00:31:45.80 to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 00:31:45.87\00:31:48.30 saying, 'Do not harm the earth, the sea or the trees 00:31:48.34\00:31:51.17 till we have sealed the servants 00:31:51.21\00:31:52.71 of our God in their foreheads.'" 00:31:52.74\00:31:54.34 Now, by the way, many don't know this, 00:31:54.38\00:31:55.71 but this picture in Revelation 7 00:31:55.78\00:31:58.18 is a condensed version 00:31:58.21\00:31:59.55 of the broader picture in Ezekiel 9. 00:31:59.58\00:32:02.62 Where does the angel go and whom is being sealed? 00:32:02.68\00:32:06.69 Ezekiel 9:4, "And the Lord said to him," 00:32:06.72\00:32:09.29 that's the angel that came by the way of the higher gate, 00:32:09.32\00:32:12.36 "Go through the midst of the city, 00:32:12.39\00:32:14.30 through the midst of Jerusalem, 00:32:14.36\00:32:15.90 a symbol of the church, 00:32:15.93\00:32:17.27 and put a mark on the foreheads of the men 00:32:17.30\00:32:19.00 who sigh and cry over all the abomination 00:32:19.07\00:32:22.24 that are done within it." 00:32:22.27\00:32:23.77 In a nutshell, the seal of God 00:32:23.81\00:32:25.74 as Revelation speaks about it in the mark of the beast 00:32:25.81\00:32:28.71 is an end time seal and end time mark, 00:32:28.78\00:32:31.18 but the general seal that spoke about Ephesians 4:30, 00:32:31.21\00:32:34.75 is a seal for all Christians throughout all time. 00:32:34.78\00:32:38.92 Very good. Thank you very much. 00:32:38.99\00:32:40.42 Wonderful. Now we come to Pastor Ryan Day. 00:32:40.46\00:32:43.59 And the question is, 00:32:43.63\00:32:44.96 we don't have a name for this one. 00:32:44.99\00:32:46.33 But it says, "If a person 00:32:46.36\00:32:47.66 who was walking with Christ for years, 00:32:47.73\00:32:50.40 and was in ministry, and ends up leaving Him 00:32:50.43\00:32:53.47 and goes back to his old life, and overdoses, 00:32:53.50\00:32:58.24 is that person lost?" 00:32:58.27\00:33:00.48 You know, this is a very sensitive question 00:33:00.51\00:33:02.34 to be able to answer because essentially, 00:33:02.41\00:33:04.81 for me to be able to declare a person lost or not lost, 00:33:04.85\00:33:07.48 obviously, I'm not the judge. 00:33:07.52\00:33:09.42 No human being can play the role of God as judge. 00:33:09.45\00:33:12.09 God is the judge. 00:33:12.12\00:33:13.72 I just want to make that very clear. 00:33:13.76\00:33:15.46 Now, there are some biblical principles 00:33:15.49\00:33:16.96 that we can know, 00:33:16.99\00:33:18.46 that we should make ourselves aware of, 00:33:18.49\00:33:20.86 not to place judgment upon someone else, 00:33:20.90\00:33:22.80 but for us to just be aware of, 00:33:22.86\00:33:24.67 in the case of something like this. 00:33:24.70\00:33:26.70 First of all, it depends on the outcome of that overdose. 00:33:26.74\00:33:28.90 I mean, did the overdose kill him? 00:33:28.94\00:33:32.21 Did it not? I don't know. 00:33:32.27\00:33:33.61 I assume that this person who's writing this is, 00:33:33.64\00:33:36.14 you know, overdosing in the sense that this person 00:33:36.18\00:33:38.55 is now dead and they're asking is he lost? 00:33:38.58\00:33:41.18 Well, a few Bible verses that come to mind here. 00:33:41.22\00:33:44.35 First of all, we have to keep in mind 00:33:44.39\00:33:45.79 the promise of 1 John 1:9, 00:33:45.85\00:33:48.39 in the case of someone who has not died, 00:33:48.42\00:33:50.96 but they may have fallen out of that lifestyle. 00:33:50.99\00:33:53.46 Obviously, we have the beautiful promise 00:33:53.50\00:33:56.30 from God that says, "If we confess our sins, 00:33:56.33\00:33:58.40 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, 00:33:58.43\00:34:01.30 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:34:01.34\00:34:04.41 As I'm reading this question, 00:34:04.44\00:34:06.17 I thought of the prodigal son situation, the lost son. 00:34:06.21\00:34:09.58 I mean, this brother was in the father's house, 00:34:09.64\00:34:11.55 he was in the father's will, 00:34:11.58\00:34:12.91 he was eating of the father's goods, 00:34:12.95\00:34:14.65 he was under the father's care, but yet he walked away, 00:34:14.68\00:34:17.45 it was his choice to walk away from the father 00:34:17.49\00:34:20.16 and to go out into the world. 00:34:20.19\00:34:21.62 I'm sure he nearly died and was lying in the mire, 00:34:21.66\00:34:25.26 in the filth of the world but yet he came to his senses, 00:34:25.29\00:34:27.66 and he came back, 00:34:27.66\00:34:29.03 and he was granted forgiveness, 00:34:29.06\00:34:30.40 and the father brought him back under his care. 00:34:30.43\00:34:32.40 So in the case that someone may go out of that lifestyle, 00:34:32.43\00:34:35.24 it's not obviously finished for them. 00:34:35.27\00:34:36.91 Let's also be very clear about this, 00:34:36.94\00:34:40.21 again, not placing ourselves as judge, 00:34:40.24\00:34:42.31 but the Bible also makes it clear 00:34:42.34\00:34:43.78 that he that knows to do good, and does it not to him, 00:34:43.81\00:34:46.61 it is sin, that's James 4:17. 00:34:46.65\00:34:49.28 I'll say that one more time, 00:34:49.35\00:34:50.69 "Therefore to him who knows to do good 00:34:50.72\00:34:52.05 and doesn't not to him, it is sin." 00:34:52.12\00:34:53.69 If a person goes into a situation 00:34:53.72\00:34:55.39 making a decision that they know is not right, 00:34:55.42\00:34:57.96 and not in harmony with God's will, 00:34:57.99\00:34:59.69 then you know, that person, you know, 00:34:59.73\00:35:01.23 has a fearful looking forward to judgment 00:35:01.26\00:35:02.96 if they did not make their case right with the Lord, 00:35:03.00\00:35:05.40 before their time expires on this planet. 00:35:05.43\00:35:08.74 But all in all, at the end of the day, 00:35:08.77\00:35:10.57 to answer this question, I would say it is up to God. 00:35:10.61\00:35:13.61 God knows the heart. 00:35:13.64\00:35:14.98 God understands where this person was 00:35:15.01\00:35:16.48 and what they've dealt with and we need to leave it to Him 00:35:16.51\00:35:18.71 to make that decision. 00:35:18.75\00:35:20.08 Amen. That's right. 00:35:20.12\00:35:21.45 Thank you very much. 00:35:21.48\00:35:22.85 Well, Pastor Rafferty, we now come 00:35:22.88\00:35:24.22 to question number four for you. 00:35:24.25\00:35:27.42 We don't have a name also. 00:35:27.46\00:35:28.79 And we want to encourage you again, 00:35:28.82\00:35:30.16 if you didn't hear the first time 00:35:30.19\00:35:31.76 I mentioned this. 00:35:31.79\00:35:33.13 When you send in your question, please send in your name 00:35:33.16\00:35:35.70 and at least your first name, and also the place 00:35:35.73\00:35:39.67 where you are writing from? 00:35:39.70\00:35:41.97 "Well, Revelation 3:18, has always been a verse 00:35:42.00\00:35:46.34 that has interested me, he says, or she says 00:35:46.41\00:35:49.38 when it says the Lamb slain from the foundation 00:35:49.41\00:35:52.85 of the world, what is meant? 00:35:52.88\00:35:55.95 Was it meant to be taken in a literal sense?" 00:35:56.02\00:35:59.62 So Revelation, I think that's Revelation 13:8, 00:35:59.69\00:36:02.99 I know there was a typo in there, 00:36:03.02\00:36:04.83 I'm thinking. 00:36:04.86\00:36:06.26 Let's just read the verse, it says in Revelation 13:8, 00:36:06.29\00:36:09.30 "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him 00:36:09.33\00:36:12.57 whose names are not written in the Book of Life 00:36:12.60\00:36:15.74 of the Lamb slain 00:36:15.77\00:36:17.57 from the foundation of the world." 00:36:17.61\00:36:18.94 And I just want to jump into something 00:36:19.01\00:36:20.34 a little different here as we answer the question, 00:36:20.38\00:36:22.58 that is, I love the fact 00:36:22.61\00:36:24.11 that this verse is in this chapter 00:36:24.15\00:36:26.25 of this book. 00:36:26.28\00:36:27.62 Okay, Revelation Chapter 13, 666, 00:36:27.65\00:36:29.98 mark of the beast, all of that stuff 00:36:30.02\00:36:31.72 and here you have right in the center of this crisis, 00:36:31.75\00:36:34.99 you have a directive to the Lamb of God slain 00:36:35.02\00:36:38.19 from the foundation of the world. 00:36:38.23\00:36:40.43 So great question. Here's the answer. 00:36:40.46\00:36:42.80 It's taken from 1 Peter Chapter 1 00:36:42.86\00:36:45.73 and we'll start in verse 18. 00:36:45.77\00:36:47.57 This is what the Bible says, 1 Peter 1:18 it says, 00:36:47.60\00:36:50.17 "For as much as we know that we were not redeemed 00:36:50.21\00:36:52.47 from corruptible things, silver and gold 00:36:52.51\00:36:55.34 from our vain conversation received by tradition 00:36:55.38\00:36:57.78 from our fathers, 00:36:57.81\00:36:59.15 but with the precious blood of Christ 00:36:59.21\00:37:01.95 as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." 00:37:01.98\00:37:04.69 So there's the same terminology again 00:37:04.72\00:37:06.32 that we see in Revelation 13:8, the lamb. 00:37:06.39\00:37:08.89 And then it goes on to say, and redemption, 00:37:08.92\00:37:10.29 then goes on to say in verse 20, 00:37:10.33\00:37:11.66 "Who verily was foreordained before the foundation 00:37:11.69\00:37:14.96 of the world, but was manifest 00:37:15.00\00:37:17.23 in these last times for you." 00:37:17.27\00:37:18.93 So I think that's a pretty clear answer right there. 00:37:18.97\00:37:21.64 Jesus Christ was foreordained or predestined. 00:37:21.67\00:37:25.51 We are predestined to be saved. 00:37:25.54\00:37:27.58 He was predestined to die from the foundation of the world. 00:37:27.61\00:37:30.65 So no, He didn't literally die. 00:37:30.68\00:37:33.21 He's been manifesting these last times for us, 00:37:33.25\00:37:35.05 but He was foreordained or predestined to die. 00:37:35.08\00:37:37.99 And in a sense, if you think about that, 00:37:38.02\00:37:40.09 if you think about that destiny 00:37:40.12\00:37:42.36 that weighed on his heart 00:37:42.42\00:37:43.76 and weighed on God's heart for all of those years, 00:37:43.79\00:37:46.33 knowing what was coming, 00:37:46.39\00:37:47.93 they did bear it in a sense, 00:37:47.96\00:37:49.83 just like if we're anticipating something ahead of time 00:37:49.86\00:37:52.73 that isn't necessarily the best or the nicest knowing ahead 00:37:52.80\00:37:57.04 of time we anticipate it. 00:37:57.07\00:37:58.41 It weighs on us right now. 00:37:58.44\00:37:59.77 So definitely this weighed on the heart of God, 00:37:59.84\00:38:01.68 this weighed on the heart of Christ, 00:38:01.71\00:38:03.14 but the actual sacrifice was made, 00:38:03.18\00:38:05.71 of course, on Calvary 2000 years ago. 00:38:05.75\00:38:08.05 Amen. Thank you so much. 00:38:08.08\00:38:09.52 Very good. 00:38:09.58\00:38:11.29 Pastor Lomacang, we have another one for you. 00:38:11.32\00:38:14.52 Okay. 00:38:14.56\00:38:15.92 And it says, "I don't know 00:38:15.96\00:38:17.29 when it is appropriate to fast and pray, 00:38:17.33\00:38:20.53 as I repent of my sins and pray for the repentance 00:38:20.56\00:38:23.87 of the sins of others. 00:38:23.90\00:38:25.40 Is there a way I can know 00:38:25.43\00:38:27.14 that something requires fasting and prayer?" 00:38:27.17\00:38:30.21 Very good question. Thank you for that. 00:38:30.24\00:38:31.64 Fasting and prayer is not something 00:38:31.67\00:38:33.14 that people do all the time, 00:38:33.17\00:38:34.98 but it's good to study the Bible to see 00:38:35.01\00:38:36.51 how fasting and prayer is talked about. 00:38:36.54\00:38:38.45 The Old Testament talks about it, 00:38:38.48\00:38:39.81 Jesus talks about it, 00:38:39.88\00:38:41.22 He talks about the positive and the negative side 00:38:41.25\00:38:43.18 of fasting and prayer. 00:38:43.25\00:38:44.59 And I think Ryan alluded to that a moment ago. 00:38:44.62\00:38:47.39 But I'll go ahead and remind us of that. 00:38:47.42\00:38:49.19 Fasting and prayer is often spoken 00:38:49.22\00:38:51.06 of as an approach that some take 00:38:51.09\00:38:53.36 when they are interested in putting their earnest 00:38:53.40\00:38:57.10 into a situation that they are confronted by. 00:38:57.13\00:38:59.67 In some cases, 00:38:59.70\00:39:01.10 people are very ill or they want 00:39:01.14\00:39:03.71 to be an intermediary for someone. 00:39:03.74\00:39:05.64 They say, you know, this person is very sick, 00:39:05.67\00:39:07.48 let's fast and pray for their deliverance, 00:39:07.51\00:39:09.04 or let's fast and pray that they may be healed. 00:39:09.11\00:39:11.55 And I have seen some amazing turnarounds in lives of people. 00:39:11.58\00:39:16.38 When the church got together, 00:39:16.45\00:39:18.29 or a group of members got together 00:39:18.32\00:39:19.85 or the family got together and prayed and fasted. 00:39:19.92\00:39:22.79 But the thing that fasting does not do, 00:39:22.82\00:39:24.69 and I want to make this very clear, 00:39:24.73\00:39:26.06 fasting doesn't change God. 00:39:26.09\00:39:28.86 Because the Bible says, Hebrews 13:8, 00:39:28.90\00:39:30.87 He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 00:39:30.90\00:39:33.44 It doesn't change God, it's intended to change us, 00:39:33.47\00:39:36.04 our attitude towards God. 00:39:36.07\00:39:38.07 That's why a couple of things I say about fasting. 00:39:38.11\00:39:40.21 Fasting temporarily suspends the distractions 00:39:40.24\00:39:43.78 that are between us and God. 00:39:43.81\00:39:45.41 Somebody might say, well, I have a very limited diet. 00:39:45.45\00:39:48.12 So I'm not going to fast from food 00:39:48.15\00:39:50.39 but I'm gonna stop watching TV all week. 00:39:50.42\00:39:53.39 I'm going to turn off the radio, 00:39:53.42\00:39:55.12 or I'm going to spend more time in prayer and study, 00:39:55.16\00:39:57.43 I'm going to drink water, I'm going to drink juice 00:39:57.46\00:39:59.43 to maintain my blood sugar, 00:39:59.46\00:40:01.33 various ways they decide to fast, 00:40:01.36\00:40:03.20 but they remove the things that distract them in those moments. 00:40:03.26\00:40:06.33 Fasting also puts us in a place where we are in earnest 00:40:06.37\00:40:09.04 of searching our hearts, and literally waiting on God. 00:40:09.10\00:40:12.51 Some people fast for their own needs 00:40:12.57\00:40:14.74 for deliverance and healing, 00:40:14.78\00:40:16.14 others fast in solidarity for others. 00:40:16.18\00:40:18.78 But then other times we fast because the hold on us 00:40:18.81\00:40:21.25 is so strong by the enemy, that we want that to be broken. 00:40:21.28\00:40:24.15 That's why the Lord said to His disciples, 00:40:24.19\00:40:27.19 and they saw a person demon-possessed 00:40:27.22\00:40:29.12 and Jesus says, Matthew 17: 21, 00:40:29.16\00:40:33.23 this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting, 00:40:33.29\00:40:37.20 so examine why you want to fast and when you do it, 00:40:37.23\00:40:39.90 don't tell others about it. 00:40:39.93\00:40:42.20 Don't say I'm fasting. Look at me. 00:40:42.24\00:40:44.07 Give all the glory to God. Amen. 00:40:44.11\00:40:46.71 Praise God. Thank you. 00:40:46.74\00:40:48.28 Okay, we're ready for the next question. 00:40:48.31\00:40:49.91 And this one comes to Pastor Ryan Day. 00:40:49.94\00:40:52.68 And it says here, "I have never heard an explanation 00:40:52.71\00:40:55.68 of Isaiah 66:24. 00:40:55.75\00:40:59.32 How does that verse support the theory 00:40:59.35\00:41:02.69 of all sinners being destroyed by fire and finished 00:41:02.76\00:41:06.49 and not suffering or being remembered forever?" 00:41:06.53\00:41:09.73 Okay, so there's a little bit 00:41:09.76\00:41:11.13 of some symbolic allegorical language 00:41:11.17\00:41:13.47 that's used here that is repeated 00:41:13.50\00:41:14.84 by Christ over in Mark 9, 00:41:14.87\00:41:17.37 which we're going to read in just a moment. 00:41:17.41\00:41:18.74 But I first want to go read that text in Isaiah 66:24, 00:41:18.77\00:41:22.71 notice what the Bible says here. 00:41:22.74\00:41:24.55 It says in here, speaking of, 00:41:24.58\00:41:25.91 "The righteous shall go forth 00:41:25.98\00:41:27.32 and look upon the corpses of the men 00:41:27.35\00:41:28.68 who have transgressed against me, notice, 00:41:28.72\00:41:31.15 for their worm does not die, 00:41:31.19\00:41:32.82 and their fire is not quenched. 00:41:32.85\00:41:34.42 They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh." 00:41:34.46\00:41:37.79 Obviously, this is in the aftermath of God 00:41:37.83\00:41:39.86 destroying all of the wicked by hellfire 00:41:39.89\00:41:42.90 as we read there in Revelation Chapter 20. 00:41:42.93\00:41:44.93 Which fire comes down from God out of heaven 00:41:44.97\00:41:46.60 and it devours them. Malachi 00:41:46.67\00:41:48.07 Chapter 4 says, it brings them to ashes. 00:41:48.10\00:41:51.07 But where we find this specific reference 00:41:51.11\00:41:52.91 also in the New Testament, is over in Mark Chapter 9, 00:41:52.94\00:41:55.54 Jesus uses these exact same words, 00:41:55.58\00:41:57.38 He quotes this exact same text three times 00:41:57.41\00:42:00.35 in the same passage, 00:42:00.38\00:42:01.72 and I'm going to start reading in Mark 9:43. 00:42:01.75\00:42:04.35 And so notice what he says here. 00:42:04.39\00:42:05.72 He says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off, 00:42:05.75\00:42:07.99 it is better for you to enter into life maimed 00:42:08.02\00:42:10.83 rather than having two hands." 00:42:10.86\00:42:12.59 And then He goes, "To go to hell into the fire 00:42:12.66\00:42:15.26 that shall not be quenched." 00:42:15.30\00:42:17.93 And then he quotes Isaiah 66 here, 00:42:17.97\00:42:20.17 "The worm that does not die in the fire is not quenched." 00:42:20.20\00:42:22.94 And, of course, he continues these three different times. 00:42:22.97\00:42:24.91 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off, 00:42:24.94\00:42:27.04 it is better for you to enter life maimed 00:42:27.08\00:42:29.38 rather than to have two feet and be cast into hell 00:42:29.41\00:42:31.38 into the fire that shall not be quenched." 00:42:31.41\00:42:33.15 And then he repeats it again, the worm that shall not die, 00:42:33.18\00:42:35.32 or the worm that does not die in the fire 00:42:35.35\00:42:36.82 that is not quenched. 00:42:36.85\00:42:38.19 And he repeats that again a third time. 00:42:38.22\00:42:39.55 It's interesting here 00:42:39.59\00:42:40.92 that the word hell in the original language 00:42:40.96\00:42:42.49 that is used is the word Gehenna. 00:42:42.56\00:42:45.26 Now the people of Christ's day as He's telling this to them, 00:42:45.29\00:42:49.16 they would have understood that language because Gehenna 00:42:49.20\00:42:52.83 was the local city dump. 00:42:52.87\00:42:54.20 Okay? 00:42:54.24\00:42:55.57 So now it makes sense as why Christ would 00:42:55.60\00:42:57.44 use in reference this text also from Isaiah 66, 00:42:57.47\00:43:00.68 speaking of the worm that does not die 00:43:00.71\00:43:02.71 and the fire is not quenched. 00:43:02.74\00:43:04.41 Because this was the city dump that Christ likened 00:43:04.45\00:43:07.12 unto the destruction and, of course, 00:43:07.15\00:43:09.82 the result of the destruction of sin at the end of time. 00:43:09.85\00:43:13.92 In this case, obviously, the worm that does not die 00:43:13.96\00:43:16.09 and the fire is not quenched is referring to the aftermath 00:43:16.16\00:43:19.66 of God destroying sin. 00:43:19.73\00:43:21.03 Now this fire not being quenched. 00:43:21.06\00:43:22.43 A lot of people really emphasize this and say, 00:43:22.46\00:43:24.23 well, it must be a fire that shall never be put out 00:43:24.27\00:43:27.20 if it cannot be quenched. 00:43:27.24\00:43:28.57 It means no human being or no one 00:43:28.60\00:43:30.34 other than God Himself can put it out. 00:43:30.37\00:43:32.14 But we have to also be accurate, 00:43:32.17\00:43:34.08 and making sure that we don't just cherry-pick 00:43:34.11\00:43:36.28 the text here and pick what we want 00:43:36.34\00:43:37.98 and isolate and, you know, exegetically insert 00:43:38.01\00:43:40.55 what it is we want it to say, 00:43:40.58\00:43:41.92 we also have to harmonize with the rest of Scripture. 00:43:41.95\00:43:44.19 And we know according as I said earlier 00:43:44.22\00:43:45.82 to Malachi Chapter 4, 00:43:45.85\00:43:47.29 and various other texts that when God ignites hellfire, 00:43:47.32\00:43:50.56 He allows hellfire to exist for the purpose 00:43:50.59\00:43:53.40 of destroying sin. 00:43:53.43\00:43:54.73 Nobody's going to be able to put that fire except God 00:43:54.76\00:43:57.50 but once it has served its purpose, 00:43:57.53\00:44:00.07 what Isaiah 66 is highlighting here in verse 24, 00:44:00.10\00:44:03.34 is that the aftermath of this, 00:44:03.41\00:44:04.77 the result of the fire 00:44:04.81\00:44:06.41 is that they will be remembered no more, 00:44:06.47\00:44:08.18 they will be as though they had not been. 00:44:08.21\00:44:10.15 And very, very clearly here, 00:44:10.18\00:44:11.98 this fire it will not be quenched 00:44:12.01\00:44:13.62 until it has served its purpose to eradicate sin 00:44:13.65\00:44:16.79 and to do away with the wicked. 00:44:16.82\00:44:19.12 So in this case, yes, 00:44:19.15\00:44:20.59 the righteous will behold this, 00:44:20.62\00:44:22.26 they will see it but, of course, afterwards, 00:44:22.29\00:44:24.69 after all of these acts are finished, 00:44:24.73\00:44:26.49 then God recreates the heaven and the earth new, 00:44:26.53\00:44:28.90 and of course, He wipes it all away, 00:44:28.93\00:44:30.73 and we will forever live in the harmony 00:44:30.77\00:44:32.43 of Christ without sin and no more. 00:44:32.47\00:44:35.64 Praise God. Thank you very much. 00:44:35.67\00:44:37.74 Pastor Rafferty, we come to you. 00:44:37.77\00:44:39.67 This is a question about John 1:29. 00:44:39.74\00:44:43.35 From Julia, North Dakota, she says, it says, 00:44:43.41\00:44:46.68 "Behold the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, 00:44:46.72\00:44:50.29 what does take away the sin of the world mean? 00:44:50.32\00:44:53.32 Does it mean all our sins were laid on Him at the cross 00:44:53.36\00:44:57.33 or does this mean He will cleanse us from sin 00:44:57.36\00:45:01.03 so that we are no longer sinning on this earth?" 00:45:01.06\00:45:04.47 Yes. Good question, Julie, in North Dakota. 00:45:04.50\00:45:07.90 That was, as Ryan Day, 00:45:07.94\00:45:09.27 would say, that was the simple answer. 00:45:09.30\00:45:11.67 Isaiah 53:6 says, 00:45:11.71\00:45:13.74 "All we like sheep have gone astray, 00:45:13.78\00:45:15.28 we've turned, every one, to his own way, 00:45:15.31\00:45:16.91 and the Lord has laid on Him, Jesus Christ, 00:45:16.95\00:45:19.01 the iniquity of us all." 00:45:19.05\00:45:20.78 No one's been left out of that one-time sacrifice. 00:45:20.82\00:45:23.45 Hebrews Chapter 7, Chapter 9, Chapter 10, 00:45:23.49\00:45:25.65 emphasize one-time sacrifice for all. 00:45:25.69\00:45:29.36 So Jesus Christ has taken away the sin of the entire world. 00:45:29.39\00:45:34.50 Now, the second part of that question was, 00:45:34.56\00:45:36.50 or does that mean that you know He takes sin out of our lives? 00:45:36.53\00:45:39.37 Well, absolutely, because sin is miserable. 00:45:39.40\00:45:41.94 Sin is evil, sin brings guilt, sin brings shame, 00:45:41.97\00:45:45.31 and God wants to remove all of that from us. 00:45:45.34\00:45:46.91 All the shame, all the guilt, all the misery everything 00:45:46.94\00:45:49.71 that sin brings, God wants to remove from us. 00:45:49.78\00:45:51.95 That's why Jesus is named Jesus. 00:45:51.98\00:45:54.65 Matthew 1:21, 00:45:54.68\00:45:56.12 "Thou shall call His name Jesus, 00:45:56.15\00:45:57.49 for He will save His people from their sins." 00:45:57.52\00:46:00.56 And, of course, we're told in 1 John, 00:46:00.59\00:46:02.52 and this is the triple-Decker sandwich. 00:46:02.56\00:46:04.89 1 John Chapter 1, 00:46:04.93\00:46:06.56 we're going to start with verse 7. 00:46:06.59\00:46:08.10 We're going to read verses 7, 8, 9, and 10 00:46:08.13\00:46:09.93 because what happens sometimes 00:46:10.00\00:46:11.53 when we start emphasizing the fact that God 00:46:11.57\00:46:13.40 not only died for our sins, 00:46:13.47\00:46:15.17 but wants to cleanse us from sin, 00:46:15.20\00:46:16.64 we start leaning toward, you know, self-righteousness, 00:46:16.67\00:46:19.61 and perfectionism and all of these kinds of things. 00:46:19.64\00:46:22.14 And so 1 John 1:7-10 00:46:22.18\00:46:25.75 give us this triple-Decker sandwich that helps us 00:46:25.78\00:46:28.38 to maintain the balance between these two ideas. 00:46:28.42\00:46:30.62 We'll start reading here in verse 7, 00:46:30.65\00:46:33.59 "But if we walk in the light as He is in light, 00:46:33.62\00:46:35.49 we have fellowship one with another, 00:46:35.52\00:46:37.16 and the blood of Jesus Christ 00:46:37.19\00:46:38.53 His Son cleanses us from all sin." 00:46:38.56\00:46:40.33 There's the answer to the second part of your question. 00:46:40.36\00:46:41.90 Now if we say we have no sin, okay? 00:46:41.93\00:46:45.27 We deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 00:46:45.30\00:46:47.30 So even though God is cleansing us from all sin, 00:46:47.34\00:46:49.27 we're not going to come to the place where we say oh, 00:46:49.30\00:46:50.94 we don't have any sin anymore. 00:46:50.97\00:46:52.44 But if we confess our sins, verse 9, 00:46:52.47\00:46:54.31 He's faithful and just to forgive us 00:46:54.34\00:46:55.81 of our sins and to do what? 00:46:55.84\00:46:57.21 Cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 00:46:57.25\00:46:59.08 Yes, we can be perfect, we can overcome. 00:46:59.11\00:47:00.92 Wait, wait, wait, but if we say we have not sinned, 00:47:00.95\00:47:03.45 we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 00:47:03.49\00:47:06.59 Now, just going to add a little side of potatoes 00:47:06.62\00:47:09.29 to this triple-Decker sandwich in 2:1-2, 00:47:09.32\00:47:12.83 "My little children, these things I write unto you, 00:47:12.86\00:47:15.43 you sin not. 00:47:15.46\00:47:16.90 And if any man sin, 00:47:16.97\00:47:18.30 he have an advocate with the Father, 00:47:18.33\00:47:19.67 Jesus Christ, the righteous. 00:47:19.73\00:47:21.07 He is the propitiation for our sins, 00:47:21.10\00:47:22.90 and not for ours only, 00:47:22.94\00:47:24.31 but also for the sins of the whole world." 00:47:24.34\00:47:27.64 Amen. Thank you very much. 00:47:27.68\00:47:29.74 Well, we're now moving into a second phase 00:47:29.78\00:47:33.11 of our Bible Q and A program for today and that is, 00:47:33.15\00:47:36.38 I'm going to ask a question and this is like a freebie. 00:47:36.42\00:47:39.19 I mean, whoever wants to answer it. 00:47:39.22\00:47:41.56 Okay? 00:47:41.59\00:47:42.92 All right, let's begin now. 00:47:42.96\00:47:47.00 This is the first one from Denison? 00:47:47.03\00:47:49.26 "What is the Book of Jasher mentioned in Joshua 10:12-13? 00:47:49.30\00:47:54.94 And why is it not included in the canonical books 00:47:54.97\00:47:58.74 of the Bible?" 00:47:58.77\00:48:01.74 Well, I can state that I have actually owned a copy 00:48:01.78\00:48:04.28 of the Book of Jasher, or what they say 00:48:04.31\00:48:06.11 is the official Book of Jasher. 00:48:06.15\00:48:08.55 There is a mention of the Book of Jasher. 00:48:08.58\00:48:10.02 But the question would be, how do we confirm 00:48:10.09\00:48:12.25 that this book that's just floating around out there 00:48:12.29\00:48:14.46 that they're calling the Book of Jasher? 00:48:14.49\00:48:15.82 How can we determine that it was legitimately written 00:48:15.86\00:48:17.93 by Jasher? 00:48:17.96\00:48:19.29 Also, I would say the overwhelming reason 00:48:19.33\00:48:21.46 why it was not added into the canon of scriptures, 00:48:21.50\00:48:24.80 the 66 books of the Bible, 00:48:24.83\00:48:26.84 is you will find some very strong inconsistencies. 00:48:26.90\00:48:29.54 And that's not in harmony with the rest of the Bible. 00:48:29.57\00:48:34.24 These scholars and these scribes 00:48:34.28\00:48:35.68 that went through and studied these books, 00:48:35.71\00:48:38.55 as they were preparing to compile these books 00:48:38.58\00:48:41.85 that would be known as the Holy Bible, 00:48:41.88\00:48:44.29 Jasher didn't make it in because it wasn't consistent. 00:48:44.32\00:48:46.55 And a lot of these books, you'll find that very similar 00:48:46.62\00:48:50.73 to each other Jasher, the Book of Enoch 00:48:50.76\00:48:53.06 and the Maccabees and all these other books 00:48:53.09\00:48:54.93 that we look at, 00:48:54.96\00:48:56.40 and we find that some people consider 00:48:56.43\00:48:58.23 should have been put in there, 00:48:58.27\00:48:59.60 they have been put through the scrutiny of tests 00:48:59.67\00:49:01.64 and found there'sA narcissist flooded withA narcissism 00:49:01.67\00:49:04.61 and many other spiritualistic practices 00:49:04.64\00:49:08.28 and texts that are not in harmony 00:49:08.31\00:49:10.25 with the rest of Scripture. 00:49:10.31\00:49:11.65 So based on that, 00:49:11.68\00:49:13.01 in my personal I've read a little bit, 00:49:13.05\00:49:14.38 not all of the Book of Jasher 00:49:14.42\00:49:15.75 but I personally found some inconsistencies, 00:49:15.78\00:49:17.29 and I can see 100% 00:49:17.35\00:49:18.69 why it did not make it into the Bible. 00:49:18.72\00:49:20.86 All right. Anyone else likes to say something? 00:49:20.89\00:49:23.43 That was clear. I don't know if you'd answer it better. 00:49:23.49\00:49:24.83 That was great. 00:49:24.86\00:49:26.19 We call it the Apocrypha 00:49:26.23\00:49:27.56 and they are those books are in certain Bible, 00:49:27.60\00:49:29.50 specifically, the Catholic Church 00:49:29.53\00:49:31.17 has those books included. 00:49:31.20\00:49:32.53 I was raised Catholic, so I know that but, yeah. 00:49:32.57\00:49:35.07 One last thing now that you bring that up, 00:49:35.10\00:49:36.84 like the Book of Enoch was not written by Enoch. 00:49:36.87\00:49:39.71 And some writers have wrote those books, 00:49:39.74\00:49:41.18 they use the names of Bible characters to add legitimacy 00:49:41.21\00:49:44.85 to those who may read it, 00:49:44.88\00:49:46.21 but that's one of the other reasons why it was not added 00:49:46.25\00:49:48.18 to the canon of scriptures. 00:49:48.22\00:49:49.55 If you see the book of James, was written by James. 00:49:49.58\00:49:51.62 Okay, very good. 00:49:51.65\00:49:52.99 Well, we have two minutes, so let's see 00:49:53.02\00:49:54.36 if we can try this one. 00:49:54.39\00:49:55.72 This one is from Mercy in Zimbabwe. 00:49:55.76\00:49:58.16 "Is it okay for Christians to get blood transfusions?" 00:49:58.19\00:50:04.10 Sure. 00:50:04.13\00:50:05.60 The difference is one 00:50:05.63\00:50:07.90 when Deuteronomy talks about blood and fat, 00:50:07.94\00:50:11.04 there was an injunction given in the Bible 00:50:11.07\00:50:12.81 that you should not eat blood or fat 00:50:12.84\00:50:15.28 because life is in the blood. 00:50:15.31\00:50:18.35 So if there's a disease in the body, 00:50:18.38\00:50:21.85 the body has a purifying factor, 00:50:21.88\00:50:23.39 you know, you have kidneys 00:50:23.42\00:50:24.92 that purify any impurities in the blood. 00:50:24.95\00:50:27.66 But now you're killing an animal 00:50:27.69\00:50:29.49 and you're medium rare, rare, you're eating that blood, 00:50:29.52\00:50:34.93 you're now transmitting the diseases 00:50:34.93\00:50:36.83 that animal could possibly have into your digestive system. 00:50:36.87\00:50:41.00 So you have a system of veins and arteries, 00:50:41.04\00:50:44.11 that travels, it cleans up the body. 00:50:44.14\00:50:47.31 But now when you put that in the actual flesh itself 00:50:47.34\00:50:49.28 and start ingesting that into your intestines, 00:50:49.31\00:50:51.58 this now starts to proliferate all those diseases 00:50:51.61\00:50:54.55 through your circulatory system. 00:50:54.58\00:50:56.48 That's why the Bible didn't just say about blood, 00:50:56.55\00:50:58.72 it said don't eat blood or fat. 00:50:58.75\00:51:00.79 So but as far as transfusion, the Bible says, 00:51:00.82\00:51:03.93 the life is in the blood, 00:51:03.96\00:51:06.06 for the purpose of sustaining a person's life, 00:51:06.09\00:51:08.23 it's okay to take blood transfusions, 00:51:08.26\00:51:10.13 but I doubt if you're going to go get a cup of blood 00:51:10.17\00:51:12.20 and drink it. 00:51:12.23\00:51:13.80 Just to be gross and obvious. Anyone? 00:51:13.84\00:51:15.94 Pastor, James anything? Yeah, I agree. 00:51:15.97\00:51:17.81 I mean, there is some risk there too. 00:51:17.84\00:51:19.17 There have been blood transfusions 00:51:19.21\00:51:20.68 where you've received disease from another person 00:51:20.71\00:51:22.64 I think of a famous tennis player 00:51:22.68\00:51:24.91 that went through that, 00:51:24.95\00:51:26.28 but that saves lives and there's always going 00:51:26.31\00:51:28.92 to be a risk in medical operations, 00:51:28.95\00:51:31.35 but we believe that it's okay to do that to save a life. 00:51:31.39\00:51:33.92 Okay, very good. Thank you, gentlemen. 00:51:33.96\00:51:35.72 We are now going to go to a short break 00:51:35.76\00:51:38.86 and we will be right back 00:51:38.89\00:51:40.56 to continue and finish this program. 00:51:40.60\00:51:42.83 We'll see you in a moment. 00:51:42.86\00:51:45.47 If you're enjoying our 3ABN Bible Q and A, 00:51:45.50\00:51:48.60 then tell your friends, 00:51:48.64\00:51:50.27 each Monday we'll bring you a fresh program, 00:51:50.34\00:51:53.01 answering the Bible questions you send us, 00:51:53.04\00:51:55.28 using God's Holy Word to shed light on those texts 00:51:55.31\00:51:58.58 that seem difficult to understand. 00:51:58.61\00:52:00.95 To have your questions answered on a future program, 00:52:00.98\00:52:03.72 just email them to us at BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:52:03.79\00:52:08.96 That's BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:52:08.99\00:52:12.73 You may also text your questions 00:52:12.76\00:52:14.36 to 618-228-3975. 00:52:14.40\00:52:18.37 That's 618-228-3975. 00:52:18.40\00:52:22.04 Be sure to include your name and where you live, 00:52:22.07\00:52:24.44 and then watch 3ABN Bible Q and A 00:52:24.47\00:52:39.49
